Oishii Boston is located in the South End SOWA district. Since 2006 we have been devoted to providing each guest with a memorable dining experience. Our dedicated and knowledgeable staff will help guide you through your culinary journey. Chef Ting San and his team are committed to using their creativity, to transform the freshest ingredients into works of art. We offer craft cocktails, rare Japanese whisky and an extensive sake and wine collection. Whether you're looking for a quick bite at our lively sushi bar, grabbing a cocktail in our contemporary Tokyo-style lounge, or trying one of our Omakase offerings at a romantic table next to our waterfall, we look forward to offering a unique experience to each guest.
I visited Oishii with a small work group for a holiday celebration and we had a fantastic experience. The service was excellent—very attentive, made thoughtful recommendations, quick to refill water glasses, etc. and the food was delicious. I specifically enjoyed the Crispy Vegetable Dumplings, and the Shrimp Explosion and Japanese Yam Tempura Speciality Maki. We were far too full for dessert but decided to “just take a look”…and of course had to try a couple. The green tea layered cake (cannot remember the exact name) was absolutely delicious—would highly recommend! All in all a great meal. Quite expensive overall, so will make it an only-for-special-occasions restaurant, but would return (and likely order a similar slate of entrees).

My friend and I headed to Boston to visit a good buddy, and we said ‘Pick the best sushi restaurant you can find’. We maybe should have said ‘but let us know what it costs’?
Ending up at Oishii was the best outcome possible when it came to the food, the ambience, the service, and just overall experience. I kid about the price - yes, it’s expensive - but I don’t know that you’ll find a cooler sushi spot anywhere in New England. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night, and every table was packed with people having a great time. Date nights, large groups of friends - the energy was electric.
The presentation of the dishes alone was worth the trip, and the food lived up to everything else going on around it. If you want to splurge with no regrets - get yourself a table at Oishii.

The food we was phenomenal. One of the best Japanese restaurants we had for sure. We had Wagyu Beef Tartare, 20 pieces sashimi, and the coconut sphere for dessert. We started out with a "sphere" in appetizer and ended up with a "sphere" in the desert. Everything was so tasty and "oishi" 😉. The coco sphere was out of this world and yumy (never had anything like that before), just right, not too sweet. Still wondering how they made it. The waiter was nice and fun but the 2 bus persons were a bit odd, in a hurry to take the plates from us. Their restroom door male and female label cracked me up and got me confused for a bit.

The presentation was also stunning, with beautifully crafted garnishes and artistic plating. However, the prices were steep, and I felt that the quality, while exceptional, didn't quite justify the cost. Unfortunately, the value for money wasn't there, making it a pricey indulgence rather than a regular dining option. Perhaps with more competitive pricing, Oishii Boston could truly shine as a top-tier Japanese restaurant.

This restaurant experience was refined, very pleasant, and tasty the whole way through. We were sat immediately even without a reservation and treated to complementary edamame mousse which was unique and light. We then ordered a few delicious sushi rolls with the highlight being the Waygu Beef - which even makes my mouth water now thinking about it. We really enjoyed the ambiance and the staff was incredibly tentative and kind. Perfect for a date night!

We went for omakase to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was good, high quality with good flavor. However, while the prices suggest a high-end experience, the restaurant falls short in delivering a luxurious atmosphere/services. I mean, paying $300 per person (before tips), you'd expect a chill vibe and top-notch service. Our waiter was nice, but he struggled with remembering the names of the ingredients/fish. He kept apologizing like five times while introducing dishes. Plus, omakase offers no interaction with sushi chef, we also didn’t see the chef preparing our dishes. There’s no separation of omakase and normal sushi roll seating, and the seating was a bit cramped, we could hear everything our neighbor tables were chatting about, definitely didn’t feel the desired chill ambiance for Omakase.

We didn’t know what to expect, it was out first time here and last night in Boston. And what a fantastic surprise it was! Incredible place! The food was phenomenal! We tried salmon on fire, escargot, wagyu steak and few sashimi’s. Everything tasted so good and fresh.
They have a mini sports bar or formal, sexy dining room. Out server was great with service, manners and sake suggestion. We absolutely loved an experience here, definitely recommend!

