At Saketome it is our humble attempt to offer highest quality dining experience on all levels; culinary, service and ambiance in Missoula and Bigfork Montana. While remaining reverent to the ocean and its inhabitants. We originated as a sushi restaurant, but have grown to include a wide array of culinary treats that a non-sushi eater can enjoy with an onus on Asian flavors, which also includes vegetarian and vegan options.
When you visit us, you’ll experience fresh, innovative Asian fusion cuisine crafted from the highest quality seafood, meat and produce available. You’ll love our extensive selection of Asian dishes and drinks, and you’ll be amazed by the passionate and personalized service you receive from our staff.
Love the decor, and long bar (especially if you’re a singleton). Great seating for couples and groups too. Delicious and beautiful drinks. Some of the best sushi this side of the Rocky Mountains. Found my new favorite roll, “Massive Attack.” Totally had a Ratatouille moment when I bit into this roll. Thanks to my server Ilsa for the great recommendation.

Sooo good! They have options for everybody (including but not limited to, N/A, Mocktail, non-caffeinated and vegetarian/ vegan options)You can also ask for customisations on the rolls. I personally got the "long haired hippie" and added cream cheese to it. Which is pictured below.
They have really good seating for families, couples, individuals and bar seating. The decor is gorgeous and the chairs are so comfy! The chair I sat in had no arm rests which I appreciated because I have wide hips and thighs. I also appreciated the reusable metal chopsticks opposed to wooden.
Overall: the food is really good, the place is elegant, the service is nice and I LOVE the inclusivity in this establishments menu for people's diet.

Ordered the Zootown Revelry and Drago’s Breath. Both were very high quality and I really enjoyed the creative in ingredients. Out of the two, my favorite was the Zootown Revelry. The cashews inside was a nice addition and the seared scallops on top was so delicious.

I was surprised how good the sushi was here, considering we were in Missoula, MT. The menu has great options and some of their sushi rolls were very inventive. My wife and I were really pleased with the service and food. I'll eat here again the next time I'm in Missoula.

Saketome has delicious sushi and excellent service. The atmosphere is quite fun. Be sure to get there early or be prepared to wait for a table. Our server forgot one of our rolls. She did her best to make up for the mistake. Quite a few of the rolls are spicy so if that's not your thing be prepared to ask for modifications.

Delicious food, amazing atmosphere, and incredible service! This place is amazing. We made reservations online since we were coming from out of town. We were amazed with the interior and atmosphere - so beautiful and welcoming! The menu is through a QR code at the tables, they do have actual menus if you ask. We ordered tempura (veggies and shrimp), otoro sashimi, Drago's breath roll, and gyudon. Everything came out in "courses" which we love. Best sushi I have had in MT! The drinks were amazing as well.
This is definitely a "family style" experience. I would probably not recommend going here if you want individual dishes each. Sharing is the best!!
The service from our waitress was beyond incredible. She was so kind, attentive, and even fixed our table and made great recommendations to us. We will definitely be back!

Was craving Japanese and Saketome did not disappoint! The portions are generous and the quality was phenomenal (which was pleasantly surprising). Highly recommend the sishito peppers and the short rib dish (the rice/egg yolk mixture is divine). The sashimi was excellent as well. The atmosphere is perfect for a date or a catch up with friends. Glad to see a top notch Japanese offering in Missoula. Well done!

I’ve had sushi from coast to coast in the U.S., and this spot doesn’t quite meet expectations. First, the rolls here are smaller than average, yet priced a bit higher. Second, the restaurant puts its own twist on sushi by incorporating ingredients like wagyu and goat cheese. Usually wagyu is served in the nigiri style with a bigger and simpler portion of meat and rice. When added to a small sushi roll it loses its effect. Personally, I’ve never seen goat cheese on sushi before, and it felt less like traditional sushi and more like a charcuterie board. I won’t be ordering goat cheese on sushi again. I’ll likely return to try something more traditional. On a positive note, the service is great; the staff is attentive and friendly, although most seem new and couldn’t share much about the beautiful decor and installations. The atmosphere is stylish and inviting, a blend of seductive and classy that gives it a unique Asian-American fusion vibe.

