Ordered take out, really good food, good amount of spiciness to the dips and rolls that said spicy, enjoyed my rolls and crab puffs

My order consisted of 2 Salmon Rolls and 1 Pink Godzilla Roll. Overall, the order was quite simple. However, I found that all the sushi rolls were very small. When I ate them, they tasted as though they had been sitting out all day, even the "Pink Godzilla Roll". I was very dissatisfied with the entire experience and hope they make improvements soon. 🤞

All yum, no frills. But you get what you pay for. The food was great. Go in with the right mindset. To eat everything you like! But you only get three rounds. Which honestly is perfect no one needs to eat more than that! The beer is not expensive and the whole experience is totally worth it!

Not bad sushi, but great when you factor in the price and the options you get. The jalapeno spicy tuna was my favorite roll. Loved the optional side dishes like the fried chicken, gyoza and bulgogi.

I'd go back.

Update: I went back and it was delicious so bumped them up one star!

My first time here, the all you can eat regular is 16.99 you do get charged an automatic 18% gratituity charge regardless of if you do all you can eat.It applies to any orders. The all you can eat is basically three rounds. You can't have more than three rolls, the service was really good, they were very attentive. Unfortunately, when you ask for this sweet potato roll, I receive minds cold, which made it hard to chew. But unfortunately, anything that you waste, you get charged for it was very underwhelming, their eel roll was actually very good. They're very flavorful. It was actually warm and delicious. The flavors were right. There wasn't any bones.Sometimes eel kimber's hit a mess depending on who makes it, but that was a hit. The potato coquette, even though it says two pieces, it's actually one piece cut to make it two pieces, so it's really not two pieces, it's one piece cut in half. The golden roll is actually very delicious, very flavorful. It was the chef special yesterday. Bulgogi was actually very good. Not too salty, not too sweet. It was just right, the chicken teriyaki was okay. The flavors were a little bit watered down. I only did 2 rounds just to see, I didn't do a third round.
So I would recommend the golden roll. That was very delicious. Though unfortunately the experience with the food.I will not go back again. I have been to all you can eat sushi restaurants, and unfortunately, this one.
As far as the all you can eat, I wouldn't do it again. And that's just something personal for me. Though if you do go, the golden roll is very delicious. The eel roll is very delicious. The croquette is actually delicious. Unfortunately, when it says two pieces, it's not. It's one piece, but other than that.

The food was good but the service was terrible. The guy gave us the wrong drink. Then he forgot to give the Chopsticks with the food. We have to ask for it. For 5 people he gave just 3 glass of water. He was not explaining anything we asked him about the food. In the end we end up giving a small tip as the behavior and service was so terrible. He started arguing why the tip is less.

I ordered out and had put a note on my order explaining that I’ve never had sushi before, that I’m trying it for the first time, and asked if they could please label all the items.

Not only did they label all of the items, but they put a note saying I could call them if I had any questions and they drew me faces on all of the boxes 😂.

The service was above and beyond any expectations! I would highly highly recommend this restaurant the people and the service is beyond amazing.

I unfortunately didn’t really like the food, but that’s not on them. I might just not be a sushi person or I didn’t eat it properly. I mostly just ate them plain. I still ate almost all of it out of appreciation. I did like the shrimp (Ebi), thank you again for all the labels, and would recommend that. I might still try it again in person so it’s fresher and maybe get pointers so I know I’m eating it properly.

TL;DR: The restaurant is amazing and their service is impeccable. Please give them a try!

We came for the all you can eat sushi. The menu and price were very reasonable- the reason we came in. Delicious rolls! Excellent and fast service, despite it being late at night. We did find a hair in our food, to which the staff apologized graciously. A well handled situation.

I did my first review 4 years ago, and I gave it 5 stats.
Unfortunately, today, in 2024, I'm disappointed that the quality has gone down a lot. I haven't eaten here in a couple of months and tried today for lunch again. I don't think I will be back again anytime soon. This restaurant is sadly not was it was anymore.