This place is considered to be one of the best Japanese restaurants in the area. But I think the service provided is not so “best”. The food is okay and is served pretty quickly. However, I had a quite confusing experience when checking out. The server asked me whether to give me the change, since I paid in cash and did not remember how much the bill is, I asked for the change and planned to give the tips afterwards. Then the server gave the change back and reminded me that “the tip is not included”. This is somehow uncomfortable for me but I understand on some level. What’s the most disappointing thing is that they did not give me the exact change, and they did that without even asking me. At most cases I would leave the small change like coins as tips, but I do not think this is something a restaurant should do without asking. If you expect the tip, I then would expect the service. I was planning to give a decent tip since the food was served quickly, but I just end up giving only the change given to me. I don’t know if this is the restaurant’s decision or the server’s decision. But I am very disappointed and will not visit again.

NOT worth the prefix. Got the 6 course and the food was fine, but I had a hard time deciphering what could possibly make this worth $225. Ive spent the same amount for higher quality and more food in Monaco at Niwaki. The hot stone for cooking beef popped grease everywhere and stained my very nice silk shirt. Didn't even eat the dessert, as it was disappointing. Atmosphere, service, and food was fine. Just severely underwhelming and overpriced.

Very good Japanese restaurant that is a but pricier but worth the splurge. They have an omakase option >$200. The appetites and main all range from $20-50. We had the hamachi kama which was good (nothing special). I would really recommend the toro truffle and salmon on fire. They had a lovely edamame dish prior to our meal that was so delicious and unique. We also had the shiitake galore (would have been nice with smaller bites of rice), seafood risotto (more porridge in flavor, but delicious), and uni pasta (surprisingly heavy/creamy, could benefit from maybe a little spiciness). Overall would recommend this place with its great ambience and delicious dishes.

Okay, this was entirely my fault. I got a little carried away by what I “thought” was the newly improved restaurant scene in Boston after having a few excellent meals at Japanese Spots here. This was not one of those meals.
In my defense: I scoped Oishii out extensively online. Looked at many pics, read through multiple online versions of their menu (which were very misleading…).
Here’s the problem at Oishii: I’m going to go out on a limb and say that at least 90% of the menu items are deep fried/tempura. Not kidding. There is this huge, long sushi bar fully staffed with chefs and they’re deep frying every, damn thing. I’m sure that sells. It’s probably not a problem for them. Deep Fried sushi is not my thing and not why I came. So….my bad.
I had actually planned what I was going to order/eat from reading thoseonline menus. Pretty much none of the items I was planning to order actually appeared on the menu last night. I’m assuming they serve what sells for them: Tempura Everything. #eyeroll
The spot itself is very beautiful. Multiple levels, multiple bars and dining areas. Really lovely furnishings and serving plates, etc. Also? EXCELLENT Sake List. One of the best, most extensive I’ve ever seen. Super impressive. If they had had even just a “basic” sushi section on that menu Oishii might have worked for me. As in you can’t just order some ala carte pieces of sushi and/or some simple rolls. (I was not given a menu including that. I can see one online. Maybe I should have asked. I just assumed the fancy, bound menu they gave me was the entire menu??) You must choose from a large page of very elaborate rolls. I managed to find two that did not contain deep fried ingredients. And one of those was a California Roll.
Oishii is A Lot of Show and very little substance. Looks good. Decent vibe. Underwhelming food. What they’re serving is trying too hard. Everything is muddled. Too much tempura. Flavors and ingredients are not able to stand on their own.
On the upside: Portion size is ginormous. One roll will likely do you. So you could have a wonderful bottle of Sake and eat one giant Tempura something and be good!
What I had:
Cucumber Salad: EXCELLENT. Best thing I had. Led me to have irrationally high expectations.
Fried Vegetable Dumplings: really disappointing. Fast food type dumpling that was overcooked.
Spicy Salmon Crispy Rice: Very meh. I have no idea what was mixed in with the spicy salmon. But it was A LOT of stuff which made the entire piece too large. Almost impossible to eat. Which is a clear failure in the world of sushi. You must actually be able to get the piece into your mouth…
Scallop Crispy Shiso (I think this was on the appetizer menu): Okay, this was DELICIOUS. But this is also an entire meal. Tempura shiso leaf with a scallop on top and then piled high with shredded, fried Taro. This is one of dishes you can order with your excellent Sake and be one and done!
Mixed Green Salad: I needed to cleanse my palate from all the fried…basic salad. It was fine.
“Real” California Roll with King Crab. It was good. Basic. Fine.
For the Love of Salmon Roll: Tobiko, Avocado, Cucumber, Seared King Salmon, Ikura, Shiso, Spicy Mayo. Really good, gigantic roll. Very “busy.” Lots of things going on. Not usually my thing. But again, order one of these and you’re good!
I tried their “signature dessert” which is the definition of trying too hard. Hahahahahaha. So much going on. Presentation over substance. Cannot recommend. It’s something like a big, frozen coconut egg with some espresso mousse inside sitting in a little base of yuzu with some berries. #eyeroll
Nice Date Spot. If you live in the area also nice spot. Not worth making the effort to travel to.

