Omakase Sushi and traditional sushi
I have been here a few times and cannot say enough good things about this place! Alan handles the food with such care and thought and truly is excited to share different dishes with his guests.
Tonight we did omakase style dining and were so happy with our experience. Mojo sushi has become a staple restaurant of ours and I encourage anyone to visit this place to try the best sushi you will have in Massachusetts.

After our plans for the night changed we decided on going out to dinner for sushi, trying something new. Mojo was a very small restaurant but had many seats outside. Inside, there were 2 tables but they could split up the tables for multiple small parties. There was a sushi bar with seats available for customers to sit at as well.
We ordered 2 Thai iced teas and 4 different dishes of sushi. The Fantastic Roll was amazing and you HAVE to order it!!!! Can't go wrong with the Philadelphia and anything with Tempura shrimp or crab.

Went looking for a good sushi place in North Shore and Mojo came up. This is one for the best sushi places I’ve been to around here that has traditional rolls. I got the Spicy Tuna, Sweet Potato, and Shrimp Tempura Rolls and they were all good. I haven’t had a better sweet potato roll anywhere and they use the perfect amount of eel sauce. We sat outside and they have a nice step up with overhead string lights but ins inside they leave the doors open but have screens to prevent bugs. The service was very good but she was pushy especially when it came time to pay. I do still recommend this place because the food outweighs that factor.

This humble little gem is so unassuming and is an absolute MUST TRY. My partner treated us to their omakase experience, and it was one of the best omakase experiences I've ever had —like top two kind of best. It was very low key and mixed with a la carte patrons, but the attending sushi chef still conveyed an intimate atmosphere that rivals any other purely omakase joint.
What stood out about the omakase lineup here is the inventiveness and sheer thought put into each piece. They presented flavor combinations I had not seen elsewhere while still keeping it simple and clean —which is just so impressive to me. The quality and price point is also the best value I've seen while still leaving pleasantly full.
The most notable to me was their Toro. I've had mouth-melting Toro before, but they found a way to take it to another level. Brain-melting Toro. Heaven in the mouth. Also, they paired uni with one of the pieces and it was the best tasting uni I've ever had. This place is a blessing. Go here and get blessed. Amen.

This place is lovely!! My husband and I were here for the first time for good sushi and we definitely found it and it was definitely a hit. I also love Lemon Lime Oo long tea, my husband love avocado smoothie! We both are not a fan of sweets so the drinks were absolutely right for us. Service was also great. We will definitely be back.

I had an excellent omakase experience here! I had never had omakase before, and after searching reviews this seemed like a great first place to try. It did not disappoint! Each course was amazing, with flavors that layered and transitioned in each bite. The fish was incredibly fresh, and it had that unique character that only really fresh fish can have. The chef was entertaining but not intrusive, and he was clearly a master of his art. The finishing was a dessert of green tea tiramisu which was flown in from Japan--absolutely delicious with a light green tea flavor and not overwhelmingly sweet. Everything was excellent!

Went here for the first time today, and it definitely won't be the last.
The chef/owner clearly takes pride in his work, as he should. Each piece of nigiri was deliciously seasoned/garnished, and thoughtfully explained when we received it.
This was a great location for me to try several new varieties of fish because they were all definitely fresh and presented with care.
The owner was a little quiet at first, but quite funny once we started chatting a bit.
Lubina, Hamachi belly, and torched salmon belly were freaking amazing.

This sushi is so deliciously good. It is Omakase style nigiri even if you aren't ordering the full Omakase meal and the chef seasoned everything so well. We ordered the tuna dumpling, a Fantastic Roll and a Salmon Love roll, and a good amount of Nigiri. Next time we'll definitely be making a reservation for the multi-course Omakase menu.

From the moment you step in, their warm hospitality makes you feel at home. The freshness of the sushi is unmatched, with each piece expertly crafted and bursting with flavor.

We expected a higher scale place, so we were a bit disappointed. But when the omakase arrived, it was like finding the stairway to heaven in your own attic.
The staff is nice, and gives you a familiar vibe.
But the artist is the sushi chef, who makes this place a real hidden gem in the Northern Greater Boston food scene.

What a hidden gem of an amazing little Japanese/sushi/omakase spot in the north shore! Affordable omakase and I am so happy they recently added on some alcoholic beverages, which go so well with the fish!
I have already visited twice - once for dinner (omakase at the sushi counter when they were super busy!) and once sitting outside for lunch (sashimi omakase where we were the only customers). The sushi chef/owner works hard and you can tell he has a passion for this! Prefer this over the overpriced spots in Boston 100%

This small, local sushi spot is honestly a hidden gem! My wife and I did Omakase (chefs menu) as we typically do at sushi spots. Every single nigiri was brilliant! The chef walked around the bar and explained every single piece, where the fish was sourced from, each little ingredient, etc! If you’re a sushi fan on the north shore, you shouldn’t miss Mojo!!

