Absolutely delicious! Was able to ask for a very minor modification (just leaving something out of a roll), and they didn't make me feel at all like 'that guy'. Everything was phenomenal. Service was fast and very friendly. Had the steamed crab appetizer thingy, and I wasn't able to take a picture because we devoured it too fast. The inside is very cool with a lot to look at. Highly recommended!

Blue Sushi: A Reliable Favorite
Blue Sushi is a consistent choice for a delicious meal. The atmosphere is always lively, the service is attentive, and the sushi is top-notch. I've tried a variety of rolls, and I'm always impressed by the creativity and flavor combinations.
The Spicy Tuna Crunch is a personal favorite, but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The cocktails are also quite impressive.
While it can be a bit pricey, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience make it worth it. If you're looking for a great sushi spot in the Power & Light District, Blue Sushi is a must-try.

I’ve actually been here quite a few times now and that really speaks to how much I love it. Every time I come here it is an absolutely amazing experience. They are very good about being accommodating especially with allergies and diet restrictions. They have an extensive selection of vegetarian rolls which I feel is very unique to the restaurant. The service is always quick and accurate. As for today, I had Samantha as my server and she was incredibly helpful. She was consistently providing refills and checking in to make sure we were doing alright. She also gave a great recommendation for the aburi sake toro. In terms of my favorite rolls I would have to go for the spider roll and the crunchy LA. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for some good sushi and I ESPECIALLY recommend going for happy hour.

The sushi here is excellent! Definitely try the Brussels sprouts and fried ice cream as well. Service was good. One complaint, the music is so loud you needed to yell to have a conversation. Not opposed to music, but it would be nice to hear my dinner partner. 🙂

We went for lunch on a Saturday and we were seated fast. Ordered drinks but they took a while. Had many rolls from the Sushi Bar and OMG they were great. Had to ask for one Roll that didn’t come out. But they brought it pretty quick after asking for it. Very great atmosphere! Parking can be hard if you can’t park on the street pay by Park KC.

A nice sushi bar in downtown Kansas City. We ordered the calamares, several sushi rolls, and the miso soup. Everything was above average in quality, the soup was especially flavorful. The service was friendly, but a bit slow. We liked the decoration and the restaurant is well located downtown. There was a great selection of vegan sushi rolls. I’ve had better sushi, but overall a good choice.

Really good sushi restaurant in the heart of downtown. The fish was fresh and the flavors were plentiful. The decor really ties the place together and makes it feel like an experience. The cherry bomb nigiri was my favorite. I like sushi places that experiment with flavors and this restaurant did it well. They have two bars, one is a sushi bar and the other is a full bar with a bartender. I will definitely be back on my next visit to Kansas City.

I’ve been here a few times and every time I say I wish I would’ve went to the other. The food isn’t consistent and seems like they don’t follow the same recipe as the other. I only get vegan sushi and it’s never amazing. The last time I went to send my crunchy cabbage roll back because the cabbage was soggy. The spicy edamame was overly seasoned and the service wasn’t up to par. Parking downtown also sucks, especially in the snow.

First time visit, a blizzard birthday treat for my wife and myself! The service was excellent to start with, then I mentioned I have a mild shellfish allergy. Sure, no shrimp or lobster for me, but following that disclosure the manager herself came out just to clarify and make certain every item we ordered would be safe for me. I know my allergy and I'm careful, but the explicit attention paid was definitely a cut above.
Came in around 2pm, so we got to splurge on the happy hour menu, and splurge we did. The calamari definitely stood out. Fresh crispy batter, and the sweet potatos and green beans they fry up in the same batter almost steal the show!
The classic Philadelphia role is one of my general metrics for a sushi place and this delivered. Good balance and the cucumber was so crispy and fresh. The mushroom roll was surprisingly delicious.
The showstoppers though... the Cherry Bomb nigiri. THE CHERRY BOMB NIGIRI. My word, my heavens, my what have you, this is the thing to get. I have many other things to sample from the menu but this alone will bring me back. I would have cancelled the rest of my order and filled up on this alone.
Finished with the fried ice cream. Was taken aback when we were delivered a tempura fried cannonball. Definitely sharable. Definitely delicious. Definitely good for 4 but it's good enough that 2 can finish it. I would know.
Get the Cherry Bomb.
I love me some good sushi so well done, I'll be back sooner rather than later. 😋

