We came here for lunch after I had a previously undesirable late night dinner here. Nicole followed up and provided amazing customer service after this occurrence. Nicole is a glowing example of what a manager should be. She truly cares about your guest experience and I applaud her for that. My waitress was Lora. She was attentive, kind and well knowledgeable of the menu. We got the Michele Chiarlo Nivole Moscato D’Asti wine to drink. I am not a wine/liquor drinker generally but this wine was amazing. It tasted very fruity and is now my favorite wine. I got a roll, sashimi, and a salad. My husband got a roll as well. The sashimi was the best I have ever had. It was extremely fresh and devine. When I ate the sashimi I felt chills as it was a phenomenal experience since it was the best sashimi I have ever had. The asian salad was very flavorful and very refreshing. The crab crunch roll was a soft roll with a great crunch. The rice was perfectly cooked for the roll and the sashimi. We shared the carrot cake for dessert. It was amazing and paired well with the plated raspberries.

The happy hour is really the only time I would go there. The happy hour is great. The difference in price and quality on dinner is crazy though. $21 for avocado egg rolls, and most apps same price. This is the steak entree. Cut in half steak, no vegetables, horrible presentation. I'm not sure why anyone would go there if it wasn't for the happy hour. The prime rib was the tiniest sliver I've ever seen I wished I took more pictures of everyone's food.

I ordered the salmon with fried rice. VERY DISAPPOINTED with this over-priced dish. The salmon was over cooked, the sauce was OK on the salmon but made the rice VERY sweet, almost inedible! Won't go there again!

** Oct, 2024 update ** Restaurant manager did reach out and apologized for my bad experience with this dish. She was VERY nice and even offered to buy my wife and me dinner!

The ribeye steak & potatoes were seasoned very well, the steak was rare when I ordered medium rare however. The crab crunch roll was good as well. Service was slow but everything was accurate.

Just a heads up, if you use the tablets at the table there is a charge. There aren't any obvious signs or warnings on it that let you know but it will be added to your bill, a bit unethical in my opinion.

I spent 49 dollars on hard blubber of sushi. I ordered two Picasso rolls, to go, and sat while they prepared it and quickly went home with it. The tuna on top is inedible. It is so hard, I’m literally assuming this is what blubber tastes like, and it is unevenly cut. I also found plastic in my roll. I used to love this place. The quality has gone downhill so much that it’s basically inedible. I have attached photos of the plastic and what I can only assume was whale blubber on this review.

Waited entirely too long to be acknowledged, but the manager checked in and handled the situation well. The prime rib was very flavorful, but my medium rare was medium well - which would be easy to do with how thin the steak was cut.

Great atmosphere! I love the overall ambiance of the restaurant. I came here for the first time last week and I was not impressed. I ordered the cucumber salad, lobster Mac and cheese, rice and California Roll. The cucumber salad and the California roll was probably the best but the quality tasted rather cheap vs the price. The quality doesn’t match what they charge for each item which I believe is extremely overpriced. The rice I got was super hard and tasted as if it was heated and the Mac and cheese was extremely cheese and it tasted very similar to crafts Mac and cheese. I don’t think I would return. However, I had Sake that was citrus lemon and it was absolutely amazing!!! Best sake I’ve ever had.

I’ve come here several times throughout the last few years and ALWAYS have a good experience. The staff, the food, everything about it is always amazing. Tonight, I went in and one of the items I ordered was accidentally dropped in the back kitchen, which caused a little wait as it got remade. The management and waitress went above and beyond to make it up to us and did so well!! Very very happy with this and every other experience I’ve had here!

The food was very overpriced and mediocre at best. Both mine and my wife's dishes came out luke warm. Her steak was over cooked and dry. My potatoes that came with my ribeye were undercooked and hard. I don't usually leave a poor review even if I'm not satisfied but based on our experience, we will not be going back.

