This poor rating for Sushi Koma is really a poor rating to all of you Yelpers out there.

To be fair, maybe it should just be for the 20 or so people dining at Sushi Koma this afternoon, when my friend and I were there.

Never mind the fact that I bragged about Sushi Koma to my friend, and won the battle of whose sushi place we would visit today. Never mind the fact that I ate at Sushi Koma last week and it was good. And never mind the fact that every other AYCE place in town is going down hill too.

AYCE sushi in Vegas is going down the toilet.

Let me explain:

The rice was crap. That's all, enough said.

Two things I am most disappointed about: the fact that no one else had a problem with the rice, and they tried to charge me for two AYCE, even though we stopped after the first order came out. In the end, they finally comp'd one of the two meals, but if you added up the a la cart price for the sushi we did received (crap though it was), it would still not have come to one AYCE price.

So, basically we got ripped off twice.

Today's visit was a 0 star, but I know Sushi Koma can do better (or at least they used to), so I am being generous with 2 stars.

But to all my fellow Yelpers: come on people, we deserve better than this. Stand up and start demanding better sushi, including the rice.

And to all the AYCE sushi joints out there - STOP PRE-CUTTING YOUR FISH! It increases the surface area that is exposed to oxidization and accelerates the deterioration - in other words, it makes it nasty.

It’s the worst taste sushi place I have been all my life. The quality of fish feels too soggy much in the water and not fresh at all plus you can even feel that water in rice. Waitress is not friendly at all. Strongly recommend don’t even consider coming this place. It’s waste of money and time.

This is some of the best sushi we've had recently in Vegas. The fish is cold and fresh, the service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere is cute and cozy. Overall our favorite spot recently. Even my husband who normally only orders fried things, is a opening up to more fish based rolls because it's so fresh and delicious.

Just had dinner here a few hours ago and have a terrible stomach ache. Rice was hard and stale. I was very hungry having come from the gym, but probably should’ve known better and just left after the first bite. There is some charm to the management and ownership, but the food itself is mediocre at best. I wouldn’t say I have food poisoning or anything like that but just not having a good time. Not my first time eating here, but will be my last. Previous experiences were acceptable, but this is not good. Vegas has some great sushi spots. I don’t think this is one of them.
Also, the seats are too hard and uncomfortable.

This is the third time I have visited this place in two months, and it’s by far the worst experience of the three. The oysters, both raw and deep-fried, were not fresh. The sushi rice tasted very sour for some reason. It’s too bad because this is my go-to place for AYCE sushi in the neighborhood, but unfortunately, I need to start looking for another place next time.

I went to eat by myself but a couple and I entered at the same time, when the server found out I was by myself asked me "how can I help you?" Well, obviously, I wanted a table, but the way she asked was rude. Her attitude towards me was completely different than she gave to the couple. She was not very nice, it was a "cold" customer service. I had a roll that has lemon in it, but the lemon tasted bitter. It could've been great, but it wasn't. I've tried lemon in rolls, and they taste awesome. This wasn't the case. Overall, it wasn't the best experience

i’ve been going here for years and have had positive experiences up until today (Sept. 29, 2024). i no longer live in vegas so especially the last few times ive gone have always been something i’ve looked forward to. today my boyfriend took me on a nice date there- a tradition we’ve had for over 4 years and it’s for sure the last time we’ll return. the waitress Zhang, or “Jane” & the sushi chef on shift purposely sabotaged my boyfriend’s food all because he asked for a substitution due to dietary purposes & she didn’t like it. mind you, we’ve been coming here for YEARS & this substitution has never been an issue before she began working there. my boyfriend used to work there himself so he understands how it goes, i myself have worked in service & to sabotage someone’s food is beyond low & really puts a bad name on a place that i used to have very sentimental memories at. i do want to thank the young man who was working for talking to us so respectfully after we had dealt with such disrespect. i hope there are consequences for this because if we would’ve eaten what they made it probably would’ve made us both very sick.

