Jimmy Chen loves serving the public at Kikoo Sushi where fresh, quality sushi and sashimi is the driving force of the business.
We’ve been to this restaurant several times. The fish is very fresh, and the sashimi is excellent! Ordering is convenient. An 18% tip is already included in the bill. It’s cheaper to pay in cash since using a card increases the total. The rolls are delicious, and you can also order miso soup, shrimp, beef, salmon, and desserts. There’s a limit of one piece of mochi per person, and sashimi is limited to 15 pieces per person per order.
One odd thing we’ve noticed: for example, you order 10 different rolls, but they bring out a tray with only 7 portions. You think they might bring the rest later, but they don’t. In the end, it’s actually fine because we’re already full, so those extra rolls wouldn’t fit. This has happened several times, and we’ve always felt satisfied with what they brought, so we don’t ask why the full order didn’t arrive. For example, in the photo, we ordered 8 rolls, but they brought out what’s on the tray - 5 portions. It was enough for us, so it was totally fine.
We really enjoy it here—the atmosphere is calm and quiet, and the staff is friendly. One of the few worthwhile all-you-can-eat spots for rolls on Manhattan in terms of price and quality.

This is an all you can eat dinner with choices that range from soups and salads to dumplings and spring rolls to sashimi rolls and sushi to desert . Also included is sake and beer. You can keep ordering for up to two hours. The bill came to about $70 per person including tip. Everything was delicious. Sushi and sashimi were fresh and good quality. The many apps were all yummy. This is a great place and wonderful value. It also amazes me how many people complain about the 18% tip included on the bill. I mean don't most people give 20% tips these days? What city do these people live in? Do they not go out for dinner ever? It's perfectly fine for a restaurant to include a tip. Servers work hard. If a 18% tip seems excessive to you then stick to McDonalds.

I came for their AYCE. Staff were dismissive, and were eating while customers were left to wait for attention the entire time I was there (for at least about 40 minutes). There is an 18% automatic tip (I was by myself) but nearly no service given except putting the food down ALL AT THE SAME TIME. My appetizer was served with my dessert (ice cream) — I was told everything must come at the same time after serving all of them. I’ve never heard anything like it. The salmon was totally bland, their peppered tuna was barely peppered. Not worth the money ($43, plus taxes and tip was $54). I am not coming back to this place.

I visited Kikoo Sushi to see if it was worth the higher price tag. The food was fresh and well-prepared, which justified the cost. The service was professional, though not particularly memorable. The atmosphere was pleasant, contributing to a nice dining experience. Kikoo Sushi offers good food at a fair price, with a balanced atmosphere for a pleasant evening out. Recommended if you’re in the mood for quality sushi.

Pay close attention - misleading advertising ahead.
Take a close look at the picture, does it say ANYWHERE "Mandatory tip, 18%""?? No it does not,
But this is what the bill comes with,
Tip is NOT mandatory. service charge is, if you call it tip it is not mandatory , you can't have it both ways.
This left a bad taste in our mouths, too bad, cause the food was good, Don't know if we will be back

Terrible customer service, freezing inside, not fresh. It must’ve been pretty cold if some customers actually asked for the heater to be turned on

I wish I took a picture of the food, it does look appetizing. But tbh this was most bland Japanese restaurant I have ever gone to in nyc. The shrimp tempura was not cleaned prior so the shrimp had the black part in it. The pork ramen has no salt and the pork was a very hard.. I do believe the service was good, the place it’s self was very clean and I love the disposable mouth wash in the restroom. I’d rate a 3-3.5 stars. But I’m probably never going to eat here again, was not memorable at all.

Expensive and the food is no good. The crunch roll is not crunchy but oily. There was a hidden 18% gratuity that was not disclosed anywhere prior to dining - The restaurant simply said that all customers pay this. Absolutely ridiculous, service was also slow. Left a terrible taste we will not be coming back EVER.

Impossible to overstate the kindness and patience of the staff. A lady came in and started screaming at the staff seemingly out of nowhere and over nothing, and they handled it like true professionals.

