Blue Sushi Sake Grill is about making people feel good. Uniting sustainable and bold ingredients while creating memorable dining experiences fueled by inspired food, good conversation, a great Happy Hour, and positive vibes.
Ryan was our server, and he was great! We were a party of 8, and they sat us at a really small table, and Ryan immediately noticed and got us a smaller table to add to ours and give us room. He was very nice and attentive, definitely great service! We ordered a very large assortment of different rolls, and they were very good. I highly recommend the mango crab rangoons they were delicious. My favorite sushi roll was the tidal wave, but honestly, our entire meal was fresh and delicious. We will most definitely be back, and going during happy hour is absolutely the way to do it as rolls and drinks are half off!

Food was AMAZING! I also need to say dine with Ashley! Her service was incredible. She was polite and well educated about the sushi. 🍣 I had the lion king roll which had raw sushi in it and made my friend try it who doesn’t like raw sushi and he liked it! He didn’t even realize it was raw sushi.

We stopped by yesterday while baby shoe shopping. We love Friday happy hours. They only have food on their happy menu except on Sunday. We had the Brussel sprouts, calamari and a couple of sushi rolls, all very good. I had the expresso martini, it wasn’t l the best I’ve had but it was good. Really cute lil place in a nice scenic location my only complaint are the chairs. They aren’t the most comfortable but I’d still come back.

Really a 4.5 out of 5 stars ⭐️🫶! It won’t let me half it! Sooo close and here is why!
We started with two drinks, I had the China Doll and my boyfriend had the Hapa highball. For the China Doll you could taste the orange flavor with the pomegranate. I enjoyed all the flavors and it complimented each other nicely! My boyfriend had the Hapa highball and I thought that one was really good as well! It came across really fresh with the yuzu flavor coming through!
Next we had our appetizer which we had the dipping crab.. and I thought it had some good flavors in the moment but it was the least memorable part of the dinner . It was okay unfortunately it is not pictured here. There was only a couple pieces of crab and to me it was an extremely small portion, however I did like the little cucumber slaw that came with it I thought it added a nice brightness/ freshness to the deep fried crab.
We got some new drinks before the sushi arrived and I got the cucumber jalapeño margarita (I really liked this one) , and he got the joto one cup sake. (Not my favorite but it was his lol). The margarita for me was my favorite I think it was the perfect amount of spice with the jalapeño and freshness with the cucumber was chefs kiss especially with the salt rim! The sake was in my opinion meh but that’s just my opinion!
To the main event!!!! If you are still here thanks for reading! Starting at the top was the rainbow roll, next was the spicy tekka (tuna ) and then spicy tako (octopus), next was Spanish fly, Crunchy LA. Then we had crunchy blue and the last one Thriller!
All I gotta say is WOW!!! These in my opinion was the best sushi we have tried thus far! The flavor mixed with texture and the sauce on top was just amazing! My favorite was the Crunchy LA and Thriller! His favorite was the Cruncy Blue!
Also, forgot to mention our server was amazing I forgot to check for her name but she was very attentive and helpful!!! ❤️❤️

I’m incredibly disappointed with my recent experience at Blue Sushi in Naperville. From the moment we arrived, the front reception lady, AINSLEY, was unprofessional and disrespectful. We were greeted with a lack of warmth and a clear sense of indifference, which set the tone for the entire evening.
Given that Blue Sushi charges a premium for its food and ambiance, I had high expectations for both the service and the overall dining experience. Unfortunately, the poor reception overshadowed what should have been a pleasant meal. It's frustrating to pay top dollar and receive such lackluster service, especially when it’s so easy to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
While the food was decent, it didn’t make up for the disappointing service. For a place that prides itself on being a high-end dining spot, the lack of hospitality is unacceptable. I hope they address these issues and ensure that future customers are treated with the respect they deserve.
I wouldn't recommend this location solely based on the front desk service. However, they did offer a small discount for the inconvenience.

I typically visit the Lincoln Park location, but I was in Naperville today and decided to try this one. The interior isn’t particularly charming, which is fine, but it didn’t seem as clean as I would’ve liked. Our table wasn’t wiped down, and while the food was decent, I didn’t feel great afterward. My friend had the same experience. Before I went, I mentioned to my hairstylist that I was heading there, and she warned me that she always feels unwell after dining at this location. Given that it’s a sushi restaurant serving raw fish, cleanliness and hygiene should be a top priority, so I’m not sure I’ll be returning to this location.

