Shigotonin's owner/chef are from Japan and prides itself in offering a selected menu of traditional Japanese dishes, regional specialties of various preferences of Japan, and homemade style cuisine with a modern flare.
Our dishes showcases the recommendations of the region's signature dishes with our original recipe and unique presentation. Immerse your palette in our culinary artworks and wonders of the Japan with our guidance and have a memorable dining experience.
Absolutely love this place, and hope the economy affords more people to come here in the future. The value is 100% in their quality of ingredients. Order any one of their boxes of imported Tuna and you'll never order it from anywhere else again. Then, pay the extra for their uni pasta with ikura. In terms of pasta, there's nothing quite like it in terms of creaminess and marriage of ocean and dairy.
The staff is always timely and courteous. The seating is personal and allows for privacy. Give this place a try, I doubt you'll find something you dislike there!

I went there last night, Uni was so delicious, so fresh! When I left, the boss told me to see you tomorrow! I came again tonight, but it was closed. It was only 8:30 pm. I saw on Google Maps that it closed at 11 pm. Boss, I came to fulfill "see you tomorrow" why did you close so early? Cry cry cry T﹏T

Food was fantastic! Fresh ingredients, skewers grilled to perfect tenderness! All dishes were great! 2 stars away because the attitude of the man at the front desk. Went there 10:20pm on Dec 26. Asked a table for 2 he just pointed to the bar. No words when serving dishes. Dead face when called for service. Shame for such a nice restaurant. But shout out to all other servers!

Their A5 wagyu is simply not eatable. $85 A5 wagyu the way they prepared it is unacceptable. Told the servers and the owner that and it could not even be exchanged. The worst service possible. Their sashimi is alright. This overpriced Japanese restaurant don't expect to get any good service.

I had high expectations for this place after reading many good reviews, but I was largely disappointed. First, the portions are very small. I understand the concept of tapas (small plates), but only two slices of monk fish liver (ankimo) for $13 (which they basically just cut and served)? I had three kinds of temakis and they were all good, but again, too expensive for what they are. The worst thing was the grilled snapper (kinmedai). The fish was cooked very hard, and there were lots of scales attached, which I accidentally ate and almost choked on. And it was around $30.

As a half japanese man that spent most of his life in Japan this is by far the most authentic most delicious Japanese food in Vegas and it's not even close. Service is always great and the Owners are extremely friendly and come to every table to make sure having an incredible experience. 10/5 stars

Unbelievable!! Twice Nobu pricing for this place… no host, no one to welcome you, except for who looks like maybe a manager smoking cigarettes outside the restaurant that looks like a homeless man guiding you inside the restaurant very rudely.
No hospitality, no cleanliness, servers place trays on the chairs while talking to the guest, dirty tables, menu was taped together dirty and old, paper napkin, no one to refill your sake, the server showing pictures of the food from his personal phone while guiding you through the menu.
Servers bringing wine to the tables and glasses as if he was carrying a football, hugging clean glassware and the chilled bottle which he never refilled once.
For a restaurant off the strip that has prices that are more expensive than Nobu and Zuma or any restaurant on the strip of Las Vegas, we were expecting at least a decent service, not a 5 start service but just basic and decent. No table maintenance. Food was ok but nothing crazy. They were out of half of the menu dishes. The one hamachi crudo plate we received had a garnish of old, sadly plated lettuce and the plate looked like a 4 month old child plated it.
Multiple dirty tables throughout the night for very long period of time were left un-attended. I can really appreciate the small selection and always want to support small businesses in Vegas especially off the strip but sadly, can’t even find anything positive to say about this restaurant.
We just feel offended but mostly robbed and shocked by the audacity of the prices that are higher than strip restaurants and service that doesn’t even meet basic service requirements.
When the basic of service 101 are missing that’s a huge red flag, especially if the owners are greedy enough to think they are providing a service good enough to open a restaurant that makes you spend more than $150 pp, and not even have a fast food like restaurant service style, it’s actually worse.
Very disappointed, and we’ve never left review in our life before as we are in the industry ourselves, but this was just so ridiculous I had to. Shame on you! The price vs food, service and atmosphere was just absurd and offensive!

