I thoroughly enjoyed the tempura udon soup. I have often eaten soups where the flavor is lacking. Not here! The savory quality is top notch with vegetables precisely cooked to be done, yet crisp.
My co-worker stated that the Pad Thai was hp with the best he had is quite a long time.
While the atmosphere was not highly stylized, it avoids the overdone exaggerated look making it appreciated. The staff is friendly and prompt.

Returned for Beef fried rice, same quality as previous visit.

I really was hoping that this place would be good. It’s okay, not great. The sashimi plate had imitation crab which was the most bizarre thing I’ve had. The sashimi wasn’t the best quality either which made feel weird about the rolls. The rolls were good but it is pricey. 2 of us spent 80 which seems very excessive for montana prices.

The staff was nice, they are hiring and seemed super busy. They were very kind though.

This used to be a go to restaurant for me and my family, the sushi was good and the employees were attentive and friendly. Ever since new ownership this restaurant has gone down hill, service is less than ideal and the wait times are horrible. Last order I waited 40 minutes for my food even though there was only 3 customers in the lobby and I saw no take out orders being bagged or prepared, when I inquired about our 2 sushi rolls the man at the counter was quite rude telling us they were busy. My order today for 1 roll was expected to take 1 hour to prepare. The previous owners took care of their restaurant and customers, I wish I could say the same about the new owners.

The Drunken fried rice or the Japanese fried rice are excellent! Seriously have a hard time choosing between the two almost every time especially with all you can eat sushi on the menu as well. I always tell myself I want to try something different for the dozen times we have gone but when you know something is great it’s hard to stay away from. Only complaint with all you can eat is the time limit of one hour fifteen minutes, give us an extra fifteen minutes, promise we won’t waste any. Prices are fair especially because you don’t leave hungry unlike other places in town. The only downside to dining here for me personally is the lack of sound proofing. To me it feels like others can easily hear my conversation as I can hear theirs. Obviously this isn’t the case when the restaurant is at its peak hours but when the rush has died down and it’s only you and a few other patrons it’s a little awkward for me personally. I like a more intimate atmosphere or semi private setting for myself and who I’m dining with to fully engage with them. But nonetheless the food is great the staff is awesome and welcoming and I recommend this place ten times over. I can eat those rice dishes everyday. Thank you Aaron and team for a regular go to spot that has great offerings!

I was greeted by the most friendly and wonderful server named Michael and he took the greatest care of me as a customer all servers should! He gave me 10 percent off for my first time getting take out from Suki and made my first time experience 1000 times better than I could've imagined, thank you do much Michael! :)

Finally we found a place for really good Thai food in Montana! I had the phad Thai because that's the litmus test in Thai food for quality and it was delicious! I'll be trying the massaman curry next time and see if it is as good as the phad Thai. Food was brought out quickly and the staff was very friendly. We got lucky and it wasn't too busy on Saturday night. The atmosphere was pleasant except for the people who bring kids to restaurants that can't sit still and stay at their table. That's not the restaurant's fault, that's a parenting issue. We will definitely be coming back regularly to try all of our favorite dishes. Our only regret is that we didn't try it sooner but we were intimidated by the lack of parking downtown. Luckily, there is a parking garage right next door.

***Update!! We continue to return here for our date nights and haven't had a bad experience yet! The food is always good, the plum wine is a must have and the service is constantly good. They did improve the seating arrangements by changing out stools for chairs which I think is a good choice 🥰

Visited this sushi spot recently and it was pretty good. The place had a nice, simple vibe and the staff were friendly. Sushi was fresh and tasty. They had a good selection of other meals but I only had sushi. Service was quick and efficient. Overall, a solid choice but wasn't 🤯.

The food here was delicious and came out very quickly despite the restaurant being busy. I'm a picky eater, and the suggestion given by staff was perfect and had me leaving Suki satisfied. The staff's positive, polite, and attentive attitude is what really stood out. Obviously they take pride in what they do.

Great Lil Cafe! Mike Holland has done a superb job with food, atmosphere and a friendly staff. Prices are more than fair for the great portions. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a meal with great taste, great service and accommodations. Keep up the great work!

My daughter and I are from Pennsylvania, and my daughter is starting a new job out in Montana. It was the last night of my stay, so we decided to go to Suki Cafe for some sushi. Five stars all the way! Super delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. An extremely welcoming staff as well. We got the drunken fried rice and double spicy tuna roll, and both were very good. Miso soup was also fantastic!!

