Amazing Sushi and Margaritas at Tsukiji Sushi!

I recently visited Tsukiji Sushi with family in town, and it exceeded all of our expectations! The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and we were blown away by the amazing margaritas—some of the best we’ve ever had. Even though it was a busy Saturday, the customer service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and gave us excellent recommendations that really enhanced our dining experience. Whether you’re a sushi lover or just looking for a great night out, Tsukiji Sushi is a must-visit. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back!

Must visit place for their delicious food and kind and friendly servers who provided the best recommendations. Ambiance is really cool with Latin music and Japanese decor making it the perfect fusion setting. We ordered Lobster wonton, Tokio, and Fat Buddha, and all 3 were delicious and filling for 3 people.

The owner Jessie and her husband are the nicest people. The hospitality and serivce was so amazing. The food was great, we got the mangonada & the rumba sushi rolls. Definitely coming back again. Margaritas amazing too! I recommend coming from 5-6 because happy hour, only $10 for amazing drinks.

Definitely coming back. My friend and I started with happy hour and got ourselves a Jamaica and dragon fruit margaritas and they were sooo good and refreshing! Had their spicy edamame which were so addicting. Our waitress was very attentive and asked us what type of sushi we liked which was awesome so we did go with the Guacamole fusion which was full of fantastic flavors and then we went ahead with the Tokio roll and it was just also really good and very fulfilling. The music was really good too so it was definitely a vibe. Can’t wait to go again.

Food: we got the lobster wontons, ocean, jalapeño, and Santana. They have lots of drink selections as well with the syrups being house made. The mango and strawberry margarita with tajin rib was really good, it was sweet and tangy. The lobster wonton had real chunks of meat blended with the filling which was creamy and delicious. The ocean heart was good with the chili oil on top to take away the flavors. However, the Santana was rather underwhelming, and it was bland. Even with the eel sauce, it couldn’t really fix the flavor. I would come back here again to try the other items in the menu.

Service: the service was great, very bubbly personalities and making sure that we had a great first experience

Ambiance: it’s a fusion restaurant between Latin culture and Japanese giving that sleek modern design perfect for a first date. It gives a very low light ambience, with Latin music to vibe against with.

Location accommodation: they do have outside seating but very limited. They also take reservations and parking is on the side streets.

Feel very ripped off by this establishment. The actual items delivered looked nothing like the photos on their website. Ingredients on one signature roll were missing. The edamame was bland and unsalted even though they ask if you want it salted which I chose. We’ve tried many sushi places around and this was very overpriced and poor quality. See tempura photo. Four pieces of this sad looking, poorly breaded tempura. Never again.

My friend and I came for my birthday and we were blown away! From walking through the door to walking out, the staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. We had a spicy California roll, and tropical roll and Tokyo roll, WOW. Words can’t even begin to describe how amazing! We also tried the Mariscos ramen and the Miso ramen and both were so full of flavor. The Mariscos creamy broth and the heat from the Miso was perfect! Safe to say this will be our new sushi spot. Nobody comes close to this place! 10/10

I discovered this restaurant on TikTok and, as a sushi lover, I had to give it a try. The food was absolutely amazing! I arrived an hour before they opened, so I ended up waiting to get in. At first, the female owner didn’t seem very welcoming, but when I mentioned that I had waited an hour, her husband chimed in and said, ‘You sure did—I saw you.’ That seemed to break the ice, and she became much more excited and friendly. Overall, I had a great experience, and to top it off, she even gave me a free margarita. Highly recommend!

Just left this place a few hours ago! Jessie was so nice. Service was amazing! I’m a server myself & she went above & beyond. Everything was fantastic!! Loved the lobster wontons. We had to get another order after our first one. We got sushi as well.. Tokio & Santana. Followed by our ramen. Everything was insanely good! Can’t forget about the margaritas omg!! Even the water tasted good lol. Also love that we follow one another on IG now. Love that they interact with the customers like that. We will be back!!