Tonight at Kona Grill I had one of the best dining experiences ever!! My server Shane was so insightful when it came to the menu and picked out the perfect dish for me!! I was blown away by her customer service and hospitality!! The General Manager Miranda also stopped by my table and spent a good part of dinner talking with the two of us!! She was so easy to talk to and really went above and beyond to make our dining experience the best. I will recommend this place to everyone I know!

I stopped into Kona grill and I was promptly greeted by a young lady who seemed to be the manager. I was sat and Leia greeted us right away and got me and my wife our drinks very fast. She got our order in and the food seemed speedy fast. Everything was so delicious we got the calamari and split the macadamia nut chicken and a crunchy spicy tuna roll. My expectations were beyond met and leia was so sweet and attentive, I will be back to see her and to get more of the delicious food.

My husband and I stayed home for Christmas this year instead of visiting family, so we were excited to see that this restaurant was open and featuring a Christmas menu. I ordered the prime rib, medium rare, which was supposed to come with horseradish mashed potatoes. A while after I ordered, the bartender informed me that they didn't have a full order of the mashed potatoes left, and I let her know that those were the main reason I ordered that dish. She said they'd still give me what they had left, and I could choose another side. That seemed fair, so I ordered the mac and cheese. When my food came out, the prime rib was so overcooked that it was grey and might as well have been made of rubber. It was beyond well done. There was no jus, no horseradish. There were zero mashed potatoes, and the mac and cheese was a bowl of butter noodles with about a tablespoon of melted shredded cheese on top. Without having firsthand experience, the dish was the quality of what I imagine would be served in a jail. I asked the bartender what happened to me getting the partial portion of mashed potatoes and showed her how overcooked the prime rib was. She unapologetically stated "oh, yeah, I guess there are no mashed potatoes, and we can make you a new one." At that point my husband and I were not willing to waste anymore time on this place, so I ate a few bites of my food, and we left. I didn't even bother to stay and finish my $16 drink. They still charged full price for everything, $103 dollars for the worst restaurant meal I have ever seen plus 2 drinks and a roll, and we actually overheard the bartender badmouthing us for complaining about the food as we walked out. Having spent 10 years in the service industry, I can safely say this is the first time in my life I've ever not left a tip, and we will never set foot in this place again.

I'm very disappointed with this place. I wanted so badly to like it, especially with all the glowing reviews it had.

I will say that the service from our waitress was wonderful, though it did bother me that we were sat at table where a cold draft would blow through every time the entrance door was opened, given that we had an toddler with us and the restaurant was not very full at all. The hostess even made a comment about it being too cold in the area.

On to the food. I expected so much more, given the pricing. The appetizers were incredible and gave us such high hopes! We got the calamari and potstickers, and they were definitely worth every penny. The entrees, however.... my husband ordered the prime rib and shrimp, I ordered the 6 oz filet. Both came with the mashed potatoes. Nothing was well-seasoned, nor did it have much flavor on its own. My husband's steak was ocercooked, and the mashed potatoes just tasted spicy. Literally no flavor. Honestly, I had a taste of my toddler's food and that was much tastier that the entrees my husband and I received.

Overall, I paid nearly $200 for some really great appetizers, and the absolute blandest steaks I've ever had. So disappointing.

I ordered online pick up on Saturday December 7 I had ordered a seasonal item on their menu. My husband drove all the way over there just for a man who says he's the manager to tell me this item (thanksgiving turkey sliders) is no longer on the menu. He said he's process the refund and it will take a couple of days. IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY MONEY. Terrible management and restaurant they could have had the decency to call immediately after receiving my money to tell me you no longer have this item on your menu. Instead you take ppl money and refuse to refund them. Thief

Prices have gone up since 2 years ago.. Good Happy Hour, HH prices. Good sushi. But selection and prices were much better in the past. Food prices going up like everything. There is no reason to go back to Kona. I used to go here multiple times a month. The food quality has been in decline for a while. Now they removed the Bama Roll from the menu ( as well as happy hour). I used to love this place, but now it is time to find a better shushi place.

