A New Las Vegas Tradition – award-winning creative seafood restaurant, raw bar, and cocktail lounge located on South Durango near Spring Mountain.
In A Nutshell:
-Other Mama had been on my radar for a hot minute.
-It's located away from the Strip off of Durango in a strip mall.
-It's a funky Hawaiian style Japanese restaurant, that looks nonchalant.
-Once you open the front door & enter you will be surprised of the cool interior.
-If you like oysters, you'll find a lot of choices including some combos like Uni+Oyster+Ikura & Kimchi BBQ Oysters.
-Their sushi is very fresh & I also enjoyed their Jidori Fried Chicken Wings & their big hand rolls.
Overall, this is a good date night spot or a place to take some friends or family for a nice meal.

Food was ok, nothing special. Didn't really enjoy it. Couldn't understand why it was rated so high, its also in far away strip mall. Service was slow and strange...
Sushi was good, crab cakes were ok. The cod missed the mark.
Chicken wings were not good. Very greasy.

We enjoyed our meal here. It's not everyday that you get high end service and well thought out dishes in a strip mall joint.
Unfortunately, the prices reflect that.. it isn't a cheap option, but the prices are fair in my opinion. I think it's just the dichotomy of an upscale eatery in a strip mall setting that makes it feel worse. But you'd never know by the presentation that this isn't up in Tivoli Village or one of those hoity-toity places. Hell, move it up there and the prices are probably double what they are here.
Anyways, some of the reviews knock the food, and perhaps there is some variation in the cooking of items, but we enjoyed the four separate dishes we had, and were even eyeballing some of the other items that we saw heading to other tables.
I think you'll impress yourself and friends coming here, or it makes a great surprise date night spot like it did for us.

This place just keeps getting better over the years!
We hadn’t been in a while and then my mom selected it for here birthday dinner a couple of weeks ago. We ordered SO much food — mocktails (I had 4 JoJos 😅), cocktails, oysters, shishito peppers, crab fried rice, chicken teriyaki, salmon, sushi, miso cod, crispy tuna rice, key lime pie (few places do key lime filling truly well and they nailed the smooth texture and the balance of sweet while still maintaining the tanginess of the lime 🍋🟩).
It was ALL 10/10 delicious. My family eats quality food but doesn’t eat large quantities of food but at Other Mama we couldn’t stop our selves from eating every last bite 🍴.
AND 🌟 The service was stellar. It was a super busy night and our waiter still managed to be attentive and take great care of us the whole evening.
All to say, if you haven’t been yet — go!

Its a small establishment so reservations are a must. We usually will dine here if we wanna take a break from the strip. All the rolls and entrees i have had are great. The only thing we did not care for is their soba salad noodles. It did not align with my taste buds. The cocktails are excellent and the price well worth it for $12 a cocktail. If ever in this area I would definitely check this place out.

Hidden gem in a shopping center. Nice decor and atmosphere. The dish presentations were beautiful and they were very flavorful. I have no bad remarks to say about the dish choices we had. Everything was really spot on. I will return to try more dishes!

I've been here a couple of times. Both times thr service was great. However, the food is where I found a disappointment.
Food:
Fried Calamri
Miso Black Cod
Spicy Tuna Tartare
Crispy Pork Belly
Miso Ribs
Kimchee Fried Rice
Crispy Brussel Sprouts
On my first visit, the calamari was overcooked, and the Miso Ribs were meh. I enjoyed the Tuna Tartare, and my BF loved the miso cod that was probably it. The Tartare was amazing and flavorful that day.
On our 2nd visit, I was not a fan of the pork belly but enjoyed both the Brussels and Fried Rice. Unfortunately, the Spicy Tuna was not tasting like my first visit. It lacked some kind of flavor, and inconsistency is all I have to say.
Overall, I'd return again and try different dishes.

I went to eat with my boyfriend, and we had a bad experience due to one of the cooks who forgot to put the aioli in the hamachi, in a good way we asked the waitress and she apologized and said I would fix it, the kitchen is open and we were the only ones in the room so we could see the guys on the line working, the waitress approached one of them and he gave us a look awful! and we noticed that they argued, and the worst thing was that he grabbed the aioli and spread it all over the place in a very rude manner and looking at us badly! We thought it was the last straw, so we decided not to eat that dish. When the waitress returned, we told her that we saw everything! to which she replied: oh he's new and a little grumpy! What a shame that a bad employee ruins a dinner and the entire restaurant

I have been going to this gem-in-the-wall for many years. The food here is exceptional! I was at Joel Robuchon a few weeks ago, and had their black cod as part of a 9-course meal, and last night I just had the Miso Black Cod at Other Mama. I'd say though both are delicious, I'd choose the latter in a heart beat. Well done guys! Thank you for so many years of wonderful memories!
I also recommend the Seafood Tostada. Also, the Shishito Peppers with shaved bonito flakes. They are to die for (literally because I seem to always be the one to end up eating the one and only hot one!)

