Opened in 2021, Q Sushi Bar & Omakase is a casual sushi restaurant that offers a la carte options as well as omakase style dining.
amazing food, bad service, weird environment. incredibly expensive for somewhere that had poor service and feels like you’re in a strip mall beside a Subway in a suburb. just not worth the hype. tried to order the chefs $99 tasting menu and was just told “no, we aren’t doing that tonight.” so we ordered A la carte (which the food was exquisite) and spent $300 for two people. We ended up having to go somewhere after for more food to not be hungry. the food was perfection but I think their level of service wouldn’t fly at your local Arby’s. don’t go and save your money

We were looking at sushi spots in Chicago, and Sushi Q caught my eye!
They offer a variety of sashimi, nigiri, and other dishes, and they also have a chef selection or omakase, which was one of the best for the value and taste we had here in the States.
The omakase had many dishes and was definitely worth the price. An appetizer, miso soup, multiple sashimi pieces, 4 pieces of nigiri, a handroll, 4 pieces of maki, and MORE were included for around $100.
The tea was also unlimited, and we had many refills. The server was also friendly and checked on us quite often. There was plently of space outside and inside.
Overall, Sushi Q has a great omakase at an amazing price point, and the food was fresh and delicious. Definitely try out their omakase!

We went there three times. The first two times were a couple years ago and it was great. The Omakase the first two times was imaginative and great quality. So we decided to go there on New Years Eve this year. Unfortunately this experience was really bad. The service was good. The Omakase experience was about as imaginative as strip mall fast food. The cost would have been $170 per person but we did express our displeasure so they gave us the regular Omakase price. It wasn’t worth the $90 per person either but we did appreciate that they realized it wasn’t up to par. Not sure if it’s a new chef but we will not go again.

Not bad. The sushi was fresh, and the price was pretty reasonable for omakase, but nothing super impressive, and I feel like 4.9 stars doesn't fully represent accurate the quality.
Some of the dishes feel very American-japanese, and had weird flavour combos.

Came here for my 32nd Birthday. I didn’t do the omakase and decided to pick out my own orders. The nigiri and sashimi are so fresh and delicious! The chef even gave us complementary rolls!!! He’s the best!! The staffs are so sweet and pleasant! Here are my personal favorite sushi order! Ebi shrimp (sweet w/ nice texture), uni (sweet & creamy!!), hotate scallop nigiri!, fatty tuna (buttery & melts in mouth!), salmon nigiri, and salmon maki (bang for you buck!only $15 not on menu but it’s high quality salmon!)
I also recommend the green tea mochi ice cream! You can actually taste the stronger green tea in it! Highly recommend! Can’t wait to come back again and try more!

Oh Q Sushi, you have a special place in my heart for all my sushi needs! Where do I even begin, we came with a group and were seated right away as they do get busy. They also have nice outdoor seating. The staff were so nice! And the best part is that they’ll bring you shots and take shots with you! It’s a sushi experience for sure. We got a bunch of different rolls and they were all delicious and fresh! I’d definitely be back. We ordered hamachi crudo, blue crab motoyaki, salmon, spicy tuna, tuna, yellowtail, unagi, zuke sake. Their tuna tartar was bomb!! Oh and shoutout to Mike!!!

This is a great local sushi-ya with a great selection of traditional nigiri, maki, omakase, sake, and more. The atmosphere encourages social interaction, even if you're dining solo. The chefs are great at making small talk and recognizing repeat customers.
The menu is extensive and includes just about everything that a good sushi-ya should have. Fish seems to be flown-in regularly and tastes about as fresh as it gets considering that many of the ingredients have to travel halfway across the globe. The sake selection is impressive and the chefs know a thing or two about pairing the right drink with the particular food you've ordered.
Service isn't the fastest- just a handful of people working VERY hard, but the social atmosphere makes that not a big deal. It's fun to watch these experts do their thing and chat with other patrons while you wait.

