Literally my new favorite restaurant. The food is immaculate (I highly suggest the bibimbac and crab Rangoon) and the music is awesome. The booths are private and the tables are huge!! I can't wait to come back

This place has a great vibe with huge booths for small or large parties. Food was amazing! We got the Crab Rangoon that had a healthier version. Almost like a sushi roll but very delish!! The Beef Bulgogi was amazing and very filling, Kimchi, which to say I am not normally a fan of but this was amazing!! Thank you Sarah for a great meal & awesome service!!

Brendan was good but understaffed. Slow service. Had a bud lite and the keg was sour. Had two bud lites two double crowns and the crab Rangoon price was $93.08.

No drink menu. Overall I'd say go somewhere else no music Had a loud Humm and doorbell sound very not sensory favorable. Honestly 0 out of 100

Don't go. Repeat don't go

This was the best Korean food I've had since being in Korea in 1983. The mandu was authentic and tasted like back in the day mandu. I've been searching for that for a long time. Most places say mandu and it end up being that frozen Costco stuff. The Bimbap was delicious and had ample beef. I had to come all the way from Indianapolis to find good authentic Korean food. And the posters remind you of the vill in Dongducheon ,South Korea.

Stopped in here a few times for drinks but finally got delivery last night. Can I just say WOW. Fresh and flavor packed rice, umami rich sushi, and not to mention they included all my amenities: sauce, drinks and utensils. Seems basic enough but I can't go far without the essentials! Everything was hot, fresh and I ate it til the last grain was gone. Will be back soon!

Love it. Cool atmosphere. Very large booths that could fit 8 or more. Tried the beef bulgogi and it was delicious. The crab Rangoon is very different. It is wrapped in seaweed and delicious. Our sushi rolls were all fresh and tasty. Large portion of chicken fried rice. Will definitely be back and bring even more friends. Its downtown so street parking is limited. You may need to park on a side street depending on time of day.

My son and I visited Gangnam for the first time on 7/19/24. The hours on Google are incorrect. Google states that the Gangnam opens at 11AM CT and they don't. The sign on the door states they open at Noon CT. So we had to stand outside for awhile to wait for them to open. They weren't very busy on a Friday at lunchtime. The food was delicious and the service was great. My only complaint was that the food is overpriced. My son ordered wings (8 count) and a side of fried rice and I ordered the Bibimmap with beef and an order of egg rolls and I had a tea. Our total was $66 for lunch. I'm not saying I won't return but it won't be regularly at those prices.

Arrived on a Friday night, greeted and sat immediately. Attentive service, several TVs on loudly showing various Kpop music videos. Ordered dupbap, sweet potato noodles, a sushi roll and crab rangoon, drank waters. The food was served hot & fresh, the portions were small and the prices were big ($80 incl tip for 2 people.) We won't be going back, but would recommend to others with fatter wallets.

Came to Evansville from Seattle for 5 days. Dined in the 1st day with 17 of us. In our group, we had Korean American, Chinese American and Filipino Americans. We all enjoyed the food and service. Its hard to service 17 people and had to split the check. They were so patient with us. We tried Crab Rangoon rolls, kimchee Was the bomb. Best kim chee I ever had. At the end of my trip went a 2nd time and took out udon noodles and $50 worth of sushi. The owner remembered us by name!! Met wife who is the mastermind in the kitchen and daughter who is a server. What an great family restaurant in Evansville!!!

Cute, clean restaurant and nice people. Food was really good. I’m vegetarian so I got the tofu and it had a lot of flavor. My husband got the beef bulgogi and really liked it.

We’ve been to several Korean Restaurants and we thought the K-pop on each TV was a nice touch, something different!

We will be back next time we are in Evansville for sure!

Gangnan is an experience. The interior is unique and worth a look. Last time we were in, they were playing kpop videos on the TVs inside the booths, which was very entertaining. I've not been upset with any of the sushi I've tried.

Another favorite is their crab rangoon, which is not like the typical crab rangoon found at Chinese restaurants, but is also very delicious.

This place is amazing , dragon ball z and k-pop on the tv’s. Very neat interior design. Pros: some unique dishes, serves soju , the owner is nice and interactive with guess a major plus. They have aluminum chop sticks very excellent. Great place to hang out. As to the sushi, since this is a Korean place I won’t be as hard. The sushi is tasty, presentation is great. May one complaint is the use of pollock fish (aka imitation crab) it is used in a lot of there rolls and this is a turn off to diehards. My recommendation is to incorporate more raw fish or drop the price of all your rolls by $2. But beyond that I definitely recommend giving this place a visit. I intended to return here again in a few months :) it was an enjoyable adventure!! Also note the Korean food here is excellent.

