Fresh sushi paired with an array of delectable Japanese entrees including teppanyaki style dishes prepared by skilled chefs right in front of your very eyes!
I love what they did to this building! It’s exactly what you expect from a Japanese restaurant, in this area anyway.
We went for a late lunch/early dinner. Our server was great! Our food was even better! We ordered the boat, and there was plenty for the 3 of us. I really enjoyed our drink pairings. I typically only eat Sashimi and Cali or Philly rolls, but the Osaka Roll was delicious 😋!
I can’t wait to eat there again!

My mom and grandma and I dined there for lunch today. Everything started out fine. We ordered sushi and I ordered chicken teriyaki and my grandma ordered shrimp tempura. We received our sushi pretty quickly, but about one hour goes by and our waitress has checked on us maybe once or twice within that hour and asks if we would like a Togo box. We let her know that we still haven’t received the rest of our food yet. She proceeds to tell us that their internet is being worked on and the kitchen must not have received our ticket. (Reasonable, I get it. I’ve worked in the service industry)
Had she checked on us a little more often she probably could have realized sooner our food had never been brought to the table. She then brings our food out and my grandmothers order is completely wrong. At this point it is 3:00 and we had been here since about 1:30. I told her to just forget it and get us the checks. During all of this, the staff is cleaning up the restaurant and has mopped majority of the front part of the restaurant WHILE there are still customers inside. A sweet lady with 3 children slipped and fell because the floors were SO wet. This precious lady had just had hip replacement surgery not too long ago. Absolutely NO STAFF, INCLUDING THE MANAGER took charge to come and check on her. My family and I got up quickly and called 911 for help (still no staff has come around at this point). The manager not once was attentive to this sweet lady at all and we made that VERY clear to her. The staff had absolutely NO concern for her. 2-3 of the staff members were LAYING DOWN napping in the booths behind us. The staff and manager clearly have ZERO respect for their customers after witnessing what I did today. I’m sure there are plenty of other hibachi and sushi restaurants around that are MUCH better at service and attentiveness to their customers. This place isn’t it. My family stayed with the sweet lady until help arrived and someone was able to come pick up the children.

Dined in on the sushi side and ordered sushi and rice along with a couple more things from the menu and from the start the service was never good and seemed like it was a rush of trying to get my order. As i ended up getting my rice and meat i tried to start eating this bull and immediately put it down. One of the waiters saw that the food was pushed to the side and not touched and whispered “do you need a togo box” i said no. What does that mean? This food was nasty, terrible, and disgusting. I asked to speak with the “manager” a big goofy and told her about the incident with the food and how it was not touched AT ALL!! Clear as day that the food wasn’t touched. She says she will take off one meal then goes to the back and comes back and says that the owner says that no meal could be compensated.. Weird because even SHE said that the rice looked mushy… Then she continued to walk off and laugh, don’t come here..

We were pleasantly surprised by the great experience we had here last Saturday. The restaurant was very busy, and we were being seated at one of the last available tables next to a family, when we saw that there was a more intimate spot available at the sushi bar, and they gladly accommodated our request. We were waited on immediately despite the seat change. The service was fantastic, friendly and fast. Drinks came out quickly and food and sushi came out as it was prepared. The sushi bar was slammed with orders, and it understandably took some time for a few items, but the pacing of the food ended up being perfect for a delightful meal. Miso soup was good. Hamachi Kama was presented beautifully and was fresh. All the fish was fresh, including tuna and yellowtail nigiri. Our server recommended a roll that was not on the menu that was heavy on the scallops and it was delicious. They have Japanese beers on tap. The decor and Presentation is fresh, rich and inviting. The noise level was good—not too loud, and just right for an intimate dinner. We hadn’t been planning to go there, but now that we’ve been, we will definitely be back! Bravo!

I wrote a review for this place several years ago, and their food has stayed consistently good ever since. I'm rewriting the entirety of it because it was just outdated!
The Udon bowl is a very old picture from their last spot, but after trying it recently, it's still one of my favorite items! My new favorite is their Unagi-Don! It has so much yummy eel meat, the rice soaks up the flavor and the extra salads within the bowl make the entire dish more elevated! I recommend the Udon for cooler days, and the Unagi-Don for normal!
Lastly is their Shinjuku roll, that my partner gets it EVERY TIME! It has a very distinct vinegar flavor that really satisfies the tangy craving one gets!

