Fired for refusing to not take off a black cap with an offensive white, simplified, cross on it. Mocked by the manager when telling guests and coworkers to have a blessed night.

Food is good for the price, but the environment can be toxic and unwelcoming.

Manager and staff really rude and disrespectul with our family. They need to learn some costume service skills. We were waiting for a table and we sat by the wrong one and instead of them pointing to us to our actual table the manager grabbed my husbands gloves and asked him to leave the table because we can’t decide where we want to seat! No manners, simply bad attitude!

Not very good ventilation. The air gets irritating to the eyes from the frying and cooking. Love the sushi. Lots of fun rolls!

I did a pick up order, and the attendant was already on the defense before I could talk. We requested an order of 5 salmon rolls to be picked up at 3:30pm. They prepared it at 2pm and had it sitting there. She told me they were not going to remake it because it was our fault for ordering it at 2pm??

If you're doing pick up, beware. It might be ready an hour before scheduled time or really late!

Sushi train downtown me and my family came in because our children love the train as they seen on tick tock and my mind was blown when the old Asian lady said it's a black family I know there not going to tip to her co worker. I felt uncomfortable but let the kids eat because they were so excited. But I will never go back here again and if you are of any color outside of white be prepared to get treated like nothing. The old Asian lady needs to retire because obviously she thinks it's still 1800's

This is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant where you get your sushi from a track, so I can expect limited service, but the service of just giving me chopsticks and refilling water is also very untimely here, so I did not leave a tip, and clearly used dash for the tip area, and copied the original amount on the total to indicate my intention not to pay a tip. However, when I checked my credit card bill today, I found that they had charged me an extra five dollars without my permission, and I will pursue legal responsibility for this restaurant.

We were there for dinner before a show. The restaurant was nowhere near full, yet the wait staff came by very rarely. There were lots of options, including a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Everything I had was good but not great. The ambience is like a cafeteria, including slightly unpleasant lighting (more fluorescent than warm). They count the plates from the train at the end to calculate your bill (one of my dining companions said it's nice to stack the empty plates by color to make the math easier since each color is a different price).

I will never comeback to this place again. I recently had a terrible experience at this place. My lady server was very RUDE, very RUDE. I took my children there last week since they love revolving sushi bar concept. My server warned me with her disrespectful voice if my kids touch anything and any damages will be charged into my bill. I personally think it was so rude saying it when we just sat down. Her tone was unacceptable that made my kids feel bad because they want to come here. We weren’t being cheap, when my child took a sip of my soda ( although he had other drink) , she informed us that drinks are not allowed to shared and would charge extra for other drink. She treated us like we were below her.
She didn’t even serve us right, she only brought a 2 chopsticks (we are party of 4). Also she didn’t bring us any wasabi and ginger. My lady server had the worst attitude and customer service. I was so disappointed. It was the worst experience ever.

This is one of our favorites when visiting. Today, however will be our last visit. I was meeting my husband who was attending a conference nearby. The host sat me at a table and then a lady came over harassing me about taking a seat without my party all being present. I was so uncomfortable and offered to go up front a wait (mind you there were 2 tables occupied in the entire restaurant). She was incredibly dismissive and told me there policy wasn’t to see until the full party is present. How am I supposed to know that, no one told me that they just took me to a table with menus. I ordered a drink and an appetizer while I waited. My dining partner was delayed at the conference and didn’t arrive for about 30 minutes. After about 25 minutes the lady came back and asked if I was still waiting because she didn’t want my server to be impacted on money. Again incredibly dismissive and very rude. I contemplated paying out and leaving. Ultimately I stayed, but felt uncomfortable the entire time. As a paying guest to be treated and spoken to in that manner is completely unacceptable and it made the environment toxic. Our server was fantastic and the food was delicious as always. That being said, I can’t support a business who addresses their customers in an unprofessional manner. So long sushi train!

