Izakaya, yakitori, ramen, and full bar serving Japanese sake, whisky, and cocktails
Our visit encompassed welcoming staff and tasty food. The menu has a plethora of authentic offerings, as well as delicious cocktails 🍸 - my Lycheetini was 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lunch time was perfect, no need for a reservation. Something that was a pleasant surprise, were the French fries - not sure if that’s Japanese but they were AMAZING! I’d highly recommend and would visit again. There are two parking 🅿️ garages nearby, very rare is there parking in front.

The yakitori here is authentic and delicious. Great flavor and you can really taste the smokiness from the grill. Beef tongue and pork belly were my favorite. The chicken yakitori is basic and I would pass next time. The “Delicious Shochu” cocktail was so good! It was strong, but you couldn’t taste the alcohol. Highly recommended for people who like refreshing, fruity cocktails. Unfortunately the thing that will prevent me from coming here often are their prices! You have to order a lot of skewers and apps to feel full. Their yakitori is double the price of “Izakaya Ittoku” in Cambridge! At $5-$7 PER skewer here, that’s really pushing it. Don’t get me started about the prices of their sushi and rolls. Dinner for 2 with 1 drink each cost us >$150. If they want to brand themselves as a higher end Japanese restaurant for locals in Watertown, that’s fine. But know that they will lose out on a lot of Boston Asian clientele that flock towards restaurants that offer more affordable, casual dining. I will save this spot for only when I want to splurge.

So happy to have a restaurant that has Yakitori Omakase in Boston. My friends and I loved every course and the pairing drinks also incredible.
I returned for the Tuna cutting event. It was a fun night. I liked the tuna skewer, and tuna ramen so much.

I enjoyed this place more or less. The price was a bit steep. In this price range there are many good competitors (for example, YakitoriTotto etc.) which I wont compare them here since in the end of the day, it's the personal preference most of the time.
The restaurant has japanese style/atmostphere.
The menu was mainly Yakitori (as expected from the name) and a lot of appetizer. Not much of the main dishes to try out (in terms of types, such as Ramen and Curry, not the combinations (types of meats/toppings to put on)).
Most of the yakitori were well seasoned and cooked. All of them came with smoke scent from the charcoal grill, which is good. Only a few of them, such as the Gyu Sagari (Hanger Steak), that was a bit overcooked, which makes it a little chewy, and the Tebasaki (Chicken Wings) that was a bit burnt at the ends. However, all of them are still very delicious and enjoyable.
The servers were nice. One comment is that I felt that they were a bit too rush on taking away my empty plates. Maybe it was almost the closing time + I was the only customer so they paid a lot of attention to me. That's ok, I do appreciate the timely service you provided, I just felt a a bit tight to have someone come and grab your plate as soon as you finish.
Overall, I do enjoy the place and would recommend you to come try it out. The area also has many other restaurants in case this place is fully booked for the night.

I love the vibe at this Japanese restaurant – it's the perfect spot for a weekend hangout with friends. The crew is exceptionally friendly and responsive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Special shoutout to the stylish guy at the barbecue stove who adds a cool touch to the experience.
The food is generally on point, aligning well with the prices. The standout for me is the enticing aroma of charcoal, which adds a delightful touch. However, I do have a small reservation about the chicken thigh. It seems the choice of chicken impacts the taste, and my guess is that they might be using frozen thighs from caged-raised white feather chickens instead of freshly cut ones from cage-free yellow chickens. This could be limiting the flavor potential. Nevertheless, the overall experience, especially the charcoal aroma, makes up for it. A great place for a weekend meal with friends!

I thought a lot before putting writing this review. I went there for dinner late on Black Friday. Was really tired and hungry. The place was busy so we got a place in the bar area right next to the yakatori grill.
While we’re waiting for the food suddenly saw a baby cockroach crawling in the bar space in front of me. I immediately called the server and he killed and disposed of it. The manager came and apologized (didn’t sound very sincere) and moved us to a table. This is the second time we went there as enjoyed the food last time. They gave me a 50% discount on my bill.
On hindsight I should have just left as I didn’t really enjoy the food with the thought of cockroach lingering l.
I cannot imagine if a cockroach is freely roaming in customer area what would the kitchen look like?