I’d have to say it’s the worst sushi I’ve ever had . The whole place has a weird vibe and the gentleman behind the sushi bar have zero personality and are rude at best. Definitely don’t waste your time here.

I’m a huge fan of Michi Ramen which sits just below Saketome and figured I’d switch it up and give it a try.
I sat alone at the bar and ordered the chicken Karaage and a crunchy Cali roll, alongside a virgin cocktail. Both were perfectly made, most notably the Bao bun with the Karaage.
The overall vibe of the facility is super upbeat and welcoming and definitely not too pricy for a first date, night out with the girls, or a solo dinner.
General manager was super kind and the bartender was laid back too.
I’m so glad I stopped in!

Came in and sat at the bar. I was a little scared at first because a lot of the rolls seemed pretty complicated. The flavors all worked perfectly together. Try any of the goat cheese rolls. They're delicious. Our sushi chef was Austin, and he had the best recommendations. Service was great, and the food came out quickly even though they were busy. The cocktails were good too. Everything is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. All around great place. I will be back

I got a noodle.Bowl service was horrible.People kept talking and goofing Off They were more interested in talking and gossiping Then serving their customers. service was super slow and the food was terrible. The meat was like chewing on a Rubber tire.
The noodles were Slimy and rubbery The mushrooms tasted old. The Broth had no flavor
I've eaten all over the country. I've eaten at thousands of noodle places. Never had a meal like this before, I was very disappointed in the food. This was one of the worst places I've ever eaten would not return or recommend

While others are busy discovering new ways to make a buck serving food, SakeTome is preoccupied with sharing their craft and passion. You can taste the care in every bite, feel the passion in the environment and experience the pride in the service.
I thought about sharing why someone should eat sushi here…but instead, I’ll just ask…Why would you eat sushi anywhere else?
Thank you to the service, chefs and owners for surpassing expectations and providing a sensational experience.

If you are wanting just a plain old California roll or spicy tuna roll, this place probably isn’t for you. This is definitely a more upscale sushi place that thinks outside the box for ingredients. The prices are higher and the rolls are unique. That said, the sushi is high quality and we’ve never been disappointed. The spicy edamame is a must. Our favorite rolls are the Les Halles and the Bigfork Bomb. The Under the Bonsai gin drink is really refreshing too! This place does get busy but it’s worth the wait.

For Missoula, this is a pretty great sushi place. The rolls are not traditional by any means, but they are innovative with fun and surprising flavors. It's definitely a special occasion kind of place since it is a little pricey. But I definitely trust their fish!

I came here for my 1st time on a date and we ordered 3 Sushi Rolls, and 4 orders of Sashimi which came out to 20 pieces of raw fish. The food was excellent and my total only came out to $80. I was visiting from Washington State on vacation and believe it not, this was the BEST food I had while staying in Montana. Service was sexy, atmosphere was sexy, everything was sexy. I will for sure without a doubt be back a 2nd time. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience and excellent service. <3

Atmosphere is eclectic. Nigiri was fishy. Clearly white owned and ran. Disappointed, but we got sushi in Montana so we did this to ourselves
Visited 2 years ago
Our server was awesome, and I really do dig the atmosphere, but the sashimi was a little fishy and the sushi rolls were mostly bland with the flavors that did come through being a bit odd. Their sushi menu seems to have some bold ingredient combinations that unfortunately don’t really work well together. This was a disappointing meal.

My sister made a reservation for 14 of us. Service started out good. When we got our food all the rolls were not plated according to who ordered them. The kitchen refused to replate them so instead we had to replate them ourselves. You can imagine the chaos of passing over 20+ sushi rolls back and forth, over two different tables so everyone had the right food. That was frustrating but not a deal breaker. I agreed to pay the tab and have my family venmo me so the server wouldn’t have to split the check. I was not informed that there was a 20 percent mandatory gratuity, and it was not posted on the cc receipt. So I accidentally tipped 43 percent (over $200). I realized this after getting home and dividing up the cost. I called asking to get a refund of the extra tip since the server did not inform me, the manager was rude and said she’d call me back. She didn’t. I called again and left a voicemail and heard nothing back.
I’ve worked as a server for years and I always inform guests of automatic gratuity and double check they didn’t make a mistake when they double tip. Thanks for ripping me off.

