Food was a complete miss tonight 12/20
Came in Starving around 7:45 For a party of 2 & have always heard great things about this place, hence why we tried it tonight.
We were was sat right away & ordered Apps ( Mussels, Calamari)
Which were super cold and chewy.
Then ordered 4 rolls that were average at best (2/10.)
We got grossed out by the Quality of the food and Just asked for the tab.
$72 For below average sushi and apps for 2 people was a huge lesson we learned and wanted to share with everyone.
The service was good & fast, that was the only plus.
Besides that save your $ and go to Somewhere else. :(

I don't know. It's a good deal to do "all you can" because if you don't, you'll be hungry as you walk out the door. The portions are very small, POLLY POCKET small. It does taste freshish (if that's a word), but it's definitely not the best sushi I've ever had.
Service was a bit slow, but we got everything we ordered. We didn't like that they were using the paper-check mark-what you want every time you want to order something. A new set of papers every time? Get with the times and save a tree or two and get an iPad.
Would I come again? 🤔 No. I'll take my chances and try a different place.

The perfect spot for lunch or dinner! I've recently visited this charming mom-and-pop Japanese diner and have been absolutely delighted both times! Although it’s not an all-you-can-eat sushi place, this restaurant is a must-visit for sushi lovers. They are renowned for their unique black rice rolls, and the menu offers a wide variety of both sushi and non-sushi options, so there is a lot to choose from! They have great options like bento boxes which gives you a lot of food for a great price including things like veg tempura, miso soup, salad, rice, a sushi roll, and 2 additional entrees! The salmon teriyaki and chicken katsu were great.
The food was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the service was top-notch. There are lots of drinks to choose from including sake, beer, and wine. Tristan and Katie were excellent servers, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The managers are also very nice and friendly. The ambiance is fun and lively, with neon signs and fish kite decor adding to the fun atmosphere.
If you're planning to bring a group of 7 or more, I highly recommend calling ahead to make a reservation, which you can also do on the same day. They only have 4 booths available, tables, and a sushi bar. Overall, wonderful experience and I highly recommend.

Came on a Tuesday night and it was surprisingly busy! Got seated right away and overall served very quickly. Did the all you can eat and everything came out quick and tasted great. Our server was super friendly- so shout out to Nick, you’re great. Overall made for a nice hassle free date night with great food!

I brought my 11-year-old daughter in here because I saw online that there was a discounted price for children with the all you can eat sushi. We came in here and looked at the menu and the menu also reflected that there was a lower price for children. After we ate, I got the bill and I was charged the adult price for both myself and daughter. Online it shows that Children up to 11 years old get the discounted price. The menu has been since updated and does not have an age limit specified for the children's price. When I confronted the server about it, she told me that it is for nine and under. How many 9-year-olds do you know that order all you can eat sushi? It's like she just made a number up looking at my child and guessed that she was older than nine. Honestly, not the best sushi either, but that was not my complaint. The customer service was lousy. They did not even offer to make things right. If you are going to charge a child full price for all you can eat sushi than please don't advertise on the menu that you have a discount for children. Also, I wanted to add that it seems like this place has really gone downhill in quality since a couple years. I never write bad reviews. But at this point I am simply appalled. I will not eat here again.

I visited Hiroba Sushi on a Saturday evening and I knew something was off when it was empty not like it used to back when they were on Skyline. The mussels were served cold and hard and out of the shells. after being replaced, they were still cold, when I asked the waitress to remove them to make space on my table , she seemed upset and said I just cooked them, just walked away and offered no apology.
Shortly after, another staff member approached aggressively, without introducing herself, and asked, “Is there a problem with the food?” I explained the situation, but she interrupted to say, “They’re cold because of the sauce” and added, “Next time I’ll have to charge you.” I said I wasn’t looking to order more and right there and then my partner did not want to eat any more. Their attitudes were ugly and made an already frustrating experience worse.
The sushi was bland and lacked the quality I used to love when Hiroba was located on Skyline. On top of that, their pricing is very high, and they don’t offer child prices, which makes dining with family even less appealing. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Hiroba Sushi is, hands down, the best in northern Nevada. Rolls are tight and sliced into bite-sized pieces. Servers happily tell you what each item is as they serve you, which can be quite a task when they are bringing half the menu to your table, as I usually order. The service is very fast and attentive, which is key to AYCE dining. I really like the Tundra hand roll, and before dessert, I heat things up with the super spicy Challenge roll. So grab some friends, some Sake, a few Sapporos, and enjoy Hiroba Sushi!! 🍣

Hiroba Sushi presents an exceptional deal with free unlimited hot sake pairings available from Tuesday to Friday, between 3 PM and 5 PM. This offers an excellent opportunity for sake enthusiasts to indulge in unlimited hot sake during these hours. I would love to enjoy a sake bomb shot, combining sake with beer, such as an Asake (Asahi + Sake).