We came to Q sushi on New Year’s Eve and booked the tasting menu but upon arriving, we were told we “didn’t book” it and they were out of fish so we had to order a la carte. Disappointing but we tried to make the best of it. But then not only that, they didn’t have several menu items that we tried to order and they didn’t tell us about some of them until the end of the meal. After 30mins of being there, they did last call and we weren’t able to order anything after that even though we had only received the first couple food items. We have been here a couple times before and brought a 12pk of Miller Lite for the sushi chefs - the entire bar was drinking our Miller Lites while they continuously ignored our table and forgot to bring us items we ordered. Food is actually good, but the experience and service was very disappointing so we will not be coming back.

Q Sushi Bar is a diamond in the rough that offers sublime fish, served up by convivial, knowledgeable chefs at a no frills, clubhouse-like atmosphere that makes you feel like one of the family. Checking out their signature sashimi as well as any available special fish is a no brainer, but anything you get here will be spectacular. Bonus if you like to drink, Q features sakes meticulously curated to offer a selection unavailable at the common liquor store, and no chicago business is complete without a trusty bottle of malort to dazzle customers, and these chefs certainly know how to dazzle.

Couldn’t tell you if food was good or bad. We a table of three, waited for twenty minutes just to order drinks. While ordering another table interrupts us so they can ask for more condiments. Waiter leaves to help that table and comes back five minutes latter to continue or drink order. We asked for three waters. Waited another ten minutes and drinks still had ent arrived. The waiter that took our order was going around and filling waters at all tables after our order. Only two people needed them out of the entire restaurant. All in all waited over thirty five minutes at the table and still didn’t get a drink. We left and would not recommend again not because of food but very poor and honestly ludicrous service.

Great spot. Best sushi in Chicago, and great atmosphere. It's a bit like when you were in college and that one guy would get hammered and serve you extremely good food. It is a bit pricey, but for the quality it's absolutely worth it.
If you're going to eat here for your meal the tasting menu is probably cheaper than ordering individual items.

Wow! What an incredible omakase experience! Q and their team are truly masters of their craft, seamlessly blending traditional Japanese cuisine with unique, innovative twists. From start to finish, every dish was executed flawlessly, making the entire dinner an unforgettable delight. The omakase menu paired perfectly with the sake selections, enhancing each course beautifully. As a newcomer to the neighborhood, I'm thrilled to have discovered such a gem and can't wait to make it a regular dining spot, despite the strain on my wallet. The quality and experience are absolutely worth it. Thanks for a great solo Saturday evening.

Had such an excellent meal here! We checked it out because they have a patio and we are covid cautious. The staff was so friendly and kind and the food was genuinely wonderful. Every dish was extremely intentional, they clearly put thought into each item, down to the order they sent it out, even though we didn't go for the omakase and ordered from the menu. Miso soup with mushroom was superb-- really rich and delicious. I feel like it's a good sign when things like that aren't an afterthought!

Glad I took the opportunity to check out this new spot near Ravenswood! Really high level of sushi and the vibe inside is really nice and chill. Me and my partner had our 6th year anniversary here, wanting to try something delicious since we were recommended this place. We told the the staff ahead of time in our reservation that it was our anniversary. The first half of our stay was great, food was coming out at a decent pace along with it being very good and just no complaints. Until we both finished, the server came over and asked us if we wanted anything else to eat. Spending already over $100 we said no at first and then he proceeds to judge us for what we got so far and not getting more. So that made us pressure into getting something else, which we didn't want because we were full already. While we ate here, there were two birthdays going on, both got free desserts. Once we actually got the bill, for one we were surprised we didn't get anything before the bill since it was our anniversary, and secondly, when we checked the bill to see if we got a discount or anything off at least, nothing was done. It was the full price as if it was a normal dinner stay. We were quite disappointed as the other two peoples events were honored, ours was not. By the time we left, they didn't say any goodbye to us, just ignoring us. We felt like we were treated differently compared to the other customers within our dinner stay, and it felt like we were rushed for a good portion of our meal. If the service was better, then I would rate this higher, but unfortunately, they didn't honor our special day like they did to the other people.

