This review is only based on their Happy Hour menu. Went to the St. Charles location on a Friday . They also have So. Barrington and Burr Ridge locations.

We sat in the bar for Happy Hour (Mon-Fri 3-6) and it was not too crowded at 430pm.

They offer wines for 4.00,16oz Sapporo Draft for 3.00..Yes 3.00! As well as a selection of craft cocktails for 8.00.

The Happy Hour food menu consists of rolls,lettuce wraps,Tempura Shrimp and a few more items. Prices are super reasonable .

We had the Chicken Lettuce Wraps which were very good but would have liked more sauce. I guess we could have asked for a small cup of extra sauce so our mistake.

The Yakitori Beef was juicy and tender glazed with a teriyaki sauce.

My favorite was the Las Vegas roll..a panko crusted roll with a crab mix,cream cheese and jalapeno topped with a spicy seafood mix and tempura flakes drizzled with spicy mayo and unagi sauce. Fantastic and only 10.00!

If you can make it to Happy Hour,give them a try..you will not be disappointed.

Spicy Jalapeño margarita and the smoked old fashion were so good!! Also had the Dynamite Shrimp & Tuna Tartare appetizers along with the St. Charles roll, Black Widow roll and Orange Chicken w/ Fried rice. Ordered way too much but everything was awesome and leftovers the next day was too!

We went for Happy Hour and the food was very good! Many Happy Hours offer lower grade/fried food so we were very pleased. We had sushi, poke and tofu lettuce wrap. The jalapeno lime margarita was good too!

Wok n Fire was a nice experience with my wife. Is it a restaurant I want to come back to in the near future? Maybe, there was nothing 🤔 that left an impression that I have to come back. The drinks at the bar were pretty good and we'll mixed. The food was good **But please stay away from the coconut Shrimp yuck 🤮 😫 horrible the breading and the mashed up shrimp was disgusting could not eat it. Besides that, the restaurant experience was that bad.

But, the amount of money spent at Wok n Fire I would have preferred to spend at Ruth Chris, Bob Chin's, Smokey Bones, Longhorn or at a dope Hibachi restaurant.

First time going to Wok and fire, the place itself is cute inside. The food was good, at least my food was, I got sushi and it was delicious. My daughter got chicken fried rice and that was good. For the appetizer we got fried calamari and it did not disappoint. Only thing that was disappointing was my husbands meal, he ordered what was supposed to be a steak dinner based on a picture on the menu but what he got was a steak in a sauce with peppers and onions but the sauce was too much and did not match with the picture and what he thought he ordered. Lastly the bathroom vibe is cool, they have like a red light effect which is cute for bathroom selfies.

Staff were so friendly.
Our waitress Carlos was phenomenal!!!!
Definitely ask for him if you are planning to stop in for dinner.
He always made sure we were taken care of and was cracking jokes with us all night.
The other severs were also very pleasant and checking in with us as well.

The fresh blue fin was melt in your mouth as described. The soup was great. If I had any illness coming up, that soup healed me ahead of time! Nice atmosphere and staff. Would definitely eat there again.

I went to Wok N Fire today for my daughter’s birthday with my family. The food and drinks were excellent. The service was top notch and Carlos C. was an outstanding waiter and very friendly. I am never disappointed with this restaurant and I would highly recommend it for food and fun.

Food is extremely overpriced for the quality and serving sizes. We didn’t get served food until an hour and a half after being seated at our table. It’s extremely loud and crowded. $14 for 6 TINY, and I mean MINISCULE, crabrangoons should be a crime. Panda Express has better food and service

Fun vibe, good music, excellent service. Carlos, our server, was outstanding. But the food, meh - my Thai beef salad, for $21, contained a minute quantity of beef. The lettuce was soaked in a distinctly un Thai sauce that was mostly just hot. My side of fried rice was uninteresting and cool - probably cooked well in advance in large quantities. The wine I got, a cab, was delightful. And Carlos was a fun and genuinely nice guy.

The food was just ok. There is nothing special to talk about. The server didn't even listen when we said what we wanted. We kept having to reat ourselves. The pad thai was good but the tuna tartar was very bland. The pho was just ok. Kinda disappointed in our experience.