I am writing this review as a former employee and long time customer of Sushi Koma , before they even moved to the new location . On September 29th , 2024 I had my food purposefully sabotaged because of asking for a substitute because of dietary purposes . I have never in my life dealt with this type of situation before and am deeply saddened that I have to write this review . The waitress known as Zhang or “Jane” went out of her way and made sure that today was the last day of ever go to Sushi Koma . It is spiteful woman like her that put a nasty name on such a great establishment . I paid for the food and left a tip for the nice younger guy since I HAVE WORKED AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT PREVIOUSLY AND KNOW HOW IT GOES !!!

Always excited to try AYCE sushi- I do go for quantity, but the quality was there for most of the items- the Nigiri is cute and tiny, and the rolls were fresh and good. A few were forgotten about but no big deal lol
Unfortunately though, I had to remove stars because of the terrible food poisoning me, my partner, and daughter suffered from eating the uni here- only my kid who didn't eat it was ok. It tasted awful but I'm really not the biggest fan of uni so I didn't a bat an eye at not liking it- but the poisoning lasted for literal days. Whew. Maybe a special summer occurrence 🤔
other than that! very nice staff ect. do NOT eat the sea urchin!!!!!

The menu is not as extensive as other restaurants that we've been to, but if you're in the area, it's a decent AYCE sushi venue (the other being Hikari that is right around the corner). After placing our initial order, the waitress brought some "on the house" appetizer specials to our table which was an unexpected, but pleasant surprise. The staff were very attentive & quick to refill our waters and checked in on us frequently. Food was delicious :)

I’ve been going to Sushi Koma since they opened (when they were located across the parking lot), and there’s a reason I keep going back.

They have a great menu with a decent amount of options, but it’s not overwhelmingly complex; instead they focus on bringing you quality over quantity.

I highly recommend the sashimi roll, the carpaccio, and the ponzio roll!

This is a top shelf restaurant in a strip mall!! The setup was very very well spaced as to not feel crowded like other AYCE. Service was impeccable from every person. The food was excellent and fresh, no old stuff served. We ate nearly each item off the nigiri list. We all noted that the sushi rice was tasty and tiny, unlike other AYCE places where you get filled with rice!!
Definitely on a very short list of places needing a return visit. Almost forgot the mochi ice cream dessert which was a perfect way to end our evening meal!

Holy cow!!! We found Sushi Koma by "mistake." We were on our way to another sushi restaurant. However, the line was too long, so we decided to leave as we were hungry. We saw Sushi Koma's sign and decided to try it. Whoa! The service was excellent, the rolls were delicious and fresh, AND we were greeted with a complimentary appetizer (grilled chili peppers, baby octopus, and salmon)!
We went there again after our initial visit and will make this a frequent outing. Thank you, Sushi Koma!!

1. Out of calamari
2. Was not allowed to order more scallop (the infamous Korean lady said there was only 2 more left, which was a lie)
3. The Ikura was old and salty (fresh ikura is sweet and firm)
4. Vegetable tempura did not come with sweet potatoes or carrots
5. Halibut had garlic paste on it. Overpowering and masking the taste of the fish. (The excessive sauce was a common theme on their Nigri)
6. My 3 year old was charged $3.50 for dessert and was not told about this in advance.
7. Poor service because there was one server for 10 tables

The only thing that was good was the scallop. Big cuts and sweet but the lady refused to give us more and blatantly lied about the reason.

Do yourself a favor and go to Goyemon on Decatur and Tropicana. They are superior in all aspects (including price).

Servers seemed overwhelmed due to the amount of tables they were taking care of. Had to end up leaving because we never got our last order. Other than that food was good but these things just ruin the AYCE experience when you have to wait 30 mins for your order to get to you, there are better options in LV for what you get here.

Went here for dinner last night. It’s right around the corner from my house so I figured I’d try it. The AYCE is standard sushi portions so you won’t be able to get much variety. They also serve you a bunch of free stuff. I’d assume to get you not to finish your food. The sushi was ok nothing out of this world. There are so many other sushi places in the area for much cheaper/ way better quality.

The service is what I’m writing this review for. I went with my friend and she ordered an entre instead of AYCE. So the waitress basically paced past our table the WHOLE meal. We had zero privacy and it was ridiculous. Once we were leaving we didn’t even have a chance to get out of the booth and the waitress was already grabbing our check. I would have probably tried the food again but the service has ruined this place for me.