Good sushi, but price level is beyond expectation
Published a year ago
Pretty dissapointed by my experience here. I spent close to $2000 in a night and expected the service to be better based on the price point. When I initially asked what the omakase menu consistent of, I was surprised to have him say he didn’t want to ruin the surprise. I would like to know what I’m paying for and what exactly to expect or the general ballpark. It was a very interesting response but We ended up doing the omakase 9 course with the sake pairing for three people. It took a very long time for us to even get menus initially, the server kept bringing things in twos even though there were three people seated at the table. For example, he only brought to of the soy sauce trays and never brought a third - when I asked for one he never brought it until halfway through the omakase course.
And I understand I tend to order more food than necessary but I didn’t appreciate the look of disdain and skepticism every time I asked if I could order something else or if I like take a look at the menu again. It really left a bad taste in my mouth and again, I feel like I came here more so for the experience and ambiance just as much as the food. At the end of the night, I honestly felt like it was such a waste coming here because whole party felt ignored, it was impossible to get the bill let alone order anything else. Our waiter disappeared constantly even though there was really not too many people that night. I don’t think i will be coming back or recommending this to anyone unfortunately. There are better, more attentive omakase and fine dining sushi restaurants in Boston that I frequent and I was hoping to make Oishii another restaurant on my list of go-to’s but after my lackluster and frankly rude experience with the waiter. I will not be back.

Excellent service with very solid dishes! We ordered lobster dumplings, salmon on fire, wagyu sliders (not pictured because I inhaled them), the treasure spoon, the toro truffle maki, and the red bean creme brulee.
The lobster dumplings were well sized and served with an oyster like dipping sauce. Lots of texture and very crispy. Salmon on fire was tasty, well presented and served alongside a raspberry vinaigrette that paired really well. The wagyu sliders were delicious and came with a wasabi aoili that I loved although I added some extra wasabi for an extra kick. The treasure spoon was a fun experience and full of umami flavor while the toro truffle maki was a bit mild for my taste. I found myself dipping it in the soy sauce as a "need" vs a want but I'd love to explore other maki options. The red bean creme brulee was perfect with a crunchy top and was delicious to pair with the red bean ice cream.
Our server Brenden was very well versed with the menu (flavors, portions, etc) and made great, honest recommendations. Brenden along with the other staff members were attentive and polite from start to finish. 10/10! The ambiance was dim and moody with interesting decor and water installations that elevated the space in a unique way.
Ask for a Japanese old fashioned, it's not on the menu, but you won't be disappointed.

Perfect for dates or solo dining at the bar.

Came here for the 9-course omakase menu as I'd heard a lot of praise about it. While it is pricey, it is very filling despite being 9 courses, compared to some omakases which can be 12-20+ courses. Additionally, the presentation of each item was impressive and the food itself was amazing as well. There is flexibility in the omakase as well if there are certain preferences or allergies which is helpful. The only downside was that you don't necessarily get a chef making it in front of you and narrating as you do in some traditional omakase experiences. That said, the servers know what they're handing you and can explain it all. Service was very friendly and accommodating.