Came here as a party of 3. We were sitting for about 15 minutes before our server even acknowledged us and said she would be right with us. We ordered 2 beers, 2 Shirley temples, and a Diet Coke which took another 15 minutes to get to the table. The shirley temples were made with club soda instead of sprite, and instead of saying they were out of sprite, they made it with club soda thinking we wouldn’t notice? We ordered appetizers and entrees when the drinks came, miso soup and crab rangoons. The miso soup came in minutes, and the crab rangoons took another 15 minutes. When ordering the entrees, I ordered the St. Charles rolls and asked for fresh jalapeños to be added. Our server said “We are too busy to do any modifications to the food, I can only put it on the side”. Like what!? Ive never been told that before anywhere. We were sitting for about an hour and a half before our entrees made it to the table.

First I will start with, I eat at this restaurant every week sometimes twice a week and their service is exceptional. Up until today when a situation got real. We ordered our usual and some edamame THROUGH DOOR DASH.... Mind you door dash is senseless in giving people there money back and useless when it comes to the following situation as was wok n fires manager April and owner Diana. On our edamame. Was a worm A WORM. Mind you the person that was eating it is ill and if she gets sick from eating worms it could be life threatening. They lost a valuable client and gained a call to oshas health department and kane county's health department which the owner was clear to let me know they were just out last week, makes me wonder why? April was kind as could be but continued to laugh when this situation was nothin more than serious. The lack of empathy and apology had me distraught. I will not be returning and I'll be sure to share with other to avoid this place as well.

UPDATE: myself and my other partner that have eaten said food (before finding worm) are both ill bodied and not well. THIS IS NOT OKAY.

I wasn’t going to add a review but after seeing similar service reviews I thought I’d share.

My husband ordered take out from this location and on his way the car broke down. So I decided to give a courtesy call to let them know no one was going to be there to pick it up. The original women I talked with was very nice and empathetic. She said she’d talk to her manager. I didn’t call looking for my money back or anything, originally just a courtesy call.

I waited a few minutes and someone picked up the phone “yeah?” I waited a few seconds for an actual greeting but then they continued with “yeah what do you want?” I told the manager again what happened and they told me “there’s nothing we are going to do the food was already made”. Again that I was just calling as a courtesy to let them know no one was picking it up, of course it would have been 5 stars for helping a paying customer but I understand the food was made the money was lost. I’m more upset about the lack of customer service and the cold shoulder from the manager, especially since I wasn’t asking for any type of compensation since it was a bad luck incident. Definitely won’t be ordering from this location again.

We had a very disappointing experience with our last take-out order from this Wok-n-Fire on 6/11/24. Having been here a few times before and never encountering any issues, this visit was particularly disheartening. The food was served cold, tasted old, and was definitely not worth the price.

- Carb Rangoon was hard and burnt. Very little crab meat in it.
- The calamari was cold and tasted chewy/old
- The sesame chicken was rubbery and the rice was hard
- French fries with kid's meal were soggy and undercooked.

We left a message for the manager and filled out the contact form on their website, but we never heard back. The lack of response just adds to the poor service.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and paid top dollar for food thinking it would be an exceptional meal. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. It's frustrating to see the quality decline so much. We won't be coming back, and can NOT recommend this place to anyone anymore.

6/14: If I could give zero stars I would. My family and I went out to celebrate a birthday and most of us ordered the teriyaki steak with fried rice. The steak was absolutely disgusting and the teriyaki sauce was even worse. We also ordered the St Charles roll and crab rangoons which were semi warm and also terrible. The Rangoons barely had any filling and were mostly the crispy wonton. I can't believe this garbage food costed $250+ for six people considering how awful the food was. There's a reason why I see this place barely getting any business anymore (I live down the street and pass it by multiple times per week). Rest assured, I'll never visit this place again... What a shame because the original Wok N Fire in downtown St Charles was actually good 6+ years ago. I don't know what happened to this place... 6/15 update: My nephew, wife, mom, dad, and brother in law are all SICK today (started last night) with symptoms of food poisoning/contamination. This place is absolutely horrible. Hopefully the Kane County Health Department performs an inspection of this restaurant. I've seen other reviews complaining of feeling sick as well after eating at this restaurant. Close this location and attempt to save whatever reputation you have left...

