My recent visit was truly disappointing. First, I believe I got food poisoning from the artichoke dip. I felt extremely unwell shortly after dining. The food overall was bland and uninspired—not what I expected at all.

To make matters worse, the service was terrible. We had one server who took our initial order but never returned to check on us or refill drinks. We felt completely ignored.

It was my friend’s birthday, and I had noted that in the reservation. However, there was no effort to acknowledge or make it special in any way—no mention, no gesture, nothing. It felt like they didn’t care at all.

This experience was so poor that I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Wow. Where do I even start. The first thing that I have to say is I miss Houston's. The atmosphere and the vibe of the old restaurant was nothing like I ever imagined it to be. I recently went into Woodmont Grill, for a fun afternoon lunch with my grandchildren. First of all, what is up with the reservation system? Never in my 80 years of life have I ever looked up a restaurant that doesn't take parties over 4??!! This is ridiculous!!! My grandchildren were treated so poorly. The waiter had such terrible service and treated us like we were a burden to the establishment.
That is all I have to say simply about the service. Let's move on to the food.
My sushi was absolutely terrible. I had raging diarrhea for three days and realized I had food poisoning. Not only that, but after I dropped off my grandchildren, all 5 of them had raging diarrhea for a week after. WTH is in this food? It tasted almost raw (my grandsons steak) and was absolutely disgusting. I am so ashamed of this establishment. I proposed to my wife at Houstons. I had multiple family dinner parties at Houstons. Anniversaries, birthdays, you name it, Houstons was the place to go. Now, Woodmont Grill seems a stranger to me. I am overly disappointed and hope that this establishment turns a new leaf and changes the way that things go around here.

To be honest I was afraid to go to Woodmont based on negative reviews in reference to customer service. However, to my surprise the service was outstanding. They were extremely professional and genuine.

My wife and I both had salmon, a side of black eyed peas, and started with an appetizer of Brussels. We also had a one old fashion each. The dinner with tip was roughly $160. The experience was well worth the money.

There’s an unnecessary amount of drama, fussiness, and pretense with very little accommodation. While the food is good, the check-in staff often act like gatekeepers and can be quite rude. I’d rather take my business elsewhere—it’s simply not worth the hassle.

I recently visited this restaurant for a 1 PM lunch reservation, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from start to finish. Despite having a reservation, we waited a long time to be seated, and the delays continued with an extended wait for our food to arrive.

Our server, Sarah, added to the frustration. When I ordered a martini, she asked for my ID, which is standard, but her comment of “Wow, you look different” after seeing my license felt unnecessary and unprofessional. She didn’t write down our order, which led to issues later. For example, my friend had to remind her that she ordered an iced tea. Further, my fiancé reminded her that he had asked to see the cocktail menu, and she corrected him and doubled down, insisting he had ordered a second Bloody Mary with his meal instead.

Sarah’s overall demeanor was condescending—at one point, she even referred to me as a “poor girl,” which was inappropriate.

While the food itself may have been fine, the lack of organization and the rude, dismissive service made the experience unpleasant. I expected better for a lunch reservation and would hesitate to return.

I went to eat here with a friend, and he was very unsatisfied about how his steak came out. It was literally a slab of fat, throughout the whole piece of steak. After attempting to try and eat it, he decided on trying to get another steak. The manager, Sophia was extremely distasteful, disrespectful, unhelpful, and dismissive in her response. First, when the server went to get her, she walked past the table to look at the steak, but tried to act like she was just walking by. She circled back, and her initial approach was as if she didn't know what was going on. She then cut him of when he was trying to explain, to explain the marbelization of the steak, and speak to him as if he had never had a ribeye steak before. She then refused to have it remade and said "that is how ribeye's are", and then told him to get something else off the menu. She also repeatedly acted like he didn't know what he was talking about. The way she spoke was like she didn't care nor was she looking to really fix it. After he settled for another dish, she basically took the plate and walked away distastefully. When the server came back, we decided on leaving instead of receiving the new food. When we asked for the managers name, it wasn't given initially, and the check was brought to the table by another manager who didn't even attempt to address the situation or our concerns. To my surprise, there was nothing on the check that symbolized any form of apology, or reconciliation of the bad experience.

