We came here just 8 months ago and had one of the most incredible meals, and I am so impressed that they not only met our memory, but somehow got even better?? We got the premium omakase, which was $150 (regular was $120), but 100% worth it. Every bite was perfection- high quality ingredients, perfectly seasoned, perfect temperature-everything. On top of the incredible food, the service was impeccable - John, our host, was super kind, talked us through the menu, and his recommendations and insight were on point. The chef was also very friendly, and they both checked in on us to make sure everything we had was meeting our standards.

Starting off strong with the small, mild, refreshing oysters that came with delicious sauces, and then the clam miso soup, which was light and cozy.

Then came the sashimi platter in what has to be one of the most amazing sauces I’ve ever had. Followed by the smoked otoro. My partner got emotional at how delicious it was. These two dishes will probably haunt me.

Then had a sushi platter. All of the fish had its own topping and the rice was warm and perfectly seasoned. And then the sushi roll, which was perfectly balanced - meaty and rich with the tuna and avocado, but light and refreshing with the soy paper wrap and masago.

We ended sharing the uni pasta (which is cooked with lobster stock) and the mushroom miso pasta. Both were decadent, rich, and utterly fantastic.

Overall this place is a 10/10 and deserves all the love! Honestly this place is on par with Michelin star restaurants, IMO, but easier to get a table. If you’re looking for a fancy night out, look no further!

Fresh sushi, modern decor, excellent service. The presentation and taste of the smoked toro was exquisite. Unexpectedly however, the uni pasta was the star of the night. I could have easily ordered two more just for myself (wish I had some bread for the sauce). Need to try the omakase next time!

Highly recommend this Sushi restaurant. There are only waiters but they are very professional and polite. There are many unique types of sushi that you have never seen before. This is the first restaurant in my life that makes sushi your way, you can choose raw or cooked fish; regular rolls or little rice or no rice. I love this and will come back more often

Sat at the counter to see the sushi made in front of us! It was such a nice experience!

You can tell lots of thought and care went into the rolls.

The oysters were fresh. The picante and flamingo rolls were great, but the dragon roll was something special!

Service was warm and welcoming and the restaurant was well presented and clean.

Been lucky to try a lot of good sushi in my life. Then also great sushi. Masa in NYC, a few great places in Tokyo, Nobu in about 12 locations, on and on. The quality of the fish here is absolutely top notch. Every bite was extremely fresh. I did the omakase and my server (John I think?) was great and informative.

Trust me, sushi should always be about quality over everything else. Taru gets that.

The food was a mixed experience. The uni pasta was a major letdown—it felt more like a lobster pasta with a touch of uni. Aside from the small piece of uni on top, the flavor of uni was barely noticeable. Similarly, the recommended toro roll with soy wrap didn’t meet expectations; the combination failed to elevate the toro’s natural taste.

That said, the yakitori was grilled to perfection with a delicious charred flavor. The clam soup surprisingly paired well with the pasta, leaving taste of umami.

The restaurant offers a pleasant ambiance, making it a good spot for gathering with friends if food finesse isn’t your top priority.

This is several days late, but this is for our experience on Sunday August 4. We were a party of 17 celebrating my mom's birthday and chose Taru because they were so accommodating. Our server (forgot his name but from Hawaii ) took such good care of us. I was also in contact several days before with the manager (Joon) who checked in with me to make sure we were all set. Everyone went home with their tummies full and happy. Definitely a great place for groups, big or small. Everything we had was excellent, which was made obvious by no one having any doggy bags. Thank you Taru!

This is a premier sushi restaurant on Spring Mountain Rd. First time here and we were blown away. Service was friendly and helpful and the decor was clean and modern.
Started with a salmon belly night and fresh oysters. Both were excellent. I love when nigiri is served at the right temp and the rice is seasoned well.
420 roll was a Chef’s Special and it was delicious with shrimp tempura inside with albacore on top with a couple delicious sauces.
The albacore sashimi in ponzu topped with crispy onions was delicious but maybe a bit too close to the crazy salmon roll with spicy salmon inside, fresh salmon on top with crispy onions. Both were delicious though.
We go the crispy rice with spicy tuna & avocado. Had it many other places but this may have been the best (sorry Pepper Club).
Finally we got the Uni pasta. Not a huge fan of Uni but, when mixed into the sauce it gave a creamy umami that was amazing. The star was actually the lobster broth the boiled the pasta in that gave the whole dish a lobster note.
Overall, one of my new favorite sushi places in Las Vegas. Highly recommend.