Not sure what the vibe is supposed to be. On one side they have a bar with sports playing on the TV and patrons occasionally cheering. There is also a cheap happy hour menu with <$8 appetizers and beers. On the other hand, it seems to be a fine dining restaurant with $20-40 appetizers and unique dishes. Made for a confusing atmosphere.
The food was some hits and some misses. The Seared Hokkaido Scallop and Soft Shell Crab App specials were unimpressive. The scallops were slightly overcooked and tough. The crab was a little tasteless.
The Akari cocktail was very nice. Refreshing and a good mixture of flavors.
Amberjack Crudo was very good and interesting!

Great place! I really recommend the whitefish or ocean trout carpaccio. As Caleb (manager) recommends, save the dish and dip everything into it!
Really good quality to their fish. The oysters are very clean. Great happy hour specials for the basics when it comes to nigiri and appetizers.
We did have a spread of different dishes. All of them were fantastic. We'll be back for sure!

This WAS my favorite restaurant in all of Las Vegas. They expanded the restaurant and changed the menu. The service is great as always, but the food is mediocre now. Some of the best dishes they took off the menu and with the exception of the Brussels sprouts all the additions are worst than mediocre. So if you plan to go here based on past reviews, the restaurant that everyone is raving about is no longer the same restaurant. It breaks my heart because I am a foodie and this was the best in LV for innovation, quality and value for money. Now it’s just another average restaurant and though the prices haven’t changed. Great staff, quality ingredients but whoever is cooking doesn’t understand taste, texture, harmony. So bummed to have to find another favorite.

So disappointing !!! This used to be one of the best Japanese restaurants in Las Vegas. Not anymore. They changed their menu for the worst, and I mean the absolute worst. I have never seen a restaurant that was so good become so bad. It was shocking. They left many of their best dishes off the new menu, and the ones that remained, they are preparing them differently. They changed the recipe, so they no longer taste good at all.

We went there last week on Saturday after didn't go there for almost one year ...I have to say we always liked it before but this time was the last time at other mama...the food quality changed completely the teriyaki chicken was dry and no flavor they make the portion look bigger and put salad on the plate we tried several sushi plates all are blend and no good taste I get better quality somewhere else for half the price...the waffelfries where underfried and raw the tuna tartar was ok nothing else...I ordered a aperol spritz you didn't even feel any aperol or taste full with ice and soda I told this the waitress her comment this is how we do it ...I didn't take it ..it's sad used to be a good restaurant but I guess they changed the chef for us we will never go back.

Completely understand the hype! When you drive into a strip mall in Vegas for a nice restaurant it better be good and you are immediately met by luxury car after luxury car which Im sure means good things. The vibe is super chill and the side room with the bar would also be chill. We sat in main dining room. Server was attentive but not overbearing. Food was excellent and pricing actually wasn’t awful for the quality.

Quality of food is very good, but the interpretations are a bit too modern for my taste. The crispy rice with spicy tuna is to die for. Good sake selection. If you are in to Japanese with twist, this place is a real highlight.

They do sushi. I wouldn’t say it’s especially amazing to go out of your way from the Vegas Strip for this, but it wasn’t bad either.
Service was adequate, but nothing extraordinary.
The environment looks a bit like a hole in the wall and cozy and has a certain old school vibe to it. Nothing wrong with it. Just don’t expect crazy quality materials.
Visited 10 months ago
Great customer service, so no issues there. The food was just ok. The crab cake was a bit mushy and fell apart very easily. The miso cod was undercooked in the center and the skin was hard to tear apart-it could have been cooked a little more. Salmon carpaccio wasn’t bad, just a little too sweet. It tasted like too much sugar was added to the sauce

Now, Alan, the owner extended the restaurant and created a bar next door with a very nice atmosphere. Yvonne is very efficient and on the ball as is Elizabeth whom we do not know too well. Paul, who at times tends bar in the “addition” is very hard working.
Alan takes pride in his business and it shows!!!

