Sushi was okay but the ramen I had was worse than instant noodles. I asked for pork and they gave me 5 dry pieces and it was 14 dollars. I know people say to order only sushi but they ran out of rice. So I had to order something else.

Back in the days this was the place to go. But over the years quality has gone down. For instance, your vegetable tempura is undercooked and soggy. It looks like you prepared them in advance, froze them and then put them under a heated lamp to warm up. Also, don’t advertise crab in your sushi when it’s actually imitation crab.

Went it was good. Waitress was able to get our order in asap so we got our food quickly since a large group came in which was fantastic! It's kind of pricey for what you get though. I bought the soft shell crap hoping to get a bit more but it was just 1 small shell crab. I like the laab. I ordered to go and was charged a tip which I don't think was needed since I mean it was to go so.... I don't think it was necessary since I wasn't being severed the food. Overall pretty good but I don't for see myself coming back again unless invited by a friend.

Want great sushi go to Tokyo sushi or Kyoto .

This place has been on my list to try it out .

Didn't get seated they just told me to seat my self anywhere .

The waitress came about 10 minutes after we sat down .

We ordered our food and drinks .

The sushi rolls , and salad came with a soup , got brought to our table and well it was good .

We waited about 30 minutes than the waitress started arguing with the sushi chef and plates were broken .then she came over to tell us that they did not have chicken for the chicken teriyaki entree.

45 minutes after we have been waiting for our food. I asked for my tab and paid and left

I will never come back here . I do not recommend it at all.

No professionalism and no great atmósfera to be around.

Good atmosphere as it was in a busy but steady location.

Their service was okay. Food came out in a weird order and some appetizers did not arrive until after our meals. I did not appreciate the the 17% gratuity being automatically charged on our bill for my wife and I. I understand large groups, but it was just us two.

Food: Only decent thing was the sushi. Everything else was overly soy sauced. Beef bulgogi dinner was literally beef and thicker soy sauce lol. No thanks.

Not returning.

The experience here can be good or not so good. Last time I ate at Sushi Tango with my family we waited well over 1 hour to receive our food. It was a weekday and relatively empty. a few groups arrived at least 1/2 hour after we did and were served first! I really hate to say this but It became obvious that certain groups were being treated differently than we were. I tried to get the attention of the waitress and she saw me but decided to ignore me. Finally I approached the bar where she was chatting with another customer. I politely asked her what was taking so long - It was approaching 1 1/2 hours and groups that had arrived after us had already had their meal and left. She was rude to say the least and basically told me the food will come when it comes. I don't need to pay a good price for a family of four to be treated this way. We've recently had other not so good experiences at Sushi Tango - cold food, rice not served, mixed drinks arriving with the meal. As a Woodbury resident and long time customer I hate to say it but this is the straw that broke the camels back. We won't be returning.

They have sushi. Not a big fan of carrots or asparagus in my sushi. Service at lunch on a Saturday was over an hour for 2-rolls and some wontons. No cokes/sodas on the menu. All the liquor bottles were wrapped in saran wrap, along with a jug of soy sauce wrapped in saran wrap? Probably a cost prohibitive establishment. There are better places that have sushi out there for the price.

I've been here twice. Both times I ordered take out and waited. The food was great and the service great. Everyone was super friendly. One of the men that makes the sushi remembered me from when I was there only once. He recommended things that I may like and made my order on the mild side since I don't like spicy food. The food was great and decently priced. I even had a cocktail while I was waiting. It's in a strip mall in Tamarack Village. It's not very fancy inside, but with food this good and great service it doesn't need to be fancy. It is handicapped accessible, so I was able to roll up to the sushi bar. Both times I was there, they were busy. Its not very big, but I loved it and will definitely be back more.

I can see they are a little understaffed and the building definitely needs upkeep. Trash in ladies room was full when I arrived there shortly after they opened and fixtures are all dusty. I believe it could turn into a great place but they would really need to do a deep clean and a little remodel.