I HATE to write this review but feel it is absolutely necessary. I chose the word hate because I believe the old saying, "You can't hate what you haven't once loved." Yeah, it's long. That's because Osaka has a LOT of problems that need discussion. Hoping the owners decide to fix them instead of continuing to ignore the issues pushing customers away from their establishment! This WAS my favorite sushi/hibachi restaurant. I've eaten here almost weekly & have been recommending it to friends & family for years. SADLY things have changed drastically in the past 3 months. Given them several chances hoping it was just a one time bad experience but it's been half a dozen times now. Tonight was my last visit. The sushi is NOTHING like it used to be!!!!!!! It's like they don't even have a real sushi chef anymore! Quality & quantity of seafood ingredients has been greatly reduced in the rolls while prices have increased. Everything tastes old & bland. Rolls aren't rolled properly & the bites just fall apart when you pick them up. There is NO artistry in the presentation. Rolls that should have roe, don't. Rolls that should have sauce, don't. Rolls that should have crunchy, don't. Guess what my "soft shell crab roll" didnt have in 6 out of 8 pieces. Only ONE TINY CLAW CUT IN HALF & stuck upright in the two end pieces like a garnish. Asked for management & was told, "She's not here tonight." Do they only have one now?
Our last hibachi dinner (3 weeks ago) was horrible! Seafood for the entire table was terribly overcooked, dry & tough. Lobster, scallops & shrimp aren't cheap choices to be served ruined. Noone was served veggies until we had all finished eating. He pushed the veggies to the side & complety forgot about them until he started to clean the grill. I REPEATEDLY asked for my food to be taken off the grill. The cook just ignored me. He acted impaired (drunk or high?). He couldn't even stack the onions for the volcano. He didnt interact with the children at the table. No "show" at all. This is NOT how it's supposed to be!

Came in at 1:50 yesterday Dec 30th for lunch. I know you close at 2 and reopen at 4. There were still.a lot of people and did not turn us away. We sat down took 15 mins to get anyone to come and take our drink order. I gave our whole order which was a rainbow roll, 2 chicken tempura bento box .
Roll came pretty quickly. I get 1 hr for lunch. After getting sushi, we never got our bento boxes 30 to 45 mins later. No apologies, nothing . We paid for what we drank and ate.
Horrible service. I will not recommend this place because of service. I believe the manager waited on us. She has green hair and nose ring. Not friendly or a,good example of a leader.

I’ve been debating on writing this review for weeks now, but i’ve had multiple bad experiences at this restaurant. The hostesses (little girls) are always playing around and seem to want to do anything but seat people. The sushi is bad. There’s better options such as Hibiki in Brandon that have a better bang for your buck. Sadly is my last time eating there as I hoped it’d improve.

Place was absolutely packed, decided to sit at the sushi bar itself. The service was amazing, the food was to die for, and in spite of the insane amount of customers they had waiting, we didn't really have to wait as long as we thought we would. The staff were attentive and kind, and it was a wonderful experience so I plan on going back there sometime soon! I highly recommend checking this place out!

My partner and I wanted to try Osaka for lunch. Location is ideal and the atmosphere was nice. I wish I remembered our waitress’s name but she was excellent. Very friendly and humorous, and her service was top-tier. The sushi and miso soup were very tasty. The teriyaki chicken was slightly dry, and the abundance of peppers is a bit much for my liking. But the flavor was outstanding. But the reason for 2 stars is due to hair being found in our food. Once we informed the manager and pointed out the hair, their response was extremely disappointing. Mistakes do happen and the expectation this would never happen is unrealistic. We are very understanding. Also, The restaurant did offer to remake our food. However, the lack of accountability from the management and low confidence that this issue will be addressed going forward will make it difficult to return here. Quite disappointing, given most of the food items were delicious and multiple staff members had great service. I hope customer’s concerns will be given more urgency to maintain a sanitary, delightful experience.

WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. The female server that was in the hibachi area at lunch today never ever smiled, had a rude air about herself, and you can tell she hated her job. This is just one of many examples of how the hospitality industry has sunk to such low levels. They expect a tip but make your outing and your choice of eatery an absolute regret. The person I was with recognized the same issue. If you have a poor disposition and DONT like dealing with people, please work elsewhere. Don’t go into hospitality. Your disposition makes or breaks the person’s experience and today, we regretted choosing Osaka as the location we were eating lunch. What was suppose to be a “catching up” moment was ruined by this girls poor attitude disposition. I will never step foot in that place again. We both had an appetizer and hibachi. My bill was $37 and my friend’s bill was $27. What a waste of time and money.