Located at the strip mall on Durango and Twain Rd.
Had some friends who were visiting Las Vegas. Was only able to make Reservations for 9pm…they close at 10pm so had to order and eat kinda quickly.
Ok this what we all ordered:
1.) Agedashi Tofu: my friend said it was mushy and not crispy because they poor the sauce over entire bowl! Note: if you prefer crispy tofu ask them to serve with sauce on the side.
2.) Avocado+Cucumber+Asparagus Sushi Roll. My friend said it vegetables were fresh and tasty.
3.) Tuna Avocado Cut Roll. My friend said it was tasty.
4.) Sashimi Combination (Chef Selection). The Sashimi was very fresh but we did not like 2 of the chefs choices.
5.) Unagi Sashimi. The pieces were very small and I requested extra crispy it was Not.
6.) Japanese Fried Chicken. This was very tasty and to dipping sauce was great. Chicken pieces were a bit small.
7.) I ordered Yellowtail Jalapeño, but we got Hamachi Collar instead server screwed up. It was moist but not what we wanted and it was too late to get the order fixed!
8.) Shrimp Tempura. This was fried perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The dipping sauce was very good.
9.) Key-lime Pie. Just the right tartness and loved the Graham Cracker Crust.
10.) Nutella Ice Cream. My friend like it.
11.) Miso Honey Ice Cream this was tasty, reminds me of something Salt & Straw would serve.
My suggestion is to eat there early like before 9pm and make sure the server hears exactly what you order!

Excellent food (with a killer specials menu!), lovely service, and nice ambiance! I don't live in Vegas but will definitely be back the next time I visit!
The miso black cod is out of this world! Also loved our oysters (three types in the half dozen for two), all the nigiri we tried (did a second helping of the red snapper), both bottles of sake (one junmai ginjo and one junmai; good selection), and super appreciated the multiple dairy-free dessert options!

In strip mall, wouldn’t necessarily notice driving by but have probably read about it in a food blog. The fish is definitely good quality. The oysters, might be season, wasn’t a huge fan for price. Darker inside nice, doesn’t fit the food. Specials everyday also for fish. Overall, a nice place, would recommend. Also, dresser key lime pie is awesome.

I used to love this place until the jidori chicken teriyaki they prepared was raw in the middle (not undercooked- raw) and I didn’t notice until I had eaten a couple outer pieces. Probably not a coincidence that I developed a serious case of food poisoning 12 hours later. Unfortunately it looks like there have been recent staffing changes and it has gone downhill.

Try the Svetlana for sure, but it is pretty horseradishy. I really enjoy the ceviche with sweet potato chips as an appetizer. The fried tofu is the best I've ever had - the sauce is divine. Great experience at this restaurant from the bartender, David, who makes great drinks, and is very friendly plus attentive. I have been here twice now and both times the servers and bartenders were on top of everything. The food here is great from what I have had so far. The first time I came I had one oyster because I never had them before and I wanted to try. I liked it but I wanted to save room for more stuff like it there kimchi fried rice, and there are vegetarian dumplings. Both were delicious. The second time I came I had the deviled eggs with fried oyster, which were outstanding. I had a trio of oysters, and they were all very good as well. Definitely recommend trying some other options there and getting their specialty cocktails.

Here's #1...this place is super pricey. But that's not the problem. I gave 2 stars because we chose this place because of the other reviews and pictures. However our experience wasn't pleasant. The oysters are the only thing we liked. The octopus was a complete disappointment! I didn't even take a picture...SMH. It didn't look ANYTHING like the pictures and was room temperature. Nora's has great octopus. We tried the Japanese Crispy Fried chicken...not much flavor and definitely not CRISPY! We only had three menu items and finished fairly quickly...a family of 5 who arrived about 20 minutes after us, were fed, paid and out the door before the two of us. I'm just gonna leave that right there. We drove over 35 minutes and waited 2 weeks to try this place and the let down is truly disappointing. We are Vegas locals. We will not return. I'm perplexed by all the good reviews!

Not sure if we were on an off night but our experience was overall disappointing. The food was okay but found a general over and unnecessary use of soy sauce. We ordered the seared albacore tataki which swam in so much soy sauce that each slice of fish was brown-soaked salt bomb. The miso-ribs were tender and well-cooked, but again was smothered in so much soy-sauce that any delicateness from the miso was over-powered. By far the worst soy-sauce offender was the oyster sake bomb - which was a thumb sized oyster marinated in shot of soy sauce. This was absolutely not edible. I am not sure in what universe someone tried this oyster shooter and thought this would be appropriate for human consumption. We shared the feedback with the server and he did not care. Maybe use the low sodium soy sauce?? I can't help but think this restaurant is trying to be "Asian" by adding soy sauce wherever they can (similar to places that try to add "ginger" to give Asian flare). The French toast caviar was also extremely disappointing. The French toast was cold and stodgy, all pieces unevenly cut and sadly presented. I wouldn't normally be so critical, however at the $29 price point for 4 tiny pieces - I am expecting amazing bites. Instead what we got were 4 soggy pieces of (cold) French toast with a smear of cream cheese and a small dollop of paddle fish roe (not even real caviar). Everything else we ordered was good but not memorable. Overall I cannot recommend this restaurant. The restaurant attempts to be elevated but does not have the attention to detail, flavor balance, service level and ambiance to match the price point. Drinks were great though.