This place has severely gone down hill in the last few months. I’m not sure whether it’s under new management but ever since the staff, interior and menu has changed so has the quality- in a very negative way. Everything about the sushi tastes poor, the fish tastes old and the rolls are bland and fishy tasting. I felt sick hours after eating here, not sure if it was from the low grade fish or what. I will never be returning, whatever charm this place had is FAR gone. You’d be better off spending more money and feeding your sushi craving somewhere else.

Have you ever loved a place so much then one bad experience ruins your entire view of it? That's how i feel about Sushi Tango after tonight. I was excited to show a close friend of mine an affordable sushi restaurant in Woodbury, that I have had nothing but positive things to say about until today. After ordering our food, we received it in a timely manner for how unusually busy they were. I had ordered chicken stir-fry with rice and baked green muscles. Our waitress had forgotten my rice but I assumed that it was on the way so I took a bite of stir-fry that was cold, I took three more small bites just to ensure that my dish was indeed cold - I was right. For the next 25 minutes I tried to get the attention of our waitress as she had not came back to ask us how our food was, yet she has checked on the table next to us four times within that time frame. When I finally grabbed her attention my friend had finished all of her food and I kindly asked for my meal to be removed as I had not ate any, my rice was missing and our dinner was now over. She went to ask a manager and I was told that they would only take 10% of the meal. I had then asked to talk to the manager as that is ridiculous and she pointed to behind the full bar and said "sure she's right there", as if she expected me to push through the people sitting at the bar to talk to her. After what felt like 10 minutes of waiting I was finally greeted with the manager full of attitude saying, "so you wanted to talk to me?" I then explained to her how much I loved Sushi Tango and actively come here for take out and dine in but I had not touched my food and if our waitress would've been attentive I would have asked for it heated up prior to spending over an hour in the restaurant already. She then raised her voice at me that they were busy, I could just say that I don't like the food(?) then rolled her eyes saying she would take it off the bill. If you made it this far I would recommend the baked green muscles, they are delicious and going at a time that the red haired manager is not working as if there is an issue with the food or service she will try to make it your fault.

Our server was very rude and it wasn’t even busy! She couldn’t even apologize for the long wait! We noticed that the sushi chefs would drink with their friends and make rolls for them instead of make the sushi rolls for customers. (Well no wonder we never got anything we ordered)! Sushi Tango is located on the strip mall side of JCPenny. Parking lot is shared with other businesses. It can get busy at time, so I recommend reservations as early as you can. Otherwise, calling ahead and request waiting time is no big deal too. My husband and I enjoy coming here once in while to get our sushi fill. He loves there trout head and raw oysters with house special sauce. There shrimp tempura is on point and their sashimi are or seems fresh too. So is their tuna laab (off menu), too. Family and kid friendly. The place give you a cool mist vibe. Clean and decent.

Review №79

Had the dynamite roll, yellowtail roll, and spicy tuna roll. Though the sushi itself was pretty good (tasted fresh with no fishy smell), the rolls looked pretty uniform and we couldn’t tell what was what nor was it pointed out to us by the waitress. In fact, it looked like two rolls because one side was standing up and the other side was laying flat. We had asked the waitress if another roll was still coming out after we had finished our plate. She stated that we received all that we had ordered and that the way the sushi was laid out was what differentiated the rolls from each other. I didn’t want to argue because I did not know what we ate or what we got because it wasn’t made clear when we received it at the table. THE DYNAMITE ROLL IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from other restaurants (refer to menu). The staff told me that what I was looking to order is actually the spider roll which looks like a dynamite roll from other places. 🙄 So just FYI.

Beef tataki was delicious last time I had it here a few years ago along with the oyster sliders. However it made me sick this time around. We had asked for it to be made spicy and they had put a lot of Thai chili slices on it. I think it’s rather difficult to control the spice level with Thai chilis bc after you have a slice, your mouth is on fire already. Something tasted odd about the beef, even after I squeezed lemon over it. I think the beef might have gone bad.