This place was a miss for me. Had the tasting menu. The food was just ok, but they served what was basically a small steak on course 3 which filled us up for the entire meal. Half the courses were too rich. The fact you could watch the multiple sushi chefs standing there idle, bored, and chatting in what sounded like Cantonese while it took way too long between courses was a very weird vibe for a "fancy" Japanese restaurant. I don't think people realize how Chinese this place is, but most people probably don't realize almost all the sushi places around Boston are Chinese run too.

Quite a steep price for basic sushi. Sure it wasn’t out of a supermarket fridge, but one $30 maki is pretty laughable. For someone who has no other choice, delicious for sure. Maybe the wagyu and rare items are great when served in a fancy way, but there are heaps of nice sushi restaurants around Boston equal in taste.

High-end sushi spot in South End with great vibes and solid food.
Recently took a visit for my friend’s birthday. The restaurant's atmosphere exuded a high-end vibe, suitable for special occasions. We initially considered the omakase but opted for à la carte due to mixed reviews and a preference for more sushi-centric options.
Our meal commenced with a complimentary cold porridge, an excellent amuse-bouche that set the tone. From the small plates, the Black Cod was a highlight, though it didn't quite reach the buttery heights that I experienced at Uni. The Rock Shrimp Tempura and Tartare Tower, despite their immaculate presentation, didn’t quite live up to their hefty price tags. The Salmon on Fire, with its dramatic 'flaming hot' presentation, was a letdown, offering little beyond regular salmon slices and barely noticeable fried shallots and raspberry gastrique.
On the other hand, the B52 sushi roll was a pleasant surprise, and our selection of nigiri, including Botan Ebi, O-toro, and Hamachi, was generally of good quality. However, some pieces like Anago and Kin Medai were mediocre. We finished off the meal with their most popular Uni pasta. While it boasted a creamy and rich umami flavor, the absence of distinct Uni pieces was a letdown, especially given the dish's premium price.
Overall, Oishii offers an experience suitable for special occasions with an ambiance to match. However, when it comes to the sushi's quality and overall execution, it falls short compared to other high-end sushi options in Boston. While some dishes were memorable, others were not compelling enough to make me return.

I tried the Chicken Fried Rice, Wagyu Beef Maki, and Oyster Sushi at Oishii Boston. The service was prompt, and the staff was attentive, checking on me after each dish. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere with pretty decorations and dim dark lights making it a perfect place to have conversations with friends and family. My only gripe was the lack of a visible sign outside, making it a bit challenging to find initially. The price is little bit to the higher end but the flavors were delightful, prompting a desire to return for more culinary exploration. I do suggest this place to others. The 4 star cause there's always room for improvement with the dishes and the taste.

The whole experience was great. I've had better food, but you won't be disappointed. The venue is enjoyable, and our server was fantastic and very knowledgeable. The only drawback was the drink pricing. There is no reason for single beer to be $16. Makes it really hard to enjoy the experience when a single drink is cost more than minimum wage.

We dined here during our honeymoon, expecting a premium culinary experience given the price point. Unfortunately, the food was below average compared to what we’ve come to expect in the Boston area. Additionally, our waitress seemed a bit rushed and lacked the warmth we hoped for during our special celebration.