Gangham just isn’t consistent, ive been embarrassed multiple times by service with friends and various business partners going here……seems to be a distraction from actually engaging in a night out to get your mind off things……….. it seems when im alone its good but when i go with friends or a group its terrible in general. And the food is never consistent. The sushi, is just on another level bland, and just not made good, also really really small sushi pieces etc. also costs a lot, easily over $50+ for any entree/drink/app/sushi……which you go home hungry, and possibly broke ……..it seems no one wants to tell the manager that checks on you all the time, when you dont need it; but everyone is gone when you do need them….. also you feel pressured as a customer to tell the managee that is a good guy, that their sushi is bad, has fishy taste………. So thats why no one does.

We went to Gangnam to celebrate a friend’s birthday. You would have thought we rented the place out because we were the only people there and it was a Friday night and usually every restaurant is packed. My fiancé and I started with some adult beverages. I got a glass of red wine ($11) and he got the gentleman’s jack ($12). We got the egg rolls ($9) and the Crab Rangoon ($10) appetizers. They were both good! But their take on the Crab Rangoon is so unique and is probably the best one I’ve ever had! Sooooooo delicious!! Someone else in our party got the mandu is that was also good. I got the chicken bulgogi ($26) and my fiance got the chicken and beef fried rice ($23). The chicken bulgogi is served with rice and it was BOMB!!! Omggg so good! For dessert I got the fried cheesecake ($12) and it was alright. Nothing to write home to mom about. We both had 2 drinks and our bill was $140. Whew chile. Our booth was cute and had k-pop music videos playing on it, so it’s a cute date night if you’re into that. I just don’t feel like it’s worth the price. I didn’t take many pictures but next time I will. I will definitely go here again, especially for those crab rangoons because I think of them often. I don’t like that this restaurant closes after lunch at 2 and then re-opens for dinner because that’s usually when my craving hits. If you’re in downtown Evansville looking for some overpriced but delicious Chinese food give this place a try. (I know it’s Korean) but it’s giving honey chicken. I rated the atmosphere low because it was hot in there and empty. It’s worth a try, stop by and see what you think!

This is the worst "Korean " restaurant I've ever been to. Starting with the limited menu, mixed with Chinese &Japanese foods. It is WAY over priced for the galbi(9 pieces for $45). No traditional side dishes, instead we were offered "complimentary " side dish which there was no kimchi insight... seating booth wasn't bad but too many tvs surround you. I will not recommend this place to anyone especially if your looking for real Korean food. I spent over $150 for a family of 6 and will be stopping somewhere else for more food because the portions were ridiculously small for the high prices. Save your time and $. Also, the waiter doesn't have a clue what certain items are in the menu, such as the "sweet potato noodle" the guy had no clue what it was called in Korean or what type of noodles they were and compared it to yaki soba...

I had the beef bulgogi with fried rice for a weekday lunch. It was served on a fajita style plate that continued to overcook the sauce and meat to the point that it concentrated into an overly salty sludge at the bottom by the time the food was cool enough to eat. It also burned me multiple times despite me being careful. Also the staff behind the sushi style bar were playing on their phones in front of customers, which was even worse since there was nobody at the front to accept regular customers while the lady up front was running the special program for the Signature School students. The cost was over 20 bucks, and they make you pay extra if you pay with your card instead of cash.

This is an interesting place off main in Evansville. I'm glad we have something like this here. My first visit was pretty good. The atmosphere is enjoyable. They have TV's in the booths playing k-pop, the room is slightly darkened and decorated well. The staff was attentive and went out of their way to make sure we were set up. The meal came out fast, which was unexpected, but not unwelcome. Our group tried several items- the bulgogi, the bibimbop and the beef bowl. They were all decent- we enjoyed them. I thought the fried rice was ok, nothing special. We also got a few sushi rolls, which also came out super fast. I think the rainbow roll was the best. The sushi was also ok, I've had better here in town, but it was enjoyable. We also tried a little soju, which was a specialty alcohol. If you haven't tried any I recommend it, it was the best part of the night. The drinks are imported and infused with different fruit flavors- we liked apple and mango best. Don't be fooled by the flavor, there's plenty of vodka in the drink! Thank you for the good experience, we will be back.

You reviewers need to give restaurant owners a break. Of course they've raised their prices. Have you visited a grocery store lately? Costs are through the roof and that's just the food part. Don't even get me started on operating costs...

This is a great Korean restaurant and I'm happy we have one here in Evansville. The food is very good and the atmosphere is fantastic. My wife and I especially enjoy the Kpop music in each booth. Makes for a very enjoyable and unique experience.

Gangnam was my first time eating Korean cuisine, so I was looking forward to it. The restaurant had trendy ambiance with an Asian flair. Each booth had its own TV, playing the current K-Pop hits. The owner was friendly and the establishment's staff was inclusive. That being said, the overall experience was just okay. The meat was over-done, the table was dirty, and there was a mess of wires hanging down into the booth. I'll give the place another chance next time I'm downtown and see how it goes.