First time experience was a 5* review, awesome service, fast delicious food, and great menu; however, the last time I visited all of these were null and void. Very much disappointed as this was my favorite sushi place. Will try one more time.

This is our favorite go to place every time we are in Naperville. The itchy sea bass is a must - never had anything like it! Anna and Danielle provide amazing service and funny - love it when they can anticipate when we need more drinks before asking. Atmosphere and people give off a great vibe. All the above keep us coming back for more. Bring back the Godzilla!

Very fun looking place. Sushi was good but they were cheap on the portion size of fish. My sea bass and tuna were only covering up half the top of the sushi.

Absolutely incredible sushi and drinks. Cannot recommend enough. Get the Itchy Seabass and the Thriller roll. Absolutely insane!!

I'm not one to leave reviews but this deserves a warning. We ordered sushi here for the first time and brought it home. Upon opening our rolls we noticed how small the rolls were for the price of "specialty rolls" they were, from there we couldn't believe just how little fish was in the rolls, literally the size of a pencil eraser head was all there was and the taste was completely bland. This was the worst sushi we've ever had.

Very good sushi, we had the Hawaiian roll and the Philadelphia roll, roasted brussels sprouts and a dessert. Excellent meal for about $40 each during happy hour.

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! It gets better each time. Only thing better than the food is the service!

Terrible service!
My boyfriend and I came there around 3pm on Sunday. The place was pretty empty. Even though there were plenty of free nice tables in the restaurant and by the windows, we were seated right by the exit in a narrow hallway where restaurant employees and customers walk back and force in a few inches from us. The waitress was extremely slow, also seemed unaware of their meals and couldn't explain what we were going to get and in what amount. Eventually we had to order some additional meals because our first order turned out to be ridiculously small. Completely no correspondence between quality and price!

This is a pretty good place. But the Happy Hour menu is deceiving. The online menu we were directed to said the happy hour is available from Monday to Saturday until 6 pm. We also asked about it and received confirmation. Then, at the checkout, we were told that the happy hour fares for drinks only apply on Sundays, which wasn’t indicated in the menu we were directed to (the happy hour page includes the drinks and doesn’t mention anything about Sundays). The barman showed us a different menu indicating this exception in tiny fonts. The place is dope, but I just don’t like these types of deceitful business practices.

I called 824 and asked what time is last seating & they said 830 would be right on time or 5 minutes late so I try to just order carryout but then I was denied a carry out order!!! So, you will take me in person but won't take my order 6 minutes before carryout?!!! I live 30 minutes away I was already halfway there, so I had to turn back to a different sushi place. When all I wanted was a tuna tower and cherry bombs.
Make it make sense

I just want to start by saying the food is ALWAYS AMAZING, that goes without saying but I’m here to review the staff. I was a server for years so I’m not easily impressed, but I have to say the way the whole staff works together is unlike I have seen before, and I have been to so many restaurants in all the different suburbs areas in DuPage County. The service was so good that I couldn’t tell that every employee that came to the table wasn’t our server. I saw 5 people and all of them treated us like they were our server and not just dropping off our food. We had Collin who was great as our server that night but we loved them all. I would like to make a special shout out to Anna the manager, about 4 years ago I had an amazing experience with her and again on this night. She is the type of manager more of these restaurant need. Thanks to all the amazing servers, you guys are seriously amazing at the what you do! I would give 10 stars if I could…

Was not impressed. The pickled gi ger had a chemical flavor. The yellowtail was not fresh (fishy taste) and the rice was overcooked and gummy. Way overpriced for what I received.
Visited 4 months ago
Sadly, my experience at this sushi restaurant was far from satisfactory. I ordered the Philadelphia roll, expecting a balance of fresh ingredients, but what I received was deeply disappointing. For $14, the roll was dominated by large, unpeeled cucumber chunks, overwhelming any other flavors. The Philadelphia cheese was sparse, barely present, and the salmon, which should be the star, was almost non-existent. This was, without a doubt, the worst Philadelphia roll I’ve ever encountered. Although the appetizers were passable and the service was attentive, the sushi quality fell significantly short of expectations, especially at such a steep price. I cannot recommend this place to anyone seeking a proper sushi experience.