We went to grab drinks and food. We sat at the bar. They weren't busy--many open tables. There were two people behind the bar working. They were drying glasses right in front of us. No eye contact. No greeting. We sat there for several minutes and didn't receive a menu or acknowledgement. We were excited to try this place but we didn't feel welcome. I understand places are short staffed but that didn't seem to be the issue tonight. Very disappointed.

Quality of sushi quite low. Pieces are tiny, like mini-sushi. Octopus was quite inedible and the eel not adequately cooked. On top of the food issue was the attitude of the servers/staff who took offense that I would dare to reject the Rainbow Roll they made without the usual colorful range of fish or avocado.

Ambiance was swanky, food was ehh. Sashimi sampler was small in portion size--tuna was overly fishy. Gyoza was drenched in mayonnaise, and the two rolls (only two without fruit in them) lacked flavor. Waitress was great.

Was really excited to try the sushi, as the ramen downstairs was very good. Ordered bunch of rolls, all smelt and tasted fishy and not fresh. Didn't eat 1/4 of what was ordered, and they only took off 1 roll from the check. Server acted like it was my fault, as if I hadn't had sushi before. Well I haven't had sushi this bad before. We never got a chance to try to the sushi because we left before it ever showed up correctly. We showed up the day before and the wait was an hour plus. We made reservations for the next day, and then planned our day around it. At 6:45 (our reservation time) they sat us and did nothing, no drink orders no water nothing for 15 to 20 minutes, and then came over and discussed menu options with us. We ordered drinks, my husband ordered the chicken Bao for his meal since he doesn’t like sushi. He got his meal out in 10 minutes when our drinks showed up, even though we ordered it as his meal with my roll. I made one substitute to my roll, adding eel sauce and removing the apple relish, and when it finally showed up at 7:45 after my husband had finished his food 15 minutes earlier it came out incorrectly (no eel sauce) and when I asked for the correction the server (not our dedicated waitress) gave me attitude and brought back the roll with 3 drops of eel sauce on it. At that point the table next to us that was seated 15-20 minutes after us received their 3 rolls at least 10-15 minutes before us. Keep in mind this place has no options for ‘classic’ rolls, and had a hugely pretentious vibe that will drive me elsewhere. I will never come back here.

Saketome is the premier sushi place in Missoula for sure. While often considered "American" sushi, rolls such as the ones served here are absolutely delicious, with braised and seared fish as well as raw abounding and drinks that are simple but have flair. I love to come here on a night out with my girlfriend, joking around about the huge Bill Murray wall art and kisses under the cherry blossom tree where we had one of our first dates.
On this night we had four drinks, pinkies up, cardamom sweater, fuschia forever, and the sneaky Lee. All were good, but I REALLY liked the cardamom sweater, which had just the right contrast of the whiskey with lemon and sweetness. For rolls we had the Zootown Revelry, the Massive Attack (one of our favorites because it is filling and fried), and one other I can't remember. The Zootown revelry has a cashew paste that is amazing and gives a crunch I really like on sushi.
This is a great place to take someone for a night out, and the music is amazing as well as the vibe. Saketome one more time! 😇😁

We loved almost everything, surprisingly the cali rolls were not great or good in my opinion. I was expecting them to be amazing since the other rolls were so good, but the cali rolls were dry and bland(not sure how?). Regardless, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The other rolls were Amazing, and it so pleasant to eat. The flavors were great and not overpowering. The service was great and the vibe was good too.

AMAZING!!! Great sushi! Great service! Our waitress Christina was perfect! She went through the menu with us and helped us pick sushi based on our personal preferences. Everyone was kind and there was not once that we felt ignored! One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a long time! All the food was fresh and they do not skimp on portions! If you are super hungry once you arrive order appetizers since the sushi takes a little bit of time to prepare. Some other reviews about the food taking too long is ridiculous to me! GOOD FOOD TAKES TIME TO PREPARE! If you don’t have patience for a talented chef to prepare an amazing meal for you then go to McDonald’s and stop complaining! Thank you again Saketome and Christina for making us feel so welcomed!

