I thought it was great especially for the price, we did have to wait for a little bit for our second round of sushi(which is understandable it was Saturday night at 630 the restaurant was packed), but the hot pot meats and veggies came out extremely fast, I wish there was a better selection for sauces but I also did not ask, I will come again!

One of the few remaining all you can eat sushi and hotpot restaurants. The hotpot is kind of subpar, I think the soup is good but the meats are frozen and sometimes rock hard when they come out. The vegetables are good and the variety of seafood is good, but the sauce needs some work as it wasn't that good.

The sushi is excellent for the price. The sashimi looks fresh, and the rolls don't have the texture of cheap sushi. It feels good here and I really enjoyed it.

The service is quite fast and accommodating, and the sushi comes out at a reasonable pace.

This would've been a 4 star review but I knocked it down one star because multiple times when I came here, I've seen mice running around. This doesn't bother me too much as I know how it is, but it may bother some people who don't like the idea.

I recommend this place if you can't decide what to eat for the night between sushi and hotpot. The hotpot soup is very tasty, but the sauce needs improvement. The meat, particularly the sirloin beef, is excellent. We did order the clams for hotpot. It has a very strong smell. The sushi is outstanding considering the price, and the salmon is fresh. Overall, it's a great place for a hotpot and sushi buffet.

This place filled the spot like no other.. Fantastic service, generous amount of food for short money. Everything from the sushi to hot pot was perfect. Go when you are really hungry and do the buffet. I thought I lost my skills then my stomach did something to complete redeem itself. Wow a powerhouse in the food game. 😍

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant. The server's demeanor was extremely unpleasant, and they seemed less than welcoming toward children. While the food was passable, the service was truly disappointing. Despite multiple requests for additional water, it was never brought to our table. To make matters worse, the server followed us to our car and displayed a machine suggesting a minimum tip of 15%. This felt coercive, especially since I had already rounded up my bill to include a generous tip(11%).

The atmosphere brings a feeling of comfort at home. The food is great but the service is okay not the best I have experienced. In addition, I don't like how they stop us and demand a higher tip. When we tip 15%. Also, ask us “Was your service great? because the tip is low and we split it with each other” that blow me & my husband mind. We did end up tipping them more because we felt bad that they split tips. However, it's rude to stop the customer from leaving or chasing out the door asking for more money because of how the management runs the company.

Went here and enjoyed the hotpot it’s self but our server was over the top rude. I mean short of just cussing us out, she was as rude as can be for absolutely no reason. There was clearly some issue in the kitchen but we did nothing to offend her or insult her. Her behavior was simply disgusting. I’m glad I was only here with one other person and didn’t take a large group or family with me.

Taiyou Shabu & Sushi is a great find in the local Quincy area. It has fresh and delicious sushi, they have a great deal on their all you can eat hot pot, varieties of proteins and options. The staff is very attentive, very nice place. Love to visit again soon

Order to go all the time and it is great (probably 20+ orders, never an issue with anything, always consistent, always good).

Have dined in twice- AYCA, and unfortunately not even closed. Their model is clearly go very slow for AYCA. I am there because your sushi is good- either don't offer AYCA or charge enough that you can actually serve properly. Just very weird dine in experience both times.

The food was decent, but the servers were 1 issue of this experience: they were slow to deliver the food and were extremely moody. That male server was especially rude after giving us the cold shoulder after trying to get assistance numerous times. Another issue is the TIPS: they will force their own tips on you without letting you to decide. We tried to argue this but they shut us off telling us to “never come here again then.” I was already thinking of never coming again anyway

I came here for a dinner with 8 people, the food was okay, the waiters had an attitude when bring out our food. when i asked a question she yelled at me . all of the waiter and staff had an attitude. Later on when the bill had came, they had charged us 18% tip, wish was 60$ in tip making our total 350$ accounting for two more people. When we had brought this to their attention of whom i assume is the manger had a very disgusting attitude. she so claimed that it was not her fault and she was trying to do her job but it’s her policy. mind you , we called to reserve a table and they gave away our table . then we had to sit at two separate tables. which we were ok with but it was an inconvenience for us because this was a birthday dinner. i am very upset and disappointed with the behavior of the staff and waiter i won’t be coming back.

First time here and I’m from Quincy myself. I would definitely come back here again. I’ve got the All you can Eat dinner hotpot and sushi. I have to say I was so impressed with the portions and the service. Food was excellent and tasty. The waiter was welcoming and he was great, he served us with grace and fast. I give them 10/10.