As someone who works in the restaurant industry, and manages a restaurant, this isn't the way you do it. Diminishing a customers feelings and refusing to correct unsatisfactory food is insulting. Aside from that, Sophia's demeanor and problem solving skills need to be corrected. This experience is a deciding factor for me to never return to Woodmont Grill.

By the way, dinner overall was a horrible experience & my date night was ruined. I know Sophia doesn't care, but hopefully she treats your other guest better. In my restaurant, we don't treat people this way.

This is one of my absolute favorite places for lunch meetings. They've mastered the subtely of being casual while also providing "white cloth" customer service. I had an absolutely terrible experience at woodmont grill. The manager and the hostess, Kristen, were extremely rude and unprofessional-I’m honestly unsure how they have a job in the service industry.
I made a reservation for four people an entire month out from the intended date on a Sunday night for my birthday dinner (for my husband, another couple, and their one year old baby). We intended the baby to sit on the lap of his parents.
When we arrived the restaurant refused to sit us and said we had to wait for an “appropriate table” without being given another choice.
40 minutes later there was no resolution and no accommodation upon bringing up the issue with my birthday dinner with the hostess or manager, who made condescending remarks to us for the entirety of our conversation. There was no apology when I told the manager about the way Kristin responded to the issue.

The attitude of the host/hostess and management ceases to amaze me. For a restaurant that is been a community stable in Bethesda for decades, it would be nice if they acted like they like were in the hospitality business . The rules continually change but the attitude still remains subpar.

The food may be good, and the staff polite, but the rushed service completely ruins the experience. Our dishes were removed before everyone had finished eating and even in the middle of conversations, creating a sense that we were being hurried out. This isn’t an isolated issue but a recurring pattern, which reflects a lack of respect for customers’ dining experience. No matter how good the food is, it’s difficult to enjoy a meal when it feels like the restaurant prioritizes turnover over customer satisfaction. This issue needs immediate attention.

If I could give zero stars stars, I would. The mash potatoes were cold and the customer service was awful. I entertained my 80 YEAR OLD friend and friends from out of town who do not know the area. They arrived and had a hard time finding a parking spot. My 80 YEAR OLD friend can’t walk long distances so they drove around for a long time looking for somewhere to park. They found parking a few blocks away but my 80 year old friend could not walk that far. So they kept looking for somewhere close by. They eventually decided to drop off my elderly friend and continue looking for a parking spot. I arrived first and retrieved the table. I ordered sushi and tea. So I was a paying customer upon sitting down. The manager came to my table telling me that the table will be held for 90 minutes and that the party needed to leave after 90 minutes . She didn’t ruin anyone else’s dinner with this nonsense. I let her know that I would encourage my friends to order and eat fast as we still had 45 minutes left. (by her logic) Then after 10 minutes, she came back to my table repeating herself as if we didn’t agree to hurry once my 80 YEAR OLD friend arrived. My 80 year old elderly friend was at the front looking for me at this point. However, I had to entertain the tyrant manager at my table for having an elderly dining with me. The manager was still carrying on and telling me to leave my table after only 45 minutes although she said that I had the table for 90 minutes. I can’t help that 80 year old seniors walk slow and out of town friends do not know the area. (where to park) I was ordering food as soon as I arrived. So, I am not sure why I was harassed today at Woodmont Grill. I was drinking my tea that I paid for when the manager ruined my dinner and the entire time that I was entertaining my friends I was having anxiety about the manager coming back to harass us for a third time. While they were eating, I asked for the check just to get out of there so that my 80 year old friend didn’t have to experience the worst customer service at an establishment that I have ever experienced in my life. DO NOT COME to Woodmont Grill if you don’t want to be treated like a sub-par PAYING CUSTOMER. What establishment harasses their customers?