My wife and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our honeymoon, a momentous occasion for us, especially as avid restaurant-goers in the Boston area. Regrettably, our experience didn't quite match the specialness of the event.
On the positive side, the food was decent. We indulged in some premium beef and sushi, which, while not extraordinary, held their ground in terms of taste and quality. The culinary experience, however, seemed somewhat subdued given the premium price point we were expecting something a bit more remarkable. My wife's drink was just okay, nothing that we would rave about.
Unfortunately, our dining experience was marred slightly by the ambiance and service. We were seated downstairs, a notably dark space that made it challenging to fully appreciate our meal visually. Adding to the less-than-ideal setting was a noisy water fountain nearby, which somewhat hindered our conversation and didn't allow us to have a personal, intimate dining experience that we were looking forward to on our honeymoon.
Furthermore, the service left something to be desired. Our waitress, although fulfilling her duties, seemed rushed and somewhat aloof. We missed that warm, welcoming attitude and personalized service that can turn a meal into an experience. Moreover, the lack of insightful recommendations for menu selections felt like a missed opportunity to elevate our dining experience.
Overall, we would rate our experience at this restaurant as a 3-star visit. While the food was passable, the service and ambiance failed to meet our expectations for a restaurant at this price point, especially when compared to other establishments we frequent in the area. We had hoped for a more memorable and pleasant experience to commemorate our special occasion.
We sincerely hope that our feedback will be taken as constructive criticism, with the aspiration that future patrons may enjoy a more enriched dining experience.

For how much you are paying for, the food is not worth the price. The best part of the meal was actually the complementary edamame mousse appetizer. The mushroom app was also good, but the specialty rolls were hugely disappointing. The soft shell crab was very fishy and the sushi rice was not vinegary enough. The shrimp explosion came with a lot of shrimp but they were too bland in the batter without much sauce to go with (and the right pairing with the provided dark soy sauce). The sea bass was surprisingly good as well but the bowl rice it came with is too mushy. The dish was great but it was a little too salty and left us parched for three glasses of water. Had to complement our server though, they were great. The atmosphere was good but the rolls are just not good enough to be worth how much they are charging for.

Our experience with the chef's tasting menu was incredible! I really appreciated that they allowed my partner and I to share a single order of the six courses, which I know is not always permitted by restaurants. These courses (the last of which was dessert), plus one cocktail each, was more than enough to fill us both up with some of the most amazing food we've ever had. Our waiter, Derek, was knowledgable about every dish, and was sweet and attentive. The other waiters were constantly refilling our water and removing used plates, which made us feel taken care of. Finally, I appreciate that the restaurant placed a birthday candle on the dessert at my request, as a surprise to my partner. This is a truly elevated fine dining establishment and I can't wait to return!

This place was on our list since a long time and finally we visited it yesterday. Me and my husband, we both are vegetarians (who eat eggs), so we were a little unsure of what we could get but to my surprise they have decent number of options for vegetarians. We tried the Veg Dumplings, veg Maki and the veg fried rice. Veg dumplings were hot, crispy and freshly made; I was soo happy that they weren't oily. It came with some dip which was sooooo delicious thar we ended up ordering one more plate of it. The veg Maki was also nice and light. The vet fried rice was just perfect. The highlight was the coconut sphere, it was the perfect dessert for us. It wasn't too sweet and heavy. It was just perfect to have after a heavy dinner. The only thing I didn't like was the location of our table, they had a small room in the basement where there were 3 tables and one of it was ours. I just wished the tables were a bit far apart, coz all three tables were so close to each other that we could hear what the other person on the table was talking. I hope they remove 1 table atleast from there.

Seaweed salad- ok. The seasoning was nice but seaweed not very fresh.
Shrimp tempura roll- fine
Service - not great, for example waitress had no idea why I was asking about seasonal fish and didn’t care 旬の魚知らなかった. Response was, if we don’t have the fish, we cross it off menu.
No serving chopsticks or utensils provided for shared dishes.

The food was delicious and the service was quick and efficient. Recommend the wagyu and creme brule. It's a bit pricey though considering the ambience.

Unless you’re ready to spend, maybe Oishii is yet to be for you. If you have some to spare, then it’s definitely worth a try! Their sashimi is one of the freshest I had in Boston.
Definitely on the pricier side, but once you’ve tried you’d know why. The effort for the vegetarian options are there, the Vegetarian Truffle maki is done creatively.
For dessert, the Coconut Sphere has an interesting flavor profile that must NOT be missed.

Tried the omakase and it was the best I've ever had, and was frankly very impressive. The portions were a lot larger than expected and included several pieces of fish per dish which was nice. It really felt like the food justified the price. It was also generally a nice place, good date spot.