Lovely staff accommodated me on a challenging schedule. This was absolutely a premium experience and they guided me through the serving. I usually spend less, and I'm sure you can do that here. I can't speak to that but the Temaki Bluefin set was exquisite. The owner is a lovely gentleman.

The food was great, albeit very expensive. However, upon returning home after dinner, my mother who ordered the kaisen bowl fell very ill and had significant stomach pain, which we expected was due to food poisoning.

The Japanese owner/chef does not behave decent at all. I expect businesses to be aware of and comply with ADA guidelines, but unfortunately, this was not the case here. I felt extremely disrespected and DISCRIMINATED against as a service animal handler.
How can my service animal perform her duties in a fully closed kennel? My service dog, staying quietly in a carrier, was already under the table, yet the server informed me that the “owner” demanded she be in a kennel. This request is not only UNNECESSARY but also NOT IN LINE with ADA regulations. If my condition were life-threatening, how would my service animal perform her duties in a fully closed kennel?
I confronted and asked to talk to the owner directly. To make matters worse, the owner did not speak English and REFUSED to communicate with us directly, heading back to kitchen leaving the server to relay his unreasonable demands.
I explained to the server that my dog's carrier is compliant with airline and all other standards, the bag can be closed fully, but before I do that I need to know WHY I should even do that, it’s never an issue in other restaurants, why is this restaurant so different? Despite this, the owner insisted on his "own" standards for accepting a service dog, which does not sound legally binding at all. Ridiculous.
This situation made me feel undervalued and mistreated, leading me to withhold my tip as a reflection of the owner's attitude, though the servers were not at fault.
I am extremely disappointed with the owner's behavior and lack of respect. I hope the restaurant will educate themselves on proper service animal protocols to avoid discriminating against other handlers in the future.
Food quality overall is good - if that’s what the owner only cares about.

I understand Vegas food is expensive but $38USD for a uni "handroll"? I was willing to pay for it until I saw it. It was one piece of uni on rice on seaweed. Lol other portions are pretty small for the price you pay for as well. Is it worth it? My answer is no. Would I go back? Definitely not.

Just stupid good!! I'm not the biggest fan of sushi/sashimi, but wanted to try with my girlfriend who loves it. Best sashimi I've ever had. The "4 kinds" bluefin tuna is next level, and generous portions. Also had the Wagyu carpaccio and the uni noodles - both amazing. The fresh wasabi is memorable. Great sake and great service. Will come back!

This place is an absolute gem! I always make a point to dine here whenever I'm in Vegas. The fish is super fresh and the service is top-notch. The chirashi is my personal favorite - the sashimi is thick and flavorful, and the rice is just perfect. And let's not forget the buttery unni pasta - it's to die for! My family also enjoyed this place, and I'm so glad I brought them here.

From the moment you step into Shigotonin Japanese Tapas and Sake, you're welcomed into an atmosphere that feels genuinely Japanese, thanks to the warm and personable husband-and-wife team who own and run the restaurant. Their passion for their culture and cuisine translates into every aspect of the dining experience, making Shigotonin a standout in Las Vegas.
The quality of the food, especially the sushi, is unparalleled. Each piece is a work of art, showcasing the freshest ingredients and masterful preparation that surpass anything else you’ll find in the city. It's clear that there's a high standard for quality and authenticity here.
Service at Shigotonin is nothing short of excellent. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to make your dining experience memorable. They expertly guide you through the menu, suggesting pairings and specialties that enhance your meal.
Whether you’re looking to enjoy a lively evening with friends or a more intimate date night, Shigotonin is perfectly suited for both. The ambiance allows for either a festive group experience or a quiet, cozy evening for two.
I wholeheartedly recommend Shigotonin to anyone craving authentic Japanese tapas and exceptional sushi. This place is a true gem in Las Vegas and not to be missed!

