Sushi AYCE and hibachi restaurant
My girlfriend and I always come here for the all you can eat sushi. The sushi, and Sashimi are always super good and I haven’t had anything I dislike yet. The servers are super attentive and kind, no matter who we get. The food comes out in a timely manner. Cocktails are always mixed and balanced well. The restaurant always seems very clean and I always see tables being bussed. Definitely worth the price.

One of the best all you can eat sushi places in the cities! I love that they also have appetizers and desserts on the all you can eat menu. It’s a pretty good deal if you order an amount that you can actually eat (they do charge extra if you don’t finish a roll). The sushi itself isn’t the best I’ve ever had but $23 per person for a lunch on the weekend? You can’t beat that!! My favorite roll was the Yum Yum and really enjoyed the green tea ice cream at the end.

Food was great but be forewarned regarding their leftovers policy. I have submitted a photo of an order a friend and I placed on their all you can eat menu (you be the judge) which was significant, as we were very hungry, but we were short four pieces. The waitress, which I believe was trying to be nice, pretty much said “I will not bring you your check until you eat your food” which was weird in and of itself, but I guess her heart was in the right place because she was warning us that we would get charged $1 per leftover piece.
I politely gestured to the manager who came over and showed him all the food we had ordered and how we did not eat the pieces because we did not like it that much. He did waive the surcharge, but proceeded to give us a lecture on the current price of salmon and how a lot of teenage girls will place big orders on the all you can eat menu and then ask for them to box them to take home. It was a very weird experience. I kept telling him that we understood and it was OK, but he would just further go into multiple examples on why they have that policy and that they have cameras and get into trouble with the owners if they see uneaten food that goes un-billed. I have to say it was a weird and awkward experience.
We spent $80 between two people and tipped generously which was more than enough to cover for the order of food. We did not need to be made that uncomfortable. But like I told the manager “we understand”…I guess.

Everything was great. The food was excellent, with large portions. Our server was attentive. Service was quick and accurate.
And of course, the chef did an excellent job. Great performance and great cooking.
We had a full table of eight, with ages from 8 to 65, and everyone enjoyed the whole experience.

I recently had an unplanned dinner at this charming restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Lulu, who was incredibly attentive and made our dining experience exceptional.
The food was fresh and delicious, and the All-You-Can-Eat option for $29.95 +tax was a fantastic deal. Highly recommend

The place is dead quiet on a Friday night. The sushi’s were soft and taste fishy. The sushi rice is undercooked and disgusting. The girl who was waiting was plain rude and no where to be found after the initial order. It wasn’t like the place was busy. Just glad none of us got sick.

Hibachi was such a fun experience! Our chef made the entire night enjoyable and got plenty of laughs out of us. We felt a little rushed when the cleaning guy came over and started scrubbing the grill in front of us (which did not smell great)… Otherwise, it was a great dinner! I would definitely recommend making reservations!

Food is great but I think they take way too long on purpose to bring the food out after you eat some food they have already brought you to make you fill up faster. I ordered 4 easy rolls and it’s been 30 minutes I’ve been waiting and there’s only 6 other people dining here for lunch. I just ate dumplings and noodles. They have to be taking this long to fill me up faster.

Have gone two times, the first time we went during lunch and had a good time. However we told some friends and went back last night and had the complete opposite experience. We were seated and everything was normal not a super busy night and everyone around seemed to be enjoying themselves however i order the AYCE sushi and our server never checked in on our table, we had to ask other staff to place orders for me. The one time i asked for more ginger she brought a mountain of it and i asked the table if it felt like she didn’t want to serve us or if that was so she wouldn’t have to come back in case i needed more…. Food took quite some time even when food started to arrive it all came out at different times and some of us would be sitting without any food at times and the first person to get food obviously finished way before the other two (one of whom had a 5pc sushi plate and the filet mignon appetizer. Even when we were ready to pay she dropped the checks off and ran off so i just took them to be paid at the front and expressed my discomfort with the manager who said “she’s stressed with another table” while i understand where he’s coming from we felt disrespected and that we couldn’t order what we came to due to the lack of service she would run past us without asking if we needed anything until the very end when we made up our mind to leave.

