YUME Ramen Sushi & Bar was established in April 2017 in Matthews, NC and is now located in the fast growing South End area in Charlotte, NC. From a sip of Hibiki Whiskey, to a bowl of steaming hot Tonkotsu Ramen, Yakitori, or an aesthetic platter of sushi and sashimi, authentic, fresh and creativity are what you can find at YUME.
Service and food were fantastic. Black garlic ramen was incredibly flavorful. Highly recommend spicy crunchy roll, daikon truffle roll and chubby toro. Nigiri and sashimi were expertly prepared. Will definitely be coming back to try more of the enormous menu.

Super flavorful ramen!!! Authentic in my opinion and service was great. People is super friendly there. We went around evening/ night time so the vibe was going, have a nice drink and eat some ramen and sushi, can't get better than that.
There will be a bit of a wait however but its worth it in the end.

For the most part, the happy hour items were good. Unfortunately, we came to get ramen, and it was very low quality. The broth is very poor in flavor. And they'll still charge you for it. The water they serve while you're being seated taste like they came from a bathtub. The Menu has what looks like 500 items on it, and the waiter is so whelmed with tables that they don't go over the menu with you or explain a thing. They didn't have a manager on duty to assist with our concerns about the taste of the ramen. If you're going here for appetizers, more power to you. But the ramen is an absolute no. Be smarter than me and do your research before coming to this place.

Watch out for the Guys who give the boot for parking briefly in their parking space. Are not clearly posted and you can't see them very well at all. I will not be giving none of those restaurants in that area my business. The signs was NOT posted in a well seen area. I was there at night picking up an order.

My most recent experience left much to be desired. Multiple people in our party specifically requested mild ramen, yet it was served with a level of spice that made it difficult for some to finish their bowls. While spice levels can be subjective, this seemed like a significant oversight.
Additionally, despite informing the staff of a food allergy, the allergen was not removed from my dish. Fortunately, it was a mild allergy, so I was able to eat around it, but being charged the full amount for the chef’s mistake felt unfair.
Overall, while the ambiance and presentation were nice, these missteps overshadowed the meal. Clearer communication and attention to customer requests would greatly improve the dining experience.

First and foremost, I was horrified to discover that this restaurant serves foie gras—a so-called “delicacy” made through the violent and cruel force-feeding of ducks and geese. If you care even the slightest bit about animal welfare, this should give you pause. Supporting such a barbaric industry in 2024 is utterly inexcusable. For Yume Bistro to proudly feature this on their menu is disgusting and speaks volumes about their lack of ethics and values.
But that’s not the only issue. During my visit last week, the bathrooms were filthy—trash overflowing onto the floor, no soap in the dispensers, and an unbearable stench. It was honestly shocking for a restaurant that charges premium prices to be so careless about basic hygiene.
The final straw? There was a hair in my food. A long, unmistakable strand that made me lose my appetite instantly.
To anyone considering dining here: think twice. This is a place that serves cruelty on a plate, doesn’t care about cleanliness, and clearly has no respect for its customers. Yume Bistro is not what it used to be, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values ethical dining, hygiene, or basic decency. Do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere else.

Although I’m not a fan of protesters yelling at me when I walk into one of my favorite local restaurants, the actions of the owners, staff, and other patrons were far more shameful. This weekend, we witnessed the owners escalate a protest about their sale of foie gras to the point where one of Yume’s customers actually assaulted a protester standing on the public sidewalk. Instead of de-escalating, the owners and staff behaved like children—recording on their phones, laughing, and making the situation worse. The police even had to be called because of this.
We were there with our family, including our children and a coworker, and we had to explain to our kids that you should never behave the way the owners and staff did. This place has been one of my favorite ramen spots for years—I’ve been dining with them since they were in Matthews, NC. Mind you, I’ve never ordered foie gras and don’t know anyone who has. It’s literally diseased duck liver, so I’m not sure why anyone would eat it or why the restaurant insists on selling it. Not sure it’s worth protesting against.. And I don’t know much about how it’s made, from what I’ve heard, it sounds pretty awful I guess.
I wish this restaurant cared more about the experience of its loyal, long-time customers than about their egos. We will NOT be going back. We addressed it with our server and asked for an apology but never got one. My elderly parents were absolutely embarrassed.