Service was rude, and down-right considered unlawful retainment. The waitress boxed me and my group in demanding we leave a larger tip and WOULD NOT let us leave until we changed it. We all had individual checks and tipped appropriately despite the sub-par service we received, yet she continuously yelled in our faces until we changed our tips by 3 or 4-ish dollars each.
The building was dirty. The food was alright. The service was incredibly rude, unhelpful, and required each of us to service ourselves with what we needed despite the lack of business inside.

The owner of this place is very rude and doesn’t know how to treat customers. We found a hair in the sushi and they still charge us for the food. Our bill came out 181.69 we don’t care paying for the food and tip the waiter at all. However the owner is not a pleasant person and don’t care about customer. It was our first time and last time here. Also the place is not clean. If you don’t believe me, come to this disgusting place and see what I am talking about.

They are my go to delivery place in the area since they are on Grubhub. Really good sushi for really reasonable prices, which is hard to find to find these days! Solid lunch specials and dinner specials. I have only experienced good service over the phone. They will call to double check change requests which is really nice.

On our first visit my wife had the lunch special bento box, which included miso soup, some tempura veggies and steamed dumplings. I tried the shabu beef and pork combo with kimchi flavored broth. Both were outstanding: fresh, flavorful and plentiful portion size. The service was friendly and attentive, including some hints on how to approach the shabu properly. The bill came to just over $30, which we considered a real bargain. Highly recommended.

The sushi was ok for an all you can eat sushi but the service was terrible from the moment that you walk in. They only give you one sheet to fill, when you ask for more you can clearly hear the angry sushi chef complaining and each time you order more the pieces get much smaller. If you are a true sushi lover and enjoy a pleasant meal do not go there. Ichiban is just a few blocks away and it's a lot better.

Overall excellence experience. All of the sushi we ordered was fresh and delicious. Hot pot was so good. The meat was fresh and sliced perfectly. All of the vegetables were fresh as well. Best spring rolls that I’ve had in a long time. Servers were very nice and fun to interact with. I will most definitely visit this gem next time I’m in the area.

I see a lot of 1-star reviews for this place, but I've always thought this place is absolutely incredible for what it is. You pay one price for all you can EAT, not for all you can ORDER. If you look at it from the perspective of a restaurant trying to minimize food waste, you will understand why they do what they do. Lots and lots of food waste usually goes on in AYCE places, so this place is just doing everything they can to make sure nothing is wasted. If you are modest with the quantity you order and actually finish what you order, this place 100% won't give you any troubles.

They refused to serve us the food we requested despite us paying and ordering the unlimited food option. They made up some lame excuse for why they don’t want to give a second round of food for the table (even though it’s supposed to be unlimited!). I’ve seen them harass several customers about tips. They’ve even followed customers to the door if they believe the customer has given subpar tip after giving inferior service. The sushi has basically no fish in it. It’s loaded with the crunchy stuff. The hot pot broth is a 3 out of 5. Overall, there’s several places in the area that provide both much better service and more delicious food (and actually unlimited) for the same or even lower price.

This restaurant has all you can eat sushi or hot pot. We tried the AYCE sushi. It’s really really good! And the service from everyone was really great as well. However I’m giving just three stars because as soon as we paid, they literally ran and counted the money so fast. And rushed and asked “was the service not good?” And demanded that we pay more for tip. That is very unprofessional. It’s not like we broke the law or something. Demand the employer to give the waiters a better pay.

I was in my car meeting up with friends who just left this establishment. A waitress came out and flagged them down for leaving a 13% tip and started harassing them until they gave more money. I called requesting why they do that and I was told “leave this between our customers and staff, you don’t know” “we we’re looking for a signature if they didn’t sign” “if they leave no tip we go out to check on how they liked the service” and “they didn’t leave a tip”. The manager was combative the entire conversation when I was trying to be nice about the incident.

I’ve never dined here so I don’t know what the service is like nor the food, but based off what I heard and witnessed I would run and never go in.

web sight says all you can eat buffet, yet I can't choose more than 8 things at once. oh and get this, you can't order anymore after the first slip. they told me no lol. figured bc of this I left a 10% tip on a $200 check. we got outside and as we are getting into our car the waitress chased us out demanding for more than an 18% tip. Now they have three waitresses, but the service went down compared to before, I mean a few months ago. The lady asked us for not paying the 15% tips. We paid around 13-14% for not having enough cash. Yup, I still have eye contact with her when I left. She was telling her coworkers that we didn't pay the minimum tips? OK. Bring the serive that deserves the minimal tips for all you can eat. Thank you!

