Oceans New York, a locally and globally inspired seafood restaurant, was founded by Vancouver’s award-winning Toptable Group with the philosophy of creating a timeless and approachable dining experience. Executive Chef Andy Kitko sets the vision for the menu inspired by the Pacific, Atlantic, and Mediterranean shores that will feature the freshest catches available all accented by seasonal ingredients.
Had the best sashimi I’ve ever had in my life! Aesthetically and taste wise it was perfect. I dipped it in the sauce the shrimp came with and it was amazing wow. What I didn’t like about my experience was the fact that they brought out our entrees while my friend and I were in the restroom. They should’ve waited. By the time we came back my food was cold and I told the server about it. He took it back to get it heated up but that made it a little dry. Going towards the bathroom there’s this cute sit down area where you can take photos.

Thank you for a beautiful date night. I’ll be dreaming about this pasta till I can have it again! It was absolutely phenomenal and so incredibly fresh. Staff was attentive from start to finish, making sure our waters were always refreshed and bringing us warm towels between our entrees. Yudiana was our server and she was so sweet!
Starting our meal off with the tsunami was delicious and the follow up beef tataki was just as good (though the freshness of the tsunami was just amazing and I would recommend that to anyone). The pasta was the star of the show and the seafood that accompanied it elevated the entire dish even further. Probably the best pasta I’ve had in a long while. Wine pairing was perfect! Dessert completed our meal and we both leaned more towards the cheesecake, perfectly tart and not overly sweet (didn’t leave my teeth aching). We found the donuts to be a bit much, but they were kind enough to remove that from our tab when they noticed we hadn’t touched them much.
Will absolutely be back again for another dinner soon! I’m still thinking about that pasta!

I recently dined at Oceans and was thoroughly impressed by the quality and taste of their dishes. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the fresh grilled fish, which was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection, making it easily the best menu item. The restaurant itself offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, with attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to make recommendations. The variety of seafood available ensures there's something for everyone, but if you visit, I highly recommend trying the grilled fish—you won't be disappointed.Overall, Oceans is a must-visit for any seafood lover. I'll definitely be returning to enjoy more of their delectable offerings.

We tried oceans for restaurant week. Had an amazing experience. The service & food was on point & their restaurant week menu made it so easy to pick our selections. We ordered sushi, ceviche, pasta & salmon dishes along with coconuts rice pudding for dessert. The seafood was fresh & tasted delicious. Highly recommend!

This is one of the few restaurants I’d enthusiastically recommend to friends as a conversation starter. The ambiance is captivating, the food is exceptional, and the service is truly impeccable.
The standout dish for me was the Nova Scotia Halibut—light, refreshing, and perfectly prepared. I also sampled my friend’s Alaskan Black Cod, which was phenomenal. It’s an excellent alternative to Nobu’s famous miso-marinated version.
And of course, dessert didn’t disappoint. The molten chocolate cake was exquisite, especially when paired with the vibrant raspberry sorbet.
Next time I’m in NYC, I’m definitely dropping by again.

This place is a MUST visit when in the Union Square area. The selection of drinks is amazing and the food can speak for itself. Having a variety of appetizers to choose from to the different types of seafood and meats make this place a great place to dine. The atmosphere is amazing and it is a great place to come for a special occasion or even for a family dinner. I recommend the King Tuna roll with the halibut entree and finishing up with the blueberry cheesecake :)

Christmas Eve Dinner
We decided to visit Oceon after seeing a glowing TikTok post and made reservations for Christmas Eve. The ambiance looked promising, and we were excited for a festive dining experience.
The restaurant offered a 5-course menu for $165 and a 3-course menu for $125. Given the occasion, I didn’t mind the price point, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations.
Our server, William, provided subpar service throughout the evening. As a person of color, I couldn’t help but feel that our table was treated differently compared to others around us. This left us wondering whether bias played a role, which tainted the entire experience.
Now, onto the food:
• Highlight: The sashimi was the best dish we tried—fresh and flavorful.
• The Rest: Unfortunately, the other courses fell flat, especially considering the premium price. The flavors were underwhelming, and nothing stood out as memorable.
Overall, the evening didn’t justify the hype. While TikTok posts can make places like this seem like must-visit spots, they can often be misleading. Sadly, Oceon was a disappointment for us, and I wouldn’t return.
If you’re considering going, manage your expectations, and perhaps explore other options where both service and food align with the price point.

Had to wait 30 mins to be seated after our reservation when there were visibly open tables they could’ve seated us at. The food was pretty good, but the service not great. Our server wasn’t enthusiastic and seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else. Food took so long that they had to bring us bread so we wouldn’t starve. Not the best experience.