The staff were fantastic, so this review is only about the food. My husband ordered red curry with beef and I ordered the Thai basil dish with chicken. I was expecting fresh Thai basil in my dish since it was the title of the dish. No fresh basil at all. I confirmed (after I received my meal) that in fact, they use dried basil. My dish didn’t have a hint of basil in the taste. It was definitely much better than my husband’s meal. The red curry was watery and tasted like they put some chili powder in a can of coconut milk and just served it like that. No substance or authentic Thai flavor at all. And the beef??? I wouldn’t have fed it to my dog. Seriously. It was the worst tasting beef I’ve ever put in my mouth. My husband wouldn’t let me send it back, or I would have. Needless to say, he ate the “curry” with the few veggies and his rice. We left the beef for the trash; where it belonged in the first place. Sorry Suki Cafe, we won’t be returning.

If you're looking for Thai food, then this place might scratch the itch, but it's not really Thai. They use dried Italian basil and every "Thai" dish I've tried has no fish sauce, lime, or any fresh herbs. It's like weird generic Asian food that honestly isn't worth the price.
Honestly you're better off just buying South East Asian ingredients online and making food at home.
In 2024 there is no excuse to not be informed about the cuisine you're making.

These people don’t know how to prepare sushi. They also aren’t very knowledgeable on what types of sushi there are. We asked for a couple fried rolls my sister was pregnant at the time and they served them raw. Even the waitress said they serve it tempera and or flash baked. The server took our order and still served her cold sushi. I eat cold and raw but she would not. Ruined our dinner. How do you not offer tempera rolls or flash baked? Very disappointed. It’s like no body researches this stuff before opening a restaurant.. they’re just like “let’s wing it” haha. There is no good sushi in Helena. I suggest looking up sushi restaurants in other states in more popular cities and just educate yourself on the variety of rolls.

First off the Sushi is EPIC, and the Unagi Nigiri is off the charts. Their staff was amazingly friendly and knowledgeable, and the prices are totally affordable. This was our first time eating at Suki Café and I believe we have found our new home for SUSHI.

Some person who was sleeping on a bench in the restaurant said "what does the door say".

The sushi was ok, but not as good as we usually find in other cities. In particular, our nigiri had barely any unagi and the rice wasn't right. Our roll, which should have had a drizzle of eel sauce, was doused in a diluted sauce which quickly made the roll soggy. Service was pretty good. The music choices were odd with alternating pop and country tunes being played loudly.

I just tried the "best sushi" in every major city of Montana, and Suki Cafe might have just topped them all. The food was fantastic! But my experience was highlighted by the amazing, friendly staff. The servers were all genuine and helpful. They coordinated seamlessly with each other and the rest of the team to ensure that each meal was delivered efficiently. This was all helmed by the amazing manager, Eric, who went out of his way to ensure that I had a unique and memorable customer experience. Thank you again, Eric! Sushi is a hard thing to master, especially in a landlocked state 1,300 miles from the Pacific Ocean. As a sushi lover, I decided to take advantage of a month-long work trip that would carry me across the state from Sidney to Missoula. I stopped in every major city along the way to see which city has the best sushi. I've tried the best that Billings, Bozeman, Missoula, Great Falls, and now Helena have to offer. Bozeman put up an amazing offer with the great dishes at Dave's Sushi downtown, and I thought they were going to take the cake, but my experience at Suki Cafe, with their delicious food and phenomenal service, stole the show.

Asked for fried rice. Nope they don’t do that as a side dish. Asked for a second beer. Nope, they forgot to put more in the cooler. Found hair in both dishes we ordered. Server was doing the best she could. Seemed like cooks and management were off base.

The first time we went here, we actually left without eating. Wevwere sat at a table, and after 45 minutes without a menu or server, we left. This time, we sat at a booth ordered sodas and thought so far so good. A different server took our order and was amazing. Brought our food, and that was the last we saw of him. Food was...ok. Maybe they do not do refills? Went home to get a drink after as we were thirsty. We basically sat and waited and waited. Someone else brought the check. We continued waiting. Someone else took the check, and we were finally free to leave. Will not give go again.

Food was great, and the atmosphere was semi-private. Our server did not bring our drink refill order, nor did she status us to see if we were okay throughout our stay. We had to remind her about our 2nd round drinks, which were finally served after 30 minutes. She may have been new, so only one star was docked. The atmosphere was docked only because of the small booth seating.