We love sushi, so finally decided to give this place a try. Love the intimate atmosphere, the food was delicious! The service was amazing our waiter was John was incredible. He suggested some items and was very attentive. We had the wagyu beef ramen. The noodles where perfect, the veggies had a crunch to them and the broth, was chefs kiss. We also ordered a spicy salmon roll, spicy scallop roll and forbidden pleasure roll, veggie & shrimp tempura an edamame. We didn't have any cocktails.

Atmosphere is great. Everything from decor to music. A few unique items on the menu also stand out. Try a no-rice roll wrapped in Yellowtail or pickled radish. Get the crispy rice appetizer with spicy tuna and avocado! Our host and server with both lovely and attentive. We sometimes venture off strip when in Vegas and we’ll definitely come back next time.

Absolutely fantastic. As a first-time customer, I wanted to try a bunch of different stuff so I had the 10 piece premium sushi plus toro roll and miso soup, mixed tempura, Japanese fried chicken, and mushroom miso pasta. All of them were really good, especially the mushroom miso pasta which was phenomenal. The portion sizes were much larger than expected (mixed tempura was 2x larger than expected, the karaage was 2x larger than expected, and the mushroom miso pasta was 3x larger than expected). Service was exceptional - professional, knowledgeable, genuinely warm and friendly, and thoughtful (they staggered my orders into the kitchen to make sure I still wanted all the dishes since I ordered so much). The ambience was really chill (dark lighting and soft female vocal trance while I was there; I went at 9pm). Overall, really great and high quality food, fantastic service, large portions, and great overall value. I'm sure I'll be back over and over.

I recently dined at Taru and was absolutely blown away by the quality and freshness of their sushi. Each piece was a masterpiece, bursting with flavors that dance on the palate. But the true star of the show was the A5 Wagyu Nigiri, a divine experience that was recommended by our attentive waitress. Despite not being on the menu yet, this dish was hands-down the best thing I have ever eaten--rich, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

The attention to detail at Taru is impeccable, and the ambiance complements the luxurious dining experience. I can't recommend this restaurant enough and, if you get the chance, do not pass up the Wagyu Nigiri. It's more than a meal; it's a culinary journey that you won't forget. Forgot to take many pictures as I was just so excited to try everything I've ordered. Nigiri were the most delicious I've tried in a while. Salmon, tuna, scallop (wow) and hamachi. All amazing and fresh. Trio carpaccio was so good. Uni pasta was so good (little bit too spicy for me personally). Service is great, everyone attentative. Definitely will be back when I am in Vegas!

I had this place on my list of sushi restaurants to try in Vegas and finally was able to visit.

This place is like a hidden gem. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you get inside, it's a modern and very chic Japanese restaurant. They serve some of the best sashimi and nigiri I ever had in Vegas. Prices are good for Vegas, the service is impeccable, and the presentation is nice. If you love Salmon like I do, their salmon belly nigiri is some of the best I ever had. Perfectly made sushi rice makes all the difference along with fresh fish.

I will definitely be back. 3 of the favorites in my meal includes the salmon belly nigiri, clam miso soup, and the negitoro nigiri.

My wife and I were looking for quite awhile for a great (not just good) a la carte sushi spot and then we stumbled upon this gem.

The staff, service, atmosphere and most importantly the quality of the food/sushi are amazing. We were so pleased with their food and service we came back the next weekend. The sushi was so fresh and cut perfectly. Their Uni was so fresh, we could taste the ocean. The ramen was next level, just thinking of it makes me want to get some right now!

This has definitely solidified our top spot for a la carte sushi and Japanese food in Vegas and we look forward to returning.

Best sushi I’ve ever had in the US! My hubby has high standards for sushi being from Japan and Korea, he very much enjoyed the premium 10 pc sushi combo. We wanted to try a new sushi place. After a lot of research and reading good reviews we elected to try this spot.

What a pleasant surprise. Very comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff and a great variety on the menu.

We made reservations for 7pm and we were promptly seated.

We started with some sparking water and sake. Then had edamame, shishito peppers and oysters. Then proceeded to order Heart of Samurai, Salmon Belly, Yellowtail Belly, Sea Urchin, Empire of the Sun and O’Toro

Our server was Eun and she was great.

Pricing is great. Nigiri price is for 2 pieces while sashimi is for 6. You cannot complain on that.

Freshness of the fish is 7/10. Not the best but not the worst. Bluefin tuna was fresh but the amberjack and yellowfin had no smell but had a slight fishy taste that lingered. The waiter tried to upsale the sashimi specials which was obviously designed to mask the lack of freshness.

Biggest complaint is the service. On a fairly slow night with half the restaurant empty they had issues getting food out. Waited over an hour to receive my 8 pieces of nigiri. Was told 3 times that the sushi chefs were swamped and suggested I also order from the hot menu. During this time I witnessed 3 parties come in after me and had their sushi rolls prepared and served to them before me, even one party that came in roughly 30 minutes after I placed my order. Which is unacceptable.