The all you can eat sushi is an absolutely amazing deal! For right at $30, I expected the quality or portions to be degraded from rolls at other restaurants but that was not the case. To make it even better, you can order appetizers (I recommend the crab ragoon!), entrees or dessert as part of the AYCE, all for the same price that just 2 rolls cost at most other places. The server we had was awesome as well. We were visiting from out of town but I can guarantee every time we visit the Cities, we’ll be making a stop at Samurai!
Visited 4 months ago
They only allow you to order 3 rolls at a time even with all you can eat. They strategically do this so you don’t eat too much which is okay. But if it’s all you can eat and they charge you for left over what does it matter. Left without ordering. Would not recommend all you can eat

Ordered the sushi deluxe which the server described every piece when it arrived. From my experience, not many sushi restaurants do this and it was a very nice touch. There was a couple pieces I didn't like a lot, but they were better with more soy/wasabi. With the misogyny soup and salad, it was a very filling meal.

We discovered this place recently and we go once a week, we love it, everything has been fantastic regarding the food, but the waitress simply saw that she doesn't treat us the same as the others, she didn't even care if we took up something, we She made faces when we called her, and she seemed a little upset when ordering several times, the reason we order several times is because we don't want to leave food, so we order little by little, my husband and I have a painting company so Sometimes we wear work clothes, we simply want to have something delicious for dinner after work, it doesn't mean we can't afford it, or that's how the waitress who served us made us feel

They are scammers, please check your bill before you pay. They charged me a $30 tip for dining in at the table for 2 people. I always tip my servers based on the service. The service was okay but the food was trash. They use too much oil & salt in their food. I ended getting a food poisoning. A report has been made to the FDA & FSA, I’m disgusted

I like to focus on positives but this was the worst sushi I’ve ever had. Went at noon on sept 18th and all the sushi had an odd additional taste to it - my friend and I tried to figure out what that awful taste was. All we could conclude was that they either hit low quality fish or more likely stored it in a manner where it had absorbed other scents and flavors of things around it. Thankfully we did not get sick.

The sushi was amazing! We will absolutely be back for that! The service and atmosphere were a bit meh. The food made up for that! The hibachi was hibachi, nothing out of this world. So if your going I suggest you eat the crab puffs and the yum yum rolls!

Just a heads up - make sure you double-check what's being charged on your card. So, I was a little bummed out about this restaurant because we've been here a bunch of times and usually love it. Don't get me wrong, the food is still amazing.
Anyway, we popped in for the lunch buffet after my surgery and our receipt showed around $41.23. But when our card was charged, it came out to $49.58. No extra charge for leftovers though.
I talked to our server and she reprinted the receipt before we added a tip. She said it might be because we used a card and there was a fee. The manager came by and explained they pre-authorize it to make sure we have enough money on the card. I mentioned that gas stations only do that when you pay at the pump, not inside. He said it would be fixed in a few days. I always tip, but if a restaurant is gonna add gratuity, they should let us know and give us a new bill.
I've never had a place do this without warning us first. I'll keep an eye on the card to see if there's an extra $10 tip added or if it all evens out to $52.23. Just gonna have to wait and see.
Will be updating in a few days.

We really enjoyed our experience. We did the AYCE deal, I think it was worth it. Everyone in the reviews is correct though, that you must eat everything or you’ll be charged extra. So, best rule of thumb is to take it easy and pace your ordering. 😄 The hibachi fried rice was SO GOOD, yum yum sauce amazing. Everything was great. Sushi a bit rice heavy but fillings weren’t scant by any means.

