I got the Dan Dan Noodles with pork and added beef and a lamb skewer. I had hot tea due to a sore throat
The food was ok. Not the best. I personally think it was just the choice i made. I wanted to try the Biang Biang Noodle since it had great reviews but i couldnt wrap my mind around tomato and egg with my noodles
Great atmosphere. Great, attentive servers
The beef was very tender but also very fatty

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️The Mala Spicy Pot with Lamb:
Was an absolute flavor explosion! The heat was intense but perfectly balanced. The lamb was tender and well-seasoned. If you love a good kick of spice, this dish will not disappoint. The variety of fresh vegetables and spices added great texture and depth, making every bite a new experience.
Definitely a must-try for anyone looking for authentic, bold flavors. They give a very good portion size as well!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Biang Biang Noodles:
The Biang Biang noodles were good, but they didn’t quite have the bold flavor I was hoping for. The texture of the noodles was excellent—thick, chewy, and perfectly cooked—but the sauce lacked the depth and punch I was expecting from such a popular dish. It could have used a bit more seasoning or spice to really bring everything together. Overall, still enjoyable, but just missing that extra kick to make it truly stand out.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beef Flat Bread:
The beef flatbread was okay, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The bread was nicely toasted and the beef was tender, but the flavors were a bit underwhelming. It wasn’t as flavorful as I expected. I’d definitely try the lamb next time to see if it has more depth and seasoning. Overall, it was decent, but I think the lamb might offer a better experience.

I was taken back to my college days in China, eating lamb skewers and baked flat bread at a street food stall. This is high praise, since I remember the time fondly.
Cumin lamb skewers are pictured, and were delicious. The cumin lamb flatbread 孜然羊肉夹摸, was what really took me back. If in Chicago it’s a must try.

Fantastic food. Ordered:
1. Cumin Lamb Flatbread: Highly Recommend
2. Shrimp Tempura: I haven’t had better shrimp tempura anywhere else. The outer coating was crunch and bready. Also loved the simple sauce they served with it. One could inhale it.
3. Biang Biang Noodles with Pork: Were recommended by Mei who hosted us. Usually served with beef but we asked for pork and they do serve it as an option at no additional cost.
I definitely foresee eating here again. You also get fortune cookies when you’re about to pay. A nice touch!

There are a LOT of options, and MAYBE we just picked the wrong things... We picked pretty popular American-Chinese dishes. We ordered shrimp and broccoli with chicken/shrimp fried rice, chicken and broccoli, orange chicken, and chicken egg rolls.
My daughter tasted her orange chicken and refused to eat it. She said it was disgusting. We asked if they could add a sauce to it to change it so our daughter would eat it, and they said no.
My chicken and broccoli had a beef sauce on it, which made it taste weird.. Edible, but not a great flavor..
The table was sticky. So it wasn't pleasant to eat at. For soda, they had coke in a can with a cup of ice to pour it over.
I am not sure how well our server understood us, and the menu was only able to be QR Code scanned and looked at on the phone. Unfortunately. My husband's phone was dead, so we had to all look at my 1 phone and weren't able to go through the whole menu as there were a LOT of options. I am not opposed to that many options. In fact, I enjoy having options. It just would have been easy to see them all on an actual menu that could be flipped through. Where each one of us at the table had our own menus.
It was conveniently located. The prices were decent. They had nice sized portions for the price.

Here's what I recommend:
- Lamb Cumin Flatbread Sandwich
- Chili Chicken ** (their best dish)
- Sushi Lunch Special (bargain at $14 for 2 rolls + soup)
- Spicy Green Beans
- Dan Dan Noodles
I don't know how great their American Chinese dishes are.

If you're looking for standard American Chinese look elsewhere. They specialize in Xi'an cuisine, it's literally the name. This is what you order: Any of the skewers, any hand-pulled noodle dish (particularly the biang biang noodles 5* this might be my favorite noodle dish ever), flat breads with cumin beef/lamb, or just basically anything under the Xi'an section of the menu. Very Asian style of service, very hands off. Weird chopsticks.
I just want to emphasize that I regularly dream about those biang biang noodles they are that good. If I were to base my rating on those alone it would be a 5 star. Get you some.

I’ve been many Xi’an restaurants but the food in this one was the worst, not authentic at all, not even close.