For a $30 Seafood Udon Soup, I would expect more variety of good quality ingredients, but I got 10 small shrimps and some frozen imitation seafoods that you can get from any Asian market for less than $5. I would have walked out and went to any different places in south Boston for food with better price, but I was invited there by friends so did not want to be rude. I feel bad for my friends since she could have saved money.....

Service was awful.
We(me and my friend) were assigned to a 6-seat table, then another waiter came and said we were in the wrong table, but this person said it was our fault to choose this table, and the attitude was rude.
Food is normal, but price is high-end. Not worth it, AVOID!(unless you wanna have an experience about rude service&normal food with extremely high price.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Oishii for its omakase and overall, my experience was positive. I would rate this restaurant 3.7 stars out of 5.
The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the dessert, which was a chocolate lava cake and vanilla sherbet ball. Absolutely amazing. The first three courses were also quite impressive and left me feeling satisfied. However, the main course, which were a sushi combo, was quite disappointing- the fish were not fresh and super chewy. As someone who enjoys sushi, I was disappointed by this aspect of the meal.
That being said, the service at Omakase was top-notch. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, which made for a pleasant dining experience. It was clear that they wanted to make sure that all of their customers were comfortable and well taken care of.
Overall, while the sushi course left something to be desired, the other courses and dessert were quite good. If you are looking for a upscale, nice dining experience - they are worth considering.

i saved up for this meal and ended up spending 150. was super looking forward to this in a quick stop in boston to fly out in the am. miso soup and crispy rice were hot and great! everything else was a huge letdown and i'm super disappointed. fish quality was poor and lacked flavor. salmon was topped with strawberry(?) interesting choice. otoro was the biggest let down at 13$ a piece. terribly stringy.
staff gossiped and watched tv loudly near where i was seated.

went here for valentines day and had some of the best sushi i've ever had. it is on the expensive side but it is definitely worth it every once in a while. our favorite was the toro truffle. but we also got the uni sushi, the crabcake and the torched sushi roll

It’s more like an Asian food restaurant, not the authentic Japanese restaurant. Food is great. Seems like pricey but the spicy udon noodle soup and seafood risotto are really big.
However sushi and sashimi are not very recommended. Sushi rice in ikura is too soft. Toro is worst one I got ever because there’s a lot of texture that hard to chew. Definitely not worth the price.

Girlfriend going with me to Boston on the trip wanted to eat something luxury one night and we found this place through internet searches. From the outside it may not look like it’s open but you are sure it is once you enter and smell the lively action. We arrived earlier than our reservation time (for almost an hour) but they were able to sit us at the sushi bar which is nice.
We ordered the dishes recommended by others: the wagu beef, the salmon on fire and the umi pasta. Presentation for the two appetizers were great, taste wise we wouldn’t say it is exceptional but I guess you are probably here for a special date so it is more important for things to look good on pictures.
The moldy container at the sushi bar holding some green can use a replacement, but otherwise the place is clean, staff is friendly and the smoke from all the wagu beef in the air makes this a delightful dining experience.

My partner and I go here when we’re craving good sushi. We are well aware of the price and are willing to pay for the good food, good service and ambience. When going here, we’ve learned that: 1. Get a la cart and sashimi 2. Specialty rolls are not worth it here. Go next. 3. Must get dessert. They are really refined and super fun. It’s something that doesn’t exist much in Boston dining.
Typically our must haves are: salmon on fire, chefs choice sashimi, coconut sphere. All of these are no question the best items on the menu.
When we eat with others we get to mix it up a bit so here’s my take on the other dishes we had.
Scallop and shizo - unfortunately the shizo flavour didn’t come through as much as I would’ve liked but it was inevitable. A bit of a mess to eat but the taro is so thin and delicious. Wish there was a stronger citrus element to cut through the fried everything. Wouldn’t order again but glad I tried.
Sesame chocolate dessert - get if you love chocolate. I’m not a chocolate lover so this looks super impressive but didn’t hit the mark for me.
Red bean crème brûlée - try this once if you love crème brûlée. How it was structured was super intriguing and the red bean pairs well with the creaminess. The red bean ice cream is definitely unique and the base is super flavourful and complements the red bean well. The bean flavour is not as prominent compared to other red bean desserts.
Hot stone wagyu - don’t do American wagyu, it’s a waste of you money. It was yummy but not worth the price. Especially went you can buy Japanese wagyu for home at the local Japanese market.
Overall, we come here for the raw fish and desserts. We found some apps we know are solid. But stick what you know you’ll love.