The staff the day I was there learned very quickly about severe food allergies, they genuinely were understanding and I don't think most people understand the importance of server awareness. I was in town visiting my sister. We had not been here for about 5 years. Used to be busy, only about 3 tables at 6pm dinner. The price is high, seems they are charging more to make up for less business. Service was slower than we remembered, guessing hard to staff with limited customers. The lemon garlic penne was amazing! It was truly the best pasta I’ve ever had. The flavor and presentation were beautiful. Everything tasted so fresh and the service was great! Mackenzie was so kind and delightful, I really enjoyed her as a server! The atmosphere is so nice and peaceful. I really loved everything about Kona Grill and I highly recommend trying it out!

Time has taken its toll on KG. It used to be the place to go—now it’s pretty bad.

First—the menu prices have increased 30-40%. There’s a reason they don’t have prices on their site. Be prepared to pay over $30 for Pad Thai and $40 for fish and chips.

I could understand higher prices if the service and food were great. Both were not.

There was no host at the host stand when we got there at 7. People were actually lining up and just looking around in disbelief. It was not busy; I’m being generous by saying there were five seated tables with about 4 wait staff.

Our server was friendly, but would disappear for 20 mins at a time. Water and other drinks were constantly out. Sake came out in a shooter glass. Again, they were not busy at this time and were congregating at the kitchen pass.

The food was fine. The green beans were tasty, but lukewarm. The sweet & bleu salad was good. The Picasso Roll was a bit disappointing for the price ($24) in terms of taste and presentation.

Overall, it was an experience that was supposed to be celebratory, but the atmosphere made it a bit dreary. We probably won’t be back.

Went there on a Saturday with 6 people and we all got the 3 course meal for restaurant week. 1st course food was great 4 out of 6 were served 3 poke bowl 1 sushi than the meatballs after 10 minutes than another 5 minutes to get the salad. 2nd course 5 out of 6 were served 3 tuna were ordered but only 2 came out not until after another 10 minutes the 3rd tuna was delivered. Deserts was the only thing that came out at the same time after waiting another 10 minutes for it. All in all disappointing went there round 6 and didn't leave until 830. Most likely not going back

The restaurant was beautiful. We sat at the bar, there were the two of us and two people on the other side. The bartender took at least 5 minutes before she even acknowledged us. We ordered a drink and then had to flag her down just to get another drink and put in a food order. It took 45 minutes for us to get our order even though they were not many people there. The food was good but the wait time and the service needs improvement.

Bartender was great. But worst food I’ve had in so long. I used to love this place. The prices are RIDICULOUS. Pad Thai was $30! Wildfire and Crave are both cheaper. I’ll NEVER go back. Everything about my burger was awful. Seriously, save your money, or go across the street to Wildfire or Crave. Never ever again. I’m disgusted and very disappointed.

Updated 10/12/24. Last Friday night around 645 pm. Went back to Kona, sat down at the sushi bar, and didn't get a server in a reasonable time despite the sushi chefs signalling the main room and asking for help. A glass of water to start would have been great! Instead for the second time in last 3 visits we just walked out. I really think mgmt doesnt care- service remains disorganized. Went to another local venue with reliable service and food and had a great time instead. Also I have to mention the sushi rolls look to be averaging $20+ each here and the sake menu is like 4 dull choices (chilled choices). A steady decline in quality, with increasing costs for me means low value. Many better options at this point. Sorry Kona!!

Older reviews: Over the years seems to have lost a little luster. Wait staff is friendly and casual and a little inconsistent. Folks working the sushi are solid. Last few visits the customer side of the sushi bar seems to be dirty and unmanaged. Roughly the same price point as Crave but it just doesnt seem as nice or as fresh as Crave. Maybe we got there after the happy hour rush...

