We opted for the £95 per person chef selection to sample a variety on our first visit to the restaurant. Beautiful restaurant, had a great time celebrating a friend's birthday. Waiter was very kind and helpful and we tried the chefs tasting menu which was excellent and timed perfectly with each of the four courses coming out separately.

The waitress was inattentive and, by the end of my dining experience, transitioned to rude. I ordered three different items. The miso soup, salmon negimaki, and a kani crab roll. The only decent item was the roll. The soup first came out cold, and the salmon was incredibly oily, and tasted like they just poured sesame oil on it. This was an extremely terrible dining experience, especially since I had been there previously a few times, and it was positive. It had been a while ago, and it seems to have gone downhill.

We decided to take advantage of their Monday $7 special deal. We started with the tempura cheese curd, noodles and tuna avocado. Tuna avocado was great, just tiny. Noodles were the highlight in my option. The cheese curds were … fine.
We ordered 1 of each of the rolls on the special and as expected, they were an aggressive rice to filling ratio. The drinks were good, the lychee mojito was better than melon martini, which was VERY sweet. My SO was very happy with the beer prices and selection.
He also wanted me to make sure to leave a comment of the lack of ginger.

Pretty good dinner at Izakaya before a show. Food was generally great - we had the $95 chefs tasting dinner, which was a lot of food. Ambiance is OK, but it is too dark in the restaurant. Service was generally OK, but food came not too fast in the beginning and then too slow when we asked them to slow things down just a little. Our waiter was nice but often MIA and did not check on us often enough.

Favorite restaurant!!! Amazing atmosphere, incredibly fast service, very clean, everything that we ordered was amazing! It’s very hard to have it all at the same place. But this is the place! Highly recommended!

Wonderful food & service!

Our server Sal & Ming were so attentive even when it was busy!! Honestly, one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve ever had.

We got so many delicious apps! The pork gyoza was amazing! The beef waygu fried rice was amazing too! We highly recommend this place and will be back on our next trip to Borgata! We thought this place would be good but not stand out in anyway and we were wrong!

I’ve been coming here for 4 years straight. I can not come to Atlantic without eating here. Sometimes i might even eat here twice during my stay. Staff is incredible kind respectful always friendly faces. My wife didn’t eat sushi until we started dining here and I begged her to try since then i can’t get her to stop. We love everything on the menu :

Tuna Appetizer
Chicken wings
Ginger Salad
Steak skewers
And the Sushi roll dessert ughhhhh unbelievable.

Service staff was on the ball too. Prompt water refills, plate clearing, etc. Great work by ALL of the staff both front and back of house.

It's simply amazing. High-end interior, but prices are very low
The atmosphere is amazing and definitely has a wow effect. It is a great spot to go to for an event or visitors.

Sharing is not recommended. Portions are small if you buy the a la carte. When they said skew they should have said tooth pick. My duck was the size of a postage stamp. Entrees are slightly larger. Best value short ribs and fried rice. All in all the experience and atmosphere was beautiful. Taste was delicious but left you wanting more.

The place was too dark to see where you were walking and the menus. The waiter was not very helpful when we asked questions about the menu. I ordered chicken on the stick and egg plant. None of the food came out together ( some of our group had sushi, I had hot food) My chicken was literally one bite and my eggplant was two small pieces. The waiter should have been clear that it wouldn't be enough food for a meal. There was only one choice for dessert and no one said it was big enough for the whole table because there was no dessert menu. The waiter screwed up our orders. Waited forever for drinks and he wasnt really engaged in serving us because he didnt even finish taking our order before he turned away. I wont be going back. Disappointing to say the least.

My first visit to Izakaya was phenomenal! Our waiter was Paul and he was super!! We were seated in a beautiful spot on a comfortable couch across from the wine room by the entrance. It was dark and had a zen like feeling although I still felt like I was in the middle of all the action. We ordered a bunch of all different small plates in order to hit the popular highlights of this restaurant. Sushi was good but the noodles from the Monday menu was both our top favorite. Bbq was excellent. Salmon was incredible, Korean BBQ rib was beyond great, Kani salad was wonderful. We packed up food cause I ordered too much but wanted to try everything. I would've gotten the tasting menu but my boyfriend didn't want to eat all the food on it. The sushi dessert was also excellent. We WILL be back soon! This is my new favorite restaurant in AC! Thanks to Paul our waiter for making it a great experience!!

