Slurping Turtle takes traditional Japanese ramen, sushi and rice dishes and through unique ingredients, recipes and presentation, add our own twist.
Everything here is very organized, which was pleasant because I came here on Labor Day weekend and they were well equipped for the surge in business. The food here is really good, I thought the braised pork wasn’t as tender as I would like but the broth was rich, complex, and delicious. The noodles were springy and cooked perfectly al dente! The atmosphere here was really fun for a party of five and we could all hear each other clearly, so it’s good for catching up with friends.

It’s a lovely restaurant. I love coming here for their bao and ramen, as a vegetarian. It was very busy the night we went but we had great servers despite the business. I would call ahead and/or make a reservation as wait times vary from 15 minutes to over an hour.
The path ways between tables are very narrow and I wouldn’t have been able to get though had I used my wheelchair (I used my crutches this time but kept hitting chairs and tables). Only thing to be aware of is the only public way to get to the restroom is down a flight of stairs. As someone who uses walking aides, it’s minimally accessible. HOWEVER, a manager saw me getting ready to go back up the stairs and asked if I wanted to use the elevator. It is hidden and not accessible to the general public. I’m glad I was able to use the elevator; but it should be something that everyone is aware of. Walking aides or not; stairs can be a problem for anyone. :) otherwise! I love this place. It’s always my first request.

It is such a fun and vibrant place to dine! I tried the Sushi, Kinoko Mochi Stir Fry, and Red Curry Ramen, and the food was absolutely amazing — full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The server was super friendly and made the experience even better. Highly recommend this spot for a great meal and good vibes!

Took my son here for his pre-birthday celebration dinner. He got the children’s ramen and added an egg & duck fat fried chicken. I thought the portion size was great 😊 The food was so good I didn’t get great photos because we were so busy eating. Our server was great despite being tired from her long shift. She kept a positive attitude and answered all the questions we had. I personally did not like the setup of this spot which is why I gave the atmosphere. I recommend this spot for date nights. Came in here on a Black Friday for lunch and got some rolls and some ramen. The duck friend chicken is unbelievable and the ramen brother here is good. The rolls were also simple but of good quality. Service was fast, food was good. I think one of the better ramen places in the area.

We had the ramen, a Tiger roll and baos, and they were fantastic! The ramen had rich, deep flavors with perfectly cooked noodles, and the broth was incredibly satisfying. The baos were soft, fluffy, and packed with delicious fillings. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was friendly and attentive.

Sat at the bar on a Sunday night, only a five minute wait. Bartender welcomed us and helped me navigate the cocktail menu. I ordered the haru mojito and it was very refreshing, a fantastic start to dinner. We ordered gyoza, yellowtail hamachi, and Pink Lady roll. Everything was delicious and we were really happy with the quality and service.

Saturday night in Ann Arbor, hands down the worst dining experience we’ve ever had.
- We gave our names and phone number for the waitlist, and 1 hour and 30 minutes later, they called to say our table was ready. However, when we arrived, we still had to wait another hour with no apology from the staff.
- The host at the front desk was rude and dismissive, and her attitude when we were finally seated was shockingly disrespectful.
- The food arrived for everyone except one person in our group. After 30 minutes of trying to get someone’s attention, we had to standup and go ask about the missing plate. Turns out, it had been sitting forgotten on a counter the entire time.
- To top it all off, there was a bug in his food.
Absolutely appalling service and hygiene. We’ll never be coming back.

I think this is seriously the BEST bowl of ramen I've ever had!! Me and my bf both had the DFFC Miso Ramen and I can't recommend it enough! We also split a spicy salmon roll and that was amazing as well! Portion sizes are absolutely perfect, everything was perfectly seasoned and the chicken in the DFFC was moist and delicious. It was our first time here and I can't wait to come back!!

The options they give is really nice and the ramen was decent its just that their poke bowls we’re lacking a general flavor didn’t taste great but not bad just very average not seasoned enough. A bit pricey too for mid food, i’d go for the ramen if you go here, other than that not special at all.