Ok been coming to WM for years ! First off it is a cashless restaurant ( I believe MD and DC prohibit this ..... it's decriminalization against people that wish to pay cash) I think that is crazy but they will take their tips in cash!! They don't serve doubles at the bar so don't ask for a double shot of anything they will tell you No! But here is the kicker ....I went there for lunch and I want the chicken sandwich with a house salad instead of fries! They said No ! They don't substitute . I would have to buy a al cart salad.. if it wasn't for that brownie and ice cream I would never go back !! Come on WM

TERRIBLE! I didn’t go in there to eat but I had an interview on 11/05/24 at 3:40. I waited at the host stand for about 7 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. The young woman who I had the interview with, acted like she didn’t remember she had scheduled to meet with me. We sat down and she asked me about 3 questions and the interview was basically over. I tried to ask questions to get more information on the job and she was very short and it seemed like I was the one interviewing her. I payed for parking and walked 2 blocks just to be given a 5 minute interview like I was a piece of trash. I am a woman of color and I felt discriminated against by her blatant lack of interest or compassion. She ended the interview by saying “If you don’t hear from us in 24 hours, we decided to go a different direction.” At that point I already knew from the moment she saw me she had no intention on hiring me or giving me a fair interview. DO NOT GO HERE. The reviews on YELP are terrible too. Shame on you for wasting peoples time! Very unorganized and unprofessional.

I recall when this was a Houston's and that may have been the last time I was here, but Woodmont Grill is quite a popular place in NoGeo (North of Old Georgetown), where there's still a bit of the old Bethesda vibe (while it lasts). A counterpoint to the Tastee Diner next door, Woodmont Grill is a very classy interior, dimly (but adequately) lit tables, one of the most massive open kitchens I've ever seen, quite romantic in a way. The cocktail menu has not caught up with today's craft cocktail trend, but there are some highlights. With such a large kitchen, you'd think they would have a menu to match, but the top third of the menu is sushi rolls, seemingly out of character, but it must work for them. The rest of the menu, by appearance, is about as standard as you'd find at any legacy family restaurant. Rotisserie Chicken, a Cheeseburger, 3 types of steak, Salmon, a few salads that I presume you can add a protein to although only one item has options. That said, the quality and flavor is very good. While the Asian salad was way over-dressed, the appetizer salad I had was really good (sort of a Cobb Salad that should've been bigger) a cheeseburger that was very tasty cooked over wood fire and a true medium rare. I presume the steak has the same wonderful flavor. Woodmont Grill may know its patrons well, but I'd like to see a more expansive menu and/or a good number of seasonal specials.

Once I arrived at the airport, I realized I misplaced my computer. I called the restaurant, spoke to Chloe, and she found my computer! She is even going to make sure to get it back to me (even though I live in another state).

The food is great, service is wonderful and the extra steps they took to make sure I get back my computer is spectacular. I recommend this place to anyone.

I’ve given these restaurant three different tries. Each time it’s been a different issue. During one visit, we’d made a reservation and were on time. We still waited 45 mins to be seated.

The last time my family went, we brought our toddler daughter and they said they had no high chairs or boosters available. It’s not that you can’t bring children, it’s that they simply do not provide these to families bringing children. A heads up would’ve been nice as we would’ve planned accordingly and perhaps not brought our child. We ended up having to leave as no accommodations were offered.

I try to be understanding with restaurants as I know there are so many factors involved— hence my multiple visits. But it has been truly disappointing for a different reason every time with little concern on the restaurant’s part.

I rarely write restaurant reviews, preferring to simply not return and share my experience privately with friends. However, my visit yesterday has pushed me to speak out. For context, I've been a loyal patron of this establishment for years—back when they had their own parking lot and a friendly parking attendant. But recently, what was once a beloved local gem has morphed into an overbearing, restrictive place that I can no longer support.