I placed an order on Door dash, that was not the problem. I always call the restaurant ahead of time to let them know I have a shell fish allergy and to please clean the board before preparing my food. The lady I spoke to at 6:40pm on 4-3-2024 would not listen to me, interrupted me and said it was too late to inform them even though I had just placed the order at 6:38pm. I informed her that I had just placed the order and that was impossible. But she still insisted it was too busy and that could not be done. I then told her that I have never had an issue with this and I did not understand why she was not taking this serious. She then said Okay fine I will let them know. I don't even trust her word. Calling back to speak to a manager.

This restaurant isn't it, they were extremely rude and horrible service. My boyfriend and I were the only ones in the restaurant and they all practically refused to serve us. We've heard stories from our friends of this restaurant being slightly racist due to the fact we are an interracial couple but we didn't think they would talk horrible about us right in front of us or make our roll horrible on purpose. They took forever to make our rolls and the waitresses was glaring us. It was a very uncomfortable experience. We will never be going back.

Had to come back and update my review. I had an amazing lunch. I feel like it just gets better, an bettter. I think the best way to say it is they don't over sriracha. I don't mind the flavor but I go to some places and it seems like I am eating just siracha. It makes me nervous cause can't taste the fish. I can taste everything. Great flavor. More of these places should take a hint from a great place.

It has been years since I had Hiroba, the undisputed king of Reno sushi. It is sad to see the depth they have fallen. Unfortunately, as excited as I was to relive the greatness that once was, I now see at least one reason why the owners must have split the business to go separate ways.
I typically only write negative reviews if there are a multitude of conpounding negative takeaways, but sadly here I am...
First, my inital order of appetizers came back missing two orders of mussels, a small inconsequential issue since it's all you can eat. However, the mussels also had clearly been sitting for a while because they were beyond cold.
My second and third orders of appetisers were also 2 orders short and 5.5 orders short respectively which I was subsequently told was due to a limit on appetizers, and I would not be permitted a 4th order. This was all I had really eaten because I enjoy appetizers more than sushi and will pick at my companies rolls when they get full. I typically would have no issue with this rule as many sushi restaurants may limit certain appetizers. However typically it is clearly indicated on the menu. Hiroba had no such information anywhere.
Third, my wife ordered the strawberry special drink, which she described as "moldy" I don't know if I would use this word, but it did feel off when compared to the mango variation.
Fourth, we were eating at the corner table and the table next to us was unused. It was 3:30 or so, so there wasn't too much traffic on any of the tables. I placed my empty plates on the table next to me, to ensure there is one less distraction that my baby might knock off the table. I was reprimanded for putting my finished dishes on the table next to me. I respected the wish and kept my finished plates on my table until taken.
After all of this, I issued no complaints. The rolls were also small, but it's all you can eat and they tasted satisfactory. The final icing on the cake was when I received the bill, I had a mandatory tip on the bill. This is for orders of 5 or more. I ordered 2 all you can eat and two kids' meals. However, because I ordered an additional drink for my baby who didn't eat a bite of food I was told it was over 4. I didnt voice this, but if it was over 4, I should have been allowed more than one tiny 4 person table for our plates. At this point, I was frustrated and the manager spoke with me with what I thought was an attempt to remedy the situation as most managers would. However, instead of taking an ounce of accountability for the litany of missteps, I was told I shouldn't have ordered the food I did. My appetite was wrong and didn't fit the business model. I was unprofitable, and it's not worth indicating the restrictions on the menu for people like me. To be clear, I weigh about 160 lbs and probably eat less volume than my average friends.
This was the fifth strike and the last star gone. I wish Hiroba remained the Reno gem it once was when it sat on its hill in old Reno.
I finished my meal ordering various food I didn't want because I wasn't satiated but wanted to at least eat my fill.
The mochi was good though.

Used to be a huge fan of Hiroba Sushi but, my last visit, was one the worst sushi experiences I've had in a long time. The waitress didn't seem to care much about checking up on me, despite not many customers in the restaurant and the seafood tasted bland and boring compared to many other options in the city. I also had numerous flies buzzing all over the place! I highly advise everyone to take their money elsewhere!

