Ask for Charlie! He was awesome and so was Lin! My husband and I stopped in tonight for dinner. Service was amazing and the food was delicious. If you love truffle, caviar, and deviled eggs - try their deviled eggs! I had the blackened snapper and I will be coming back for that same meal 🙌 Everyone was so kind. Thank God for the valet. Easy in and out.

Elevated, fine dining located on E. Wacker Dr. and Michigan Ave. Proper dress and etiquette are required. We made dinner reservations here this Friday night because my husband wanted a good steak.
They have inside and outside seating based on your preference (Seems that the patio seating is more relaxed than indoors... indoors is on the second floor).
As stater, we had their 'Chop Chop Salad'. As entree, we tried their '8 oz Filet, topped with Bleu Cheese Crust' and 'Chicken Entree' with a side of 'Truffle Mac & Cheese', accompanied by a glass of wine. The steak was tender and simply delicious.
The restaurant is beautiful, with great views of the river and city.
Our server, Gabriel, was very attentive and helpful with the menu. He made sure to check up on us often. The manager came to our table to greet us and make sure we were satisfied with our visit.
Overall, we had an excellent dinner experience here and enjoyed a delicious steak.

Our recent visit to Ocean Prime was made exceptional by our server, Andrew. His knowledge of the menu, attentive service, and engaging conversation set the tone for a wonderful evening.
As soon as we were seated, Andrew introduced us to the evening's offerings and recommended some standout dishes. He started us off with a delightful popcorn appetizer seasoned with truffle and herbs, which was a unique and delicious start to our meal.
For the appetizers, Andrew suggested the goat cheese ravioli, which turned out to be absolutely divine. The creamy goat cheese filling, paired with a lemony sauce and mushrooms, created a memorable starter. The shrimp cocktail was not only fresh but also impressively presented, adding a touch of elegance to the meal. Another pleasant surprise was the calamari, served with a sweet chili sauce. This unexpected combination elevated the dish, making the calamari tender and flavorful rather than the usual rubbery texture found elsewhere.
Andrew also recommended the lobster bisque, which we decided to split. The bisque was rich and creamy, with juicy, tender pieces of lobster that made each spoonful delightful.
For the main course, I ventured to try the snapper for the first time, another of Andrew's excellent recommendations. The fish was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and moist, flavorful meat inside. The accompanying sides of creamed spinach and jalapeño au gratin, which we ordered as half portions thanks to Andrew's suggestion, were delicious complements to the dish, rounding out a satisfying and well-balanced meal.
No meal is complete without dessert, and Ocean Prime did not disappoint. The peanut butter chocolate dessert was simply the best I have ever had. The rich chocolate paired with the creamy peanut butter was a heavenly combination that left a lasting impression.
Throughout the evening, Andrew's attentive and friendly service ensured we had a seamless dining experience. His ability to recommend dishes that perfectly suited our tastes was impressive and greatly appreciated. The thoughtful suggestion to split the soup and order half portions of the sides allowed us to enjoy a variety of flavors without feeling overwhelmed.
Overall, Ocean Prime provided an exquisite dining experience with outstanding food, impeccable service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal.

This place was fun! It’s an upscale seafood and steakhouse. The food was overpriced, but still delicious. We loved the scallops - they were smooth like butter. The teriyaki salmon was next level - must’ve been the butter. Our favorite, though, was the warm butter cake. Legit one of the best desserts I’ve ever had - I couldn’t believe it!

This is a very mixed review... while I was very impressed with the Ocean part of OP, I was equally disappointed by the Prime side. We started with the Scallops and Primerib over a bed of mashed potatoes, very good favor and well balanced... next was the entrées... the twin lobster tails with asparagus were great... the lobster was tender, buttery smooth and well prepared, and the large asparagus was snappy yet tender with nice flavor.
On the other hand, the double-boned lamb chops were charred, poorly and unevenly cooked... I eat mine, med rare and one set was definitely cooked med-well... when the waitress stopped by i pointed it out to her, she offered to have it replaced. unfortunately, i was given a single lamb chop as a replacement by the manager... go figure. I wasn't going to say anything, but our waitress stepped in and informed him of his mistake... he then proceeded to bring another double that I ended up taking home... I like desserts, so I had to make room for the 10 layer carrot cake, which I may say was pretty darn good... it was supposed to be comp'd due to the chop mistakes, but I noticed later I was charged for it gf... But i think the most insulting was waking up this morning and noticing more issues with the chop replacement... Not only was it unevenly cooked, the middle was raw, and it was not the same type of doubled-bone... guess I really don't know anything about chops...🤨
If you want anything on the seafood side, you may find a few good items... on the other hand, if you want turf or your intelligents not to be insulted, consider somewhere else.