One of the good all you can eat places with enjoyable sushi for a reasonable price. I love how the spicy tuna and California roll taste. I tried for the first time the fried California roll and is not that bad. The only thing I didn't like was the mustard sauce. Other than that, this is now our favorite place to go and have sushi. The team is always very nice to us (they also know us already lol) there is also a cash back groupon that you should check it out. I forgot to mention that the fried rice tastes delicious. We love that it has a unique taste compared to other places.

Just remember, someone who has had a bad experience is always bound to leave a bad review, this place rocks, for like 23 bucks you can get all you can eat sushi, which in this day and age is amazing service sometimes is a little slow but nothing out of this world, i wouldnt call it an every day thing but its pretty great for special occasions. Also i would not reccomend getting the individual orders, my friends did that in the past and were underwhelmed, i have never had a bad time here though

Hello, previously, I went to the restaurant, they treated me very well but today since I arrived with my family, the attitude of the waiter (Indian) was disastrous, unpleasant, the first thing he told me was that they would charge me 18% tip, he yelled at a girl who spoke Spanish to serve us, there were 3 of us and they only gave us 1 piece of paper and 1 pencil to order the menu, then we checked all the boxes and the waiter (Indian) didn't think so, he yelled at me and yelled at the girl!!! VERY BAD ATTENTION, THERE WAS NO MANAGER, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, I PAID FOR 2 SODAS THAT WE COULD NOT EVEN DRINK BECAUSE OF THE HORRIBLE ATTITUDE!!!

I was traveling from out of town, and to end the day, I thought I would get some sushi delivered. I didnt expect the best presentation, because it needs to travel. Nevertheless, I received no soy sauce or utensils. I'm in a hotel. They didn't have any of these either. I politely called the restaurant, and brought it to the attention to the person who answered. I said, "I did not receive any utensils or soy sauce. Would it be possible for you to bring me some." To which they responded, "I'm sorry I cant do that." I know mistakes happen, but just fix it. I was polite enough to bring it to your attention. You can have a driver swing by me while they are doing another delivery, I don't know about the logistics, but it just seems inconsiderare to send food to people without utensils, and tell them essentially, good luck, when you bring it to their attention.

2 different prices for all you can eat and one person doesn’t eat nigri. So both ppl get charged the same price for it. I wanted regular dinner and my guest wanted the premium. But no it’s either both regular or both premium. That makes no sense. Lady was super rude and we walked out. Not on top of the fact that we could tell she would’ve been rude the whole time if we stayed and they have a service charge of 18% so she still would’ve gotten her tip with her horrible service. Don’t go here! Run!

We ordered “all you can eat premium” the rolls had no flavor and a terrible presentation, from the type of dish and the presentation they are rolls that you do not want to eat. Bad service but they add an automatic 18% tip to each check (we were only two people, not a party). If you have ever bought sushi at Sam's or Costco these places have better flavor and better presentation. I wouldn't return to this place.

It was the first time I went for lunch for the all you can eat sushi buffet their place looks kind of dirty and sticky the plates were kind of old and greasy but the food came out fast and the waitresses we’re getting ready to have their own lunch after I got my appetizers and they were very nice to answer my questions and tell me that must not order to much sushi if we can’t eat it all there was limit of three at a time so I just had one at a time so I don’t feel bad for ordering to much and I can’t eat everything for all you can eat they could have the atmosphere a little bit more prettier but the waitresses were very attentive and they came by often to refill my Diet Coke. Give me more ginger for my sushi my experience was not an as bad as the other reviews but the place is kind of dirty in the bathroom to but the workers are very nice

Total bust. Service was ABYSMAL. It’s almost as though a reservation/party of 10 was the worst thing that could happen to them (in otherwise empty restaurant). They simply threw menus on the table and brought a single round of drinks. No explantation, no hospitality, nothing. Food was average at best but for AYCE sushi, it is what it is. Not convinced they actually made everything we ordered and instead just made it or served what they had but it at least came out fairly quick.