In A Nutshell:
-Shigotonin, which is I believe to be named after the owner, Mr. Shigo is a really, really great find for high-quality Japanese food.
-Before I even write more, you NEED TO EAT HERE IF YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A TRUE JAPANESE FOODIE.
-I highly recommend their Uni Pasta w/ Ikura.
-It comes out piping hot w/ delicious uni flavors that pair perfectly w/ the ikura.
-I also recommend their Sakura Box Chu Toro which comes w/ Akami, Negitoro, Chutoro, Uni & Ikura.
-The pieces of Chu Toro are HUGE!
-Finally, their handrolls are phenomenal, especially the Akami.
-They are very big, so one is big enough to share between 2 people.
Overall, I noticed a lot of travelers eating here w/ their luggage in tow, this a great sign that this place is known outside of Vegas.

Delicious Japanese food, although the raw fish is a bit uneven - at its worse is still quite tasty, but won't blow your mind. At its best it's excellent, although in Vegas even excellence may not be enough to stand out. The 5 kinds of fish sashimi was a particularly good value the last visit.

This is the place in Vegas...
The owners/ cheft are sooooo lovely and sweet, great humble people. So you can only imagine how great the food is too.
Most of their stuff are imported from Japan, and you can tell by the taste. I can't imagine any "SUSHI LOVER" having a bad experience here. This will be my go-to spot whenever I am in Vagas. Well worth it, and the price was way better than most, especially for the quality of sushi and the amount as well. This spot is a win-win. Everything that I tried was a *10. It's a lot of food.
For something like this meal, you can easily spend $500 and still feel hungry. We both ate and were so full for less than half that amount. The food was sooo good. I couldn't eat anymore and still wanted to and DID finish everything on the table. The uni pasta is very filling, but also sooooo delicious. If you like sea food pasta, go for it. Sushi was perfect, and the sashimi rice box was to die for! I was so shocked at how much fish was in there for the price. Not only that, it was so fresh, tasty, and just melt in your mouth. I am now and forever will be a regular. This is where I want to eat sushi every time i am in Vagas. 😋
I will be back soon!

I came to this place for sashimi after reading my reviews. My wife and I arrived Shigotonin in the evening of a Friday with a reservation. Right after our arrival, the dining room was already half full. We then were greeted by the store manager/owner. After seated, the waiter introduced their daily special, which is 8-piece sashimi. The waiter also recommended Saki for us. We also ordered some other dishes. The food is fresh and sake is ok to be honest. The service is not particular impressive; I have to wave my hand to attract their attention. Also the food/wine are a bit pricy; the single order of 8-piece daily special sashimi costs $150!! And they are not written on the menu because it is special. I would have checked the price before ordering. Unfortunately I did not and order another 8-piece for a total of $300. The second order apparently is prepared in rush. Not sure if it is because we the only one who order this pricy “special” lol. Atmosphere is also not impressive with loud noise from the group dining just behind my seat. I hope this description of experience justifies my rating of this restaurant. They might have their “value” menu, but you need to pay tuition to find out. Don’t count on the wait staff to tell you lol. Our dinner cost over $550 in total, even more expensive than the Michelin restaurant on the Las Vegas strip!

The best place for fresh and raw fish in Las Vegas. The service is excellent and attentive. The choices are plentiful and one of the few places where you get quantity matched with quality. I've been here dozens of times and have never been let down. My 2nd top recommendation in the area if you are in search for something amazing. 1st if accounting for cost. The other being Kame Sushi but that starts at $400 plus per person for the experience. I always come here with a party of 3-5. We eat a variety of sashimi. Have our fill of the variety of Toro and leave with a bill under $300. I've never been served something subpar here. All top quality from cooked to raw. The ambiance is nothing special but here you pay for the actual steak not the sizzle. Come try it, you won't be let down.
Parking is plentiful and free as it's off the strip. Spring Mountain Road is where it is at.