This place is totally worth the hype. The spicy DFFC Miso Ramen is the perfect dish to slurp on when it is raining outside and you want that hot comfort food. The Bao buns are perfect in a way that the buns don't overpower the meat, speaking of which, the pork belly is cooked to perfection. The most surprising aspect from my experience was that somehow they make fried chicken in ramen work. Guess it must be the duck fat frying but the fried chicken is simply delicious in the ramen and one shouldn't think twice about it. Will definitely be back again to try their other ramens.

Duck fat fried chicken is absolutely delicious, the Classic Slurp is meaty and savory. Noodles are perfection. The sushi (Red Dragon) is fresh but not overly flavorful. Use the spicy mayo to add some kick. Other sushi restaurants have bolder flavors. Not a criticism but an observation.

I would give ZERO stars if I could. Today, I submitted a $150+ order for Slurpy Turtle through Door Dash. I was excited. I generally order for several days worth of meals because I live a ways out of town. This was my first try at this place. All in all, I received items I did not order, and I did not receive a very pricey item I DID order, yet there it is on the receipt that I paid for! I am generally generous with tips because of my location a bit out of town. No one double checked to see that I got the items on the list. And apparently no one checked to make sure the items that WERE on the list were items I ordered. Neither the Door Dash deliverer NOR the restaurant checked!!! This MAY be a decent eatery if in person and in house, but I WILL NEVER ORDER take out or Door Dash from them again. They were rude when I tried to get remedy. But? DoorDash ends up having to make remedy for Slurpy Turtle's mistake, it seems, and I am out all this money in the meantime. PLUS I am out the tip. DO NOT ORDER FROM SLURPY TURTLE. Food was somewhat average or less .... I recommend Bewon. You cannot get them from Door Dash ( a negative), but their food is authentic, tasty, clean and HONEST. Slurpy Turtle is a place I will never recommend or buy from again. They do not care about their customers or customer satisfaction. You have been warned.

Their Ramen was pretty unauthentic (2.5/5) and grossly overpriced at $17. I’ve tried their Donburi (also overpriced) and it tastes very bad, like some random mixture of sauces and rice (1/5). Overall everything feels super overpriced here considering their quality.

This was my second time at Slurping Turtle, and the frist time since Covid. II was not let down, I got the California poke bowl and one of the seasonal beverages. It was quite loud in there and it was very busy. We did wait about 30 minutes for a table, but they had a callback (or textback) service, so we were able to walk around a bit while we waited and the host was very friendly.
My food was fresh and tasted good, the drink was also good. The only downside I think I can list were the prices, I know it's downtown Ann Arbor, but I thought my entree was a dollar or two overpriced.
I would definitely eat here again, the duck fat fried chicken ramen looked tempting and I did think the ramen prices were a little more fair. I think I would probably have an even more enjoyable experience during non-peak times.

During our company retreat we reserved a spot for dinner here. We had 8 (was going to be 12) people with us and they seated us in this cool community table style spot on the lower floor. We worked with Melissa to plan and pre-selected our menu and it was very easy. They even printed a custom menu for our dinner!
The Bao was absolutely amazing. The Gyoza were amazing too. The heart of romaine salad was really unique and tasty. As a main we had two types of ramen, the classic pork belly was so good! We also had a vegetarian fried rice that was delicious. The assorted puff pasteries for dessert were wonderful and the overall atmosphere was great. We also really enjoyed that it wasnt too loud and we could all talk and hear each other.

I used to love this place and frequent regularly but our last two visits(one dine in one take out) were beyond disappointing. Ordered take out, drove 30 minutes home just to find noodles and broth with a chopped mushroom or two. My husband left a message about the discrepancy but only got the response "thats how it comes" when we basically order the same thing every time. $17 for what seemed to be the last scraps at the end of the day. This was our anniversary dinner😕

One of the best places for Ramen, rest of the dishes are okay
This is our usual family place for lunches/dinners when we visit Ann Arbor
Red curry Ramen is best
DFCC Miso Ramen is also good, minus the duck fried Chicken.
For appetizers, we had ordered -
1. Hamachi Nachos - Great for Taste, not so great for quantity. We were 5 ppl, but were only served 4 nachos topped with Hamachi. Would have loved to have at-least 1 more piece added for the table
2. Chicken Bao - Our personal taste is having chicken well made, found this one a bit un-cooked, but otherwise a good dish
3. Shrimp Bao - Nothing exciting about this one either, plus, comes with Mayo
4. Spacial Sushi for the day - This one was made with crab, shrimp, asparagus, eel and spicy mayo sauce. I have had much better sushis at other places, found this one bit underwhelming and also not enough quantity/pieces
Overall, we’d prefer this place more for Ramen over any other dish. Sitting arrangements are adequately nice, servers are attentive

