Remodeled Full-Service Bar (Served Chinese & Japanese Cuisine)
Under new management!!! I had heard good things but had to try for myself. You walk in and have a great view of the huge kitchen. They are still training but that didn't change the great service. I ate in the bar area. All of the tables were full, that was a good sign. I had the pleasure of talking to Kevin who now runs it. Great guy, very approachable. They have a fantastic lunch menu that you for the most part get to pick the items. Endless combinations. Their Hot and Sour Soup was absolutely delicious! They use an old school recipe that is full of flavor and finished with sesame oil. I wanted to lick the bowl. My combo was Lobster Sauce with Pork Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. First let me preface this by saying I've reviewed around 100 Chinese food restaurants on here. Their Egg Roll is most likely the best I have ever had. I dreamed about that Egg Roll all night. Probably will tonight too. Lobster Sauce and Pork Fried Rice were delicious! I also really liked the flavors in the very tender Orange Beef. Starts with that tangy flavor and leaves with just a little kick. Hot mustard is 🔥! Great duck sauce too!
Really excited to see their comeback. More excited that my experience exceeded expectations! Go check them out!
Edit: Went back to have the Spareribs on the Bone! These are some of the best of the best! 6 very meaty, flavorful, perfect char, juicy bites of heaven are absolutely delicious and worthy of a cross state drive! Picture of them added!
I also added another Egg Roll pic that looks like a dragon!

Tonight was the first time in about five years I ordered from Chinatown and was happy. The original owners are running the restaurant again and it shows. The meal in the black container was what was being served before and the white container is what the owners are serving now. The food is excellent they are using the old recipes again and they are great. The wonton soup is so flavorful and has pea shoots added in again also with plenty meat and veggies. The steamed chicken is served with a great tasting dipping sauce just like the old days. The boneless ribs were cooked perfectly and tasty also. I am so happy the owners stepped back in and are saving the restaurant. I will recommend to anyone to give Chinatown in stoughton another try trust me you will be happy.

I called around 5, on New Year’s Eve to see what time they close and the woman on the phone said 9pm. I called back at 7:30pm to place an order and the phone rang and rang and rang and rang again and again and again but no one picked up. I waited a few minutes before calling again and still no answer.
My family and I have been ordering from ChinaTown for a long time and never had an experience like we had tonight. It’s unfortunate because the old owners would always pick up and now with new owners, they don’t pick up.
Anyway, happy almost New Year’s Day!

Chinatown ... is back! I really enjoyed going to Chinatown several years ago, but then everything went downhill with service and quality / portion sizes. This went on for several years. I took a chance a couple of weeks ago and placed a to-go order. Food was great, and portion sizes have returned to normal. Chinatown is definitely my go-to place again for Chinese food. Not sure what happened, but glad it did!

I don't know if my ordering food close to closing was the reason or not but SERIOUSLY disappointed. I ordered shrimp mei fan or rice noodles. They just put the vegs & shrimp on top of the dry noodles with no kind of sauce. I will give one more visit much prior to closing. Otherwise, I will have to find another local Chinese food restaurant.

Henry took care of us in the bar. We had flappers (wings), ravs, scallion pancakes, Hot and Sour wontons which is Hot and Sour wonton soup without the soup, General Gau's Chicken, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Fried Rice. All good. We could barely finish what we got. I see some negative reviews but we were fine. It was a Thursday night. I also saw the restaurant staff help a visually impaired customer navigate through the restaurant.
We've been back a couple of times since and Henry is no longer present. We wish him well. The food is still great. Chow Foon is available but not yet on the menu. It was a nice gesture for Henry's mother, Lisa, to come over and check in on us.

The food is much better with the new management. Only thing is when ordering take out for a large group, the size of the lomein, chicken wings (5 wings) and egg foo young (3 small pcs) is way too small. There's only 1 size. Not good for ordering for a group. The boneless ribs and shrimp spring rolls are delicious.