It’s not the food, which is now just average, nor the servers, who are also just average. It’s the entire experience that’s soured. I invited two out-of-town friends, eager to introduce them to what I once considered a hidden treasure. Upon seating, one friend ordered a Shirley Temple. The host promptly informed us they don’t carry grenadine. Fine, that’s understandable. So, she asked for a lemonade, only to be told they don’t serve that either because squeezing lemons takes too much time. Really? In the D.C. area, where people love their lemonade and Arnold Palmers, you couldn’t find a quicker solution? She had to settle for water and a mango puree tea, which was terrible.

Then, our other friend arrived—looking adorable in her hat, which she confided was covering up a bad hair day. The host’s first move? Asking her to remove it. We all froze, knowing the vulnerability she had just shared with us. Her eyes were full of embarrassment as she slowly removed the hat. It was a ridiculous, unnecessary request that killed the vibe. I was ready to leave right then.

I don’t know what clientele they’re trying to attract with these increasingly absurd restrictions, but I felt more like I was in a strict classroom than at a place meant for relaxation and enjoyment. They clearly want to project an image of high-end dining, but high-end means indulging your customers and making them feel special—not policing their every move.

To top it all off, I requested fries and a salad to-go, something I’ve done countless times before, only to be met with yet another “no.” Apparently, they no longer allow french fries to-go. At this point, the whole experience had left such a bad taste in my mouth, I knew it was time to let go.

After 24 hours of reflection, I’ve made peace with the fact that I’ll never return. I truly hope they manage to attract the clientele they seem so intent on catering to, because the people they’re pushing away are the ones who have been keeping them afloat all this time.

I came in for lunch with a client and initially asked if I could get a Cesar salad w/salmon. This - oddly - was not available, even though salmon was on the menu. So, I ordered it w/Chicken. This was possibly the worst salad I have ever received in a restaurant. The lettuce was of very poor quality, and it was absolutely saturated in dressing. There were a few pieces of chicken thrown on the salad, but it was most unappealing looking. Also, I ordered a soda water with lime and got a tiny bottle of soda water. I was wondering if I was on candid camera and someone was going to come out and say, "got you". Shame on you for serving this quality of food. I will never come back to this restaurant.

Extremely disappointing. I used to go regularly about 9 years ago but upon returning to Bethesda, went with a friend (at lunch, on a weekend) and had the worst meal experience either of us have ever had.

The staff seemed very pretentious - rather than a "the customer is always right" policy, it seemed like we somehow offended them (and then it devolved from there), possibly by not making a reservation in advance (which you used to not be *able* to do, and despite their not being very busy at the time)? The manager herself was quite polite and attentive, if only everyone was that way we would have greatly enjoyed our experience.

We weren't sure how the menus had changed since the past and after being treated rudely, we almost left without eating but instead ordered just simple burgers "medium". However they both came out very pink and we sent one back and worried about the other (my friend suffered very bad stomach pains a few hours afterwards - we aren't sure if related). The spinach dip appetizer was quite nice though, and they brought extra chips for them. They did keep messing up our drinks, again bringing out something different than we ordered. So of the 4 things we ordered, 1 was great though 3 were incorrect (the manager did take one burger off the bill).

The atmosphere is excellent - dim lighting indoors, you can eat outdoors if you prefer, in the evenings there used to be music (& reviews say yes still now) and there used to be a bar serving alcohol (that looks to still be there). Beware they do seem to be quite picky about their dress code policy.

I will chalk this up to simply a bad day on their part, but still it seems like they are putting on airs of being a "fancy" restaurant without acting like a truly great one in treating the customer well. I would pay twice this price for an actual "good" experience, but this was not worth our time to ruin our weekend plans.

Horrible host and manager service, not willing to be flexible on party size even though it was clearly a none issue in their large booth. Don’t recommend this to anyone as they are fixated on rules and policies versus customer experience. Doesn’t matter how good the food and drinks are, if you aren't welcomed from your first interaction at the host stand or by the respective manager, India, how can you possibly have a good rating. We will avoid this location but go the Newport California locations.