Truly amazing restaurant and experience for my wife and I. It was our second time eating here and I didn't realize or remember how much we loved it. One of our favorite places to eat. The service was impeccable and the prices are incredible. There are so many menu options. It's small plate style and order as you want until you are full. Hot and cold appetizers, Japanese BBQ skewers, entrees, sides, sushi and dessert. Nice wine options and good prices. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely delicious food. Had some sake to drink and enjoyed a few pieces of sushi. Without a doubt the best sushi I have ever eaten, both the tuna and salmon fell apart in your mouth. Absolutely will go back when in the hotel next.

Amazing experience! We had our 1 year wedding anniversary here this past weekend, and I can't say enough good things about this restaurant and the service. We had Kelly as our server, and she was outstanding. We will definitely be back!

Brett was absolutely amazing. Getting excellent service at restaurants is great, but common. Brett was well-beyond excellent. Next time I go back to Borgata, Izakaya will be the main event. Wish I could give 10 stars for service.

Jim is absolutely fabulous waiter, the bar back Jose was wonderful, the food was amazing, the atmosphere is so zen and quiet. Jim overheard us cheering over our 2 year wedding anniversary and made sure we were celebrating with chocolate cake. This restaurant is amazing. The food is magnificent. Cocktails are 5 stars. My partner and I were initially skeptical about dining with Izakaya because we have been loyal to other sushi/Japanese spots in the AC/ uptown area however, we are so glad that we dined with Izakaya because what we experienced was other worldly. Our server, Sal, was not only knowledgeable about the menu but he was friendly, poised, and humorous. Jeff- the busser- accompanied Sal and as a team, they provided an unforgettable experience. The dishes under the $95 chefs testing course were decadent, unique, and comforting. My palate was fully exercised with these dishes and I am not only stuffed but satisfied. I will hopefully be dining back soon. Sal recommended us the perfect drinks to accompany the dishes and to say the least my expectations were exceeded. I can’t wait to return to izakaya.

The worst foods I’ve ever had in my life. Yakitori are very dry, overcooked and burn. Not enough sauce. Sushi is not authentic and definitively not prepared by Japanese chef. Wagyu Fried rice are dried like undercooked rice. Fried chicken are cold and not crunchy at all. The chicken size is like your palm but won’t give you a knife. Rolls are like take sushi rolls you get in grocery store.

Seem to gone a little downhill. My first experience there was phenomenal. Second, not so good. The food was over cooked, service was just ok, and the use of the cell phone lights from everyone trying to read their menus in the dark, will blind you. Maybe management should consider turning the lights up a little more. Not sure if I will return anytime soon.

I normally never leave a bad review however, this past Saturday calls for major attention to this restaurant's male host. On Saturday, 8/5 I walked to the hostess to try to make reservations for 2. The male host, said we are fully booked. I found his demeanor off.... As clearly, I was not dressed for dinner as I was in gym clothes however I am heavily tatted. I obviously was not going to attend dinner in what I was wearing. Out of curiosity I went online just to see if there in fact was availability and YES there were 3 open time slots for dinner same day as this gentleman told me again they were "fully booked"! I booked reservations for 8:45pm.
*NOTE: I run a 32 million dollar company in Midtown Manhattan. Furthermore, to judge or discriminate someone based off their appearance and / or love of ink artwork is beyond ignorant. Most people would of not wanted to eat here at this restaurant however I am an advocate for people to wake up and to do better. We returned for our 8:45pm reservation and of course I was dressed for dinner and not my gym attire.

The food and ambiance was amazing!
The lychee martini, the grilled octopus, grilled scallops, salmon entree and all were outstanding!

The male hostess who declined taking my reservation does need proper etiquette and training. If I had a party of 30 with me that evening that is a HUGE loss. Luckily it was just a party of 2. Hopefully he will do better and not make assumptions or judgments moving forward.....

