Removed the chicken spring rolls from the menu …what a disappointment. Then I ordered lobster spring rolls ~ 5 min later they came back with we out of …what a disappointment. Then the rice came out all over the place vs the bowl effect. Pretty upset at this point…..I’m at the Westport location~ I wonder if central west end is any better. This use to by my favorite spot but not anymore going into the new year.

Fish quality is okay. Service was super slow and not too attentive. My friend said her fried rice wasn’t great, but that the rolls were good. The deluxe sashimi platter was good quantity and could be a good meal for someone. Maybe ordering 1 additional roll would help.

I called to speak with someone about a reservation I'd made several days ago for our anniversary tonight and the hostess hangs up on me in the middle of me talking. We aren't familiar with the plaza and wanted to let them know we were still going to make it, just trying to find the restaurant. We walk in only a couple minutes after she hangs up and they're just standing around and one of them looks at me for a while after I tell another worker my name for the reservation, so I assumed this is the girl who hung up on me. The service was fine inside, luckily we were not being waited on by her. We will never dine here again, we'll be sticking with the other location who has been great to us in the past.

I love Drunken Fish. They have good food, good drinks, good ambiance (usually). This location just doesn't do it. A friend and I met for dinner here at 4:15 on a Thursday late afternoon/early evening. At the time, there were only 2 couples eating in the restaurant and no workers in site. Finally, after waiting at the door like an awkward bunch of teenagers, a gentleman in a maroon dress up shirt came out to give us the menu and sat us at a table. From there, about 5 minutes later our waiter came out to order our drinks and appetizers and serve our waters.
Overall, the experience was less than ideal. The food is overpriced for the portions.
It is inside a mall, so if that helps anything; expect the food court feel.

We enjoyed our time at Drunken Fish very much. Great service, friendly staff and a reasonable cost.
We had chicken fried rice, chicken stir fry and spicy salmon roll, all were tasty and prepared well.
The cold beer sure looked good, but alas not in my eating habits at this time.

Absolutely the worst restaurant experience I have had in the last 20 years. 75% of what we tried to order was not available, so our drink order was not even turned in, the “fresh” Tuna sashimi was horribly out dated, and the majority of desserts were unavailable. Seat covers were peeling off and table tops were wore out. Add in that out meal took about 2 hours and you get the perfect storm of a horrible dining experience. Honestly, just a pathetic overall experience.

The staff at this location seemed extremely over worked and not happy when customers walk in.Me and Husband visited the resturant around 9pm on a Saturday night been that it states that the resturant closed at 11pm we assumed that we would be okay to be served. We waitied at a table 15 minutes before we were even knowledged. 20 mintues before we recieved water. An additional 30 min before we could even order food. All while waiting patiently seeing 5-6 staff members walk pass our table not once did someone knowledge us. Once we final get our servers attention he expressed that he was tired of getting tables all day. Seem personal to us we just there for Sushi. We had ask for water refills condiments etc every single time. Overall the food was exceptional not the best we have enjoyed there. However the greeting and the service was TERRIBLE oh and by the way even the restaurant and menus was dirty. Drunken Fish please do better.

The staff were very friendly and the place has a cozy vibe. The food was just okay, bit overpriced for the quality.
However, the whole experience was ruined by the manager. He brought employees over to the only section of the restaurant where people were eating so that he could admonish them for the tables not being “sharp enough”. It was gross and completely unnecessary considering there was an entirely empty back half of the restaurant where he could have given that “lesson”. Seems to me the manager could use a few lessons of his own in etiquette and proper leadership.

Just felt ignored like I was bothering the bartender for being there. Manager asked if I could use another beer because it had been empty almost the entire time I had my food. I said yes the bartender handed me a check instead so I just paid and left. Food was alright but inconsistent flavors and inconsistent size slicing with ever slice of sushi.

This place has gone so downhill. The table was sticky grimy dirty, lots of crumbs in the cracks, they were out of many things such as hot tea and Japanese beer, every sushi roll was a California roll but they pretended they were different types, the servers were harried. Desperately shrinking menu. An embarrassing experience for all involved. Westport is a vacuous vortex of smoke and mirrors, an assault to the senses, so loud and tasteless. Loud techno music in the restaurant, screaming loud Christmas music in the outdoors plaza on Nov 1.