It was disappointing and expensive. The dirty entrance and counter should have been a clear indication of what was to come. The service was barely service, and even with the willingness to overlook shortcomings because we have had the above grade sushi in the past, even that now disappoints. After being seated next to the outdoor seating door, it was apparent we should just sit outside since someone came in and out every 45 seconds. Once outside, we were seated under a spiderweb 🕸 covered light. Unfortunately, once outside, we may as well have been in the parking lot as we had to ask twice for someone to find our server. About an hour later, our food arrived, and although the presentation was on point, the food wasn't 😕 and if it wasn't enough, the server forgot to add one of the items to the order despite her willingness to correct our pronunciation when ordering. In summary, avoid Blue Shushi unless you want to spend $300 for a $50 value. Enjoy 😉!

The restaurant has a Beautiful Ambiance with lots of room to accommodate guests - inside & outdoor seating.
We were immediately seated and attended to by our waitress who was super nice and took our order very quickly.
For our appetizer we tried the Mango Crab Rangoons which tasted superb!
We ordered a total of three sushi rolls - Lion King, Spicy Gringo, & Spanish Fly which were delicious.

It’s unfortunate because everything else about the restaurant was great, except for the food.

We were giving them one last chance. Third straight to go order ruined. First time I waited over 30 minutes AFTER t was supposed to be ready. Second time we ordered over $100 worth of food. No ginger, no wasabi, none of the dipping sauces that come with each roll. Third time, another 30 minutes after the order was supposed to be ready. Every time they give a credit to your next order, but it doesn’t matter if you never have a pleasant experience. Over it.

I recently visited one of my favorite restaurants, but this time, the experience left a sour taste due to the treatment we received upon arrival. We walked in around 7:05 PM without a reservation and politely asked if we could get a table for two. Anselie and Tina at the front desk were incredibly rude, telling us there would be a 45-minute wait, despite the fact that half of the restaurant was visibly empty.
Frustrated, we stepped outside and made a reservation for 7:15 PM. When we returned, we were shocked to see them seat another lady who had just walked in without a reservation, giving her a table immediately. It was hard not to feel like we were being treated differently, possibly due to our nationality, which was disheartening.
Once seated, the dining experience improved significantly. Our server, Ashley, was fantastic—she was kind, attentive, and provided exceptional service. The food was, as always, amazing, which is what we’ve come to expect from this restaurant.
While we enjoyed the meal and appreciated Ashley’s excellent service, the unwelcoming attitude at the front desk left us extremely disappointed. This isn’t the treatment I expect from a place I consider a favorite, and it’s unfortunate that such bias may have affected our experience.
I am giving 2 stars just for the server. She was really sweet and helpful.

I visited Blue Sushi Sake today, but unfortunately, my experience left me feeling quite disappointed. We walked in around 7:05 PM without a reservation and asked if we could get a table for two. The two girls at the front desk, Anselie and Tina, were quite rude and told us there would be a 45-minute wait. This seemed strange because almost half the restaurant was visibly empty.
We stepped outside and tried to get online reservation and as expected there were availbilities, we got a reservation for 7:15 PM. When we returned, we noticed they seated another lady who had just walked in without a reservation, giving her a table immediately. This really shouldn't have happened, and we couldn't help but feel there was some bias involved, possibly due to our nationality. It was disheartening to feel unwelcome at a restaurant we previously loved.
Despite this unpleasant start, we were finally seated, and our server, Ashley, completely turned things around for us. She was incredibly sweet and provided exceptional service. The food was amazing, as it always is, and Ashley made sure we had a great dining experience.
Overall, while we were very happy with the food and our server, the front desk experience was disappointing and left us feeling unwelcome. I hope management takes notice and ensures all guests are treated fairly in the future.

This review is for a delivery order, so I did not rate service or atmosphere. Unfortunately, the review is going to be short and disappointing (like our order).
We ordered the crispy rice cakes, five maki, and the ebi nagiri. The online ordering experience was easy and order did arrive fairly quickly, delivered by an uber eats driver, and that's about where the positives stop.
The crispy rice cake was not crispy and it was somehow bland. The maki was sloppily rolled, with the rolls lacking a nori wrapper falling apart and the ones with a nori wrapper looking like they'd been rolled by a kindergartener. With the exception of the fried roll, the "hotel cali" the main flavor was rice vinegar. The wasabi had no kick, like it had been sitting out for awhile. It is unfortunate, but I have had better maki from Mariano's.
Overall this was a disappointing sushi experience - and an expensive one. The prices were higher than what we have traditionally paid in the city. I won't be giving this place a second chance, and while I hope my experience was unique, I do urge caution before sinking significant money into the food from Blue Sushi Sake Grill.