From the moment we walked into the restaurant our experience was amazing. The service was amazing, all the staff worked together to provide the most outstanding service. We started with appetizers and we were not disappointed. The food was so fresh and the flavor combinations were simply brilliant. We ordered three sushi rolls, we were smiling and laughing with every bite. This is the amazing kind of food that brings those endorphins to an all time high with its excellence. We will be back again for sure. This restaurant is an absolute must if you are in Las Vegas. Another bonus is its off the strip, easy parking and so clean and elegant.

We learned of Taru less than a month ago booked our first visit after reading several rave reviews. We were not disappointed. We booked a second reservation, this time with friends, just a few weeks later and it is now our absolute favorite Sushi/Japanese restaurant in all of Las Vegas.

The quality and creativity of the dishes is matched by exceptional service and a very welcoming and well-designed dining room.

If you enjoy letting the chef choose your dishes, simply tell your server the max price per person you’d like to spend, any preferences or allergies and they will curate a unique menu just for you.

Walked in on a Wednesday night. Initially we felt apprehension being one of two tables here. The apprehension quickly faded as we were warmly greeted by our server John. He introduced us to specials, drink recommendations, and we were off to the races. I travel every week with work, but I’m a local to Las Vegas. Being well traveled casts a shadow for sushi from places like Hawaii, and Alaska. This place was a huge outlier and reminds me that I don’t need to hop on a plane to experience fresh, innovative, and delicious sushi. Had great sushi, great service, great drinks, and I feel grateful. 🙏🏽

We just flew in from San Diego a few hours ago and were pretty famished, Taru had good ratings so we decided to check it out. Omg! It was amazing!! Best sashimi I've ever had, a creative menu with all of the classics, and the service was incredible. EJ (sic?) Was our server and she was the kindest, attentive in the best way, and really proud of her restaurant. Our busser was also very kind and attentive. Im still in awe of the quality of their fish, everything was just so fresh!! Try this place!!

This place is a gem in a city crowded with fancy restaurants.
Many restaurants can serve good sashimi with fresh ingredients, but few can elevate. The chef here really does, by putting his magic culinary touch to each and every dish. Rather than serving sashimi with vanilla "soy sauce and wasabi", he makes different sauce based on the taste and texture of the fish.
I would not be surprised if this place earns its Michelin star in the near future.

Tl;Dr Go here if you're looking for high quality sushi in an intimate setting in the $100-$150 price range.

This was the highlight of my meals in Vegas and thematically, happened by chance. Out of sorts and unable to get a reservation at a "nice" sushi place, we settled for anywhere we could sit down that wasn't AYCE. Taru was the closest, we called ahead, and they seated us. The venue is nice and clean - atmospheric, but rather empty for a Friday night. Lucky us, we had the sushi bar for ourselves. Our waiter was extremely attentive and had good advice, although admittedly was unequipped for giving advice on sushi. Still a damn good waiter.
Since I prefer Omakaze, rather than ordering 20 different orders of Nigiri, I asked our waiter if they offered something like this. They don't upfront, but after talking with our Chef from Kobe, he started making us sushi by hand, by request, as requested. We ate our fill of high quality sushi, scallops, uni, TORO, and didn't come where close to breaking our budget of $300/person. Did I mention they carry high quality imported sake as well? A real hidden gem.

They offer some more Western styles of sushi as well, rolls and the like, all made with quality ingredients and good dressings. You could definitely get a good meal for $50 here, but the menu is worth trying out.

Wow. I have high standards when it comes to sushi, and Taru completely blew me away. Incredible atmosphere, extremely diverse menu, and most importantly HIGH quality fish.

The smoked Otoro was by far the best toro I’ve had in my life, absolutely melted in your mouth. I’m also a huge Uni lover, so the Uni Pasta was a dish I had to try. Fettuccine noodles with a lobster emulsion, topped with fresh pieces of Uni. Couldn’t ask for more.

Overall such an amazing experience, the owner and all staff were so welcoming. We will absolutely be returning to Taru!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this hidden gem of a sushi bar, and I can't help but share my enthusiasm for this place. This has quickly become one of my favorite new restaurants. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a cozy yet chic atmosphere. The fact that this restaurant is new makes it even more special, as it feels like a well-kept secret waiting to be discovered.

Let's talk about the food... The sushi here is an absolute delight, with each piece boasting a freshness that's hard to come by. I had the privilege of trying their Smoked O-toro, and I must say, it was a culinary experience like no other. The presentation alone was stunning, as it arrived in a globe enveloped in hickory wood smoke. The rich flavors paired perfectly with the smoked soy sauce, leaving me craving more.