Anniversary Dinner
We visited Ocean Prime Chicago for our anniversary dinner, hoping to try something new for a special occasion.Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations.
Seating Mishap: Despite open window tables, we were seated in a high-traffic area, which felt impersonal for an anniversary celebration. We later noticed servers setting up beautiful window tables with rose petals and anniversary cards for other couples. Disappointingly, our reservation mentioning our anniversary wasn't acknowledged with any special touches.
Food Issues: The food itself had mixed reviews. The lobster mac and cheese was delicious, but my seabass was marred by an excessive amount of truffle vinaigrette that turned out to be mostly oil. It ended up upsetting my stomach for a few days. My husband's steak was also cooked incorrectly, arriving more well-done than the requested medium-rare.
Service Inconsistencies: The wait staff seemed stretched thin, with slow service in getting the meal started and clearing plates in a timely manner.
Missed Opportunity: A waiter came to
Say Happy Anniversary to a couple that got seated at one of the nice tables. They were confused and said it’s not their anniversary. The restaurant staff realized they were supposed to sit us there and our waiter brought us a champagne glass of ginger ale to make up I assume for their mistake. It solidified the impression that Ocean Prime dropped the ball on our special occasion.
Overall: While the lobster mac and cheese was a highlight, the overall experience at Ocean Prime Chicago did not live up to its reputation or price point. With inattentive service, seating issues, and food inconsistencies, we left feeling it wasn't the celebratory dinner we were hoping for. We would likely return to our usual favorite restaurants for a special occasion based on this experience.

Overall, Ocean Prime was amazing. The steak was well seasoned and cook to perfection. A bit pricey for my range, but if you are looking for a great steak this is definitely a good spot to check out. I recommend the ribeye and New York strip cuts, at the med/med rare level.

If I could rate this place a 10 star I would. Hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve been too. I love me a good steak and I ordered there filet mignon and usually I can never finish it but that was so good and I ate all of it. The service was phenomenal too. Our waiter was really nice. You must try this if you’re in the Chicagoland area or coming from out of state to visit!!!

We celebrated our 7th anniversary and our last before our wedding and the service went beyond expectations to make our dinner special. The seafood tower and the twin lobster main were easily the best I’ve had in my life. The warm butter cake was phenomenal. I haven’t stopped raving about this place to anyone who will listen. We will be back again next year when we return to Chicago!

The restaurant has a good selection of seafood, but I don't like seafood, so I went with a steak. The steak was very very good, juicy and delicious. For drink I had pineapple picante, which was more on the sweet side and spicy! I loved it... All the side dishes we ordered were very fresh and delicious as well.
The atmosphere was amazing, I loved our booth by the windows and staff were very nice and knowledgeable.

Nice Views and Atmosphere. Snapper and Sea Bass were Great! Service was ok, a bit on the slower side , although not terribly slow. I dine often in the area at similar and higher price points and wouldn’t put it in my top 5 to revisit, maybe top 25. Unless I’m at the London house for pure convenience.

Darrin, our server was remarkable. His brand of customer service was the kind that was probably common decades ago and only in very exclusive hushed interior restaurants today. He not only remembered my dearest friend from a year ago but remembered her mocktail bc she was 1 month away from delivery! He brought her the original version of Bubbles & Berries and two of the 6 of us ladies joined her. I highly recommend that cocktail! So fun with all the bubbling and smoking coming up from the glass. See photos. We enjoyed both the Tuna & Steak Tartare as well as the fried Calamari for appetizers. For entrées- the Ribeye cooked to the perfect temp for "Medium" and had a wonderful char, the Sea Bass, grouper & Scallops were perfectly cooked, tender & the fish was flaky and flavorful. The sides enjoyed were Jalapeño Au Gratin, Roasted Brussels Spouts & Asparagus. We were all quite unable to imagine eating another bite, but a birthday is not a birthday without dessert! The Butter Cake was amazing and came adorned with a candle, it was moist, chewy, and warm! The Lemon Sorbet was refreshing & tasty, as was their 10 Layer Carrot cake, Crème Brûlée & Valhrona chocolate tart. Best dining experience I (any of us) have had in a long while. They made her day special and that is priceless!

