Soups, sushi & Japanese entrees in a modest space at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. I had a long flight ahead of me, so I figured I'd try something I know would be easy on my stomach. The miso soup tasted very good, but the chicken teriyaki was quite bland, bordering on tasteless.
The two vegetables that came with it, broccoli and carrots, were like warm at best, and the rice was dry. Perhaps not the greatest first impression.
Staff were okay, not really friendly, yet not rude. The best description for them might be not very engaged.
The place is a mixed bag. I might try a sushi roll next time and see if that fares any better.

Had a long layover in Detroit and decided to give this Japanese place a try. So glad I did. Even though it was packed with people, the waitress was excellent and explained that things might take a little bit longer. I can recommend what I ordered: the steamed gyozas and the tuna poke bowl. I think the wine is overpriced but it seems that’s the way that most restaurants make a lot of money. It was a nice glass of wine even though it was $23. In summary, some of the best Japanese food I have had, and even though, it’s in an airport, service was excellent.

I'm giving this place 1 star because there isn't an option for 0 stars.
The food is tasteless and the quality doesn't match the price. Perhaps it's because it's in an airport? I ordered the chicken teriyaki, and it was just salty, nothing else.
The staff are unmotivated and EXTREMELY SLOW. Hiring robots would be a better option; at least they'd be faster. I received my food after waiting for 45 minutes. Look, the place is almost empty, yet there are still people waiting outside.
I should have checked the Google reviews first.

Very cute little restaurant! Ordered takeout and it took about 10 minutes for a spicy beef ramen. The food is average, not the best but not terrible. The staff is nice, the seating area feels cozy.

I ordered miso ramen and the seaweeds taste so fishy, the pork hasn't boiled/cleaned well. There are scum on the pork slices, overcooked too, and the egg that comes with eat. It's overcooked hard boiled egg. I thought it's an authentic Japanese restaurant but even in the slightest pinch of it which is the egg is such a disappointment. Not sure if the sushi rolls are good but definitely not the ramens!

We have eaten here a couple of times and enjoyed it. The food is good particularly for the airport. On this recent visit was excellent. Waitress was outstanding. I wish that I had her name.

The taste of the udon was bland, with the broth being the only noticeable flavor, and it wasn’t very appealing. As for the miso ramen, the noodles were unevenly cooked, with some parts still hard, and the miso didn’t dissolve properly. Additionally, the service was unfriendly, which made the experience even worse. Both the food quality and staff training need to be reassessed. Overall, it was a disappointing visit, and I have no intention of returning.

Tiny sushi rolls where the fish is barely there for the price is not worth it. Too expensive for terrible quality. Terrible service

We thought it might be nice to try the more expensive option at the airport. We were wrong. The table was a little bit dirty when we sat down. After ordering food and drinks, I asked for the server to wipe down the table. They gave us a couple of wipes with a cloth, but there were still some fish eggs on the table.
I ordered the Katsu-don and my spouse ordered Miso Ramen. The Katsu-don had an egg and the rice was soaked with a sweet Katsu sauce. The meat was okay, but the texture of the rice was spoiled by the sauce. For me, Katsu-don should be served over steaming rice with a nice mouth feel and have sauce poured over the fried pork. The chefs seemed to have tossed the rice in an overly sweet Katsu sauce.
The Miso Ramen had a watery broth. My spouse lived in Japan for a decade or so and had to resort to putting soy sauce in the broth due to the weakness of the flavor. I think we would have been better off going to a fast food option :(

I waited to be served for 15 minutes and eventually walked out because no one wanted to take my order even though several servers walked past me multiple times.

Food was quite bad (not that I was expecting great from an airport sushi ramen place), but still it was worse than I expected. To tooo it off, the extreme rude behavior of the staff and complete indifference to the customers made this a terrible eating experience.