My Omakase experience at Q Sushi was fantastic for $99, accompanied by a wonderful selection of sakes. I particularly enjoyed the generous portions and creative flavor combinations with fresh fish. Some of my personal favorites included the spinach appetizer with Ikura, flavorful mushroom miso soup, a sashimi platter featuring an Uni shooter, and a 4-piece nigiri with spot prawn and Otoro. The restaurant's laid back ambiance and friendly service also made this dining experience enjoyable!

Um. The BEST Sushi I've ever had. Easily the best in Chicago. You usually can't get this high quality of sushi unless you're on a coastal city. But this place even beat out the best sushi I've had on the West Coast, and that's saying something. The fatty toro melted in my mouth. The salmon maki made me want to weep tears of ecstasy. Food was delicious but I’m leaving a negative review because the restaurant denied my wife’s disability accommodation which is illegal and violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Here’s the story: my wife has an invisible disability which requires her to have a medical alert service animal. It’s a small dog that is easy to transport. He doesn’t “look like” a typical service dog. The service animal is still crucial in a medical emergency for my wife’s condition. We came in and at first they said we couldn’t dine inside because of “the pet.” Her service animal is NOT a pet. He’s medical equipment, the same as a wheelchair or oxygen container. My wife told the hostess and manager that they couldn’t deny him (the service animal) entry, and they said “let me talk to the manager.” They then lied to us and said there wasn’t any space inside (there was) and that we’d have to wait for the patio to open up an outdoor table. We gladly waited and the food was absolutely excellent.
However, the restaurant lied to us and then denied us entry into the restaurant because of a medical service animal. I know that some people don’t like dogs, and maybe they don’t “believe” that someone has a “real disability” if they haven’t met anyone with a disability that you cannot see. Still, this is NOT OKAY. People typically don’t lie or fib about these things just to bring an animal (that would be illegal). So in the end the restaurant treated us with respect and consideration while dining just like any customer. But underneath it all they lied to us and denied us entry with the service animal. Picture what it would be like to deny someone with a wheelchair space in your restaurant, this was the same thing. I hope next time you will do better and treat people with disabilities more fairly. You actually don’t have the right to deny someone with a service animal a space to eat at your business.

We had a really great time trying their omakase testing menu which was around $90/person. The only downside is for reserving a table you have to reserve with a credit card, but they don’t charge until you leave the meal. I believe the cancellation fee is around $45 so definitely don’t go unless you’re committed.
The fish for the sushi options were very fresh and the flavors were very good. They were able to accommodate for allergies as well.
We have tried other omakase places and while it wasn’t the best we have been to, for the price, we felt it was extremely reasonable for the quality and amount they served.

Easily the best sushi I've had in Chicago. I've had both a la carte and omakase experiences and the service, freshness, and flavor is always top notch. The Zuke Sake Starter is a must try. We got the chef’s tasting menu for $90 (excl gratuity and taxes) which started off pretty strong with some delicious appetizers but tapered off in flavor towards the end with rolls that should have been the star of the tasting menu. Plating, presentation, service were all 5 star. Hamachi with dehydrated corn and coconut sauce was the standout.

The omakase tasting menu was sensational. Great flavors that included a mix of salty, sweet, acidic, and spicy. While all tasting menus are expensive, the quality of the food and the quantity of the food was well worth it.

Had the Omakase for two, one premium sake pairing and one regular sake pairing for a birthday. The place was smaller than expected, and more of a laid-back vibe than a upscale vibe. I expected a more luxurious setting because of the price tag ($350 before tips). The staff was friendly; food and drinks were good but again, does not match the price tag in my opinion. My girlfriend enjoyed it very much, though. She enjoyed the staff's banters as well as the food and the sake, which was fantastic to see.

I loved my experience here! I went for my birthday dinner and was wanting a more lowkey place. This spot is tucked away and at night it was a little difficult to find, but being inside you're welcomed right away with the staff. The chefs were hilarious and personable, making for a very memorable time. Their selection of sake was great as well and was pleasantly surprised at how many of the pairings I enjoyed with the chef's selection of choices. Came here for $125 15-piece omakase. Great hospitality, amazing vibe and people, incredibly fresh ingredients… it is an unforgettable experience.
But one thing that bothers me is the sushi rice—it’s not holding together very well, lacking that stickiness which creates more complex taste.
But no matter what, great taste, unforgettable experience, and I’ll for sure come back.