Never had Korean BBQ before. Some friends took us to this place while we were in town for a tennis tournament. I got the Yakisoba noodles with beef. Literally one of the best dishes I have EVER had!!!! Notice I didn't say best Korean or Asian (I was told Yakisoba is actually a Japanese dish,) but one of best dishes across all food genres! The noodles were cooked to perfection, vegetables crisp and flavorful, beef some of the most tender I've ever had but also seared beautifully... but the best part was the sauce which included a hot chili oil that was "next-level!" Once I came home I immediately found a local place that served Yakisoba noodles. Not even close.... So I guess the only thing I didn't like about Gangnam was that it is three hours away from where I live in St. Louis (but I guess I can't really hold that against them :)

I used to talk this place up to my friends as best food in town - but after yesterday's visit, I'm not sure I can any more. The prices have increased and the portion sizes are dramatically smaller. Pictured are bulgogi dishes from May 2021 (served on the sizzling hot cow skillet) and yesterday.

When that $18.99 plate hit the table, I was shocked to see what appeared to be a half sized portion compared to the previous visits (which I believe only cost $15.99). Also, I'd much rather be served the hot skillet than a cold plate. I used to let my rice cook a little on the skillet as I ate so it would get crispy on the edges.

Don't get me wrong, the food was still delicious. But I no longer feel I'm getting a good value or presentation for the price. $19 is a steep price for that much food. We spent over $60 for the three on my ticket, including a child, and we all drank water and had no apps or desserts.

Also, 2 of the people I was with did not get the meat they asked for on their bibimbap and rice dishes. Granted they didn't charge us for it, so we let it slide.

I'm not sure I'm going to be recommending Gangnam to people any longer like I used to. Staff was still friendly as always though, and I like the environment.

I've loved this restaurant since it opened. Incredible Korean fare, and I've compared it to top notch Korean restaurants in DC and Seattle. I'll always come back.

This is maybe one of the most overpriced restaurants I've experienced. If you don't eat sushi, which I don't, the selection is anemic. The entrees were small and only came with a side of rice. The food tasted fine, which is what saved this from a one star review. I know why we were the only people there. I won't return.

I understand that everything is getting more expensive for everyone and how it impacts small businesses. But these prices are highway robbery. I got the beef bimbimbap and the portion was barely enough to fill me up. Food is good, but not $22 a person good. I could’ve went out and got a steak dinner for a few dollars more.

I'm sure it's good, but I'm not sure why they had the open sign lit when they weren't taking customers. Seemed to have plenty of seats for a "full house".

Might try again soon just the same

Ordered delivery from here while are visiting. My bibimbop was good, though the egg was cooked extra hard. My partner's sweet potato noodles were in his words "like eating rubber bands" and the entire dish was way too salty. $20 for a wasted meal that was inedible. Only giving two because mine was kind of ok.

EDITING my review to raise from 4 to 5 stars, as promised below!

4/22/2022 update: if you ha ent had their wings, you don't know what you're missing! Just had them with a friend, along with the beef bibimpap and, WOW!!!!!!

Just took my boss to lunch there, and even though they were short staffed, Sara jumped right in and provided great service with a smile in a timely fashion. Great local eats!!!!

Original review:
These folks are great! I feel like they're still getting their legs under them in speed of service, but it is definitely improving! The folks are nice and the food is OUTSTANDING!

Once service is a bit speedier, I'd be happy to revise up to 5 stars from 4. Normally slow service would drive this score lower from me, but the people are so great and the food so amazing that it makes up for it! Check it out!

My husband and I LOVE it here. We took my brother for his birthday, along with some friends, who had never been before. They loved the whole experience. I know we were probably loudly laughing a lot, but we were having such a good time. The owner came over and was so nice. Our server was AMAZING. She freaking killed it. The food here is some of the most unique, best food I have ever had. Gangnam does not get enough credit and love in this world! Thank you for doing what you do and for letting us have Wagyu that night!!

This was my first time at this restaurant and I was very happy with it. The service was superior, I enjoyed the privacy of each booth and the fact that they had videos to entertain you with in case there was no conversation I suppose LOL. That is probably one of the friendliest, best foods and people I've ever seen.

I really enjoyed the food here. The sushi is great and the main entree bowls were so good. The service however was not great. They forgot half our order multiple times and never apologized. Very very slow and inattentive. Would highly recommend going here for the food but just know you’re going to be waiting awhile for it and that you might not get everything you ordered.

Used to eat here often but haven’t had a chance for over a year. Brought my bf in after hyping up the food and was more than a little disappointed.

They had redone the menus, removing all the Korean names and translating everything into English. Kind of makes you question the food’s authenticity when you order “Soon Tofu Jigae” as “Tofu Soup”.