One should know better to order sushi at an airport. Man, this place was absolutely disgusting. The raw sushi was not fresh, and worst of all, the rice wasn’t even fully cooked. Should have known to get up and walk out after seeing other patrons leaving with nearly full plates of sushi on their tables. Went into PF changs for a drink right after and some folks from out of town overheard us talking about our experience. They said “everyone knows that place is disgusting”. Really embarrassed that my company has to pay for that expense. Yuck.

Waited for several minutes to be seated, staff ignored us but eventually spoke to us. We were given a choice of one table along the side squashed in between other people even though all of the centre tables were free. Staff said this was the only table we could sit at so we left and spent our money at Leo’s Coney Island where the staff was amazing!

It seems they get travelers anyway due to the location so the staffs are very rude and the food is terrible and overpriced. Would like to give minus to the service if possible.

This used to be our go/to restaurant at DYW. While the ambience and service are still great, their teriyaki udon is now flavorless, and they no longer offer buckwheat noodles—so gluten sensitives, take note.

Nice restaurant and friendly/ attentive staff. Sushi isn't worth the $ and took quite a while to make.

Awful taste in the udon. The broth was bland, like brown-colored water with just a hint of salt. The server also tossed the bowl onto the table, even though there were only a few customers to serve. This experience reminded me why I hadn’t been back to this restaurant in 10 years.

I am not one to go out of my way to write a review unless it was good service - or bad. The sushi was the worst I’ve ever had and the service was the same. We ordered a beer and sushi and asked for a water after our food came out (20 mins after ordering) and the water didn’t arrive until our cheques came. Would not recommend. 2/10 food/service. Overpriced.
Visited 3 months ago
Even with modest expectations for airport food, the ramen was worse than the dry $2 packs from the grocery store. No flavor to the “beef broth” way overdone egg and pork, and nothing fresh in the bowl. Save your $19 and your time. (Server was kind and offered to swap so she gets four stars.)

After ordering we waited 40 minutes to get our food and they gave us the wrong order. We got the poke bowl and the rainbow roll. They got the poke right but no the rainbow they gave us and avocado roll. We ate it because we were so hungry and didn’t want to wait another 40 minutes. Staff was no around to refill water or anything. Terrible service. Do not recommend. Food was low quality and not good tasting. Total cost 47 dollars.

The food took too long to come out, and it came barely warm. The entree (teriyaki) and appetizers (gyoza) were microwaved but not made to order. The woman at the table across from me sent her order back. If I had enough time, I would have too.
Bill was over $40.
The waitstaff are neither pleasant nor unpleasant, but they were not attentive. No one checked on me until I waved for the bill, and even then she just dropped the credit card reader at my table and walked away. I’d say it was because they were busy, but I’ve been there before when it wasn’t busy and it was the same staff, same story.
Not going back.

Without being mean, the only thing I can truly recommend having is a beer. The service is just okay aside from one woman with short silver hair - she's incredibly nice. The food, at best, is edible. My ramen bowl was overcooked, bland and had better through packages that I made at home. The gyoza was okay and the shrimp tempura had no taste. I sent the bowl back, paid my bill, tipped my server and went to Plum Market, which was better than what I ordered. I sincerely hope that they improve. It was a cute spot.

Tasteless food, bad service. We ordered: sidecar cocktail, Cheybogan wheat beer, sushi, chicken teriyaki, ramen. Only ate half the chicken teriyaki. Had to ask for a refund because the ramen was near inedible. My bf started to eat the meat because the broth was tasteless, worse than instant ramen. When we asked for that one item to be taken off our bill, our waitress Noel scoffed and said “but you ate the meat??”

Food and drink was decent. Service was not. Came in just after Noon, and sat at the empty bar. Took close to 10 minutes for anyone to even talk to me, and they were not busy in there. Finally, someone asked if I had been helped. Said no one had even talked to me. She said she would get someone. That took a couple more minutes. First thing that this woman said was that the bar was " not really open". How would I know that, there was no one at the hostess station when I walked in. Ordered and got my food and drink placed on the bar next to me. In the meantime, a few others came in and sat at the bar. Later, the server said to a few of us, that she can take car of us at the hostess stand. I walked up there and was asked if I needed change. I asked that I needed to know the total FIRST. She pointed to a bill that was on the stand when I walked up and said " it's right there". Like I was supposed to know that was my bill. Seriously in need of some customer service training here.