Speaking of variety, the Sashimi Salad deserves a special mention. It's a generous portion filled with an assortment of fish that's simply unbeatable for the price. The combination of flavors and textures makes it a true standout on the menu. I also highly recommend trying the Spicy Cauliflower--a unique twist that adds a delightful kick to the meal.

Now, let's talk about my personal favorite, the Chutoro roll. The combination of velvety chutoro and the expertly crafted roll that I won't soon forget. Each bite was absolute perfection.

In conclusion, this sushi bar is an absolute treasure waiting to be discovered. The warm hospitality (shoutout to our waiter John), exceptional food, and great prices make it a must-visit destination for sushi lovers. Place is pretty new, walked in on Monday at 8:45pm and the place was empty. Decided to walk in which host greeted with a warm welcome. I was delighted with the ambience and friendliness. The place had great potential just a bit off the main commercial areas. I ordered short ribs serve raw and you cook it on hot stones, it was something new for me, and good. The sushi at the counter was very nice. Love the ambience. Service was excellent, friendly sushi chef, manager, and waitress.

This review is long overdue! My apologies. John was our host two months ago, for my birthday celebration. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing! I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Las Vegas. My favorite was the Galbi, short rib 10/10! Their strawberry mochi dessert was the best!

My friend and I were craving sushi and found this place. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted and immediately sat. First we noticed was that it was very clean and and the food smelled amazing. We ordered nigiri first- extremely fresh and the quality was incredible. Some of the best I’ve ever had. We also ordered Uni pasta, special sushi roll, steak skewers, and hot sake. Everything we ate was was amazing and made with the freshest ingredients. Jon was extremely friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The prices were also extremely reasonable for the quality of food. I am absolutely going back every time I visit Vegas and 100% recommend to anybody who’s looking for an incredible meal.

WOW! This place is going to give all the AYCE places a little class on classy. Such a clean atmosphere, and the sashimi is hands down the best I've had in 5 years living in Vegas.

I had the Espresso Martini and it tasted like the smoothest chocolate milk I've ever had. I will definitely be back!

The food here was soooo good. Portion sizes are really generous. With the portion sizes I would expect it to be more expensive. I had the spicy tune crispy rice and this is a favorite food if mine. They did an amazing job with it here. The ratio between rice and topping was good and the rice wasn't over cooked. I also had the short rib cooked on a hot stone. The meat was tender and the marinade was excellent. The crunchy onion albacore sashimi was also very tasty. The onions were warm with the cool fish was a great combination. There was a generous amount of fish in the dish. And the slices tasted very smooth. I also ordered the mushroom pasta which I took most of home because my eyes were so much bigger than my stomach. But it tasted really good also. Everything was great and can't wait to come back.

BEST Sushi I’ve ever ate. Ask John for recommendations. Each item was EXCELLENT. Sashimi platter is a must, smoked Otoro is a can’t miss, skewers was broke the mouth, and ending it with the Uni pasta was a perfect ending.

Saw this place when stopping at the bank across the street and so happy we found it! Decided to make this our anniversary dinner spot and the service and food was incredible. John’s service was 10/10 and he recommended awesome things from the menu. Must try the miso pasta and skewers! Presentation of food is also 10/10, you can tell how much care these chefs put into their food. Atmosphere was perfect. Will definitely be recommending to everyone! Can’t wait to go back!

Service, food and atmosphere was excellent.

Cuts for sushi were generous, but they also are handled well and tasted amazing.

The special of smoked ootoro (fatty tuna) was very decadent; the smoked flavor was present both in the fish and the soy sauce, but definitely was not overwhelming. With the option of the pickled wasabi, you can definitely play around with the flavors.

We ordered the hot stone dish as well. Definitely a fun way to eat food. 👍 Doesn't hurt that the meat was tender and delicious.

Overall, the place was a gem, 5/5 would go again.

Our family of four went to dinner tonight, and we absolutely enjoyed it. The selection of food was amazing and so fresh. We had edamame, gyoza, sake steamed clams, tempura udon, spicy seafood ramen, fire in the hole sushi rolls, Mr. Hamachi sashimi, and some yummy crispy fried cookie ice cream. Wow…so delicious and filling! Besides the food, the ambience was great, and our server, John, was very accommodating , nice, friendly, and upbeat. We are definitely coming back to eat at Taru again. Unknowingly popped in for some New Year sushi at this brand new spot and we were blown away! The freshness and quality of the fish is on point. Many rolls as well as traditional classics are well above average. We recommend nigiri as the best way to experience the quality.