Food is mediocre at best. I was blown away by the prices here. $17-25 for ramen. We ordered the classic and didn't have any left overs. Our son ordered ramen and chicken in which he had some leftovers. He is 7 years old. I just wasn't impressed by these noodles, broth, egg and protein. For two people with tip your looking at $60-$70. I'd much rather go to poke fish and have double the ramen for $9.95. Over inflated prices here.

Food: I got the classic ramen and 1. Way too expensive. 2. It was flavorless 3. I remember it being wayyyy better 4. Noodles were not tasty. We got 2 soups and 2 entries and payed $60…. Ridiculous price and I left hungry.
Service: pretty standard
Atmosphere: very loud, could barely hear the person in front of me

I used to love this place, until we were seated and got no service for over 15 minutes. We asked multiple servers who were walking past who our server was supposed to be. We then watched the people, whom were seated well after us, get their drink order taken, drinks brought out to them, and then order taken, all while we still had not been greeted by a server. We had to go up to the host stand, and still did not get service and left.

Took a group of eight here as part of a team dinner on a Tuesday night. The food was okay but I could not be more disappointed with the service. The host was rude, unaccommodating and had an attitude big enough for everyone in the restaurant.
We showed up on time for our 6:30pm reservation and we were told our table wasn't ready. The host said it would be 5 to 10 minutes. An hour later they finally seated us. It was not that busy. There were plenty of other options like a high top table and tables in the downstairs dining area. They were unwilling to seat us anywhere but a low top table because my name was not on the original reservation. We were not allowed to sit at the bar because the bar was actually a table we were told.
No alternative solutions were offered, no thank you for your patience, no I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Just a whole lot of attitude and annoyed expressions when we asked how much longer the wait would be.
Will not be back.

Best Ramen place in Ann Arbor, it is right in the heart of downtown.
We started with the baos which were perfectly soft with crispy fried shiitake and jalapenos, while the chicken tare baos were also delicious.
All their ramens have house made noodles, the Red curry Ramen with a medley of rich bursting flavors and a great combination of mushrooms and fried kabocha in coconut lemongrass broth. The DFFC miso ramen is also to die for. I make it a point to visit this place whenever in Michigan!
Their drink selection is unique and I particularly enjoyed the matcha-tini.
MUST visit, highly recommend.
Next time I will aim to try the sashimi and rolls!

Never had a chance to eat because the server very rudely told me he couldn't substitute on any rolls without rice. Every single sushi place I've been, has a cucumber wrap option. People with dietary restrictions, beware! Don't come here if you're low carb or diabetic because you either won't be able to eat anything, or you'll get sick, and they really don't care.

Ordered Tonkotsu Ramen, With Chachu pork and marinated soft boiled eggs. Pork belly bao. And duck fat fried chicken. Very similar variation of a karaage fried chicken.
Service was great, Food was priced accordingly to the amount of effort that went to make it. I found it very good value value and what I was getting for dinner. Very fair amount of love into The menu items that they shared with us.

Generally a good place to get ramen & fusion Japanese food whenever we’re in town. However our last visit was disappointing. We had the red curry ramen, the DFFC ramen, hiyashi chuka, dragon roll, veggie roll. In general the ramen seemed undercooked and not fresh, although the broth was flavorful. The hiyashi chuka was the biggest letdown, probably because the ramen wasn’t good and there seemed to be significantly more noodles than topping, and the sauce which I think is some kind of roasted sesame dressing felt heavy. I usually like cold noodles and find them refreshing but I think I will stick to traditional cold udon or soba with the dipping sauce. The dragon roll was also underwhelming, the unagi did not taste fresh or had a good eel sauce and the rice was stodgy. The brussel sprout & edamame appetizers were good.