To top it off, we overheard some chefs speaking in their native tongue and complaining about certain customers. It was not professional and it made my husband and me self-conscious. We really wanted to support them but after what happened, I don’t think we will be coming back.

I've always loved this place but tonight I was deeply disappointed. My guyfriend had made a reservation but I happen to ran late so we was not in until 45min after and they already canceled our rsvp which is understandable. It was busy so we had to wait for the next available table which is fine.

The problem was, meanwhile I was waiting the server/hostess had the audacity to tell the couple who came in after me that they get "VIP service" and seated them right away. Just cause he's a popular person in our community. She then offered bar area to me. I declined at first but my guyfriend said the bar is fine. It was very rude and unprofessional of her. We should've been sat first. Servers had an attitude, did not seem welcoming nor friendly.

Sushi Tango, you guys need to reevaluate your server's. This is may be a hit or miss situation but this behavior is not okay. I did not want to make a scene and figured people have their bad days so I just kept my cool. I hope this gets fixed.

If I could give zero stars I really would. We walked in and was greeted by no one for 5 minutes. They were clearly understaffed because there was one server.

Understandable that maybe something happened and that is why there is one server but she made no effort to even give us menus or greet us. We sat ourselves and had to go to the hostess table to get our own menus. Having worked in the service industry, it’s understandable that it’s hard to juggle multiple tables but after 35 minutes of sitting, it became frustrating that the server never approached our table once. No water, no utensils, no plates, no apology, no “I will be there in a little to take your order” or anything at all. Absolutely no communication. We kept trying to get her attention but she avoided eye contact and continued to just serve the tables around us. There were times when she just stood at the bar waiting for food to be made when she could’ve at least brought us water or literally anything. When we finally just stood up and left, no one said anything to us other than watch us leave. We left and the server didn’t say anything to us the whole time we were there.

Management needs to do better with staffing and training time management skills. Never coming back.

Don’t be tempted to try the others like I did, the beef bulgogi was like wet cardboard soaked in sauce.. and the udon was even worst, it seemed like they stir fried the leftover old scraps from veggie parts they didn’t use. You can get better at a different restaurant. You’ve been warned. The wings were alright, too much wasabi was overwhelming. I was super disappointed because so many people recommended this place. Took my 13 and 16 year olds here for lunch because they LOVE sushi. Our family enjoy sushi. Woodbury has a very limited selection of quality Asian restaurants. Recently, my go to sushi restaurant (Kyatchi in Saint Paul) closed so we were hoping this place would fill the gap.

Restaurant appearance: ok. Has the dark black and red open floor plan hip vibe. But the table top we were at was quite sticky. Not sure whether it’s because that’s how the tables are or whether it was caked in with stuff over the years.

Service: there appeared to have 3 staff
Around the dining area (2 at sushi bar). They were courteous when we did get a hold of them. They just weren’t really receptive to serving customers it appears. Not rude nor Mean. They just were inattentive? Once we got a hold of the server, he took our order fine. Now, it did take a LONG time for the order to arrive. We ordered Tako yaki (this came at a reasonable time (about 10 min). The rest - spider roll, spicy yellowtail roll, eel maki roll, and ikura sushi seem to take an unusually long time. (We looked around and saw maybe one or two other tables with 2 ppl each so it wasn’t because it was crowded. So this was a miss.

Food taste - it was alright. Nothing to write home about. Didn’t feel worried about food poisoning nor were we impressed. Deep fried softshelled tasted slightly old but not spoiled.

Value / price
We were not aware that the portions here are 1/2 the size of other Japanese restaurants we dine at even the prices did not reflect this. Kids were still hungry after the three rolls, appetizer, and ikura sushi. sonny had to go searching for a server to order two more rolls.