Woodmont Grill is one of my favorite restaurants in the DC area. Steakhouse quality food at a reasonable price. I find the service here to top notch. The staff know how to take care of their customers and provide excellent service. To start I usually order one of their unique sushi rolls and have tried almost all of them. I don’t find their specific combinations anywhere else. I also highly recommend the artichoke appetizer if it is in season. I also always get an order of their French fries which are thin and crispy with a side of Béarnaise sauce. This always compliments my drink order of a dirty martini with goat cheese olives. My favorite part is when they refresh your drink with a new cold glass. It’s that little touch that makes this place so special. Now for the main reason that I come back time and time again is their Hawaiian steak. I genuinely think this is one of the best steaks I’ve ever had and having ordered it many times it is always consistent. I like my steak rare and the chef prepares it perfectly. The food, atmosphere, and price makes Woodmont Grill a spot I return to bringing friends and family with me.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 35 years. Houston's before it was Woodmont Grill. The food is always excellent and the service too. Today we went for my birthday. A few things were disappointing. We had a 12:30pm reservation. Checked in at 12:20. We were not seated until 12:50. I thought that was a pretty lengthy wait for having made a reservation. My 80 year old mom called ahead at 11:30am and spoke to someone on the phone to ask if they could bring a birthday sundae to the table as a surprise for me. The servers never brought it out. My mom did not want to make a big deal so she told me after we paid the bill. I let the hostesses know and they were very apologetic and gave me a small gift card for the inconvenience which was nice but my mom was quite upset we didn't get the dessert! To top it off my mom got the omlette and she said it was not good because there was so much cheese in it she could not eat it. She had the omlette there before and it was very good.

I wanted to make a reservation and called two days ahead to make one. The receptionist was VERY dismissive and rude. They insisted that if I wanted a reservation for 5 that I would have to make a reservations for 4 and “hope” to be seated as five upon arrival. I did as recommended and arrived at the restaurant at 3pm only to find our table have been given away and we needed to wait an additional 30mins for another table. No accommodations were made for my party and the receptionist was once again UNAPOLOGETIC. I have never been subject to such rude treatment, in an area with such high regard.

WARNING! DO NOT GO IF YOU’RE A PERSON OF COLOR!! They engage in racial profiling by refusing to offer tables to people of color, even when the restaurant is mostly empty, suggesting they sit at the bar instead. Meanwhile, they warmly welcome and seat white or lighter-skinned individuals without hesitation, even when there are plenty of available tables.

We've eaten here several times with food service and everything and a solid menu.
This is going to sound trivial, but the first two times we went (2021 or so) we had their whipped/mashed potatoes as a side and they were THE most delicious we'd ever had in our LIVES!
We went back a third time with a tasted for them, only to find they have inexplicably removed them from the menu.
Now they only have something called "potatoes calcannon" which has no appeal for us.
Bethesda is a 30 minute drive and honestly, we'd make that drive frequently if the old mashed potatoes were still on the menu. But closer places have comparable menus so I can't say we'll be back there any time soon.
Fine restaurant, but that's the sole reason for 3 stars for us. [Yes, they really were THAT good!]

We used to love ribs at Woodmont. But our visit, where all 3 of us ordered ribs, was really a disappointment -- and a waste of money given the hefty price. The ribs were dry, little meat and poor taste. I wrote a comment to the restaurant but heard nothing back. What a shame, used to be so nice.

Our favorite artichokes, smoked salmon & ahi tuna were worthy of the brand's high quality. And, CASEY (sp) abolsolutely made the entire evening special! WOODMONT management you should celebrate CASEY for 10 years of service - she & the bartender are the reason we'll be back again & again!

Used to be one of my favorite restaurants but after covid they changed the take out menu so everything is a la cart I waited 2 years for them to change this policy before posting this review. Everyone does not have the luxury of a hour interrupted lunch break and most of those people can’t afford to pay more for less.

food really good but management is pompous to say the least. Been eating there for 20+ years and the first time I take food to go the kale salad is half the size as regular. I call and manager fights me over it. I’ve probably been eating that kale salad longer than the manager has been there. Smug remarks and just 0 ounces of care from the last manager I spoke with. Ive eaten there probably 200+ times in my life and never had someone talk to me so smug. Must be new management. I’m actually less upset about my half portion salad the response from management. Wasn’t even asking for money back, just wanted the size salad I had paid for what a clown show.