We ordered lots of little bites lamb , duck , scallops, chicken, dumplings sliders , fried rice all were very good . Shrimp tempura was excellent the other roll was good not great. Beautiful, modern, romantic NYC-style restaurant. They missed the mark with the sushi rolls though, as they were basic cheap rolls you get at a local sushi spots. They should have the larger specialty rolls available that have a ton of flavor. The drinks were too sweet but did have enough sake in them. The Miso soup and rock shrimp was great. The server was very nice and attentive. Overall I would say it is a great dinner spot but their menu needs added variety and better sushi rolls. I may come back to try other dishes like the chicken and sliders that others seem to rave about.

I must say, outstanding evening all around. My server was incredibly accommodating and attentive throughout my experience. Just a genuinely nice guy. The GM Matt does it all. He was in his pressed suit running food, tending to the host stand, behind the bar, and even sat down with us for a few minutes and struck up a conversation. I wanted him to join us! Seriously, I’ll be back because of the service, never mind the food (which was incredible).

We like the Monday night $7 small plates specials, otherwise it’s a little pricey compared to other sushi restaurants. Their Tuna Avocado bowl is always good and fresh, and my husband loves their Shrimp Fried Rice. The sushi rolls are not very large compared to most other sushi restaurants, or they make them smaller for the $7 plates.

Highly disappointed. It used to be one of our favorites, but last trip was an utter disappointment. Their robatayaki used to be awesome. Each meat or.ceggies used to have different flavors. Now everything seems to have the same flavor. The lamb chop had absolutely no seasoning at all, not even salt. The items were also tasting like they were rushed. Generally bland, the flavors added as an afterthought. Seems like they just have one chef on robatayaki on a busy Saturday and the quality shows. Sushi was average at best. Nothing we had stood up to the old quality. Certainly not worth taking a drive to AC.

Trendy vibes. Very dark interior with dim lighting. Came with a large group and ordered drinks and food to share. Pear lychee martini is supposedly the most popular drink and it was delish.

Some of our favorites were: Hot Oil Yellowtail, Tuna Avocado, Crispy Rock Shrimp, Wagyu Beef Rice, Charred Chilean Sea Bass, and Big Eye Tuna Roll

Great service from Michael the server. Helped us order the perfect amount and was very attentive. Dishes came out pretty fast. Our go to when at Borgata.

I was greeted and seated very fast! All the servers were attentive. I wish there was more kimchi in the fried rice. All the food was good. The sashimi was on point. Next time I may just order that! The rice and filet were good but nothing to rave about.

This was my first time dining at Izakaya. The service was excellent, the waiter was courteous and the food delicious. I had the seafood entree and my husband had the beef short rib. The broth in my seafood bowl was so flavorful. The shrimp rice was seasoned to perfection and the veggies were as well. We're definitely going to go again.
The ambiance is a welcome addition.

Highly suggest the happy hour deal on Mondays. You can try some of the food items for a fraction of the price which is good if you've never been there. Bar area is good. Make sure your bartender knows what drink you ordered, everytime we ordered our drink they always made the wrong one and it was so busy we could never get them to come back to let them know.

My waiter Mitchell I think - shoot I forget his name and meant to take a pic of the bill so I could request him next time - he was awesome and really added to me enjoying the experience - I dined alone but ordered the full tasting menu for two and he was awesome. Thank you and a suggestion is that it would be cool if next time I come down and wanted to order the tasting menu could sub some stuff out to try other menu items but I get it and understand that’s difficult!

All I can say is WOW!! My sister brought me here for a early bday dinner. Although it’s extremely dark in the restaurant and very loud we really enjoyed our meal. Our server Jeffre J was awesome very polite , attentive when we needed something. They were extremely busy when we went but the food came out little by little which was nice so we could savor each dish 😋 we ordered a Ming mule and lychee martini delicious and we had all small dishes and a few sushi/sashimi pieces. Each of our dishes were full of flavor and left you wanting more. The edamame dumplings were light and had good flavor definitely a must try along with the duck scrapple. The jalapeño yellowtail OMG 😳. Now is you will try and sushi or sashimi the Tuna , salmon and yellowtail Toro tasted like butter it just melts in your mouth . This place is a must try if you are making a trip to AC and you are in the mood for some Asian fusion.