Shoyu ramen tasted like chicken noodle soup. Only toppings were half an egg, sliced chicken, and more onion, green onion, and corn than you actually need. It wasn't unpleasant, but I couldn't taste any shoyu. My girlfriend got a different flavor of ramen (Yuzu) and it was just the same thing with Yuzu added in, very powerful chicken flavor.
Furthermore, they were missing a few dishes I consider to be a Japanese restaraunt staple, such as miso soup (separate from ramen) or vegetable tempura. Appetizers were pricey, so we just got one. Takoyaki was great, but overall I wish they had more to offer and that their ramen actually tasted like ramen.
Finally, bathroom was unkempt and trash was overflowing. I understand things happen, and that maybe it was just a bad night, but I was hoping for a bit more from how the place looked from the outside.

Pork belly stewer was amazing. Sushi melted in your mouth. Other yummy apps, very tender chicken. Menu is more limited but high quality!

For my entree I ordered one sushi roll and I waited too long for it. My other five friends received all of their food and finished and still waited with me for my food to arrive. I definitely waited more than 40 minutes for the roll and we confirmed it’s still in the works in case the server forgot to punch it in. The server never checked up on us or told us the food status. I did enjoy the food but overall the vibe was ruined.

I was here last week with my niece. I usually take her out to Japanese cuisines since it’s her favorite, I’m limited since I’m vegan and I have to be very careful with my choices if I do go somewhere that has limited options for me. The food was alright. The problem I have with this place was the wait time to be seated and even given a menu, and even the check towards the end. This is very review I’ve ever written about an experience in a restaurant because almost all of my experiences have been amazing until last week. I don’t know if the staff was short staffed or incompetent or simply just not qualified but I can never came back there after being made to wait as long as I did without even being informed of a possible wait time. I can’t say I’m disappointed, all I know is that this place will never be a recommendation to my clients or even close friends. Like I said the food was alright, had some flavor but really nothing to write home about.

My boyfriend and I come here 2-3 times a month and we always have quality experiences. All of the sushi options are top tier and the yakitori is delicious—especially when the head chefs are in the kitchen. The staff is EXCEPTIONAL, literally the friendliest staff I’ve have ever consistently encountered. They are also dog-friendly on their patio and treat our dog with love by all knowing his name and bringing him water every time. On the occasions that we leave him home, they ask about him when we sit inside. They’re really such a great establishment!

Great soup. But sushi is below so-so. If asking for wine you ll get the smallest amount ever with a cube of ice in it. The most unpleasant was that the bartender chased us to tell us that we should have given higher tip because we are obligated. When explained the above, including that food was not great and was sent back multiple times and order was messed up, she still demanded higher than $10 tip. This totally ruined the whole atmosphere. We were tipping with respect to the server.

Honestly, I had high expectations for the price. Unfortunately they didn't meet them. The miso ramen was mediocre at best. Place with so much wasted potential. They try to keep up the appearance of an authentic yakitori place but without the skills to match their ambitions. Interior is reasonably modern, they have a very classic Japanese playlist (think Tamaki Koji), and they even use proper charcoal to grill the chicken. However, what’s missing is the quality of ingredients and the chef’s skill. The chicken skin I ordered was discolored and flabby likely because it came from a grocery store that’s been sitting out for a few days. The gyu-tan was way overcooked and extremely salty. The ankimo was clearly cut from pre-packaged tubes with garnish that did not add anything.
Quite sad as I wanted this to be good given the dearth of options in the Boston area. You would not regret skipping, not missing out on much.

The staff are some of the friendliest people. Food comes out fresh hot and fast. Easy to eat family style with the skewers and appetizers, but also easy to eat separately with the ramen or rices. Place also has a great comforting vibe. And the flavored house-made sodas are delicious!

Tori Jiro is underrated in my opinion. The service is great, the atmosphere is quiet and spacious, food is delicious and priced reasonably with a great selection of Japanese sake. If anything, there are too many options on the menu and it should be minimized to specialize in some items only. Izakaya is typically a hangout spot that serves tapa style skewers in Japan, I hope Boston appreciates its first restaurant here!

The overall experience was bland, boring, mundane. Tori Jiro is a well renowned franchise in Japan, yet the only one we have in Massachusetts has fallen way below bar in professionalism, cleanliness, and content. I can’t speak on the rest of the menu however, I had the salmon lovers plate, with salmon prepared 3 “different ways”. The presentation of the dish was lacking, and there was absolutely no flavor, in anything, except for the soy sauce, that was good. For some reason, the branch here decided to exclusively play cover music. Every single song that played was a botched version of nearly every hit in the past couple of years. Tori Jiro has the potential to be something greater than it currently is, but the service is mediocre and the servers themselves don’t seem to care too much about how they are perceived. Carrying reused rags around their waist and sitting in the dining room on their phones with guests present. Personally, I could care less, however, it doesn’t look good, and it was just one more thing that disabled me from enjoying anything in the establishment.