*Take out order*
Had four pieces of nigiri, the salmon maki and the mushroom miso soup which were all of high quality. The nigiri pieces were very small and the maki was on the smaller side. Overall the portions were smaller than any sushi restaurant I have ever experienced. Not a bad thing in and of itself. However, the price/value isn't great. I can't recall ever feeling like I needed another meal after spending $50 at a sushi restaurant.
Maybe dining in and having the omakase is the way to go.
For the takeout order three and a half plus stars.

Car caught on fire while we were walking down the street, cops told us to leave the area and they let us inside with some other people, and gave us some free beers. Good place, good people. Will be coming back again sometime!!

The Omakase is great, a few of the pieces of Nigiri are really special! The kitchen staff wants to have a good time and include their guests in the good time. Great for a date night!

Tried it for the first time and will be coming back. The environment is lovely and the gentlemen who were filling my to go and preparing my food were really nice and fun. They suggested a few good maki's, glad to have them as a neighbor!
I tried the yellowtail maki, which had complex flavor. Salmon nigiri was great because they use high quality fish. I loved the mushroom miso soup, too!

The 7-course chef's tasting menu was delicious!

Easiest 5 star review I've ever given. My gf and I each had the mushroom miso soup, shared the scallops starter, yellowtail maki and tuna maki. This is definitely not an average sushi place: The flavor and texture of the fish is well-emphasized and complimented, subtly, by the other ingredients. Oftentimes, I find that typical sushi rolls hide or overpower the flavor of the fish. Not here, this place is definitely worth a visit if you are a foodie or just appreciate great sushi. Their mushroom miso soup is a must have as well. The server was most excellent and the food came out quickly. The place is small, chic, and laid back. Acoustics inside could use a little help, but it's forgivable, given the excellent quality of food and service. We will definitely be back and hope to try their tasting menu sometime!

This place is the greatest!!! Came here with my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday and had the 15-course Omakase along with the standard sake pairings (thanks to some persuasion from Mark! Which I now highly recommend!). I cannot say enough good things about this place. The food was absolutely amazing, and so fresh. Everything was perfect! The flavor combinations were so delicious! The fact that the price is so low makes it such a steal. Not only were chef Steven and Mark beyond AMAZING during our experience, but the entire staff was so nice and really made you feel like you were right at home with great friends. Hands down the greatest restaurant I’ve ever been to sushi or no sushi. I genuinely cannot wait until the next time we visit.

Would give this place 10 stars if I could. The omakase experience was great and Steven, our Chef, was extremely engaging. Looking forward to my next trip to Q!

Came here for Valentine's Day and had a fantastic 8 course table meal. Some of the best sushi I have ever had, and it was very fun to have it delivered in courses. I clearly have very little experience dining at nice restaurants, as I mistook the spinach dish for a large piece of sushi and attempted to eat in a single bite. The chef saw me and was laughing hysterically--he followed it up by buying us a shot of Sake. Overall, it was a very memorable experience and we will be back the next time we are looking to celebrate a special occasion.

Nice little bar and sushi spot. The sushi is inedible and made with extra care. You will actually taste the difference from other sushi places. The hosts chat with you and take care of your needs. Drink are nice. Only one problem: dang this place can get expensive. Considering you will never get full (you'll spend 60 dollars plus on just a couple rolls if you're hungry).
My suggestion for management: can you add cheaper options like tempura or just rice or French fries? Larger groups may not all want two small fish and a drink.

One of the best new sushi spots in Chicago! I honestly mean it. Up there with Dokku and Momotaro (2 of my other favorites). Find a reason to check this place out if you love sushi! Their fish is beyond fresh and their makis range from classic to unique, but the menu is smaller which leads me to believe they make everything really well. Ton of Sake too, though I had some delicious Japanese Whiskey. Check this place out!