This restaurant has one of the best French dip sandwiches and fries I’ve ever had in my life . The sandwich has great bread , flavorful meat that melts in your mouth, and served with some golden brown fresh cut fries .

Why the low Google rating ? Well , I cannot get over the fact , that you cannot order French fries for carryout . Their policy states that the take out fries fail to meet their standards of quality . I understand that . I think anyone who ordered French fries to go in their life knows the risk. They could get cold and soggy . I can even understand refusing to do French fries on online orders or Uber eats because the amount of time the fries will sit in a box.

However , I went to the restaurant in-person and tried to order a French dip sandwich and fries to go . I work right down the street . The hostess and manager both refused. They are telling me to my face that I can’t get a side of fries with the $28.00 sandwich .

I then proposed a hypothetical: “I could sit at the bar , order the food for here and then get a togo box and leave.” The manager said that was allowed . How stupid is that ? Let’s waste everyone’s time by circumventing this ridiculous French fry policy . So that’s what I did . I sat at the bar, ordered food and immediately packed it up and left. Tipped the bartender for fulfilling my wish.

I work a blue collar job down the street. I don’t have time to sit in the beautiful lounge and wine and dine. I’m regular guy looking to enjoy the good food the restaurant offers.

I will change my rating to 5 stars when they eradicate this oppressive French fry policy. Let me get fries when I order takeout . Thank you .

We ordered a tuna sushi dish, a seared tuna salad and the spinach dip for appetizers and they did not disappoint. For mains we opted for steak and ribs and they were some of the best I’ve tasted. Oh and get a portion of the fries— their special seasoning is something else. Highly recommend. I’ll have to go back for dessert, sadly too full this time around!

With 2 glasses of wine the tab was $140
Kind of outrageous
Especially for the worst food I have ever eaten.
And I’ve eaten at many restaurants in the area and all over the world.

We have been going to WoodMont Grill, when the place was still called Houston's.
Their food is amazing. Honestly they have the tastiest barbecue ribs that I have ever had in my life.
In addition the staff is on top of things and extremely friendly and engaged.
The service is beyond 5 stars.

There is also a very nice bar area for people to mingle and have a drink. It is very upper scale type environment.

My only 2 concerns is that they do not accept cash as a form of payment. I understand in this day and age, nobody really uses cash anymore. But I am old school and don't like to use Credit Cards.

The other things is that many moons ago, you could walk in and wait to be seated, but now, they do require reservations. (I also understand the need for that, because the place is always 100% Full)

Oh, I also forgot to mention they also have a sushi bar and it is so well made and delicious.

You will love this place.

WG has been nothing if not consistent with the quality of the food they deliver to the table. That being said, they have consistently removed menu favorites that had been staples. The chicken tenders platter, the loaded baked potato, then recently the Rainbow roll, and the Asian steak salad. They did however bring back the 5 nut brownie Sunday. So, with that being said, perhaps they will continue with a trend to bring back other favorites. A foodie would hope!

I am a regular at Woodmont Grill, been rocking Woodmont for over thirty years and love their Hawaiian steak. Was in Woodmont Grill today and order Salmon. They did not have broccol, asparagus (only chilled) and I didn't eat the other sides. I spoke with the GM Aaron and asked could I get a house for my side because I didn't eat any of the sides. He said that would be an additional cost, they couldn't accommodate me. I told him that I'm a loyal dedicated customer for over thirty years and was applaud that he wouldn't accommodate me. Aaron could care less!!! I even told him that I was going to throw the side (spinach) away because I didn't eat it. Aaron could care less. I asked him about customer service, making the customer happy. He didn't care about that. Well bye Woodmont Grill, I can't. They would rather lose a customer in lieu of accommodating them. Mastro's would have NEVER!!! And Mastro's is upscale. I would ordinarily give Woodmont Grill a five star but not the experience that I had today. Aaron you should be ashamed as a GM that's been here for 20 years, smh