We went at lunch time, noon and it was like 3 tables with customers. Service was slow, so we asked for our bill when they brought out food. Then put us all on 1 ticket. I like u can scan and pay on ur phone but only options are to pay it all or split it evenly. Place was clean, but it's empty. Food was ok, not good like it use to be. Was glad they had my dessert, but for lunch not going back unless someone else paying. Fried cheesesteak roll was $18 and the dessert roll was like $12.50. The Starburst roll is good too, $18.75

The atmosphere is OK. Google maps dose not do a good job in finding this location and was sending us out the way. We found this location by a fluke. They need more bigger or brighter advertisement so you know it’s inside the mall because Google maps will have you walking in circles trying to find this location. As far as the atmosphere goes it’s ok. Noticed that the seats looked a bit torn up so this location is due for some remodeling. Our server was nice, but she forgot to pick up the check for our table so we were waiting there for 20 minutes and when she didn’t come back to pick up the money, we gave the check to the bartender. It was not busy either. Last night I ordered the largest plate of sashimi at $45. After one hour of eating the sashimi I got really sick and was vomiting and had diarrhea for hours. It was my birthday so that was a major bummer. Be aware when you eat raw fish that you do take a risk of developing some kind of food borne illness.

There are only three vegan options. The menu did not did not specify that the asparagus in the Vegan Hulk was battered and deep-fried, but it was. When we complained to the manager, he said it was listed that way on the menu, but it was not. We even double-checked the menu after he walked away. Now, as you can see by their response to my review, none of them know what's on the menu vs. how the food is actually prepared. Be sure to ask before ordering since it appears the decision comes down to who's in the kitchen.

The food and service were good. I had sushi and wings, and I would definitely order those things again. However, the setup is kind of quirky because it is in this mall space. Maybe if you sit towards the back, it might give better vibes.

This place has consistently gone down hill. We have come here multiple times each year for many years and it is just getting worse and worse.
This will be our last visit until we see the reviews increase. We just finished lunch.
Our waiters pants are down around the bottom of his butt.
Plus, his body order was astounding and over bearing. I literally almost gagged when he brought our check and started to clear our plates. It was too much.
The waiter did his best and we all could tell his best wasn't up to par of the value this restaurant wants to convey.
This is a perfect example of companies who stopped training for quality.
The food is going downhill as well... for the price. Subpar products. Albeit food presentation still looks good.
Our hope is this place, in a great area, will recover its former glory.
As of now, I wouldn't recommend being a patron based on our past 4 visits, this year alone, that have shown consistent downhill quality.

Went here for a friend's birthday and the experience wasn't the best. Everyone on our tables drink and food orders had issues and the service matched that. We did discuss this with the manager and while I respect his attempt to correct it (including discounting the bill), he ended up being rather loud and harsh, causing everyone to be uncomfortable. All of this combined with the long wait to get served while seated likely means I will not be back

So, I just want to say that the waitstaff here was extremely overworked and they provided the best service they could. Highlight to Brandon who at least tried to provide us a dining experience.
We elected to sit at the bar because there would be a 30 minute wait otherwise. Cool, I’ll just have beer and she will have a drink. It took 25 minutes from sitting down to finally see our drinks on the back of the bar. Another 7 minutes to get them and they didn’t even finish making the mixed drink. I get it, they added the alcohol and the fruit purée, but it still has like 3 more ingredients that tie the drink together.
All the beer here is in cans or bottles and go ahead and don’t get the stuff that you think most people don’t order, it’s going to be old and expired.
We ordered two rolls, a chicken/rice entree, and drinks. One roll was good! I mean, it was grocery store roll good. The other roll was hard in a weird way in the edges - cool, we just ate the inner sections.
The chicken dish was supposed to have egg (actually extra egg per Brandon’s recommendation) and it had none. It also lacked anything other than rice. Like, maybe a veggie or something to add some color? Maybe an onion?
The entrees come with salad and soup. I was finished with my entree when I was finally able to ask if we could have the salad and soup. The soup and salad were both better than the other items.
The atmosphere shows signs that this was once the place to be and that time has taken its toll. The place is crazy dark and there was some sort of wartime movie going on over the bar. Not asking for rugby or curling, but it seemed odd.
The problem with this experience is that the cost is still the same as though it’s an over joint. We paid roughly $86 for our dinner and both agreed that it was fun in an awful sense, but we would have been better hitting up sushi from one of the better buffets in town.
I’m including this photo of the strawberries. This was the joke of the night, some of those were rotten and had colors that folks should not get.
TLDR: If you are a boomer or someone of a generation where your parents lament on the merits of the plaza, sureee go here or somewhere else. If you actually want good food and a service you feel good about paying for - head elsewhere.
This is sad because I remember when the founder was featured in magazines and had passion for creating this experience. I understand he’s all about a newer Korean joint, but this is just like watching Willie Nelson play music at 91. You know it is supposed to be good, but it’s almost over.

