Very fresh and tasty sushi rolls. The take out was well prepared and quickly available after placing order. They have all-you-can-eat and a-la-carte options on the menu when you dine-in. Can't go wrong with either one. Nice place!

The outside of the building made me want to drive away, but the inside was pleasantly surprising. It is VERY NICE inside. The vibe is relaxed and upscale. I'm glad they kept some of the sports bar vibe from the old place. There are plenty of TVs to watch the game! The hibachi veggies had so much flavor!! More flavor in the veggies then I've had in a long time. My husband and I really enjoyed this restaurant and plan to return in the near future. The sushi was so fresh, it literally melted in my mouth :-). The menu is a little confusing at first. But when we figured it out, it was easy to order exactly what we wanted. My Moscow mule was very good. All in all, this restaurant is one that I definitely suggest you should visit. Couples night, adult friends, maybe not kid friendly unless they like sushi. There is a kids menu, but it was very small. I personally would not take my 8 year old there.

This is the 2nd time we have been to Magic Sushi for lunch. We were 1 of a few other tables when they first opened so we thought service would be fast. It took 30mins for our first round of AYCE order to come out and another 30 mins for the second round to come out. We we even missing part of the order from the first one and did not get it until 1hr 10mins later. The waitress was not attentive. Mr. Tokyo has way better service than this place, so we will probably never eat here again. If you want to wait a long time for your food and do not have anywhere to be, this is the place for you.

Love the sushi buffet here! This is my go to sushi place from now. You order as many times as you want on the paper menus and they will custom make your sushi platter for you. I had the crab Rangoon and chicken on a stick and they were delicious. I was stuffed with the sushi that I ordered and didn't get to have the hibachi this time. I will be having the hibachi next time. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

I usually have good experiences here. There's one asian waitress with glasses that my husband and I have had twice that isn't very good with service. She doesn't really check on us and she seems to just be doing everything else except give service, like refilling drinks. Our favorite is the tall Asian waiter with glasses. He always gives great service. Food is good though. Service needs work.

I have never written a review for any place I have been but I’m going to be honest that was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. When I got in the hosts barely looked at me and seemed annoyed I was even there. Context I got there at 7 and they closed at 10:30. I got sat next to a large table where they were letting their kids run on the empty booths near by, scream, and run around the table. That’s not necessarily the staffs fault but they could have said something to the guests. It took a decent amount of time for my waiter to get to me but I was understanding because he did have that large party. When my crab ragoons arrived they were pretty cold. At this point I was starting to get annoyed. I finally got my sushi and it was disappointing. The quality of the food was poor and it was overall not good. I was hoping to ask my waiter for spicy mayo or something to dip it in because it was somehow so dry for sushi, unfortunately he never checked on me. Finally when he came by I just asked for a spicy tuna as it’s usually a safe get anywhere I go. Not this one it was gross. The seaweed inside was so chewy I couldn’t eat it. I asked for the bill and left. Other highlights is 90% of the staff was on there phones and even taking personal phone calls. The hosts did not say goodbye or even look up as I left. I will never be returning. None of them were rude necessarily but it was just not it.

Food was pretty good. Service was terrible. Staff were unorganized and they didn’t communicate with each other or customers. The orders were brought out as they were prepared by the runners and we were missing several items. We assumed they would eventually come, but they didn’t. When we asked the waiter for the missing items he got an attitude and said we needed to reorder them. We ordered a fried cheesecake and it never came. We asked the manager for it and he said they were out of cheesecake. Our waiter never told us that. Staff weren’t welcoming or friendly and they often seemed stressed or overwhelmed.

We frequently go to Magic Sushi, and it’s a great spot for all-you-can-eat sushi and Japanese food. Everything I tried was really good—some of the best sushi I’ve had. The atmosphere is nice, but the space feels a bit too open and spacious, which can make it feel less cozy. The waiting staff could be more attentive; it took a while to get their attention when we needed something. I was once served a chicken skewer with ketchup? That was a first, usually it comes with a sweet chili sauce. Threw me for a loop considering I don’t really like ketchup and it definitely didn’t go with the chicken. Overall, though, it’s a solid place if you’re in the mood for a big sushi feast.

The food quality is okay for the lunch special, but not worth the dinner price in my opinion. The food service was fairly slow and I didn’t like how they use carts to deliver food as it seemed a bit unsanitary the way the plates were stacked on top of each other. There is usually no wait time to be seated which is convenient and the staff is friendly.

This is a great and speedy Sushi joint! They have All you can eat sushi for $25 bucks all week long for dinner. Our Server , Kevin , was super attentive and a great help with the ordering process.

The food at this place is actually really good! The problem is getting it in a timely fashion or getting it at all. Don’t bother asking for management, as they never came. Receipt was brought to pay, and 4 of the 10 things we ordered, we never got… but they were still on the receipt. If you have limitless time, check this place out. But if you only have an hour lunch break, don’t even try.