I have come in time and time again. I have been coming here for more than 10+ years celebrating everything under the sun... including a random Monday lol I have gotten to know the staff as if they are family! The consistency is literally award winning 👏 and the atmosphere is its absolute complement. My favorite bartender Cynthia continues to engage me with the menu every time but also challenges me to try something new, even if it's just a soup or fish of the day. It's hard to go wrong with any meal here!!!! I love Kasey, Sophia, Teairra (not sure I spelled that right). JORDAN IS AMAZING!!, Drew. The manager Ramesh is very hospitable. Nicole is also super amazing with dealing with us guests lol I just cannot rave enough about how awesome this place is. They do seem to be inconsistent with some rules and/or meal options but I guess they keep you on your toes. First thing I want to say this is my favorite steak restaurant at Bethesda. I eat there more than 20 time and I always ask my husband why I didn’t see no Asian customer here when the steak really good.
But today Feb 22 at dinner time I got a terrible customer service. And now I need to leave a 0 star review, this is my first time ever to review bad about restaurant but I need to let people know, specially the Asian people like me.
I really upset because when I have reservations at 9:00 but I come early and show up at 8:00 to ask them if I can get in early or not I will shopping and come back on time.I come the girl right the front desk she talking with another girl, so I wait they finished the conversation. And then she started to ignore me. the girl at frontdesk don’t even look at me and keep let some people come after me check in. 4 group check in and Then I need to come to talk with the manager about she ignored me. I feel really bad when driving 47 minutes for the dinner and then they made me fell stigmas. because I wearing no dress and every one here just white?
With me this just a dinner not a special 5* restaurant to be made like, if I can come here it mean I can pay. How can she treat me like homeless. I eed to cancel the reservation because can not stay there with that treat. And the girl said she a manager just said OK.
With no apologies the girl at fron desk made me feel like I go the wrong place, this restaurant not welcome me. I’m Asian and alway tips 20% and up for the service here all the time.
Now I know why the steak is good but no Asian customer here. Because that’s way they treat me and other customer made me don’t want to come back. You win to made the restaurant with no Asian. Really really STIGMA.

I am very pleased to have the chance to denigrate this place. It is just unbelievable that such an ordinary, conventional, and actually unwelcoming venue would get this recognition - in itself a testament to the deterioration of service in the DMV area, particularly in the post-pandemic time.
I was to join a friend at 6 pm of a Friday night. The hostess "welcomed" me with a stern look, asking me repeatedly who I was joining there, not getting (or pretending not to get) my first answers, in a manner implying that I was somehow trying to "crash" the place, which was indeed already packed.
I should emphasize, in the strongest terms, that the Woodmont Grill is just like a million diners you could come across virtually anywhere in the US.
After I was seated with my friend, we quickly came under pressure to order food, with the server giving me another odd, perplexed look when, after being seated for no more than 2 mins and not having had the chance to look at the menu yet, I dared to ask her if she could give us one more minute.
When we ordered only two glasses of wine, she immediately came back to us asking if we were ordering at least some appetizers, warning us that otherwise they might have to move us to the bar, something that of course "she would hate to do." It was not even 6:30.
We ordered a sushi hors-d'œuvre, which was completely unremarkable without being bad, and were constantly asked "if we were fine" and were to order something else. By 7 we were already made felt so uncomfortable that we asked for the check.
The hostess kept giving us annoyed look s when we had the audacity to linger there talking for 5 more minutes.
I have lived in DC for a total of 14 years and was hardly ever treated this way even in the busiest District restaurant.
Throw in that this is today's Bethesda and that the Grill is certainly not located in a fancy, classy or romantic area (the quaintest things around are parking garages) and that the place's just as overpriced as everywhere in the DMV region and do yourself a favor: stay away of it.