Segunda vez que visito este sitio y el trato de la mesonera que al parecer es la dueña de nombre Jessie, ha sido el mismo trato despectivo y sarcástico a la hora de hablar y no somos los únicos con esta misma experiencia, cabe acotar que tuvimos que llamarla para que nos atendiera cada vez que requeríamos algo, ella en ningún momento se acercó a preguntar que necesitábamos, aparte del tiempo de espera innecesario cuando teníamos reservación y las mesas estaban vacías pero por llegar cinco minutos antes, no nos sentaron de una vez. En definitiva deberían de cambiar y darles la oportunidad a las otras dos chicas que son mesoneras pero que al parecer no pueden hacer órdenes porque todo lo hace esta persona Jessie. El sushi es excelente, los dos chicos de la barra de sushi son amables, los bartender y las otras dos chicas mesoneras. Es un restaurante que podría llegar mucho más lejos porque la comida es excelente pero sin esta persona llamada Jessie atendiendo al público.

Second time I visit this place and the treatment of the waitress who apparently is the owner named Jessie, has been the same disdainful and sarcastic treatment when talking and we are not the only ones with this same experience, it should be noted that we had to call her to attend to us every time we needed something, she never came to ask what we needed, apart from the unnecessary waiting time when we had a reservation and the tables were empty but because we arrived five minutes early, they did not seat us right away. In short, they should change and give the opportunity to the other two girls who are waitresses but who apparently cannot make orders because this person named Jessie does everything. The sushi is excellent, the two guys at the sushi bar are kind, the bartenders and the other two girls waiters. It is a restaurant that could go much further because the food is excellent but without this person named Jessie serving the public.

Service:
Unfortunately, my experience with the service was disappointing. I arrived 15 minutes before my reservation (7:45 pm), and although there were available tables, the waitress, Jessie (apparently the owner), made us wait until 8:00 pm. Despite this, she was neither proactive nor attentive: we had to call her several times to take our orders, both for drinks and food. Additionally, her attitude toward us was rude and sarcastic, such as when she remarked, “The wait for the food was worth it, wasn’t it?”.

I felt particularly disrespected, with the impression that my Latin background may have influenced her behavior. If that was indeed the case, I’d like to point out that I am bilingual, but that should not justify the poor treatment I received.

Food:
On the other hand, the food was excellent, showcasing the talent of the kitchen and bar teams. The chefs and bartenders were kind and attentive, which contrasted with the poor service provided by the waitress.

Recommendation:
The restaurant should prioritize training its staff in customer service and respectful interactions with patrons. A great dining experience is not just about the food but also the treatment guests receive.

Conclusion:
I would not return to this restaurant due to the unpleasant and xenophobic experience I endured. When I visit a restaurant, I expect to enjoy myself and be treated with respect, as I am paying for both the food and the service.

I wanted to come get sushi with my partner but wasn’t aware you needed a reservation. There was a lot of empty tables open and when I go make a reservation online the next available table is in 30 minutes meaning one if not a few of all of those empty tables were already available, no one had them reserved. I was a hostess for years and I know how it works so I truly don’t understand why we couldn’t be seated or told to just wait 30 minutes. She just told us I’m sorry and next time make a reservation lol.. After waiting 10 minutes to even be greeted I’m sure she took one glance at us and decided she didn’t want us to eat there since we were dressed more comfortable than what the atmosphere was which is fine, but please specify if you have a dress code and need reservations 30 minutes in advance to be seated. I may not agree with those ridiculous rules but it would have been nice to know when looking up this place online. I don’t think I will be coming back just off of that interaction and I was really excited to try it.

Customer service is seriously lacking here. We arrived for a reservation for 2 and it took quite a bit of time for the waitress to come take our order, when she finally arrived she took our drink and appetizer order but refused to take our entree order. Considering we were there for 20 minutes we would expect to be able to put in our entire order. The appetizer came before she brought our drinks and we waited another 30 minutes to put in our 2 roll entree order. We waited another 45 minutes for the rolls. There seems to be an issue on how they flow their service here based on the other reviews talking about service delays. Why would you not take a parties full order knowing that you are about to hit a dinner rush? I’m not sure what type of service method they are trying to execute here but clearly they are lacking a consistent approach. All-in-all we spent almost 2 hours here for 1 appetizer and 2 rolls. Considering the rising cost of doing business you’d think the owner would implement some sort of urgency to turn tables. Imagine how many more guest they could accommodate if they just got their act together. Being in the West Loop there are so many other options for quality sushi spots you can visit with outstanding service. Considering the copy/paste response from the owner they don’t actually care to rectify the lack of service. Save yourself the headache and walk down the street to Butterfly.