We highly recommend Oishii. This is our favorite sushi and Japanese restaurant, rated above Zuma and Lola 42.
We ordered the following:
1. Youme Hamachi (Rating 10/10) - This was so good we ordered two orders. The hamachi was tender and the coffee and truffle ponzu was a nice touch
2. Toro Truffle (Rating 7/10)
3. Lamb Chops (Rating 8.5/10) Surprisingly good as the meat was tender
4. Salmon on Fire (Rating 7/10) - It looked nicer than it tasted. Would recommend leaving the salmon longer as the fire did not cook it too well
5. Crispy Pork Belly (Rating 7.5/10)
6. Hamachi Kama (Rating 8.5/10)
7. Black Cod (Rating 8/10) - The sweet white miso sauce was amazing
Great job Oishii!

A Japanese sushi restaurant with fusion style. Reservation is recommended. The restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday. Good customer services. Good food presentation with a modern touch. Food is infused with other regions where the main theme of Japanese style is maintained. We ordered several sushi and other fusion dishes.

Visiting Boston for the weekend and had the opportunity to dine at several great restaurants but unfortunately Oishii was the sole exception. This “Asian fusion”sushi place honestly served average food (at best) for truly above average prices even for higher end sushi places. The specialty rolls including the signature “black toro truffle” roll (32$) and “for the love of salmon” roll (30$) were utterly disappointing in flavor and in quality of fish. The yellowtail jalapeño appetizer and pieces of sashimi including salmon, tuna, and hamachi were good as was the steamed gyoza. The hand rolls were delivered to the table with the sea weed paper so soft and soggy that we were shocked. Also surprising was that the “regular” wasabi served to the table was chalky and dense and more indicative of wasabi served at a takeout place than an establishment often cited to be one of the top 3 sushi restaurants in Boston. In all, a mixed experience and for the price point, can’t imagine coming back.

Took my boyfriend here for a surprise birthday dinner! We’ve had a lot of omakase and pick a new omakase spot for each birthday & anniversary. Oishii was top class and you definitely get what you pay for.
We decided to taste the 9 course omakase menu! It was absolutely incredible and would definitely recommend adding the A5 wagyu steak with truffle.
Every single dish was well thought out, balanced and just out of this world. We started with the treasure UNI spoons, not only were they incredible, but it was so well thought out down to the point where you could eat the spoons themselves.
Not only was the food amazing, but the experience was even better. Maggie our waitress made our night absolutely amazing and completely blew us away with her kindness. She definitely made our night an unforgettable one for sure.
Luke also was considerate, passionate about what he does and put together a fantastic sake program!
I couldn’t recommend Oishii more. Definitely come here if you’re looking for the best of the best Omakase & sushi.

The sushi and sashimi were outstanding. We went for the Chef's Choice rather than the Omakase - we were after a great sushi/sashimi experience rather than a potluck of tasting plates. The ambience was a little more nightclub than I would like. The waitress was knowledgeable and efficient. The bus staff mostly seemed lost and perplexed. Note after response: my partner and I explicitly wanted a large amount of exquisite sushi and sashimi, which is what we got. The Omakase doesn't explicitly offer exactly that which is what I meant by "potluck". I'm sure the Omakase is excellent - but not what we were after.

