Informal restaurant offering hibachi dining with tableside chefs & a wide range of sushi.
Wow! This small, family-owned hibachi restaurant is a hidden gem. The chef was clearly passionate and talented, putting on a fantastic show while preparing our meal right in front of us. The food was absolutely delectable - the flavors were a perfect blend of spices and sauces, and the ingredients were fresh and well-prepared. The service was exceptional, with our waiter going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The best part? The owners of the restaurant are so warm and friendly, it really feels like you’re having dinner at their home. Overall, a truly unforgettable experience! Not only was the hibachi chef and staff amazing, but their sushi was to die for! The freshness and quality of the ingredients were top-notch, and the sushi rolls were expertly crafted. Even if you’re not a fan of hibachi, the sushi alone is worth the visit to this great restaurant. Can’t wait to come back soon!

I will preface this review by saying that I ate there once before, and it was a fantastic experience with both our chef and the food, but it was very slow when we went, which may be the main reason for the stark differences I had each time.
We went last night on a Friday at 7pm with a party of 10, it was very busy. The bartenders were nice, and our waitress was a little rude, but understandably so, just trying to take our orders as fast as possible since they were so busy. However, our hibachi chef was the worst I have ever had at any hibachi place. It was more like he was just cooking in front of us and not a hibachi experience. He started by spraying my 4-year-old little cousin in the face with water before he introduced himself to or spoke to her at all. She was not expecting it, and it scared her, and she was scared the remainder of the time. I understand trying to tease a child, but spraying water suddenly in their face/eyes when they are not expecting it is not the move.
After he started cooking, he just cooked, with zero interaction at all or theatrics aside from the fire at the start. He unenthusiastically asked after he began if we wanted the onion tower fire, and we said yes. He proceeded to stack only 2 pieces of onions with zero effort, which was a very underwhelming experience. It felt as though we were annoying him, he showed us zero personality.
He cooked the rice and vegetables with the raw meat on the grill, and we observed the same spatula touch raw chicken that was then used to stir rice and vegetables. I don’t know enough to deem that unsafe definitely, but we observed other hibachi chefs cooking the rice, noodles, and vegetables first together before putting raw meat on, however, our chef did the noodles last and cooked raw chicken and other proteins simultaneously with our rice and vegetables. We also observed other hibachi chefs seasoning their food. Our chef never once touched his shaker. However, the food was still good, thankfully, but not nearly as good as the time I had before when it was a lot less busy.
Based on assumptions based on appearance, our chef appeared to be the youngest one there, so perhaps he is new and training, but it was a terrible experience. At the end, as he cleaned off the grill, he pointed to some cash he tucked into his cart, signaling for a tip even after giving us such a bad experience.
The only saving grace was after our meal when a man we had not interacted with yet came to check us out. He was incredibly friendly and joked around with us. He was our only truly friendly face/experience last night.
The food is good, and that man checking us out in the end was fantastic, so I may return to try it once more in the far future, but hopefully they can provide better training for their staff. For now I will stick to other hibachi places.

Worst experience. Posted hours until 10. Refused to let us sit at habachi grill. We stayed and ordered from the kitchen. Food was tasteless and greasy. Even though we are both waitress we decided to complain and ask for the food to go thinking we doctor it up at home. They initially offered a recook and took the food. We were offered a discount on one meal. I said no they are recooking it. Then we were told no the kitchen closed at 930. I paid the bill (with a generous tip-it wasn’t her fault) and asked for the food back. They would only give us one meal since that’s all we paid for On the way out the owner screamed at us and said we were the worst customers ever and said he never wanted to see my face again.

First time having Hibachi. Went here for our anniversary. Only one other couple across from us and they spent the whole time on their phone haha. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed watching it get cooked. The chef was very skilled. Only complaint is he was done too fast! I thought dinner would last longer but we were done eating in 45min. We both got chicken hibachi and were very satisfied with the quality and price.

Sushi date night! No complaints 😃 We were seated pretty quickly, ordered the love boat and left full and happy! Everything seems pretty average priced if comparing to other sushi places. The sushi was fresh and delish!!! Seating is pretty snug here, so it doesn't give much of a cozy vibe if you're looking for that.

I think that the best thing for me, other than the food, was I was sitting next to complete strangers that became folks that were EXCELLENT to talk to over a meal. I love the atmosphere, love the service, and love meeting new people. Nice job.

It was to salty, the person used to much of the sauce and it was one sauce for everything , so all the food just taste the same . Very disappointed, I don’t think it’s general, I just think it’s the guy who did our food. But I would still say go and try it, the experience was great.