A bit pricey but wouldn't do a simple to go order. Tried to make us dine in like they think it is worthy of a fine dining categorization. Been eating here for years slowly watching the slow degradation of both service and food quality, both upstairs and down, especially noticeable when this owner started concentrating on his new upscale location. After a long time patron is refused a simple order to go at dinner, when hungry, with no understanding, he’s probably going to make Kobe the new go to for Zoo town sushi.

The service was horrible. They lost our order and it took over an hour to get our initial sushi. Moreover, three rolls were left off the initial order and it took another forty more minutes to get those three rolls even though we were told repeatedly that 'they would be up shortly'. The food was okay, but considering the price it should be better than just okay. We received no apology from any management and no one seemed at all concerned that it took us nearly two hours and half hours to finish a simple meal (just sushi--nothing cooked). All and all, simply pathetic; avoid this place and go somewhere where they care.
Visited 4 years ago
The sushi is really good. It looks good, tastes good, etc. Atmosphere is hip for downtown Missoula.
The service isn't. Wait staff very casual. Literally just having a chat with the tender while we wait for them to take our order (waited 15 minutes to place an order when it wasn't even busy).
Folks behind the sushi bar crushing beers left and right. I'm not against drinking, but this is highly unprofessional. The guys literally crouched down to consume their apparently "hidden" on-the-job drinking (you're working directly in front of me). Also handling some food with bare hands. Not a good scene even with many community members vaccinated.
The sushi rolls are very good. Very pricey, but I'd say in terms of taste, presentation, and amount, you get what you pay for (perhaps a bit pricey). In terms of service, absolutely not. If the service was even halfway decent, I'd give this at least 4 stars.

Our waitress dropped half of our app on the floor while delivering it to the table. She stated she would get us another and charged us for both. This was reported to management, who did nothing to make our experience better and we ended up paying for both. Our sushi was poorly made and fell apart on the plate. Beautiful location, Terrible staff all around.

We ordered the Otoro (tuna), Sake (salmon) & Anago (Eel) nigiri sushi. We also had the following rolls - Clockwork Orange, Drago's Breath, Zisou's Nemesis & one of the daily special rools. All were fantastic. Each was very flavorful and fresh.
Service was great and very knowledgeable on the various menu items. I was very surprised & impressed by this place.

Love, loved this place. Happened to give it a try on Mother’s Day. Slipped us in with no reservation. Our waitress was very cool & helpful. We asked for recommendations, hers were spot on. We started with a flight of Sake, new tastes for my recently turned 21 yr. old daughter. She eventually chose her favorite to accompany our sashimi. We had the Maguro, Hamanchi & the delectable Toro. Two different riceless rolls & a the special of the evening (all raw rolls)
Amazing presentation, freshness & flavors- My mouth is watering as I write this 2 weeks later. Primo offerings for Missoula Montana.

Went for a birthday dinner. The food was amazing and won’t break the bank. It had an amazing atmosphere and you can watch all the food being made in front of you. The waitstaff was attentive and all wore masks.

Went here last Saturday and was really pleased with everything. Good cocktails, great nigiri, and the staff are all very pro, but still capable of having a good time while at work. We'll definitely be back again for more sushi!

Been coming here for a few years, and honestly it just gets better each time. Wonderful atmosphere, fantastic menu and great spirits and wine selection. Thanks to Nicole, Taya and all the crew for a wonderful April evening out on the patio. The sashimi was indescribable 😌 12/10

Excellent food! I would recommend it for anyone who loves sushi. Fresh ingredients.

I like that the flavors are different from the other places we have here, it is very good. Just a suggestion on the to go, a way to keep the rolls separated in the container would be nice. Some of the sauces don't cross over to the other rolls well and delivery drivers do their best but that doesn't keep them apart.

Food was okay, the place itself is beautiful. However, it took our server three asks to get a bill. It was over thirty five minutes before she finally brought the bill. Would not recommend. (Obviously, I was cranky and did not edit the original post. I hope it makes more sense now.)