I can think of better ways for my family to spend hundreds of dollars on food. Certainly will not be returning.

I ordered Bento box dinner and wanted to replace the sashimi to sushi since I do not eat sashimi, the server said she cannot do that and just to throw out the sashimi if nobody wants it...REALLY? This is how you solve the problem? Terrible!!!!!

Sushi Experience №52

This was a terrible experience. They give you food you don't actually order and the menu doesn't reflect what you actually get if it's not sushi. We weren't given the right number of dishes or chop sticks. Some of the worst service we've ever had. They also force a gratuity, and I can understand why, because you would never tip otherwise. Had to ask for drinks after the server stopped by twice already. Drinks should be the first part of any tables order. Would not recommend and will not come here again.

Visited 9 months ago

Sushi Experience №53

The sushi isn't that great! But what really pisses me off is they charge automatic gratuity on any size party. Which is ridiculous and cutting their nose off despite their face.Because when that happens, I will not give another penny so you could've gotten more money out of me.But you chose not to. And the reason why they do this is because it takes forever to get a second order. The service is so slow, So it really isn't all you can eat because you have to wait forever!

I will not go there again.

I just left here fuming mad. First the service was awesome. The girls were attentive and really polite. The food… though…. It was bland. The miso soup tasted like it was microwaved. The rolls were meh. But the reason I am mad is that when I tried to tip the girls that were working really hard they stopped me and let me know the owner keeps all the tips and the camera are watching to make sure they do not take any cash… that’s horrible and degrading . I will be reporting this to the Department of labor.

We made the mistake of staying to eat here even though once we were seated our instincts said to get up and leave. First, upon walking in it didn't feel welcoming. No greeting, I had to acknowledge them first. The two waiters/hosts looked miserable being there, looked like they just rolled out bed. On the way to the table the floor was sticky and smelled like wet dog/dirty mop. Still smelled that way at the table.

Employees again just looked miserable and moved slower than ever and it was not even busy. It was practically empty. Servers had to be constantly prompted for removal of empty dishes, refill water, place new orders for the buffet, etc.

Bad service, bad image/vibe, cleanliness questionable...I wouldn't go back. I can't imagine the manager is not aware of how they operate.

The food is mediocre. Doesn't have much flavor. Also I ordered the seaweed salad and it came slightly frozen. So that shows you it's not fresh even though they claim to have fresh food. Also was not really All you can eat because they give you a limit. So they should change their name for that. Plus they have a supposedly mandatory 18% tip. Which I refuse to pay because tipping is a privilege not a requirement. The restaurant is small and the person only has to walk like 2 ft to get the food so why would I do an 18% tip when they don't really have to do anything.

SAVE YOUR TIME AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Am I allowed to put zero stars for service??? I just went here last night and I was extremely disappointed. I was completely flabbergasted at the lack of service. We were sat down at a table, weren’t given a pen for the AYCE menu, and were not explained how the ordering worked. I wanted to order off the AYCE menu and my boyfriend wanted to order off the regular menu. Someone came by and they asked if we had any questions. I said, I need something to fill this out, and I was given a pen and I was shown how the menu worked. I filled out what I wanted for the first round, and one of the bussers came by and just took the sheet from me without asking if we wanted anything else. Literally just took the paper and walked away, we didn’t even have a moment to ask for drinks. At this point, we thought maybe someone else would come by and offer us something to drink or ask if we wanted anything else, as we still had the menu open at our table. No one came by. We didn’t even get water. The items I ordered off the AYCE menu came one at a time, over the course of half an hour, starting with one piece of salmon sushi. Several minutes later, got the potato croquette, which was described as two pieces, but was just one piece cut in half. After that, the crab puffs came out. While I liked them, they did not come with any dipping sauce. The crab puffs are the only reason the food has 2/5 star review. Before the rolls came out, when someone came to grab the plates, my boyfriend asked if he could order the bulgogi. They brought us the small AYCE serving of it. When they came to the table with it, we clarified and said we wanted the bulgogi bowl entree. The small serving was then taken back and the entree never arrived. My two sushi rolls came out on the same plate. The sushi rice had too much vinegar. The rolls seemed too soft and were almost melting in my mouth, in not a good way. By the time finished the last few pieces (because I did not want to pay extra for any leftovers), I was feeling ill. It wasn’t until someone came by to grab that plate that we stopped them and said that we had been there for over 40 minutes and no one had asked if we wanted water, no one checked in on us asking if we wanted anything else, and even when we tried to ask for the entree that my boyfriend wanted, we never got it. We paid for one AYCE meal and walked out. Would not recommend to anyone.