I like this place. But, you need to know what it is so you can enjoy it. Its not a place to sit down and have a full dinner. Its a place to bring a friend, or friends, and share some small plates of good Japanese food and drinks. The ramen was excellent- nice salty broth and perfectly cooked noodles. The eel skewer was great, and the chicken meatballs were good. Also, the spicy chicken wings are good as well.

Fake Chinese owned Japanese restaurant. Overpriced. The ramen noodle only have chicken, 4 pcs 1/8” thin chicken. You have to pay for additional topping and spicy oil too? This isn’t neighborhood business. It’s fast money generating to rip-off tourists. Not recommended. Stay away.

We had mixed reviews from friends so we decided to give this place a shot. However, all the yakitori we got was charred and we were charged with food we didn't order (they placed gyoza on our table and we thought it was complimentary until the bill came out). The portions for each skewer was also smaller than expected, so we basically got small chunks of charcoal with some dried meat inside. The restaurant looks nice though. It looks like a place you'd want to bring someone for a date, but unfortunately, the food was not good at all.

This was our first time visiting this place and will not be the last for sure. We visited this place for my husband's birthday and we were not disappointed. Everything tasted so yummy. We ordered skewers, ramen, Donburi, and cocktails. Although they are known for their yank tori I was very much impressed by their ramen. I always had ramen with pork base soup but this was all chicken. I liked it so much that I ordered one to take home. I'm still dreaming about the next time I'll be having that ramen. The service was good. They were gentle and were good at suggesting the items to try. The ambiance has a good vibe. They have outdoor seating as well.

Completely unimpressed with this ramen.
First of all they didn't even have tonkotsu broth. How can you have a ramen shop without this?
The egg was actually very good.
The meat was ok. Not the right kind of pork belly - in fact not pork belly at all. It was ok but not the right meat. Major fail here.
Noodles were ordinary at best. Didn't even eat them.
Would not go back.

The food was good. Nothing great, but definitely pork free friendly. Service was spot on for a Saturday lunch with an attentive staff. The chicken ramen broth was good. I do wish the taiyaki was bigger for something that's 7 dollars. I did ask for ice cream on the side for an extra 5. Karrage chicken was good. Nothing to right home about, but definitely hits the spot.

Went with a group of friends and family tonight and we were sat by the patio. Our waiter was helpful, recommended us to try yakitori Japanese style food on skewers also some of the good drinks. We love the momo (chicken tigh), salmon and tuna nigiri (for the kids), cold sake dassai 45 and spicy yuzu magarita cocktail!! Such a lovely night out and would recommend to our friends as well.

We got charged for an extra egg yolk tare we did not order, and an extra bowl of ramen we did not order. I also got served the wrong beer! Read the receipt before you pay!
Also, for $4 a skewer, I would have imagined a bigger skewer or a more interesting flavor. Instead, it's 3 anemic pieces of pretty typical teriyaki chicken. Not worth

The drinks and food are good enough unless you look at the line and see nothing is made fresh. Everything is frozen and is deep fried to order. Also, the service is good unless you go when it’s busy and then expect not much attention. Most of the servers are nice, except the bartenders that gave me attitude. It was clear to me that they didn’t want to be there and I noticed that they talked down to the other servers. I guess there’s a staffing issue there.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I loved all the yakitoris, love the chicken karaage, and love the table cooked scallops. The staff who served us was also very nice.
Ambiance is nice. However, there was a leak in the roof next to our table. Despite the minor inconvenience, I would still recommend this restaurant for its great food and service!

The food here was really good and the atmosphere is authentic japanese. The service was also excellent. I recommend the lamb chop, steak, and pork belly yakitori, as well as the table grilled scallop as an appetizer. During my visit however there was some sort of leak coming from the top. I was excited when I came upon this place. It looks the part and the people are lovely.
I'm pretty picky and was recently in Japan for a few weeks so maybe expectations were inappropriate.
All in all, I'd say it's a neat place and you should check it out.
They have a bunch of Japanese foods and that's neat to find.
Details of my meal-
The ramen broth seemed like standard chicken broth tweaked a bit and I couldn't seem to find an option for other noodle types. Neither of those are wins for me.
The egg was pretty solid though.
The skewers I tried were ok.
The eel didn't have the fat seared (which could just be a personal preference but it's a strong one) and the pork fat was meh.
The chicken thighs were a highlight though.