Izakaya is located in the Borgata. They serve Japanese tapas like plates, sushi and mains.

Everything I ate I loved with the exception of the edamame dumplings, which tasted smokey to me and was in a soup.

We ate: hot oil yellowtail, edamame dumplings, toro tuna sashimi, scallop sushi, Korean bbq robatayaki (skewers), mahi taco, and the wagyu fried rice (delicious could have more meat)

All was very tasty and the environment is very nice. It’s got a Tao-like vibe. The low lighting is very low tho

Sever ignore you when sitting for 15 min. Asked to clean the table 3 times. Spend over $50 and I still tip 15 percent for terrible service. Took forever to get the check. Food was good. Bar sever was terrible. Timestamp 9:25pm, 9/19/2022.

I love izakayas! So when I saw the name of the restaurant, of course, we ate here. The food did not disappoint. So yummy. The timing was a little off though, but it may have seem more extreme because I was hungry. They brought our drinks and first two dishes pretty quickly. Then there was a pause for a bit, and then everything else came. The person who clears the plates though was amazingly efficient. Will definitely come back again.

Very good appetizers.
Must try the Wagyu beef slides, and the Kinki chicken wings they are so so good n delicious!! The beef short ribs was tender n juicy.
Ordered the shrimp tempura roll, not fresh had a peculiar taste but they were very accommodating and removed from the bill.
Overall I would definitely come back here.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE
We had a 6:30 reservation for 4 on Saturday evening. We were looking forward to eating there, we arrived promptly and ordered our food. The table we were seated at had a broken leg and kept rocking, spilling our drinks. We asked to be moved to an available table for 4 which was near ours. The staff tried but was unable to fix our table. The manager, Matt, said the table was reserved for an 8:30 seating...1-1/2 hours later! Matt was unprofessional and ignored a simple solution. Rather than help the situation, we argued and then he asked us to leave. I have never, ever been treated like this.
STAY AWAY there are better options where the management actually cares.

We had THE BEST dinner here and honestly the best waiter service ever. Our waiter, I think his name was Michael if I recall from the receipt, was phenomenal. He was constantly checking his tables from afar and refilled my water glass the second I could put it down. He saw I had a confused look on my face about a menu item and ran over before I could look up. He was literally anticipating our questions and anything we needed before we needed it. The food was phenomenal, he made some great recommendations and allowed us to keep ordering based on what we liked and wanted more of. I also did not have time to sneak away to tell him we were celebrating a birthday, but he brought over a birthday dessert because he actually read the reservation comments. Thank you for your amazing service. We said we haven't had waiter service this great in many years, especially not since COVID. We highly recommend everything on this menu but we LOVED the korean bbq, lambchops and tuna appetizer on rice cakes. In fact, we had a horrible experience the following night at another resort's fine dining establishment and said we wished we made a reservation here for both nights instead. We will be back whenever we are in town. Thank you again.

Great place to eat.I took my wife and another couple here for her birthday. The staff was very accommodating, professional, courtesy, and efficient. It was our first time there but won't be our last. I highly recommend this restaurant. It worth the wait.

Overall great experience! The atmosphere is lovely, waitstaff friendly and the food was fantastic! We did wish they would have checked in a bit more so we could order more! The open kitchen style was quite fun and it was some of the best food we had on our trip!!

Sampled all the sides and the broccoli and brussel sprouts were delicious! Loved the skewers of mushrooms and chicken as well. Big eye tuna roll was awesome. Our waitress was lovely and provided great service!

Besides our appetizer the food was awesome. We ordered the albacore tuna tataki , it was sooo small. Service was really good. The Big Eye tuna roll was fantastic.