I am very sad having to change my review from a 5 star to a 2 star. Me and my grandfather Claude love Kobes. I always tip the chef when he's done and we always tip an additional 20% ish on top of the gratuity they add. But I've had 2 bad experiences in a row now and today was absolutely terrible. I wanted to speak to the owner before I left, but he was busy running around so it seemed like a bad time to stop him in the middle of Saturday dinner, so I left my phone number on the receipt and gave him the book with it hoping he would give me a call.
1) I had ordered medium rare filet mignon but they served it to me medium well which was tough and chewy.
2) I had asked for no veggies and extra noodles which I was not given extra noddles
4) my partner ordered Kobes Candy before the service started and never received it until the end of our meal.
5) I had ordered the Kobe house roll when placing my order but never received it until the end of my meal.
6) I had asked the chef for "a little" yum yum sauce on my rice and noodles and he turned my plate into soup with the amount he put on it, and when I told him to stop he kept going with the sauce, which absolutely ruined the entire meal.
7) It doesn't bother me if the chef isn't entertaining when the food is so good but the chef was not entertaining and the food was horrible and ruined by the chef this time around.
I feel like I wasted $110 and my anniversary dinner tonight. I am extremely unhappy with tonight's visit and my last 2 visits have been bad. Me and my family are having a hard time returning here with how expensive it is and how bad of services we have been getting. I would have no problem paying the huge bill if it was good food but they have screwed that up the last 2 times now and I don't think we are going to return anymore.

My God, this place was horrible! When we sat down the table and chairs were dirty food everywhere. We had a total of five people with me three of them being children nine and under. There were two random strangers at our table. Long story short he gave all of the food to the two adults and gave my family literally a spoon of everything. The they had the nerve to automatically put the tip in my bill and on top of that. They charged an extra 22.00 dollars!! FOR NO REASON These snakes tried to scam us ! Dont ever eat at this place !!! Make sure you check your bill before you go!!!😡

The two stars deducted are for the two lies from the receptionist. Our party of 7 was on time for our reservation, "just a few minutes". 30 minutes later, "just cleaning a table". 15 minutes later when I asked if she screwed up the reservation "yes, it was a mistake". I drove an hour to get here, let me decide if I want to use that 45 minutes of your mistake to run to get gas or something. Call and harass them every hour to make sure they have your reservation correct I suppose? The dishonesty is the problem for me.
The server and chef were great. Food was phenomenal. Front of the house is disorganized and dishonest. Bad first impression, don't bother improving for my sake, there are better places to spend my money and time.

REPLY TO THE OWNER:
1. 9 guests out of a group of 11 showed up on time, and the other 2 were only about ten minutes late due to traffic. Sure, we can own that. However, none of us were informed about any time limitations regarding the grill AT ANY TIME, and we felt rushed during ordering and eating. By the time about 40 minutes had passed, or less, and we were still eating, the to-go boxes were handed out. If you consider that restaurant etiquette, then good luck with your business, and make sure you don't overbook yourselves in the future.
2. My friend was talking to one of your servers about how we were still eating, and she turned back and left without even listening. Please don't claim that's one of our faults; we know how to kindly treat our server.
3. Same-race discrimination is a thing. I would recommend the owner look up the term. I personally support a lot of Asian/Chinese-owned businesses, and this is not a place I would like to continue supporting.
4. What about the owner's temper as we were leaving the door? The hiss and eye-roll, lol?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I visited this place with a group of friends, and while the food was ok, I was extremely disappointed with the service.
The owner rudely asked my friends and me to leave, claiming we were overstaying, which was unacceptable. None of us were informed about a time limit for the grill when we made the reservation, and upon arriving at the restaurant, we weren’t told about any time restrictions either.
Moreover, upon leaving, the owner hissed and rolled his eyes behind us. This display of temper was completely unprofessional.
While I would typically rate this place 3/4 stars for the food alone, the appalling service warrants a much lower rating.

Kobe was terrible. Had a 45 minute wait even tho we made a reservation. The chef didn’t pay attention to the other parties seafood allergy and cross contaminated. Chef also threw a hot piece of broccoli at my face to catch in my mouth, the oil from it actually burned my eyelid.
Steak quality was gross, for a steakhouse. Very little veggie portions for a hibachi place.
And the neglected fish tank really added to this terrible experience.
We are a hibachi loving family that usually goes Eastside but were at Chuck E Cheese before so tried a new place.
10/10 do not recommend.
I’ll go to Sogo in Webster.