Good experience, overall, definitely overpriced.
We started with some appetizers we got crispy rice with spicy tuna, salmon on fire and wild mushrooms plate everything was really good. My personal favorite of the appetizers was the salmon on fire. For main, we ordered multiple rolls
Toro Truffle, which was ok but had a very strong truffle flavor not sure if they added truffle oil to it , white tiger roll was kk nothing special, shiitake galore it was better than the previous ones, and the best one was the crispy mango it was delicious and I loved it.
I recommend this place if you are looking for quite, high end Dinners in the south end

My Wife took me here for my birthday since we were nearby for the King Tut exhibit. The food from here may be on the pricier side, however, you can taste the freshness and the quality of the ingredients. The Japanese Wagyu appetizer was beyond incredible. The highlight for me had to be the pork belly ramen. The broth is rich and flavorful. The sushi was expensive however there were good portions for everything you got in the roll. If this was closer to me, my wife and I would be here every week.

Meh. Very average considering the price. We had the pork belly buns which were tasty. Our sushi/sashimi was underwhelming. Some of the sashimi were just huge chunks of fish, literally too big for chopstick, difficult to eat without a fork and knife. I think the chef forgot to cut the sashimi? Weird. We ended with another app, the wagyu tacos….literally dripping in grease the tortillas falling apart and the “wagyu” was grizzly.
$250+ for $100-120 quality. Feels like a restaurant pretending to be high quality with dim lighting and ok presentation, but the food cannot back it up. Good service though! Our waitress was lovely

Service was good, restaurant was nice and had a good vibe to it. That’s about it though. Parking is tough. My wife and I had the soft shell Maryland crab, wagyu sliders, pork belly app and lobster dumplings—the only app out of those that was halfway decent was the pork belly. We paid $200 with tip for these 4 apps and 1 drink each. The food was terrible with no taste and the fish was most certainly not even close to being fresh despite what the owners may say. There are far better sushi places with better food than here for much cheaper. Prices are outrageous for less than mediocre food. We ended up leaving early because we were so dissatisfied.

Excellent experience overall, although the A/C was out. The staff was very polite and attentive and provided good insight to make sure we did not over order during our first visit. Our favorite dish was the Duck, truly stellar and unique. Excellent, fresh and tender sushi, some of the best I've had. An easy choice to go.

My wife and I went to Osijek last night and got the 6 course tasting menu. For $225 each we got a beautifully presented 6 course dinner of about 1/2 ounce of fish with 1/2 ounce of tomatoes and and ounce of watermelon starter. Taste was good small dice was hard to eat with chop sticks. I’m not a chop stick novice. Next course a 2/3 ounce of salmon with fried onions truffles and soy marinate. Looked beautiful nice dish described very well. After we had a 1/2 soft shell crab spiced in plum sauce. Tasted great good presentation maybe the batter on the crab was a bit tough it was like the batter developed some gluten and was worked to much. Next course 5 pieces of nigiri mostly types of white fish with one piece of tuna. Simple Japanese cooking. Next dish was wagu beef three slices that we cooked on top of a hot pot. Simple and tasted good. Dessert was a combo of two desserts one molten lava cake with a small scoop of ice cream. The lava cake was cooked inside a ramekin and the heat was still cooking the dish while we took our time to eat it. It might be better if you turned it out of the dish so the lava could ooze out of the mini cake and flood the plate a bit then it would not over cook. The coconut sphere with yuzu ice cream was a big miss. The Hershey syrup drizzle on the plate belongs no where in a fine dinning establishment the flavor of the mouse inside the sphere conflicted and over powered the coconut flavor sphere and the yuzu ice cream was a poorly done sorbet that seamed like it had no air whipped into the “ice cream” poor name for sorbet. It also was served on a room temp plate so when you got to it is was like water almost melted.
The whole dessert had more calories than all the other food put together. I wish I felt satisfied but I feel like a few more filling choices would bring the value up. We spent almost 635 for dinner with tip as the service was suitable. But left thinking the value was not there. Doing the six course meal was probably our mistake as people around us ate more food and probably for less money.

Wow! I ordered the 9 course omakase and it was a fantastic experience. It was way too much food for me but I know which ones I'd definitely order again. We've tried A5 wagyu beef in the past in providence and vegas and didn't understand the hype until we tried it here. Everything was awesome!