- sushi were BIG portions with lots of rice wrapped around (which mean we couldn’t really try many rolls cuz we got full easily)
- we left about 5 sushi rolls leftover, they didn’t charge us for waste
- the vibe isn’t like Kyoto it’s not very busy (staff is usually just standing around waiting) went on a Friday 5:45pm
- location is close to target, fresh thyme and CFA which is cool (off of 494)
- we made the mistake of ordering chicken wings, squid salad and crab salad to try which not good
- habachi is pretty loud in the background

I made reservations for a group of 8. My son lives in another state, so to celebrate his birthday, he picked a halfway point for our family to meet. He picked this restaurant. My youngest is also out of state, which is over an 8 hour drive away and he wanted to surprise us and join. I did call and ask if it was ok I added 1 more to our reservation and they said it would work. That was wonderful!
Earlier in the day, they contacted me asking if we wanted a hibachi table, or if we were going to just eat sushi. I explained that there were maybe a couple that will order sushi, but the rest will order hibachi food. The manager told me that as long as the majority were ordering hibachi, it was fine. At no time did she clarify what ordering sushi meant. She didn't say that it couldn't be all you can eat sushi, she didn't say that if anyone orders sushi, it's the actual individual order of sushi. Nowhere on the website does it state any restrictions for ordering all you can eat sushi (there is a restriction if you are there on your birthday and it falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, they will not honor their birthday special-we were there on my son's birthday, but it was a Friday. Oh well). So it comes time to order, we are about half way through our group ordering and my birthday boy asks for all he can eat sushi. He is told he can't, unless he sits in another area of the restaurant. The rest of the table is ordering hibachi. As you know, this is a fun experience and performance. We ask if we can stay at the hibachi table since 7 out of the 8 want hibachi, they said no. We ask the manager and explain that we've all traveled quite a distance to meet and we were all excited to try their restaurant. We are trying to celebrate a family birthday and 3 of our 8 guests live out of state to travel here, could we please stay at the hibachi table and let our guest of honor eat the all you can eat sushi. They said No. They offered nothing to compensate, other than moving our whole party (which was my immediate family-3 kids out of state and my husband and I who live in MN and the 3 grandparents) to a table where sushi can be eaten-even though on the phone the manager told me it would be ok. But they did not say that all you can eat sushi guests can sit at the same table as hibachi eaters (unless you are ok without the entertainment). My son, being the big hearted young man he is, didn't want his family to miss out on the experience since they all traveled (himself included) the distance to celebrate him. So he just ordered hibachi so our group could stay. Again, no offer of a discount, or compensation of any kind. We were calmly talking to the manager about how it was never stated, either over the phone during our conversation or on their website. My 70+ year old mom (in a kind voice) told her that she was going to leave a review to share her thoughts. That's when the manager got snippy and turned to my mom and said, "You can't talk to me that way". I was taken back by that response.
In summary...easy to reserve online, I appreciated the phone calling asking about our seating preference, I appreciated their willingness to add our reservation of 7 to 8 people. The chef was great and the food was wonderful, but because of the rules of the all you can eat sushi not posted, nor explained during our conversation (other than people can order sushi, but the majority need to order hibachi if seated at a hibachi table) and the rudeness of the manager and no offer to compensate or apologize...I will not be returning.

I ate here last Wednesday night and got the AYCE for dinner. I had come here in the past and the quality was somewhat mediocre. But when I returned on Wednesday, it was much better. It was more like restaurant quality, rather than all you can eat quality. Although I will say, age 11 and above you have to pay the adult price of $30 for dinner. That seems pretty ridiculous. An 11 year old eats much less food than a full grown adult, so keep value in mind when you come here.

It's now called Samurai, don't get confused with the original restaurant that has now become Benihana. Even this review came up as "Osaka". It's not the old Samurai, but it's not yucky Osaka either. I like the fact that if you're a couple and don't want to sit with strangers around the grill you can choose to sit at a table or booth alone & have the meal made elsewhere. The food was good, but was VERY surprised that they changed is for a green tea, and steamed rice. Which ALWAYS came automatically with your meal AND dessert at the other place. Only when you receive your bill will you discover all the extra charges! Personally, I feel they charge enough for the meal that they can afford to throw in the green tea...even if they don't give you the dessert.