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Blue Sushi Sake Grill
We absolutely loved our experience at Blue Sushi Sake Grill! This was our second visit, and both times have been nothing short of magical. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, everything exceeded our expectations.
Shelby was a ray of sunshine throughout our meal—friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. Jan was equally amazing, making sure every detail of our experience was perfect. It’s clear the staff takes great pride in making every guest feel welcome and cared for.
One of the highlights of Blue Sushi is their extensive vegan menu! They have so many creative and delicious plant-based options, which makes it a fantastic spot for everyone. Our favorite dishes so far are the Prince Roll and the Cowgirl Roll—both are absolute must-tries! The flavors were fresh, unique, and perfectly balanced.
We also loved the charming tea mugs—they added such a cozy, personal touch to the meal. It’s little details like this that make Blue Sushi feel so special.
If you’re looking for a sushi spot with incredible food, great service, and plenty of vegan-friendly options, Blue Sushi Sake Grill is the place to go. We’ll definitely be back!

My wife and I popped into Blue Sushi Sake Grill for lunch before going to a show. Upon arriving at the restaurant we received a warm and friendly greeting, we didn’t have reservations, but were seated right away. Our server Raul greeted us in a timely fashion. Even though Raul was busy he took the time to guide us through the menu and make recommendations. Raul and the other staff members saw to it that we were served our food and sakes quickly, but we were not ever rushed. Jan Johnson, the manager on duty had come by our table a couple of times checking on us and interacted with us on our departure. We truly felt welcomed at Blue Sushi Sake Grill.

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding an incident of racial profiling that occurred at your restaurant on October 26, 2024. My friend and I had been wanting to try the new Blue Sushi Sake Grill. My friend is a big sushi fan and was very excited to try this restaurant. What started as an exciting anticipation quickly turned to feeling unwelcome, harassment and disrespectful.
On October 26, 2024, I witnessed discriminatory treatment by the manager of Blue Sushi Sake Grill, Justin. My friend and I pulled up to the Power and Light district. Traffic was very heavy so I told my friend I would park the car and she could wait by the entrance. It took me roughly 15 minutes to park the car and meet her. We go inside where we are greeted by a young lady. She told us there would be a 30 minute wait. My friend provided her phone number and we were added to the wait list. I ask her if we could sit at the bar. She said yes. We walked to the bar. My friend said she needed to use the restroom. The restroom was clearly right around the corner. I said, there it is. She preceeded that way. She then was approach by a gentleman who said this area is for staff and you have to walk around, despite the restroom being less then 4 steps as to where she was standing. My friend said I'm sorry but I really have to go and continue to the restroom. She came back to the bar and we was then approached by Justin. Justin approached us and said he needed to speak to us regarding the bathroom incident. My friend said yes I told your employee I really needed to go. He said yes I understand but that does not give reason for you to put your hands on the employee. My friend and I was both astonish at these accusations. My friend begin to state she did not put hands on anyone and can they pull the camera footage. Justin said there was no camera footage but several witnesses that said they saw her push him. We ask to bring the employee out and he said no for his safety. By this time my friend and I was extremely upset. We could not believe we was being lied on like this. After continuing to accused my friend, Justin finally said he would go back and speak to his employee. He left and came back within 3 minutes and stated, "I'm sorry he used the wrong words. He said you walk past not push and that is my fault, im sorry, can I buy you a drink". We could not believe what had just happen. My friend was falsely accused at this establishment.
This is not acceptable on any level. My friend character was question on this night. A person who is very very successful. It burdens me to see more reviews posted regarding discrimination from Justin. Please note I have sent more reviews regarding this incident as well as a letter Flagstaff, the owner of the Blue Sushi Sake Grill. This situation was hurtful, embarrassing. To be accused in front of the entire restaurant is very very unacceptable. I hope this review will bring insight to a much needed action that needs to take place at this establishment.