I went to Blue Sushi Sake Grill for dinner. We ordered the Dipping Crab, Ceviche, Hotel Cali Roll, San Marcos Maki, and the Tataki Maki. The ceviche was not as good as the previous time I had ordered it. It was lacking a little salt and maybe citrus. I also thought the serrano was a little over powering to the San Marcos maki flavor, but still very good. Service staff was friendly and restaurant was clean.

I was pretty bummed out that it wasn't better than the hype made it out to be. The sushi rolls were okay, but the nagiri was way overpriced. Our server seemed to be more interested in other tables or talking with coworkers than providing our table with attention. It took about 45 minutes after ordering 3 rolls to get our food. It was very loud, which made conversing difficult to hear each other. We were celebrating a birthday, but there were no extras provided or offered.

Never got water refills or empty dishes removed from table. Sushi was loosely rolled and kinda bland. Only good roll was the Thriller.
And while probably not their fault, had a fly antagonizing us while we waited forever.

Officially my favorite sushi restaurant and, in my opinion, this is the *best* sushi place in the suburbs! I'm so happy to have discovered them!!
They have delicious and unique sushi flavors. I would personally recommend any of their specialty maki, such as the Hotel Cali roll and Tidal Wave roll. The drinks are delicious and flavorful and worth ordering as well. It's a bit more on the pricier side compared to other sushi restaurants, but I feel it's worth it. Love that they have PLENTY of vegetarian options as well!
The service is fast and the staff are friendly! I love the atmosphere - relaxed, but also able to offer a nice formal dinner vibe, too!
**They get pretty busy on the weekends and during dinner time, so be sure to make a reservation online beforehand. If not, the wait can be around 30 minutes. During the wait, you can take a walk around downtown Naperville, which has a lot to offer!

Absolutely delicious sushi in these Chicago suburbs! Their sushi menu creator gets all my compliments, wildly creative dishes and fresh sushi. Their marinades and sauces are unique and complex. Their use of fruit with the sushi is a great complement to the food and not overwhelming. On top of all that, it's in a beautiful spot in Naperville! It's right off the river and has a nice view of the park. We had dinner around sunset and it was a great view. And we'd highly recommend the cocktails!

A perfect location for dinner and drinks. We had the rangoons for a starter. An espresso martini and a kokuto whiskey. Both were pretty good. The espresso martini seems to have more of a cocoa bitterness to it. The sushi we got was also good. My favorite being the lion king? I think that was what it was called. Hotel cali was a little one note for me. And the spider maki left a little to be desired. But I think next time we will just try some other rolls. We loved the vibe here, and the service was also really good. It does seem like it is a younger crowd (late teens early 20’s).

I am guessing they must be short staffed here. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait for a table, so we opted to eat at the bar so we wouldn’t have to wait. There must have been at least 7 or 8 empty tables that never got used while we were there. The food took a little longer than expected to come out as well. Like I said, probably short staffed so not their fault. The food was good. I enjoyed what I ordered, but portions were smaller than I expected. You have to ask for the happy hour menu if you want to order something off of it.

The only difference between this sushi restaurant and one run by any other mom and pop restaurant is the branding and atmosphere. The sushi, albeit not terrible, doesn’t match the opulent branding and luxurious atmosphere. Additionally, if this restaurant wants to be consistent with its branding it shouldn’t use disposable chopsticks though I do understand if it is for hygiene. In summary and in terms my generation can understand, this was a mid experience.

It is definately my favorite sushi in Naperville. They have happy hour the whole week. But if you go during happy hour make sure to ask the host for the happy hour menu, otherwise you usually get the regular only. Also if you sign up to their website you have $10 off the first purchase and sometimes they send you other discounts to your email. Downside is that it is hard to walk in without a reservation unless you go early around 4 pm or earlier. But it is easy to make a reservation online or by phone.

We stop here every time we go to Chicago. One of the best sushi places I've been. Extensive menu, everything I've ordered has been wonderful. Quick and friendly service, fantastic atmosphere. I really want to go up in the summer to enjoy their outside seating.

Over-rated. Nice looking place inside. They use Krab and call it crab.