I try not to be a sushi snob, but I know the difference between good sushi and okay sushi from my days in Tokyo. But MOJO has really upped the game with great sushi. Very fresh and packed with intense flavors reflecting their new modern style. Not cheap but worth it!

The basics in good sushi is good rice and good soy sauce. This place only had good fish. If you are looking for Americanized sushi, this place is great for you. But if you are Japanese or eaten in Japan, this place is very western and probably be extremely disappointed.
The rice was mushy and had no texture or structure. The soy sauce was Chinese soy sauce, not Japanese. They did have somewhat good quality wasabi.
The appetizers were better than the rest of the meal for us. The monkfish liver was tasty but there were too many other things in the dish that distracted from the monkfish liver. This is definitely catered to Americans. The tri trio nigiri set was impressive, but again the rice was complete mush.
The rolls were covered in sauces and too American. It is wasteful of good quality fish. I am so upset that the Toro Roll was covered in mayonnaise. I was so disappointed since the fish was actually good but I couldn't eat it since it tasted like only mayo.
The workers spoke Mandarin and were very kind and polite.
This place isn't authentic Japanese sushi, but American fusion sushi. This place may be best for the area since it is mostly Americans.

Hands down the best poké bowl I’ve ever had. Well worth the price. And trust me, I’ve eaten A LOT of poké. From NH, to CT, to MD. Nothing in the area compares to this. The salmon was fresh, and instead of the tiny little cubes most places give you — you get full strips from a filet! I tried it without the spicy mayo sauce, and the bowl itself is already so flavorful. The people inside were welcoming as well. I will definitely be returning :)

Delicious meal, extremely fresh fish. We went for lunch and got the omakase, at $90 per person for a 16 course meal, it’s such a great value (compared to almost $200+ in Boston). Fish is shipped from Japan twice weekly. We were there for lunch and it was like we had a private chef experience, we sat at the counter and the chef placed freshly prepped nigiri on our plates. Highly recommend, definitely coming back here!

I thought I knew sushi until yesterday… I went in between lunch & dinner so only the chef was there…I had ordered on the phone to takeout but when I arrived I found the restaurant to be so cute & welcoming so I ate on the patio… the Chef proudly handed me my bag & told me I should use soy sauce but to enjoy the fresh flavors of the sea & freshness…despite the soy sauce in my bag I took his advice…WOW‼️‼️The uni was as fresh as when I pulled it from the ocean when we dove for it in Italy‼️ The the eel melted in my mouth with amazing flavor bombs and the toro omggggg was like nothing I’ve ever had‼️ The chef proudly told me the origin and he obviously takes pride in his craft…. The miso soup was also velvety & delicious! I’ve already called people to tell them of this amazing restaurant with an incredible sushi chef! I’m going back and n a few days to truly dine & im very excited!!!!! Thank you Chef! You changed my life with your sushi ‼️‼️Sorry for the photos I need a new phone lol

I dined at Mojo for the omakase menu and it was OUTSTANDING! This was no ordinary sushi experience. The fish was sourced from around the world and was expertly prepared right in front of us. It was like watching an artist at work. Every bite was a little bit different and introduced new and nuanced flavors and textures.
I had high expectations for Mojo and was still blown away. The taste and presentation of the food was incredible. The value is unbeatable (omakase for under $100 is unheard of). The chef was very personable and made sure we had a memorable experience. All in a cozy little storefront outside the city.

My husband and I came here to experience the omakase and it was a very special evening! We sat at the counter and Chef Allen was so kind and warm. He put a lot of care and expertise into crafting each bite of nigiri. 🍣 The decor of the place is very very simple and Chef Allen said that is because he would rather put all the focus on the quality of the food.
Some of our favorite parts were the trout with roe on top, the blue fin tuna, and the Chawanmushi (savory egg pudding.) Chef Allen showed us how he gets fresh delivers of fish twice a week from Japan 🇯🇵 and that’s why the sushi 🍱 is so delicious. He has a lot of interesting sauces and toppings that he put on each bite of nigiri.
We also tried a roll of sushi called the Salmon Love and it was delicious.
They even gave my husband a delicious complimentary piece of the matcha tiramisu because we were celebrating his birthday 🥳!
We are planning to come back on Saturday night for dinner with a friend! Definitely sit at the counter if you can. As the others have said, this is a very small family run business for now so please be patient and kind with them as they are growing.