Overall, we will continue searching for our sushi restaurant after this experience. Sonny would give it a 1-2 stars. He was really put off by the service and value. I’d probably give them a 2.5. Now time to get some more food. Hahaha…

No crunch to it at all.  You will know it's a good tempura when you hear a good crunch. The korean bulgogi was so weird. It was thinly sliced into a small retriangle shape and when you eat it, it's so tough and dry. If you have enough korean food then you will know a good bulgogi. This is the worst bulgogi ever. Bulgogi suppose to be tender and with lot of juice but this is totally the opposite. It almost didn't go down because it was too tough. Also, the INGREDIENTS for the sushi doesn't tastes fresh. Sam club's sushi is better than these. Portion is also very small. FINALLY, we were never given enough silverware to eat our food. I will not recommend this place and will not be returning.

The hostess/server wasn’t thrilled we were there because they had several reservations, so we sat at the sushi bar. One sushi chef behind the bar was very friendly and took a couple of our orders, as our server wasn’t very attentive. The hot green tea had a nice sesame flavor.

She also suggested a different roll than we ordered as she said many people didn't like the original one we wanted. Very happy with the suggestion! She is the reason we will return again. Thanks Denise! I hope you see this!

No complaints about the sushi! It's always good and fresh, as are the oysters and the chicken wings. It is a bit more expense than going to an all you can eat buffet, but that it to be expected. The happy hour specials are the best way to get delicious food for a better price. Will return!

I ordered calamari and it was heavily battered. I like mine lightly battered and more crispy. The rolls were nothing spectacular. Don't place a carry out order during the week at 9:20 pm. Perhaps that's why it was just ok? As a new customer, I shouldn't have to worry about the quality of the food or service, if they advertise orders accepted until 9:30. Anyways, got this one out of my system. Will try another one now. Plus it's not authentic. Just boring really.

I got there pretty late. Maybe 9:15pm. It was one of the only places still open. I wanted to get my order to go and I walked in and the place was packed which I feel is a good sign! That must mean it’s good.

They were super busy and the sign at the front said to wait. Eventually a waitress came to me and lmk the bartender usually does the pickup orders and that they are out of rice (making more, 35 minutes). That’s totally fine, I’d order stuff without rice. She was very nice and took my order and ran my card. I waited in my car since there is not a waiting area.

I came back in after 20 minutes and stood at the front for maybe 7 minutes. The waitress came over and told me that pickups are at the bar (wish their sign up front directed me where to go). The lady handed me my stuff without saying much.

I’d rate the food mediocre. Edamame is $6 for very little. The spring rolls are almost entirely rice noodles. Maybe a few carrot strips and a cucumber slice. That disappointed me the most. I also got fried soft tofu in shiitake mushroom sauce and that was pretty good.

I would consider giving this place another shot on a less busy evening. I worked in restaurants for a decade so understand a rough night and that could’ve been what it was!

I used to order take-out all the time and have it delivered or picked it up. It has become impossible to order for delivery, so it's been pickup only. Now, I tried to make an order for pickup (Thursday 5:45pm) and was told they aren't taking orders for pickup. Sushi Tango, I have been a loyal take-out/delivery customer for several years now, but you have become impossible for me to continue giving you my support. No more Sushi Tango.

Went here for Valentine's day and was not impressed at all. When we walked in they asked us to put on masks on which is fine but we didn't bring them in. I asked if they had some and they said no. I went to get ours in the car but why would you require it but not have some on hand for paying customers?

Took forever for someone to come give us water or take our orders. More time passed and we had to wave down our waitress Nyiaj to get water. She slammed our glasses down as if she was annoyed we were asking her to do her job.

We placed our order and while we were waiting what felt like a lifetime, I saw the hostess seating down two parties that did not have masks on. I was a little irritated that she didn't treat every customer the same way. Our orders came out one by one and our last sushi roll, I had to ask when it was going to be done. She said she will check. The table that came after us got all their food before us. Don't you work on one ticket at a time? They did end up not charging us for that last roll but that's not the point. The food was mediocre at best. The highlight was not the sushi but the raw oysters.

I will never eat here again or recommend it to anyone. That is all.