Came here with my cousin because she said it was new. And she definitely wasn't lying...

The food was palpable but it wasn't bad? The tempura was not cooked all the way. The sushi was subpar. Just everything was subpar. If you're looking for a quick bite and don't care too much for quality, then I would recommend this place.

The ambience is giving club. I think they wanted to open up a magic MIKE and not a magic SUSHI. The magic they served definitely was the way I poofed out my seat once I was done.

The service is slow and there weren't many people. I'm not expecting servers to be tending to me every second but to be gone for 10 minutes to give me water after we sat down is an issue...

It will definitely take some MAGIC to clean up whatever they got going on right now. Hoping the business does well in the uprising of AYCE restaurants.

We came last weekend. The food and service used to be up to par. Now, the sushi here is on the same level, as what you will find at a Chinese buffet may be lower. We waited 15 min for our waitress to ask what we wanted to drink. It wasn't even busy. Imagine how long it took her to bring our drinks... when she brought our drinks and Wasabi/ginger plate, she just dropped them at our table like she didn't want to be there and she dropped our straws in the Wasabi?! Like cross contamination?! lol Once our sushi arrived, it was a hot mess. It was like a deconstructed sushi! I couldn't imagine how bad it has gotten here. This used to be our to go spot. Dang! This restaurant used to be a burger/sushi place with average food. It has improved in every way as Magic Sushi. The new decor is contemporary and inviting. Our server was great. I'm happy to say that the sushi was delicious. We've been needing a good sushi spot in the University Area. It is not a buffet, but they do (at this time) have an all-you-can-eat option, which we did not choose. One of us got the teriyaki chicken sub udon noodles for rice. It was very good! My "sunrise roll" was also solid. This is good quality sushi and we'll be back.

It is a shame that we will not be coming back to this place because my boyfriend and I really like the food. However, our last experience here was horrible. Our server, Kiki, ruined this for us. She avoided our table multiple times. And when I say avoid, I literally mean she would check the table in front of us walk straight past ours and check the ones behind us. Some of our food was never brought out and she still proceeded to put down the all you can eat papers on our table without our food being brought out. Does that make any sense? When I politely said to her that we didn't receive our dishes, she said it was coming. However, we both knew she had no idea what was going on because my boyfriend never got his dish. We had to even go up to the host counter at the front to attempt to pay because she did not even give us a check or make sure that we got what we needed. I completely understand that places like this get busy. And we both initially didn't get most of what we ordered and just brushed it off. And yes, it did get a bit frustrating after waiting so long and having to play the guessing game of if our food was going to ever arrive or if it was forgotten. But we never made a big deal about it and were patient.
...We did not know what her problem was
with us because she was attentive to the other tables.We will unfortunately have to take our business elsewhere.

The slowest service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. I’d give zero stars for service if I could. We had the all you can eat sushi and from the time we were given the order form until the waitress picked up the paper to put in the order in was 23 minutes!! Just to pick up a sheet of paper. I understand giving people time, but 23 minutes?! I timed this because it took forever just to get our drinks when the meal first started. I’d also understand if it was really busy, but it wasn’t.

It’s a shame because the food was very good, the place was clean, the environment was nice and it was a great price.

ZEROOOO. terrible costumer service. I was out with my friend for her little sisters birthday when the ceiling literally bust on us causing water to get all over us and the remainder of our food. This was after the same thing had happened on the opposite side of the restaurant, after a man was recording the ceiling on our side before it burst and we asked did we need to move they said no. when we talked to the manager about it she said it’s just because it rained and we still had to pay. In what restaurant do you still have to pay after a ceiling literally burst on you ? Her only composition was the money back for one person.

Edited: we were overcharged $30 and have reached out twice to the owner. Their solution is unsatisfactory - just to give 20% to one of us the next time and train their staff better. 20% is only about $6 -- not $30.
The point of contention is they raised prices that Monday but didn't update the menu, nor did the server tell us. We had zero reason to think the menu pricing was incorrect, and were shocked to see the bill. They did not honor the price we were told. The owner insists that the higher price was in effect even though we were told incorrectly. This is unethical business practices.

Edited: Happy to report I just prevented a party of 20 from eating there. We're going to Mr. Tokyo instead. That's what you get when you screw over your customers. I hope the $30 you stole from us was worth that loss of profit.

For the good, the atmosphere is nice. It had a modern and clean feel at the front of the house with tasteful decorations, and the staff is very friendly. The hostess was polite and our servers Maria and Imani were very sweet and helpful. The manager was also very understanding and friendly.
For the bad, the food was generally dreadful. The spring rolls appetizer was inedible, as was the gyoza, the chicken in the fried rice, and the hibachi steak was overcooked and generally flavorless. Everything was either completely overcooked with no flavor, wet and gooey, or overly sweet. The Miso soup smelled like liquid smoke and made me nauseous. The sushi rolls had bad sauce that ruined the entire dish. We tried three different rolls and could hardly finish half of each serving. Food wise, this place is not worth your money.