2024 update- the old owner got the Restaurant back. The food is great again. Peace and order has been restored to the Chinatown universe.
2020 Update- NEVER GOING BACK. This place has fallen far in a short period of time. This used to be my favorite and I have heard so many horror stories (many listed here in the Google reviews) of the way the management treats customers. I couldn’t believe the stories until I was treated this way today. I ordered a pupu platter for 2 and the 2 egg rolls that are supposed to come with it were missing. I returned to the restaurant the next day to ask for the egg rolls and was told by someone identifying themself as “the owner” they have staff double checking the orders and there is no way they could have been missing and would not give me the egg rolls. I showed the manager the receipt and pointed out that I had given them a $15 tip for an order I picked up myself, and asked if they were willing to lose a customer of more than 20 years over 2 egg rolls and he said “yes” and scoffed at me for leaving them a generous tip saying “thats on you”.

Not sure what's going on with the restaurant but when we arrived on a weeknight they only had the bar area open and not the main dining room. Food was up to previous visits but service although efficient wasn't friendly. We asked for tea or coffee which we were told neither were available.

Came up from Florida to meet friends for lunch at Chinatown in Stoughton. One of my friends arrived early to get a table ready as we were a good size party. The waitress got upset with my friend, who is one of the nicest, polite people you'll ever meet. The waitress went and said something in Chinese to the owner, who came over and told her to leave. My friend was confused, and asked why. He said you made my waitress mad. She again ask politely, "please what did I do, I apologize" he insisted she leave and said he wouldn't serve her. She has been going there for years, and other restaurants and has never been treated so bad. Of course we left and went somewhere else. So they lost her business as well as all the rest of us. I would not recommend them if they treat customers like that. It's unacceptable.
Update to owners response:
He needs to look at the other reviews. I'm not the only one that thinks he and his staff are rude. He wouldn't even give my friend who IS one of the most polite people I know, and is a very good friend for 40 years, a reason why he was kicking her out. Obviously the waitress doesn't understand English and misunderstood what she said, which was i need a table for 7. This place probably won't be in business long because some of the reviews say the food is not good and prices are high also.

If you can get past the smell of the food...
Best onion‐rangoons ever?
Too bad I ordered crab-rangoons. No crab flavor whatsoever. Maybe they think by loading it with onions, customers won't notice that there is no crab. Onions are cheaper than crabmeat.
The chicken teriaki was blackened and taste awful.
The beef teriaki was raw in the middle. How can you not fully cook that thin strip of beef?
The old reviews were pretty good, because Chinatown once was pretty good--I never really liked their food, but my friends did, until I introduced them to much better Chinese food restaurants.
Update:
I've recently discovered AWESOME Chinese food, RIGHT BEHIND Chinatown, next to Shaws!!!
You want amazing Chinese food?
Visit Gourmet Garden in Canton.
All of the food was hot and delicious, cooked perfectly, even their soda was perfect (not watered down or flat, like many places serve).
If you want great Chinese, and your near Chinatown, do your taste-buds a favor:
Go to Gourmet Garden.
You can easily walk there from Chinatown!

Portions keep going down and the prices keep going up! Come on, choose one - do you want higher prices with the same portions or smaller portions for the same price?! But that's the least of their problems. The quality of the food has gone down. They load the dishes up with the cheap stuff so the protein is nominal. The order accuracy was also off the last time with fatty dark meet chicken instead of crispy white chicken.

Practically grew up on this food and it hasn’t changed a bit. Best brown gravy of all time. Phenomenal beef and chicken teriyaki, yummy spare ribs and delicious lo mein. My only complaint is I get charged extra $2 to substitute a topping on fried rice, but I like mine plain so I ask for it without egg and onion and that costs an extra $4 to to use less ingredients! Besides that the food is great it’s always quick and the only places that cost less than taste like Ewok Grub

Chinatown hits all the high marks. Their sushi and sashimi are fresh and cut well. Their orange chicken is savory, crispy, and tangy. I highly recommend the kamikaze and the vegetarian roll- absolute epicurean delight!! A few hours later, my family always wants to go right back! The best part is - Henry is warm, generous, and makes you feel right at home!