I supposed to tip nothing for such horrible services. We had “all u can eat” and the waitress never came back to check in if we need anything else after we’d placed our first order. You should at least refill some water for us ok? My gf was holding the menu for extra dishes the entire time but she was just passing through and ignored her. Didn’t serve us the sashimi until we were ready for the check. Every time when we asked about sashimi, she responded with “we need to finish the online order first you guys got to wait.” Alright, this restaurant should make an announcement like this “ Online order only, don’t dine in”

We went for the AYCE lunch at 2:40. Ordered sushi and hotpot but they would only serve us the sushi since we ordered a decent amount. They then would not bring out the hotpot until after 3:30 at which point wouldn't let us order more unless we payed dinner price. All around bad service, sushi was all rice and a thin piece of fish. Hotpot did not come for 50 minutes by which point they wanted to charge us dinner price. Would recommend not going, if your looking for a good AYCE hotpot place I would recommend Ibisaw in Malden.

An extensive menu, well executed, means lots of options for good meals. The choice of cuisine makes it fun to explore the menu and come back. Our service was friendly, somewhat attentive and also inexperienced. Our table was sticky. Which, unfortunately, is a common occurrence at restaurants. Since wiping a table clean is so easy, I always wonder why that happens. Someone isn't paying attention to the details.

This review is for customer service only and not about food.
As I walked in about 5 minutes after they opened to ask for a menu and about to ask if they were opened on the Christmas day or not. The lady with short hair gave me the menu and just turned around and walked away while i was asking her. I was the only customer in the restaurant.
Very unprofessional and she made me feel like she doesn't want my business. I will order food elsewhere for the Christmas party and don't think that i will come back.

The food for sushi and hotpot is really good. The quality is fresh and the options are diverse enough to not feel like you’re eating the same thing! My husband and I come here when we want the best of both worlds for soup and sushi.

There are a couple of negative aspects about the restaurant: service from staff and food. It is truly difficult at times to get the server’s attention when my husband and I want a refill on our drinks or request another menu. Additionally, food can take a long time for it to come out. It would be better for them to bring out everything, rather one by one.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Horrible. Terrible. Went out with family of 5, waited 1 hour for a plate of sushi and waiter threatened to cancel our order because we asked how much longer after 45 minutes. Me and my sister went there for lunch food was 7-10 but the waitress was not great and after we gave her a $5 in tip came back and said we needed to give her at least 10% of the bill and that is ridiculous a tip is gratitude for your service not obligation

Now I usually don’t write bad reviews but this place needs a 0 in customer service experience. Don’t get me wrong the food was great but the customer service sucked waitress are very rude don’t have enough patients quick to tell you no you can’t do that snatch the menu out of your hand while you’re legit looking at it. Owner/manager whoever this lady was last night was very unprofessional arguing and talking about customers in front of her employees and having her employee stare at us and made us feel very uncomfortable. People spend their hard earned working money not for them to treat us this way we are supporting your business at the end of the day I will not be eating from this establishment anymore.

If I could give a negative star, I would. Never will I ever step foot into this establishment. I’ve never felt so discriminated against going into a shabu establishment. From the very jump they were quick to say “we can’t do this” “we can’t do that”. She wouldn’t even let me try a broth. I asked if She could charge me for a miso soup but, only bring out a little sample. Money is never an issue for me. The “owner” was very rude & it was very embarrassing in front of my 5 year old niece. I never not once heard a restaurant say you can’t take your vegan hot pot home. I only ate 1/4 of my meal. I didn’t really have an appetite after the waiter with the glasses snatched the menu out of my sisters hand. I will never be returning to this restaurant

The food was okay but the staff was not nice and unpleasant. They have a child and adult price. They charged us all adult prices, even after I told
Them my daughter is only 11. She said no adult! I am never coming here again. Customer service is horrible.

Favorite spot in Quincy. Love the lunch specials and the value for all you can eat hot pot and sushi can’t be beat. Plenty of other places in Quincy but this is my go to.

loved the sashimi but the vegetable tempura was a little disappointing as well as the tempura sauce. they did have good rice. the raw squid with the roe and quail yolk was great, also had uni. staff was nice

Hotpot meat is good, and sushi is decently fresh - but service is slow, especially on the sushi side. It's also sometimes possible to find yourself getting smaller and smaller servings of sushi as you go for the AYCE experience. But it's nice that the hotpot is AYCE - even for the meat!

