I have gone here several times now, and this place is consistent and solid. Great staff who are friendly and have great menu options that are often updated for the specials. The fried duck rice was amazing, my 1st time going, and I really enjoyed how they flavored the egg. The ramen and chasu are really good. I would suggest adding spice to the broth for a flavor kick, which is mild on heat level. The pork Bao Buns are perfect! Also, not pictured, I had the crab cakes that were on point! I will keep coming back as they have great dragon rolls as well.

My wife and I ate here for the first time tonight because I had a $30 gift card. Right off the bat we were impressed by the look of the restaurant interior. We were greeted by a friendly smiling hostess and quickly taken to our seat. We wanted to try as much as we could so we each ordered a ramen bowl and we ordered a sushi plate to share. The waitress, Cayla A., was extremely friendly and ready with a recommendation when my wife was undecided between two choices. The food arrived and was absolutely delicious. We ended up ordering dessert as well and were not disappointed. We ended up spending quite a bit more than what was on our gift card, but the prices were very fair for the amount of food received, so there are no regrets about our bill. Overall I highly recommend eating here. I know my wife and I certainly will be again!

Elegant, date night, people gathering for food at a reasonable price. I got a soft drink, appetizer, main course, and 2 desserts for $40. That is not bad at all. They have special hand crafted food and cocktails. Tyler was our server, and he was a fountian of knowledge and gave great service. Tell him Star sent you. You must try this place.

We decided to stop in on whim tonight, and are so happy we did. Brittany was amazing from start to finish! Giving us incredible recommendations. Everything was truly fantastic! Drinks, appetizers, entrees. All the food came out so flavorful, and the drinks were perfectly poured. Brittany even made sure to let us know about there deserts before hand, so we brought home mochi for the whole family. This place deserves a 20/10 for the wonderful food and service we experienced tonight!

Yes, yes and yes. I have been here multiple times and the food is fantastic. I find myself craving stuff from here all the time because it's that good. I've always had great service here as well and the food is usually quick to come out. Definitely recommend trying it out!

This Korean restaurant specializes in ramen wings. They both came with spice choices from mild to blazing hot. I had the garlic and parm boneless wings (not hot at all), and they were amazing - the perfect blend of extra crunchy, juicy and flavor. They also had sushi rolls and nigri, as well as tasty appetizers. I did not have a ramen soup, but my family said it yummy. Your order is placed at counter, they give you a number, and your food is delivered to your table.

First time here and the food is AMAZING. Our waiter Theo was great and very knowledgeable about the foods. I ended up getting the Tonkotsu Ramen and I highly recommend. It wasn’t spicy like I usually like it but still a 10/10. As someone who loves authenticity, this is the place to go!

Very cool new ramen restaurant. Decorations inside are very cool and fitting for the vibe. Has a bar, sushi bar and regular dining seating. We had some sashimi and ramen. Everything was excellent quality and portions are great. The smoked salmon sashimi had the perfect amount of smoke flavor and the fish was very tender. Highly recommend.

Had a recent visit here however i believe i had very expectations given the reviews but I would say it's okay in food quality and flavor. Due to dietary restrictions, we could only have vegetarian ramen however it did not stand out much to me in regards to flavor. My brother did like it more than me so i will give the benefit of the doubt. Another thing that bummed me is their eggs are dipped in pork sauce so we couldn't have egg on our ramen.
Special mention: the shrimp tempura was way too good, fresh hot and crispy. I will remember it for a long time.

House of Umami might meet the standards for the suburbs, Novi, Wixom, Canton etc

But, it falls far below expectations of Royal Oak, Ann Arbor & Detroit restaurants.

This is my second time here. The food quality has remained the same since first visiting months ago.

Let’s review the food.

- Chicken & Pork Bao buns: Dry and stale bun, fairly dry meat with a lacking flavor profile.
- Ramen: The Spicy Miso broth lacks flavor & depth, it was reminiscent of canned chicken noodle soup. Noodles leave something to be desired in texture and freshness. The pork tasted old or off. The egg was great.
- Sushi: The shrimp tempura was very good, tasted fresh and had a good flavor profile.

Dessert: Layered Matcha Crepe Cake was mushy / dense like a cake, lacking the airy refreshing qualities this confection traditionally has. The maraschino cherries garnish greatly conflict with the matcha flavor.

I want this place to elevate Canton, not matching the underwhelming qualities of the chain restaurants that dominate the suburbs

Very expensive compared to Matsuchan, with the portions being much smaller here.

The rangoons were small. The Ramen dishes we ordered were also small. The Chicken Shio Ramen tasted like Mrs. Grass soup. The Bang Bang chicken had almost no sauce, was not crispy on the outside, and was ridiculously dry. The matcha crepe cake tasted like fondant.

The bao buns were good, skimpy on the portions. Spicy Salmon was okay, but way too much rice. The avocado bombs were very good. The staff were nice and friendly.

Overall, I spent an unbelievable amount of money for my family and I to be very disappointed.

Tonight was our very first night going to the house of Unami. My wife and I felt very welcome by our server whose name is Nautica H for two people that have never been to a restaurant like this and had no clue she helped us a lot LOL. Her knowledge of the menu her suggestions were top notch! I would hire her in a minute if I had a restaurant I was that impressed with her it was a breath of fresh air to actually have a server that knew the menu and was very knowledgeable about the menu to help two people that had no clue what the heck they were doing. My boyfriend and I came in for lunch on Wednesday & we had Corrine as our server. I was super excited to try this place out & im so happy I did. She was knowledgeable, engaging & overall a wonderful server/bartender. Being that my partner & I both work in food service, we find ourselves wishing for service that we would provide to our guests, and we certainly did. She was prompt to check with kitchen on what dishes were safe for his allergies & everything was fantastic. The ramen is top tier. Food was fantastic & the overall vibe of the restaurant is spot on. Great place for Raman. Tried just about all items in the menu at this point and have not been disappointed. The pork Bao buns a great. It's a toss up between the Curry Raman and the Tantanmen raman as for the best one. Service is great and everyone is friendly. Cori is a great bartender and does a wonderful job.