On Saturday 10/26/24 at approx. 8pm I entered Blue Sushi Sake Grill in the power and light district located at 101 E 14TH St, Kansas City, MO 64106. Upon entering the host advised my friend and I that we could take 2 empty seats that were located at the far east end of the bar. Prior to sitting down I looked around frantically for the restroom and to my left I saw a sign that I thought said “restroom”. I never sat down but proceeded to a short hallway which was maybe 3ft from where I had been standing. As I started to enter the hallway a man who I assume was an employee said “you need to walk around the restaurant to the other side this is the staff area”. By this time I am already into the area as I never really stopped moving toward the restroom sign. I said to the employee “Oh My God, move PLEASE, I REALLY HAVE TO GO”!
As I hastily entered into the bathroom (maybe it was 10 steps forward) I held my legs together and also my hand down in front of me in an effort to make it into the bathroom without an embarrassing incident. After I finished up in the restroom, I exited and exited to the left which was considered the correct way to exit based on what the employee told me. I walked around the restaurant and back to my chair at the bar where I sat down and began to get ready to order; or so I thought.
A tall, slender white male who spoke in an effeminate tone approached me from the front and stated “we need to talk about this bathroom incident”! To this I replied “oh my gosh, yes, I’m sorry but I really had to go”. In my mind he was speaking about me entering the restroom from the north side of the bar versus the south side of the restaurant.
The manager proceeds to state that “you entered into our staff area and you hit and moved my staff”. At this moment my heart started to race as I was totally confused and very embarrassed. I immediately advised him that I had not hit or touched anyone and had no idea what he was talking about. He proceeded to accuse me and I continued to vehemently deny the accusations; I asked him repeatedly if there were cameras so that he could review footage. I asked could he go get the employee because surely there was a misunderstanding and to this the manager, who we now know is Justin (last name withheld when we asked for him info), replied “No, and there were several people that witnessed this and FOR HIS SAFETY”….. I started to shake and tears came to my eyes, my hearing felt like it started to fade and I could hear my own heart beating in my ears…I said to Justin many more times “I NEVER HIT ANYONE”’! Justin continued to accuse me and even went on to try to scold me saying” YOU DON’T PUT YOUR HANDS ON PEOPLE! YOU DON’T MOVE ANYONE OUT OF THE WAY”! Again, I said, “I never touched anyone in this place nor even got close to anyone”.
Suddenly Justin stated he was going to go speak to the employee.
Justin reappears and said “OH MY GOSH IM SO SORRY! MY EMPLOYEE USED THE WRONG WORDS AND YOU DID NOT ACTUALLY TOUCH HIM. THIS IS TOTALLY ON ME…OH MY GOSH WOULD YOU LIKE A DRINK”!?
I was very loudly, disrespectfully, wrongfully accused of hitting a staff member, which I believe was NOT a misunderstanding, by Justin!! I want to clarify that I value the safety and well-being of all employees and customers, and I would never engage in any form of violence or harassment.
In addition to the wrongful accusation, I felt I was subjected to racial profiling during this incident. I believe that the assumptions made were based on my race, rather than an objective assessment of the situation which was NOT done. This experience has caused me significant distress and discomfort, not only as a patron but as a member of our community. At the time, as I sat and looked around in pure shock, I could see that my friend and I had been the only black patrons and now the only one being burned at the stake. I am spreading my story and experience so that others know not to ever patronize!

Charged a 4% packing fee for takeout and never mentioned it. Portion size to price was very far off base. Looking at others pictures, I think I got ripped off. My $15 order of a cooked sushi dish was literally not even 3 inches by 1 inch in size served in aluminum foil. The restaurant is pretty on the inside and outside, but finding parking was annoying. Thanks, but no thanks.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this location over the weekend. My friend, my son, and I came for lunch and presented a business card given to us previously by one of the managers as compensation for a missing sushi roll during a prior visit. We gave the card to our waitress before ordering, but when it came time to pay, another manager, Justin, came out and informed us that we couldn’t use the card.
Justin claimed that the card could only be used when the manager who gave it to us was working, but made no effort to explain how we would know when that manager was on duty. His attitude was rude and dismissive, implying without saying it directly that we had somehow gotten the card from downstairs and were trying to use it as a free coupon. When we asked him to contact the manager who gave us the card, he claimed to have done so and said that the manager didn’t recall.
This entire interaction felt like discrimination, and I have never been spoken down to like this by a restaurant manager. It was humiliating and incredibly frustrating. Later, we were able to reach out to the original manager, who did, in fact, remember us and the situation from our previous visit.
Justin’s behavior was unprofessional, and it seemed like he only provided decent customer service to people he wanted to. I will be notifying corporate about this horrible experience.
The reason for 1 star is because the manager Jan, insisted on us coming back for a positive experience. But after that, I’m not sure I would ever come back & Justin does not deserve to have the title that he does.
I am experienced in the customer service industry for over 14 years and NEVER will I talk down to anyone as a customer, manager, employee, etc

People sat next to me on both sides are/were so friendly to me! I started with truffle salmon for $10 only; so it is thin. Then I moved on to Just Shrimp Tempura Maki. Gee it was sooooo good; thus I took out my cell phone for shooting pics. Since I didn’t drink I then ordered my default dish which is Calamari. Only $12 so I didn’t expect it to have many pieces of squid. A little too much coding but still very tasty with assorted vegetables. I will give it a 4.5 stars for my orders.