We enjoyed the shoyu and tonkotsu ramen, gyoza dumplings, spring rolls and rainbow roll. There was nothing disappointing about our experience except that we couldn’t finish all of our food. We have always had a great experience here and it’s proven to be worth the travel for us every time. The food, chefs, and servers are all fantastic.

Food was pretty damn good. Definitely recommend the black garlic ramen. The atmosphere is great for the area, but definitely not traditional style sushi/ramen vibes if that's what you're going for.
The service was definitely lacking unfortunately. We got our food before our drinks. We got apologies, but no changes.
Irregardless, we'll be back to try it again.

Friends introduced us to Yume last night, and I already want to go back. The best ramen I’ve had in a while around Charlotte. Our server was very nice and helped answer my questions about the menu. She had great recommendations on things to try since it was our first time. Food arrived quickly, and was so good. I was so excited (and hungry) I didn’t take pictures, but will be back very soon.

We had the Tonkotsu Ramen and the Ume roll, the Tonkotsu wasn’t horrible but I felt the broth lacked a lot of flavor compared to other ramen I have eaten. It was most definitely in need of chili sauce or something because I had the spicy broth, and it wasn’t even spicy. The Ume roll was told to us by our waitress that it’s the popular roll. It wasn’t our favorite, it too lacked a lot of flavors that were described in the description, like the mango sauce, I just didn’t taste it within that roll. The staff on the other hand were very friendly, we were asked multiple times if we had been waited on. The restaurant was very clean, as soon as someone left they jumped right on it to make sure the area was ready for the next customers.

I went there today with my son and he ordered the lobster sushi, when I tried his sushi I realized that it was spoiled, it tasted bad and old. It was awful! I called the waiter and sent it back. We order other things and I asked for a little bit more of ginger. I was charged for the awful lobster sushi and the extra ginger!!! When I asked her why “Sara” the waitress said that they can’t take it off my check because I ordered it and it doesn’t matter if I sent it back because it was bad! She waited until I ask for the check and complained about it to tell me that they would not take it off my bill. She was unprofessional and rude. I will never come back here again!
Not only I was forced to pay for something we did not eat, she was charging me for a bit more of ginger on the table!

Tonight was not a good night. Got to the restaurant and parking was 25.00 which I was like okay. Then went in it seemed like a nice fibe and was with family. I ordered a beer and after halfway through there was something in my cup and then on top of that my wife ordered a bowl and it never even came. The waiter said he didn't here her but he came back and asked her did she need something and she ordered her bowl 😏. Not a very good way to host Frist time guest so I guess this place is crossed off the list. Come here if you want slow service and dirty cups with your beverage in it

Experience was absolutely terrible. We do not get takeout often and were excited to try this place. When it came to the quality of the food, we were very disappointed. We got the ramen which included rubbery pork and sushi which tasted like it was left out overnight. I called the restaurant to inquire about a partial refund or any compensation for the experience we had, I was told their managers aren’t able to help with any refund or compensation and only the owner was able to provide something like that. Absolutely no point in having a manager then, but I guess this makes sense to them. I waited for a reply for a week and had to call the restaurant to follow up as they hadn’t gotten back to me. Once they responded they questioned the photos I attached implying I was lying and that there was nothing they could do to compensate us. This was one of the worst experiences we have had and strongly encourage you to decide on a different restaurant, other reviews reflect that same opinion.

Good sushi, very good ramen. Service was fine.
We got a crab claw appetizer, which was supposedly crab claw meat, breaded and deep-fried. I took issue with this appetizer because once biting into the appetizer, it was clear that the meat contained within was the stringy, artificial imitation crab meat that is so common as a stand-in for real crab meat. However, there was a tiny (very, very small) actual crab claw stuck in the deep-fried crab claw meat ball, but the meat in that was clearly... aged. Not fresh.
I was disappointed, but also peeved because I hate imitation crab and felt that this appetizer was falsely advertised on the menu, as there was no mention of artificial/imitation crab meat in the appetizer description.
Restaurants: stop falsely advertising imitation crab meat. If you're gonna serve crab, serve crab and charge what you need to for it.