The overall experience of this place was okay. I Feel that I might have encountered the owner or business partner She would not let our waitress Ruth do her thing. My sister and I were in the area, wanted sushi, and decided to give this place a try. We walked in on a Thursday night around 9 pm. It was great timing, as the dinner rush was slowing down and clearing out. As soon as we sat down, we realized the Latin music. (I definitely saw margaritas listed on the chalkboard outside the door but didn’t think twice about it.)

This place is truly sushi with a twist! We got the miso soup (one spicy, one regular). I had the spicy, and it was the best miso soup I’ve ever had. The regular was also super flavorful. The lobster wontons were so good! I was pleasantly surprised because I’m not a crab wonton girlie, but these were delicious.

For rolls, my sister got the lime fusion. Wow! The lime wakes up that roll in the best way. I got the negi hamachi and crunchy spicy shrimp. Crunchy spicy shrimp was my fave of the two. The negi hamachi delivered!

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and so delicious! Try this place out!

This place was awesome! Our original dinner plans fell through, so we made a last-minute plan to come here, and WOW, was it worth it. The margaritas? Phenomenal (personal fav was the tamarindo)! We had the Mariscos Ramen and the Santana Roll, and holy - it was all so good. Would definitely recommend coming here. Only (minor) complaint was that service was a little slow, but they were busy, so it wasn't too big of a deal. Great place to go <3

Wonderful experience. I wasn’t sure what Latin sushi fusion would be but wow! Starting with the drinks, the margaritas are amazing. So fresh, not overly sweet and just overall fabulous. The food from starters to rolls was also impressive. Everything was delicious and fresh. The service was superb and the atmosphere was fun and lively with a nice volume in the dining room. Beautiful setting with terrific food and staff. Went out for a romantic dinner after work and it was a wonderful experience with a beautiful setting (especially with all the lanterns lit) AMAZING fusion food and an extremely personable staff. Jessie really made sure that we were taken care of and gave us excellent recommendations. The topper on the cake was being able to support a family owned business, it’s really something special.

To start off, the water was what the heck. I can't even fathom giving that kind of water to a dog much less a person. I wanted to leave the instant we got a sip of water. I told my girlfriend that we should at least try the sushi. When the waiter came back she suggested the miso soup, which I may add was the worst miso soup I've ever had. The sushi itself came out after a while,which is understandable. However, the flavor of the sushi itself was not good. I think Jewel could've outdone the sushi I ate, with no soy sauce. I think I've had better sushi at 7-11. Regardless, I didn't really feel like expressing my concerns in the moment and decided to leave. The sushi was about 21 dollars and the miso was 4. The most I believe that sushi could ever go for is 13 dollars. The miso about a dollar fifty, if we're being generous. I had to go somewhere else to actually eat good food. That being said the place itself looked nice.

This is the first time I've ever felt the need to make a review to make sure people steer clear of this place. If you enjoy it, hey I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but know this.... I am heavily judging you for liking this place (as an eatery).

Went here for dinner on a Friday night and experienced long wait times, but was happy to wait if the food was good. While the food was good, the treatment we experienced was unfair. We had booked a reservation and was told by the host that she was prioritizing a walk in who came in not too long before us. After waiting for some time, we got our seats and proceeded to wait a very long time for our food. Our order wasn’t anything special or particularly difficult to make but we saw other guests who got seated after us receive their full meals including appetizers before we even received our appetizers. Others were comped free food as well due to the wait but we received nothing. We even had our server keep repeatedly taking our water away from the table when we were still using it. It wasn’t so much as the inconvenience of it all as it was the unfair treatment which compelled me to write this review in the first place. The staff was nice but unfair treatment with a smile isn’t hospitality.