The service was terrible. We’ve gone three times and we’re basically ignored. On our final visit, we did not receive water the whole time we were there. When I ordered a large order of soup for two, waiter called me dumb. We couldn’t order seconds for a buffet. When we wrote the check, the waiter did not earn a tip so we left. The waiter proceeds to CHASE us to our car demanding a tip and criticized us for something she did not earn. Food is great, but service is awful.

I have celiac disease and wrote multiple times in my order that I had a gluten allergy. I asked to call if any items I ordered had gluten in them, received my order to find something had tempura in it. Just disappointed they don’t seem to pay attention to allergy notes in the orders.

第一次来，以后不会再来了。好好的心情被短发女服务员极差的服务态度破坏。我们不知道是要吃完sushi才给上火锅，只是把吃完的一盘放到桌子边，方便服务员收盘子，另一盘移到里面方便服务员接下来上火锅。这时候 这名短发服务员上前说“我不会给你们上火锅的，你要把那盘sushi吃完！全部吃完！” 问题是我们并没有问她关于火锅的事情，也没说我们不吃了。在没有询问我们吃不吃的情况下就冲过来说不会给我们上火锅了，员工的专业程度和服务素质都令人窒息且作呕。我不认为我们有错，我们点餐的时候你们没提醒说要把sushi一片不剩吃完才可以上火锅，你们有什么霸王条款就在点餐时跟客人明说。做服务行业的你们连基本的服务都没做到位就会为自己的员工找借口，发生这件事情的时候你老板没有在现场，事后这个服务员想怎么说怎么说，反正我们是没有听到她对您所说的这些“原话”。这么差的态度我想你们也只会对待中国人，你叫她跟老外试试。48片？你们一条卷就有6片了，两个人点六七条卷过分吗？头抬也没给我上，第一个round 就不让别人吃完了？您怕别人浪费最好改成堂吃店不要开all you can eat的店了，再好吃的东西遇到你们家的服务态度都吃不下了，最大的错误就是你们没有提醒我们点餐时要先吃完sushi才能上火锅，麻烦你们为自己的服务态度要先检讨一下。两个人吃了50➕块，我们出去吃饭不是为了受气的！顺便看了一下你们的其它评价，呵呵不是只有我一个人这么说。

I used to come often but after last time, never again. Officially scarred from them. Came in, barely busy (literally only two other tables). Waited a whole hour for sashimi and avocado/seafood salad which was disgusting and not fresh. When we asked about if our food was still coming out the waitress with the short black hair gave us attitude saying its on the chefs and not her but she could've at least offered to check with him.
If you only see the younger Asian sushi chef, do not eat there for that day unless you see the older guy. Reasons: food took an hour, the salads were literally just cut up cucumber skins with none of the inside cucumber fillings, I took 2 bites and I started getting dizzy and nauseous, had to throw up to feel better right after I ingested it. I was able to avoid food poisoning if I hadn't done that and I almost fainted on the way trying to get to the bathroom. The reason I knew its from the salad is because that was the only thing that came up (and I ate hot pot before the sashimi/sushi food came out). Then the sashimi wasn't fresh or looked any good. It was disgusting.

If you do go there, only for the hot pot. But my family and I are never going again after that last time.

This is still one of the best all you can eat combo sushi, sashimi (dinner only) and hot pot buffet. Lunch $19.95, and dinner $26.95. The sashimi, sushi and it's rolls are fresh, tasty and it's not over filled with rice. The photos speak for itself and this is just round one. The food comes out a little slow due to a few reasons: at times short staff with 1 sushi chef or busy dinner crowd where everyone comes all at once as the place is a mid size restaurant. To avoid the problem, come early and make reservations.

The hot pot is fine, but sushi not. it took one hour for them to prepare my first order, amd I had to cancelled my second round order because it took the other 1 hour and not be served yet. This is ridiculous.

Extremely delicious. I absolutely love this place—an absolute GEM of an AYCE hotpot +sushi spot in Quincy. I get the spicy Szechuan broth every time and the flavoring is to die for. The food tastes very fresh, and the sushi seems to be good quality also from what I’ve tried. I love this place; it’s super affordable for what it is!

Good AYCE option in South Shore. Service is decent. They seem to get my order wrong often but they will fix it. The restaurant is bright and inviting. Easy parking in the strip mall. Prices are fair.