Overhyped, overpriced, and overcooked.
Atmosphere was judge-y and cold.
Rolls were not good, poorly assembled, and rice was mushy.
Salad dressings were too salty. Lettuce was wilted and toppings not fresh.

I had a horrible experience here today. Myself and a friend stopped for a quick bite before her flight. The vibes were great. We ordered as soon as our server came over. 3 rolls total and crab ragoon and one drink. Our crab ragoon came out instantly 20 mins go by I never received my drink, the server finally noticed and came over she said they were busy which was not the case. I told her don't bother with the drinks 20 mins later my friend has to leave and she said the sushi would be out soon 15 mins past and it finally arrives. 3 other tables who sat after us received their sushi before we did along with drinks. Horrible experience!

We showed up at the end of dinner rush, so it wasn't really busy. The waiter didn't show up, but someone eventually came to tell us that he was "helping" the waiter and bringing water. When he came back with water, it was room temp. We ordered drinks and a tuna tower while looking at the menu. I drank the warm water waiting for the drinks. "Helper" brought drinks out, and then the waiter showed up to say the tuna tower was on the way. The tuna tower was great. Miso soup and Amazon roll were excellent. It was a good meal, service was just mediocre, which is the reason for my rating. I never got cold water, so I drank my wife's warm glass too.

We have been looking for a good sushi restaurant for some time. Our friends recommended Blue Sushi Sake Grill to us, and it did NOT disappoint. The drinks were top notch, the food was absolutely incredible, and the atmosphere was amazing. Our waiter made jokes throughout our dining experience, which added to the ambience. For drinks we tried the White Peach Daiquiri, Coconut Breezy, and the Kokuto Whiskey. For food we ordered the Mango Crab Rangoons as an appetizer. And for rolls we ordered Thriller (has some kick), Hotel Cali, Lion King, and Rainbow Roll. All of which were incredible.

Placed an order online, cancelled. Placed an order on uber eats, cancelled. Called the store to place an order and was put on hold for 10 minutes to figure out if she was "allowed" to take a to-go order (6:30 on a Wednesday). Finally get the order in and I'm told my $25 order is going to take 45 minutes. I ask if they can escalate it because of my troubles thus far. They said it would be done in 25 minutes. I arrive at the restaurant pretty much as soon as I hang up the phone and am told I can wait for my order at the bar. Both bartenders greet me separately and promptly and I tell them I am just waiting on a to-go order. This makes 3 people total that know I am sitting waiting on an order (hostess + 2 bartenders). After waiting 45 minutes, I approach the host stand and ask what is going on with my order. They grab it from behind them where I assume it has been sitting for 20+ minutes. I thank them, pay, and leave. Very frustrating as it made me late for my other plans tonight.

I had always wanted to try this place. I was beyond disappointed. The sushi had brown rice which I don’t like. I saw other people’s food and they had white so it would have been nice to know I had a choice since ALL rice is gluten free. I asked for gluten-free soy sauce and was assured it was but then had a reaction later so it obviously wasn’t. None of the workers were friendly nor welcoming. What truly turned my stomach was watching workers fill water glasses by literally pressing the water pitcher down on each glass where people drink thus spreading germs. I appreciate music and a good vibe but it was obnoxiously loud. Super HARD pass.

I gave 4 stars because our server was running her legs off. We waited well over an hour for our food, but was not the servers fault. Was the kitchen under staffed like the server was? Despite everything, the server kept her composure pretty well. We gave her a pretty goot tip. As far as the food goes... My wife and I are not sushi people -- we were there because it is a place our son likes and can find food for his vegan sensibilities AND it was HIS birthday! Therefore, I'll recuse myself from commenting on the sushi.

They went above and beyond to help us and we will be forever grateful.