I just want to say I’m baffled by this whole situation…. Let me start- I ordered take out from Wok n Fire St Charles, like we always do, and it was a very busy day so when we finally got our order we were told it was fine and didn’t have to pay the bill. We thought nothing of it since we always go and know a lot of the workers we thought since it took long they took care of it. A couple weeks later we get a text from a worker (who I later found out was the owner). Turns out the costumer after us got charged twice for our order and theirs. Our mistake? No. What’s concerning is how someone goes out of their way to text and CALL multiple times saying very unprofessional stuff. Again, not our mistake and we had no problem paying the bill BUT we were told it was fine. The owner literally texted us saying if “we’re too broke to pay just say that,” since the person who got charged twice disputed the charge. After explaining to the owner, via text, that that wasn’t our card and what we were told, he continued to say very unprofessional stuff via text. We ended up just going in and paying, we really didn’t have to since it wasn’t our mistake, but the fact that the own owner kept texting us even after it was their own mistake not ours was what was concerning to me. As a regular costumer, it was very disappointing to know this is their customer service.

Great food! Really great vegan options as well. The drinks are fantastic. Service is quick and extremely friendly. April, the manager, was very welcoming and kind when we came in. Desare, our server, was very sweet and funny! The vibe of the place is really cool. Lots of space for bigger parties. Definitely stop by the Wheaton location!!

Food was phenomenal. We had the dumplings and calamari, which were both beautifully prepared. Our Server Carlos gave us some history of the restaurant which was both very interesting and entertaining. We then ordered the spider and inky rolls. I accompanied my rolls with a Paloma, which is one of the best Palomas I’ve had in a long while. All in all, my wife and I will be returning for more. A wonderful experience all around.

Really enjoyed this place a great atmosphere, very helpful and kind wait staff and even the owner came to our table to check on us. Food was fantastic very full of flavor and was a feast for the eyes as well. I can’t wait to go back and try more menu items including the sake selection. As a 23 year old I have been to plenty of restaurants on my own with my girlfriend. I hate to say it, but I have never been treated the way I have been tonight.
Let’s just start off with the reservation.
It was supposed to be at 7:15, we got there 5 minutes before and we were told they have a little bit of a wait. After 25 minutes I ask the hostess when our table would be ready, and she told us that she gave our table up to another couple!!!!!!
Making us wait another 20 minutes.

Then, When we ordered our drinks, they tasted like piss.

We ordered all our food at once, thinking that we would get it faster but that’s not what happened.

We waited about a hour and a half before we were told our food was about to be out.
30 mins after that I asked when the food would be ready and they said the same answer but with a rude tone of voice.

After about 2 1/2 hours of waiting for our food. I went up to our waitress and told her nicely if we can just have our food to go. She then brought our food out within seconds.

We had to spend our Valentine’s Date eating at home!!!! And the food was even messed up!!!!!!

We paid full price for 4 rolls with fried rice
When we got home our sushi tasted like it was sitting for a while, and just was not good. We got an order of spicy California rolls, and it looks like they were running out of the sauce they put on top because there was barely any sauce on our SPICY California rolls.
And to top it off, we got cold fried rice

This is not the first time I have been treated like this at this location. The last time my girlfriend and I were there, we had a long wait. Keep in mind the last time we had a long wait at Wok N Fire in St Charles, it was a normal Saturday night, not a day like Valentine’s Day. I understand today is Valentine’s Day, but at least respect me and my time.

Chicken Teriyaki was very dry and tough to eat. Teriyaki sauce was poured over cooked chicken and not glazed or cooked with the chicken. Vegetables were raw. Vegetable fried rice was dry and extremely bland, terrible.

Tom Yum Goong soup was terrible also. Description from menu "Spicy hot and sour soup with shrimp, mushrooms, and onions".
It was broth with vegetables and shrimp. Give me a break. Hideous!!!

Vegetable spring rolls were OK but nothing special.

We went to the old St. Charles location where the food was 5 Stars. This was maybe 1 Star

We drove an hour to go here and were surprised they moved from the downtown area. There was only one other table that had people there. I don't see them being open much longer.

Take my advice and skip this place, it was a very big letdown.

Service was excellent - food was delicious (tried the Dragon Roll and the Wok N Roll and my partner got Steak Fried Rice).

Our server Jessica was a delight, hospitable and attentive. Shoutout as well to the manager Carlos, he and the rest of the staff make a concentrated effort to make you feel welcome. Good vibes all around :) will definitely be back!

Very welcoming! The bar staff immediately took my drink order. He gave me some recommendations but all were seafood which is not my thing. He then suggested other options as I said I wasn't big o. Seafood. I got what he recommended but slightly disappointed in the quality of steak. Flavor was there though! I dipped my veggies in that juice and it was great! If the steak was a little bit bigger, I think it would do well!