We then sat there for about 10 minutes while the servers were messing around laughing around the corner. Occasionally they'd peak around the corner and look at us like we're zoo animals. No drink order taken, much less food.

Food is good - just really expensive for what you get. Examples: miso soup is $13 (most sushi places charge $3-5), edamame costs $14 (typically $6-8), a basic California roll is $15. I'm not opposed to expensive food, but in this case it's average sushi and food at high-end prices without any upside.

They have a good happy hour - that'd probably be what I'd recommend if you do come here!

I had the pleasure of having Kody as my bartender the night I wondered into Kona. He was super attentive yet patient while I made my choices. However, I’m anaphylactic to seafood/fish, didn’t really think this one through if you know what I mean haha. Kody on the other hand ASSURED me without a benefit of a doubt that there was food I would be able to enjoy while I sipped my beer. He even went back himself to make sure that there was no chance I would have any cross contamination. It was super generous of him and to be above and beyond because I’ve never had a server or bartender go “double check”. Will definitely be back more frequently with friends for this type of experience alone!

Visited not too long ago and was very impressed! The service we received from Kody was EXCELLENT! He was knowledgeable and so friendly! The burger I ordered was great as well, we will definitely be back!

The parking signs were confusing. It almost looked like you couldn’t park in front of the restaurant after 2 pm . The staff said that was a common complaint. So change it… but ok. The restaurant looked nice and kinda fancy. The dinner menu was interesting. Kinda high for what we got. My husband had the sea bass and sprouts tasty but small for the price you paid . I had the prime rib which came with plain mashed potatoes. Waitress asked what temperature I said rare to
Medium rare and got well done. And it was soooo thin. I have had way better at outback for a heck of a lot less money. I was too hungry and she was too nice so I didn’t send it back or complain. We had two ice teas other than that which totaled over 100 dollars. It all tasted good but not that good and more importantly we ate more on the way home because everything was so small and expensive. If you stick to the specials it probably would be better but we won’t be going back. Oh .. my husband made a joke about the size of everything to the waitress and without us asking our waitress sent the manager over. Next thing we knew this lady was standing in front of our table and just stood there. She did not introduce herself or ask about how we were doing. When WE asked how we could help her She just said oh your waitress said you needed something. She was nice enough once we got that she was the manager but it was kinda awkward. No real effort to fix or listen to anything. I think it was just doomed from the beginning of the parking situation.

Got the Ribeye and it was abysmal. I think it was microwaved quite a bit too. With it being $44 it was a crime, especially since it’s only a 12 oz.

Waiter was super nice. Pretty sure they don’t have A/C. Super hot and muggy.

We went in for dinner and had an amazing experience! We got two rolls to share and they both tasted great. Our server Olivia was very attentive and helpful throughout our experience. Would definitely dine here again!

We went for the happy hour today and the food was spectacular . The service was even better. Katie was quick and paid very good attention to specifics of our order. The place for people who have high standards. Will continue to come here because good service is hard to come by.

I came to visit from out of town and heard this was a good place to try. I was blown out of the water with the service and food, will definitely be coming back. My server Rachael said she was new but I would have guessed she worked there for years. Amazing service.

We came here for lunch after I had a previously undesirable late night dinner here. Nicole followed up and provided amazing customer service after this occurrence. Nicole is a glowing example of what a manager should be. She truly cares about your guest experience and I applaud her for that. My waitress was Lora. She was attentive, kind and well knowledgeable of the menu. We got the Michele Chiarlo Nivole Moscato D’Asti wine to drink. I am not a wine/liquor drinker generally but this wine was amazing. It tasted very fruity and is now my favorite wine. I got a roll, sashimi, and a salad. My husband got a roll as well. The sashimi was the best I have ever had. It was extremely fresh and devine. When I ate the sashimi I felt chills as it was a phenomenal experience since it was the best sashimi I have ever had. The asian salad was very flavorful and very refreshing. The crab crunch roll was a soft roll with a great crunch. The rice was perfectly cooked for the roll and the sashimi. We shared the carrot cake for dessert. It was amazing and paired well with the plated raspberries.