I was first introduced to Shigotonin by my fellow Chefs at Bouchon. I had only just arrived in Las Vegas from NYC and they wanted to show me that Las Vegas too had good restaurants. But to take a New Yorker to a raw fish restaurant, in the desert and nonetheless, a Japanese restaurant that chooses to identify as a “Japanese tapas bar”. Needless to say, my expectations were low. A quick review of the website (I NEVER read online reviews), confirmed my initial thought and I arrived with low expectations.
I was wrong. I was SO wrong.
In a small parking lot area of Las Vegas’s Chinatown, sits a small Japanese tapas bar called Shigotonin, meaning "person who does their job without mistakes", so accurate.
Upon entering, you are greeted by the host, who is also a server, and the sommelier. A small space with walls painted in black, large wooden tables, with wide benches and some chairs are spread with abundance of space between them. The open kitchen is covered by a tinted glass window, allowing you to smell, but not see the cooking. And the ceilings are tall.
You are seated and soon after, welcomed again by the owner, who is also the Chef. He approaches, with a long list of specials for the day, hand written on a large chalkboard, he places this on a chair in front of the table. And begins to run through the dishes, whilst showing you pictures of them, he took today, on his phone.
The host, server, somm, will return shortly to take you order. The food arrives as it is ready. The Sake recommended is Junmai and it is great, for its flavor as well as value. And the private sitting is warm, it allows the atmosphere of dining to feel intimate and inviting.
Dish after dish comes out and each one is better than the previous. Fresh fish, which are flown in daily from Japan, are sliced sashimi style and placed on warm brown rice, that is the Chef’s, who is also the owner’s, signature rice. An eel roll is warm and fresh. The tuna tartar is served with fresh wasabi and crispy sea weed, to allow you to create your own hand roll. Four different cuts of Blue Fin Tuna, varying by fattiness, Salmon, Scallop, Shrimp, Hamachi, Ikura and Uni, all come as options in an individual temaki style, open face hand roll. Each portion of fish is generous and served with a side of the house fresh wasabi and the traditional, soy sauce, pickled ginger and wasabi.
The warmth of the rice in these sushi style dishes, paired with the high fat of the fish, allow the perfect setting for a bite that actually, scientifically, melts in your mouth. Had I mentioned yet how very wrong I was about what I thought of this restaurant before I began feasting? And the best was yet to come. Nothing prepared me for the next dish. A bowl of pasta (I know, pasta at a japanese restaurant), in a very light creamy sauce, topped with three pieces of fresh Uni. This japanese style (very much spaghetti) pasta, is served with gold tongs for mixing and portioning to share. The Uni flavors the entire dish with an oceanic sweetness and again, the Chef’s use of heat and fat, creates a dish that disappears from the plates in seconds, leaving you to wonder, perhaps this was just a dream?
I had to find out! I had to know if this experience was based on the low expectations I carried with me when I arrived, perhaps the excitement of dining with my new fellow co-workers, or maybe I was especially hungry and I don't recall. So, I returned, and I returned again, and then I returned again, and I brought a friend, and another time I brought a guest visiting from New York, and again, and I returned another time with my father, and I returned again with a different co-worker. It is such a great feeling to bring someone to a new place, a restaurant they had never been to, whether they are foodies, or not. And to know, without a doubt, that they are going to have an exceptional fish experience in the desert.