We ordered our drinks and they came pretty quickly, followed by the appetizer--Brussel sprouts--that we had ordered. And they were huge and out of this world delicious. What a shame that the Woodmont Grill has cut away at its menu to the point that there is barely anything Special from which to choose. You can get a sandwich and a salmon fillet anywhere. Sushi is best at Japanese restaurants like Masa in Silver Spring. The Woodmont Grill used to be a destination place, where a single person, a couple, a group of friends or family could dine and enjoy great food that included great offerings of meat, chicken, and seafood. The current menu is just barely OK. Unfortunately, it appears that ownership is trying to appeal to a younger group of diners. However, the restaurant is filled with the steady diners that have been frequenting it for the last 30 years, since it was Houstons. Many young diners come in and share a cheeseburger and drink a glass of water. The older diners come in and make a complete meal with drinks and wine — they do the best that they can of diversifying their choices given how limited they are. While I don’t have statistics, we observe at every visit that older diners are spending about three dollars to every one dollar that a younger diner spends and yet the menu is not geared toward them. Check out Kansas City, Atlanta and some of the “sister” restaurants and try to reinvent your menu. Ownership needs to recognize that there is a lot of competition in the area that have similar offerings at lower prices, and they need to make themselves unique by bringing back what made Houston famous in the first place. No resting on laurels.

What a complete dry and drab dining experience for a birthday dinner! Everything about this place has cascaded downhill in my opinion beginning with the service. The service was terrible and the restaurant wasn't that busy.

Dining options have severely declined there were no crab cakes, no catch of the day, no pan seared fish. The only option that was still there was the Hawaiian for which we ordered and was very fatty. The salmon was decent and for that amount of money it's ridiculous to be getting decent. Food was so poor it wasn't even worth taking a picture!

What happened to the birthday request there was literally nothing to highlight the reason for attending this place and was requested.

Will I be going back absolutely no this place has seen it's great days. There is nothing but nostalgic memories because nothing has been renovated. Definitely would not recommend as well. Way to pricey for lackluster bland dining experiences.

We dinned at Woodmont Grille on Saturday 1/6/2024 @2pm in all that heavy rain , one in our party had on a cap I had on a hat. the one in our party who had on a cap was asked to remove the cap… keep in mid it was raining really hard outside. To asked a women to remove a cap or a hat when its raining heavily outside I think is unfair. I’m a women with alopecia who wear hats and caps for health reason. This is discriminating to ask a women with alopecia or in inclement weather to remover a cap or a hat.

We did not get a welcome feeling and our waitress wasn’t the friendliest.

We sat to your right when you enter the resturant in the corner booth we killed three nets before bring the problem to the mangers attention. I will not be dinning here again.

Also, They don’t tell you when you’ are seated they only accept credit or debit card payment…customers need to be verbally made aware of this policy when seated or before ordering.

I am a frequent connoisseur of fine dining. I was at Woodmont grill restaurant last night. Service was poor. First, they sat us at a tiny table, the seating attendant did not offer to take my large coat. I ordered sushi without avocado due to allergies but they brought it to me with avocado so i had to reorder and wait longer. Because of that mistake, my husband and I did not eat at the same time. They brought my steak out early as I had not finished my sushi. I had them bring back my steak because I was still eating. My husband and I could not eat our entrees at the same time due to this second mistake. The waiter did not check on us regularly. Overall, it was an unpleasant Christmas Eve dining experience. When you reserve with this restaurant, they clearly explain in text their dress code and how important it is to dress nicely to enjoy their high end dining experience. Unfortunately, they do not follow their own high standards with their service. Low value restaurant.

In fact, that pretty much went for all the staff. They went about their business, but no smiles here. Somehow they managed to make the thin French fries not crispy. Very disappointing! After that he never checked on me during the meal. I wanted to order more oysters for my salad b/c did not feel like an entree portion and I was still hungry. By the time he came around my plate was empty. Looks like the way WG use to season oysters changed. I like the previous way better but these were not bad. While waiting for the second order of oysters I got paired with a new server named Maggie who was lovely and super attentive. 👌