Food was really good, service not, at all. Extremely disengaged staff. My first time there and pretty much my last. Went out with my daughter and two of my grandchildren. We decided to go to Tori Jiro, we been to most of the restaurants by Arsenal Yard but no to Tori Jiro. Well, with got there, the waitresses were by the bar talking to each, one of them approach us and sitted us, at no point she introduced herself. Then, another waitress brought us the menu(didn'tintroduce herself). We browsed over the menu after a good 10-15 minutes we were ready to order, While waiting for one of the waitress to come back. We went to the bathroom one by one washed our hands and back to the table. The waitress never came back. We kept looking to where they were and none of them look at us, until my daughter decided to call them and one finally came ( the restaurant was nearly empty, just another table believe there were two adults and two young children). Like the two previous staff, he did not introduced himself, just took our oder, did not asked if we wanted something to drink or if we had any question about the menu.
After we placed our order, we didn't have to wait long for the food, presentation was good, food was good.
It was just the service, how disengaged the waitresses were.
Two of them were talking to each, the other one sitting look at his phone. It felt like we weren't there. At one point we needed more napkins and my daughter had to get up and get it herself and they didn't even noticed it. Good food, good ambience, yet their customers services needs to improve.

Thrilled to have a yakitori place in Arsenal Yards! Is it the best Japanese food in the area? No. But not bad for Watertown. The ramen was perfectly cooked, not soggy, but the char shew was disappointing. It looked and tasted like thinly sliced ham. The half boiled egg was perfect and I liked the clear shio soup base. Kaki fries were fresh, though the sauce used was not complimentary for kaki fries.

Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Yakitori was well-cooked and flavorful. Loses a point for the value though; portion sizes were very small and if you come hungry, dinner will be quite pricey compared to other Boston restaurants of similar style/quality. Maybe best to come for late-night or afternoon snacks and drinks, rather than a full meal.

Great vibes, amazing food, super friendly service. Sat at the bar with my wife. We ordered kaiyaki (grilled scallops), three different yakitori skewers (king oyster mushroom, pork belly, Momo chicken thigh), chicken karaage, takoyaki, and miso ramen. Everything came out quickly. The grilled scallops came out on a gas-power hot plate in butter and scallions, it was definitely the highlight for me. The yakitori skewers were delicious, next time I will try the rest of them. All the types of chicken we ordered (thigh skewer, karaage, and in the ramen) were so tender. The server working the bar noticed how much we liked the food and treated us to complimentary yellowtail belly sashimi, which was so tender and fresh. Phenomenal experience and flavors. On the way out, the staff all thanked us for coming in both English and Japanese (love when Japanese restaurants are run by actual Japanese people). Will definitely come back!

I walked in on a busy Friday and got seated immediately. I had an excellent meal that was reasonably priced, with great wait staff. I ordered several yakitori skewers (the chicken thigh was amazing), a spicy yellowtail hand roll, and a miso ramen with perfectly fried chicken karage. Everything was delicious and I wish I could have ordered more. Tori Jira also has an extensive selection of Japanese whiskeys and sake for a reasonable price.
This is a great spot for some delicious comfort Japanese food, with a variety of small plates and drinks. I will absolutely be back!

My wife and I had dinner at Tori Jiro, and loved it. She had ramen with miso broth and I had vegetable curry rice bowl with chicken added. We also got a couple of yakitori skewers--the oyster mushrooms and hangar steak--and had taiyaki for dessert. (That's a fish-shaped pastry filled with bean paste, which they serve with a dab of whipped cream.) The food was all really delicious! The staff was very attentive, and service was great. It's also a really lovely restaurant, so was overall a very nice experience.

Amazing food - great service. Presentation is wonderful and atmosphere is good.

it's too expensive for the type of food that they serve especially when you are expected to order multiple of the same thing for the entire table. yakitori needs to be seasoned in sauces too which are notably absent. service is slow too. not recommended. if you do stumble in there, the food is passible.

Food was decent albeit pricy... Highly recommend the yakitori and the seared mackerel!
The atmosphere is very nice, and the interior is a lot more spacious than you'd assume.
Bonus points: the bathroom was very clean and had a super nice asthetic.