My girlfriend and I decided to try sushi for the first time a while ago and we didn’t have a great experience. We decided to give Tsukiji a try after all this time and I’m so happy we did!

The margaritas are the best in town. The syrups are made in house and gives everything a fresh taste that bars and other places can’t get you.

For appetizers, we had the lobster wontons and the beef yakitori. Our server convinced us of the former and I’m happy she did!

The rolls were of course the star of the show, giving a wonderful mix of flavors. We had the spicy fusion and the flavors were so fulfilling. I can tell from the flavor alone that the sushi chefs care about the quality of their work and take pride in it. For my vegetarian friends, I also recommend the mangonada. Sweet mango, plantain, mushroom, all with tajin on top is a genius touch.

The grilled banana for dessert and my girlfriend are now fighting for the top spot in my heart (She’s right in front of me, don’t tell her I said that).

What an experience! We’ll absolutely be back for the amazing customer service. Thank you Jessy!

The staff were friendly, and the food was very good. However, the atmosphere and extremely long wait times ruined the experience for my husband and I. Besides the strange choice of decor, uncomfortable seating and what looks to be an unfinished wall, we waited over an hour to receive our food in which we order only 2 menu items after 1 appetizer. Not sure if there was a lack of staff, but no one came to us to inform us about the wait time. We had to pull a server by our table after an hour to ask if the food was coming out. We spent over an 1hr and 30 minutes for total of 3 food items we ordered. Additionally, having booked on Open Table, we were marked as a "no show" despite us checking in for our reservation which carries penalties in Open Table's policies and can restrict your account.

Though the food is very good, it was not worth the total experience of lack in everything else.

We are semi sushi eaters lol which means we eat anything tempura based. We decided to try out this restaurant for a late night dinner. We ordered strawberry / mango mocktails which were very tasty. The lobster wontons were AMAZING! You could literally eat this as a meal, just make to order at least 3 orders of them. We ordered 3 different types of sushi. The Tropical wasn’t bad, I love plantain but I thought it would be a fried piece in the middle. However it was a large piece wrapped around and it was more riper than I prefer. There wasn’t enough shrimp to offset the large amount of plantain for me. It wasn’t bad but this would be a great vegetarian option if modified. The Tokio was great and well put together. The crunch was perfect, we preferred a little more spice but that’s just us. Lastly was the calamari roll. We were hesitant about the fish eggs but they didn’t change the dish in a major way (remember we are fake sushi people lol). It was very light like a California roll with the right amount of kick. Awesome experience and would definitely recommend.

I really loved the service here!!! This is the first place I’ve been to where literally everything was amazing. The entrees, the margaritas, the appetizers, and the service were all amazing!! We got the seafood ramen, the lobster wontons, the tokio roll and two passion fruit margaritas. They even customized things for us. Jess and the other waitress that waited on us were so friendly and welcoming. We will most definitely be back!!! Thank you for an amazing experience.

We went to this place really wanting to love it - It's close by and we LOVE sushi. However, the service was extremely slow, and by the time we got our food, we couldn't fully enjoy it because we were waiting for over an hour. The rice wasn't fully cooked in our nigiri, and the fish didn't taste very fresh. We did go the week of the DNC, and they said that's why service was slow, so maybe we will try again during the slow season, but overall, we've had better sushi experiences elsewhere. We do appreciate they gave us some free drinks and edamame to make up for the waiting.

This is my second time here and so far it’s one of my favorite sushi places. Big variety of specialty rolls with unique flavors. Love the Latin fusion vibes to this sushi spot. The owners are very attentive and fabulous. I definitely recommend it, come and check this place out!!!

I came here for my birthday last year and still dream about the guava margarita I had. The food was so fresh and delicious plus presented so nicely. I would give it zero stars if it was an option. 2 hour wait to get food, sushi was mushy and disgusting, and the management tried to charge for ramen that we never received!!! Would absolutely never go back and wouldn't recommend to anyone ever!