The people were nice, the atmosphere and environment was sleek, minimalistic, and aesthetically pleasing. The service was great, and the waiters always came to make sure if we ever needed refills, takeout containers, and whatnot, they made sure they always were there. The grilled yellowtail was tasty, simple, flaky, and buttery, basically everything you would expect in a fish dish. The beef sukiyaki ramen was delicious, the meat being supple and succulent, and the broth being flavorful and excellent. The natto roll was smoky, had a wonderful umami taste, and didn't smell too bad. I will definitely consider being a regular here.

The server was nice. We did have to wait awhile to be seated but an explanation was not given to why.
The food was horrible. The egg in the ramen was brown not in sauce color but due to freshness. The ramen noodle had a slick film on it. The taste of the ramen was gross and the pitchers they were serving water out of was dirty.
The sushi was gross with out flavor
I will not be back

Yume is on higher end and its a good spot.
Altho they also serve ramen and other apps apart from sushi.
Huge food menu, variety of options to choose from.
Tried a bunch of things:
Seared tuna from their special menu,
vegetable croquettes - a lot of people have mentioned this and i think they are great.
Fir sushi- tried one with yellowtail, spicy crunchy roll.
For drinks - whiskey traditional flights.
It is little expensive, bit worth it
Service is good.

We went after finding out that they had some foods we ate in Japan and we've been trying to find places that have similar foods.
The pork belly was so delicious! I got a cucumber salad also which was so delicious but pretty pricy for what it was.
I got a pork katsu and a chicken katsudon. Both were incredibly delicious!
Everything felt expensive however considering. We would go back but only as a treat due to the cost.

Located in the South End neighborhood of Charlotte, YUME Ramen Sushi & Bar distinguishes itself as a haven for those seeking an authentic and innovative Japanese dining experience. Tony Yum, the visionary behind YUME, brings a wealth of culinary expertise and passion from his roots in Hong Kong and his formative years in San Francisco's Japantown, where he previously owned a Japanese restaurant. This background lays the foundation for YUME's unique approach to Japanese cuisine, emphasizing authenticity, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability, particularly through practices aimed at achieving zero waste in the kitchen.
YUME's ambiance, characterized by modern design and a warm, inviting atmosphere, mirrors Tony's vision for a space where exceptional food meets exceptional hospitality. Tony, shared his stories from his diverse background, and his approach to sourcing and sustainability (evident in his homemade soy sauce and house smoked mackerel) set the tone for a dining experience that's as enriching as it is delicious. It features a comprehensive bar and a sushi bar, each equipped with bar seating for guests. Its expansive dining area is furnished with both booth and table seating options, with the booths notably offering superior comfort. YUME boasts an extensive menu, featuring a delectable assortment of sushi, yakitori, and ramen, along with thoughtful gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian options to accommodate diverse dietary needs and preferences.
Brandon, my waiter during the visit, is a seasoned professional with over four years of experience at YUME. His warmth and friendliness were immediately apparent, enhancing the dining experience with his insightful menu recommendations and thorough answers to my inquiries. It was clear he possessed an in-depth knowledge of the menu, demonstrating a passion for his role that was reflected in his constant, cheerful demeanor. The restaurant industry would indeed flourish with more dedicated and enthusiastic service workers like him.
Brandon's recommendation of the “Beef Sukiyaki”($15) for lunch is a highlight, featuring soy dashi broth, thinly sliced sweet soy marinated beef, tofu with a spicy kick, a soft-boiled soy marinated egg with a perfectly jammy yolk, daily greens, scallions, roasted seaweed, ginger, togarashi peppers, corn and ramen noodles, all garnished with sesame oil and sesame seeds. The lunch special's option to add karaage chicken at no extra charge adds exceptional value to this comforting dish.
The "Selected Sushi Set”($28), epitomizes the restaurant's culinary excellence, featuring an exquisite array of sushi on a chic black slate plate and banana leaf. This selection includes the freshest bluefin tuna, albacore tuna, saba (in-house smoked mackerel), sake (salmon), tako (octopus), hotate (scallop), hamachi (yellowtail), ika (squid), and hirame (flounder), showcasing YUME’s commitment to quality. Paired with pickled ginger and wasabi, each bite delivers a testament to the art of sushi.
For those in search of culinary innovation similar to what one might find in renowned establishments like Nobu, YUME offers the “Truffle Salmon”($15). This dish, reminiscent of Nobu Matsuhisa's New Style Salmon Sashimi, represents the type of culinary creativity and excellence that guests can expect from YUME. It's a testament to YUME’s ability to draw inspiration from global culinary leaders while adding his unique touch, making YUME a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.
There is an “Omakase” Experience at YUME, requiring over $200 and 2 days' advance notice, is a testament to the restaurant's dedication to culinary excellence. It offers diners a personalized journey through the best of what Tony and his kitchen can create, showcasing their mastery and creativity.
Without a doubt, YUME Ramen Sushi & Bar has secured its place as a must-visit destination in my Charlotte culinary adventure.