I came when there was literally no one there, early in the evening and was rushed out the door inspite of dropping like $100 here. The food was great, but the server really made me feel like there was a fire in the place and I couldn’t relax and finish my sake. He asked to bring the check even though I had a full glass of sake at my table and had just finished eating. I wasn’t asked if I wanted dessert (which I did want). And then he told me there were other reservations and asked if I could leave.
I would have had a more comfortable time eating at McDonald’s. If that’s the experience here they really aught to cut there prices in half

Went here for the omakase experience on a Wednesday night and had a WONDERFUL time! We were promptly seated and served water and drinks from Mark who was very attentive and funny. Steve was our chef and was a pleasure to watch him work. All of the food was delicious favorites were the black cod, uni, tuna set and chocolate unagi. Sake pairing was very good and affordable. Overall, great omakase experience would highly recommend!!!

Omakase review. Worth every penny. Fish that tasted as fresh as possible with exceptional sake pairings offered. Too hard to pick a favorite piece and I'm sure it rotates constantly.
The chefs are fantastic and add a beautiful energy to the experience. Not stuffy or overly buttoned up as you may expect with omakase.
If an unforgettable sushi experience is on your to-do list, make this your first stop.

**Take-out Order Review**
We ordered take out, and got the platter for two. Fish was very fresh, tender, and tasty. Rolls were extremely fresh and flavorful. The mushroom miso soup was one of my favorites, not too salty and was a great way to end the meal.
The only down side to the meal was that 9 out of our 14 pieces were sashimi, and five were nigiri. It was just a lot of plain, raw fish (and usually with sashimi you get sushi rice on the side, but here that’s not an option). In the future it would be cool if, for the platters, you could choose nigiri over sashimi / sashimi over nigiri / or a mix of both rather than that choice being the chef’s choice.
Overall, for the price, you get a lot of food and it’s high quality.

After leaving, my partner and I agreed that this was the best sushi experience we’ve ever had. Everything we had on the menu was almost absurdly delicious. The scallops were as sweet and the fat on a perfectly grilled ribeye. Will definitely return for more.

Not your average/traditional sushi Omakase experience. The chefs like to have a good time! You will learn about them as well as be comfortable enough to share your own experiences in anything to them while having great food.
Be prepared for their "special water" that they may offer. Make reservations! Hard to get a spot especially on the weekend!

I can’t express how much I love this place. The staff are so wonderful. I’ve been lucky enough to do omakase two times. WORTH EVERY PENNY. The perfect amount Of food. And the chefs are so fun-! I’m so happy to have this place so close to me. I’ve also had most of the maki rolls and a few bowls. It’s just so good. It was my friends birthday tonight, And they made it the best night. Get the same flight if you can! Incredible.

I cannot recommend Q more highly! And I particularly recommend going for the Omakase. Each dish was so fresh and inventive, a heavenly selection. What made our visit even more special was getting to know the chef/owner and all the incredible staff who make the experience one of a kind. I can’t wait to go back!

Best omakase experience I had so far. Food was amazing and so were the chefs. Definitely would recommend for a date or an anniversary.

Food and service were fantastic. Having had many sushi rolls at places across the city, that have extravagant ingredients and a huge selection of rolls, we were worried their limited selection may not be up to snuff.... How we were wrong. Their flavors were masterfully created. Flavors that built as you ate. Flavors that beautifully mixed earth and sea. Every bite was an experience. The texture and freshness were extraordinarily superb for a neighborhood restaurant. The servers and chefs were friendly, kind, and extremely pleasant to interact with.
The only reason I dinged from 5 to 4 star is the price. It is pricey for the neighborhood and we were a bit surprised. $12 beers and wine may be a tough sell in a neighborhood surrounded by Lincoln square and Andersonville. But frankly the flavors, food, and service were worth it, if un expectantly so. The flavors weren't huge, slap you in the face flavors, they were subtle crescendos of deliciousnous.
Would definitely recommend, just don't be surprised by a bit of sticker shock.

I’ve been here 2x and both have been great experiences! The food is fantastic and the staff is a ton of fun. They gave everyone in the restaurant a shot (who was of age, and they asked about driving) highly recommend it. Sitting at the bar is a really great time