TLDR: excellent food/service, slightly pricey, highly recommend!
Review:
I wish I took photos of the amazing presentation of the food. The Tonkotsu Ramen was fresh, hot, and so flavorful, it was my own fault I burned my mouth, I couldn't stop eating! Tip: Double check how much “stuff” Is in your ramen. I ordered extra pork belly and I definitely did not need it. Although this is a ramen bar, the Dragon Roll was absolutely perfect as well. Crunchy, not overly saucy, and perfectly stuffed. My only complaint was that some of the pork belly pieces were very fatty, while others were absolutely perfect.
Wonderful service from my server Mason, she boxed and bagged my food with care, and even separated the broth from the noodles in my ramen, so it wouldn't be soggy!
Ambience was great too. Everyone was hard at work, yet still had time to smile and greet guests. There was one worker (possibly management) who would make rounds and check on every single guest/party.
Now this next part is to be expected, but it is slightly pricey, especially when you include a well deserved tip. One bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen and a Dragon Roll with a suggested tip ran me about $50. But, for once in a while, treat, I would definitely suggest this location!
Side note, on a previous trip to this restaurant, my party of six, and I were given a hefty discount due to a promotion of some sort.

I highly recommend the Duck Fat Fried Chicken (DFFC) Miso Ramen. The ramen noodles are freshly made in house and has a great bounce in the chew without being too rubbery that other places have. The torched salmon belly and hamachi belly (specialty nigiri) is 🔥🔥. If you’re a roll person the Poke Roll does it for me. Maja my server was amazing, I ask for her every time I come in.

Average ramen and definitely below average sashimi in my opinion. We went on Friday evening and food is slow; 10min for sashimi, which I didn’t finish for the wellness of my stomach and 20min for ramen which is an average 6.5/10, I’ve had better for similar price ($17).

I had a great time here! I was here over the summer and thought that it wouldn’t be as crowded, but I still had to wait for a table with my party, which goes to show the popularity of the restaurant in the college town. The chicken ramen I had was really fulfilling. Normally, I wouldn’t get sushi with ramen, but I was pretty hungry, so I also ordered the sushi and shared it with my group. Honestly, I could have had the whole thing on my own because it was really yummy. If I wanted good Japanese food in a good atmosphere, I would definitely come back here.

Heard a lot about slurping turtle from friends so I decided to try when I was in the area. We got the duck fat fried chicken in spicy Miso Ramen and spicy Tan Tan noodles. We also got a Negitoro Maki to share.
Overall the food was ok. The rice for the maki was too wet in my opinion. Had good flavours at least. For the ramen, both Miso Ramen and tan tan noodles broth tasted similar to each other so that was a little disappointing. The ramen was good at least, it just wasn't anything to rave about. The restaurant had great service, our server was really nice and the dining ambience was pretty chill. Still a decent place to check out if you're craving for ramen in Ann Arbor.

Super rude host. I was very polite and the host obviously didn’t want my business since the host said the empty seats at the table were taken and I gave the host my cell # and was brushed off saying I’d get a text when a table was open but expect 30-40 minute wait. After over an hour I ate somewhere else and back at the hotel now (hours later) and no text ever came. I confirmed my # so obviously it was a some personal thing. Look at my reviews- I give honest reviews and most are positive but this was really unprofessional. Lots of places to eat in Ann Arbor and I won’t be coming back.

The food is always delicious here, but 98% of their seating is not wheelchair accessible/friendly. When I called to ask about the one low-top table they have, I was told there was no way to reserve it. Not because they don't offer reservations, but because they only offer reservations for parties of 6 or more. Since there are only 4 of us, we just have to take our chances that the one table that can accommodate us will be available.

This is one of the more pricy sushi/ramen restaurants in Downtown Ann Arbor, but I'd say it's well worth it for an occasional treat. I've been here when it's busy and less busy, and both times the servers were friendly and fast. They do wrap up leftovers in a to-go box and give you a bag if you want.
The blackberry sage spritzer is my go-to drink. It's a lovely reddish color and the carbonation compliments this type of meal.
I've had the Spicy Tuna Deluxe specialty Sushi roll and very much enjoyed it. Note that one of its toppings is masago, which is Smelt roe (eggs of Smelt fish). The masago felt more like a garnish that mostly added color/texture rather than a defining flavor. It was quite pleasant.
I can also recommend the Red Curry Ramen. It's filled with interesting and delicious toppings and the homemade noodles are good. Because of how large the bowl is, I wasn't able to finish it.