Quite expensive and the food was not good for that price. Crunchy Kaisen roll was stale and not crispy, lacking in flavour. There was a MANDATORY 18% gratuity that was not mentioned prior to dining. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

This restaurant is racist and refused me service after asking multiple times to for a menu. I kindly asked if they would make some rolls without rice and they said no. I said I would like to order anyways. The rude woman kept saying we aren’t going to serve me. I asked her why and she walked away from me. I waited and waited and asked why she won’t serve me. She continued to be incredibly rude and just ignored me continuously. I am a person of color and everyone else was being served except me. Don’t support this restaurant and go somewhere where they will serve all people

Sushi is average nothing extraordinary. Few things I wasn't thrilled with were, the automatic 18% tip on the bill and 5% extra if you use card. The law states 3% is most allowed. Also I sat at the bar and the wait staff was constantly reaching over me even when I sat where they said was best. I probably won't return to be honest.

This restaurant is terrible! I ordered a ramen bowl and go ONE tiny piece of pork in a weird broth with no other elements in the soup. Also VERY expensive! So many other better restaurants nearby don't waste ur money on this expensive and tiny portion place! Just terrible!

I recently dined at this fantastic sushi restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service provided by our server, Rocky. From the moment we were seated, Rocky made us feel welcomed with his warm and friendly demeanor. He was knowledgeable about the menu, offering personalized recommendations that truly enhanced our dining experience. Each dish was served promptly and was beautifully presented, thanks to his attentive and professional service.
Rocky's passion for his work was evident as he expertly guided us through the menu, suggesting the perfect pairings of sushi and drinks. His attention to detail ensured that our meal was not just delicious, but also a delightful culinary adventure. It's rare to encounter someone so dedicated and enthusiastic about providing an outstanding dining experience.
I would highly recommend visiting this sushi spot not only for its exquisite food but also for the top-notch service provided by Rocky. It’s clear that he is a valuable asset to the restaurant, and his efforts to go above and beyond are what will keep us coming back. Thank you, Rocky, for making our evening so special!

Kikoo is my go-to spot for takeout sushi in the neighborhood! I get the same order every time I go - the Pink Lady roll and a miso soup - and it's always good without fail. The fish is smooth and tasty, and always fresh when I've ordered there. It is a bit pricey but I find the quality is worth it. Only downside is I find the staff is sometimes very curt or seem rushed - I usually get takeout, so I don't know they're like when you order a sit in meal.

We stop ordering on IPad at 9:30, and all the food did not serve until 9:50, and they said it will close at 10:00, if we cannot finish before that, we will need to pay the original price! And we negotiate with them saying it is because they serve too late , the lady said it is none of their business and charged us original in the end.

Food 6/10
In terms of sushi quality, you pay and you get what you expect. It’s surprisingly better than I thought though. The $50 bottomless sushi and sake was quite a steal, we got two carafes of warm sake, and three or four platters of sushi and nigir. Each person gets to pick one of the specials, and I got the botan ebi, which was super sweet and fresh. Honestly I think we did make our money's worth on this sushi, and the fish quality actually was decent.
Atmosphere 6/10
Normal restaurant vibes, not much to say except there’s a lot of tables and can definitely fit large parties.
Service 7/10
Fast service, friendly people.

It does limit to 15 pc per person on sushi and sashimi but it's not like I ever hit the limits, I'm definitely someone that's on the light eaters end but I still get my fill from their bowls and appetizers
Staff is very attentive

They are SO RUDE and it not flexible. Not flexible. Everyone at the table has to do the all you can eat with no flexibility. They didn’t allow our party to split tables to acomódate the people who couldn’t stay. They lost 500$ because of their attitude and inflexibility. Go support a different business

One of my favorite AYCE sushi spots in the city! The food is delicious and comes out fairly quickly after ordering.
You're given a tablet to order so you can place as many orders as you want without having to flag down a waiter, which I love. It's also around $40 for AYCE and $50 for AYCE and drink which is a great deal.
The only downside is this is the smaller location so it didn't appear to have as many food options as their downtown location but the food is just as delicious.

Bad attitude, never seen someone that mean to a customer.
We asked for less rice as soon as we decide to order all you can eat, and we were told it’s not allowed after everything is served. And at the end, they asked to charge extra fee for leftover without telling us in the first place.
Lastly, we cannot select the tip, we were forced to pay 18% tips.

