My boyfriend, my friend, her boyfriend and I went there for dinner tonight at around 5:00 pm 01/02/2025. The waitress right off the bat was rude to me and my boyfriend as we arrived first. She had a nasty look on her face. When my friend and her boyfriend got there suddenly a man appeared and started circling around our table staring down my friend who is black mind you. Didn’t happen when it was just me and my boyfriend who are both white. My friend’s boyfriend is also white. When we went around ordering our drinks my friends boyfriend asked for coke. Instead of saying sorry we have Pepsi, she just yelled pepsi at him then stormed off to get the drinks. While we were eating again the man was circling round the table still staring at my black friend who was not loud, being inappropriate or rude or at least not louder than the rest of the white people in the building. Then came time to pay the bill we calculated the amount of money we owed and we should have gotten roughly 9 dollars in change back. However, they shorted us about 5 dollars, we thought maybe they took it for the tip. When she comes back
We hand her the bill trying to ask her about it to which she yells “you didn’t give me a tip you have to circle the tip amount” they gave us no pen so how are we supposed to circle the tip amount? All we wanted to do was ask her a question, and were met with an even nastier response. We still tipped her even tho I don’t think she deserved the tip we gave her with her rude attitude and yelling at us. I wanted to say something but was convinced to just let it go at the time but the more I think about the more I feel this was just discrimination and bad service especially being the only table being watched after my black friend had joined. Yes we did tell them there was 4 people it’s not like we inconvenienced the waitress by randomly last minute adding two people. Honestly wouldn’t come back it’s not worth feeling like we’re being watched and being yelled at.

FOOD
We go strictly for the Hibachi. They start you with soup and salad. Fried rice, Lo mein, fresh grilled veggies, and your meat/chicken/seafood choice. My choice is the Filet and Scallops. It's never disappointed. My wife gets the Gluten-free meal which is plentiful and I'm sure equally good.
SERVICE
The server on Friday was ehhh... going through the motions. Generally they're pretty pleasant and at least efficient. While they do the legwork, the chef is the one doing the meal... which takes us to --->
ATMOSPHERE
Our Hibachi chef was Ocean this time. Yep, pronounced like it's spelled! He was great. There were kids at the table and he was sure to give them special attention.
Don't wanna spoil the entertainment, but Ocean made the experience a lot of fun. Don't forget the saki shots!
COST
Very reasonable for Hibachi. It's BYOB which helps with the expense. Tipping is always tricky! Chef v server... hmmm.

My husband and I went for Hibachi, we tipped the chef and put the rest with the check, 18% tip total. As soon as we handed the waitress the folder she opens it with another girl and questions us about the tip right in front of everyone. I told them we already gave part of the tip to the chef, they continued to stand there talking in another language as if deciding what to do. We were beyond uncomfortable and almost felt as if they were going to prevent us from leaving since they were standing right over us. Needless to say we won't be back. Not to mention the portions were small compared to some other local Hibachi Restaurants.

The food tasted great, the chef wasn’t very interactive. The portions were ver small and skimpy which is shocking. The plates were barely full. It was my fiancé,me and our 3 kids 10& under and charged us a party fee!!! I’ll make the drive to Toms River for now on. Good luck

Where do I even begin… So much didn’t go right and was an awful experience for me and my fiancé on our anniversary. To begin, we arrived at 8pm and they close at 10pm. When we got there we waited 20-30 minutes for a table and waited at least another 30 minutes just for our chef to come and claim to be “very busy”. Only 3 chefs were on duty, so they weren’t busy… they just didn’t have enough people there. How can you have plenty of hibachi tables but not enough chefs on a Sunday night. It wasn’t a logical decision on their part.
Now onto the food… we ordered sushi as an appetizer before the actual food and to our surprise… we apparently ordered sushi with a side of HAIR!!! So awesome, who doesn’t love finding some hair in their sushi. Then it gets better. As we got to our main meal... towards the end little to no surprise AGAIN there was more hair in my fiancés entree. It couldn’t possibly be hers because the hair on the plate was a short brunette strand of hair, while my fiancées hair is long and BLONDE!
Then to conclude, when the time to pay was up, our bill came to around $80, so I tipped $10 in cash (because of the whole hair issue) and our waiter looked at the tip right in front of us and looked at me with a nasty look. I gave him the same look back and he just walked away. Like why are you looking at me with an attitude..? There was 2 pieces of hair that wasn’t ours in our food and we didn’t want to make a scene in front of other people…
Overall this hibachi restaurant didn’t live up to the expectations we had.

This place has delicious food. I love the seafood teriyaki platter. They give you a very large portion of shrimp, lobster, and scallops. For starters, try the shumai and gyoza. It’s a little pricey but totally worth it.

The food is usually delicious and the chefs are great.