It is so hard to find good ramen in the US at times but this is a very good option. Spacious place, with very good service and delicious ramen dishes. I had the traditional shoyu ramen and the broth was very good, not very spicy, if that is your thing. My companion had one of the spicy ramens and approved the taste and the level of heat. Prices were a bit on the high side but e left very satisfied. For those who prefer sushi, they also have an extensive selection.

The duck fat fried chicken should be illegal. It’s literally too good, I’ll be dreaming about it now.

The DFFC miso ramen was incredibly well spiced, never had kimchi in ramen but it was delicious. the ramen bowls are also on the larger side, very filling! The duck fat fried chicken was tender and went perfectly with the sauce. Service was also great.

The food was amazing very intricate ingredients but with shellfish allergies there's not too many options but you can make substitutions if need be. As far as serving the person who waited my table was very knowledgeable but would only pop around every 15 to 30 minutes so if you think you may want anything extra just get it out the way early. The prices also are a little hiked compared to the servings you recieve.

Amazing atmosphere and even more amazing cuisine! I have been coming here since they opened and although I no longer live in Ann Arbor, when I’m in town this is always the first place to eat!

Loved eating here! This place was delicious! A lil pricey. The staff as soon as you walk in was very friendly and was able to seat us immediately. Our server was very kind and answered a few questions our table had, as well as making recommendations.
The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered several sushi rolls and a few Ramen bowls. Everyone enjoyed everything and we highly recommend eating here!

we got the bao buns and nachos and literally mind blown. The nachos are just four chips so don’t expect quantity but they’re so delectable and powerful in every bite that you feel fancy and worth it

The quality of ramen here is unmatched for the area! I love the TanTan Men Ramen, can’t go here without ordering it. Their rolls are super fresh and tasty. My favorite to order is their Spicy Tuna Deluxe (specialty roll) and I have tried the Hamachi Belly Specialty Nigiri and it was delicious! Those are my go-tos here. If you want a cocktail to go with your meal, the Toki Lemonade is refreshing and my go-to drink when there.
We visit at least twice a month, and Slurping has never let us down. Super friendly service every time also!

I absolutely adore this place. I've only been twice so far but it is 100% one of my new go to restaurants in Ann Arbor. Fair warning they are super busy, if you're going in a group you need to make a reservation. The first time I went was for a friend's birthday party and they were able to accommodate 15 of us since she had called earlier that morning to make a reservation. Both the food and the drinks are absolutely delicious. I always get the Sunday morning roll, it is by far my favorite sushi I have ever had anywhere. The presentation of the dishes are stunning, I would honestly pay way more for the food here. It is on the pricier side compared to other sushi restaurants in Ann Arbor but in my opinion it is well worth it. I just ate here alone yesterday and despite the hour wait, I was able to be seated at the bar downstairs right away which was amazing. I've gotten the haru mojito both times I went here & it's one of my favorite drinks in town. I wasn't a huge fan of the sochu mixed drink I got, but that's just personal preference, it still tastes great!! The bartender was super nice & so was everyone working there despite the insane amount of people, I'm sure working there is so chaotic.

In my time spent in Japan a lot of the ramen I had there comes nowhere close to the ramen you can get here at slurping turtle, especially the duck fat fried chicken. This place is always crowded and unfortunately attracts kind of a rowdy crowd sometimes but the food and service is incredible. The venue is beautiful and pays tribute to Otaku anime culture with a giant mural on the far wall.
If youre here in Ann Arbor on business and are tired of steak, this is definitely the place to be.
Edit: The above review was my opinion a couple years prior and now in 2024 I'm happy to say that the experience is still just as good, they have changed their interior a little bit and their plateware has changed. (Maybe you get slightly less ramen? I doubt it but the bowl is slightly smaller) But overall the flavors are still fantastic. Especially the Duck Fat Fried Chicken!

Was very happy with everything we had. Pork belly stir fry was perfectly cooked. Bao was interesting, a little difficult to eat, but good. Cali roll was a little on the small side compared to most places, but considering it was a shareable for us that worked out fine. Would certainly go back.