Me and my girl went to this sushi place after hitting a leg day. And it was a BOMB!! Not gonna lie, straight forward, if you are sushi guy, you already could see the quality of the nigiri, by seeing how glitter it looks. Not only Nigiri, but also look how all the rolls be seeing. It was just a fishigasm for us. Also, the worker was really friendly. While we were sitting about an hour, I saw the workers not loosing smile all the time. They always trying to check if our food is okay, if we need anything else, so we don’t have to look up where the servers gone when we needed something. They were hella welcoming, and they said thank you when we leaving, also sushi men too. The best place to recover body from leg day.

Compared to our regular spots like Sushi Neko (which is closed and under construction) and Umami, this place was just ok to fit a quick sushi itch but not worth going back. We ordered AYCE and arrived early enough before it started getting crowded but the food took a very long time to arrive. The waitress recommended a couple appetizers which we agreed to but then we kept getting a lot of other food items that weren’t requested. We felt very rushed when ordering our next round and the portions were super tiny, they’re stingy on the soy sauce, and their “spicy” rolls are not spicy at all. Very underwhelming experience despite the positive reviews.

The service was way better than last time. The food was amazing and you have a very broad choice for the all you can eat. We could order fish roe and scallops for only 35$ with taxes (all you can eat / eat till you coma).

I highly recommend this place and it might be one of the best (if not the best) sushi place with all you can eat on Las Vegas.

The service was also very fast effective and they are really comprehensive for those who don't speak English very well.

She even let me ordered more food after the time limit (we ate for like 2 hours which was way enough time)

They brought raw oysters that were very tasty with their little sauce, and many other different appetizers before starting the "all you can eat".

Every roll came very quickly and I will say it again but the quality for the price you pay is very worth it. The waitresses are very sweet and welcoming. It is not crowded either it's pretty chill

The food was alright, I mean for A.Y.C.E, a family of 3 ate for 100 bucks. It seems like their selection diminished or their prices went up slightly. The service, well a little confusing. The hostess could not keep people straight, thinking the last person in the building was first while the first person (group) waited to be seated. Our server is at the table even before we're seated and asked what would we like to order. I just sat down and said, " you haven't given me a minute to look at the menu." It's like you're rushing us and your time limit is 80 minutes. The place was dead for a Friday night so I don't see what the rush was. Or maybe I'm just overreacting because I had a bad day. Overall, we will be back, the quality was great, the Arizona and LS (lemon/salsom) rolls were a hit. Thank you Sushi Koma!

Just might be my new fave sushi place. Upon being seated, there was a nasty sizeable spot on the floor at our table. The guy that sat us immediately cleaned that, that's huge for me, its so unsightly to see filth when eating. The servers were very attentive. We were given plenty of daily specials, which we didn't order, but was brought to our table for us to try, never had that happen to me at a sushi restaurant, it was all really good. I've heard of this place for a few years and finally decided to go. Really glad we did, will definitely be going back.

Always tip according to quality of service and she definitely did not deserve one today so we did not tip. When leaving she proceeded to run after us and ask why we didn't tip. And so we politely told her that it was because of how we were treated. She said "Oh, well I will treat you good next time". There will not be a next time in the foreseeable future. I've been a loyal patron of this sushi restaurant for many years because it holds a special place in my heart. I used to enthusiastically recommend it to everyone, but lately, I've grown increasingly disheartened by the declining quality of their service. The staff has become forgetful, sometimes unfriendly or even outright rude. The breaking point for me was when my daughter and her girlfriend had a terrible experience there, feeling they were treated poorly, which seemed like homophobia. It's truly disheartening because this used to be the go-to sushi spot for me, my friends, and family. Sadly, we've all witnessed this decline in service, and I can no longer recommend this place. I encourage everyone to explore other dining options instead.

Once our initial food order was taken, and then things slowed down drastically. We had to stay on top of the servers just to check up on our orders. The were 3 for the entire restaurant, and a multitude of bussers that were quick to clear the table of empty trays or glasses. Again, trying to remind the servers that our table still had food ordered that not been delivered. Overall, the food was great, but the table service could use improvement. I would still go back to try again hoping maybe it was simply an off night for the wait staff.