My recent visit to this restaurant was extremely disappointing. Despite being paying customers, we were rudely kicked out while still eating by the owner, who displayed unacceptable behavior, including making racist remarks about our language proficiency. I would strongly advise against patronizing this restaurant.
Visited a year ago
We had a terrible experience here. Not only were we rushed through our meal with a strict one-hour time limit, but we were abruptly asked to leave before we had finished eating. The server's demeanor was shockingly rude, pressuring us to settle our bill as quickly as possible.
To make matters worse, the discriminatory behavior of the owner towards Chinese patrons was completely unacceptable. It's deeply troubling to witness such blatant prejudice in any establishment.
Save yourself the frustration and discomfort by steering clear of this restaurant. There are numerous other dining options in the area that prioritize customer satisfaction and inclusivity.
Reply to the owner: We were 10 minutes late instead of 30 minutes, and this is not the excuse for kicking us out. Who says Chinese can't discriminate Chinese? You assumed us don't understand English so you didn't inform any of our guest your time policy and connived the server being rude to us. I paied over $550 for my 10 guests so I assumed this is a fine dinning place, but apprently it's not.

The server was very rude and racist. They were impolite and disrespectful. The server directly walk away without listening us. They only told us to arrive on time, but did not tell us the dining time was limited. They refused when we asked for an apology, and said that there was a confusion because the server was speaking English. The owner also asked us to write a bad review on google and never come back. Guess this should be the only agreement we have.

The food was good however we had a reservation and ended up waiting like 10-15 minutes to be seated. The waitress messed up one of our orders so it had to be made in the kitchen and not in front of us. We never got refills for our water and it was clear the other party was made priority over us. They were offered saki and we weren't. Whenever there was leftovers the other party got more of the rice, noodles, meat etc. Then when the bill came it was split wrong so we ended up paying more in gratuity (cause it was included) despite having a mediocre experience.

We love Kobe, this is my favorite restaurant in Rochester. When I get it I want it again within a couple days. There’s just so much flavor everyone is so nice. We love everything about it. I haven’t had much luck with the alcoholic drinks I’ve just never tended to like what comes out, but the food is immaculate. Lauren one of the servers is the sweetest girl ever. We hope to get her every time we come. It is expensive tho, I mean it’s hibachi so you expect that, but I think it’s worth it.

This was my first time at a hibachi table and I had been looking into this spot since last year. I mistakenly thought we would be alone but we were seated with 6 other strangers to fill the table. The entire restaurant and bar was packed so nothing about it was intimate. Great for a celebration with friends but not for a sexy date. The food was great and I loved the thrill of the fire and saki being squirted in my mouth. We had more than enough left over to fill up 4 doggy bags between us (two). We spent about $170. We both had the Kobe delight, calamari, I got the queen roll sushi and was supposed to get the scorpion drink but they only had two of the bowls needed for the drink so don't order that on a packed night! Overall it was over priced and not as inviting as the website made it seem. It's in a plaza with limited parking. Left overs were gross but that's to be expected with this type of food. Just order what you will eat and bring friends to fill the table.

Party of 7 for my daughter's bday.
Waitresses seem miserable, tired, rushed. All OF THEM. The busser practically grabbed my soup out of my mouth while I was drinking it.
Drink waitress told my sister to go to the bar to get a drink because she didn't know what kind of cold saki she was talking about with an eye roll. (Maybe offer a menu? 🤣)
Be on time for hibachi (my friend was 10 min late and I had to order for him). I get that they have to keep the tables moving due to limited seating, however, they went about it in a rude way.
We were only there for 40min (not even) Could barely have a conversation with my family because the staff was constantly asking if we were done yet.
Bathrooms dirty, no paper towels left or toilet paper on one side.
Hibachi cook was nice, but it's the same old saki in the mouth, onion volcano and catch the broccoli. He was also very rushed.
Food tasted great, so kudos there.
We didn't complain (we aren't that type of people) paid my $300 bill with it's gratuity already added. Ya win some and you lose some. I kind of wished I payed more attention to the negative reviews, because they were pretty accurate. Hence the reason I wrote one.
We went here to try something different and hour away from home and sadly we won't be returning.