First time visiting this Kikoo location - pretty disappointed and don’t think I’ll be coming back.
First and foremost, the waitstaff are really rude here. My friend got to the restaurant and sat down first, and she told them that I’d be there in 5 minutes. This was about 65 minutes before closing time (which is enough time for us to eat), but the waitstaff REPEATEDLY lectured her that we’d have to be out the door by 10, no exceptions, and kept pestering her every minute about how much longer until I’d arrive … When I arrived 5 minutes later as promised, a waiter was leaning outside the door and I told him “I’m with her” but couldn’t even finish my sentence before he interrupted “I know.” with a cold face. Like ok.. and when I walked in, there was a bunch of waitstaff just standing around at the front but everyone just seemed very cold, no smiles or hellos.
When we were almost done eating, a lady came to tell my table that it was the kitchen’s last call, I quickly picked up the tablet to order an ice cream, and she was just breathing down my shoulder the whole time .. and before I could barely press Send, she literally snatched the tablet from me and walked off. 🤨
In terms of food, there seems to be a smaller food selection here (ex. No stir fry vegetables, teriyaki salmon/chicken, fried squid (my favorite)). However, the sashimi does seem to be a little fresher/tender than the other Kikoo location.
All in all, food was okay but the uncomfortable/rude service doesn’t make me want to come back again.

The sushi (and everything else on the menu) is really good here. However, their waiters have very poor manners. Overal, I would not recommend it because the way that the waiters here treat you, would totally change your mood and kill your appetite.

You have got to do smth about the service
The waitress are so rude and disrespectful
And that comes since the tip is mandatory18% so basically it doesn’t matter for the waitress how to behave since they will still get the tip

This is difficult to write because this had been my all time favorite restaurant. I used to come almost every week. Unfortunately, I have continued to have so many bad experiences with their service that it’s just not an enjoyable environment anymore.
Pros: Very fresh sushi, and it’s still my favorite in terms of taste. The salmon in particular is delicious. Ordering from the iPad is also nice for people on the shyer side like me.
Cons: There have been quite a few humiliating experiences with their waitresses. Despite the manager’s nice replies to other reviews saying that they’ll try to improve, it still continues to be a chaotic environment and nothing changes. There was one incident where the waitresses were outright mean and passive aggressive, but that was already covered in another person’s review. Tonight, they weren’t able to politely handle it when the restaurant started filling up. We got there pretty early while it was still empty, and they told us to sit wherever we like, so we grabbed a booth. She came to us while we were in the middle of our meal and made us move all our dishes and separate our table so they could squeeze someone next to us. When she started pushing our table, she didn’t move things out of the way and starting tipping our soy sauce dishes. It’s bad etiquette to ask a party to change their seating arrangement and move their food in the middle of the meal. We were visibly uncomfortable with the request but were not given the chance to say no. The booths don’t really have enough space to split each table, so it was difficult to exit without bumping into other people’s food. It’s fine if they had split the tables before arriving, but to make us move our things in the middle of eating was not right. It’s ok for a party to wait a few minutes to be seated, and I’ve had to wait for a table here before and they did not offer to split someone’s table to seat me then. It puts the customer in an awkward position because there’s no way to say no, and we look like the bad person if we push back.
What made it more uncomfortable is that she continued to come over throughout the rest of our meal to talk about it and convince us why it was important that we moved. We were only there for about an hour in total so we were not trying to hog tables. This might not be a problem for everyone but I find it to be awkward to be squished and watched by a waitress for the rest of my meal. Tip is included (which I already knew about), but it’s unfortunate to have to pay 18% gratuity when the service is uncomfortable and we feel rushed to leave.
On other occasions, large groups have banged on their tables and shouted while taking shots (multiple times). I know a lot of us are college aged and just want to have fun, but more than once is pretty disruptive. That’s not the restaurant’s fault, but I’ve seen the waitresses join in with the shots and shouting.
I honestly feel anxious every time I come here because I know it’s always gonna be hit or miss. Tonight was probably my last time after giving it so many chances. I’m writing this review in the hopes that they start to prepare better in the future. They are usually busy on a Saturday, so having a full restaurant shouldn’t be surprising to the staff.
If you’re a very extroverted, go-with-the-flow kind of person, this might not be a big deal at all to you. But others might find the experience overstimulating.