Sushi train has the best customer service workers I’ve ever encountered! There was an issue with my order and the manager promised to provide a gift card after! I wish I could remember his name, I just got off the phone with him but he’s so nice and genuine and everything you’d want to talk to on the phone. The manager promised me a gift card so sushi train was 10/10 in my book until I called again tonight to inquire where the gift card is? The manager was such a B and when I asked to speak to another manager she screamed at me and said she was the manager and wouldn’t even listen to my complaint because she was so miserable. The beautiful radiant sweetheart of a man I spoke with earlier that week called me back to answer my questions in a professional respectful manner. Sushitrain, it’s beyond time to trim the fat ends and let the gold shine. I’ve been a bartender for 11 years and I love this man that is keeping your company afloat. Get rid of that person that screamed at me before she even knew the story pls. I’m sure all your employees are begging you to

It's been a long time since I've come here and now that I live in the area I thought I would again since Kura is farther. I would have to say that it was actually pretty disappointing. The sashimi is just HUGE slabs of fish that is really unpleasant to eat. At least an inch thick. Thicker if it's just one type of fish on the plate. Everything was warm or room temperature which also lent to the unpleasantness. I left feeling a bit ill. Despite all that, the selection is decent and the service was great.

My friend and I decided to stop by for lunch on our 2 day Minnesota trip. We arrived at 12 with plenty of seating options.

I wish I remembered the person's name who helped us but he was great! I loved the energy he brought to the space and was mindful of our table if we needed to clear any plastic covers or needed any recommendations from the belt/menu.

We enjoyed our time trying our favorites as usual. The fish was fresh and the workers prepping the dishes were working efficiently to make sure there wasn't a long wait for the ones you wanted to eat. We also tried the newer rolls we haven't seen before such as the Cajon roll! I personally really liked this one.

Definitely check the place out if your in the area or haven't had conveyer belt sushi before!

Do not trust this place with your credit or debit card!! Charges are posted 2-3 months after the purchase is made. My card was double charged THREE MONTHS after I was there. Beware.

Edit: Even with tech issues, it doesn't change the fact that an extra $100 was taken out of my account when my card was charged twice. This is unacceptable for a business and causes economic stress for me and its other customers, especially with such a large charge.

CHECK YOUR BANK
I genuinely enjoy the food and atmosphere and go every year when I go to anime detour. It's just that I am now getting charged after FOUR months, and I can understand a week or two but FOUR months!?! I really really hope they fix this issue because like I said it's a great place but I've never had this issue before, and it's happened to my brother and a lot of my friends :(

I went to this place during March of this year and everything was well and good but suddenly they took my money MONTHS after my visit here?! There was no warning nothing they never told me something like this could happen and even my own bank had never seen anything like this??? Why would they charge me months after the and not a week or two later or tell me the payment didn't go threw the day of? I'm very upset at whoever is in charge of taking care of the money there! It hasn't only happened to me but many of my friends aswell. Do not go here unless you want a surprise charge months later! Personally I would want a reason as to why they would charge months later and not like a week or 2 and even if it was a error on the computer, MONTHSSSSSS later for a damn charge is ridiculous!!!! The fact my own bank saw it as weird and "nothing like I've ever seen before" is not only terrifying as to what this business does with my card information and just gives me a bad vibe of this business or whoever is in charge. I NEED AN EXPLANATION NOW!!!

Absolutely fantastic. It's a really cool experience, easy to figure out and less stressful than other conveyor sushi places I've been to. Some of the best salmon sashimi I've ever had, and the Lychee Martini that was PHENOMENAL. Jerry was our server and he was so friendly, helpful, and kind, even though they were slammed.

Pricing is really reasonable and it's easy to customize what you spend. The cheap stuff is still really good, and it's easy to go and eat a full meal for whatever price you want to spend.

We went for dinner one night of our conference and then came back again the next day for lunch because we liked it that much. Next time I'm in town, I'm DEFINITELY coming back!!!

Great experience visiting from out of town. Venue felt inviting when I walked in, staff was warm and informative. Had the conveyor belt sushi which is ala carte by the plate, an interesting system that simultaneously encouraged trying new things and also sticking to what you already know you like. Once you grab a plate off of the belt it's automatically added to your bill via a chip in the plate (not really following how that works but cool)

My server kept my beverage full and did ask multiple times if I needed anything. I pride myself on being easy to work with.