Most disorganized place I have ever seen. Place was dead but waited a whole hour to get food. Had to wait outside because the sign said “wait to be seated” but nobody came. I probably spent 2 hours total waiting to get seated, waiting to order, and waiting for the check. I saw several other people wander to the door and not get seated… seems like the establishment is more interested in catering to their online orders than dine in customers. Food wasn’t bad…. But for $85? I won’t be returning here. Actually surprised how many take out orders were being served at these prices as the presentation wasn’t what I expected.

When entering the server shouts from across the restaurant asking how many in your party. The quality and taste of the sushi is not good and a bit pricey for what you get. $37 for 2 rolls and a salad.

I feel like the end is near. Went on a Tuesday night. The place was relatively dead. Still a decent amount of staff present. We waited for drinks, waited for food (I mean waaaaiiiiitttted). Most of the time our server was in the back and we had to flag down someone else. I don't think we even received a refill of water that night. Hard to get soda refills, let alone a real drink. It was for my daughter's birthday and we planned on having cake there, but we ended up just taking it back home because we were ready to leave. Food was okay, but not quite the same as it used it be.

I will never be ordering from this place again. I placed an online order for pickup. I ordered calamari, shrimp, and seafood Soba. I was displeased to find out that the calamari was imitation meat and not real squid. I called the restaurant and I told them I wasn't happy with the calamari and I would like a refund. The guy that answered the phone told me he couldn't issue a refund because I placed an online order...and that I would have to reach out to them for a refund. That is bizarre because I purchased the food from them. You all cooked my food what does that have anything to do with me placing an online order?? If this is how your company treat their customers, I won't be returning! I would like a refund based on the fact that I thought I was getting actual calamari and not imitation. I was going to order from Bristol which I know for sure their calamari is real but they were closing so I decided to give this restaurant a try because I heard good things about it. However, that has changed.

This was the worst experience I’ve had at a sushi place. Walking in, the place was dirty and tables scratched up and old. The air smelled like dirty dishwater and possibly urine. The sushi was NOT fresh, and I mean that I’ve had better sushi at Hokkaido buffet that I could tell was better quality. It had no flavor, was warm, and left my stomach feeling somewhat ill and heavy as opposed to refreshed and light. The lobster roll was nothing special. It had no strong flavor of anything. The only good thing we had was the Mr. Miyagi drink, and the dipping sauce for the lobster roll was good. 1/10, will never be going back.

I ordered through Door Dash around 5pm during the week. I spent over $100 and the food arrived at my door half cooked/ my fried rice was white/ the vegetables in the Udon was raw/ who can eat raw onions? Well I contacted management and they did nothing/ they offered me nothing because I didn’t take a picture. Well by the time the food got to my door I was hungry so I threw the raw food in a skillet and made it edible. Here’s the thing I order from them all of the time and this undercooked food thing has happened twice. As a returning customer you would think that they would offer some empathy but they didn’t. So therefore they will no longer get my hard earned money. There’s other places that know how to cook their food thoroughly.

If you enjoy actual sushi of good quality and not just bland dry rice wrapped around a scant amount of questionable looking seafood, do yourself a favor and skip this stop. This is the Geriatric hospital oatmeal version of sushi. You can get better sushi at a grocery store and that is really saying something. Also the water tastes mildewy

Wow! What a difference a few years makes! Our server was sweet but the FOOD WAS TERRIBLE! My husband and I were so excited to visit our old stomping grounds but now I just need this terrible taste out of my mouth. The manager took a couple rolls off but we ended up with a nasty to go order And a hungry stomach. Ugh! The manager kept demanding us for am answer as to why the rolls where so gross! On the spot we struggled to find the right answers but we have thought it out. First of all this is a cultural food that was not represented by its culture the kitchen! This could be why the fish tasted refrigerated and day old. The cut of the fish was sloppy. The wasabi didn't taste like it represented all the other wasabi I have ever had, no horseradish flavor at all. YUK! If your looking for good sushi in STL #KAMPAI is where you go!