Rare treat off the Vegas strip.
Everything was of quality and tasted amazing. Nothing that we ordered was disappointing at all.
I would return here for another round in the future.

Went here for an early dinner during happy hour. The staff was very attentive and helpful in giving recommendations. A variety of small plates with excellent flavor and quality. Expect your tab to be a bit on the spendy side, but know that the higher prices reflect the high quality of the food. I would definitely come here again.

A wonderful small restaurant that serves amazingly fresh seafood. Menu is remarkably similar to The Pepper Club. The difference is quality. Other Mama is far superior. Excellent food. Excellent service. Wonderful experience. Will be dining here again.

The Food was delicious. Everything we ordered had great taste, and great quantity. The octopus here was beyond amazing. The best octopus I have ever eaten. Oysters where crazy good as well, we ordered the 4 x 4 x 4–which is 3 different flavors with four oysters of each, and it also has 4 different sauces. The style of how you would get the food was unique. I would say its some what like a coursed meal, but not planned, as you can choose the food, and there isn't a limit (im not saying they will let you order and immense amount of food, but that it is the style in that they are meant to serve the food). All plates are meant to be shared, (don’t have too) and are brought one by one (at least it was that way in my experience of eating there). Overall, the point of this review is too say that this place was amazing and a should go to place to eat seafood/sushi.

Hands down the best sushi we've had in a long time! We ordered the whitefish carpaccio, the spicy salmon tartare with waffle fries, deviled eggs with crispy oysters, kimchi fried rice, agadashi tofu, and the tempura shrimp/spicy tuna/avocado roll and OMG, we were in absolute heaven! This is was the perfect amount of food for two of us (if not a little more than we should have eaten) but everything was so delicious it was a joy to (over) eat! Special shout out for the whitefish carpaccio and tofu dishes. Just wow. Service was incredible, and the price of all this with a beer was under $100!! The cherry on this incredibly beautiful cake - we were given a scoop of their house-made coconut ice-cream on the house. And like everything else we tried, it was the BEST we've ever had! Must check this place out. We will be sure to have this on our itinerary EVERY SINGLE TIME we visit.

Great food and a really well thought-out atmosphere. The food isn't cheap and the portions aren't large, but everything is delicious (assuming you like the flavors). Some really interesting combinations that work surprisingly well.

Tasty sushi and rolls. Wide selection of sakes. Pricey and ambiance is not quite up to what would be expected at that price point. Friendly and accommodating service.

Main take away: Decent but nothing special, especially for the price.

This place is unassuming and totally worth it. Wonderful food with great options. No matter what flavor profile you’re looking for. I have been multiple times and look forward to going again.

Fresh sushi, unique dishes, a great neighborhood staple for us.

Since arriving in Vegas last summer I have become a regular here. The food is fantastic, and goes beyond what you would expect on a menu in a Sushi restaurant. Great martinis too...

Awesome little neighbor joint with great dishes. Try the miso calamari or the belly tuna if it's on the specials menu for the day.

Food is good but underwhelming experience. Long ticket times for seafood.

I found this place to be very expensive. I did not realize before going that all the dishes are tapas size. This made for a very expensive evening. Also, because it is tapas, the kitchen can easily get backed up; you are waiting quite a long time for your next dish. The food is very good and might be worth the expense for others. I do not plan to revisit.

Beautiful, tasty dishes. Comfortable and chill ambiance. Great place for friends or date night. Tried a little bit of everything. Sushi rolls were the bomb. Japanese fried chicken and deviled eggs were excellent. Cocktails were balanced and delicious. Highly recommend!

It’s ok. The high star rating is unwarranted. Wouldn’t go back, there are too many great restaurants here.

The best sushi we’ve had yet to date, on and off the strip. You can’t go wrong, the service, atmosphere and good experience is unlike any other. Do yourself a favor and get to Other Mama. We will be back over and over again

Another wonderful Dining experience at Other Mama. The food was delicious and the service was superb. Jordan H. our server was outstanding. She was welcoming, friendly and created an environment which, we thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend you give this establishment a try!

First time here, mostly due to reviews. I thought the place was over hyped and the first impression seemed that way. We were sat and the amazing wait staff quickly raised the bar. The food is fresh and the sushi is amazing the small plates are fun and make up for lack of sushi role options. This place will go on our frequent restaurants to visit. The bar mixes are great pairing for the dishes.