Another NYC Experience: Oceans Restaurant on Park Ave celebrates The Japanese Hokkaido Scallop Festival: fresh imported Scallops - succulent & sweet.
Executive Chef Andy Kitko greets our roundtable of 6 local businessmen to share his illustrious story. He tells us his kitchen is the soul of the restaurant & his culinary team are inspired to create elevated -yet approachable- dishes that highlight locally & globally sourced seafood paired with seasonal produce. We begin with large scallop shells showcasing raw scallops, avocado & an amazing sauce. Yum! Entree is whole grilled branzinos presented tableside with tasty fingerling potatoes and the best mashed potatoes I have ever tasted!! Dessert: plates of warm doughnut holes ala sweet dipping sauces. GM Stefanie & VP Ops David Schneider introduce themselves. They lead an awesome team - AND our “energy bunny” waitress, Judy was PERFECT! Great evening!! Awesome Team! We will return soon.

A grand restaurant, literally a big open space with large bar, sushi counter, fresh fish displayed and open kitchen. Very efficient service with large number of staff members. Food: not consistent, we had an amazing risotto with sea urchin and prawns, but sushi rolls were just ok/ normal. A restaurant for people watching and celebrating special occasions.

My fiancé and I came to celebrate our engagement. We were a bit early for our reservation, so we had cocktails at the bar, then moved to our table. We got the oysters and caviar, then the sake, unagi and A5 nigiri, and finished with more rolls than we could handle. It was AMAZING. Every bite was delectable, the service was seamless. We had multiple people taking care of us, and we felt very welcomed. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. A free dessert was just over the top. We can’t stop gushing. ❤️

Honestly the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in nyc - strictly due to the sommelier Aaron’s service (the other employees Lindy and Barvis were fantastic, and the food was good and decor was cool).
The sommelier was exceptionally rude to us, in my opinion.
- We asked for help choosing a bottle and were relatively vague in our description, instead asking him to suggest something. When he brought the bottle, it was already opened, and he poured us both full glasses without offering a taste first, or even telling us the name of the bottle or describing the wine. This could be fine, except I noticed that for all the other tables I observed, he first showed the bottle, then uncorked, then offered a taste before pouring - as is typically done at this type of restaurant. I’m not sure why we got uncharacteristic treatment.
- Later I called him over to ask the name of our wine and about the bottle, since he hadn’t told us yet. He then described the region and notes, and also said he liked it because it was a “less expensive option” … at which point I realized he never even asked for our price range - I thought it was a bit rude to assume we wanted a less expensive wine, and also verbalize this.
- Later he asked if I’d been to the restaurant before, and I said “no, first time”, to which he did not reply and just turned and walked away.
I’m truly not sure why he chose to treat us differently than other customers in the restaurant. Perhaps a refresher on how to treat all customers respectfully could be helpful.

Was here on 8/18/2024 for Restaurant Week dinner.
Service was good.
Ambience was excellent.
Drinks were stellar.
But the food was extraordinarily bland. It felt like the kitchen reached the end of the week and ran out of ingredients to flavor the dishes. Every single dish we got (2x Appetizers, 2x Entrees, 2x Desserts) tasted like half the amount of flavoring ingredients were used. It was actually bizarre because usually it's just a one-off, but the blandness was consistent through all 6 dishes we got. The quality was there and everything was cooked perfectly... it was just so bland.
Appetizers--
- Ceviche Mixto: Beautiful texture, but was desperately seeking citrus.
- Charred Spanish Octopus: Needed more char/smokiness. Beans had little flavor and detracted from the overall dish.
Entrees--
- Black Cod: Beautifully cooked but just so bland. Needed more yuzu, more concentrated dashi... something.
- Rigatoni Neri: Not enough sauce coating the pasta, so it just tasted like I was eating plain pasta. Pasta texture was dense, doughy, and undercooked. After squeezing two lemon slices and salting it, it finally had some flavor.
Dessert--
Banoffee Pie: Pastry shell was shockingly hard and required a lot of effort to cut through. Filling was, again, bland.
Rice Pudding: Got a whisper of passionfruit flavor (!!), but again, just not enough of it. Was like I got a waft of passionfruit from another room.
Overall, super disappointing. I get "subtle" but when the pendulum swings so far that way, it's just bland. Very sad because I was looking forward to trying this restaurant for such a long time.