The food quality was very bad, no asian people working anymore which isn't bad just not authentic, the servers are teens that don't even speak or understand English, they forget about orders and I'm pretty sure the cleanliness isn't spot on because I contracted covid after I visited the restaurant and I know this for a fact because that was the only place I went outside for that day and I got very sick the next day after testing positive for covid-19. I came here often when it first opened but comparing it to when it opened to now, it feels like this place just went downhill with food quality and customer service especially with the 18% tip automatically. Just feels like a scam at this point what this restaurant is will not come to eat here ever again unless it is under new ownership and better quality food and people working there especially with the prices nowadays not worth at all.

Wow. This was by far the worst sushi I've ever had. The rolls are tiny, the rice had too much vinegar, most of the food was bland, and you are limited to 3 rolls per person for "all you can eat". Do NOT order the bulgogi. It had no flavor and no sauce besides sesame oil. It's like they only googled pictures of bulgogi and tried to replicate that. Also the potato croquette was supposed to come in 2 pieces but instead we got 1 croquette...cut in half.

We will not return food and service has gone down hill since the manager left to go to their other location. We asked about him and was told he retired to be with family.
The service is non existent and the quality of the food has dropped.

Much improved. The lunch service was great, food was wonderful. They finally got plum wine. This is our favorite place and it looks like they are back to providing good food and great service.
Sept 4, 2020 - Visited tonight and I will not return. Third time there in the last 6 weeks and no plum wine. I called before going and was told they had plum wine. I asked the young lady to double check and she said they had it. Arrived and ordered it and was told by the same girl so sorry we don't have any. I was wrong.
Service is horrible. They had four servers and still couldn't get food to the table quickly. Had to ask twice for my appetizer. Very disappointing. They were one of my favorites and now I need to find a new sushi place.

* Food is always amazing. Service is an issue lately. They need more servers.

I've eaten here many many times, normally lunch, and normally the experience was decent. I decided to try the dinner several months ago and almost all of the special items that I tried to order that weren't on the lunch menu they didn't have available(but were supposed to be). They did not offer a single concession for the fact so much of what I was paying extra for when they didnt have. The evening waitress couldn't care less either. I wrote comments on the bill, still tipped fair..likely 15% (for bad service) then I came back from the restroom(they didnt know I was still there apparently) I could here them mocking my comments. Haven't been back since.

So we’ve been to many ayce restaurants. This one disappointed us. The place is in need of a facelift. Walls dirty, paint chipped, sad atmosphere. It felt like a school cafeteria. The price for the ayce is reasonable. For what it is. Doesn’t feel like a Schaumburg restaurant. Lots of competition should make you strive to be the best. Just an overall ok experience. Much better places to have sushi. But if your on a budget this place is ok