Recommended by a fellow that lives in a neighboring town. DID. NOT. DISSAPPOINT!! We are those jerks that didn’t realize they closed at 8 instead of 830 and we walked in maybe 7 minutes to close time. We probably would have left, but our server (Betsa) greeted us at the door and didn’t even hesitate getting us a table. She warned us we would have to order pretty much right away since the kitchen would be closing. We had the all you can eat, our food came out quickly and the food was amazing. They had us out in 45 minutes, wishing us safe travels and hoping to see us next year. 10/10 recommend and we will be back!

Food was great. Service was horrible. We had to keep stacking our plates because they weren't coming by to check on us. The 2 girls there were too busy talking to each other to come to the table. At one point I had to wave my paper in the air because eye contact twice didn't work. Our empty glasses sat at the end of the table for 15 minutes before more eye contact finally got their attention. For most of our visit there was only 1 other table seated. Then another about half way through our visit. Not sure what the problem was. Food will make us want to go back, not service.

The waitress seemed as if she didn't want to be there. Having a direct view of their messy kitchen was not a pleasant atmosphere. The Unagi sauce was good. The Tempura Bananas was wonderful. 3 people had dinner for $112.00 = will not go there again.

Enjoyed my dinner tonight. I love traditional rolls and sushi so my review is based on the nigiri and 2 rolls I ordered.
I used to go to hiroba back at their original location over 10 years ago, the menu is slightly condensed from what I remember, but its straight forward AYCE sushi.
I really enjoyed the sake nigiri, ikura, ika, and Cajun tuna. The quality of fish is not going to be your fine dining sushi spot, but its definitely am AYCE quality kind of place. They make their sushi with effort so I didn't feel like I got any bad rolls or pieces. Quality could be better but for the price it's worth the quick sushi craving hit.
Pablo was the sushi chef that helped me today, he's friendly and did a great job with the special request I had for the albacore (ceviche style) roll I asked him to make. It was my favorite for sure. Their habanero sauce is deliciously spicy and comparable to sushimis, they share the same recipe I assume since sushimis took over the original location.
Overall it's a great AyCE sushi spot and I enjoyed my visit. It was just myself, quiet and a little empty on a Sunday night. But they're ready to feed you if you're ready to eat.
Will be back if I'm visiting in the area again
Total with tax was $37.30. Ayce and 1 hot tea!

Nice little place to get sushi. Nothing fancy as far as atmosphere goes, just plain white walls, a sushi bar like normal, and tables on concrete floors.

I have always enjoyed hiroba but it has unfortunately lost its service. I took my two kids and I (1 year old and 3 year old) on 9-30-22. We had roughly 2 rolls left over between us all and the server still proceeded to charge me ontop of the all you can eat price FOR "UNEATEN LEFTOVERS". I mean she's three there may be some left overs and the other roll was not very good so we didn't eat it. This put my bill to 80 dollars for two toddlers and myself just sad 😔 I will not be returning here as there is better options that don't count the pieces of sushi you have left over with no consideration.

I can't believe this place only has 4.4 stars. Its at least 4.7 in my book. It's a real hidden gem within myriad of ayce sushi joints in Reno/Sparks area. All their seafood ingredients (Neta) are well prepped and preserved. You can tell by quality of the display fridge they have at the bar. The owner cares about the quaity of seafood. With other places, I find netas such as Hamachi and Maguro poorly prepped, often served unpleasantly cold and wet. Most sushi places I went to, tako (octopus) was often served super chewy and Ika often had fishy after taste... You won't find that at Hiroba. If you're into delicacy of Nigiri with quality neta, this place is for you. If you're into sushi rolls, I'd say you can go anywhere for those.

The food was really bad. We got a bunch of rolls and the cooked ones were burnt. There was too much spice and seasonings on the sushi. We ordered egg shooters and they never arrived. It was disappointing and below average especially for the price. I think sushi from a gas station would be more appealing.

Great food

Liked the sushi, unfortunately we ate it too fast and forgot to take pictures, the rice was a bit too dry though, but the staff was great, super fast service too, and you get so much food for very very reasonable prices. Highly recommend it for a quick bite.

This place has great sushi! It is close to home and has pleasant servers.