Hello Oceans staff, I would like to complain about your service and behavior, it was overall unexpected and unacceptable: the server slapped me across the face when I asked for salt, then in the restaurant I used my phone and got airdropped a photo of American rapper called diddy and the phone was named ‘Oceans member’. Overall I payed too much, 1000 dollars for a steak with a small cocktail. I hate this change it all.

Started with the charred octopus and ceviche, both were great, but the ceviche stood out. Both of us got the Alaskan black cod, the fish itself was awesome, but the vegetables were bland which was a little disappointing considering they were in a dashi. For dessert we had the coconut rice pudding and banoffee pie, both were great ways to end the meal. Pallet cleanse was a passion fruit gelatin. Service was outstanding from the moment we walked in, until the moment we walked out.

Went there during restaurant week and got their pre fixe dinner menu, very good quality with generous portion and awesome service, one of the restaurants that's actually worth going back even after restaurant week.
Cocktails: had the plaid fashioned and superman, both whiskey based drinks and the latter is so good. Plaid fashioned is decent too but a bit too sweet to my taste.
Bread: one of the best bread I had! Surprised no one mentioned how good their focaccia is. Might even go back just for that.
Small plates: tuna roll is good but nothing special. Charred octopus is well seasoned and has a nice texture.
Entree: rigatoni neri seems to be fresh pasta with a sauce that compliments the seafoodjust right. Can't go wrong with medium rare salmon either, the cauliflower couscous with some raisins is awesome.
Dessert: coconut pudding reminds me of a fusion of the Thai mango coconut rice, especially since they use glutinous rice, pretty good. Limoncello is what it is.
Overall, good food, good service, good ambiance, must come back!

The place is gorgeous and the service impeccable. I went there for a lobster roll craving. It was a perfectly toasted thick bun with a tiny bit of the hand part of the lobster claw. No real meat, and barely enough to properly fill half the roll. So disappointing. $35 for the scraps on bread. They must be saving the tails for something else. The ceviche was very well presented, but had many chewy pieces that could have been sliced to avoid it. Cocktails are on point. Octopus was well seasoned. I didn't dare do the oysters. Still searching for my Aquagrill replacement. This isn't it. Sadly.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would.
Exceptional dining experience with friendly, professional and just amazing atmosphere, Oceans is by far the best restaurant I have had the pleasure of dining in.
We arrived not long after 7pm, the place had a lovely vibe to it. Met at the door and walked over to our table. Everything was polished, neat and clean.
I wasn't sure what to expect but after receiving the menu I was definitely feeling like we had picked the right spot. Fish dishes, meat dishes, veggie and just the best of everything, all in one menu!
Our waiter, who apparently worked the bar immediately came to offer water and brought the menus and wine and introduced himself. He promptly made sure our entire evening was world class....but he wasn't the only one.
We ordered a seafood platter to start and some of the fresh Sushi.....but before that arrived we admitted that we wanted to make sure we have the wine sorted and enter the sommelier!!!
After hearing our personal preferences he just said leave it to me......we started with some Blanc de blanc champers and the rest, as they say, was history.
Course after course, the wine was paired perfectly. Following the seafood, then sushi roll we opted for the wagu and some delightful sides, and the wine was perfect.
For dessert, we ordered banoffee pie and the cheesecake with a superb pairing of dessert wine......look I'm not going to try to explain everything, because everything was immaculate and perfect.
Just go and try, and make sure you ask for some recommendations. My pictures will speak more than I could describe....enjoy and tell them the couple from London sent you! 😜
Ps. We also are at the Italian next door the next after, also owned by the same team, and that was absolutely divine also!

I was really looking forward to this restaurant especially with the amount of the high praise in the reviews. However, I was sadly let down. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary, and this place is NOT romantic. It was dark and moody in appearance, but extremely loud. Also they don’t enforce a dress code, there were people in sweats which seemed odd for “fine dining”. The food was okay, not worth the price in my opinion. My husband enjoyed his steak but my sushi and oysters left me unhappy. The drinks were okay, but again not worth the price, very watered down. Lastly, our server was awful, I could hear her interactions with other tables and she was attentive and kind. When it came to us she was very rude and seemed to be rushing us, we were not offered dessert like the tables around us, not that we would’ve ordered any because the food was disappointing enough.
Side note, DO NOT get the lobster Mac n cheese absolutely disgusting, the lobster tasted dirty and chewy and I prefer kraft Mac n cheese over the bland noodles and soup like cheese sauce we were given. Luckily, we were not charged for the Mac n cheese so that was a positive from this place.