We just dined at Kobe and the food was pretty good. I hate to say, but we were totally rushed out as a party of 9. For over $400 on our bill we were being stared down, didn't asked if we wanted dessert, or anything else. Check was left with eye balls glaring and felt like we had to leave. There was no table limit announced, even when we made a reservation, so I'm not sure the silent communication is working? We stayed exactly 1 hour. The server left our check while we were still eating and asked, " are you going to pay that?"
The chef at our table did the typical, onion volcano, sake squirts...but outside of that, it was a rushed experience. Even the chef seemed rushed. I have no problem spending a lot of money on quality restaurants but to feel rushed and not to take our time and have our overall experience robbed when we were trying to celebrate- unacceptable. It is obvious that this place wants to turn a profit, ASAP ( I get it, there's only 6 tables??!!) Cmon though. There are plenty of Hibachi restaurants in the ROC area to choose from. I'll dine elsewhere without eyeballs glaring at me to get up. 👀

KOBE is usually our to go spot for our girl nights out. Tonight we celebrated one of our friends birthday. Service was VERY slow. Took us several minutes for water, drinks and even to place our order. One of our friends had to go to the bar just to get a soda for herself. We mentioned a birthday, no fried ice cream nor the "show" they normally do. It's quite disappointing to know a 18% tip is automatically added in. We have no issue tipping but when service is not great, the waitress does not need to do 100% of their job. Again, just disappointing to witness this lack of service after coming here so many times.

In the women's bathroom there is no physical lock on the outside of the small stall, but you can lock it if you push the mechanism manually with your finger. The soap dispenser didn't have a cover either. Otherwise, I had a lovely experience here. The staff were lovely.

So today the 16th of September 2023 my Sons birthday he asked me to take him to this place for dinner. So just out of curiosity I decided to read the reviews.. I’m GLAD I DID! The last year reviews were very telling about this place and Especially the OWNERS responses!! WHAT AN ARROGANT SOB!! I’ve NEVER seen an OWNER respond so Ridiculously! Hey Pal here is one for you… We Didn’t come there and won’t ever!
So here is one to chew on.. PEOPLE DONT GET MAD THEY DONT GET EVEN THEY JUST NEVVVVER COME BACK. Maybe you should stick to nail salons!

Absolutely delicious high-quality food. Loved it!!! Going back with family for Hibachi side, sounds like they are having fun back there! Did go back for hibachi - was really fun / great food, and I recommend using their bar! They knew how to make drinks and delivered them quickly!

Kobe is fine, hibachi experience is the main draw and thats good! A la carte menu items are hit or miss

Absolutely the best quality food perfectly prepared and presented. The seating setup isn't the best for chatting, four of us were seated in a line, so the outer two couldn't talk. If there's four of you, try to get two seats on the end and two seats from the long side of the hibachi table.

The food was delicious. Service again was great. We enjoy every time we go.

Very busy and loud and the food is great! Our server was very helpful

Service was great, teriyaki chicken and salmon were overcooked but tasty. Place needs some deep cleaning and updating

First time visit, party of 2. Sign on door says reservations are highly recommended, but the website does not say anything at all, so we didn't know until we got there. Thankfully as a party of 2 we were quickly seated at a small table against the wall; partially into an opening to the hibachi side. I pulled the table away from the opening and the bottom of the table was disgustingly sticky. After sitting and looking around, I noticed that the place seemed old and dirty. This made me a little nervous. Our waiter was very kind and polite, our order was taken quickly, our food was delivered quickly, but we didn't feel rushed. Food was really good, we enjoyed miso soup, salad with an incredible dressing (don't know what it was), some sushi and the hibachi seafood delight. My opinion is that this place needs to two things; 1) to grow, they need a larger space; it's tightly packed and difficult to move around; we had to squeeze through a large crowd at the bar/waiting area to get out. 2) A really good cleaning! We will probably go back again as we did enjoy our food. Thank you.

They were absolutely amazing and so patient with our party of 40 (travel baseball). The kids AND parents had an awesome time and they went out of their way to make it memorable and fun! Thank you!

there was barely any seats at the bar, as in physical chairs for during our way. The bartender was rushing us then when we sat down for food, and we were talking the cook acted annoyed with us and was very rude when checking our order. Then the restaurant double charged my credit card and it made no sense as to why 2 different people even needed to touch my card. Plus the proportion were terrible. It was all rice and noodles and very little meat. Won’t be back for a long time

This place is Very Dirty. The floor is covered in grease. The staff & cook sucked!! Rushed my entire party. We went there to celebrate my deceased sons 32nd birthday. I will never patronize this place again…

This was our first at last time going to this hibachi. It was terrible the service was horrible the chef was rude and nasty. I ordered filet mignon and it was full of grizzle and fat. When he served the vegetables he didn't have enough to put some on my plate. I told the manager I do not want this food and how terrible everything was. I would not recommend this place at all. It was dirty the chairs are falling apart nothing appealing at all. The lights above the bar area is full of dust as well. I honestly dont even want to give this place one star

3 Dinners total $105.00 I decided to get lobster, shrimp, and scallops. One tiny piece of lobster and hardly any shrimp or scallops. Manager said if I was unsatisfied to try another Hibachi. In all my years in my opinion a horrible attitude from a manager.