I ordered a rainbow row. The food here is okay. You have to set expectations low. The price of the sushi does not justify the low quality of the food. My husband got a spicy udon and he would not order it again.

I stood waiting for several minutes but no one bothered to seat me even though two servers were chatting with each other 4 feet in front of me. They acted like I didn't exist. The middle-aged lady behind me had to ask if we were supposed to seat ourselves and the server gave a noncommittal answer.
When I sat down, no one gave me any utensils or offered water. When a white guy my age walked in, one of the servers immediately provided him service.
What a joke. I got up and left. I'm a huge foodie and I've been to countless restaurants, but I've never been treated this way.

Sora Japanese at the Detroit airport: where the veggie delight roll lives up to its name, but the service is more of a "meh" delight. The food was fresh and tasty, but the servers moved at a pace that made airport security look speedy. It felt like they were on a Zen quest to care the least about anyone's existence. If you’ve got time to kill between flights (like, a lot of it), this place is for you!

Very slow, rude and negative staff, and they don’t allow you to eat food brought in from another venue … at an airport! When it comes to eating airport food, I consider it like a food court at a mall. If you have bought something to eat and/or drink there, it should not matter if you also purchased food somewhere else. If you advertise yourself as a sushi bar, you should consider hiring additional chefs, as this place was not even busy, and it took >45 min to get one sushi roll! Also, they were insistent on taking a drink order before food…maybe I did not want a drink! I felt compelled to buy one in order to purchase my supper. I only started eating my outside food because they were taking sooooo long!

BAD RAMEN & AN INCREDIBLY RUDE ASSISTANT
September 7, 2024 5pm. Despite the price ($21) the chashu ramen was worse than 3-buck instant noodles like Nissin Raoh or Maruchan Gold Ramen. Too weak broth. Bad toppings: chashu pork was lean and not marinated enough, and no white pepper. The chefs should know what ramen should be. And that's not the worst part.
I wrote some feedback on the backside of the receipt and asked one of the assistants, T******, to pass the receipt to the chefs. She didn't apologize or even see the feedback but BLAMED me as if she was deliberately adding fuel to the fire. I explained that I wouldn't request a refund because I didn't want to waste food or ask for another bowl of ramen and miss my flight. But she didn't stop educating me in an aggressive, disrespectful tone.
Advice to the manager: you need to train or replace T****** who seems utterly clueless about guest services. And please share the receipt with my handwritten feedback with your chefs to improve the ramen although she didn't appreciate it at all.

My husband and I ate here twice on our round trip from Kansas City to Philadelphia, with a stop in Detroit. If we lived closer to the Detroit airport, we would go every day! The food was delicious.... It soothed and satisfied our palates and stomachs... The service was friendly and professional... The ambiance was a retreat from the constant flow of passengers. We can't say enough about this place. I am confused by the low ratings that are being given to Sora. We are very grateful for this cuisine and they people who work for Sora

After almost 2 days of delays, cancellations, rerouting, lost baggage, multiple flights and layovers, trying to get from Vancouver to Hartford, CT, this was a very welcome oasis in the desert. I wish I could remember her name, but our waitress was friendly, warm, delightfully sassy, and funny. And the food was...surprising. Maybe I don't travel that often, but I've always known airport food to be subpar and expensive. This wasn't terribly unreasonable for an airport, and quite tasty to boot. For any restaurant, period. I'm not usually a huge fan of ramen, but tried my girlfriend's and really enjoyed it. I ordered some sushi including the crispy Vegas roll which was absolutely delicious. I don't think I'll find myself at the Detroit airport again anytime soon, but if I do, I'll certainly go out of my way to try and make it back there. (Was also far bigger than I initially realized.)