Here is a review of the chefs tasting menu and wine pairing at Oceans in New York City:
My wife and I celebrated her birthday with the exceptional chefs tasting menu and exquisite wine pairings at Oceans. From start to finish, it was a night of culinary excellence.
We began with beautifully composed opening bites - tuna tartare and black bass crudo - complemented by crisp, refreshing sparklers. The tuna was paired with a delightful Raventós i Blanc rosé that offered delicate red fruits and pastry notes. My crudo sang alongside a mineral-driven Cremant de Savoie.
The lobster roe linguine course was a revelation, with the tender, briny pasta impeccably matched by a Sonoma Chardonnay's bright salinity and verve.
For our mains, my Scottish salmon arrived perfectly cooked, beautifully plated with lentils, greens, and mushrooms in a lush cream sauce. A Burgundian Pinot Noir provided an aromatic counterpunch of spices and red fruits. My wife's seared scallops were sweet and succulent over an English pea puree, with a Loire Valley Chinon offering vibrant red fruit to accent the gnocchi and brown butter.
Desserts did not disappoint - a decadent chocolate tart and sublime pistachio semifreddo complemented by the caramelized notes of an aged tawny port. As a bonus birthday treat, the kitchen sent out a complimentary celebratory cake paired with a luscious Moscato d'Asti.
The attentive and knowledgeable service, combined with the artful dishes and pitch-perfect wine pairings, made this an evening to remember at Oceans. An indulgent yet balanced tour de force of flavor from an extraordinary kitchen and cellar.

I'm uncertain about what qualifies as expensive in New York City more over on Park Avenue. The price should not determine the value of a restaurant because it is ultimately your choice as a consumer whether you want to spend that money or not.
Naturally, if you do decide to spend a certain amount, your expectations may be higher. Personally, I had a wonderful experience with the best mushroom soup and sushi, and my friends thoroughly enjoyed their drinks. Overall, it was a great experience.

Oceans Restaurant lists itself as a fine dining, locally and globally inspired seafood restaurant. It is located on prestigious Park Avenue around the corner from Union Square in New York City. You enter a beautiful restaurant with white linen service and 'Oceans' monogramed napkins. Everything feels like quality and sets high expectations.
We were greeted by 3 very friendly hosts at the door who quickly showed us to our seat. It was 6pm on a Sunday but there were not many people in the restaurant. Our server greeted us quickly and was kind enough to explain the specials of the evening, which sounded wonderful. There was a scallop appetizer with caviar that was piquing our interest.
I am a martini drinker and I make no excuses about that. I do not drink them often but when I do, I am pretty meticulous about how they are made and more precisely about having 3 blue cheese olives in my dry Grey Goose Martini. Fine steak and seafood restaurants always have blue cheese olives, it is expected. This restaurant had none and seemed hardly apologetic about it at all. This may seem trivial to some but to me it is very important. My experience is that when a fine restaurant does not have blue cheese olives for a staple drink like a classic martini that likely I will wind up disappointed.
We decided to order different drinks, I had an old fashion, which was average. The other drink was also nothing to get excited over. We decided to leave as the dinner experience was spoiled for us at that point.
When you plan to spend a few hundred dollars on dinner you have certain expectations and as a frequent fine diner I have learned to pick up on certain clues and it's ok when you lose the good feeling you had when you go into a restaurant to leave for somewhere else to cut your losses.
I will be rating this restaurant based on the drinks we did order, which were 3-star at best.

Unsure of the hype. Have been a few times now. Each fish dish tastes like it’s been packed on ice for too long; perhaps why they are so firm with using sauces and marinades … Dover sole and salmon not recommended. The crab however was decent.

Some of the best food I’ve had in the city that wasn’t Michelin starred. From the moment we walked in, they way they greeted us and made small talk on the way to our table was lovely and unique.
The wine was top notch, music was great and perfect volume. We did end up ordering way too much food, but it was all so delicious.
Definitely recommend the Rocketman roll, the octopus was very clean and fresh, every bite felt like the first one. The dry aged bone-in NY strip was phenomenal. I did wish we were told it came with greens so we didn’t have to order an extra side dish. The mashed Yukon potatos were perfectly balanced.
The blueberry cheesecake was so light and fluffy, oat crust is key! Could do with a less potent lemon curd, but overall amazing.

Had the seafood tower with lobster - it was phenomenal! Everything was prepared to perfection. The cocktails were amazing. The wagyu was good. If you have not had it before it is worth trying. They prepared it well. They have A5, which is great. I happen to prefer olive wagyu, but that's my personal preference. Everything I've ever ordered has been superb though. You will not be disappointed.