My first visit to this uptown location, and it's now my favorite! Nicely styled interior, very clean and comfortable. More space per table and a nice view of chefs prep area, unlike their other locations. Also seems to be quieter/less of a party place. Sushi was excellent, super fresh and not too much rice on the AYCE option, also delivered very quickly. Will definitely return.

This place right here has an option where you can get all-you-can-eat sushi. I love this place they have another location but this one is closer to home and so cozy not too overcrowded. I must say the service in here is lovely and quick and our sushi was so yummy.
Visited 2 years ago
The wait staff was very helpful and explained the AYCE menu clearly, including the 18% gratuity so we wouldn’t be surprised or double tip.
Overall, the sushi and small dishes were of solid quality.
The sushi rice was rather firmly packed and felt more substantial (i.e. low fish to rice ratio) than I expected. I would also have loved for the sushi rice to be seasoned with more rice vinegar.
I really liked the salmon nigiri and the various eel rolls. The red bean ice cream and cheesecake were both wonderful desserts to finish off the meal.
One gripe was that over half of the menu items are limited orders per person, not really AYCE.

Delicious food! Quick too. I see a bunch of bad reviews about the service and I’m gunna go ahead and make an educated guess that none of these people know what it’s like to work in a restaurant, and are probably privileged white people! I don’t think a lot of the people working here’s first language is English and they worked hard to give me excellent service and were absolute sweethearts. Also the rent in this neighborhood is expensive and I found it to be very reasonably priced. Shame on you bad reviewers. Check yourselves.

Me and my friend went to Kikoo Sushi for all you can eat. It was the worst sushi i have ever had. Their quality was really bad and it was coming off whenever we tried to pick up the sushi and it was not good at all. They serve green tea on a water glass and it was not even hot. Also they take only cash did not tell us about it when we went there and there was no sign. We had to pay fee to take out cash from the atm machine. I have had all you can eat sushi but never had this kind of experiences.

I have never felt so disregarded and disrespected as a customer before. My friends and I went for the all you can eat sushi and it’s as if we didn’t exist. The hostess told us to sit anywhere we wanted and then didn’t come over until we asked her. When we asked, she gave us a nasty look and told us we had to wait to be served. Then we got the IPad where we ordered our food, and it’s as if we weren’t there. We asked for extra napkins amongst other seemingly normal requests, and every time we either were told we had to wait or we just got an awful response.
The restaurant was empty so it didn’t seem like she had to run from table to table and serve many parties. Part of the experience of eating is the service and no matter how good the food was, and it was good, the whole experience was ruined by how horrible she was. No amount of delicious food will make up for how we felt the whole time.

We did the AYCE. The rolls were the perfect ratio, not too much rice with a healthy amount of fish & toppings and the same goes for the sushi. The service was really good and we didn't wait long at all for food even though it was getting pretty busy. The sashimi isn't actually all you can eat I think only 15 per person. We had 3 people and were capped at about 45 pieces throughout the meal so do with that as you wish. They have an AMAZING variety of sushi and sashimi and I'm almost positive you will find at least a few foods you haven't tried before and they're all fantastic. Anyone complaining about the 18% automatic gratuity must be people who don't understand how much of the server's paychecks are dependent on tips. The min. wage for servers are way lower than the average worker by law because it's expected that your tip will cover the rest. I was a server I know so please tip these people well.

One of my new favorite spots for sushi uptown! Tasty rolls, great value, kind staff, and just a wonderful place all around.
Visited 2 years ago
Place is ugly and on the cheap, chairs way below tables, tiles scuffed. Staff all spoke Mandarin (Taiwan accent), not a Japanese in sight. Service late and awful, though there's an 18% surcharge added on, after tax. Waited ten minutes for sake (not crowded), was told they "had to heat it up." Rubbing two sticks together? Just for the tourist who mistakenly wanders in.

On Fridays & Saturdays they randomly make you pay in cash only? No thanks. Change your policy!

I do not recommend eating here. There are much better options around. The staff are rude and poorly trained, the food is a joke for what they’re charging. I mean, unless you like spring rolls the size of your pinky finger for $9, skimpy sushi, and being literally scoffed at by a server when asking to be acknowledged. Pass.