We just came back from our japan trip and was craving ramen really bad. Saw this restaurant with good reviews.
We got one regular tonkotsu ramen and one with black garlic.
If you're looking for authentic THICC ramen soup, this is not it.
Its a very healthier version.
It said it came with "greens" on the description, so i was thinking, green onions, nope its spinach, didnt like it in the soup.
Also, not sure if they added milk in the soup as it sent me to the bathroom halfway in lol ( im lactose intolerant)
The egg and meat was okay.
The noodle they have is that yellow kind that sometimes have a weird after taste.
Some people dont mind it, but the after taste is strong with me.
Soup: ⭐️ ⭐️
Noodle: ⭐️
Will not order the ramen again but the rest of the menu looks good, probably will try those next time.

Will never come back: the sauce of yakitori is soy sauce + sugar, the sauce of normal yakitori should be compound soy sauce; yakitori should at least be divided into sauce roasted and salt roasted, the store didn't have any categorization. The chicken heart was fishy, tough and hard to swallow. The skin was not seasoned at all, not even salted! The pork belly was undercooked and cut into huge chunks that were hard to swallow. The grilled beef skewers were so full of tendons that it was hard to bite off. The grilled eggplant that came up the first time was mushy (very noticeably burnt) and the second time the eggplant came up was only grilled on one side and tasted unpalatable. There was hair in the main course curry pork chop rice. After pointing out the problem to the waiter he quickly snatched up all the faulty meals and instead of refunding the faulty singles, he gave a tiny discount: spending 167 while the discount was $4. As someone who has been to Tokyo three times, this restaurant is a huge rip-off.

The experience at this restaurant was absolutely irritating due to the lack of coordination by the employees. The host informed us that the bar seating was on a first-come, first-served basis. However, when we tried to take seats at the sushi bar, we were rudely told by the same host that those seats were only for reservations... “You can sit at that bar,” as she was pointing to the other bar.
So, we got up and waited for a spot at the other bar that was told to us was “first come first serve.” Two seats became available, and we rushed to grab them.
Then, a different employee walked over and repeated that we are not allowed to sit there.
We asked him why were we told by the host that the bars were first come first serve when in fact they weren't. His response was that the bars are reserved when we have a wait list.
The miscommunication started from the host's incorrect information about the seating being first come first served, only to be told by another staff member we can’t sit there.
The host denied everything she told us.
This was my first time going there and for sure the LAST.

We went with 10 people. The food was all spectacular. I had Truffle Salmon, Taco-cado and Truffle Lobster. I highly recommend all 3. My husband had about 8 types of Nigiri and they were all excellent. Cocktails could be stronger. Service is always very friendly and attentive but they could use some instruction on how to properly serve (knowing who ordered what item instead of holding an auction at the table, clearing plates in a more timely fashion, etc.). I will definitely be returning again!