Our group of three caught Happy Hour on a Monday and the Sushi was excellent. We enjoyed edamame, dumplings, and lettuce wraps for appetizers, all of which were delicious. The cocktails were good as well. Service was attentive, the food was fresh and the atmosphere was relaxed with large screens showing sights and scenes of travel in Asia with relaxing music accompanying the video.

The fresh blue fin was melt in your mouth as described. The soup was great. If I had any illness coming up, that soup healed me ahead of time! Nice atmosphere and staff. Would definitely eat there again.

We ordered an appetizer crab avacado ball. It came with fried wontons. 4. I asked for more, she advised me that it would be an order of wontons i would have to pay for. I said okay, thinking it would be a basket. She brought 3 wontons. The appetizer was delicious. The rest of the food was just okay. No wonder the place was empty.

I wish I could give them 0 star! Very bad service. I took my parents to their place last Friday. I didn’t make a reservation because I figured it was early. So maybe we can just grab a table there. When we got there there were not too many people and quite a few empty tables. So we thought we were in luck. There were 3 Service people at the counter. One was helping with a costumer. The other 2 were just standing there doing nothing. They saw us walking in but were just looking at us without offering any help. They let us waiting for at least five minutes till more people coming in and finally one guy said “ can I help you? “ we said we needed a table. And they told us we had to wait at least 30 minutes. They were not helpful and rude. They could just tell us when we first got in! Very bad service!

Food was not good. Everything tasted as if it had been sitting out for a while, not fresh tasting at all. The rainbow roll smelled so fishy, it ruined my appetite. No one was there to greet us when we came in, waited a while until a server had to come up and ask if I had been helped. Overall, not worth the money they charge and I will not be ordering from this location in the future.

This is a yummy fresh food option. The menu offers so many choices. The kids menu is a typical kid menu, so if your kiddo isn’t in to sushi they can still order chicken fingers.
Charlie was a fantastic waiter. He was so patient with our elderly guests who struggled trying to decide what to order. He was so respectful to our elders and helpful with their orders. The vibe here is definitely different from the vibe of the previous location downtown St. Charles. Screens on every wall. The bathroom has really cool faucets too. Everything was really clean. Overall, it was a nice meal with our out-of-town relatives.

Food is not good. 2 rolls, ramen, and fried rice.
Both rolls has slimy rice, slightly warm. Avocado was mushy and warm. Ick. Really bad sushi.
Ramen had an odd sour taste. And noodles were so soft they were like mush.
Fried rice was the best. But had a bitter aftertaste. Broccoli bits maybe?

The small amount of food also took over an hour to arrive. And the restaurant was maybe 1/3 full? Most tables were waiting on food. Didn’t make sense.
But the servers were nice.

I’ll give the atmosphere 5 stars. It was nice inside.
But I felt less nice after waiting so long…for disappointing food.
Wouldn’t want to go back.

Ordered a few different dishes and some were unbearably sweet others ok. Sushi was subpar. No one in our group of 8 seemed to be impressed by any of the dishes. Some were just too sweet to enjoy at all.

A truly luxurious atmosphere fit for any celebration! Wok n Fire’s sushi centric, Asian inspired menu is full of delectable bites from vegan fried rice to authentic sashimi.

Our server and his shadow worker were eager to ensure my party had all their needs taken care of. We were really living large thanks to the grassy patio and scenic views offered via the televisions.

The music, oh the music, you will be transported into another world. It was like a miniature rave rivaling any other. Overall a 10/10 experience and looking forward my next visit.

Do not eat here. There are way better sushi options in the area that are not only more affordable but will give you actual quality food. The sushi is well below subpar, could probably find better sushi at your grocery store. Ordered the caterpillar and the fantasy roll, they were both flavorless and my eel had pinbones from not being properly cleaned. Got one of the pinbones stuck in my throat. Will not be going back here ever again.

We've been going to Wok N Fire for over 10 years and finally made it to the new location. It was not great. We went for Father's Day/daughter's bday as we have every year prior and were so excited to see the new place. It was empty, service was bad, food was below average, orders were wrong and portions seemed less than half of what they used to be. We were sad. At the end of the meal, our server handed us the credit card machine and stared at me while I determined her tip, which was weird and don't remember it being like that before. It was super uncomfortable. The whole vibe was off and not pleasant. It seemed as though they were still trying to figure out how to run the restaurant even though they've been there for a while now. A decade of dining with them and sadly, we won't return.