This was a disappointment tonight. Let me start with the waitress was phenomenal, the food was delicious and came out quickly. BUT…..the table top was disgusting. My son put his paper napkin down and it stuck to it. The table was so sticky and dirty. Then the bus boy!! Ugh!! He was rushing us. He kept grabbing plates when there was still food on them. I finally had to tell him to please take the plates that I’ve placed to the side, not the ones with food still on them. I’ve eaten here over 20 times for different occasions and this is the 1st time it’s happened. There were several tables empty around us so it wasn’t like they were terribly busy. We sat at 7:05 and by 7:45 all plates were taken away. We were rushing to eat everything before it was taken away. Not a relaxing birthday dinner for my husband. So bummed.

Made an appointment ahead of time and was taken right in. The ambiance is great. Took us a while to get seen by a waiter but they were quite busy. Highly recommend the scallops, fried chicken, Korean BBQ, and the gyoza. But the waygu fried rice was lackluster. Overall, enjoyed the visit and would definitely be back.

Izakaya was for the most part a really nice dining experience. The portions are small for everything on the menu. Everything we had very very good from the soup dumplings to the duck scrapple bun (they should rename this duck bao buns. Calling something scrapple makes me think of cheap military food. We would have ordered more if they were called bao buns. Pork dumplings were good, but having them all cemented into 1 giant crispy bread like thing was is a waste and difficult to eat with chopsticks. Dump that tasteless bread like thing and give me 1 more dumpling which were good. Shrimp fried rice was good but not great. Lastly I want to talk about what nearly made this a 1 star review... The nori crusted filet. Having eaten at a too NYC steakhouse a few days ago I was expecting a $34 filet to be small, but I asked our waiter and we were told is was 5 ounces. The portion size was slightly smaller than my thumb. It was the smallest portion of any item we ordered. Having had a 12 oz two nights ago elsewhere in midtown Manhattan for $68 I was expecting more, not a lot more but not something much smaller than EVERYTHING else in the menu ordered at Izakaya. With that said it was very good steak or meatball just not worth the price.

First time dining at Izakaya. Love the dark, romantic ambiance. Service was attentive, polite and very professional. We ordered from the Tasting Menu. We absolutely love everything they brought out. Very tasty, yet delicate and mild. All the meals were sized appropriately. We look forward to dining at Izakaya again.

Slow service, lengthily wait times for our food. The appetizers came well after our main courses and made no sense. Had high hopes and will definitely not be returning nor recommending this establishment to anyone I know.

Fantastic food as always, just everything about it, the quality, the selection and the originality. Would love to give it a five, however this time the service was a little off. The server seemed to be somewhat indifferent and spaced out. Also wish the menu or the server for that matter would mention the level of spiciness for the dishes. Regardless willmost definitely go back.

I travel a lot to Atlantic city for business and we took some clients to Izakaya for dinner. It did not disappoint! The food was insanely good and our waitress was top notch. Easily one of the best meals I've had ever in NJ. This has become a must stop every time I'm in the area. My favorite thing was the duck bun, ridiculously delicious.

Izakaya is traditionally “Japanese pub food”. This was more “inspired” by an Izakaya but it’s not super traditional. Which I get, you need to appeal to a broader audience when you’re located in a casino. But as a Japanese, when they mix in Chinese dishes or other Asian inspired food but pass it off as Japanese, it’s slightly annoying. The place was packed and food was prompt but our waiter needed to check-in a bit more often. The Robtayaki (grilled skewers) are pretty legit and I would be adventurous and order off the menu vs the “tasting menu”. It was quite delish!

Waiter messed up our order refusing to acknowledge that we were waiting on the Yellowtail sushi, didn't call last call so when we set the second half of our order he gave the cold shoulder not to put in an order.

Ribs were cold, lacked flavor(Pork not beef which isn't mentioned on menu)
Split one with my colleague we both disliked the dise leaving two pieces to waste

Fried chicken was very good. Best thing out of all the options we tried

Sushi had a funky strange smoke taste that didn't that didn't feel good eating as the smell/tasye was overpowering

The beef skewers was overcooked and tasted like a moist slab of leather

This restaurant has beautiful ambiance. Very nice for a date. The serving sizes are small but you have to understand you are paying for the quality. The food is phenomenal! Not an every day restaurant, but I will definitely be back for a celebration!