Absolutely awful, especially for the price. THE FOOD IS NASTY! It’s also NOT all you can eat even though that’s what is advertised. They make you PAY FOR LEFTOVERS THAT YOU DONT GET TO TAKE HOME! They explained that there is a leftover charge only when I asked about it but didn’t say you don’t get to take your leftovers home! The food was terrible there were items we picked that were absolutely inedible and disgusting (don’t try the calamari!) they also charge AUTOMATIC GRATUITY 18% … no matter your party size…. Which is unfortunate for the server bc if I don’t get the choice in the first place I’m absolutely not going to give any extra but I usually tip at 25%. We ordered our first round, did the BEST we could to choke down the awful food and then asked for the bill and got charged $8! Extra for 5 pieces of uneaten avocado roll! And that’s only bc I argued that we wouldn’t pay for the food that was inedible. We will never return, and I will forever warn everyone I know not to go here! Find ANYWHERE else.

One of the worst sushi places. We ordered three different rolls but they tasted the same, instead of salmon and tuna they use canned crab meat.
Plus, I found a hair in my water. They didn’t say anything just brought me another glass…

Ordered 3 rolls and a handful of sushi. Came in two boxes. All food was piled in the corner of each box. It was disgusting. Couldn't eat it. Rolls were spilled and broken. Sauces were all mixed together. Looked like a kid had mixed thrown it together.

I ordered two appetizers which would be approximately $13 and my boyfriend got all you can eat. He ordered sushi only. He got charged for 2 all you can eat. I don’t understand why the waitress charged him like that when I said I would only be getting the appetizers. So I basically got charged for all you can eat when I didn’t even order sushi and it ended up costing me more than what the actual appetizers cost.

Based on over 1K reviews on GrubHub with an average of 4.5 stars we thought we’d give Sakura a try. The nigiri and sushi rolls were less than great but overall serviceable. What tipped the experience from unremarkable to disappointing was the salad, soup, and Rangoon. See accompanying photos…

Apparently you only need to include some dressing with lettuce to call it a salad here. Our wontons (not enough filling to adequately consider it a Crab Rangoon) didn’t come with any sauce. And our Miso soup was broth with a single small flake of seaweed.

Like I said previously, everything tasted OK, we were just disappointed in the presentation and attention to detail based on reviews. Hopefully this review saves at least one person from having their expectations broken by a lackluster meal.

Extremely slow service and it's clear that they prioritize carryout orders over dine in. We received a roll before receiving all of our appetizers. Waited about an hour afterwards without receiving literally anything and then the waiter asked and was shocked when I explained we hadn't gotten anything besides 2 rolls. Then we received hastily made sushi and the experience was so bad at that point that we just quickly ate and asked for checks despite having barely eaten at an ayce. Also, at that point, even after all this time we had not received our miso soup appetizer. We received a $2 voucher along with the check, as if that matters considering there is a REQUIRED 18% gratuity. Left without even taking the vouchers, would not recommend.

5 stars for the staff and their great service but past that this is one of the worst sushi experiences I've had. I ordered two of my favorite rolls that I've eaten countless times the spicy tuna and spicy salmon these rolls were so spicy that it left my mouth scorched for 10 minutes, this is coming from someone who has a high heat tolerance. These rolls have also left me with severe digestive issues the day after. It was like they made the rolls with Wasabi instead of tuna and salmon. I'm very disappointed and although they tried to compensate with a $10 voucher to amend I don't plan on coming back again to use it.

I had a decent experience here. There is the added 18% which is kind of nonsense. We had all you can eat sushi for a family of 4 and a kids chicken teriyaki. If I understand the menu correctly you can only order 3 rolls per person, but I'm really not sure. Had 2 kids eating with me so I didn't get to that point. Sushi was above average. More spicy than most but not hot. The place seemed fairly clean and we had a good time.

To be completely honest, I love everything and can eat anything but the food from here I had to throw out. I’m a broke student who doesn’t turn down leftovers, but I couldn’t even swallow the food. The sushi crisp part around the rice was so soggy, the fish was super rotten tasting and the gyoza tasted SO WEIRD, kind of like a freezer burn aftertaste? ! The crab Rangoon too— the cheese was so bad in it. How the heck?! Well, this stinks. What a bummer. Waste of my weekly dinner treat to myself.