Customers beware. Unsanitary practices and bad customer service. I was given the wrong takeout order and had almost gotten home when I got a call from the restaurant to bring it back. I asked “are you sure you want me to bring it back” and the fat white guy working the counter by the door said “Yes, we need it to give to the other customer”. I turned around and started to head back. I called back to try to figure out how they knew they gave me the wrong order and the manager told me “we gave it to a lady and she figured it out.” I asked for my food to be remade because I didn’t want food others had handled. She then changed her story and told me they never gave it to anyone and it never left the restaurant. Right?!? Just like the phone call I got telling me to bring them the wrong order back. Long story short, the fat white guy denied everything and essentially called me a liar. Funny thing is, they put the wrong order (the one I brought back) on the takeout order rack and never threw it away. There is better sushi around the Jackson area and I would recommend others branching out as well. If this is what I’m seeing from the front, there is no telling what is going on in the back. This is super unsanitary and I will not be going back. I would love for management (someone other than the manager or the fat white guy) to reach out so I can go more in-depth.

I can’t leave one star because the food was great. However, I would’ve had more use ordering from a brick wall as opposed to the waitress we had. She put in our order incorrectly and when confronted, she blamed us and had no intention of using customer service skills. I hope she was only having a bad day, and that others have better service.

Normally it is a rather pleasant experience. I eat here at least once a week and get the same thing everytime. To start this experience off I should have known something was going to be up when I placed my frequent weekly Togo order and the price had went up. Nevertheless I still said ok and went ahead with the order. Being that I close at my job on the day I order my sister stops on her way home from work due to being in the area and gets it for me and drops it off. With this visit however once my food got to me it was not the correct ordered I placed and the young lady that I spoke with repeated AT ALL. I got chicken hibachi with no onions, zucchini, and mushrooms well done. Once I got the food and prepared myself to eat and mix in what I need to start chowing down what do I see but ONIONS which I specifically requested not to have needless to say I immediately got upset and could not eat the food. I calmed myself and then called the restaurant hoping to get some type of resolution to my problem the first person I speak with is no help in which is ok and they stated they would get me someone else. I then got on the phone with someone else explained the circumstances and the issues only for them tell me since the rice was the only thing wrong and that was the only thing they can remake due to the fact that I can't bring the food back due to the fact that I'm at work now. I stated that would be an inconvenience due to the fact my sister has already came once after work and would have to come back to get my food and take it back to the restaurant and then bring it back to me. Already inconveniencing us due to the fact that you all made it incorrectly. And I even offered to take a picture and/or a video of the food and me throwing it in the garbage due to the fact that that's all they were going to do. And don't get me wrong I understand that you all have been having people probably call and make false claims but I am not one of them and am a returning frequent customer on top of being in management myself therefore I expected much different than what was received. She still had an attitude like it was our fault that they made the food wrong. When I say don't have to worry about my patronage anymore. After all the good time and experiences I will not visit this location anymore.

I have eaten at many Japanese restaurants from LA to NC & this is the best overall experience I’ve had. From the moment you walk in, your expectations are raised & you will not be disappointed. Seating and service are what you’d expect from a fine dining restaurant but what sets them apart is the quality of the fresh ingredients and house made sauces. I’ve seen numerous FB posts of the owner, Tommy, cutting whole fish for that days sushi & hibachi. It’s this attention to detail that’s allowed him to grow into the best Japanese restaurant in MS.

I cannot eat the soup at these places due to blood pressure and heart reasons. Bonsai, YoKo & Ichiban have always allowed me to substitute the soup for an extra salad or pay the difference of $.50 to a $1 extra. The manager there with absolutely no personality said I would have to pay full price for another salad. Yes, things have gone up but iceberg lettuce is not one of them. And believe me with the 2 ounces of cheap iceberg lettuce that was in my box they should’ve actually taken my $1 and they would’ve made more money. Will not be back. Sticking to the originals in our area. Can never go wrong with the 3 I named.

Went here for my birthday on the 27th, and I really enjoyed everything, minus the price part because it is NOT cheap to eat here. That's why I would recommend going here for a special occasion, or getting one meat instead of the steak, shrimp, and chicken combo. I'd also recommend getting there before lunch or dinner traffic, because this olace gets VERY busy in a hurry.

Overpriced, poor quality. Called in a California roll, shrimp tempura roll, and edamame. Only got the California roll, and instead of the sushi I got a togo box with 4 fried shrimp tempura, and random fried vegetables with a handful of cold edamame. All of this was $32. Way too many places around here that are better to charge that much for so little, with flavor that is nothing special.