Service is quick and excellent!!! The sushi chefs are quick. The mussels with ponzu are hit and miss. One order comes up succulent and tasty (I like mine, not overcooked, with light Sriracha, no white sauce, extra ponzu), and the next, you're choking on a dry product. The servers there do pay attention to what you like though. The upside down shrimp occasionally gets overwhelmed with crab and too little teriyaki sauce so specify on the order paper. I'm going to be back so, keep the mussels, no limit, not overcooked please!!!

Great sushi with fast service

Having been coming here pretty regularly for a matter of months, I think I can finally safely say… best sushi in Reno. And yes, I’m from here and have tried most (if not all?) the other joints in town.
The sushi quality is consistently awesome. On top of the fact that the service is so fast and friendly… yeah 5 star service for sure. Typically you’re munching on and appetizer or two within like 5 minutes of sitting down, and your other food is not far behind. Chefs are really friendly also! And they certainly know their craft!
For me personally, at a sushi establishment, the make it or break it detail is the quail egg shooters. They are my favorite part of sushi if they are good, and the most disappointing part if they aren’t. Some sushi joints have a lot of trouble with being consistent with them too. And at Hiroba, they are c o n s i s t e n t l y phenomenal! (I crave them at random, it’s a problem.)
Anyway, yeah, if ever I go somewhere else for sushi, I end up regretting not coming here. Thank you Hiroba! You guys are killlllling it! :D

This place is our new favorite place place!
Best of everything! Top notch!

There's a huge difference (in a disappointing way) between the menu photo v.s. the actual food. For example, I ordered the Jumping Lobster because it looks so packed with lobsters in the menu. When the actual food came out, it didnt look anything like the menu. It tasted mediocre as well.

Best sushi.

Ate here the other day and I felt like I was in a cafeteria. Everything tasted fine but it seemed to be all pre made and thrown in a microwave. The reason I say this is because we ordered and our food was at our table in like 5 min. Didn’t really have that fresh taste to me. I would recommend this place if your looking for a quick bite to eat and move on.

Fastest sushi service Ive ever...EVER had. They were on top of everything from the go. Quality was on par with price.

In my humble opinion, they're the best sushi you'll find in Sparks.

Great little Sushi place. Nothing fancy in the dining area. Does have table seating and sushi bar seating. All You Can Eat has a huge variety for a very fair price (I went for lunch versus dinner). Does get busy quickly as this area is near many other eateries and is popular on Google searches for Sushi in Sparks. I will be back!!

The sushi is pretty standard Reno fare. They have the same stuff everyone else does. The place is clean and you can always get in. The worst part of it is the parking which can be really tight and sometimes hard to find particularly if Pegs at the end of the building is open. It is not bad sushi but there is nothing special here either.

Great chefs and the quality of the fish is superb. I love their quail egg shooters and the nigiri is not over burden with rice. The other Great attribute of Hiroba is the ambience is not taxing on the ear drums.

I went with 2 family members for All You Can Eat sushi. The menu is very well laid out and the ordering process is quite simple. Service is extremely fast and professional. The food was just amazing. I sampled 8 or so rolls, many of the appetizers and dessert. EVERYTHING seems very fresh. Lunch is only $21.95 and is an amazing deal for what you get. Can't wait to go back!

Not the same Hiroba Sushi from Sky in Reno. Not good at all.
Visited 4 years ago
The old Skyline location was my favorite sushi in Reno. The food at the new location doesn’t even compare. My wife and I have tried twice over the past year and both times we were amazed at how underwhelmed we were. I would describe the rolls as flavorless and boring. Reading other reviews it seems like other people like it. I guess it’s just not for me.

Best sushi in Reno hand down. Muscles are to die for and they are so fast you receive your order before you even had time to think about what you ordered. We live in Truckee and we go there every week we travel 30 minutes just to go there That's how good it is, the price is so affordable and the quality is outstanding definitely get the yakuton they have great fish quality, I've been a sushi chef in Hawaii so I know what good quality is, so take my word for it and go there.

Always good and fresh here! Hands down my favorite place in the.
Visited 4 years ago
Fairly flavorless rolls and the atmosphere is sorely lacking. Soups were good, however, and the prices were comparable with the rest of the city, meaning over priced. I would have given it "2 stars" except the service was EXCELLENT.

The whole experience with this place is very strange when I had it delivered their food was put together very sloppy and they made it look like a school lunch in a plastic bag for $70 I expected better

Everything here is fantastic. The servers are fast, helpful, and enthusiastic. Everything that came to the table was great and arrived quickly. The restaurant itself seemed like a well oiled machine all the way around. Quality of rice and fish was above average. They take your temp at the door, closed bar, and distanced seating.