Visited just following lunch at around 1:30 ish PM. Very few people dining in (two). I ordered an edamame appetizer and the menu item SASHIMI WITH A KICK (special “kick” spicy sauce). All items suited me. My only drawback to the experience was that the sashimi (two pieces) were really well refrigerated and affected my sensitive teeth. I will eat here again because I do follow MUNSOK SO.

The service here was terrible, an older blonde woman served us and another server came up halfway through saying that they share tables? I’ve never heard of this before in a service industry but for having 2 servers you would think the service would be amazing but it was anything but that. After she served our drinks she didn’t ask us if we were ready to order we had stop her from walking away just to put in our appetizers. After we received the appetizers from her she didn’t take our order and after we were done eating the appetizers we had to hunt down another server to take our order and that’s when she said they share tables? If that’s the case then somebody should have came up by then to at least take our order. Keep in mind there was only 5 tables sat in that restaurant along with 3 serves on, I would understand if they were fully booked but at that point you must be lazy to just not even care enough to come back and take our order. The first server was very off Standish and kinda rude, the second server was nicer I will give her the benefit of the doubt but coming from someone that works in the service industry I expected a lot better for what they charge at this place. It took her 3 times for me to ask her for a to go box just to receive it and then she also messed up our bill and had to come back and ask what it was again 3 more times. Honestly food was decent at best but I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone for the service and quality for the price, but the one in central west end is way better.

Very disappointed with service. We went to this a place on evening of February 5 because our favourite sushi place was closed. We were waiting about 10 minutes to be seated even though there were only 4 tables occupied. I would understand if they had lots of ppl but they weren’t busy at all. They didn’t offer us menu and water for another 20 minutes till I asked them to bring it. It looked like they just ignored us. And it took them another 20 minutes to take our order. Waitress was with negative attitude, couldn’t suggest drinks or meals. Food was ok, but with service like this it was our first and last visit. If you want to appeal to more people, consider training your employees how to do their job.

I saw it was busy and understaffed when we got there, so I expected to wait a bit to be seated, and that was fine, however the wait was very excessive, maybe around 20 minutes of waiting outside of the place.
We (myself and three others) were finally seated and the host (who I guess was the GM) brought us water, but then no waitstaff came to get our drink orders or even acknowledged us for almost 30 minutes. I made eye contact with one of the waitresses three or four times as she bussed tables and refilled drinks of other parties, hoping she would say something or tell a coworker about our table. I'm not the type to get up and leave if things aren't going quickly, but I was about to.
Finally a waitress came up to us, acknowledged that no one had waited on us, and apologized. She took our orders and got our food out to us in a timely manner. She was very funny and I enjoyed talking to her when she came by. I wish I would've caught her name. Me and my group were from out of town and this place seemed like a cool place with a cool atmosphere to chill out at after a long drive, but we would've probably been more content getting a burger from a drive-thru and taking it back to the hotel. I don't know if Drunken Fish is always like that but I probably won't go back next time I'm in St. Louis.

This place must be going down hill. Sushi was not good. $18.00 rolls with imitation ingredients. The rice was dried out which added a crunch that you usually don’t experience with sushi. The veggie fried rice - no veggie other that onion and carrots. ($18.00)

My family (party of three) and I attempted to eat dinner here this evening. However, the individual (African American woman with Mohawk styled hair) that was supposed to seat us seemed extremely inconvienced by our presence. She snatched the menus, approached me and my family and said "how many" in the rudest tone possible. Unfortunately l, we didn't stay to dine. To make make matters worst, before driving there I called ahead and asked if they could accommodate a party of three at 7:45 pm and was told "Come in, we're not busy". Honestly, to be treated like we're not wanted in an establishment we are trying to patronage is disheartening, especially being that we went out of our way to drive here due to there not being a location near our home. Hopefully, she "the hostess" will realize body language/non verbals speak louder than words.