First of all, I would like to say Blue Sushi is one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City for sushi. It is always fresh and the flavors/ presentation is always on point. My friends and I usually go to the Westwood location at least once per month (which is absolutely amazing every time), but decided on the downtown/ 14th st location this Sat night with plans to go to KC Live afterwards.
As we were halfway through our dinner with approximately four sushi rolls and a couple appetizers still on our table (and drinks), the manager came up and told us that we could not stay that they needed our table for an eight top reservation coming in. (Mic drop) (There were five of us in our reservation.. two of our friends had just left after about 45 minutes in, and two of our husbands just arrived and were taking their seats. They were not ordering food, only a drink!)
The manager approached our table and told us that they could not sit down at our table. We were all in shock. He was incredibly rude and completely unprofessional. I said, I’m sorry, but we are not leaving until we are finished with our meal. I told him, you are not going to tell us we have to leave when we are sitting here halfway through our dinner, on top of just ordering a round of drinks. He spouted out a few words and said, “Fine, but they won’t be getting served!” 😳 Then he scurried off and stood about 20 feet away from our table hashing out the situation with a couple other team members and our server (awkward)
Our group was only there for about an hour and a half when this occurred!! I could see if we had been there for like 2 1/2- to 3 hours or longer and to perhaps be informed about their need for our table at a certain time.. and if we were taking an excess amount of time to eat etc.. but that was not the case. And as long as we are a paying customer and ordering, it shouldn’t matter! This restaurant has nothing posted about a max time limit per reservation, and even if they did, we still were within that timeframe. It was truly an unsettling and uncomfortable experience all around!
And to make the whole experience worse, our server forgot multiple times to bring items we had ordered at the beginning and we had to repeatedly ask her for these things.. She came across as frazzled and out of sorts the whole time we were there. 😒
Aside from all of this.. the food was amazing as always.. their management and staff needs work!

My friend and I encountered racism at this restaurant. We sat and waited for 15-20 mins during that time other people were sat after us and serviced. Our waiter had a table directly next to us, which he checked in on them frequently even giving them water. We received no service. I asked the hostess whom our waiter was and it was in fact him. She went to get his attention and he made a gesture as if he didn’t want to service us and passed us to another waiter. That waiter then looked over at us and proceeded to not service us as well. As someone who enjoys sushi, I was prepared to spend quite a bit of money but after the treatment I received I don’t plan on ever returning. I hope this establishment does better moving forward.

If you’re wanting to sit on a patio don’t expect to be able to here. I have tried to sit on the patio twice now this summer and both times they have told me they aren’t seating people outside which is disappointing considering it’s so nice out.

This is solely based on their vegan menu and our experience: We were totally impressed by the vegan offerings on the menu, some of the best we've had. We also had a nice chat with the Assistant General Manager, Jan Johnston, who was super nice. Living in Portland, OR gives you access to a lot of vegan food, but the vegan sushi in KC was better than back in Portland.

I really like this place. The only drawback (for me) was the EDM (music) … a bit loud for me. Really interesting rolls. Great service. I had two of the speciality rolls … both very good. The specialty selection is very interesting. Also many vegan options.

My wife and I’s favorite sushi place in KC. Service is always fantastic, sushi super flavorful and quality. Have tried many of the apps and sashimi/nigiri plates as well. All of them are very good. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for sushi!

Surprisingly good sushi for the area, but the service was a little slow. Of the 3 times here i’ve had to sit at the bar because the hosts weren’t readily available. The bar service was a little slow too. Other than that, their happy hour is good and still worth coming in for.

It’s our first time in Kansas City. My wife and I attended the wedding and whenever we travel, we always try to find Japanese restaurants and Poke shops (also made a review on Pokesan). It’s memorial day and I am happy to know that Blue Sushi is open when I called. Right when you walk in, there is a great ambience. The red lanterns pop out. I appreciate the layout, they have two bars, one liquor bar upfront, and a sushi bar at the back. We ordered the lunch special 2 makis and a soup/ salad. Got the Hawaiian Crunchy Roll, Lion King Roll, Coconut crab soup (tastes like a lahksa but thicker and more mellow on a great way), Lettuce wrap was awesome. For dessert you can’t go wrong with the Chocolate Spring Rolls which looks great but tastes even better. 1) Ambience is great 2) Food was awesome 3) Service was top notch thanks to CC our server!!

Went on Graduation Sunday right around the time they opened l and had a really strange experience. When we walked in it immediately smelled so bad we almost walked out. The group i was with wanted to leave but I convinced them to stay because I’ve heard such good things. Ultimately we had to leave immediately after apps because our stomachs were all turning. Maybe it’s just the cleaner they used or an off day but it was very off putting.