Sadly, after 10+ years, I will not eat at Suki Cafe again after my recent terrible experience. I ordered the all-you-can-eat sushi dinner and placed my first order. But when I went to place my second order, the server told me the sushi bar was closed. The server had not given me any warning or done a "last call" for sushi. When I pointed out that I had ordered "all you can eat," the server told me, in essence, that I was out of luck, they now closed at 8:30, and the staff wanted to be out of there by 9:00. Another server aggressively told my partner and me that "most customers" look to Google for a restaurant's hours and the new 8:30 closing time is posted there (even though the Suki Cafe website itself, which is where I had looked, still says 9:00). They reluctantly agreed to re-open the sushi bar to make me four additional pieces of nigiri, but they made it clear they were doing me a favor (rather than simply doing the right thing). The manager, to her credit, came over and apologized for her employees' horrible customer service. But the entire incident left a bad taste in my mouth. As for our meals, the chicken teriyaki was mediocre and cold. I thought the salmon nigiri and the Dynamite roll were pretty good, and the rest of the sushi was so-so. I was told this evening that the restaurant had recently been purchased by a new owner, but that things would stay the same. In my opinion, however, the attitudes of some of the staff and the way they treat their customers have gone way downhill.

Extremely average sushi. It was really not that great. The California had a straight up krab stick in it. The single combo that was supposed to come with 3 pieces of sashimi came with 3 pieces of seared tuna - it looked like leftovers. My husband's beef fried rice was really, really average. The rice was clumped together and the beef was dry and tough. The fish lacked color and was clearly thawed from frozen. My stomach hurt after. Service was good, and the place is cute. I would skip the sushi and just get Thai.

Wow! Excellent food. We went with a group of 5 and 3 of us took the unfinished portions to go for the next day's lunch. There was one little mixup on one order and they made it right immediately. My wife and I shared the lemon grass pork and and ordered of phad Thai. Super tasty! We look forward to going back on our next trip to Helena!

Came here on my first day in Helena. I loved the drunken fried rice with red Thai curry. I ordered both with a level 5 spice and they were delicious!!!! The service is so prompt and thoughtful here. I love the place, the food, the people, been here twice in a week. Will be back for sure.

I'm hoping to find out that this was a really unlucky off-night. But all I can go on is my experience tonight:

Started with miso soup. I thought the flavor/temp was great except my wife and I each got one piece of seaweed was exactly like that slimy/rotting texture and taste that you get from pieces of lettuce in a box of spring mix that's way past its sell-by (the only way I can think to explain it).

Next we had california rolls. Rice was overly soft/sticky and in a very thick layer compared to the internal components. I love rice as much as the next guy but it was out of balance and the flavor was just disappointing.

Next we ordered a tuna roll and rainbow roll. Tuna roll came unexpectedly as uramaki, with the rice on the outside like a california roll, and with cucumber in it. I would have expected only tuna (and rice of course) and with the nori wrapping the outside but perhaps this is just the style the chef prefers. Rainbow roll had a really 'off' flavor and texture. My wife described it as overly fishy in a bad way, and all we could think was it did not feel fresh. And again the rice was overly soft and a super thick layer.

Neither of us wanted to eat the last two rolls. I think it might have been obvious that we were dissatisfied but I thought it would be easier to just thank our server for the meal and hurry to pay and leave. A man (owner, manager?) came over with the check and said bluntly "Why are you leaving?". I regret not sharing with him our experience, in case it would have been helpful to know that something wasn't right, but at the time I just got a vibe that it wasn't gonna be a 'oh thank you for letting me know about this!' kinda thing, so I just answered 'sorry we have to go'.

Our server was so amazing. The location is so great. The interior decorations were awesome. The exterior seating area looked very nice. I just wish our experience (which again, to reiterate, could have been just a horribly unlucky off-night) would have been better.

The sushi here is acceptable. That said, picking something that includes a tempura component is a mistake. It was probably fried a day or two ago, refrigerated, and then put into the role. There’s nothing worse than fried fish served cold.

One of the best restaurants we have visited on our three week Roadtrip across the country.

The Panang Curry with Shrimp was the best I can remember. Our wait staff was exceptional. We had several serving our table and the recommendations they provided were right on.

For the price (not expensive) it would be a place we would visit weekly if we lived in the area.

We were traveling thru on a trip across the country. The reason for mentioning this is we wished we lived here so we could come at least once a week. The food was perfectly prepared, the service was outstanding and the value was better than expected. The Panang Curry with shrimp was one of the best dishes I have had on the road, and we have eaten out every day for more than 3 weeks across 13 states so far.

Again, if you are a resident you are very lucky, if you have not visited this truly exceptional restaurant your may be missing the best meal ever.