Why spent 75$ on food and you can’t even remember to bring it to me
Let’s add in it was only 1 other person eating there, so they weren’t busy and 3 servers

Had a great experience! I would say it was slightly expensive for what it was but it was good food and service.

My friend was not happy with chicken noodles, and the other friend was not happy with chicken fried rice, $16.75 for 7 wingettes, $12.75 for 8 sushi bites (fried). The waiter was a little too long coming to take order, almost $32 for 2 small appetizers

My sushi looked like it was the first time this chef rolled it and it lacked flavor. Teriyaki dish was good but not great. The meal was disappointing and I expected better.

They changed the portions on the menu. For the price it is not worth it. You will leave still hungry & disappointed. Not what it use to be.

I took my daughter to dinner and we were seated fairly quickly and our server was nice too. We had the lobster spring roll with the honey wasabi and it was glorious! We also had miso and seaweed salad along with two rolls that were delicious especially the white tiger roll.
For a cocktail I had the lady butterfly which was fruity but not overly sweet.
My only discrepancy was how long it took for our rolls to come out.
Otherwise it was a great experience.

To be fair, I only ordered two rolls. Both the unagi (eel) and tuna & avocado were about 90% rice. I needed glasses to see the tiny spec of eel/tuna, and neither was fresh.
On the positive side, the bar tender was nice, and they have Karin Itchiban beer.
I will not be back.

It ALWAYS takes an extremely long time for the host to greet and seat you. They'll literally walk past you a bunch of times before even acknowledging you. It's not a good look.

Good food. Sashimi portions very small.

Good food and would eat there again. The waitress did not pay attention to her customers though. Us and several other tables ended up having the bartender or manager provide service.

I ordered the tempura entre, which was supposed to come with a salad and miso soup. They brought out a big plate of fried food, and I had to ask for everything else. I would've liked the salad and miso before my food came out. The tempura was way too salty. The salad dressing was oddly textured. My daughter's mango roll was just ok. I think the server was covering the entire place. She was doing a good job for the task, but they need help. Way overpriced for the quality of food.

Not impressed with sushi. Even the California Rolls just seemed off.

First impressions, are a lasting impression. Understaffed and impatient when trying to decided order. Been here less than five minutes and want to leave because of the impatient waitress. Will update when the food later. Update, food was good and service improved. Again I believe they are unstaffed. Over good experience never the less

It's been years since I been by the Drunken Fish in Westport. Stopped by for dinner tonight. The service was good. The food not so much. Let's talk about the good: Japanese chicken wings. The gyoza was average at best, not even crispy. The sauce lacked flavor, tasted mostly like salt. The rolls I had: eel and cucumber, superman, and Fried Philly. The Fried Philly was the best one out of three. Also, got the Teriyaki chicken dinner. Wow! This is the worst item of the evening. Terrible teriyaki sauce and the chicken breast was sooo dry. Definitely don't recommend getting that. Overall, I would say for the price, you're better off going to Crazy Sushi in St Peter or Oishi in Chesterfield.

I have been dining here several years. The size of their Nigiri has gotten literally half the size they used to be and the price has gone up. I complained and the manager, who’s “S”s whistle, and she told me to go elsewhere if I want bigger pieces. I will never go there again. RUN FOREST RUN!!!

Just left and was extremely underwhelmed. I thought going earlier would ensure great service. Nope. There was only one other party there we were the 2nd guests of the day. The waitress we started with must have been the bartender or something. We saw her twice through the entire meal. My daughter spilled a bit of water and instead of offering napkins she kept asking for our appetizer and drink order. I asked 3 times for napkins for her to just stand there and continue to ask for the drink orders. Guests that came in 15 minutes after us got their drinks appetizers and food before we received our food. We had 4 rolls. Very easy rolls and it took forever to get them. The Drunken Fish server didn't do well today. At all.

This is a nice location for either a small intimate dinner or a larger get together. The food is all good as is the service. My only gripe is that the food quality is not equal to the price. I would not say their miso soup or sushi was a cut above my local sushi restaurant, but they price as if they are.

We visited Drunken Fish for our friend's birthday. George made the evening extra special. He created a cocktail for the birthday girl and was extremely attentive and personable.
Our food was delicious (wings, lobster roll, fried rice, and sushi rolls) and though we visited many times, George's attentive service made this evening extra special!