One of the waitresses completely disrespected my wife. We had been waiting to be seated for approximately 10 minutes. In comes a lady and jumps ahead of us, then the waitress addressed her first. My wife spoke up and informed her that we had been waiting, to which the waitress replied in a sarcastic and rude tone, “I’m doing the best I can!” This response caught us off guard and confused us. My wife responded by saying, “ok.. I’m just letting you know that we’d like to be seated first and addressed.” Again, the waitress, this time raising her voice a little more, “I’m doing the best I can”. Obviously, this woman doesn’t belong in customer service as she cannot handle a conversation. Such a damn weird-O. Needless to say, for as much as we like to spend on sushi and cocktails there, we have scratched this place off our list. Frankly, the food is not as good as it was when it first opened. And the service is lacking kindness and friendliness.

Not the best place if you want great ramen.
Ordered the Tonkotsu Shio ramen (was not sure why there was a designation for Shio when Tonkotsu is usually sufficient as its own flavor, and Shio is a different kind of ramen flavor altogether). Ordered with extra pork chashu.
My first impression of the broth was that it tasted like an upgraded chicken noodle soup. It was creamy, but did not have the complexity that comes with a really good tonkotsu broth. I couldn't get the chicken noodle soup vibe out of my head after the first bite unfortunately so I was not really a big fan of the broth.
I liked the noodles a lot! Noodle preference can be very subjective, but I do like noodles that are not quite as thin as Maruchan and not quite as thick as udon. These were a great in-between.
The egg was boiled well and seemed mildly marinated. Not bad, but I felt the egg, like the broth, could use more flavor, with either a slightly stronger marinade or a longer marinade time.
A great pork chashu is nice and seared on the outside and melts in your mouth on the inside. The chashu portion with extra chashu was great, but the chashu itself didn't really exhibit either of these traits. I did like how big the pork pieces were.
The wait staff was really kind, and I liked the vibe of the restaurant itself once inside. The parking situation could be better.
Unfortunately the ramen is just not worth entertaining for the price, given that there are a few other places in Charlotte who at least do a significantly better Tonkotsu ramen with a much richer and more complex tasting broth, tastier egg, and pork chashu with a much better texture.
The ramen was not bad, but it is not worth $15+. I think without the extra chashu portion, it would make for a great $10.00 ramen bowl given the quality and the way it compares to other ramen in the area for the same price.

Respectfully,
These reviews are not authentic.
You can tell by the frequency and word choice that people are being paid to write them, and I think it is disgusting.
The parking is a disaster, the sanitation is not up to par, and patrons are being given incentives to write praising reviews.
It is my hope that everyone can determine whether or not they think that these reviews are authentic feedback from regular every day citizens.
It is also my hope that the owners of this establishment have a bit more accountability with the reputation of their restaurant. I've sat back for over a year and didn't speak up..
But to see these purchased reviews is becoming difficult.
Even seeing the extremely unprofessional responses to the feedback is just... disheartening.
I know for a fact that I'll get one, but I don't care and rather speak up.
The goal of this restaurant is to maintain a 4.5 star rating on Google, and they are not above paying to ensure that that happens.
Sure, go and taste the food.. enjoy the atmosphere and tip your server...
But be honest with yourself when reading the reviews.

We have been here several times, it can get busy but we find Thursday evening during happy hour is our favorite time. They have great specials. The food is excellent. Tastes authentic and is of great quality. Ask for Brandon, he has waited on us a few times and he does a great job. Friendly, attentive and makes the experience that much better!

My significant other and I have been to many sushi restaurants here in the Charlotte area, but we always find ourselves saying the same thing “this is good but not as good as Yume”.
I highly recommend giving this place a try, they have a huge menu and the quality of food is AMAZING. Oh and also they make their own in house soy sauce… it’s by far the best soy sauce we have ever had.

Maybe I went later in the day? The soup was very, very salty, even for a ramen. Usually, I love to sip on the soup, but I could barely just eat the noodles and such. Even if I diluted the soup with my water, it probably wouldn't save it.
Edit: gave it another try, it was good and not as salty as before.