Intro: the food and service was below average. I love Japanese ramen but this place is a no.
Pros:
-wasn’t packed ( I can see why)
Cons:
-they don’t know how to make a spicy ramen without meat. Very average dish
-the meat tasted old
-the waiter acted like she didn’t want to be here.
-the table was semi clean
-the waiter didn’t listen as I stated I didn’t want certain things in my dish.
-the broth tasted like a bag of soy sauce and water
-conclusion: do not recommend. Their are better ramen places

Food is average and expensive, which is to be expected at the airport. Male front staff is unfriendly and rude. The worst customer service. Sitting at the bar. Server walks up and starts with "pay attention so I don't have to repeat myself", as she's talking to me, my husband, and the gentleman sitting next to us not in our party. She is behind me and is getting my attention by tapping me on the back after every question. I felt rushed and totally disrespected. Unprofessional, rude, and unpleasant, no respect for personal space. She acted like she was doing me a favor taking my order. Given the rating of this restaurant, I probably shouldn't be surprised.

It's a pretty mid airport restaurant. Out of most of the things you could eat it's probably one of the better options though. As any airport restaurant, all the food is overpriced. The broth in my ramen was good, but the noodles tasted pretty cheap and the egg half was overcooked. Service was okay but really slow for how empty it was.

Sushi (spicy tuna roll) was fine, ramen was $23 for broth that testes like a maruchan packet, an overcooked egg, and bits of pork instead of chashu. Everything in the bowl was too sweet.
It was worth a try, but probably won't do it again.

We came in today while waiting for our flight and ordered rolls and sashimi. The waiter was extremely slow and took over 20 mins to bring our food out. The rolls were okay but the sashimi was absolutely disgusting. There is no way that is considered sashimi, the cut was extremely thick, the salmon (which is the only one I could try) tasted terrible and even looked like it had been frozen and it wasn’t fresh. This was $38 for the sashimi and since we d couldn’t eat them I shared my concern with the server and she said she couldn’t do anything and she had to wait to talk to her manager. We ended up leaving and paying for it but I did want to share so that nobody else falls for this trap. Not good, if you’re product is not good, own your mistake and treat your clients fairly.

If you are looking for truly authentic ramen this is NOT the place to come. On the other hand if you are hungering after a really hard boiled egg, tough pork and some soup with noodles then I would recommend it! Also had a salad absolutely drenched in ginger dressing which was pretty much inedible. Agree with other comments that the service is excellent though.

There is very little positive to Sora's. The food was subpar and overpriced. The portions are small and over priced. Yes, this is an airport restaurant, but $7 for one piece of salmon sashimi is quite ridiculous. The sushi was not fresh and the chasiu in the ramen was over cooked. The service is subpar at best. We were a group of 10 and one of the children had a drink from an outside restaurant. He was told that he had to wait outside the restaurant. This was a minor who was willing to order other food to accommodate the restaurant but the restaurant said no. We finished our meals quickly and left the restaurant dissatisfied with the food and lack of empathy. Not a place if you're looking for good good or travelling with a family.

I have been coming here for more than 10 years but it's getting progressively worse. I used to layover in DTW instead of ATL because I loved this place. They have expanded the footprint and declined in virtually every other area. The staff is disorganized (e.g forgets about orders, forgets to bring chopsticks with the food), lacks understanding of sushi (e.g sashimi vs nigiri). I've noticed they have attitude and talk back to customers (the opposite of Japanese culture.) You used to be able to walk right in, sit down at the sushi bar, get fresh fish, interact directly with the sushi chefs, and be out in 30 minutes. Now it's an hour, the fish doesn't seem as good, and interacting with the wait staff is frustrating.
I suggest the owner pay out of their own pocket to take their staff to a Japanese restaurant and observe. Sadly I won't be around to see the results.

Food was good for an airport, and Trang was a very helpful server. Rarely do you find someone as attentive and considerate of customer tastes, needs, and experience as she was. My gyoza ramen was surprisingly delicious for airport food, and the size was good. My waitress was nice and the food came quickly. I also got a glass of wine. It wasn't listed on my bill with the ramen, but the total included the wine: $18 + 0 = $32! When I asked for an itemized bill that showed the wine, I was told, "The wine won't show up (as a line item) on your bill. That's just the way our system works." I finally got her to just write it in by hand, but it's just weird and not customer-friendly. Not the server's fault, but definitely something management should fix.