Walk in on a Friday night by myself, restaurant is less than half full and two people are seated at the bar. Hostess says: we aren’t currently seating people at the bar and it’s a 45 minute wait. Me: really, for one person?
Yes, for one person…45 minute wait with two people at the bar and the restaurant not even close to being full. Something is off, here. I won’t be back.

Drunken Fish never disappoints. Hubby got the steak fried rice, sesame winga and the lobster sprung rolls which were his favorite. I got the shrimp fried rice and it was very good and plentiful. Sad I didn't get any pics. But food was great and service was efficient

Great food, quiet location, awesome service. Only downside was that it was difficult to navigate the Westport Plaza Campus to locate the restaurant.

Starburst roll was amazing! Calamari was creative (thick) and delicious!

Stir fry udon noodles entree were slimy and difficult to eat with chop sticks. For some reason, the noodles were chopped and not whole, which added to the difficulty in eating this entree. I had two rolls that appeared to come from a fast food stop. I didn't see the standard sushi kitchen, so no sushi chefs to be seen. If I'm incorrect, please correct.
The service was good and the beer was cold.

We visit this location on a regular basis because we always enjoy the experience but, today was exceptional! Our server, Nina, and the manager on duty (didn't get her name) made our visit that much better! The level of service is what most people hope for and deserve. The food and drinks were equally good. They should be recognized for their professionalism, kindness, knowledge, and thoroughness! Thanks for caring... it shows!

I love love love this place we had reservations for the Central West and location but they were close so we ended up going to this location and when I say 10 out of 10 would recommend and go again and again my server, Ashlee(sorry if it’s misspelled) was amazing and the manager, George OnPoint customer service super awesome!!!!! I was planning a surprise dinner and they helped make it become wonderful and they even do something special for me that I asked him to do that they usually don’t do I’m not gonna tell you cause I don’t want y’all going to ask them to do it. Lol but I greatly appreciate the staff at this location.not to mention food was amazing I’m thinking of getting take out today and I was just there yesterday 😅😅🤗

Visited 2 years ago
First off no complaints with the sushi it was great kudos to the kitchen staff! The rice was not that great! However the fact that we sat and waited for 15 mins before someone even came and took our drink order, mind you we were the only other table at the time. Then the manager was going around asking everyone how they were doing as long as they were in business attire. Actions such as these will cause customers to not return and we will not! To the manager please treat everyone as if they're just as important as the rest of the other ones you approached. 3/28/2023

A little too expensive. My server was great, but the place itself was difficult to find if you're new to the area (I'm from St. Louis) low-lighting, clean bathrooms, serving was quick. Not sure I'd go again.

We stumbled into the Westport mall and are so glad we did because we had the most enjoyable time talking to Mason, their new bartender, and George the manager. The menu has so much to choose from, it was hard to decide, but we opted for the fried rice with lots of veggies and white breast of chicken and one of their signature rolls. I think the highlight was talking to Mason about our favorite sushi restaurants in St. Louis which took us down memory lane to Sansui in the Central West End with their large sushi boats. Tonight could not have been more enjoyable for a rainy Thursday evening. I highly recommend.

The food was great, but the service lacked that night. We were checked on once, it took 20 minutes for the check, and the tea that was ordered never came, but at least it was voided. I had to ask the host twice to be served on.
I messaged the restaurant, but didn't get a response. The other location is great, this one, not so much.

We had a Sunday evening group of 24; a restaurants nightmare. Our group trickled in over about 30 minutes after arriving 15 minutes late. In spite of this, George and the rest of the team were very gracious. They were patient and accommodating. They worked diligently to provide us with top level service throughout the experience. The food was excellent as well. Well prepared, not hurried (even with a flood of sushi orders hitting all at once) and carefully executed. We had a great time and will be back again.

AVOID. This place has gone wayyyyy downhill. All of their locations have gotten fairly downhill, but this is the worst location. Water had a strong earthy taste, wonder what's in it. Stir fry was disgusting and that's a damn basic dish. Chicken was tastless and chewy. Salmon salad had 0.1% salmon and 99.9% rice. Ridiculously overpriced! Menu is smaller than before. Wait staff is great but the hosts and hostesses were terrible.