Terrible customer service. Food quantity was incredibly deceptive. We were told that the vegan shrimp was big. They were very tiny and expensive. The sauce was unbelievably sweet for the vegan orders. When complaining to Luz the manager, she was dismissive, rude and defensive and ignorant. She didn't even apologize for the meal we couldn't even eat because it was so sweet. We have been going to wok n fire since 2013 with no problems. Consider getting a new manager for this restaurant.

Feng shui of this place is lacking. Food was as good as other locations, which is why this review rec’d 3 stars, but the place is dead. They were cleaning the floors by the tables with lysol more than an hour before closing. Not appetizing and most likely done because the place is regularly empty. Hope they can figure out how to make it feel comfortable to sit inside the place soon.

The sushi rolls were flavorful and the fried rice was very good. Our server was amazing, and very helpful. The prices were cheap for the good food. Despite all this though, I found the atmosphere of the restaurant was off. From strangely remixed music, to a massive dining area with close to no one in it, this restaurant’s location is not to it’s strength for the atmosphere it wants to provide. I do recommend Wok n’ Fire, but I liked the old location much better.

Restaurant was empty, and our server was beyond inattentive. We had to ask for water each time he came over, which was 3 times total. The coconut shrimp was freezer burned and flavorless. We mentioned it, and never heard a word back. My mom ordered the chicken lettuce wrap appetizer for her meal, the noodles were overcooked and she barely got any lettuce. She asked for more lettuce and was charged extra for it. Sushi was fine, but he didn't bring enough plates or tell us what each roll was, leaving us to guess. As longtime customers of the old St Charles wok n fire and the Barrington location, we are beyond frustrated and disappointed. Will not be back to this location.

I’ve been to this location twice. The first time was on a normal day and it was amazing. The second time was the complete opposite. It literally took over an hour for our food to come. And we didn’t order anything significant — just rice, sushi, and chicken. We noticed people that got seated after us get their food (large and multiple platters), eat and leave before we even got our food. The server was extremely apologetic but the accommodation was very minuscule compared to the inconvenience. We usually dine at restaurants for Mother’s Day, this was a first where we had to wait this long for food. Given our experiences, this place is best gone to for regular occasions — not for special days.

Went for the Mother's Day special, we arrived at 3:55pm and had reservations at 4pm. When asking about the special the waiter knew nothing and called the manager. When she came she mentioned that they stopped at 4pm. Mind you, when we walked in, there was no sign of the buffet, so they definitely closed before then if they at all had it.

The manager apologized and promised to provide a discount were we to order off the regular menu. We did so and ordered the sushi platter and a drink for each person at the table. We were discounted 1 drink and an iced tea....

Food was great, but ruined the occasion by bait and switching the available specials. If you are going to go to Wok n Fire Special, do call ahead to ensure they're honoring whatever promotion they're advertising.

Went at an off time and the place was empty but the atmosphere was great. Our server was attentive. We had a question about the menu, kids were looking for something different and they were willing to make something special… within reason. I think it was the owner who came out to speak with us, extremely nice. They ended up starting some food based on our inquiry but didn’t charge us for it since we didn’t order it. All in all, I’d definitely go here again as it has the best of all: food, service, and atmosphere.

3 Stars was a gift as the visit was very uninspiring. We used to visit Wok n Fire often when it was in the downtown St Charles location and loved it. We were happy to hear that it was opening again in a different location. We went for lunch yesterday. We were seated quickly, but the place seemed to be very understaffed. We had to wait a very long time for our food while listening to music that was in no way conducive to patiently waiting and enjoying the atmosphere - appropriate for a bar setting, not lunch. The server did not keep our drinks full. When we finally got our food, it was so tasteless. We ordered a tiger roll which would have been better served before our meal, instead of with it.

Based on mediocre service, small serving sizes and underwhelming taste, and the long wait, I cannot imagine that we will ever go back again. The prices we paid were way too high for the lunch we were served. I think we will look for an Asian restaurant that has good flavorful food, instead of this Wok n Fire.

Update - 2 stars more appropriate. a manager reached out and invited us back right after this original review posted. We were excited to go back and be treated to a lunch, but there was never any follow through from manager after that. So we never went back and don’t consider any Wok n Fire location as a viable option for a meal. Sad turn of events!