Only small complaint is that sometimes the music is a touch loud and it's difficult to talk.

We’ve been here a few times and Justice has been our server more than once. He’s great and the rest of the staff has always been very friendly too. The menu offers vegetarian and vegan options. We especially love the vegan ramen, Fancy Vegetable Roll and the tofu bao bun. They have an extensive cocktail list. I’ve never had a bad drink there, but I recommend the Tokyo Old Fashioned, if you like classic cocktails.

I came here for a friend's birthday party, and I don't think we could have chosen a better place to go. The atmosphere was absolutely incredible and clean. This is my first time here. It is one of the newest restaurants in Canton. The atmosphere is great. There are tables for two as well as booths and one large high top for groups. Lots of appetizers, Ramen bowls, rice bowls, sushi rolls, menu items for kids, and desserts. I tried the Tonkotsu Ramen. It has Chasu (pork), molten egg, seasoned bamboo shoots, sweet corn, wood ear mushrooms, scallions, and nori. It was delicious. The broth tasted like miso. I will definitely be back.

I was really excited to try the House of Umami Ramen given the excellent reviews however my expectations were not met. Given that you are expected to pay approximately 20$ per person at a minimum I was really looking forward to an explosion of flavors. We tried several items on the menu none of which I would consider buying again.

We started off with the Bao Bun and potstickers both of which were underwhelming. The Bao Bun had good texture but the pork inside did not provide any complementation to the soft textures of the Bun.

For the main course I was looking forward to some Char Siu and the Charsu bowl was recommended by the waitress. Unfortunately, I could only take one bite of bowl as it was overpoweringly SALTY. I do not typically like to return plates but I could not even try to finish the bowl due to the overwhelming sodium amount that lingered even after a glass full of water. I would like to give my compliments to the front of the house staff as they were very friendly and willing to exchange the plate for another item.

In exchange, we tried the Chicken Katsu Curry which is described as “rich Japanese Curry” but were also left disappointed. At this point we were so hungry we just ate to eat. In contrast to the Chashu Bowl the Chicken Katsu Curry had minimal flavor. The curry barely tasted like regular curry, the omelette was just egg no seasoning, and the chicken while juicy did not add any depth to the plate at all.

Overall, a very disappointing experience and not a location I would recommend visiting if you enjoy a well rounded meal.

While the plating, service, and decor was nice the most important aspect was significantly lacking.

What a great surprise: Was driving through the area after having not been in Canton for awhile and saw this place, was definitely "Japanese" in appearance and, if you love Japanese food that includes various Ramen and noodle dishes along with sushi and great drinks, this place is certainly a delight. Our waitress Madison and (I think) the manager Jennifer were incredibly welcoming and helpful, sharing warm conversation along with the details of the menu. The ramen is fantastic! I've tried pretty much all of the ramen selections and there isn't a bad one (although the tonkotsu is the best.) The bao are delicious, tea is great, and while I'm not a sushi fan, everyone I've brought here for sushi has enjoyed it.

We had the tonkotsu ramen and the chicken katsu curry and they were both delicious! The noodles carried the flavor of the broth well, and the pork wasn’t overly fatty like I’ve had at some other places. The servers were all very friendly, and we got our food quickly (although we went when it wasn’t very busy).

I’ll start off with saying the atmosphere was very nice, beautiful decorations, crowd noise was at a good low volume. The service was good, waiter and manager (?) were really nice.
Food presentation was very good (I’ll include pictures).
Now, the food itself …. We got the Charsu Bowl, pot stickers, and a bao bun. The pot stickers were good, nice taste, nice texture. Recommend if you go.
The bao bun was … not bad, the mayo was the stand out taste, not sure if that’s what they were going for. Couldn’t even taste the meat though. Bread was good, soft.
The Charsu Bowl: the soy sauce taste was overpowering, tasted to me like pork drowned in cooking oil for weeks. The rice tasted off, almost burnt. We both really disliked the plate. The staff was extremely kind to replace it with our next choice - Chicken Curry: taste was okay, much much better than the bowl. However, where before it tasted too strongly, this one didn’t taste like much, where were the seasonings?? Best thing for me was the chicken breading.
Like I mentioned, staff was nice, atmosphere and service was good. Maybe it was just a bad food experience for us. Try at your own risk.

This is not that good. I don’t know why people are lying. The chicken is not seasoned and it tastes nasty. The bok choy isn’t fresh and the noodles aren’t either. I would give this a 1/5 honestly. Broth has no flavor. And I don’t even think it’s ran by authentic Japanese people. Definitely a knock off ramen restaurant

First time at the House of Umami. Wow! The food was incredible. I ordered the Spicy Salmon Bowl made with fresh spicy salmon, mango, purple cabbage, cucumber, edamame, avocado, radish, scallions, and sesame seeds. Service was amazing. Someone say RAMEN?? This is the to check out. Clean, spacious and great prices. Server had awesome attitude and very welcoming. Food was rollin out pretty darn quick. Best ramen restaurant in Metro Detroit. Went for lunch twice now because my wife and I couldn't get enough the first time. The crab rangoons, gyoza, and buns are amazing appetizers. The ramen is...astounding. Perfectly rich, deep flavors in the broth, the char siu pork is tender and flavorful, the molten eggs are the best we've had (we save them for our last bites), we've never had bamboo shoots taste so flavorful.
The service is the absolute best. Attentive, knowledgeable, friendly. This place is nothing but 5 stars.