I just experienced perhaps the worst service I’ve ever received at what is supposed to be an upscale restaurant. I only had a glass of wine at the bar because I was simply ignored by the bartender. Meanwhile, the manager, Trent, chatted with his friends at the bar. I waited 20 minutes to pay my bill.

Ocean Prime in Chicago exceeded expectations with its impeccable execution of both food and drink. The ribeye and filet mignon were masterfully prepared, cooked to perfection, and rich with flavor. The cocktails struck the perfect balance—neither too weak nor overpowering, but full of depth and taste. What truly captivated us was the butter cake, served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, accompanied by a rich cup of coffee. This dessert was so exceptional that we returned the following evening just to indulge once more. An unforgettable dining experience.

Occasion: 13th Anniversary & first time visit.
The food alone is the sole reason we'd dine here again. The service from our waitress Denise was unwelcoming to begin with. We had to ask the first gentleman who brought our water to place our order after waiting a while. He kindly mentioned he would find our server. She then came to our table, dragging her feet and throwing her arms in our direction saying "what will it be". No introduction to begin with, no questioning to whether it's our first time at Ocean Prime, or what we are celebrating.
Everyone up to her, was extremely nice and welcoming. We were excited to say the least to celebrate our 13th Anniversary with warm service, and exceptional food. After waiting a long time for our server Denise to come around, and her unpleasant introduction, we were only hoping the food wouldn't let us down. Which it didn't!
Food: Oysters, Lobster Bisque, Teriyaki Salmon, Lobster Linguini, Creme Brulee & Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie
Drinks: Bourbon & Smoked
The chefs here deserve all the credit because the food was phenomenal!

I would’ve given probably two stars, but I’m giving five stars, simply because how the manager, Jason Brown at the Chicago location, responded to my terrible dinner experience. My Honey and I had just gotten off our flight, drove to and checked into our downtown hotel and wanted to get something to eat and Ocean Prime was right across the water so we walked over. I always have a wonderful experience with OP whatever city I’m in. I usually get the shrimp sauté or whitefish but This time, I chose filet mignon. I like mine thick cut not butterflied. I just like a nice thick, medium well steak. This steak had to go back-and-forth four times Because of the way they prepared it. It was actually terrible. My Honey was eating his dinner without me and I was starving. Our waiter was absolutely wonderful and also the manager she was good, but to me not good enough as I believe our whole meal should’ve been comped for the Terrible time I had just trying to have a steak like I wanted it. His meal was great, and the sides were wonderful as usual, but The steak just didn’t live up to my expectations. It won’t deter me from dining because after all, OP is one of my favorites.
So after we got home I did decide to call the corporate office and they actually got me connected to, Jason Brown. He was absolutely phenomenal and he Compensated me and let me know that my concerns and experience was valid. OP is one of my favorite restaurants ever and I will continue to go and I certainly appreciate the class that he demonstrated. Thank you, Jason. You really made my day and I will continue to tell everyone about You and how you took great care of My Honey and I. ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟🌟

The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere are all top notch. The people could not be nicer or more helpful. The prices are not cheap, but they are in line with the experience. Easily searchable on google maps, but strangely absent if you're just poking around in the app. Maybe not easy to maneuver, but accessible via their own elevator.

The scallops were overcooked but all to varying degrees. For over $12 per scallop you'd expect them to be cooked well or at least uniformly. Overall it is quite pricey for, at best, decent seafood. The service was nice, attentive and knowledgeable. But there is much better and cheaper seafood in Chicago

We had dinner here on Sunday night. The restaurant was very busy but the atmosphere was excellent. Charles our waiter was excellent and took great care of us. We had a table right next to the window and had a great view while we dined. We both had the "surf & turf" special. Not only was this a really great deal, the meal was phenomenal. The wine selection is wonderful and we were able to pick a really nice Merlot for the meal. Finally, we had the 10 layer carrot cake and the warm butter cake to end our wonderful meal. I Highly recommend dining here.