Placeholder 1 star until we work out a resolution with restaurant.
Went here with 2 friends, Sat night, 8/20/22 ~8:15pm. Special occassion re-union dinner.
All 3 of us got food poisoned. One of the few times in my life where I had to vomit from the gastro pain.
How do I know it was them? Because I had *nothing* to eat that day (I fast for feasts). And my friends had Chick-fil-A with zero chance for food poisoning.
I want to be fair and review the positives though (dining experience itself)
== Review of Dining Experience ==
Excellent. 5 stars. Excellent service, excellent recommendations. Friendly staff and the owner came out to greet us afterwards.
I *love* sushi, and am a foodi that doesn't use any garnishes/soy sauce - I like to focus on the pure flavor and texture of the sashimi cuts itself.
What we had:
* 3 uni handrolls: good, but a bit of sticker shock at $28/each (did not realize that was the market price when ordering)
* Uni pasta: Their signature dish. Sublime, just perfect.
* otoro sampler: excellent otoro. thick cut.
* chutoro sampler: excellent
* sake: excellent recommendation
* other: chopped wasabi, ground wasabi, ginger
== Food poisoning ==
Couple hours after, ~11pm, I started getting an intensifying gastrointestinal pain (like heartburn but in pylorus region). Sweating profusely and seeing double, I had to vomit. Next day I felt 4/10 energy wise. Elevated heartrate for rest of weekend - I'm just starting to feel ok.
Both my friends were wiped out as well.
Edit: This establishment poisoned everyone that night, and they don't care - cause they know they can get away with it. No honor; they are a disgraced blemish to sushi.
What I would recommend instead? Any AYCE sushi joint. They have better food safety because they have a much higher volume.

The Chef shared a level of enthusiasm around his food and the menu when he explained via a large handwritten display. Food and it's presentation remain memorable. The unagi roll had fluffy eel. The option of choice between different Salmon and Tuna cuts allows for a customization of experience. The grilled squid had an exceptionally soft texture with a lightly acidic kewpie sauce. Looking forward to revisiting if the opportunity arises.

I travel to Japan quite frequently and when I say that the quality of fish is on par with Japan it is because it is. They import a lot of their ingredients from Japan so you are getting top quality seafood. They also have a great selection of sake of you enjoy having a drink with your fish. I really enjoyed the food here and would come back. The portions are quite reasonable so don't order too much at a time.

The manager is completely on the employees side, didn’t look sorry at all, and they even asked me have you ever had good uni before, I was completely shocked about how RUDE they could be to the customers, the manager is also trying to blame everything on us, Never Never Never go there take my word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shigotonin, is a true culinary masterpiece that tantalizes the senses. When you step inside, you're greeted with an inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.
The menu takes some of the freshest fish and ingredients directly from Japan that showcase the chef's culinary expertise. Anything and everything you try from the menu is delicious.
Pleas do try the the Uni pasta, you can’t go wrong with anything you choose though.
The service is impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff. Chef can be seen making his way through the restaurant, making jokes and making sure everyone is enjoying their meal. Every time I have went, chef personally comes out and welcomes you, explaining the dishes he offers. He really makes you feel welcome and at home.
They have an extensive selection of sake if that’s your thing
In addition to the outstanding food and service, the attention to detail extends to the presentation of the dishes, which are like works of art on a plate. The use of unique and high-quality ingredients, along with the exquisite plating, elevates the dining experience to a true culinary journey to Japan.
The attention to detail, creativity in flavors, impeccable service, and exquisite presentation make Shigotnin a true gem. It's a place where food is elevated to an art form, and diners are treated to a gastronomic experience like no other. Whether it's a special occasion or simply a night out. Shigotonin is my favorite restaurant in Las Vegas.

I recently visited Shigotonin Japanese Tapas in Las Vegas and was blown away by the amazing quality of the food. As someone who has spent a lot of time in Japan, I can confidently say that the snow crab uni sushi, bullefin toro, and chirashi are some of the best Japanese dishes I've ever had. The flavors were spot-on and the presentation was beautiful. 5 stars doesn't do this restaurant justice - it deserves even higher praise. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine, don't miss out on Shigotonin. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely obsessed after my first meal here this week. They required reservations for the day I went, but wasn’t difficult to make a resy. I called a few days beforehand and they were able to take my party of two. The service was on point and the owner was incredibly friendly. He came by our table to personally show us pictures of the menu items from his phone. We ordered the Sakura box, scallop carpaccio, and uni pasta. The tuna pieces were huge and so fresh (we were told they had flown in the fish from earlier that morning). The uni pasta was so creamy and flavorful. I also thought the pasta was cooked to perfection. It was cooked al dente and had the right amount of chewiness. The carpaccio was my least favorite of the three, but I still thought it was very fresh. The sauce on the side was not too sweet and complimented the scallop well. Hoping to coming back and try their salmon box next time I am in town.