We appreciated being seated without a reservation and the friendliness of staff. However, the staff may have had too many tables to support because the timing of food was off and there was a long delay getting the check. The food was ok but not outstanding and sushi pieces were enormous. I would rather have really fresh tasty sushi that is properly bite sized than massive overstuffed pieces that don’t allow the ingredients to shine. I don’t think we will be back.

AYCE Lunch menu is the best one out of all sushi buffets. I think this location used to be Osaka. We were pleasantly surprised to find they serve All You Can Eat lunch or dinner menus, as well as their regular menu options. I will mention that their Sashimi slices were decent in size. And, their menu specifies that you must eat the items you order, including the rice, if you're eating off the AYCE menu.
Visited a year ago
My family and I enjoy sushi. We usually try to find AYCE places since it's a better "bang for our buck" with the amount we order if we did a la carte. The location was previously a different asian/sushi restaurant, so I wasn't expecting much. The decor was nice, service was nice, floors were strangely sticky? The speed of food was a little slow, we did a variety of pretty much the entire menu (excluding hand rolls). I recommend skipping on the fried items. Took too long, and anything that needed to be cooked was overcooked. But the rolls/sashimi/sushi items were big and delicious. Good variety with items with and without fish. Def worth a try. Would come here again.
They do offer 2 menus at 2 prices for lunch vs dinner for AYCE.
Visited a year ago
First impression was great. However the sushi was particularly fishy smelling but the crowning achievement was our rolls had pebbles/rocks in the rice.
This was unpleasant to discover by biting them. They told us they do their best but it is normal for them to have pebbles and other debris in their rice.
This did not make the rest of the menu appealing so we cut our meal short after two rolls (1 each). They tried to charge us full price for the all you can eat, $100 for two rolls and two beers. (This would have been maybe $40-$50 if we ordered them traditionally)
When I asked for some consideration for the fact that we would have eaten more had the food been safe to eat, the server reiterated that pebbles and other debris in their rice and food is normal and expected, I ended up requesting a manager and they eventually offered us another beer or $8 off our bill.
TLDR: I paid $90 for two fishy smelling rolls at a place that routinely has rocks in there rice and to discover the worst sushi joint in the Twin Cities.

Fried items like shrimp tempura are very well done. All in all my favorite within Twin Cities area.

I enjoyed my time at the restaurant. The food is great the atmosphere is nice and cozy, and service was delightful. I got Oyu as my server and she was great, definitely will visit again soon, and I would hope she will serve my family again!

One of the best sushi places I've ever been to. Incredible food and drinks, attentive wait staff and unlike a lot of other all-you-can-eat places I never felt pressured to leave. Highly recommend!

Took 10 minutes before a server came by, they just said hi and it took another 5 minutes to come back to take the drink order. Then took 30 minutes for the food to show up which was a few rolls and and udon.
Quality was poor, flavor was lacking, and portion sizes on a la carte are small for the price.
Do not recommend.

Visited for the first time today. Our sever, Christina was very friendly and attentive. We ordered from the AYCE menu and everything was plated beautifully and tasted delicious. My husband said he hasn’t had sashimi cuts that generous since he was in Tokyo. Looking forward to returning again and trying the hibachi.

Very much enjoyed the endless sushi, a friend & I were able to take down 7 rolls, and we couldn’t do any more! The rolls are ordered, so they’re brought to your table; there’s no fill your plate. They offer more than just sushi rolls, like noodles, some rice, and Ice cream as well.
I’d love to visit again next time I visit the city!