Highlight was the sweet potato roll if I had to choose a favorite.

Decent sushi, though the char siu ramen could use some improvements. The broth was good and the toppings were fine. However, the noodles were overcooked and the egg was a hard boiled egg that lacked flavor and had a gritty texture. The edamame also wasn’t coated in salt and/or other seasoning.

This was a great experience! I went with my brothers to have dinner here and the food was excellent. Very fresh, and very balanced between fish, rice, nori, and avacados. The great thing too is that we ordered some fries and those fries came out FRESH and CRISPY. The fries are already pre-seasoned fries with paprika and various spices and herbs so great job on fry choice to the restaurant.
The service was great and our waitress gave us instructions on how to place orders for specific sushi that wasn't on the conveyor but once she gave us our drinks, we had to try to get the attention of our waiter for refills and placing orders for fries. However, she became more attentive to our table in regards to refilling our glasses afterwards.
The atmosphere here was great! There's great walk flow within the restaurant and even during dinner hours there was no waiting time. whether you sit in a booth or table and chairs you'll enjoy the atmosphere here. It was nice to see the sushi chefs preparing the selection of sushi and the little anime figurines.
In regards to cost, different color coated small plates cost a certain amount and also represents a higher or lesser grade of the sushi, and dessert being served on the small plate. Price per plate ranges from 2.50 and tops off at 6.95. We did not order other specialty sushi since we were satisfied already with the selection on the conveyor belt.
All in all, my brothers and I already have talked about coming back to Sushi Train in the future because this was a refreshing experience away from various dine in sushi restaurants that we have dined in. Sushi Train is definite MUST if you enjoy eating sushi. I look forward to trying the ramen when I dine here again.

We got about 13 plates not including a bowl of soup, a side that came with it, and an ice cream mochi dessert and the total was about $88. The conveyor belt idea is so creative and fun and I had such a good time! Will definitely be coming back.

Plan on finding parking. Not a lot of available parking next to it. May need to do some walking. If you have kids or disabled people, plan on dropping them first before looking for parking.

we got there the place was empty. all the employees were dilly dallying around in back while we waited 10 minutes to be seated. okd lady served had the worst attitude and the worst customer service. she was rude and obviously didnt wanna be there. she took FOREVER everytime. and started forcing a tip at the end. everyone slip their bill to what they got and when i realized i had left my card i asked my friends to spot me and she immediately threatened to call the police and push up against me. once she finally gave my friend the will to say she would pay she snatched my bill out of my hand and her and her little bimbo friend started talking trash. terrible terrible terrible experience WILL NOT be coming here again. and its the fact that i came here before when it was packed to the max and the customer services was excellent. this lady needs to be fired!!!!!!! HER NAME IS KERI

Decent sushi place with a very long queue during conference time. The sushi was fresh. They didn’t have premium parts like toro but it’s still pretty doable. The ramen bowl is super large and made me full on it’s own. The dishes came every like 9-10 minutes. My server forgot my order after 15 minutes she came back and asked me again so I ended up waiting 30 minute for a bowl of ramen.

We've been to other conveyor belt sushi concept restaurants and they all do it a little different. This one lacks the high tech almost cartoonist atmosphere others have and replaced it with a no frills experience where the sushi is the main focus. The food and flavors more than made up for the bells and whistles they lacked.

You come here for the experience, it’s really cool seeing all the plates of sushi pass you by on the belt as you enjoy the evening. I did find that the sushi is a bit over priced since they dont give you that much sushi per plate (about 4-5 pieces) and they charge by the plate color so no matter what you get on the plate you’re paying X dollars for it (watch out for low priced items on high priced plates).

The char siu ramen we ordered had zero spice, and they apparently dont have hot chili oil. I dont think I’ve ever been to an asian restaurant without chili oil, but they did have Sriracha so they redeemed themselves there. The bowl comes with a hard boiled egg, the yolk was completely cooked so I didnt have the satisfaction of cutting into a soft boiled egg and watching the yolk pour out into the ramen. Besides the lack of spice and no soft boiled egg, the rest of the food was good.

I got a spicy salmon bowl I believe and that was really good. The spice for this item was about what I expected, you can taste it but nothing that’ll make you hurt.