Great for a date night! Came here for restaurant week and the selections were satisfactory. The rolls and ceviche were fresh, the main short ribs and the sauce that paired with it was perfect. My fav was the rigatoni devoured that dish! They decorated one of the dessert plates for my friend bday which was considerate. Loved the whole atmosphere and the chic bathroom in the basement! Also got seated in a table for four so was spacious and got to catch up for longer than we thought they would let us!

Perfect 5! My finance and I went for Restaurant Week. Although the servings were small, they were full of flavor. It's a hefty price tag, but the service you get with the great food makes it worth it!

A perfect quiet, intimate dinner experience that is officially part of our annual Christmas time tradition for a night in NYC. We chose this place for its quality of food, service and level of noise based on reviews. Oceans exceeded every expectation.
The servers were fantastic. The food was up to standard. The noise level was completely low and perfect to have a conversation even at full capacity at one point for a weeknight meaning the acoustics of the main room truly absorb the murmur of voices. That is extremely rare to find in NYC so highly recommend if this is important to you or have sensory sensitivities.
Try booking before 6pm if you want a more empty dining room and potentially better seating option for a rounded booth as they were so comfortable!
The in house made focaccia bread was outstanding, the Spanish octopus was perfect and the plating/portion choices presentation wise were so carefully thought out.
If you like bourbon, try the Rothman as this cocktail in particular was truly one the most unique finds I have come across in a while.
A true gem of the city. Don't miss it.

Plastic in my sushi roll. Looking further into Oceans reveals a C from NYC ABCeating. VP of operations gave the excuse of the chefs receiving new coats for how ended up in the food. Chefs who reportedly can do the delicate knife work to prepare sushi cannot cut off a label? To add insult to injury they are to negligent to ensure the food they serve does not have contaminants.
If you read the publicly available information at abceating you will learn this the norm, not the exception.

OMG this place. A spectacular setting and food to match. Top quality sushi, great seafood, salads and lots of great little touches - like an amazing bread, and a kid’s menu!! Pricey but they nailed it

Oceans is one of the best spots for an all around great dining experience in NYC. The hosts are friendly, the servers greet you almost immediately and the service is so smooth you hardly notice it. Our favorite is the Rocketman roll. We could have had two of them.

First time dining here tonight. Had dinner at the bar and am gluten sensitive. Martin, our bartender and server, was accommodating and knowledgable about the menu and very attentive to my dietary restrictions. The food was wonderful and the room was beautiful. But it was Martin who made the night spectacular.

Not one thing that we ordered was anything other than spectacular. The staff heard it was our anniversary, and made us feel very welcomed and very special. We highly recommend this restaurant on every level!

Located in the middle of the busy Flatiron and Union square neighborhoods of Manhattan, Oceans is a prominent gem with great food and an even better vibe. Service can be a little clunky (multiple servers and sometimes more food than you ordered) but it's a small price to pay for the experience.
The lobster rolls and the rocketman roll are my 'go to" dishes but trust me, the lobster Mac and Cheese and salmon will also leave you satisfied. Skip the dessert and just enjoy the amazing focaccia at the beginning of the meal (you'll thank me).

Whenever I am in New York, I make sure to stop into Oceans and now their neighboring restaurant too! We met Stephanie at another restaurant that is now closed, but she works here now and her colleagues and her always deliver the best service. I love so many things about Oceans. Their desserts are worth getting every time (the lava cake & donuts are my favorite!), and you can never go wrong with steak. The Cacio E Pepe at the neighboring restaurant was phenomenal as well!

Top notch from start to finish. We are certainly not food or restaurant critics, but we travel a lot, and live to find great places to eat. And this one is near the top of our all time list.
First, the drink selections. If you see the two notebooks in the attached photos, that is wine, cocktail, and whisk(e)y selections! You will certainly find your drink there. I'm a whisky guy, so I Ioved seeing a complete scotch selection listed by region. Expensive? Yes, but not the most expensive I have seen, this is an upscale NY restaurant. My wife never calls a cocktail perfect, but she did here with her gin based martini.
Next, the food. A wide range of dishes, seafood, sushi, steaks, and more. The Rocket Man Roll with truffle oil sushi roll was worth every penny and has me wanting to go back soon just for that. The Hawaiian Walu and the dry aged bone-in New York Strip were perfect, and the truffle parmesan fries were a tasty addition.
We were too full for desert, but we must also mention that Steven was a fantastic server. His knowledge and treatment of us was perfect, and we felt like we should be friends by the time we left. Jorge was also great as well as any other staff we came in contact with.
If you want an upscale restaurant with a tasty menu and classy environment, this is a great spot.