Overall rating: 4.4
The average rating is accurateee. I’m so torn, I have been here so many times like 4-5x when I’m in the area. I love the food. It’s definitely not Michelin fresh, but it’s pretty good! Like, shockingly.
However the service is so bad. It takes years, years to get your food. Honestly it takes years to get water.
As others have said, this place is CASH only. Fine. What I don’t get is why the hell am I ordering the food through an app! It frustrates me so much 😤 and then bad service. Like why can’t I just put my card info in the app that I’m ordering the food through. It doesn’t make senseeee. Whyyy.
I live in Brooklyn so I do ask myself why do I do this to myself. But the sushi is pretty good! I love anything tuna. Maybe one day I’ll actually bring cash so I’m less angry. Such is life.

I came in for the All You Can Eat. The sushi was very tasteful except for the servers attitude. She was rude and unfriendly. Unfortunately tip is already included. If I could, I would have given her from little tip to no tip at all. Besides the food the scenery was intimate if you enjoy dim lighting. On a Monday night it sure was packed but very spacious and never feeling cluttered. I would recommend this restaurant if you're a sushi lover!

3.5/5
Been here a handful of times and so far it's probably the most solid ayce sushi spot I've found so far in the city. They make do with your pretty typical fish offerings but have some creative rolls and appetizers to make them more unique. They also have some items that are 1 per person (out of the whole category) including items like jelly milk tea, tartare, and ankimo. They also let you get one item for dessert.
I do wish the rice was a bit more flavorful. It's a bit bland for me and they've been increasing the amount of rice more and more.
As of my last visit, Fri and Sat are cash only (there's an ATM in the back)

The food is good for an all you can eat but beware as they add an 18% gratuity while giving absolutely awful service. Add 25% for all you want BUT GIVE GOOD SERVICE AT LEAST. The waiter did not say hi or bye, took the money from the table without saying thank you, and would dump the plates and drinks all over the place. I’d stay away from that place.

This was a really great moment I'm not really a person that does sushi like that but when my best friend brought me in here for my birthday it was definitely a great way to go makes me want to definitely try all the sushi I can try.... This is definitely a place I've would like to go back to and would definitely recommend anyone to try you will have a great experience I'm telling you. See for yourself!!!

The food is amazing and the setting is nice, but their peculiar policy of accepting only cash on a Friday and Saturday can be explained by their ATM's $5 transaction fee. Not cool.

Food tastes pretty decent. I would give the quality and taste of the food a 7.5/10. But the service is severely lacking and the manager is a monumental cheapass. It’s unbelievable that a japanese restaurant charges money for ginger slices and charges two dollars for a tiny little plate of sriracha. The manager needs a wakeup call and the staff members need to realize how rude they are. Would not recommend this place to anybody.

Great Sushi creations! Waiter were nice. Prices very reasonable for what I got. They had some all-you-can-eat offers, but I didn't try.

Stop by today at 3:15pm to order some rolls. Upon entering the place, a rude woman that works there saw me standing there to place a order. No greetings &/or someone will be with you - instead told me to move, so she can place a mat down. Totally, bad customer service. Took my business elsewhere.

Very poor customer services. Had to wait for a while to be seated even though there were empty tables.
Waiter don’t take order for you but Customers need to order by their own phone. I ordered Ikura cocktail but after 15 mins of waiting the waiter finally come to tell me they don’t have Ikura anymore.
The waiter could have set the online menu properly to not let customer order if they run out of ingredients. Or tell me right after I submitted the order. They don’t do their job well.
Sushi tastes ok. Miso soup was not served in the right temperature not hot enough.
Price was pricey for the restaurant which only accept cash.
I don’t recommend to eat in.

Worst dining experience of my life. We had the loudest most obnoxious most disgusting group sitting next to us and the owners did not say a single thing to them the entire night. As a matter of fact the manager ended up doing shots with them and partaking in the antics. Never going back again

Tried several pieces of sushi, all were excellent quality. Very generous portions of nigiri, and everyone on staff was so friendly. I’d definitely go back.