The spicy ramen is pretty good, but the services in the back bar is horrible. Unless you know the bartender, she will barely acknowledge your existence and if she does, get ready for rapid check out of there, before you even put your chopsticks down. She was really engaged in a conversation with her friends, but soon as I arrived on mid-Sunday arrival (barely anyone there), you could tell she hated her me even sitting at the bar.
If I ever have a layover again, of course I’ll go back for the ramen and will let the bartender know to have a drink, calm the **** down and let the manager know a smile may help. I know she can do it, she was chatty / happy Karen with the rest of the 3 customers.

Skip this one if you can; luckily DTW has a variety of other restaurants to choose from. I paid $19 (not including tip and tax) for the tempura udon, which was by far the worst udon I've had. The broth had absolutely no flavor, the noodles were overcooked, and the tempura was served in the broth and falling apart due to how soggy it was. Frozen tempura and instant $2 udon would infinitely be better than this.
As for service, my server was nice but I never received a glass of water and when I was served my food, I wasn't given any utensils.
I would never recommend eating here, I wanted to tell the people that just sat down beside me to leave and that this was not representative of Japanese food by any means.

Always a good stop when I have extra time at the airport.

My wife and I just got done eating here. The food was okay but the server was so rude. It was slow, so there were many open tables. Initially, the server was attentive, the food came out quick. Everything was going fine until she decides we are done eating. Without asking N Trang drops the empty plates into the full bowl of Raman and asks if we are ready for the check. I don’t say anything about the ramen I wanted to finish, for I understand people make mistakes. And I tell her we want to wait for a second. Less the 5 minutes go by and she walks up to the table in a aggressive manor telling us her section had moved and we need to pay now. I will avoid eating here in the future.

Server was attentive, atmosphere is an airport sit down restaurant. The food? California Roll was clearly pre-made and refrigerated, crusty edges, wasabi was hard, and avocado was already discolored….awful. The Chicken Katsu Don was a microwaved mess, a pre-prepped and reheated mess. In short, a grossly overpriced dining option that has competition with the frozen dinner section at any grocery store. If you need a meal while at DTW, walk by this one…

My wife and I stopped by this sushi restaurant to eat something before catching our night flight. The food was okay, kind of average. The Spicy Ramen came barely warm (why?), the Chicken Katsu Don was saggy, and the spicy tuna roll was both mediocre and pricey. To top it up, our waiter had some weird attitude from the minute she approached our table. We don’t like when people have a condescending attitude and an apparent lack of desire to work and provide a good experience, as if they are doing us a favor. We saw when our waiter told her coworker about our tip and she said “Are you serious?”. Well, if you’re reading this, yes I’m serious and now you will understand the $5 dollar tip, which by the way, it was way generous given the not so memorable experience we had. Stop it with the entitlement mentality as if customers owe you a favor or have to tip you when the quality of food and service is mediocre. That’s not how it works. When little or nothing has been done to deserve a 20% tip, then you will get whatever we think you deserve.

Tempura served in Udon broth, so soggy and pointless. Broth tasted like water with no flavor. Bulgogi was shaved thin, too fatty, and greasy. With tip came out to almost $60 for two. Poor ambiance as you're across from bathrooms. Skip this place.

Yall, it’s airport sushi but it’s decent enough. The service is phenomenal. On a busy day Trang will still have you feeling like her only table.

Got some ramen. Pork was hard. Egg was overcooked. Nothing special. Didn't finish my plate.

Got the Piston Volcano for $23. It looks pretty but legitimately 97% rice. The only tuna was a paste that was purely to add color to the design.
Two other people in our group got the Vegas Roll for $29 and really liked it!
So just be careful what you ordered. Definitely don’t order the volcano unless you only want rice 😆

Decent sushi, but not much flavour and it's very pricey. A small note that they didn't have any gluten free soy sauce this time. They did my list time thru. Half the place was closed both times but overall it doesn't matter much. It just felt odd.