The best Japanese cuisine I’ve ever had. Very friendly staff, went through the special menu with us. Items may look expensive but the portion is huge. Chirashi is highly recommended. Uni pasta is too salty, the freshness of uni is covered :( Reservations preferred.

Absolutely gorgeous and delicious food. Sakura box is to die for- best $70 we have ever spent. Super fresh ingredients and amazing taste. The cold tofu and grilled ika (squid) are the best appetizers I have ever tasted at a Japanese restaurant. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They explained the menu and the daily specials in detail. We came from LA and I will be back for this place. Writing this comment with a happy and full stomach because I hope this business does so well in the future even though it might mean I won’t be able to get a reservation🥹 (Reservation is required as of 12/22/2022. Free plaza parking. 10 min from strip)

Shigotonin has some of the best Japanese food in Vegas. Following other reviewers, we ordered: chutoro special box, salmon belly handroll, uni pasta, and the sweet potato and ice cream dessert. You can't go wrong with the chutoro box and the uni pasta, two of our favorite dishes ever. We'll also get the salmon miso next time we come.
The service was wonderful as well. The owner of the restaurant came out to our table and personally introduced us to their menu. I love it when the staff recommends dishes to order. You can't miss at this restaurant.

Every detail was perfect here. Very friendly staff that spends a lot of time going over the menu. The food is amazingly fresh, literally everything we had here was one of the best versions of that particular dish. The uni pasta was perfection. Very hard for a restaurant to execute at this caliber on every dish. Would highly recommend!

Food was priced a bite higher than other similar quality sushi Resturants. Food was good though, had some special dishes other places don't have.

It's a 5 star for me easily.
.
Uni pasta - the pasta is creamy and has a good chunk of uni on top. It was a good filler.
.
Special sushi box - the sashimi on top was fresh. It was very pretty and colorful. The sushi rice is different than your regular white sticky rice. Personally the rice wasn't a favorite but it was fancy.
.
Grilled Saba - it was cooked to perfection. It was kind if salty with out the rice. It was good tho. Perfect to pair with a drink.
.
Salmon baguette w/yuzu aioli - little bites but so yummy! The salmon was definitely creamy and fresh.
.
Unagi roll - the rice is not the white kind. It was a mixed and kind of light purple. I think I prefer white sushi rice to pair with it.
.
Hoba oyster spicy miso - the oysters was fresh and cooked in a sweet savory sauce. I can see this pair with some good sake would be a yessss...
.
Toki highball - on the menu it mention 8 but when the bill it came out to 10? Not sure why... but not bothered by the 2 bucks but I do want to point this out. It was Suntori whiskey , so mmmm....
.
Sweet potato w/ice cream - they sold me on 2 hrs to cook the sweet potato. The ice cream was vanilla drizzled with sauces. It was good but nothing too special.
.
Overall I really enjoyed the experience. It was very quality in food and service. I loved how the owner comes over and let us know what the special is for the day. Easy 5 star experience. If you are looking for japan eats, look no further, their daily specials changes often. Thanks for reading, hope this review helps, and have a yelptastic day!

Great food & even better service! The owner personally came to our table, gave us a business card, & visually showed us pictures of their special menu items to match with the menu board. He was super friendly, took photos with us, shared his background as a chef from Japan & Hawaii. He mentioned that the sashimi was also imported from Japan today so it’s really fresh. Truly an experience we will be back for!

The food here speaks for themselves. Everything is perfectly cooked and seasoned. Simply go for anything you’d like.
I have never had a stew that is so fresh and savory. The Hokkaido soup has some secret surprise for you.
The sashimi is also very fresh and not so expensive considering the portion. One tip for everyone is do NOT order too many otoro and salmon. Try to match the fatty ones with something refreshing.

The best quality of sushi you could ever asked for. All imported from Japan. The owner of the restaurant, Shuji and his wife, are so sweet. Definitely a repeat!