Sakura sushi has large rolls that are quick to the table and tasty. You may want to order 2 rolls on your first round (3 is not recommended on the first round) to make sure you are good to go for more. The standard all you can eat option is a good price and includes all rolls and appetizers. I was surprised to find that the premium is the same but only includes an additional small group of nigiri, like salmon, tamago, etc. IMO, I think the premium isn't worth the added cost when the rolls are already very large and tasty. Very important to note is that if anyone at the table orders from the short premium list, then everyone at the table also gets charged as a premium seat. Just as important to note, they will charge for any uneaten rolls, including any rice that wasn't eaten. So take care to order a little at a time if you think you may need to. I know it is a lot of rules and strategy to dine in for sushi, but the quality of the sushi for the price is pretty good. My favorite roll here was the rainbow roll. Give it a try.

*Update 4/29*

I just want to post a slight update and say if you're ordering food to go, it seems to be a better quality. I gave this spot another shot and got a roll with some nigiri, and it easily tasted better. I'd bump the food to 4/5 for carry out

---

*Original Dine-in review*

Food is 3/5 while service is 1/5.

The AYCE lunch selection is small compared to other places, and most of it didn't taste like it was made to order. We received rolls before we received our appetizers, which was especially confusing for the tempura rolls coming out about 2 minutes after ordering it. Most places take a while because they still have to fry it, so I'm under the impression it's made ahead of time.

I wouldn't bother with the "special" up charge, which grants you access to the nigiri. The fish did not taste like it was purchased that week. The tuna was very metallic, the egg was breaking apart, and the rice is stale and fell apart immediately.

As for the service, it was slow. You don't get attention unless you ask for it. We sat there for half an hour waiting for the check, and no one came by to grab it for another ten minutes. We had to get up and walk to the front to get someone's attention.

I'd say pass this place up, spend a little extra in any other AYCE location.

It was decent food, upset about the gratuity tip though. I didn’t notice and it wasn’t made very clear, but when I looked I noticed they had taken $7 for gratuity but it seemed the server was upset I only left 4 additional dollars. Better to pay same price next door at Royal Buffet.

We went here last night,
First of all they automatically charge you an 18 percent tip if you do the all you can eat sushi. That’s followed by non existent service. As part of the all you can eat they
force you to
order 3 appetizers I and they way oversized as to fill you up on that so you don’t have an appetite to eat more of the sushi.
The sushi came and they force you to order 3 rolls. The sushi was bland without much flavor. My wife never received the salad she ordered. I had to ask for napkins I had to ask for soy sauce. Terrible service!!!!
Then the fun began when I could not finish the sushi that was so bad I began feeling sick the manager came over to tell me they had to charge me 1$ per piece of sushi after charging me 24$ for the all you can eat. He pointed to a sign that was taped to back of the hostess station that said you’ll be charged for any food you do not eat. What a joke. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! There are so many better options for sushi. It’s seriously a scam.
The manager said to me that he would not charge me extra if I won’t ever do this again.

Honestly I got to admit we spent $64 on the bill and we didn’t even order that much. The sushi is low quality sushi. The female server with giant glasses just stares at you…it was so awkward. Be aware there’s an 18% service charge on top of your bill which the lady on the phone didn’t clarify. Honestly won’t be coming back here. Amazon fresh sells better quality sushi then this place…stay clear. For the price we paid it truly wasn’t worth it

Fire alarms were going off non stop for hours. Edamame was either old or over boiled. Sushi was overall mediocre. When the bill game, all of the sushi was charged as one item, so tax was double what it should have been. Mandatory tip of 18% was far more than what I would give this place. Even with the over stimulation of the fire alarms, all we were given was a single small "sorry about that". There ordering system and the way they were charging things wasn't explained.

In general, horrible experience, do not recommend and will never come back. Wish I had walked out in the beginning instead of sitting through it.