After work my husband and I came for dinner, we were very hungry and chose the all you can eat function. It was our second time in this place, and the first time was fine, delicious food and polite waitresses. But this time we were shocked by the attitude, the waitress, who took our order, was boorish, freaked out that she didn't understand what we wanted, apparently for this you need to know more than two words in English, as she knew. With each of our orders she asked if we would eat it, if we were sure and that if we didn't eat it we would have to pay separately, then she went to the owner, said something and pointed at us and so every time. We were very unpleasant in such an environment and with such an attitude. I hope the tips that we left are shared among the team, the cooks and the owner thank you but we are unlikely to come to this sushi bar again. We wanted to relax and have a quiet meal but we had to leave this place as we were tired of the inadequate behaviour of the waitress and close observation of us.

The chicken teriyaki took over an hour but by that time we had to go back to the office. I opened my to go orders and it was a measly two fried wings and cold white rice. One of my wings were still raw and uncooked.
I will not be going back.

Seated upon arrival and was asked for our order.. Without a menu nor drink order taken. Was given 1 menu for the table and still with no drinks, and one pass around the dining room, we were asked again what we wanted to order. Since we had 1 menu, and no phones (which we don't take when we dine) we were unable to scan for a digital menu.. Which is why we asked for the menus. Server took the order of one but said to come back after I had a chance to look at the menu side the other was done ordering. I finally got my order taken after all the other items were eaten by the other person. By time my items came out, sushi rice was under cooked and chewy, fried foods were raw and soggy. Tbh, we got gipped on the bill. I could have paid a la carte for my items that were edible and it would have been cheaper than what I paid for ayce. This is not my first time coming here, but this was by far.. The worst service ever. We won't be coming back and made it a point to tell others that we've gone there in the past with to find a new spot. Stay away!

Please AVOID this AYCE sushi place. The owner should re-examine the Korean serving old lady with a mask. She was extremely rude and unprofessional from-start-to-finish. Been to hundreds of sushi restaurant and the grumpy old lady is by far the worst waitress with extremely nasty attitude and snobbishness. I'm not kidding. 이곳은 정말 아닙니다. 서빙하시는 그 아줌마는 그딴식으로 일하려면 당장 짤라야겠죠. 돈내고 먹는 식당들중에 인생 최악이였습니다. Through her nasty tone of voice and body languages, all she was thinking was her mini-breaks. Also, sushi was terrible and way below average. Two different makers and the younger one makes nastier sushi. Totally wasted and not worth visiting here for $25 AYCE. Maybe the worst sushi place in West Coast of USA. "Nasty" is the most proper word for this sushi restaurant. All grumpy employees and no active owner monitoring the whole situation.

By far the WORSE place to go for AYCE in Las Vegas. The food was horrible, the service was the worst I’ve received in my 3 years of living in this city, and the atmosphere was dim and dull. I had the displeasure of having a server, Taki, who not only made my experience horrible, she made me want to get onto Google and shout from the rooftops not to EVER come eat here. We came in for AYCE at 8:15pm, 3 adults and a baby. We pick AYCE and begin our orders. We literally received cold miso soup, burned Japanese lasagna, and that’s just the food we actually received. She got 1/4 of the orders, and seemed like it was day one. Anyway, we pushed through it and finally around 9pm i say to her, you know i only ordered a couple rolls and you have yet to bring them. She responded with oh let me go put it in now and starts to walk away. I said excuse me, i don’t want it at this point, I’d actually like to … and as I’m talking she decided, she’s had enough and walks away. Her coworker saw what happened and comes up and says is everything ok? At this point, I’m shocked so I’m not going to speak to anyone but the manager. He comes out, and i explained what happened and how she walked away. He goes to the back and comes back with the bill, and says i comped you an AYCE. Idk if it’s just me, especially because i never ask for a break on the bill, but when you just saw a table not get all but 3 rolls and soup, yet they ordered over 10 different rolls, that’s when you need to step in and handle it better. But back to what I’ve been saying … service in Las Vegas might as well not be called service anymore. Anyway, don’t eat here if you want a good meal and good service

The food was really good! Service was a little odd, as it seemed as though our waiter had had a bad day before we were there and was acting strange when we were ordering.
Anyway, the food came out quickly and it was all really yummy. I would recommend this place certainly for the food.