The hostes can be a bit nasty. I understand they try to fill the tables but they don't take reservations for 3 people. They demand we sit at the end and around the corner unless there happens to be a small group at the table already. The wait staff aren't the friendliest either.

But the food is usually pretty consistent and we do enjoy it.

Excellent sushi, the fish was very fresh tasting during a busy night. The prices are also very reasonable for the amount of sushi you get. The dinner bento boxes are a great choice if you are looking for variety and value. The atmosphere is very pleasant as you can hear everyone having a great time that is doing the hibachi dinner. If you let the staff know that someone has a birthday in your party they will play a loud birthday song over the intercom and bang a gong for you. Service wise this restaurant is excellent as well as even with a fully packed night our waiter was still able to accommodate our particular allergy concerns.

I have been to Fuji 72 a few times. For me, it takes some effort to maintain a Hibachi & sushi restaurant in New Jersey. The industry seems to be saturated with them.

Fuji 72 does stand out. They are often busy. The menu is consistent. They have a tremendous variety of sushi rolls. Everything I've had there is very good. The presentation is very good for what it is. Plating is one aspect that I think lets Fuji stand out.

It is apparent that time does go into what they serve unlike other establishments in the same genre.

We order five special rolls and two appetizers. The cost was just under $100.00 without the tip.

This establishment is a BYOB.

I went there twice for the hibachi experience. It should be known that there is no reservations for parties of two. The first time we were there, after waiting an hour to get our seats, they attempted seat us behind the chef. I'm not paying to see the chefs back. I denied the seats and sat in the regular restaurant instead. Wasted my time. The food was ok, nothing special, especially at their price. The second time we went, this time they wanted to seat us right away, but again behind the chef! I told them no, I'll wait to get seats in the front of the grill or the side of the grill so I could see the chef work. After we waited an hour, the hostess said we are too busy, we can seat you in the same seats we offered you before. The hostess appeared less than sympathetic, and could careless. We left and will never go back there again. Horrible experiences. The lesson is, if you don't have a group large enough to make a reservation, don't waste your time.

Place dirty, food lousy. Had hibatchi, grill was not clean. When I used a fork to scrape off what was there, I was rudely told it would be cleaned when cooking started, it wasn't. Grease was dripping from hood over grill. Filet mignon was very hard to chew at medium rare, (I think it was steak), scallops were not thoroughly cooked, shrimp had funny taste. Chicken was like rubber. After advising waitress and hostess of issues, they offered no reciprocation and then they stopped me at the door because I didn't leave a tip. Will never go again. Hopefully neither of us get sick.

We had an absolutely horrible experience & wanted to allow for the restaurant to make up for it, but they never did. We arrived at 7:15 pm on a Sunday evening & were told that it would be a 15-20 minute wait for hibachi. We decided to take a regular table instead, but the smell & sounds of the hibachi were overwhelming, so we asked for the hibachi & said we were fine with the wait. They sat us at the hibachi table by 7:30 pm with another family (that's normal & we were fine with it). They took our order & were served our salad (very small, simple lettuce salad with dressing), our drinks, & soup (again small, simple broth). By 8:30 pm we had still been waiting for our meal & asked how much longer it should be as it had been an hour since we sat down & were told that we were the last ones on the list (but not given any more timing). By 9:00 pm still no food, so we asked again (now over 1.5 hours waiting) & didn't receive a clear answer. We spoke with the other family seated with us (they had 3 small children with them) & we all decided to leave (there weren't many places left that were open past 9:00 pm on a Sunday to still try & get food). The manager proceeded to tell us that it takes time to cut all the food for the hibachi, & we responded by saying it doesn't take that long & no one had been able to give us a straight answer as to when we were actually going to get food. We just didn't have the patience to wait any longer especially when they STILL weren't ready to give us our food. We asked for the bill & were rather surprised that they charged us for every detail - the drinks (2 waters & 2 sodas), 4 salads, & 4 soups. A total of $29.86 for never actually receiving our dinner after a 1.5+ hour wait. The manager didn't bat an eye at charging us the full amount & never offered any sort of compensation or rectification of the matter. I understand paying for what we consumed, but I would like to think that some sort of customer service response would have taken place (even a $5 coupon on your next visit), but we never even got an apology for the long wait & repeated deflection of timing on our food, only excuses.