My bf ordered ramyun (or ramen as its now called) at my suggestion and was very disappointed. The red chili broth was replaced with a mild miso based soup and the egg he ordered was fried and cut into strips placed on top instead of cooked in the soup like they used to.

All and all not worth the money and probably won’t be back anytime soon.

Average food at a high price. Kimchi fried rice was suppose to have stir fried vegetables. The only vegetable I saw was the Kimchi and cost $2 more to have the Kimchi in it for a total of $14.99. Ridiculous. We paid an extra $4 to add shrimp. It looked like 3 shrimp cut into pieces. The rice was fair at best. The California roll was just okay too. On the flip side it is a cool looking place and our server was nice.

OK... Atmosphere and customer service I got seemed five star to me. I ordered the chicken bulgogi and took it to go. I thought the restaurant was really beautiful and charming and in a pretty little area of town.

The bulgogi was really good. I got it with white rice. I ordered mild and I'd say it came in just slightly above medium heat on a salsa scale with mild being Pico de Gallo and medium adding a couple of jalapeños. This was definitely hotter than chips and medium salsa you would order at a Mexican place. I know it's strange to reference a Mexican place at a Korean restaurant, but Korean restaurants are hard to find, so I thought the Mexican restaurant reference might help if you've never eaten Korean before. As for me, I love Korean food and the bulgogi was hotter than the usual bulgogi and hotter than ttoekkoboki, if you've ever had that. But it wasn't as hot as Korean food can go. If you like mild food, you might find it just a bit spicier than you normally like. Definitely hotter than Pico de gallo.

Ok...so why I'm giving it four stars instead of five... To be completely frank, I don't believe Korean food is truly Korean food unless you get the sides with it too... at least some Kimchi. A side of Kimchi was roughly $7 here and the side dishes were $10. With an already high price for the bulgogi, I didn't want to fork out another $7 for what I felt should have been included already... So I skipped it. And it just didn't feel like a Korean dish without some sides. To me, the price was higher than just the chicken and rice I got was worth. It's worth it if you stay and enjoy the atmosphere, I suppose, but since I took it to go, I couldn't help but wish they'd been at least a little more generous for the price I paid and at least given me a small serving of Kimchi. Other than that, I will most likely go back next time I'm in town.

I've enjoyed the food and service at Gangnam since i discovered them recently. The inside looks like a nightclub. This is not where i would go to recharge my mind in thought due to the number of TV's. Still, highly recommended.

I used to call this place one of my favorite restruants but not anymore. I decided on coming here for a late lunch and that was a big mistake. The menus were handed to us and everything has changed. The dishes on the menu no longer have their Korean names. I.e Japchae is listed Sweet Potato noodles. It made it very hard for me to figure out what I wanted. The next thing I had noticed was the price increase. I.e Egg Rolls that were around 5 dollars are now 8. Everything has went up significantly. I spent 26 dollars on a plate of chicken Japchae and 2 drinks! I ended up ordering only a drink and no food at all because I couldn't justify spending another 20+ dollars for my own meal ontop of that 26. I also didn't like they took away the kpop music videos and put on the slow sleepy kpop songs on a music like player on the tvs. The atmosphere was lacking energy. They also charge you a proccessing fee on your debit card. Then to make matters worse my sister had egg shells in her omo rice and had to show the waitress her spit out food just to prove it. I feel upset because if I want Korean food I have no choice but to go here since we have no other Korean places here in Evansville. I don't know that I will come back here. It is so disappointing.

The food here is a great! However, they never let customers know if the restaurant is closed. I ordered online and it gave me a pickup time. When I arrived to get the food, there was a sign on the restaurant saying that they were closed due to a family event. Now I completely understand having an emergency and needing to close down but if they do, they should post on social media and close down their online ordering options. I had to call the credit card company to cancel the order. This is not the first time this has happened. This is my second time coming downtown and seeing the restaurant closed without anything on social media.

I love the food and the servers are great when you go in. However, I feel like they lack letting their customers know what days they are open.

Thanks for leaving a message. I hope the family gets better soon!

We absolutely love Gangnam! It’s definitely a fun place to have great food and drinks with family and friends! The owner, chef, and staff, have all been welcoming every time we’ve had the pleasure of dining. We have found even when getting it delivered through Grubhub the food has been consistent. I’ve decided to post this review due to the fact that I’ve tried multiple to order through Grubhub and noticed it’s been listed as closed. And when trying to call directly there was no answer which is highly unusual. I became nervous as we’ve had several restaurants close due to the pandemic and decided to drive by. I took a couple of pictures of the handwritten sign left on their front door hoping it helps anyone else who may be curious as to why they’ve been closed as I have not seen this message posted on their website or social media and not sure when they will reopen. Hope the Gangnam family enjoys their vacation and can’t wait until you get back to have some delicious food!