Can't wait to come back again! We ordered a bunch of stuff, and the hot appetizers stood out the most. Takoyaki, fried oysters and grilled scallops were outstanding. Also great was the seared mackerel sashimi. Surprisingly, the yakitori was the weakest offering. It was very plain. Another surprise was the unexpectedly enormous bill, but we did order a lot of dishes and left very satisfied.

This place is okay. They serve only ramen on chicken broth. The place is small you have to make a reservation otherwise you most likely will not be seated. The first time I came there with my friend everything was okay, the only problem was our server, he was rushing us even tho the place was almost empty. Right after we finished our ramen he brought us our check, however, we did not ask him for a check just yet. We told him that we want dessert, and he made a face and left.
The second time we came there we were a party of 6. This time the server was good, he was friendly and he did not rush us. However, in the end, they messed up our checks. I do not know what is going on with their service but be aware that you either will be rushed like me the first time or they might mess up your checks. The food was good.

The quality is not good. It’s very pricy for the little portion.

Great food, friendly staff, and the atmosphere is upbeat. I recommend all the dishes mentioned below but my FAV is the lamb chop.

Great sashimi quality. Chicken meatball skewers with egg were to die for. Scallops were served as they should be; cooked right in front of you on a shell over flame. Just watch out for the pops of grease or water or whatever because it hit my face. Drinks are all fantastic. Service was fast enough and it was a full restaurant.

AMAZING RAMEN AND MARTINIS

Not the best experience. Our server was supposed to inform us beforehand about an additional (albeit confusing) charge that would be added to our bill, and when addressed nothing was done about it other than “Oh sorry we’ll make sure that we inform customers better in the future” which isn’t at all helpful to us. It was also pretty barren in there, so it’s not like the issue was in haste. Just left a bad taste in my mouth. Also, the ramen was just ok, flavor was good but kind of gloppy and not authentic. Won’t be coming back.

Service is extremely slow and non-responsive. We tried so many times to just get utensils, plates, and napkins after food is served. Food is really plain and seems like pre-packaged food and not authentic Japanese style at all.

Awesome food, fantastic service. The team is incredibly friendly.

The staff was great but to be honest , it's supposed to be a yakitori place but the choices were minimal and very expensive for what it is. The flavor was ok on the yakitori at best.
As for the people saying how good the ramen is I'm confused because it was like eating the package ramen noodles. For $14 there are much better ramen places.

Good yakitori. Gyoza was also good. Beers Sapporo and Asahi were quite different in taste from the original beers

Got the miso ramen, It was decent. The chicken charsu was cold and not charred at all. The broth also wasn't very hot, It was more just warm, The flavor was pretty good though. The service was good and fast. I thought it was odd that they only had chicken as an option for the ramen topping, and no pork belly.

An authentic Japanese izakaya you won't forget ! Everything was super delicious staff is Amazing and friendly and also gives good recommendation. My friend and I had a bit of takoyaki, gyozas, 3 different types of yakitori and fried calamari. It tastes like heaven !!! We wanted also the grilled scallops but it went sold out unfortunately 😢 Great great place !

Delicious! Food was fantastic and plated beautifully! The staff was so friendly! The vibe is beautiful and the drinks were delicious! The only thing I wish they could change was the seating. The tables were so close together that my husband almost smacked the couple sitting next to us while he was talking (he talks with his hands lol).

This is a nice Japanese restaurant in Arsenal Yards, and we had great experience here.
Food: great skewers and yakitori. The vegetables and fresh and well done! We tried the beef tongue which is also tasty. The only downside is the lack of offer of a chilly spices
Service: the server is very attentive, but not the ones hovers above you.
Parking: super easy and free. This is a great bonus.

My wife and I were seated quickly at lunch time, servers were great and gave good recommendations for the sake. I got the shio ramen with extra noodles and it was delicious, I'd absolutely recommend Tori Jiro.v

If you love Japanese food but are looking to mix it up, try this Kushiyaki place. At Tori Jiro you get a more unique experience ordering small dishes in a casual bar setting. Great place to have a nice night out with your food-obsessed friends. You can order as you go in rounds, and they have a large Japanese drink selection as well. The scallops were especially good; they cook right at your table, 15 seconds each side. Expect a good sized bill if you're hungry, but we for sure would go again!

This is a great Japanese spot right in Arsenal Yards. The food was delicious (in particular the ramen) and the drinks were also great. Our server was very nice but they brought out food at weird times - main course before apps, forgot one dish, etc. It was a really busy sat night and these things happen. Overall a great choice if you want some yummy yakitori or sushi! Prices were reasonable for the area.