The worst service I’ve ever experienced. I wrongly admitted, I didn’t notice that all the hibachi dinners came with 2 pieces of shrimp, but upon the delivery of the food I noticed shrimp on the plate and informed my waitress of my severe shellfish allergy. She stared at me and then claimed everything was cooked separately and that I can just eat around the shrimp. I called her back over to tell her I can’t risk eating the food because of my allergy, which she then confirmed with the chef then that the meat was in fact cooked with the shrimp. She said she would get the manager. It took 10 minutes for someone to finally come, when she did she looked at me and said “what do you want me to do about it”. She said I wasted food and she would have to charge me for a new plate. I didn’t want to argue so I just agreed to get the check and leave. She then agreed to make me a child’s plate cooked separately at no charge. I was extremely uncomfortable and shocked that their solution was for me to just eat around the shrimp or get charged for wasting food. I was apologetic but was not met with any kindness. They should take allergies more serious

Place was clean and set up nice, Was busy but organized the wait was not long. The chef was quick but didn't put on The best show that I've seen. Food was okay nothing special and portions were not as large as most other Japanese restaurants especially for the price, Not sure if I'd go back. 08-14-23 well I went back, food was cold ( sat at a table this time ) portions were okay, had to remind them of items we ordered that didn't bcome out.Once we got the check I wrote in the tip spot cash as I was going to leave the tip in cash. Staff took the check and came back and asked where was the tip, this is the second time they did this which I do find rude and pushy. Not sure if not tipping is an issue there but don't assume that all people are like that and feel the need to pretty much demand a tip. Won't be back.

Had a very good overall experience. We had a group of 8 and ate at the hibachi cooking area. The "show" is fun to play along with, and our chef prepared our choices perfectly. Several of us had the filet mignon, and it was very tender. My wife thought the shrimp was also very good and had good size portions.

So they gave us the wrong thing my wife and I usually buy about 80 to 100 every time we go there and they gave us a seafood udon noodles when we ordered beef after arguing about the mistake with my wife for 20 minutes she finally said she would do the full refund for just that dinner which was all we wanted considering we threw it away. They charged my account another penny then did refund it but then afterwards the refund was removed from my card. I’m not going to argue over 20 dollars but I will never be returning to this location again and hope this causes them to lose other future business, for 20 bucks on their own mistake they would rather argue and lose the business of a loyal customer, sad but they are busy enough they really don’t need my money but the way they treat you also shows that.

We had an enjoyable hibachi dinner here with a very skilled and entertaining chef serving us. The food was all excellent, although the soup was a bit salty. In fact, the only flaw to the evening was that they were short on chefs that evening. So although we had reservations, we had to wait a half hour to be seated, and it took more than another half hour after we finished the soup and salad courses for the chef to come out.

Food was great! I ordered Beef Sukiyaki and satisfied my craving. We ordered Salmon Teriyaki bento and enjoyed it as well. I love the freshness of the Sushi.
This was my first visit at this restaurant. We had to wait over 30 minutes and waited a while to get asked for our order. It was annoying to have to ask for a waitress to get our order taken. Good thing the food was good.

Update: I didn't actually comprehend what my waitress said to me until I got in my car, but she mentioned my review to me before I even left the restaurant, likely adding to her garbage service.

My waitress made 3 appearances, once to take orders, once to bring the soup and salad, and once to bring a check.

Asked for a desert menu and she told me they don't have one even though I saw a section on their regular menu.

The chef was cool, but the food ultimately wasn't great. Overly soy sauced rice, just tasted like salt, noodles tasted like cardboard, snapper was mooshy, clear soup was watered down, but the ginger dressing was awesome-gotta give credit where it's due.

I also believe they only had 2 chefs (this is wendesday night though) so we waited for about 30-45 minutes after sitting for the chef to actually get to our table.

All in all, go somewhere else.

The website says they are open til 10pm, but if you walk in at 8:45 expect to be turned away from hibachi. When you do make it in, they rush you out. The place has hibachi and also a sit down regular area with booths and tables. There is a fish tank at the entrance and they sell trinkets at the front also by register. Food was good and fairly priced. I haven't tried the hibachi there yet. Service was good but at times felt a little rushed but I guess because they were very busy so no big deal.

Chef was awesome. Super friendly and nice. Waitress was short and not friendly at all. Brought check before even asking if we/kids wanted dessert. Which is really unprofessional. We always tip chef and waitress separately. Sad people don’t even tip the chef. Food is decent. Not amazing.

Birthday cakes should be lit with the candle and walked in not lit at the table after the person already sees the cake. Too much panko crust on their tempura and the vegetables were not great. Too much potato not enough zucchini. No flavor in the potato. The shrimp was okay. Traditional tempura does not have that much batter. No alcohol license. Got rushed through the meal and it seems like they were annoyed that I asked for extra ginger and Wassabi. They did sing and ring the gong for the birthday but it seemed like they were trying to get rid of us the whole time when the place was barely empty I don't know what that was about it was just three quiet people. We have eaten at a lot of traditional Japanese restaurants and the East Coast Japanese restaurants are far from different from the West Coast Japanese restaurants. I think these guys could do better at being traditional and a little better on the birthday protocol. The ladies bathroom was filthy the paper towels hardly came out there was trash everywhere and the toilet was dirty and not flushed and stuff was stuck to the sides of the toilet that was gross.