After other customers were seated in 30 minutes we were overlooked several times. There is a glitch in there system and some text messages are not sent. They are aware of the issues and said if you don't get your text come back. I went back again. After watching people who came in after us get seated I went back to the hostess again. She seated us immediately and never said a word. I asked for the manager. After speaking with her. Emily apologized and told me about the wait time of other customers which was not my business. Emily asked me do you not want to eat here and it was okay. That was not appropriate and very unprofessional. Emily needs additional training or should be fired.

We have been coming to Osaka for many years. We like new place they just moved to but they struggle a bit. Food is good but has gone up in price a fair amount. Atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly. I would give it more stars if they would do something to help the clueless teenagers running the front desk, they need a wee bit of help. But all and all we have liked Osaka for many years.

I just left there and the waitress there was very rude and shouldn’t be working in customer service. 2 of my coworkers and I went there after work to sit and eat, my coworkers order appetizers but I didn’t want any, the waitress comes to get the menus and the orders and asks if I wanted any appetizer and I replied, “no” and she then says, “maybe they’ll share with you.” After that they guy comes to cook our food and he was phenomenal, the waitress never comes back to the table to ask if we needed anything to drink or if we needed extra napkins or anything. The guy who was cooking was cleaning off the grill, and she(the waitress) walks back over while we’re starting to eat and ask if we need to-go boxes, no do you need anything else to drink, no do you need any napkins, we just felt rushed as if we were getting pushed out the door. My coworkers had paid but I was still eating and she came and stood beside me and said, “you’re not ready to pay yet.” I just dumped my food in the box and just left. This has been the WORST service I’ve had from a restaurant in over 20 years. My coworkers and I have agreed that we’re not going back.

I had a great experience at Osaka despite being a solo diner.
I was seated promptly at an empty table but was quickly joined by another small party. I was a bit worried at first since the table was only half-full but thankfully the chef came out right away and cooked for us anyway.
I had the chicken, steak, and shrimp. The food was prepared wonderfully (chicken was moist, steak was at my requested temp, shrimp was tender) and the portions were very generous.
Oh yeah, and the "show" was the traditional that you'd expect (volcano, tossing chicken bites, etc.) but it was executed flawlessly.
Highly recommended 👍

Good food. Good service. The new location is a big upgrade.

I have been to this establishment plenty of times, and this time I am not sure if they are new trainees on the grill, but the food was horrible.

Food and service was mediocre at best. The tipping system that is being used is based off the total ticket value with taxes included. Tipping should be based on the amount ordered and not include taxes. Needless to say, I will not be back.

Food was great, as always. The tootsie roll is my favorite. Our hibachi chef was great!

Me and my boyfriend love Osaka the food is amazing we come several times a week on our lunch break, but today we were disappointed to find out that we could not sit on the sushi side if we wanted anything hibachi;(our typical order is 2 bbq salmon rolls and 2 steak hibachi). This was an inconvenience for us as we have limited time for our lunch break and we usually get in and out fairly quickly but instead we had to be seated on the hibachi side with a large group of people, we had to wait for the hibachi chef and go through the whole show where we were the last ones to be served. We were super late getting back to work. I’m not sure if they were just really busy and were trying to streamline how food was coming out, but safe to say if this is the new regular we will not be coming back for lunch anymore.

I'm back again! I met my friends for a birthday dinner last night at the new location. There were 7 of us. (Restaurant looks amazing btw) Anyways, we are seated, drinks and orders are taken, everything is good. I ordered an appetizer and a side of fried rice, the beef negimaki to be specific. Nothing else. (I also understand that the restaurant was busy, I expected to wait for the appetizer)
My friends all order hibachi and sushi. The chef comes out a bit later and starts their order. The sushi makes it to the table, no appetizer yet. I continue to wait, chef is cooking the fried rice. Cooks and plates the rice and begins on the meats. Still no appetizer. We stop the waitress and ask her, she said that it would probably be another 10 mins. Fine, I wait 10+ mins, the chef finishes everyone's orders and leaves. We ask again. Another 10 mins until its ready. My friends eat, finish eating, and are ready to pay, but still no appetizer. The waitress passes out tickets and I again inquire about my order. I am told another 3 mins. I wait that time and I finally ask for it ti be removed from my ticket. The manager comes. I tell her what's happened, she blames the waitress by saying she never put the order in (she did). She then assumes I'm just trying to get free food and just not pay my ticket. She said, "for future reference we wouldn't do this" meaning give a food item away for free that I've been waiting over an hour and a half for. I'm not coming in for free food, and especially am not trying to make a scene over a $10 dollar appetizer dish that I never got! Can the manager please learn how to manage? I don't appreciate the assumption that I would come in just to get free food. And it was not the waitresses fault! No integrity, and no concern for the people working on her team to just throw that waitress under the bus like that! The manager had an attitude before she even made it to the table to talk to me.
Also, they check on that order before we left and it still wasn't ready..a simple appetizer and poor management skills ruined celebrating a friends birthday.