Happy hour menu looks like good prices on the surface but they’re not worth the money. Portions are very small. Service was non-existent and felt like the bartenders were more concerned with cleaning glasses or any other task than to inquire about how our food was or get another drink.

Uber eats failed us but the staff at the restaurant went above and beyond to make it right! 10/10 for their manager and wait staff! Our new favorite place when we visit the cities!

Waited 45 mins for our food to come out.
I ordered a miso soup and it was literally so cold when it came out. Also ordered a ribeye (medium) and it was wayyy over cooked. Told the server to bring it back and asked nicely for him to bring me a new one. Waited 30 mins for my steak to come back and by that time I was already wanting to go home.
Also got bit by so many mosquitos, they left the front door open and so many bugs came inside and bit my whole family up.

Definitely not worth the money either food was very bland, cold or soggy.

Hope this helps anyone, this is probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant.

I enjoy coming here during happy hour; however, the food is typical American fare and doesn’t merit the high prices. The restaurant is kid friendly, and the bento boxes are a great option for kids.

Shrimp tacos were great, sliders were good. Pad Thai not so much, a bit too soggy (too much sauce compared to the noodles/meat), missing the high heat / charred smokiness that common in stir fry Asian dishes.

To say the least it felt like such a different experience then what I have experienced in the past( 1-2 years ago)
On a Saturday at 6:00 pm with good weather, and yet it was practically dead… I was surprised that it took forever to get my food which was not correct (and by the time we got our food so much had already gone wrong) so when they finally brought my correct order everyone was finished eating, including three young children (so if you have children, and you’ve gone out to eat you know how bad this was). The floor manager attempted to do a solid by me which was appreciated and the bus man also tried to soften the issues by being friendly and engaging, yet the incompetence and the unbelievably over priced experience was not negated. I will say that I was shocked to experience this level of ridiculous service at this restaurant in this city. Kona corporate, whoever you are, you have made some major mistakes and lost sight of what you originally were.
P.S. to explain how much this was not enjoyed, I have never left a review EVER for ANYTHING. That’s how much I am displeased. We will not be coming back.

Just ok in my opinion. Took a while to get our food which was surprisingly undercooked. I got the chicken satay, no color on the chicken at all. My companion steak also wasn't right. The waitress was amazing and gracious. Also cool bathrooms. Idk if I'll be back, though.

I order the taste of Kona that included 5 dishes . The food was supposed to be ready at 4pm but they gave me the food at around 4:30. ( they were not busy at all. Only three couples eating when I got there) Also, the food was just ok. Too expensive for what they give you. Nothing special

My family and I love going to Kona Grill! It is always a pleasant experience! The food is always done to our liking and the service is over the top. The other night our server Siri was very sweet and checked in with us when needed. She kept my kids smiling the whole night! THANK YOU!

The food here is always good, but I wanted to go out of my way to mention the amazing service Siri gave my husband and I last night. A great server changes the whole experience of a meal! We felt so taken care of, and her bubbly attitude made our night that much more worthwhile. She was excited to serve us and was such a bright light in our night. One word....WOW

We had a 6:15 reservation. We ordered an appetizer, and 45 minutes later it still was not there. The server was great, and very apologetic, and she seemed embarrassed. We then got our main course about an hour into us arriving, but still not getting the appetizer. There was 5 in our party, and 3 of us got our food and ate. Then the sushi came out, and lastly, the appetizer that we ordered. We paid $249 before tip, and the food was mediocre, and the portions were very small. We all left hungry. Again, the server was wonderful, but the manager remained in the kitchen, and never came out to address any issues with the customers. It took nearly 1.5 hours to eat, and the food was just average. It's very disappointing to wait that amount of time, not get to eat together, and get the appetizer after the meal, especially with the prices of the food. Very disappointed!