The perfect spicy southeast asian take on sushi. Huge fan of their dishes w/citrus flavored sauces blended with thai chilis. Frequent this place pretty often. Have never had bad food, just slower service at times. Oysters shots ordered at extra spicy have the perfect kick. Seafood larb overpriced but admit flavors are spot on. Skip the fried rice. Overall, portion sizes can be inconsistent and prices are above average but have found none their equal when it comes to food.

I brought my son here last Friday. The good news is the food was okay. Not the best, not the worst. Most of the rolls are labeled spicy, but it's Minnesota level spice not actual spice. We agreed that the smokey roll we got was off putting, which was unfortunate. A roll we used to love in our home town in Kentucky was delivered flaming with a smokey flavor.

The bad news is the service was not very good at all. We both ordered coke. We were one of two groups in. There were more people working than eating so it was not one of those understaffed situations. The waitress never undertook it to refill our Coke or water and frequently asked us if we were done, wanted our check, etc. Then would tell us "no rush." Clearly there was a he'll of a rush. We were in about 45 minutes total. I asked for refills for our empty drinks. She brought those and a check "no rush. " we were still actively eating when she came to see if I had put in money or my card, "oh.. no rush."

The staff carried on loud conversations the entire time, two girls talking about men who wanted them etc etc. One guy having a loud conversation in the corner on his cell phone, which at least wasn't rude or Luke.

Just overall low class establishment with pretty mediocre food and low par service. If that's what you're into, you'll love Sushi Tango Woodbury.

This place will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s the very place where I met my now husband. I remember the first time I was here to try their food, everything was perfect. Miso was perfectly balanced. Sashimi and sushi are fresh. Wonderful staff and amazing sushi chefs.

We come back once in awhile for the nostalgia now. My husband definitely recommends the Ika Nigiri and of course, I’ll recommend my salmon sushi prepared by my favorite sushi chef Ace. (Ask him at the bar to make his special salmons for you. Gave me overseas sushi vibes).

Giving it a 4/5 because I don’t like everything on the menu. So it’s just my opinion. 5/5 for all my favorites but overall, not everything on the menu was delightful to me when I tried. I think I absolutely did not like the chicken katsu. I love chicken katsu but theirs was a no for me. So that’s where the final review lies.

Placed an online order and arrived to the restaurant on time, followed instructions to the pickup counter, stood there for 20 minutes and was not helped. I attempted to get the attention of staff but they were busy, and I had to get back to work so I left. I tried to call and let them know I wasn't going to be picking up the order, but 4 calls with no answer and their voicemail box was full. I understand that they're busy and understaffed but that doesn't justify being fully ignored.

It was edible. The sauce for the eggrolls and cream cheese wontons appear to be watered down chili sauce with no flavor. The rolls looked sad, and the crunchy tempura inside of the rolls was soggy rather than crunchy. I am disappointed since the sushi tango in uptown was delicious.

To start off, our server Alecia was great! He was very attentive and informative. I am sad to have a bad experience despite having a great server. The bartender "forgot" to make our drinks as I watched her for 20 minutes behind the bar. She even made a shot for the staff, including herself, to take but yet forgot my drink order. I really only come here for the drinks and oysters but couldn't get that. There was also a lady that was having extremely loud conversations with staff and customers that she knew using some inappropriate language. I don't think I will be back which is probably what the servers prefer.

I’m sad to leave this review but this place has gotten worse overtime. Table was sticky and when I asked for a new cup since there was stuff in our cups, a worker rudely took the cups. My shrimp tempura didn’t come out until the end of dinner, 45 mins, I couldn’t find a waiter to flag down for a long time and it was not a busy night. We made a reservation to sit outside but when we got there, they disregarded our reservation and didn’t allow us to sit outside. We were forced to sit inside in a busy area. (Which is fine but why have us reserve !?) Then my fav part was ruined when I found myself sick a couple hours after eating here. I think the oysters have lost its seasoning and sauce. They also made me super sick. It was an instinct stomach ache after eating the oysters so I couldn’t say it was anything else. 2 days later and I am still not feeling well from the seafood.