This is very unusual for me. These people appear to be very nice. Per my observations, the owner/manager is well respected and very much liked.
However the food is not at very good or a good value. And with the only one size pricing system in use it doesn't make you want to return. If portion size is not important to you if you don't really care how good your food is...then this is your place. (I have eaten here only 4 times)
With China Gourmet in the background it seems very important to offer food as good if not better at reasonable prices

Sorry to say, this once excellent restaurant continues on its slide down. They don’t have Chinese tea any longer, even for purchase. The food was just ok. The waiter was excellent , but the man & women at front desk were very inattentive & rude to this customer who requested a glass of water while waiting for his order.. if you want waiter/ waitress service you must eat in the bar. The large other room is closed. That says something about their business. I think there is a new owner.

Asked if I could get a glass of water while I waited . It was extremely hot . ( waiting on bench) Water pitcher next to girl. She looks at me and says no! Didn’t want to have to wash a glass cup?
This was my favorite restaurant growing up. The new owner ( lady at register) was clearly more interested in her phone / computer.
Bar attendant was eating at counter .

Food was dry . Not same :(

I have been going there for years mostly for takeout, which I believe is all they're open for now. I've gotten the usuals over the years wings, barbeque spareribs always great. I’ve been to this restaurant many times, and it seems to worsen every time I visit or pick it up. When I called in my order, the man on the phone was rude and did not disclose they only had one size for many of their dishes. Ordered from China town for over 20 plus years. There was a time, they had the best Chinese food, by far. Last few years its declined average -to-below average. so my family ordered from there recently to get our Chinese food fix. I was surprised the food was subpar and the counter service has MEASURABLY gone down hill. VERY RUDE SERVICE EXPERIENCED MORE THAN ONCE. To share one of many rude stories/experiences! My father is 93 years old with dementia, we went inside to pick up the food and my father forgot his mask. The counter lady person immediately told him to get a mask or get out now. My father (93 years old) when he didn’t immediately answer, she rudely reached over the counter and shoved him back, in the stomach, then repeated …get a mask. I explained his Dementia condition and that he will comply, but no need to be so rude. It didn’t matter to the counter persons. One lady in particular was even more rude, aggressively and arrogant. I was boiling at that point and if she was a male, I would have jumped over the counter……
I can put up with OVERPRICED average to sub-par food, but not the demeaning counter service. Not the first time we experience or seen rude service towards others. i’m done with them.

ENOUGH! It is time to say "No" to bad and expensive food. This restaurant used to be a great and reliable family restaurants with good food. Now it is pretty dilapidated and youbcan tell they are struggling by horrible food they are serving. Some of us know how Chinese food is cooked and taste and this ain't it. Shrimp in lobster sauce is a simple dish to screw up. The shrimps were buried under a thick dark sauce it didn't taste like oyster sauce or anything good. The sauce was indiscript and we threw $100 worth terrible and overpriced food. Everyone hated their dish.

This is THE BEST Chinese food resteraunt I have found. I have been going here for over 15 years and their food is always high quality and the service is excellent. Ignore the random string of negative reviews lately. The people who work here are never rude and are always very polite. Some people go to Chinese resteraunts and treat the people who work their like they are scum, so if you do of course they will not go out of their way to be extra polite to you. Treat them as you would treat yourself and you will not be disappointed!
People are complaining that the prices have gone up and the serving size has gone down. This is not true! Their menu prices went up about $1 per item since Covid, and they have removed the "large" menu size from their items. They now only have the small sizes, but the charge the small size price with it. Some people are saying that they are charging the large price for the smaller size, but again this is not true. They are not ripping anyone off, people just don't pay attention to what they are buying.
It makes me feel so bad that they have been getting all of these negative reviews lately for no reason. I have been here about 6 times over the past year, last time was just a few weeks ago. Nothing about their excellent service has changed. Ignore the negative reviews and try this place!