Amazing sushi that is reminiscent of my time in Tokyo. The quality of the food is amazing, staff is super attentive, and the owner comes around and explains in detail of all the specials.
Highly, highly recommend the uni pasta! Was so rich, umami, and decadent. I will be dreaming of that dish for many days. This place rivals any Michelin star sushi restaurant such as Nobu. This is definitely worth a visit!!

One of THE most memorable meals of a lifetime @shigotoninsp #oyshi
The owner greeted us as he showed his superb assortment of seafood from Japan and unique dishes, including the uni pasta. Wide selection of sake. Amazing meal from start to end with super-friendly service!
Rivals the best meals I’ve had in Tokyo. Worth taking a trip off the Strip!!

Exceptional food and service. Best and most authentic Japanese cuisine I’ve ever had in US. The freshness of their ingredients is absolutely impeccable - totally worth it! And the owner is so passionate that he spent time introducing and showing us the pics of every single special for the day. Wish I could give 6 stars. Strongly recommend!!!

We went for Mother’s Day dinner, food was excellent, atmosphere was nice. Seats weren’t my favorite, but they were serviceable. The owner checked on us multiple times and couldn’t have been nicer. He made recommendations and at one point actually made us special shrimp miso.
If you like fresh Japanese fare, this is the place for you.

Amazing food and service. Everything is insanely fresh, some of the freshest tasting fish you can get outside of Japan, even on par with fish I've had in Japan easily. They have a large special menu of daily dishes and ingredients. Everything tasted sooo good and the owner and servers were just sweet & genuine people.

Fresh sushi, good food, nice decor. They have the best (Hokkaido) Unni pasta. Their chirashi is tasty as well. A bit on the pricey side. There were 5 of us and we spent about $250...still not full afterwards. Parking is limited though so be there early.

Top tier quality fish in Vegas
Visited 3 years ago
Between the impressive sake selection and the even more impressive fish, Shigotonin manages to stand out amongst the crowd with their top shelf ingredients and absurd attention to detail. The rotating specials demand repeat visits, and the menu mainstays themselves will likely be enough to get you to come back. If you want top tier Sashimi and the perfect sake to accompany it, Shigotonin is well worth the trip.

For Japanese food, I always prefer quality over quantity and Shifotonin is the epitome of serving quality food and service. When we didn’t know what to get, the lovely owner took the time to show us photos of each item on his phone and describe them to us. He was very patient and we got everything we wanted because of him. Our server was also so kind, and even held the door open when we left. Her kindness was amazing and we were glad we gave her the tip she deserved. The food was so flavorful and authentic Japanese from Japan. The fish was so flavorful and fresh - I usually don’t like sashimi but I tried it and the fish just melted in my mouth. The egg sushi was also so flavorful and a classic. The jidori chicken was so flavorful and the best chicken I’ve ever had in that style. I also got the unagi roll and it was very good. We got this soup and it was very good and they added rice after. I am glad I tried this place!

One of THE BEST Japanese restaurants in Vegas, owned by a real craftsman from Kyoto, hands down! I am from Osaka and I was so impressed by his passion and care to explain the today’s special to each customer showing the pictures of delicacies on his phone, serene interior, and most of all, the first class cuisine carefully created with their homemade fresh ingredients including soy sauce, soup and everything else! Must try SASHIMI special Chirashi with Toro and Uni! You will die when you eat Zuni Pasta! This is for true foodies whether Japanese or non Japanese, highly recommended! You should RSVP.

What a fantastic new restaurant for the Vegas scene. My guy had reservations for é by Jose Andres but I asked that we go here instead because I’d been wanting to try it and for our first meal out since quarantine, I didn’t feel like going totally high end.
It was FANTASTIC. The tables were socially distanced and service was exemplary. The food was just exquisite, course after course. Many of their ingredients are flown in from Japan and you can discern their unique flavors. Also, the delicate flavors of each ingredient are so perfectly highlighted without dousing everything in sauce. It’s precisely the kind of cooking I like.
NOTE: Order the ankimo (monkfish liver). It’s the best ankimo I’ve ever had in the US, and possibly Japan. Move over, foie gras!
The ambiance is new, clean, contemporary and spacious. It’s one of those places that would be perfect for a group dinner but also an intimate occasion.
There’s a good quality sake list with reasonably priced bottles.