Went here around 2-3pm and it wasn't very busy when we arrived. My party and I sat down and circled what we wanted (we did the all you can eat sushi). The appetizers and sushi were great.... when they FINALLY came out. We sat there for 45 minutes before we received any of our items. The appetizer items came out the same time as the sushi/hibachi. We went what felt like forever before we ever saw our waiter and barely got drink refills. They got my order wrong and brought out the wrong sushi twice. I explained i didn't order one of the rolls they brought me nor would have ate it. I don't waste, so i had it sent back and had to wait even longer for the ones I did want. I am extremely disappointed in the terribly slow service. Again, the food was great but the service lacked. I'm open to coming back and trying it again to hopefully replace with a better experience.

Yennah was our server! She is wonderful! Everything was explained thoroughly. Our food came out paced so that we didn’t have a table full of dishes and we could enjoy each course. Our children’s dinners came out with our appetizers so they weren’t waiting to eat. We walked in at 9:30 PM and no one made us feel rushed. The rolls, appetizers, and hibachi are very good size portions. Plus, the quality of the food is superior especially for a place that is unlimited. I was pleasantly surprised during my first visit to Magic Sushi. I had low expectations for an all you can eat experience at a sushi restaurant. The food was very fresh and the portions were just right. The chicken and steak were very tender in the hibachi dish and they were seasoned well. The sushi roll was great too. It was my first fried roll. The price point was excellent for lunch.

Although the food was great, they really need to do something about the service. The servers were attentive and brought my food out quickly, but there was only one server for my entire section. I counted 8 tables in my section alone. I had to wait several minutes each time I needed something and another patron had to flag him down for me once.

Overall, I enjoyed my first experience and will certainly go back again.

Spectacular service DURING the meal - 1 main waiter was in charge of our large party of 14-18 people. 😮 I am used to restaurants splitting up large groups between 2 or 3 waiters.

Great variety of food choices.

However AFTER the meal, when everyone was ready to pay their checks… he was already on to serving other large parties and we couldn’t catch his eye. No other staff came to check on us. We had to send one of party to a separate employee to get our checks.

Wondering if MS is understaffed?

It was also not good for other waiters to come with large carts and call out or “raffle off / auction off” the food - never fun at any restaurant. I understand they bring items out as they are fresh and ready, but because we had such a large group, there was confusion when different people had ordered the same item. Then too many multiples were brought out and other people claimed what they hadn’t originally ordered. They missed my order of Crab Rangoons but I didn’t want to put an ADDITIONAL task on our main waiter, who was already stretched too thin.

There has to be a better way with getting food to large groups! 🤔

On the deets, frfr....the wrong food came out for me, then it took like 20min for it to come out again. Then it was my wife's food again.....so instead of a real quick lunch, we had to wait again for a total time of an hour and ten minutes. Then I spilled my water. I was not asked if I wanted another, or if I could have some napkins, NOTHING. THEN, the check came. It had an extra charge on it!!! Needless to say that came off. If I had to give this place a grade, it would be a D-.

The food was great but one server for 24 people is insane. Had to ask for straws, pencils and a drink menu. We placed our first round and got half of it. Waited for 20 minutes in between placing orders. All you can eat is only beneficial if they keep it coming. If you are waiting for 20 min for them to check on you, quite naturally you are going to leave out of frustration negating the $25 per person. Sushi Hana has the same concept in Charlotte and this could be just as great. Maybe I caught them at a bad time.

I love sushi and this place is yummy. I go here for lunch about once a month. I will say the service is just average. For example, we went yesterday and the sushi arrived before our appetizers. Refills on drinks and getting our bill settled at the end was also a bit of waiting. On a lunch break from work service needs to be on point. Makes me think I should only go when I have time to kill. This place has only been open a little while, so perhaps it'll improve. Atmosphere is pretty nice and food is great. I'll be back one day soon. If service was reliably fast instead of slow, it'd be sooner! 🙂

They fleeced us from the 15% discount for those who come between 4-6pm and listed we came in at 6:15pm! This would be my second attempt to give this restaurant a try. Two weeks ago showed up just before three p.m only to find out they close at three. Not a single attempt was made for me or two other women behind me too stay. That said the only explanation given was this business closes between three and four? Nothing more, we three left shaking our heads in confusion?
Today being in the area figured I would give them another try right after opening. The server seemed pleasant and took an order for water.
We spoke about it being my first time and he explained the menu and the charges for left over sushi and rice?
We also spoke about my gluten allergy.
A tuna hand roll and several pieces of Nigri would be ordered with light rice.