The rolls were good. The black garlic Ramen was flavorless, the boiled egg tasted spoiled this portion of the meal went straight to the trash. I would not recommend.

One of the best Japanese / Asian restaurants in Charlotte, if not -the- best. I have been four times in the past year and they knock it out of the park every time. I've had ramen, sushi, donburi, and most of the hot appetizers. Every time I left very happy that I went and I always tell my friends that this is the place to be.

really good ramen here, their salmon belly is too great to pass up while you wait for ramen.

Tried the ramen at lunch time, which comes with the karaage. Both tastes just so so. The soup base is pretty bland, chasu just tastes like cooked pork meat. Karaage is over fried and the shell is hard rather than crispy.

I've been to Japan twice before and I've grown to really love Japanese cuisine. It's much more refined than American or Mexican food and has a unique flavor all its own. Additionally, the service at Japanese restaurants is always great, including this one. Overall, it was really good and I'll definitely be coming back. Thank you!

I have been dying to eat here and I finally got the chance and my goodness, I left feeling drunk on good food, no booze needed. Everything was so delicious. The location is easy to find and has parking, which is greatly appreciated when traversing the city. The seating is very comfy and the atmosphere is really nice and chill. Staff are super helpful and nice, and are knowledgeable about the food. Foid comes out pretty quickly and oh dear lawd the taste is god tier. We had a starterof gyoza, followed by yakitori. The gyoza was super tasty and beautifully crisp on the fried side. Great balance of pork and cabbage on the inside, and the sauce was really tasty. For the yakitori, we had the shiitake, asparagus, and chicken skin. The veg was very tasty and well seasoned, but the chicken skin? I was in heaven. I wish the grocery store sold the skin removed from skinless, boneless thighs and breasts suz I wanna make this at home now. Crisp, spiced beautifully, just the rightvamiunt of char, and fatty on the inside. It was delicious. We followed thatvwith karaage and oh my stars. I love chicken and that was a love poem to the unsung hero that is the chicken thigh. Crispy, juicy, seasoned perfectly, and with the shrimp sauce? Perfection. Instead of going the ramen route for the entree, which was originally our reason for going, it was the donburi that called us with the sirens song of rice and meat. My mother got the yakiniku donburi and was silent the whole time cuz she couldn't stop eating it. So I can safely assume it was top notch. I got the curry katsudon at the suggestion of our server and it did not disappoint. Crispy panko breaded chicken, perfectly cooked rice, and that rich, thick, silky smooth curry sauce with the right balance of savory, umami, sweet, and spice. I could not stop muttering "It's so good. I'm so happy!" between bites while wiggle dancing in my seat. Cleaned the bowl of ever last speck of rice and sauce. It was truly that good. We finished the meal with the specialty dessert which was mint chocolate mousse cake served with mint chocolate ice cream. Refreshing, not too sweet, creamy, and the perfect end to a perfect meal. I cannot wait to go back and try more of what they have on offer. Also if you get the ramune and have weak wrists like me, just ask the servers for help popping the ball in. Worth the trouble. I had the orange one and it was very tasty. Not nearly as sweet as american sodas, but very orange forward in flavor, which made it more refreshijg instead of cloying. Thanks to everyone at Yume for such a lovely meal.

The sushi was amazing, they make their own soy sauce and it is so good and really adds to it. Our server was great. The only thing about that place is the low sanitation grade and the nasty bathroom. It's such a nice restaurant, it's just a shame to see the bathroom so dirty. Not dirty from one day, dirty from just not cleaning much over a long period of time. It just makes you wonder how the kitchen is kept. It would make a huge difference to remodel the bathroom and match the rest of the restaurant.