Massive, good quality lunch specials, especially the bento boxes. Unbeatable sushi for the price. The maki lunch combo will fill you up on sushi alone, and the pork katsu bento comes with the biggest slabs I've ever seen.

Pretty much a regular. Food is always good. Meats and veggies are always quick and fresh. Sushi and sashimi are fresh and hotpot broth has improved. Best price for AYCE. Never had a bad experience.

If I could leave no stars I would. Horrible customer service. The server's attitude was not what you would expect. This is by far the worst customer service experience I have ever witnessed. Went with a group and one of us didn't want to accommodate him due to him not wanting to eat sushi. They offer hot pot but wouldn't let him order that.

I really like this place especially for an all you can eat place. Bottomless sushi and hot pot is only about 30 dollars. What more could you want. Definitely worth every penny. They seat according to covid restrictions so don't be scared to go here.

I love the house broth I could just drink that and be happy? The options are basically endless and I always get my money’s worth. I do have to say they do forget to either put in stuff we ordered from the buffet or don’t bring it out. I have to order it again to get it but that’s honestly no big deal. The waiting system could use some work, I was waiting “10” minutes and 2 parties that came in after me got seated before us after I checked back in and got ignored. I had to send my boyfriend in to see if they will speak to him and that’s when they finally asked us for a name and number. Total wait was closer to an hour. I’m a hostess and a server too so I get it but I’m more upset 2 parties after us got sat before us.

I had a great experience at that location. I’ve been there twice and on my second visit the waitress remembered me and my party. The customer service is on point!!! She remembered the utensils we asked for last time and brought it to us without us having to ask. I think her name is Jean (she had short black hair). She was very nice and attentive and I will definitely be coming back for more hotpot!!!

The service here is not the greatest. It is not the worst, but it definitely not satisfactory. I had dinner here with two friends and they ordered the "all you can eat" and I only ordered one order of sushi. The first problem is that I wasn't able to split my bill to only have what I ordered. I was forced to order all you can eat despite only eating the food that I ordered. The bill came and I asked to just charge my card $20 and my friends had paid the rest of the bill in cash and tipped her with cash. I signed my receipt and added my tip to my $20 card. The server came back to collect her tip and she counted the tip right in front of us. It was distracting as we were still chatting. The server interrupted us talking and made a huge deal that I only made a tip on the $20 and not the $100. I tried explaining that I was only tipping on my part of the bill and not the whole bill and that the cash that was left over was her tip on my friends' portion. After going back and forth we finally gave her another $10. I always tip well because I have served before, but I also believe that tipping is optional. To be forced to give a larger tip is bad business practice. I will never come back to patron this place again

In this photo I got the all you can eat option. I feel like there needs to be a little more work on the quality of the fish and especially the rice. I would like to see a lot more flavor out of my sushi rice. I can make it better

In my opinion this place has been under reviewed. Perhaps it does not show up if you search “hot pot” in Quincy since the restaurant name does not reflect it. “Shabu” is familiar but not to many others. Anyhow, we discovered this place about two months ago. Our regular spot has been in renovation. This place is small, cozy. Clean, already have the utensils I need to dig in. We visited twice already and the service is as good as the first one. They do follow safety precautions like putting a used pen to a dirty bin. The folder for checks are also being sprayed & wiped. I notice these things because I work in a healthcare industry so I appreciate them taking their time doing this.

$28 something for dinner - eat all you can , hot pot and sushi. Portions are decent.

Bathroom is clean. Place is organized. The staff is friendly. I’d come back here for a budget price.

Great experience. The sushi was great and fresh- I loved the fresh pink pickled ginger on the side.
The hot pot was great too. We ordered the Tom Yum and House broth, specialty broths cost $3 per side. I saw mixed reviews for the Tom Yum but when we went last weekend it was very tasty, just not very spicy. Delicious though!
The service was nice, our waitress brought water over often. I am a big fan of enoki mushrooms, that is really my favorite part of the hot pot. When I ordered it for the second time it didn't come, I think because I wrote down "5", haha. Next time I will just ask for a platter of them. I would rather eat the enoki mushrooms than the meat.
When we were ordering we wanted to try the sushi pizza. We thought it was going to be a makimono roll, but it was salmon in mayo and roe on top of a fried rice cake and sticky sauce. It was not very good, I don't recommend it.
I liked the wooden booths, and the waitress graciously spread everyone out. The ceiling is a little gross because of the water stains, but no big deal. It was a very clean restaurant.
My partner and I can't wait to come back for our anniversary. It is worth the hour public transit plus walking journey to get there.