The service was good but when I called the restaurant to see if we left behind a coat, I got a really passive aggressive attitude from the person who picked up. Most likely won’t go back here but I’d say it was worth going to once.

I've been here a few times but this was the first with more than 2 people. They will not seat you until your entire group arrives, which we did not know. Thing is space is limited to wait and the bar area really doesn't have much room for customers. Should consider taking reservations for certain group size if this is the policy.

I went there during lunch with the large group of people. Sushi rolls were good. There were other dessert menu or vegan menu. Server explained well how to use sushi train etc. The issue came when he tried to calculate # of plates. He told me tip was not automatically calculated for group and there was no surcharge for employee retention fee etc. So I paid 15% Tips. When i came home, i saw $20 extra charge on my credit card. I am not sure the server thinks it is okay to charge extra $$ since we were group of people and i might not care but I was disappointed. Be aware if you are planning to go with 10+ group. It is still good for date night place since u can keep track of yr # of plates.

I will NEVER come back to this place again. The manger was talking to me like I was complete child and I said I didn’t appreciate her tone and she proceeded to yell at me in front of the entire restaurant. I asked for a new waiter and that made her even more mad. I asked to speak with management and of course she was the manger. She even asked me who I want to serve me and I said who I wanted and she proceeds to say “I fired that girl for drinking on the job and stealing”. Which is completely unprofessional to say in front of customers. The way she treated me was like I was below her and like I was in trouble for taking a plate. If you care about a positive experience and want to enjoy your meal STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION. I would give 0 stars if that is possible.

I love tipping, don't get me wrong,
but I felt that the server knew there was already a surcharge for big groups and didn't refill our waters until the end end. Also, they forgot an order we put in, the only order we put in. (Was a slow day)

Service
- Nice lady ++
- surcharge perhaps got them slacking who knows, but it be nice out of their own will to provide water on rounds be good.
- forgot the 1 order.

Food:
4/5 - Was good, wasn't mind blowing perfect, better than buffets at least.

Would I come back?
Nah. It was a good experience, though.

My family had a wonderful time here we bravely brought our two toddlers and felt like it was too much for them to handle at first however our server Jerry was more than accommodating, he made us feel comfortable, and showed us the kids could draw in chalk on a wall if they needed to stretch their legs and let mom and dad finish eating. Jerry made us feel welcome, took great care of us, and the food was excellent as usual. Our family will be back!

I should have made this review long ago. Back in September 2023: I had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Train in downtown Minneapolis, and it was an experience that left a lasting impression for me and my friends. While I am not a large sushi person myself more of the Ramen type all of my party raved about all the sushi they ate. You can see the stack of plates we devoured attached.

What sets Sushi Train apart is not just the exceptional food but also the unique dining experience it offers. The concept of a sushi train circulating the restaurant adds an exciting and interactive element to the meal. It's a must-try for anyone looking to elevate their dining adventures.

However, what truly made our evening exceptional was the outstanding service provided by our waiter, Tanya. Her warm demeanor and genuine enthusiasm added an extra layer of enjoyment to the entire dining experience. Tanya's attentiveness, coupled with her humor, created a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. If she is no longer working there Sushi Train lost one of their bests.

In a city filled with dining options, Sushi Train stands out as a gem. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking not only delectable Japanese cuisine but also a memorable and entertaining dining experience, thanks to the exceptional service and memories I will never forget Tanya!

I visit the Twin Cities with my girlfriend every summer, and we always eat here because the food is delicious and still is. Our waitresses have always been very nice and I gladly tip them 20% of the check for their hard work. However, the last time we were in the Twin Cities, I called the restaurant to ask if they could recommend any parking nearby (we do not live here). I said hello, and the lady that picked up the phone said hi to me back in a friendly way. As soon as I asked her if they could recommend some parking nearby, she paused, then immediately hung up on me. I was dumbfounded, I assumed it was an accident but when I tried to call back, no one answered after waiting in hold for a while. So we went to the Eagan location instead. A shame considering we love the restaurant’s food and conveyer belt, but I will not forget how I was treated over the phone.