Don't waste your time or money. Sushi is so over priced, even for an airport. My roll had a scrap of eel, for $25. All cream cheese, rice and cucumber. There shouldn't be rice IN the roll, too.

Food tasted bad and spent $18 on some ramen miso soup for my 6 year old and she did not like it at all. Also both me and my daughter got splinters in our fingers from opening and using the chop sticks. We told them what happened and that we didn’t like the noodles and no solution was offered. The fried dumplings were way overcooked and bland. My whole thumb is swollen from this splinter. I hope their food ingredients aren’t as cheap as their chopsticks Sorry

Didn’t expect much from this airport restaurant. Ordered a salad and a soba, but the soba was so bad that it would be better if they serve instant noodles.

It was a really bad experience yesterday. The server had an attitude for an unknown reason. Sushi Chef MIA. Nobody seemed to care. Business must be super good.

It’s airport sushi so you can’t really have super high expectations, but the food is pretty decent for what it is. Staff is also friendly which is a plus and food comes out relatively quick

The staff was totally fine, this review is not their fault AT ALL. The food is some of the worst I have ever had. I am not a "foody" by any stretch of the imagination, but both me and my SO thought the food was terrible. I have never in my life been so close to telling other people waiting in line to GO SOME PLACE ELSE!!

Sat there for 25 minutes and nobody served me. I had 3 waitresses say "Be with you in a minute". I watched them serve carry out customers while I just sat there.

I have been coming to this restaurant for several years and used to look forward to this as one of my go-to spots. Unfortunately it seems it is going downhill; it took about 50min before I got my food, which is just too long for an airport restaurant. Very slow customer service didn’t help with the situation. I waited 15min for my bill after finishing. Time to find another restaurant at DTW

Hard to mess up ramen but it happened. Expected better. Sushi was OK but expensive. Not as good as it once was

Great service. You might wait a little it they are willing to work with you and just so nice.
The food could be better. However for the prices at an airport, definitely didn’t mind.

Used delta meal vouchers for a $25 bulgogi rice with miso soup lunch. The bulgogi tasted bland. The miso soup was good. No issues cashing $30 in vouchers for lunch. For dinner ordered the su udon which was ok but this time it was a different server who said done to every request except when it came to entering in the third $15 voucher. She said it didn't work and had been used already?! I asked to speak to the manager. She refused to get the manager. She tried the first 2 used vouchers which had been used for lunch. She then re-entered the 3rd voucher which then worked. She did not apologise for her mistake entering the voucher details first time around. I should have dined at PJ Changs next door which was more popular.

I ate slimy undercooked tofu and watched the bartender pick her teeth. The meal was not good and I would not recommend spending any money or time here.

The place is ok, the service on the Bar is really bad, the lady seems to be angry all day and no taking care or your order. Please don’t come here, what you pay is not worth it.

Sushi was just okay. Ordered the the Great Lakes Roll. The staff is super fun and nice. A very pleasant place to chill while waiting. Bought a bottle of sake (Moonstone Plum Sake) and it was sweet but very good. They have a okay bar - a number of liquor options but not everything. And no menu or the mixed drinks you could make with their offerings, so it kind of makes it hard to decide if you don’t have a go-to drink.

I've eaten at Sora while connecting through Detroit dozens of times over the last 5-10 years. The food quality has gone downhill significantly over the last year. I understand a new group purchased the restaurant. Unfortunately, I would not recommend eating here and would hope the new owners are listening.

Arguably some of the best ramen soup I’ve ever had. I travel weekly and work for a large Japanese company and have tried it twice. It’s outstanding.

Rudest place in the world. If you want to see people who wish you'd off them so they'd have a break from their mediocre job and life then come here. All the staff is miserable!