All You Can Eat Sushi menu added!!!
Below comments from someone who's eaten at most of the nice sushi restaurants around the twin cities over the years. This place has us keep coming back.
Ate here for the 2nd time tonight in this past year. First time not too long since the new opening, was good then.
2nd time, 6pm dinner so wasn't too busy, fast service, had party of 7, but 3 young kids so only had 3 hibachi orders. Still great service from the chef who put on nice show. As far as hibachi goes, food was amazing. Gf ordered sushi and even that was solid. Seafood for sushi and hibachi seemed fresh, my steak cooked perfectly. Calamari app asks delicious.
Will be back again!
Update: All You Can Eat Sushi 🍣 menu now offered, have had it a few times now, rolls are really good, sushi and sashimi cuts are big and fish is really fresh. Probably the best Hibachi place in the twin cities, and sushi is really good, especially for the prices.
Giving another update 10/30/23: Have eaten here now at least a dozen times, few for Hibachi, the rest for all you can eat sushi. Has moved its way up to one of our favorite places to go, you really can't beat the quality of the sushi for an all you can eat menu, even compared to the other nice regular sushi restaurants in the twin cities, the sushi here really is great, cuts of fish aren't small, quality is great every time, and the other dishes on the menu fantastic. Servers and management team really nice too. If you're doing Hibachi, check out some of their other speciality rolls that don't make it on the all you can eat menu, some really good ones on there that we've tried.

DO NOT GO HERE!! GO TO OSAKA OR BENIHANA INSTEAD!!
My recent experience at Samurai Sushi and Hibachi in Bloomington, MN was marred by the appalling behavior of the manager. I was shocked and deeply disappointed by the manager's utter lack of professionalism; their rudeness and disrespect towards customers were completely uncalled for. The manager's attitude created an uncomfortable and unwelcoming atmosphere, overshadowing any positive aspects of the dining experience.
I attempted to address an issue with my order, but instead of receiving assistance, I was met with condescension and dismissive behavior from the manager. It's disheartening to see such disrespect in a service-oriented industry, where customers should be treated with courtesy and understanding. Went spent well over $100 at this establishment WITH a 18% gratuity INCLUDED in our bill. No option to include our own based on the service we received.
This encounter has left me with a lasting negative impression of Samurai Sushi and Hibachi. I would caution anyone considering dining here to be aware of the disrespectful attitude displayed by the management. Such behavior is completely unacceptable and has no place in the hospitality business.

I almost didn't want to leave such a good review because other people would discover this and ruin it ;) Samurai is fantastic. Al la carte quality sushi at an all-you-can-eat price. Staff are always on point and friendly. This is the best business to open in this building in probably 15 years, and I have been to every version of Asian restaurant that has used this space.

Absolutely do not recommend this place. I lived right across the street from here and have been a few times. Over the course of me going I have noticed: 1. The place is almost never busy but I stand in the front area for a good 5 minutes before any walks up and asks what I need. No hello or welcoming just a are you picking up? 2. None of the servers are friendly. 3. They don't entirely understand english (which is fine) But then answer questions incorrectly or just say yes to say yes so they can give the illusion of good service. I have had a few specific experiences with this when I brought two friends for an all you can eat service and they didn't understand my question and my friends and I got over charged by about $40. I called and explained such to the manager and he basically said too bad. I ordered last night one roll and asked for the inside jalapeno to be put on the outside got charged extra for additional jalapeno. Not the end of the world but just shows no understanding and overcharging every chance given. 4. The food is over priced and honestly not very good. I feel as though they give all their attention to the habachi side of the restaurant and do not care about anything else. I suppose it was a good thing this place was so terrible I saved alot of money by not wanting to go there.

A ton of fun, you're group sits around a table with a flat top cooking surface built onto it. They take your order and the chef comes out and cooks everyone's meal right there. These chefs are amazing fun, totally entertaining and interactive with the group. Service was great, food was good, only flaw is mixed drinks were regular price and very weak for double tall. I know its seems picky, but it's not tough to mix a stiff drink, especially when you request a double.