I’ve eaten at a lot of places! From Philly to Louisiana to Cali. Hands down this food is amazing! We will be eating here at least 1 every month! Also our waiter Bryant was great! Very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful!

Was there 10/25/2021…. Right quadrant of table was disgustingly sticky… waitress not to be found… tried to clean it with water and napkin…did not work…. Gross…. “Rock Shrimp “ WAS NOT “Rock Shrimp” - no apology or explanation…. Fried chicken dish we ordered never showed up - just like our waitress…. We found out they ran out of chicken for from table next to us when their waiter explained…. Could not even order a 2nd drink since never saw waitress…. Waitress smart enough to show up to give us a check… I was smart enough to give a 10% tip..

I haven’t dined here in about ten years since I always gravitate towards Old Homestead or Angeline, but figured I’d revisit. The service was great and very attentive. I ordered the miso soup and glazed salmon. Unfortunately the soup came out within 1 minute of ordering and it was luke warm, which means it’s premade and the tofu eventually turned. The tofu was chewy, the broth salty, and the scallion way over powering. The enoki mushrooms were the best part. I couldn’t shake the scallion taste even after the salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It arrived shortly after my soup. The waiter did say they have 3 different kitchens, which makes it a faster meal. I finished my meal within 20 minutes of arriving. Fastest $50 meal I’ve had. It didn’t give me the experience I wanted to return again. There was really no wow factor for me. And on a side note, it was remarkably dark inside.

My husband loves this place, I liked it but wasn't outstanding. Some of the food was over salty. I did like that you can order the small plates this way you can try a lot of different things and if you like something you can order more and if you don't like something you aren't wasting a ton of food.

Overall good experience. We did the tasting menu-lots of variety and food was yummy. Only took off one star because even though our food came out very quickly we waited over 30 for dessert to come out. Other than that everything was nice and our waiter was great.

We were completely disappointed with the food and service at this restaurant!! We ordered the tasting for two but never received the third course. They brought out the dessert and the bill for a tasting for two. When we told the waiter we never got the third course he wanted to bring it then!! The food was over salted & the flavors were terrible. We will not be going back to this restaurant or recommending it to anyone.

Let's start with Simon. THE absolute best server I've ever had. You'd think he was the owner of the establishment. With his extensive knowledge of the menu and his passion about the quality of the food we were about to eat. Boy was he right. A night out for dinner with my lady, became an amazing dining experience. "Best meal I've ever had" My girlfriend and I uttered verbatim after we finished our dessert. I know it sounds fake, but I swear this is real af! Fresh, savory and absolutely delicious! Every single bite! From our appetizers, to our entrees, to our Sake. Honestly, my mouth is watering just thinking about it, so I have to stop now. Just take my word for it. This will be a game changing dining experience.

First impression was great. The ambiance was lovely dark and candlelit. It maybe too dark for some but it feels elegant. Came here on Monday night they do have a special menu with some discounted items. We got lucky we didn't expect to stay the extra night and we didn't have a reservation (which is needed due to its popularity) but we were seated right away.
It is a tapas based restaurant so be forewarned the portions are small but everything tasted good. Our waiter Simon was so great he made the night so much better. He was very good at explaining the menu and what each item was. He is what every waiter should be. I can't tell you how great he was. The drinks were good we had sake and a martini. We will definitely be back.

Reservation is necessary. Otherwise, a long line and waiting time. Their Menu is a piece of paper with very tiny fonts. Very difficult to read the menu. I had to use a flashlight to read it. The food took awhile to arrive. I will never dine here on Friday and Saturday. Again. Our waiter is covering too many tables.

The staff was very friendly and the food was great. They have socially distant seating which was being observed properly. The food came out quickly and was high quality.
The salmon was well one and tasted fresh.
The Fish tacos were also very flavorful and mildly spicy.
My only complaint is that the portion sizes are very small. While they do tell you this ahead of time, it is still frustrating.