I used to really like this place but the service has gotten terrible. We were doing a birthday dinner for my sister and waited over 1 hr to be seated even though I reserved a few days prior. The host/ bartender was beyond rude and even cursed me out in front of all the customers when I asked when we were going to get seated. I get that people can have bad days but I didn’t say anything that warranted that response. The food was alright and our chef was amazing at the theatrics but I don’t plan to come again if that host is working there.

Disrespectful waitress and a manager that clearly doesn’t care about his customers. Waited 45 minutes for 2 sushi rolls while the table next to us who ordered at the same time had their whole meal. An hour went by and still waiting for our hibachi so I asked the waitress who said ‘it’s a Saturday night babe’…manager tried to argue we weren’t waiting an hour. Terrible.

Stopped by for sushi. I had a mango tango roll. It was so good!!. The staff were all polite, professional, and sweet. I am definitely coming back!

The food was good and staff is friendly. It was a rushed experience. Their focus was to get you fed and out the door. No sooner did they serve us and they passed out to-go boxes and started to remove the plates of dipping sauces, etc. They actually took my granddaughter plate away while eating. There was no staff during the cooking portion offer refills on drinks. I would go there for the food but definitely not for hibachi table.

We have been coming here with a group for a few years now and this is the first time I can definitely say this wasn't a 5 star experience. We had a group of 12 adults for a birthday celebration. The food was just as good as it always was, although the portions seem to have gotten smaller. The chef was good, but not quite as interactive as in the past. The problem came near the end of the meal. Before we were all even done eating they were asking if we needed boxes. They wanted us gone as quickly as possible. The hostess even told us we would need to move to the bar if we wanted to stay as they had other people waiting for our table. As a group we spent well over $600 and to be basically pushed out is just unacceptable in my eyes. In the future we will be looking for other options if we want hibachi.

Miso soup was not good - steak teriyaki was ice cold - steak and lobster served without dipping sauces - service was very slow - not attentive - very dark and dingy in there - not worth the money - but the spicy tuna roll was great!

Hibachi gooooood! Nice place to come with friends, hibachi entertainment was sub-par, nothing special, but also have all the necessary performance. Price was friendly! The food was delicious! The noodle is on the salty side the sauce used can be improved and the lighting of the restaurant also needs improvement. Otherwise a pleasant dining experience! Big portion size too

Good food and hibachi experience. A bit rushed to get us out, it seemed. When the waitress asked the kids in the group (sitting in their own small group not mixed in with the parents) what they would eat, I don’t believe anyone knew about kids’ portions (and therefore pricing). All were charged for adult portions, though one says he asked for a kid’s portion. I think this was by the restaurant’s design to increase profit. Something for parents to be aware of. 4 stars.

excellent service! i am gluten free and was still able to get chicken hibachi, which at many hibachi places that wouldn’t be the case, i really appreciate it. staff was very friendly and we will definitely be back again.

Went to Kobe on November 13th, 2022 at 3pm. Place was empty and the hostess was on her phone and very rudly sat us down then proceeded using her phone. We were trying to have a nice time with our daughter and the atmosphere was lacking any type of customer service. I told the hostess that we were leaving due to her being rude and practically yelling at us to move to sit us. She said ok, like you really do not care about your business? We kinda exchanged words and end result she proceeded to use phone dismissed anything i said and we crossed over to the mall and spent our $250 there. Although the food wasnt the best, the service was. I later found out the hostess is actually the "manager", i truly feel bad for the owner, i worked in food and beverage for over 25 years and would definetly not treat people that way. No wonder it was empty. Good luck to them, we will never return. I normally don't post but this is merited! ...just got answered by the same person wow how unprofessional! Not the way it played out, the place was empty...how would i be upset with my seating. Had she not been on the phone she would know. Do not recommend, especially for less than mediocre service!

Disappointed at best. Been there many times before and always had a great time. Things have changed. Birthday dinner completed in a hour for 13 ppl. Free fried ice cream for the birthday boy was the the only good thing. Food was ok although the portions have been drastically reduced. Our cook was ok.. no “show” persay. Sat us down quick and wanted us out even quicker. We Were still Seated at the table at the end of our meal as they began removing all our dishes they started bringing brand new dishes to get the next set of 16 people seated. This was our birthday spot for our kids …. Needless to say we won’t be going back.