Round two several pieces of Nigri, then noticed Aga tofu. We spoke about this only to find out it is made with wheat flour, was cancelled. Again a conversation about a gluten allergy. Also asked about the Tamago, found it is not made in house but frozen. The server thought I was speaking about topiko, fish eggs.

Round three really wanted a roll offered on the menu and found I could have none due to eel sauce, tempura flake and salmon.
One of the hand rolls ordered was a Spicy shrimp hand roll. The server put the order in and a few minutes later would arrive at the table. It looked interesting and took a bite.
Something seemed off and asked the server for a manager. When asking about the ingredients the manager informed me that it is made with tempura and chopped shrimp, What?
I cannot eat this I have a gluten allergy and have already taken a bite.
The manager asked if I had spoken to my server, yes three times at length. He would proceed to speak to the server and come back with an apology. He bought my lunch and offered Benadryl.
Leaving the last two pieces of Nigri, took medicine. Just before leaving explained to the server he needs to learn the menu and could actually kill someone. He gave no apology and seemed indifferent.
The hostess this day would stay on her phone and even read a book.
A customer would actually approach the hostess station twice for menus and not once did she look up or offer help.
Lunch was an epic fail.

Great quality of food for an "All-you-can-eat" spot. Food is great.
But the service isn't the greatest. It actually sucks. . . And I don't say this about restaurants often.

Very slow with refills and orders tend to get mixed up or never fulfilled correctly. Happens every time I go with a group. Foods and dishes tend to never come out even though we ordered it. They could definitely use a more experienced staff of servers. Or at least hire some competent ones.

I’m sorry, but think I may give up on this place. Did a review a month ago and nothing has changed. Think I have been singled out when I come here.

Sat down at a high top table just to sit here for 10 mins until the server came by. Yes, they were busy, but no introduction at all or will be with you in a minute.

Got drink order, that took long and one of the managers bought it out and took my order, which was missing an item.

Waiting for my food, a couple sat down and it wasn’t even 5 mins before the same server talked to them.

At least ppl took my advice to not sit at the bar, bc no one was sitting there SMH

I see other tables as well calling the server for help bc they never stopped by smh.

Either get more help or better training pls. But I will most likely not come back until it’s better. Even the hostess looks irritated from this place and everything going on

I enjoyed the food as I've gone 10+ times to Magic Sushi but never again...

The service down to the most basic requirements of refilling water just once in an entire visit is failed nearly every time I've been there. Not only for myself but other tables in earshot have to ask for water refills and these are waiters/waitresses managing 5-7 tables.... Heck I wait on myself to refill water since it's faster, which I looked beyond because the food was always consistently good, not great but good.

Today, 6/7/24, is an all time low where I filled out my AYCE order and sat for 45-minutes. Asked the waitress if my food was coming just for her to walk away in the middle of my sentence, come back, and walk away again mid sentence. Eventually she tells me she lost my order and it was never placed. No sorry, no apologetic behavior just said "there is nothing I can do" "would you like to reorder"....

Save yourself the headaches of dealing with Magic Sushi and head over to Mr. Toyko... they have better service by a country mile and the food is just as good if not better for every comparable role. First time at Magic. We got there at a great time. Almost had the whole place to ourselves. Plenty ov TV's to watch sports. The house music was too loud. Our server was attentive but service was slow. Our appetizers were great and very much standard fare. I got a squid, octopus and red surf clam were average and the squid was slimy. My actual rolls were good, the Godzilla roll was great, the Rain Forest seemed a tad bland and my third roll was delicious. I did order the teriyaki steak and it was excellent. Overall, it was right down the middle. Of course, as always, opinions vary.

I visited for lunch recently and unfortunately, it was an incredibly frustrating experience. Despite being seated promptly, I waited a whopping 40 minutes before receiving any service. To make matters worse, the waiter did not check on my table at all during this lengthy wait, and when he finally did approach, his demeanor gave off the energy that he didn't want to be there. The sushi was good but the disregard I felt doesn’t justify me coming back. A very modern artsy, fast paced, all you can eat buffet where they just keep bringing you whatever you want from their very customizable menu. I always just get the steak and rice but the place is mostly for sushi lovers with more than half the menu being unique types of sushi. It's a little expensive though being $25/person, $3.50/drink, and if you leave anything on your plate they charge you for it and back it up for you to take home. Though I've never had a problem with finishing my plate because the food here is phenomenal, I will always come back.

At 4PM on a Friday and the restaurant was less than 25% capacity.

Service is nonexistent. I don't know about the all you can eat because the server snatched the paper menu and was never heard from again. I didn't see ANYTHING for hibachi, so hopefully someone can attest that it's part of their menu. Server didn't care, personality of EVERYONE in the place was zero. Sushi was okay...seemed standard.