The AYCE has excellent sushi. Nothing fancy, and it has a little bit too much rice, but everything is tasty. Price is fair. We ordered more than 20 items, and it was on our table in 15 minutes on a Monday night.
They limit the number of sushi and sashimi to 20 portions per person, but each portion is larger than usual. Plus, rolls and hot dishes are unlimited, and there are so many different types.
ADVICE: be careful when ordering via tablet. It is easy to order too much food. Each item corresponds to a whole portion, sometimes including several similar very large units.

Good Sushi (My family and I had an assortment of rolls and shared the more expensive rolls that were wrapped in Salmon). The miso soup were ordered was quite good as well and it came with a complimentary dessert.

My family and I are visiting New York for the weekend. I spent a few hours looking to see which place had the better sushi and ramen near by. We decided to go here. After arriving there, they only accept cash. No problem ATM inside. After standing there (they wouldn’t sit us even though we were in the way) waiting for my husband to return from the ATM, they say it was an extra $20 per person to eat. Now we have younger children and we all know they don’t eat everything. Due to this we normally will order 1 portion and split it. But they wanted extra $20 per child to pretty much sit in a seat. Absolutely ridiculous! My advice order it from grub hub, delivery fee is cheaper than dinning in.

The food isn't bad but the service wasn't great. It was quite humiliating. There was an obvious miscommunication between the server and us but that's okay, it happens. What's not okay is the server completely blaming it on us.
When we sat down, the server asked us if we know how to use the iPad to place orders. My partner said yes (he knows how to place an order with the iPad). Then she told him that they try to minimize food waste and to not order more than we can eat. My partner said okay.
We tried to eat as much as could but anyway, we asked for the check and we had some leftovers. They said they'll charge us for that. It was $35 extra dollars. I said why didn't they tell us ahead of time. They said they did and we said okay. And that it says at the bottom of the menu. I was like ma'am, we didn't even look that far down. Why did you not tell us? She said she did and we said "we know". No, we said "we know" to using an iPad. So argued and blamed us. She got very angry. Y'all don't even take cash on weekends so I didn't have enough cash since I didn't calculate for this. But yeah, I had to make it work. This is outright unfair and I'm quite upset. I live in the area and definitely not going back. I didn't even blame them just wanted to highlight that there was a miscommunication and to not charge us. But we were treated horribly. I am in strict budget as a student and this really hurt my wallet lol.
Also- please put menstrual products in the bathrooms. I know it’s not the norm but :)
That's why I had to leave early and on top of that, I was blamed for the miscommunication.

Best all you can eat/all you can drink in Manhattan. I am giving 4 stars because they set a limit of how many pieces of sashimi and sushi you can order per person (20 pieces) which is new and contradicts the concept of all you can eat

I ordered takeout. Maybe because it was a Monday, and fish had been there over the weekend--who knows. But sushi looked kinda limp and weak, and tasted that way too. Not so fresh.

Tried the AYCE sushi and it was great! Service was fast and the staff were friendly but non-intrusive. The vibe was quiet, but that may have to do with the day of the week. If I go again, I’d like to bring a larger group of 5 or 6

Management needs to be more customer oriented, the horrible and arrogant display of managing is awful.

Low quality fish (def among the lowest for the UWS) and sloppy rolls.

A great sushi place in Morningside, good atmosphere and reasonably priced.

We had their all you can eat special.
The food is good, everything was fresh and it looked great but we prefer our sushi simple and some dishes had too much sauce in it. We mostly enjoyed the Sashimi dishes.
Their all you can it is self-service, you get a tablet and order what you want
The food arrived quickly to our place and the staff were really nice.

I checked the reviews before picking this place. I was excited for sushi. But no. The food was okay-ish. I loveeee sushi and I have been to so many places whose food quality is much much better than here. But the worst part was the waiter serving us! He was so rude! We were waiting for a while and just asked him nicely how long it might take, to get an update. He came onto us like we made a mistake by asking this ! He told us “we are very busy with orders today. So its gonna be a while. If you don’t want to wait, you can leave”. Like what ???!!!!!! I just asked a simple question, he could give us the same answer in a normal way ! That’s very mean and if I didn’t waste 20-25 minutes waiting for food, I would have walked out at that exact moment. They really need to work on their customer service! That is so rude and unacceptable! Never going back there.