I had been to this cafe years ago to try the Thai basil frog legs, which were a super fun experience, but this was my first trip back in years. The host was so professional and friendly, even though I had a wait, I didn't mind. It was very busy, (found out later it was prom night). I sat at a lovely little table next to the window.
The wait time in between seeing waitress, ordering, and getting the food and check was relatively prolonged, but again, I will blame it on the night, not the establishment. The waitress did an excellent job, and I overheard her interactions with other tables around me, and thought she did really well all around.
I ordered a Thai tea that was perfect... neither brewed so long it was bitter nor so sweet my teeth hurt. It was creamy, smooth, and refreshing. I also ordered the gyoza as an appetizer, and they, too, were excellent. I ordered a tiger and dragon roll. They were visually appealing, filling, and a delight to the taste buds!
I will not be waiting years to return this time! 😁

1st time there and will definitely be back. Sushi and pad Thai was exceptional. Ordered take out , fast service. Owner is quite a gentleman, welcomed me like a old friend and left with the feeling of appreciation and friendship. So glad to discover a place that truly accommodates its customers. So not the best place to bring small kids--no kids menu! But definitely one of the top places to go in Helena! Sushi is on point every time and I have loved everything else I have tried. May be a bit adventurous for the kids. But they are always happily surprised, as are we, by what new things they try.

Ordered take out. Not only did the kind lady recognize me from my last visit when I had taken myself on a date, just me myself and I, but she also gave me a bit of miso soup! The staff are always so friendly and kind! Suki cafe is beyond my favorite sushi restaurant in town. It is my favorite restaurant period. The rice of the sushi is soft, the meat delicate, and the eel sauce delicious! My favorite pad Thai I've ever had too. Although I've only just realized they do all you can eat sushi, will have to do that next time!

#1 sushi place in Helena. Reasonable prices, high quality food and great service. They offer a variety of dishes.
I love sushi, my favorite is unagi and I've had all over the States and in Europe. Honestly it may be the best Unagi I've had.
I had miso soup (amazing) a sushi roll and Uangi. I thought I wouldn't be full but the sushi was was so filling. They use quality ingredients.
I ordered takeout and they were friendly, on time and everything was just perfect! I’ve been here now servals times and they are just fantastic.
I plan to come back and sit down. This would be the perfect spot for a celebration or a date night.

Very friendly staff and comfortable, spacious dining room. In addition to sushi, there are a number of classic Thai and Japanese street food options to choose from - the Thai basil stir fry was quite good: heartily seasoned with black pepper as well as chilies!

I'll be honest, I've never eating here, but in my deliveries, I go there quite often. So the amount of times that I've been there, I've been able to take in the atmosphere and the courteous pleasantries of the wait staff. Also, in saying this about the amount of times I've been there, it speaks volumes for the amount of people who also love to have the food from here. I plan on dining here soon and if I'm able, I will give an update as to how the food tastes.

Suki Cafe starts you out with attentive friendly service. Then they bring miso soup and tea, or wine if we ordered that. We like to order the age-dashi (deep fried tofu in a light sauce with lots of green onions.) Sometimes we split the tempura dinner or get a sushi roll. That's always plenty for us to eat. They are generous with the wine pours and have a decent selection of beers. It's an inexpensive date night for us. ❤️ Yay Suki Sushi!

Tasty, affordable food unlike anywhere else in Helena. Staff was courteous, timely, and on their A-game 100%. The food could have been horrible, and I'd go back entirely for the great service alone.

Highly recommend the drunken noodles with beef! The sushi is fantastic as well.

The only complaint I could possibly state, and it is even a reach when looking for something to build on, is that the sodas tasted a bit off.

10/10 absolutely recommend this place. It's the kind of joint you'd tell folks is horrible so no one goes, and you can have it entirely to your selfish self. 😍🤩

Very hit or miss on dishes & quality. Ordered Spicy Thai Basil with beef and was first brought out a seafood version of it - after being brought out the beef version, I was shocked to see a plate of over 80% onions. No basil either. I asked both servers if this was how they made Spicy Thai Basil and both said yes - I asked where the basil was and was told that they only have dried basil from a jar. A picture is worth a thousand words - here's a pic of my plate after I ate the 6 small pieces of beef that I found hiding in the plate of onions and the 6 small pieces of bell pepper. Ironically, the first plate with the seafood had a normal proportion of onions to other veggies and looked appetizing, so I'm not sure if they maybe just gave me a plate of onions because I mentioned that I hadn't ordered the first plate? I guess I'll never know, since I'm never going back.

Sought it out for the Tom Yum soup and it did not disappoint. Loved it. I love spicy and asked for the hottest. It lit me up. Great. Fried Calamari and sushi also good. But don't miss the soup. Fast service great downtown atmosphere.

A really sad excuse for sushi. Worst sushi I've had in my entire life (including grocery store sushi). Fish was old and smelled/tasted gross. If I wasn't ravenous I wouldn't have been able to eat it at all. Everything also had way too much rice, the ratios were super off. And as soon as I finished my meal I started to get sharp stabbing pains in my stomach, and I have a stomach of steel that never gets irritated by anything. $70 plus tip down the drain.

Service was really good and very nice but even that's not enough to bring this up beyond the one star.