How do we get an online menu???
Hands down the best sushi in Mississippi. No question. Always good and staff is friendly.
Hibachi needs a tad bit of work compared to Yoko, but great overall.

I ordered the smoked salmon, fresh yellowtail, and spicy tuna roll. The smoked salmon roll had very little, if any smoke on it. I asked if what I received was a smoked roll because I could not taste any smoke. The server went to ask and the manager after a minute or so he came by to our table, said nothing, and leaned over still without saying anything and then said that looks like a smoked salmon roll. They offered to remake it, but based on that interaction I decided against it. The “smoked salmon” roll was okay so I went with it. I then ate the fresh yellow tail, and one of the pieces of the yellowtail had what I believe was a bone (picture attached). The spicy tuna roll was pretty good, but they put one of the salmon rolls in the group with the spicy tuna roll so instead of 6 spicy tuna, I only got 5. Also the sushi roll pieces were not wrapped well and some were already opening and falling apart and also not cut evenly.
Overall, the basic preparation of their most basic rolls were not executed well.
My wife and I also got the Crab Stick Tempura. The tempura had about 8 pieces, and about half of the pieces were cold and the other hot were hot like it came just out of the fryer. Not sure why it was like that so that is weird.
I would not come back again given that there are other better and more consistent Japanese restaurants in the immediate area.

This has always been me and my wife's favorite sushi spot. I took my wife here for our first date at the old location. If you're looking for the best, this is your place. We have been wishing that they could get into a nicer building that could accommodate more customers. It gives you the upscale feel that the quality of their food deserves. If there is a wait, it's worth it. If kitchen or sushi service is slow, it's because you're going to get quality food.

Best hibachi I’ve had in the past year since I moved to MS! Service can be off at times which I chalk up to servers and hosts being teens which I look past. Sushi rolls are fresh and well made. New restaurant is gorgeous, can’t wait to come and have dinner. I’ll be back, filet mignon hibachi was sooooo delicious.

Went in for lunch on my break and sat at the sushi bar. My "server" walked past me several times while ignoring me. One of the sushi chefs asked me what I wanted and started making my sushi after getting me water. The server stopped by to verify what the chef had told him I ordered and then I never saw him again. In the meantime their computer system went down. I asked for my check and was told I would need to wait for the system to come back up to pay with card, which was all I had. Another server, who presented as a lead of some sort, stopped by after 15 minutes and asked if I was in a hurry. I replied that I was on my lunch break and he chuckled then told me to keep waiting. After a little over 20 minutes since I had asked for my check the same sushi chef who had taken and prepared my order asked if he could see my check, which I replied that I had not been given one, and he walked over to his own tip jar, grabbed cash from it, and told me he would pay for my meal and that I could go back to work.
The sushi chef was amazing as was the lady who came by to clear my plates. The servers were alternatingly rude and incompetent.
I love the food here, and will likely be back just for the sushi. However if it were not for the amazing chef I would not be.

Was just there for the soft opening and I have to say it is really impressive. The food is fantastic just like the old Osaka, but the atmosphere and the service is a step up and incredible. A massive upgrade and I will be back

ROACH crawled across the hibachi table after we had eaten salads but before the chef started our food. Waiter killed it and walked away like it was nothing. Manager explained the building was old and they had just sprayed for bugs. Was offered some of our bill be comped. We left without eating.

The owner was taking pictures of me and my friends while we were eating. We're minors, and we don't appreciate adults taking pictures of us and getting involved in teenage drama that literally ended a year ago 💔

Very petty staff. I don’t know why they feel the need to talk about minors the way they do, but they do. Like what does trashing 2 young girls who support your business do for you? I would love to know

Choose hibachi or menu. We had hibachi and it was a good experience. Laid back atmosphere. Good food. Reasonable prices, large portions.