Jack always does his best to accommodate us. My partner has celiacs and I’m allergic to avocados. He always ensures that there’s no contamination in the rolls. We never have a bad experience and always want him as our waiter.

Just a "trendy" place, only go to if you like cilantro and avocado sushi with forced joke names, charged 5.5 dollars for miso soup?? and that was the only remotely japanese thing on the menu, I genuinely had a hard time ordering, if you actually want sushi and not just a trendy shop, there are plenty of japanese places around KC with better sushi, and actual japanese food.

I absolutely love going to Blue Sushi Sake Grill when I've got an event to host, or just a casual dine in. The vibe is just the right mix of classy and comfortable, making everyone feel welcome. The real standout for me is the service. They're all about making sure you're taken care of, especially one of the managers, Jan. She's awesome at making sure everything runs smoothly and everyone's happy.
Whether you're into traditional sushi rolls or looking to try some new flavors, they've got you. Plus, the drink selection has something for everyone, from sake to some cool cocktails.
Overall, if you're looking for a spot that gets both the atmosphere and the food, Blue Sushi is the spot. Always a great time with fantastic food and drinks.

My husband, two boys and myself stopped here for lunch and the food was soo delicious and our server, Brittany was made our experience soo much fun! She wa super patient with our boys , very attentive, made sure we were taken care of the entire time we were there. It was nice because I was nervous bringing our kids into this restaurant knowing we had kids I wasn’t trying to ruin anyone else’s lunch by having them but she really made us feel comfortable and had great menu suggestions! Thanks Brittany -The McGary’s from North Dakota

We made a reservation, it took them almost 15 minutes before they acknowledged us again to finally seat us.
The host asked us if we could finish our reservation within 1 hour. This already set the tone. She was extremely unprofessional, and incredibly rude. It’s appalling, and honestly we should have just taken this as a sign that our experience would be awful and we should have just left. We stayed because we had a good experience the last time we visited and were hoping our server would be able to make up for this unacceptable misstep, but we see now how telling it is, that this restaurant is unable to handle high volume on a holiday. I understand that it can be challenging to seat guests on a busy day like Mother’s Day, but perhaps there should have been a better plan to limit reservations if they were not able to handle their booked capacity. Isn’t timing of visit (how long a diner spends here) mostly dependent on your staff anyway? We felt unwelcomed here, and again, should have left. This was a terrible display of hospitality, I honestly can’t believe they would ask their guests this.
We asked three times for our daughter’s lemonade to be put in a kids cup. She’s 5, it was served in a tall bar glass, to which we weren’t even given a straw. We had to ask twice where my husband’s beer was. We were told in the middle of all of this by a girl who seemed to be doing everyone’s job plus her own, that our server had to “step out for a moment.” Whatever that means? Hence the delay in getting us appropriate drink ware for a child. A very visibly, obvious child, was given a bar glass with her drink in it. This is common sense, you don’t service children beverages in bar glass.
We ordered the dipping crab and charred edamame as an app. Our edamame was delivered, but no crab. Our server returned and asked if we would like to order anything else. We proceeded to then order 3 additional items to share and a kids bento for our child.
The additional 3 items we ordered for ourselves arrived, with no bento box. Still no crab. Bento box finally arrives almost 10 mins later (unacceptable), still no crab. We are inevitably told that it takes 20 minutes for it to be prepared—however, it had been more than an hour before it was finally delivered (and you wanted us to wrap up our dining experience in one hour? How?)
This was awful service all around, despite the fact that one item was comped. Not to mention, you could smell the sour bar smell from our table. It was so unpleasant, it makes it difficult to enjoy your food when all you can smell is rotting yeast-it was vile. Clean up your bar.
I left them a better review last time, but we will not be returning after this, this was disgraceful and utterly unacceptable. I would leave 0 stars if I could, and next time will trust my gut.

STINKY!!!
We came in just when it opened and there was a VERY UNPLEASANT SMELL throughout the building. We tried to stick it out and hope we adjusted. We kept getting hit with the smell and had to leave after our appetizers.
I think maybe a cleaning solution or something that they use is behind the smell. It was everywhere. Awful experience in a place I wanted to like so much!
The shishito peppers were really good.