Charlie was excellent. OP is very accommodating for Gluten Free. The short rib and scallop starter was delicious. Wish it was an entree. The scallop entree wasn't as good as we remembered from a couple years ago. Risotto was too al dente. The English peas tasted raw and the flavor wasn't balanced. The grouper entree was fabulous! I've been fortunate to travel and enjoy food and hospitality from across the world. I have never enjoyed more expert, attentive and hospitable service than I have at Ocean Prime (courtesy of their bartender Andrew). Not only did he whip up custom drinks that conformed uniquely and perfectly to my palate, he demonstrated the depth and breadth of his knowledge and gifts by suggesting starters, entrees and desserts (even suggesting preparations and side pairings) to ensure every sip, every morsel and every moment was as thoroughly enjoyed as could possibly be.

They did their best to address the situation and I am grateful for that. I ordered the tuna. The tuna was okay, the best part of the main dish was the garlic mashed potatoes. I am a big fan of tuna and it is often my go too, this was good. The carrot cake was awesome. Save room for that.

25 ⭐️ if I could give it. We went for dinner on a Sunday evening. Absolutely amazing food and staff. Adam was our server and he went above and beyond to make our experience outstanding. The rest of the staff was also great. They all worked together and u could tell they like what they do. I Would go back any time we are in the Chicago area.

Nice place for a business dinner for a group of 8-10. Several sushi appetizers for the spot. Entrées chiffres mainly is seafood and meat fare, all with good presentation and generous portions.
Desserts were shareable size and I in think I was about to try a tablespoon of each of the warm butter cake, layered carrot cake, and chocolate peanut butter cake -- all of which were moist and scrumptious for the few bites I rewarded myself with.

Basic. What you would expect from a chain. It was decent but generic steakhouse flavors. Everything is ok, but doesn't stand out. I ordered a pound of chilled Alaskan King Crab and the pieces were thin and janky, some were frozen icy and crunchy, none were prepped for easy removal. I've never had King Crab be crunchy from being icy. Usually I order bone in ribeye but their ribeye was boneless. I can't speak to the quality of the meat or preparation. However, King Crab should have been the easiest thing to not mess up. At the end of the meal the server disappeared for 15 minutes and we had to ask a different person for the check. With how many great modern steakhouses are in Chicago, I would never go back here. The lobster bisque was good and the sides were ok. The desserts were actually pretty good. Fortunately it was a work dinner and I didn't have to pay for a mediocre meal.

Great place to dine! First time coming here this past Sunday and our waiter was fantastic! Food was superb and drinks were perfect! Only issue I had was the lack of proper attire I noticed at the restaurant. Website clearly states no lettered t-shirts or even ball caps yet I saw just that. I even saw a teenager with what looked to me like pajama shorts and slides (sandals). This place is too classy and to see subpar attire is a tad concerning. Why bother writing down what we should or shouldn’t wear on their website if it’s not addressed when people don’t adhere to it?

We were treated to a fine meal here by a consultant. Food was excellent starting with the fresh bread and pretezel rolls. We started with some nice cocktails and skip over salads and apps and went straight to seafood meals which all come with sides. If you get steaks, it's ala cart with the sides. Food was excellent - Chiliean Sea Bass, Lobster linguine, Grouper, Scallops. We didn't need any sides but our host ordered a bunch - mushrooms, corn, smoked tatertots, brussel sprouts. All were excellent but we definitely ordered too much. Each serving would have been enough for two people. We also ordered two desserts for the table which was plenty as, like the sides, are served in the oversize bowls. Great place for a special occasion.

Ordered the blackened salmon with French onion soup. I was with a group of 10 people for a birthday in an adult family. The French onion soup was served before the salads….which I found odd. The soup was very basic - it tasted exactly like one of the store bought “kits” to make French onion and it was heated up in a microwave. They noticed I didn’t really touch it and I was too polite to say what the real reason was so mumbled something. They ended up comping it, I found out later. The service was adequate, but not great. It may have been due to the size of our table but it was a reservation. The atmosphere was nice, though a bit on the dark side where it was a bit difficult to read the menu. The blackened salmon was delicious and prepared well. The compliments that were on the dish were tasteless and did nothing for it - it would have been better even for the presentation if they had been left off.
At the end of the dinner we were all surprised that they did not take cash. Okay, didn’t see or hear of that anywhere. This was a bit of an issue with some in our group as they were not expecting that.
Been to much better restaurants here in Chicago.