Quality of the food dropped dramatically and to make things worst they have a horrible customer service.

We used to love this place ,we got general gau chicken ,brought it home it was terrible they used to use white meat chicken now they use thigh meat and its dry and over cooked not going there anymore .

Horrible and extremely rude behavior, was treated like hell .I got chicken in my food though I ordered only vegetarian food as I’m a pure vegetarian person. And when I called and was talking very politely and kindly and he was becoming so rude and shouting like hell and cut the call on my face for 5 times in between a talk .so I suggest never ever go to that restaurant or even never order the food .

Since our local go to Chinese Restaurant closed during the pandemic. Chinatown is our go to for what we have come to expect.

DISGUSTING PLACE !!!!
FOOD IS VERY DRY AND SOME WAS BURNT. EXTREMELY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON GARBAGE FOOD. IF I COULD GIVE THEM 0 STARS I WOULD.
THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS! !!!!! THEY ARE THE WORST.

Chinatown prepares amazing Oriental dishes that I literally order food from there every weekend 😀.

Horrible. The son is ruining what was a great restaurant. This idiot has no customer service skills nor does he care about the business his mother built over the years. Rude, uncaring and completely void of any semblance of how to care for and maintain customers. The food may be good but prices have exploded while the restaurant remains closed to all but takeout orders. Too many others who really try to please the paying customer. After years of patronizing this place, I’m done.

Not dine in
Just to go
But the food is so good. I bought 3 different plates and all were delicious
I recommend this restaurant.

Terrible attitude, terrible service, terrible food quality,
Terribly high prices for significantly reduced portions. What a shame…after our extended families have been faithful patrons for 30+ years. I will NEVER walk into their “Hell-Hole” again.

Used to be my favorite place to come and eat one of the best Chinese food places around but I have to say in the last three years they have went downhill the food is not as good add all the customer service is definitely not to par anymore and I am so sorry but a Chinese food restaurant that doesn’t take orders at 6 o’clock at night on New Year’s Eve that’s incredible to me because for the last 15 years I ordered at this restaurant on New Year’s Eve very sad but now I would take my money and my business to the New golden pacific Chinese restaurant in Holbrook on N. Franklin St. best thing about it too is the prices are so good the food is delicious and they’re open till 1 AM every day seven days a week give him a try but this is very sad because Chinatown was my favorite but now we must part ways goodbye Chinatown

Wanted to go and go get some food and a drink... Place is closed and does takeout only now due to staffing. Boo, be better

The prices are outrageous. Shrimp & Broccoli order cost over $22 but there was no rice included. I have never heard of such a thing. With an order of fried chicken the complete order came out to over $35 and a spoon was not included. They had a very unwelcoming demeanor when I went in to order.

food is good but they are extremely rude. my family and i have had multiple negative experiences with different employees there and tonight will be our last time ever ordering from them. they messed up our order on two separate occasions and refuse to make up for it, instead saying it is our fault. one time a waitress grabbed money out of my hand because she demanded a larger tip - i had already given her 20%.

My family grew up traveling 30 minutes to Chinatown, Stoughton once a month to be seated at a table for ten for a magnificent meal. We did this for 18 years before the pandemic. Since then, we transitioned to ‘to go’ meals. What used to be a wonderful experience and some of my fondest childhood memories has transitioned into poor service, lackluster food quality, and sky rocketed prices. Now they don’t even give you soy sauce, it’s truthfully insane. Entrées used to be shareable and now are barely sufficient for one, but the prices have nearly doubled. If something was prepared incorrectly, you used to be greeted with an apology from a manager and a correct dish, now you’re called a liar. Not sure if the place is under new ownership, but it’s not going to be around much longer at this rate.