This place is genuinely unreal. Best sushi I’ve ever had- hands down. It’s a small restaurant that feels homey. The chef chats with you as he cooks, and it’s very personal.
As the other comments have said, the fish is flown in from Japan. It’s all so fresh. I’ve never tasted sushi that tasted like this.
I flew in on Sunday and wanted sushi. I could not believe Mojo had a perfect 5 stars, so I had to try it. I had lunch here Sunday and I’m back today (Wednesday) for dinner. I usually like more variety in my dining, but I can’t stay away!
Seriously seriously worth the trip, I will be coming back here routinely. I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant.

I've had a number of different omakase experiences over the years in Boston (e.g Umami, No Relations, O Ya, Uni, Cafe Sushi, Zuma, Ruka, Laughing Monk, Momi Nonmi, Ebi, Purple Shell) and this is probably my overall favorite spot for omakase in the area when considering the balance of the price, the quality of the fish, the rice, and experience.
The omakase is currently priced at $90 for 14 different courses (12 pieces of nigiri, 2 cold appetizer/refreshers, plus a free miso soup) in which the experience lasts about a little over 1 hour.
I loved that almost half of the fish served were directly imported from Japan and that I was able to taste the natural fresh cleanliness of the fish. This was very much appreciated and important to me given that i personally think that the fish itself should be the center of attention and not all the additional unnecessary glitzy jazzy add-ons which may sometimes overpower the fish itself.
The Hokkaido sea urchin here was also very delicious! If you order this a la carte, they will only charge you $8 dollars for this which is an absolute steal considering the quality that you are getting. I love sea urchin and I've easily paid 2-3x more for this at other restaurants and they were nowhere as good.
I left here very happy and will look forward to coming back!

BEST sushi around. My husband and I did the omakase (chef tasting menu) where a fresh piece of sushi gets put in front of you to pop in your mouth immediately. 14 rounds! Chefs choice, and each piece has its own flair of added flavor/topping to complement the (freshest) fish. I have to travel a bit to get here, but I will be coming back frequently! New favorite spot.

This was our first omakase experience, and it was nothing short of an amazing meal. Allen and his wife are friendly and personable people, which adds even more to this lovely restaurant experience. As for the omakase, it was easily the best sushi i've had in my life, with a fun variety of fish and seafood throughout the meal. Hands down one of the best sushi meals I've ever had! There is a lot on the menu which is made more impressive when you realize that the whole place is run by 2 people: the Chef and his partner. With notice, go for the omakase; you will NOT be disappointed and can get the 14 pieces complete in under an hour. Other patrons were devouring the various Ramen/noodle soups. It's a small place...just 5 seats at the counter and a small number of tables in an adjacent room though they have a large front patio that I'm sure will be packed with warmer weather. They were very accommodating to my 7 year old but I would not say it's a place for active kiddos. That said, my son is asking to go back next week for more Nigiri.

Run, run, run to try Mojo Sushi in Wakefield. I almost don't want to share it in hopes of keeping this gem all to myself, but Allen and Yoki are absolutely fabulous hosts. The sushi is some of the best I have ever had and the ability to learn more and chat with Allen about the different type of fish and sushi types makes the experience all the better. I have done the omokase style, as well as some of more traditional makis as well. The ramen is also a great addition for Wakefield that saves me some trips elsewhere (now I just have to convince my younger kid to give it a try). Allen also makes it more than just food but also an experience and even taught my son how to roll / prepare sushi.

This place had some great sushi and a very gracious host. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and the spicy tuna roll. Both were fantastic. The only notice I would give is that the available dine-in space is quite small (maybe 15 seats in the entire place). Otherwise, I would definitely recommend paying a visit.

Without exaggeration this is the best sushi I have ever tried. The chef, Allen, has 17 years of training and flies in the fish from Japan.
We did the omakase meal for $90 each. Each piece of sushi he prepared was a masterpiece. The flavors were delicious, subtle, complex and built as you ate. Every piece of fish had a buttery texture and was extremely fresh. The meal was supposed to be 14 courses but Allen added a few more and asked us which was our favorite to add one more piece at the end.
On top of being a brilliant chef, he’s a genuinely kind person who is curious about his customers and keeps up a fun conversation throughout the meal. I grew up nearby, but I live in Spain. I’m already planning my next visit when I’m back in a month. I highly recommend you try the omakase experience but I’m confident everything they make will be delicious.