Oh my goodness I am so disappointed with this location. I ordered take out solely based off my amazing experience at the Denver location. The food I received from this location was so bad. The salmon was supposed to be medium, and it's beyond well done. The construction appears careless because all ingredients are not in every piece. The amount of dipping sauces included was insulting not even a quarter full. This location has completely turned me off, and I will not be patronizing anymore.

My wife and I stopped for lunch at Blue Sushi on a Friday when traveling and had Brittney H. as our waitress - she was THE BEST! She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and provided suggestions when we couldn't decide! There are so many rolls to choose from! We had such a positive experience we decided to go back on Sunday when heading home! We requested Brittney and again had the best time! We also met Jan, the Assistant General Manager, and she made us feel right at home making sure we had everything we needed. We'll be sure to stop in the next time we're in town. Would *highly recommend this location for the food, staff, and atmosphere!

Came in on Monday and ordered to go, staff was great, everything else was very mundane. Waited 30 minutes for a sushi roll, when it came out it tasted old and slimey, the rest went in the trash, it was not a good first experience will probably not return to this pretentious place unless it’s for a drink and I’m dragged there. Definitely better places for sushi in the kc metro. Updating to let everyone know I did get sick a few hours later after this experience be careful with the sushi here it seems to not be very fresh

I ate here the other night and a few hours afterwards I was hit with the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had. The woman at the front counter was rude and the service for getting a seat was slow. I ordered the Hawaiian roll and crunchy LA and while they tasted good something must be off with one of the ingredients, as I was not the only one to experience food poisoning after dining here. I missed my flight as a result and am stuck recovering in the hotel. I will say my waiter was very kind and helpful. I would like a refund

Every time we come here either the the waitress or the bartender or the manager herself come to our table and make us feel extra special. The staff is so friendly, the restaurant is so clean. It is a wonderful atmosphere to share with a lunch for two or a dinner for 20.
My partner and I just got married and we were surprised with not only a congratulations cocktail from the bar, but also a special sushi roll from our waitress. Big shouts out to Rachel, Brittney and Jan. Jan - what an amazing team you have here. The food is outstanding. Best Sushi in KC. I lived in California for all of my life and to find a place with the quality of sushi that they serve here has been unfound until now.

Delicious, really one of the 2 sushi places I'll eat at in the city. A bit on the pricey side but consistent quality which is a big green flag. A bit hard to avoid "salad" rolls, especially on the happy hour menu, but can be done. They have an EXCELLENT vegan menu unlike anything I've ever seen before at a sushi restaurant. Good for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike. Good on-tap beer and sake selection. Happy hour all day Sunday which is cool. Their fried ice cream dessert with cake is huge and decadent and delicious, so try to save room or come just for dessert sometime. Reservations are recommended during peak times. This P&L location can get insane when there's an event, the Woodside Village location is much more tame though also very busy during peak times.

I came in there was 2 hosts one guy and a girl. The guy told us there would be an hour wait. We went around town waited for an hour came back 10 minutes before the hour was up. Our names were called for the table when a party of 9 (we had 4 people) who had a reservation upstairs decided they wanted to be seated downstairs. I thought that we would just be seated where they were in exchange after we waited for an hour. We ended up up not be seated and the guy then said there would be another hour to an hour and a half. We ended up leaving and going to longhorns. This guy also had no manners when talking to us but was very kind to the other party of 9. I'm not saying don't go here but they need to learn how to have customer service for everyone that comes into the establishment willing to spend money.

We love the Mission location, but this one is super fun and close to the Power and Light streetcar stop. Bar service is excellent, whether upstairs or downstairs. We prefer the vegetarian rolls, though we aren't vegetarians. A Japanese gin drink or saki goes with all of it. Start with the edamame (I prefer the traditional instead of the smoked,) and consider the Thai Hippie and Green Goddess rolls. Be mindful of concert nights at the T-Mobile Center as it can get extra busy.

we went on a friday night to celebrate my upcoming birthday. the waitress made an initial appearance and the rarely ever checked back on us. our food came out at very different times to the point where some of us were finished eating and others hadn’t even gotten their food yet. i ordered the hotel cali which was good but the lions king was a little heavy but okay nevertheless. we reminded multiple waiters more than once since we didn’t see our own but nobody rechecked on it. they brought out the incorrect appetizer. we had to ask for refills multiple times. we were waiting around forever to ask for the check because we were kinda fed up we just wanted to leave. it was embarrassing to suggest to go to this place for my birthday and i wish i had a better experience.