I have dined here multiple times and yesterday was the absolute BEST. Our server, Ryan, deserves big kudos for being kind, sweet, and thoughtful. He went out of his way to make my best friends birthday special with an awesome sushi presentation! The food is presented perfect and tastes incredible! Highly recommend!
The hostess (she has red hair but didn’t catch her name) was also an absolute sweetie pie!

Absolutely loved this place! Cocktails were amazing, but the sushi.... Maaaan the sushi was phenomenal!! We got half fish and half vegan rolls, and I'm shocked to say how amazing the vegan rolls were! I'm not vegan but they sounded so good we couldn't pass up trying them, and I'm so glad we did!! Best sushi we've ever had and happy to have found our new sushi spot 😂

Origami adorns the ceiling. Service was superb. The cocktails were delightful, and the food was top notch.
Blue Sushi sits on Water St, and when the weather is nice, there is outdoor seating with views of the Naperville Riverwalk. Upon entering Blue Sushi, you're greeted by a host, or a message on the iPad if they step away. We were seated rather quick and Charlie was such a sweetheart. He made cocktail recommendations, checked on us throughout the course of dining, and invited us back.

I really enjoyed this place. It has a really great atmosphere and the staff was so very accommodating and friendly. We spent a little more than we anticipated but the high quality of food and drinks appropriately demanded it. Everything was so fresh and delicious. This has definitely made it to our top places to go for sushi. We all loved it.

Our server was super helpful and attentive. He checked on us often. Food and drinks were phenomenal. The cucumber jalapeño margarita with the mezcal float was delicious. Menu is huge too! And I love that you can customize the rolls. One of our rolls we requested soy paper instead of seaweed and a few other ones we removed an ingredient. Which most sushi restaurants don’t do. We weren’t rushed but didn’t have to wait for the check. Will def be back!

compared to other locations this is the worst. Youre better off going to the location in chicago because the quality is better all around. Servers are lost and confused because their ordered take hours to
Come out so they never check on you. I’ve went here 6 times trying to give it a chance each time and each time was terrible

This was my first time having sushi - our server went above and beyond to answer questions, make suggestions, and make it a great experience overall

one of my favorite restaurants around! The Mango Rangoon is always a must!

Great sushi but slow so leave yourself time. Also, they have a GF menu but often make errors with the food (ex packing it with non GF stuff for take out or putting non GF things on a GF salad). 😑

My wife and I visited the establishment for an early dinner on 2/18/24. Despite several empty tables, we were directed to sit at the bar, which was fine. However, we were disappointed by the service we received from one of the bartenders. Despite being the only customers at the bar initially, we felt ignored as she attended promptly to other patrons, particularly those who appeared to be white. After waiting for an extended period without any acknowledgment or service, we brought our concerns to another staff member and decided to leave. The lack of apology and apparent indifference to our experience left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. It's unfortunate that our race seemed to influence the level of service we received. We hope the establishment takes steps to address such behavior in the future.

Delicious sushi. They have unique rolls. About one quarter of the menu was vegetarian options. The menu also listed out where each fish was sourced, which was very nice to see on a sushi menu. You can make an informare decision if you want to avoid one fish over another.
We had their seaweed salad which was not a traditional salad, but was good. It had cucumber and a variety of other sea weed. The size is shareable.
We had an assortment of maki sushi. All was very good. We ended our meal with fried ice cream which was more than enough for 2 people.
Will definitely come back again in the summer to enjoy their patio and river side seating. Food was tasty, our server was delightful, and the atmosphere was relaxing for a lunch meal.

Atmosphere was pleasant, service was attentive. Drinks were tasty. Sadly, the food was a huge disappointment. Crispy rice cakes were crispy. But the rice was overcooked hence mushy in the center. The tuna topping was tasteless (could have had been compressed watermelon for all i knew). The maki was generously served, but again mushy over cooked rice and under seasoned. C’mon guys, where is your quality control? This should be your staple. That batch of rice should have been dumped and start again. Tsk! tsk! Then I specifically asked if they used real crab meat. Most definitely was the reply. Well, most definitely NOT. It’s crab cake guys!!! Thats surimi, not crab meat. I count that as imitation crab. I was more than a little disappointed.

The food here is always delicious but Ryan C made our time even better! He is a pleasant, perfectly attentive server. We never felt rushed or bothered, and would come back just to see him!