This place was very mediocre. The service was The worst I have ever experienced. They had three waiters for the entire restaurant we had to flag down the waiter to give us water. He never acknowledged us when we got to the table, so we try to hurry and place the order while he was there before he disappeared. We ordered margaritas. They took 20 minutes to come out. And the crab Rangoon took 20 minutes to come out and it was cold And not fried crispy, it was Flimsy. It was another couple sitting next to us. They were there two minutes before we sat down and then they got up and left and we were like where are you going? They said the waiter never took their Order. It was another group of people who came in after us they order and receive food before we did. We waited another 10 minutes to see if we would get our food. We never got our food so we just left the establishment all together. It was another Group of ladies who also was sitting before us they never got their food as well. I hope that we did not experience racism and this restaurant, But that’s what it felt like everyone who wasn’t my skin tone got their food before anybody else did. On top of all of that the parking is horrible? I would never recommend this establishment to anyone sushi and margaritas. I did not see not one Japanese person in there, and I realized that after we left.

I wish I could rate this place higher cause the food was phenomenal!!!

BUT it took forever !!! My group had a reservation for 8:30pm, we got showed to our table as soon as we walked in, and the server greeted us in a timely manner. They took our drink orders and our appetiser orders when we were ready. Then 10 mins went by, then 20mins, then 30!! After about 45 mins we finally got our drinks!! Then another 15-20mins we got our starters. After over an hour or so of being there we got the chance to actually order our food haha.

Of course, it took over 45mins for the first two dishes to come out and then another 15 - 20 mins for the rest of my friends to get their orders. Not to mention, I got a tequila tonic for the same price as their craft cocktails ??(but that might have been my error haha)

We ended up leaving the restaurant at 11:03 pm!!!!! And that was immediately after we finished our meals cause they were closed lmao…

Def want to try them again cause the servers were kind and the food was genuinely delicious!!!

Food: we got the lobster wontons, ocean, jalapeño, and Santana. They have lots of drink selections as well with the syrups being house made. The mango and strawberry margarita with tajin rib was really good, it was sweet and tangy. The lobster wonton had real chunks of meat blended with the filling which was creamy and delicious. The ocean heart was good with the chili oil on top to take away the flavors. However, the Santana was rather underwhelming, and it was bland. Even with the eel sauce, it couldn’t really fix the flavor. I would come back here again to try the other items in the menu.

Service: the service was great, very bubbly personalities and making sure that we had a great first experience

Ambiance: it’s a fusion restaurant between Latin culture and Japanese giving that sleek modern design perfect for a first date. It gives a very low light ambience, with Latin music to vibe against with.

Location accommodation: they do have outside seating but very limited. They also take reservations and parking is on the side streets.

The best! We had a vegan, onion allergy, frugality’s and birthday girl. We all were more than satisfied. The service was top tier. The owner was kind and understanding. The quality of every dish was amazing. We doubled up on two appetizers the lobster rolls and the seaweed salad. Even the chocolate lava cake surprise for the birthday girl was delicious! Stopped here on a Friday night while in the neighborhood and based on the 4.7 star reviews. Unfortunately we did not have a 4.7 star experience. It took almost 15 minutes to get a bottle of Sapporo, 35 minutes for a single appetizer, and another 35 minutes for two rolls. A server took my $15 margarita before I was done with it, by sticking her thumb in the glass and carrying it away without asking. The food was bland and definitely nothing to write home about. When we mentioned everything was taking a long time, our server said "weekends are busy and we'd have faster service during the week"...but we were surrounded by ten (I counted!) empty tables and the staff were definitely not overwhelmed. Will not be returning.

Drove over an hour to come here and I can say it was definitely worth it! When we walked in we were greeted immediately by Jessie who was so attentive and kind! She had great recommendations to which I ended up ordering. I got their lobster wontons and spicy edamame to start off and it was delicious! Really nice portion sizes as well. As for dinner I got a strawberry margarita and the santana which was absolutely amazing! I never thought on how well a margarita would pair with sushi! Overall a 10/10 experience and will definitely be back soon!

This is one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. The QR code menu had pictures of the food which had much larger portions than what we ended up getting. The worst offender being the $19 seared tuna; it looked like the size of an entree but was barely an appetizer. Pair the overpriced food, small portions, and the flies buzzing around our table and I can’t recommend that you avoid this place enough.