Our experience was just ok. The staff was attentive and friendly. Beer and drinks were over priced, rolls were on the smaller side and pretty good but not amazing. Music was way too loud and terrible. A “hip” place perhaps trying too hard and a little off putting as the end result of a dining experience. Food and prices didn’t meet what the restaurants overall “vibe” was aiming for. Suggestions- bigger more abundant rolls, lower price for food items usually freely given in sushi restaurants (such as miso and edamame). Local beers not on tap are marked up way too much- lower them. Turn down the bad electronic music.

One of the best sushi places I have been to. If this was in LA or NYC, it would be at least 25-30 dollars per sushi roll...that's how awesome it is. Lot's of variety for Sushi and drinks, staff is super friendly, place is clean and food is fresh and delicious. Highly recommend visiting if you are in the area and want quality food. Vegetarian friendly

Best sushi and nigiri in town...🍣 so mucho gasto & fresh variety (try the Dragon's Breath)
And the sake is so delish... Also best in town🍶 Friendly staff, restaurant decore is part of the experience... Love the huge fish on the wall🐠
There's also meat dishes in case you're not feeling fishy... Try the Spare ribs 🍖🍳🍚 and the pork/shrimp dumplings🍤
Lastly... They play the best EDM music🎶

The food is exquisite as well as the decor, but the music is so outrageously loud that it totally destroys what could be a 5 star dining experience. It’s not hip to deafen the customers. It’s so loud that you leave feeling jangled and stressed out.

The prices of the sushi seems fair at first but upon ordering sushi to go, it was super fishy, smelled not fresh and really tiny pieces. I probably should’ve known since they didn’t do really any fresh rolls (just the chopped up spicy fish) that their sashimi wouldn’t be top notch. We did the sashimi platter to go, it said it would come with dikon radish and it was just a couple of green scallions and carrot flakes on the side. I’ll post the pictures I tried to take to show how small the sashimi pieces were but this was definitely not $50 worth of sushi. Where we usually order back home in the middle of the desert, we can order $56 of sushi and be stuffed. Here, thankfully we also ordered a second time from Biga pizza (check them out, they’re amazing, like some of the best pizza of your life amazing) so we were only disappointed for the few short minutes it took to eat the fishy sashimi. Maybe the dine in experience is better, but I wouldn’t recommend take out. Also we had ordered Toro and Salmon sashimi in addition to the sashimi platter and we mostly got more salmon and thinly sliced (also fishy) scallops. The Toro was the worst we’ve had. Sadly it was really smelly and tiny and the smell just took away from the texture. Hopefully this was just a one off for them.

I have been living in Missoula for just over a month now and I LOVE this place. Midnight In Paris is a must. Great decor, hip music, and just right down amazing.
Last night we had the best of the best service, can’t remember her name, short brunette with vintage grasshopper earrings. Never rushed us, great recommendations, the service was 6 out of 5!
Looking forward to my next experience here!!!

Sushi is good, but we have to knock off at least one star because we put in a delivery order of 5 rolls (over $75 worth of sushi) and they only gave us one itty bitty little condiment serving of soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi. Usually you get a serving of each for each roll, so pretty disappointing to drop all that money on 5 rolls and get screwed out of the little things. Not so bad when it happens in the restaurant and can ask the server for more, but a real bummer when you have it delivered and can't do anything about it.

Food is fantastic, service is great, and atmosphere is cool and unique.
Went for a date night and had a feast of small plates and sushi. All of it was delicious. Only real complaint is the menu didn't have a Chirashi option which is one of my fiance's favorites, and considering the quality of the fish here would've been one of the all time greats. Otherwise the sushi was awesome. Definitely recommend trying the Montana wagyu if you're adventurous.
Favorite dish by far was the grilled collar, fiance's favorite was the New Style Scallop. I'd recommend the New Style Scallop, but I won't recommend the collar for the purely selfish reason it's a limited availability item and I don't want folks going in and ordering it in case it's not there next time I go in.

The rolls were out of this world. Pretty large and intricate, but they don’t fall apart when you dip them in soy sauce. Stop thinking about it, if you’re reading the reviews, you’ve already made up your mind that you want sushi. Saketome won’t disappoint!