EDITED: Can't believe I never updated my review! Have been back many, many times over. If you like good fish, give Yume a try. It is pricy but you can what you pay for and I am never disappointed.
This is a hard review to write....I really, really, really want to like this restaurant. After all I've been waiting nearly a year to try!
First, food - we got an order of gyoza and the spicy miso tonkotsu ramen. Gyoza was pan-fried and pretty good. The ramen was great! Creamy broth and a good helping of toppings. I was a little disappointed that there was an upcharge for extra or extra-extra spicy ramen, since the ramen was maaayyyyybe a 2 out of 10 on my spicy scale, but otherwise two thumbs up for the food!
Now the hard part....the service. I will preface this by saying I recognize and appreciate that the wait and kitchen staff was truly working their tails off. That being said are definitely some improvements that could have been made. While waiting to be seated we went to the bar for drinks, only to be told alcoholic drinks were not yet being served. After being seated, it took 10+ minutes to be acknowledged, during which time we perused the menu and chose appetizers and dinner options -- only to be told by our waiter that they were serving a limited menu. This was a bit disappointing as there were only a few available ramen and appetizer options out of the extensive menu. Could have been easily avoided by separately printing their limited "grand opening" menu. We ordered the gyoza and ramen and asked the waiter for a recommendation on sushi rolls, but he took our order rather hurriedly and promised he'd be back to take our sushi order. He never did. Then, we waited. And waited, and waited. It took about 45 minutes for our 6-count gyoza to come out. No extra dishes came with it, so we resorted to passing the gyoza dish back and forth between the two of us. 10 or so minutes after the gyoza came out our waiter finally came back to check on us to ask if we were waiting on anything else. Um.....yes.....our dinners? When our ramens finally came, they were served with braised pork belly rather than chashu as was advertised on the menu. I overheard the waiter tell a different table they were out of chashu. Fine, but would have been nice to be given a heads up when we ordered. We had to flag down several people several times to fill our empty water glasses. I get that the waiters were crazy busy. But hostesses/employees who are not seating customers or doing little more than standing around and who catch my eye and notice my empty water glass should at least offer to fill it. All in all, we spent about 90 minutes in the restaurant for 6 pieces of gyoza and 2 bowls of ramen. I don't think our experience was unique. Looking around, it looked like at any given time only 30-40% of the restaurant was eating -- the rest was waiting for their food to arrive. It seems like the problem was overseating. They were more concerned about seating as many people as possible with little thought as to whether the kitchen could keep up with the volume. Since the bar was not serving alcohol, they sat people at the bar and every bar stool was occupied. Our table for 2 was originally 2 tables meant to seat 4, but they pulled the 2 tables apart, leaving only a couple inches of space between us and the table next to us. It was a confusion for the severs too, who kept trying to deliver our neighbor's dishes to us since apparently we both had the same table number (because, again, it was meant to be 2 tables seating 4, but they pulled the tables apart so they could seat 2 parties of 2). The overall experience was cramped and frustrating. Hopefully in the future they will consider their customer's overall experience and wait/turnover time, not just seating as many people as possible as quickly as possible.
Will I be back? You bet! Will it be soon? Probably not. I had high hopes for this restaurant and still do. Hoping they work out their kinks and I can update this review with a stellar rating.

Horrible service, sushi was overpriced and not fresh, tasted moldy. Don’t know how this place stays in business. I’m convinced the other reviews are fake

Ok, there are a ton of decent places around, but Yume is now my favorite! We went for a quick lunch to try Yume's Ramen out. The place was clean, as was the woman's bathroom. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. We got the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen lunch and the Sashimi lunch. We dug into the Ramen so fast I didn't get a photo but snagged some good ones of that Sashimi! Both were so yummy. The fish quality was incredible, and the ramen broth was perfect. We'll be back!!
Update: We went back. It was awesome, again!

This is a great vegetarian friendly place. The happy hour menu had a variety of options, and the full menu had even more. Thank you, Myrna, for your recommendations!

Worst of the worst restaurant. Tiny portion, expensive price (came from NYC, your disaster food here is labeled even higher price than most of NYC japanese sushi/ramen place), taste bad with wired combination, good luck for your business

This is my favorite sushi place in Charlotte. I moved here from DC a few years ago and I think their sushi is the highest quality. I typically order chirashi don, Ikura, and don katsu. All are incredible. Today, I placed an order using UberEats and the owner realized that only half of my order was picked up. She called me and personally delivered it. Their customer service is incredible!