My family has been coming here for like 30 years, WAS always a pleasure seeing the owner, Lisa, and enjoying a nice meal. As of the past couple of months, including tonight, I was treated rudely over the phone, when I got there the customer next to me was also treated rudely. Not to mention their prices have skyrocketed, they only give small portions and charge their old large prices, when you ask for an item as listed on their menu they tell you they charge extra now
pric
I was ordering a combo plate that included fried shrimp and was told no more shrimp in combo orders...I could go on, but I hope Lisa sees this because I will be going to another place now in Stoughton that caters to me and the prices are better!!!

This restaurant has always been the best, going back some 50+ years. Having grown up in Canton, it was always the place to go, and it's nice to see that it still is. The freshest vegetables and dinners. The whole menu is great. The Best Chinese Food in America 👍

Not open for dine in. Prices are to high and they ask for a tip when they hand you your PKG.

Horrible since changed ownership. Food was terrible, wouldn’t refund money. Customer for 25 years never again. When asked lady for money back she said “YOU PEOPLE” always try to pull that. What did she mean “YOU PEOPLE”? Prejudice against white people maybe? Last time my Family eats from there again. Disrespectful owners/mngmnt. Eating out for 50 years, worst experience ever. Gonna try to take all “MY PEOPLE” somewhere else. Am setting up to picket one day outside restaurant soon, probably September. I will let “YOU PEOPLE” know soon. Thanks for staying out of there.

If I could give a negative star it would be in this review
Chinatown cobbs corner has been used by us for years
We got an order of California roll with a staple in it and my son spit it out- this is not the first tome this happened - just never complained to them hair- was another item we have found in our food
Upon calling the owner mr wong, he said I am lying and that it is impossible?
I can not believe the belligerence of a business owner not taking the facts and acting on them to improve this mistake that clearly happened on his end
I will never frequent Chinatown again and highly disapprove of the owners attitude

Several dishes were maybe worth 3 stars, but basically it's the Chinese food you might have gotten in the 80's. But they forgot to add noodles into our noodle dish (it was literally all celery and sprouts). Dunno why my wife ordered sushi from a Chinese place, but it was like the stuff you get at the supermarket.

The wife brought me here for Father's Day..was looking forward to a good time seeing as though from what I heard the food is really good...
Guess I should've inquired about thier dining in.
As I totally get the whole "its a holiday" thing but to be treated the way we were (especially seeing as though there were plenty of other tables available) is....well....very reminiscent of how you can be treated in Cobbs Corner sometimes. ..the wife kept her composure but she was definitely dissapointed as she was the one that suggested we try it.
It was to the point where our waitress already rushing us (she tossed our dinnerware on the table and barely spoke)
The two stars were for the food...good but pricey...
Its pretty obvious that I wouldn't advise my people to come to this establishment. There are plenty other spots to go to to get better treatment..and better food for the right price..

The manager yelled at my grandma when she was trying to pay for the food we ordered. The place has gone down hill since the previous owners passed the restaurant down to their son. Guy has some serious mental issues. We cancelled the order, and will never come back.

This used to be one of my favorite stops when I came back home -- I still love the egg rolls -- but we ordered 130 dollars worth of food -- tipped 15 bucks -- and the people behind the counter looked like they hated everyone. They used to have that same look, but the food was delicious and the restaurant was buzzing. Something changed as it's been getting worse and worse the last few trips home... and this was before the pandemic.
The food was overall very bad. Even the egg rolls where cooked badly. Used to have amazing Beef Teriyaki and it was for the first time bad. My kids love scallion pancakes and they even messed those up.
No one loves Chinese food from Stoughton more than I do -- I grew up eating at South China -- and this place used to be amazing. And times change.
I can take bad service and great food. But I can't take BOTH.
If I go again for the egg rolls, I'm surely going to ask why they hate their customers.