I've gotten a few poke bowls from here... so I've come to know what to expect.. however, today I bought one and it was all Slivers and specks of fish and mostly seaweed. Idk what happened. Usually it's cubed and a balanced bowl between the two ingredients, but this isn't normal..

The toxic and power hungry front of house staff is driving away customers and losing the ownership potential revenue.

I tried to use the restroom before sitting down to eat, meaning I walked passed the hostest stand and when I was asked if I wanted a table, I kindly said that I wasn't sure exactly where I wanted to sit because I had to use the restroom first. Rather than using the most basic level of customer service by allowing me to use the restroom before I sat down to eat, I was (for whatever reason) targeted as a freeloader or someone of that nature who was simply trying to use the bathroom with no intention of being a paying customer. Now, I could understand If I came into the restaurant dressed in rags with no shoes (not trying to shame the homeless here), but I wasn't. I was dressed well, own a business, smell good (I think), and had a smile on my face (laughing as im writing this because ive never had to stand up for my appearance attire, or professional background in a review of a restaurant, lol). In fact, a few years back I lived close by to this location and use to eat here religiously, so all in all I'd probably dined here over a dozen times on the conservative side.

But when the hostess said that the restroom is only for paying customers and demanded I ”just use the restroom next door", it triggered me for the many aforementioned and frankly comical reasons. In less than the 30 seconds that it would have taken me to use the restroom and wash my hands prior to sitting down to eat, the hostess deemed me as a non customer.

From an objective standpoint, it occurred to me that this individual wanted to be a "gate keeper" and impose power with complete disregard of the implications to her employer. Additionally, when I spoke to one of the neighboring shop owners in the center, they said they had the EXACT same experience with their family, after they had already eaten at the restaurant 3 times that same week!

If I had seen any of my employees treat a customer like this, I would have terminated them immediately, no questions asked. This employee is not only losing business revenue from an immediate lost sale, but also driving down future revenue from creating non returning customers.

Short version: been here a dozen times, had to pee before eating dinner, got denied to use the restroom before sitting down due to the hostess having an unprofessional and entitled attitude that ultimately lost the business money.

Food was fresh, tasty, and clean. The only unappreciated detail was the fact that the portions are small, certain dishes can only be ordered once, and the food seems a bit Americanized and inauthentic. The staff are very kind, helpful, genuine, and attentive. The only only only complaint is the food lol. Honestly.

Been coming to this restaurant with the family since they first opened. We've seen ups and downs from food on the menu being unavailable to not so great customer service on some days. We have filled up so many stamp cards as proof. We've always given this place a second chance no matter what because this place has been a go-to place for us over the years. With that said, tonight's dining experience isn't the best. Service is rather on the very slow side, food orders were missed, appetizers came in after the entrée and deserts listed were unavailable. It's actually been unavailable the last 3 visits that we have been. Either update the desert menu or remove it so patrons won't have to look forward to it. I really hope they can get back on track and start taking pride of their work again. My best wishes to this restaurant.

The fish was fresh and the place was very busy for a Tuesday evening. The decore was nice. Great local sushi spot. I liked how they don't use artificial crab in everything. A few places around town over use that and it greatly limits the selection of rolls without it.

If anyone would have ever asked me in the past, I would say that I don’t eat sushi or that I don’t like it. My friend invited me to Sushi Koma and I agreed to at least try it…oh my gosh! I loved it and now we come to this location all of the time. And now I eat sushi (but only here)! I stick to the newbie friendly sushi items: shrimp tempura roll, deep fried California roll, Big B roll are all approved.

“A” grade quality fish, wide variety of menu items and they are always willing to accommodate you with off the menu special requests! Warm clean atmosphere and the service is impeccable!

Aileen (our server) was so kind and considerate of everybody’s needs, as well as very attentive, really delicate and warm-welcoming!
She provided us with great suggestions and alternatives-made our night very pleasant!

They are also open late, not like most other spots.

Highly recommend Sushi Koma!

Thank you guys and see you very soon again.