Absolutely phenomenal service and food, I don’t know how they don’t have a Michelin star. The staff are incredible, the food is amazing, it’s not cheap, but it’s absolutely worth it. I’ve been coming here for a while, and it’s always an amazing experience. Thank you all for being such a quality establishment.

Had a fabulous dinner the weekend of St. Patrick’s Day (bless those people working that weekend in general). Nicole was our server and she was absolutely wonderful with her food recommendations and attentiveness. Food was delicious, drinks were great and atmosphere/views were amazing.

Every dish was served to perfection. The atmosphere and views of the city are outstanding. Would definitely come back again and get the sea scallops, seafood Cobb salad and creme brulee again. The ravioli app was one of the best apps I have ever had. The presentation of the shrimp cocktail with dry ice was so much fun to watch.

This restaurant has it ALL from the location, views, ambiance/music, drinks, food AND especially the service! The front desk host (I hate I forgot her name) was SO accommodating and helpful in assisting my party with surprising my best friend for her birthday. Our waiter Darren was AMAZING. He was so attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and just overall GREAT!! I had the salmon and they were able to blacken it for me along with the sticky rice that was SO good and a side of Brussels sprouts. EVERYTHING was top tier. We will definitely be back there again!

Amazing! I loved the food and wine here. Shrimp.l cocktail to start, lobster tail main and a delightful strawberry desert, all accompanied by the best wine selection I have found in Chicago. Where else in the world can you find Chateau d'Ychem Sauternes for such a reasonable price? Simply awesome. And the service is simply world class

Best steakhouse in Chicago (and I know that is saying a lot!)!

Absolutely brilliantly good food here. One of the best steaks I've ever had. However, the server told us "we didn't need to see the bill" as our company had already paid. We insisted on seeing the bill and saw she added 2 extra bottles of wine to our bill! Rather than admit to a mistake, she doubled down with "I opened 2 more bottles without telling anyone"... Which is way worse! Plus, the whole table agreed we only drank 2. That's a $200 dollar addition to our bill that no one asked for, nor consumed! She reluctantly removed the false charge. So please come here for the food, but CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY!

The food and ambiance is amazing. The service, however, was a different. Be mindful that having reservations only seems to guarantee you will be seated, not served.
I was celebrating a monument birthday as first time diners and had listed this in our reservation.
It took 20-25minutes for a server TO GREET US after we had been seated. I was literally about to get up to leave with my date when a server finally came to our table. We were ready to order food but the server zipped away the second we told him our drink order and we had to wait another 20minutes until he returned with drinks and "take our appetizers". At this point, we had been seated for 45m and the server was not trying to take our food order. We had to stop him from running off once we told him our appetizer.
Major red flag - during all of our interactions with our server, he seemed to only speak to me (male) and deflect eyesight and communication with my partner (female).
Minor, but the busser removed the bread while we were still eating from it.
Barely any table touches from our server and zero from management when management was visibly doing table touches around the dining room.
Any display of apologies for waits or proper acknowledgement of both parties were not given.
The food was great. If you want to receive service, I'd highly recommend somewhere else. For the value of the meal, the service was unsightly and that alone prevents me from recommending this restaurant to anyone.

The food and service was really good. Salads were fresh, the teriyaki salmon was and the grouper were good. The jalapeño au gratin was amazing! I’m going back just for that. And the carrot cake was really good too. The restaurant has a really nice ambience with great views.

Visited during restaurant week and had a wonderful experience. Wheat, oat, barley, rye, and malt allergies here so my options tend to be a little more limited at restaurants.
The bar staff made me an amazing cucumber cocktail (with a new to me potato vodka), and the waitress checked with kitchen about a few ingredients to be sure everything was safe. Everyone made me feel 100% comfortable and the food was delicious.
It’s also worth noting that my husband’s steak came out a little over cooked for his liking, and they replaced it in only a few minutes. Service was phenomenal.