Great atmosphere and proximity to gates 34, 36, and the Westin hotel entrance. But it is frighteningly expensive. For a Ninja specialty roll, a single piece of eel nigiri, and one order of tuna maki it was $46 without tip. That is also with us ordering water to drink. The tables and decor are very nice and the convenience is great. The sushi was decent quality and service was friendly and prompt.

Server/hostess couldn't be bothered to get up or off her phone when we arrived. Told us to find and open table or sit at the bar, so we sat at the bar. Same chick happened to be bar tender. Took her a solid 7 minutes to waddle over to bar to take our drink order. Came back 10 minutes later to take food. Wanted to sushi but she said 30-45 minutes for sushi. Then told couple sitting next time us 45 - hour. Then the other waitress said 25-40 minutes. No rhyme or reason to any of it. Skip it and find Cat Coras down a little further. Place was gross, staff wasn't pleasant and food was just ok. Skip it

I ordered my food to go and took a seat in the dining area because I was wearing heels (I’m a flight attendant) and a young server boy who looked to be of middle eastern descent told me to get up and stand because I ordered my food to go. Very rude because my feet were definitely hurting and sore and it was only 15 minutes I would have been sitting there. After about 10 minutes of standing I asked to sit down again and he said no and was very rude about it. I got an empathetic look from one of his coworkers which leads me to believe he always acts like an unhappy POS who hates his job. I want to ask management to please hire servers who are actually kind people and not servers who have control issues.

Bad ramen with nonexistent service. Avoid.
The waitress clearly didn’t want to serve me and took her forever to clean the table and take my order. I get it - it’s the busy hour and you are short staffed but that’s no excuse for ignoring your customers and showing up with a pissed face.
Also it’s the worst ramen I’ve ever had.

Had high expectations for this place but was very disappointed. We got 2 udons but both had no taste. Also, the udons were missing the fish cakes but both the chefs nor the waitresses mentioned it. However, the final price was still the same. Furthermore, the waitresses didn’t serve us any water until the very end of our meal. She even asked us how many we would like. Isn’t it expected for all of us to get water?

Would not serve me unless I scanned their code thing. I choose not to use my cell for that purpose. The waitress said she could not help. No service unless you use your cell to scan a code.
Terrible service.
I can see what I want to order but I guess you have to give them access to you phone to do business here.
No purchase made...

After I get seated and order a miso soup, well I looked over the menu, I was told there would be at least an hour wait for a cucumber maki. This is at the airport!! How long do they expect us to have between flights! Now I don’t even have time to sit down anywhere else before my flight. Huge F you!!!

The broth the noodles come in is absolutely god awful. Legit tastes like they used left over dishwasher for it. Despite finishing my ramen I left hungrier than when I got there. The only redeemable part of this 'restaurant' is that the staff are pretty chill. Besides whoever made the sewage I ate. If you go avoid the soups.

I didn’t have high expectations at all since it is an airport Japanese restaurant in Detroit. So I ordered the safe choice - ramen. But it still amazed me how bad $18 ramen could taste. Instant ramen is better than this. The noodle texture is weird, the soup is completely wrong, and the meat tasted like wood. Should have just bought instant ramen instead.

Food portions are laughingly small and seems to be frozen food being reheated. Very expensive and was definitely hungry coming out.

I had the miso ramen — the broth was decent but the egg was a hard boiled egg that seemed like it was boiled by a food manufacturing company, not by the restaurant.
The noodles were alright & I ordered a side of white rice to eat with the broth because they had no fried rice. The white rice was not Japanese rice, and it was hard & dry and it tasted like the cheapest American rice you can get at an American grocery store. It was $5 for one bowl of white rice which is so overpriced!
The bamboo shoots & seaweed pieces in the ramen tasted pretty good.
Definitely overpriced & while it is important to take into consideration the state of the economy and the difficulties that restaurant owners may be facing, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Service was okay though

I never thought I would be the type of person who eats airport sushi, but the food here is quite good, and I always keep this place in mind when connecting through Detroit. Prices are on the high side, but it is in an airport, and what you get is pretty good under those circumstances.