New to Wakefield with the highest quality sushi available in the area. Mojo Sushi is not your run of the mill suburban low quality sushi restaurant which you can find in every town and city across the state. This brand new restaurant focuses on providing the highest quality sushi experience to customers.
The head sushi chef (co-owner) Allen comes most recently from Oishii in Boston and is also interested in any tweaks to make on the menu.
The restaurant is cozy. It has some seating right at the sushi bar and a handful of tables (inside) in a small room next door. Definitely sit at the sushi bar if there is room.
During nice weather, outside tables are also available.
Both omakase style sushi and traditional sushi are available. Don’t miss out on the oshizushi (oshi sushi) pressed sushi, the latest addition to the menu. Available with your choice fish (salmon / hamachi are my recommendation) or vegetarian (vegan friendly).
I have come to eat here many times since they opened not long ago. You will not find a sushi chef around more dedicated to providing excellent food.

We've been to Mojo Sushi twice now and both times we were very impressed! The fish is very high quality and they also have a great variety of fish. Most recently we had the omakase and the sushi chef (who is the owner) prepared us 14 delicious courses with unique combinations and flavors! The restaurant itself is quite small but it's homey and sitting at the bar is a fun experience. The owners are very friendly and generous. We will definitely be back!

This was simply the best sushi experience I’ve had, Allen is an excellent host and cook, and it really felt like you were having sushi with a friend. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough Allen deserves the world.

Tantalizing sushi prepared at the counter. Several unique offerings including some never-before-seen vegetarian options like eggplant and yuba. It may have a view of the lake, but it's really an ocean of flavor.

This is the best sushi I’ve had since visiting Japan. They have the best ingredients I’ve seen in the entire Boston area. This is a must go sushi restaurant.

Best Sushi I've had in a long time. Chef Allen is clearly dedicated to his craft and you can taste his attention to Quality and Consistency in every item on the menu. I've visited 3 or 4 times now and Chef does not miss. Everything is exceptional.

Had lunch there today and the sushi was delightful. We ordered some regular maki; as well as some omakase style sea bream and uni. The rolls and the uni were excellent; but the sea bream was amazing. I'll definitely be back for the omakase tasting menu. Highly recommend this place.

This is the best sushi I have had in my life. A little expensive but worth it

The food was amazing! I have had a lot of sushi and this is some of the best I've had. Real crab meat! Not imitation, need I say more? Well yes I will. Every roll was beautifully presented and every bite had an individual portion of the toppers. Just stunning to see and eat. We were also offered 2 pieces of Spanish sea bass sashimi. Ahhh words don't do it justice, you should go , go now, seriously stop what you're doing and get the best sushi around. Why are you still reading this, go!

Death row last dinner vibes. Hands down the best sushi without an 18 hour plane ride.
The tuna was fresh and fatty. The sushi rice was perfectly fluffy and seasoned. Even the ginger seemed to be slightly marinated. I spoke with the chef himself and hes really passionate about what he's serving you. The fish is flown in twice a week from Japan.
My whole life has been entangled in restaurants -- working them, managing them, enjoying them. This place left me buzzing for more. Can't wait to go back.
The place has a 5 seat bar right when you walk in and only two tables in the other room.

I don’t write reviews, but I feel like I need to for this one. Came in for brunch and it was fantastic. I got ramen and some sushi. The ramen is very light, perfect for something in the morning. The sushi was one of the best I’ve had so far. The owner is very nice and the service was top tier. I felt very welcomed here, I’m extremely introverted but I ended up talking with the owner for about a good hour. He’s been making sushi for nearly two decades and showed me where he sources his ingredients, straight from Japan. Even though the drive is a bit far for me, I will definitely be coming back here to try out more sushi.

Amazing warm and friendly atmosphere, and just to top it off maybe the best nigiri I’ve ever had! Would recommend to anyone wanting delicious sushi!

Had a great time at Mojo Sushi! I think this may have been the best sushi I've ever had! On top of that, the owner was extremely personable and genuine. We ended up taking over the small restaurant with our 20+ person party and received excellent food and service!

This is the real deal. I lived in Asia for 15 years and my wife grew up there. This is easily the best sushi we've had since moving back to the USA in 2016. The place is small, intimate, and inviting. We did "omakase", and the chef blew us away handing us masterpiece after beautiful, little masterpiece. We left full, smiling, and determined to come back. Worth every cent, highly recommended.

This is not the typical sushi restaurant that you usually find in our area. I would argue that this is the best sushi in the entire Boston area. Incredibly fresh and presented beautifully. It is clear from the owners description of the food when he serves you that he cares deeply about the quality of the sushi.
Yes, you will pay more than at some other sushi places, but once you taste it you will understand why. I will have a hard time having sushi from anywhere else now.

It's the best sushi in the area. The fish are very high quality and fresh. They are coming directly from Japan. I love the chef takes on omasake and they are delicious. The chef used to work at big establishments like Oiishi and has 15+ years working as sushi chef. I love this new place and will be coming back very soon. Highly recommend!