They staff is very attentive and service is amazing. The owner went around to every table and explained the daily specials and showed photos on his phone. The portions are pretty big for tapas style food. Sashimi pieces were big and six pieces come in an order.

Best Tuna ever, service is excellent. Everything we ordered was fabulous, fresh and amazing. If you’re looking the best quality of fish this is the place. Better than any strip sushi place.

Decent quality Japanese restaurant considering we are in Vegas. Clean decor. I'm from SoCal hence high quality Japanese ingredients at this price level is expected and more. Expect higher price if your definition of Japanese food are sushi rolls and teriyaki.

I love sushi so much. This is the first place in Vegas I have tried that serves sushi Kyoto style. They fly in their fish from Kyoto daily. Friendly chef and owner. The Sakura bowl was so amazing. The toro was so fresh. The ikura was some of the best I have had. The uni was spectacular. I do wish it had a bit more uni on it. But all together, it had so much high quality fish on it that it is so worth the $55. The fish is so soft and buttery. If you are looking for something a little bit different than the traditional sushi you are used to, this is it.

Wow, what amazing quality food! All the fish is apparently fresh from Japan and the taste certainly reflects quality. The staff is overwhelming nice and attentive, and the Uni pasta is the best I've had in a very very long time. I'm happy to come back just for that dish alone!
They have a great selection of fish, so come with an appetite!

Spent $96 on just myself before tip and was still starving afterwards. They ran out of fish and didn't care to tell us until our stuff was about 30 minutes late. :/ Worst tasting sake in a small can for $13 a pop. Generally just a pretentious place. Nice staff and good ambiance, though.

A hidden gem in Las Vegas , fresh fish flown in from Japan and Hawaii , great service and super friendly owner , but overall , delicious and generous sashimi , and huge variety of Japanese dishes. Highly recommended , it's not cheap , but excellent value !

High quality ingredients and the sashimi is very fresh. The service was great and attentive. The server and owner kindly explained everything on the menu and walked us through their daily specials. More on the pricier side compared to Vegas AYCE options but still good value for the quality of sashimi you get. Highly recommend the Sakura rice box

Great tapas with authentic Japanese dishes. The selection available is designed with all pallets in mind. If your looking for a great dinner hangout, this is one of those places. They have now gone even farther with a great selection of fine imported specials straight from the source. Definately a place that will keep you coming back and well deserved.

This was an amazing find. We didn’t know what we wanted and the staff were able to design a tasting menu that was incredible. I highly recommend taking the staff’s advice and try something new, and you’ll discover something you love.

Been here a few times and don't think it's that great. Yes the seafood is good but it's very expensive. The service isn't good either, every time we've gone, they've messed up our orders. Last time they didn't even bother taking my order (in a large group the server bounced randomly from person to person and then left) then cancelled my items (out of stock) then didn't even serve several items we ordered

This restaurant had both of us, my wife and I surprise by the quality of not just the food and presentation, But the welcoming service provided from the entire staff made our experience feel like a rediscovery of cultural appreciation of food we share to one another through service putting extra details and effort in the little things. Thank you.

I made a reservation for Tuesday April 13. When arriving, the restaurant was closed, no notice on Google nor website, no courtesy call to me. Left a voice mail, still no call back from the restaurant.
I don't care how good the food might be, I will noy frequent a restaurant that treats customers so poorly.
Rabota En, Raku are within a mile, great food and customer service

This is one of those mythical places that doesn't exist in my home state of New Mexico. You are lucky Vegas. Patron the restaurant and keep them alive. Fine dinning Japanese at a reasonable price. I had uni pasta, monk fish liver, with a mackeral roll. Spectacular. Even the sake recommendation was spot on.