Went there yesterday with our family (2 babies) and I was so amazed by how wonderful the staff were to us. They kept coming around and entertaining our babies so we could eat without stress. A great environment and great food. Definitely recommend!

The amount of food you get compared to other hibachi restaurants with around the same price that I've been to is half the amount. Not to mention the desert wasn't included and if you got the vegetable hibachi which was mostly onions you are not allowed to get the 2 shrimp like all the other ones it is right in the menu . The cook cooking the food wasn't very engaging with us as much as the other ones I've been to . The waitress never came back to fill our glasses or to ask if we needed anything. Then when she came with the check she ask if we would like more to drink right before we left and only Filled the glass half way when your paying over a hundred and seventy dollars for 3 people thats not what I would expect.One other thing I called a head because they were aways busy when I tried before and she said I needed to make a reservation so I made it for 6 pm we got there early around 5:35 pm and there was no one waiting they still didn't seat us around 6pm. People walked in with no reservation and they sat them and told us to wait. Their were empty tables the whole time we were their .Also when we first came in they were so busy watching and taking pictures of their fish tank. I counted at least 6 of them not taking care of the customer. Needless to say I will never return. And now I know why there busy all the time they do not know how to run a business.

The decor was very nice! Service was spectacular.
My friend and I sat on the sushi side. She was not satisfied with her sushi order. I ordered hibachi (from the sushi side) and I found it to be very bland.
Your experience may be different if you sit on the hibachi side. They definitely put a lot of effort into the look and service so it is also possible we went on an off night.

Went on Tues. for lunch takeout. We ordered Hibachi Steak/scallop combo, a steak hibachi and a sushi roll (which was hot) Scallops were sliced very thin and only got 2 small pieces. Steak was like rubber and full of grizzle, (only got a few pieces) rice was bland, and sauces all watered down. We were charged for 2 sushi rolls and didn’t realize it until we got home. Asked for extra ginger and didn’t get it, and asked for sushi to be made with brown rice and was not. Came to $54. Not worth the price and carrots were bad in veggies, scallops tasted fishy. Not fresh. Now nervous and hoping we don’t get any food born illness. Would have trusted the meat at Taco Bell way more than this joint. Will NEVER go there again.

This place does everything well! The Shumai (pictured below) is a must have here, it melts in your mouth. Likewise, the shrimp tempura and california roll (below) were also very fresh and tasty. The service here was quick and friendly. The place also has a sushi bar and hibachi tables! The restaurant itself is very well decorated, clean and has a great vibe. Would definitely recommend in the area!

We had an AWFUL experience at this restaurant! We came on Friday night expecting to have a wonderful Hibachi dinner experience but everything went downhill just because the server didn’t write my order correctly. I told her that I wanted to have Hibachi Fillet Mignon and Scallop. However, after the Hibachi show, the chef also put Shrimp on my plate on top of those two items. I explained to him that I didn’t order shrimp. He raised his voice at me and showed a little paper that had the server’s handwritten note about everyone’s order, and that I supposed to have shrimp based on that note.

Eventually the manager, two other servers and the chef had a “meeting” regarding that little mishap, they talked quite loudly too, right in front of our Hibachi table, which I thought was very unprofessional.

The server then approached me and said to me that I ordered the shrimp. I told her I never even said the word shrimp. My husband heard me too when I told her my order, that’s why he was surprised when the chef put shrimp on my plate. Furthermore, the combination of shrimp, fillet mignon and scallop was not listed in the menu. Why would I order anything that was not even in the menu. The server then told me not too worry, she’d “take care” of it.

She came back five minutes later to tell me that since I hadn’t ordered the shrimp, she would remove it from my plate. Even though I was shocked when I heard that, I told her yes she was welcomed to do that, to prove my point that I really didn’t order the shrimp. Not long after, she came back with a small plate and a fork, and SCRAPED THE SHRIMP OUT OF MY PLATE while I was eating. I reminded her that each hibachi order came with two pieces of shrimp, and she said, oh yes you could keep two of the shrimp. Our family wasn’t the only one who was shocked by the horrible treatment that we received that night. The other party on our Hibachi table shook their head as the server did that and called her action as “STUPID”. I personally lost my appetite and didn’t go through with my meal. This is a rudeness on another level.

The manager came to the table not to rectify the issue, but to defend their action. Stating that the chef had repeated the order of each person on the table to confirm it was correct. First of all, the restaurant was very noisy and second, the chef was standing behind the Hibachi Table so it was difficult to hear what he was saying. As long as I heard the word Fillet Mignon and Scallop, I just nodded because I didn’t quite understand anything else he said.

We came here with an intention to have a nice family dinner, not to steal a couple pieces of shrimp from them.

This is our first time eating in this restaurant, thinking we could be regular customers every time we visit LBI. But after how this place treated us, we definitely would never come back to this place or recommend this place to anyone!