Pleasent service and decent flavor, but the chicken was undercooked, chewy, and went into the trash 😔. Noodles were all stuck together in a big clump. Rice was the only thing i ate all of... i dont like giving negative reviews, but hopefully, this helps them change the quality of the food served.

My gripe with this place is its not consistent. Ill place an order on an sunday and itll be the most amazing food ever. The kind you end up craving for days. Then you place an order the following week and its dry, greasy, amd the sauce has jello pieces because it wasn’t mixed properly. Its really a gamble eating here. 50/50 chance the food will be good.
When its good its good.
When its bad its bad.

I was looking for good Chinese cuisine near the loop, and this is the best you'll find!
While they offer the more comfortable/familiar Chinese-American fare, they also offer more diverse and authentic dishes. If you're willing to try those, your curiosity will be rewarded. I tried the pickled cabbage/fish soup, and it was some of the best soup I've had. Look up the full website menu-the variety of dishes available is mind boggling. This will be my go to place for Chinese cuisine over lunch break.
The servers we extra attentive, the food was served quickly, the servings plenty and the price excellent considering the quality.

The worst Chinese food, or food in general, we have ever eaten. Ordered General Tso and orange chicken and both dishes came looking and tasting the exact same. Everything was extremely oily and had an old oil smell and taste. The chicken was mostly breading and chicken itself looked like dark meat but had a subtle unpleasant smell. Crab rangoon was horrible - whatever filling that was it was very different from any Crab rangoon we have ever eaten. It was thick, heavy and lathered all over the mouth leaving a thick film. The egg and spring rolls were covered in oil. The fried rice was all oil, too. Bottom line: we ate a few bites, I felt ill from the slightly unpleasant smell and oil, and threw out 90 percent of the food. Never lost money faster than this. Oh, we also got skewers and pork dumplings with soup - the pork stunk so unpleasantly, we took a bite each and down the trash. Honestly, worst experience of my life, at least that I can recall right now.

Attention friends, do not eat here if you park in chinatown parking lot and need a validation. They claimed to have the validation outside but in fact their validation machine is broken and can not provide coupons for parking. Spoke to the owner and he ask me to handle the issue by myself. Food is good, but only if you do not need parking validations, otherwise you need to spend ~5x price for parking.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this sushi restaurant, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of delightful. The restaurant's specialty in American Chinese cuisine caught my attention, and I was eager to try their unique offerings.
The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, with its modern and stylish decor. The soft lighting and comfortable seating created a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. The restaurant's attention to detail in creating an enjoyable dining environment was evident.
Now, let's talk about the sushi. The menu offered a variety of rolls, both classic and signature creations. I decided to start with the avocado roll, a simple yet delicious choice. The creamy avocado paired perfectly with the seasoned rice, creating a delightful combination of flavors and textures. The roll was expertly rolled and sliced, making it easy to pick up with chopsticks.
For my main course, I couldn't resist trying one of their signature rolls. The Blue Fin roll caught my eye, and it did not disappoint. The presentation of the roll was stunning, with vibrant colors and precise cuts. Each bite was a burst of flavors, with the fresh fish, crisp vegetables, and tangy sauce coming together harmoniously. The attention to detail in the creation of this roll was truly impressive.

One dish that particularly stood out in terms of presentation is the Blue Fin roll. The vibrant colors of the ingredients, combined with the meticulous cuts and artistic arrangement, make this roll a visual delight. It's almost too beautiful to eat, but once you take that first bite, you'll be transported to a world of flavors and textures that are equally as impressive as the presentation.

I love this place. I've only ordered from the Xi'an and Schizuan menus but everything has been phenomenal. We've tried all of the skewers, and while I discovered I dont like kidneys, the spices they put on helped. Meat is all tender and juicy, there is flavor in every nook and cranny!
I have ordered delivery and also ordered take out. Both orders have been correct and hot. I don't think I'd eat in, as I don't want them seeing me stuff my face like a squirrel.
S tier for me, so happy I found this place.

They have many TV screens with cool content! Watched Kiki's Delivery Service and a YouTuber showing street food around China.
The place looked like it required a lot of investment. Bathroom was super clean.
As they say, if you see soy sauce on the tables, probably the food is not authentic, also hot tea was severed/offered. Spicy sauce was good.
Old adagio of you tend to get what you pay; not expensive, but not cheap, not that good, but not bad. Interesting to see a Chinese restaurant in right Greek town and in the West Loop Trendy restaurant area, also considering Chinatown delivery is not that far.
The ribs were a bit uncooked, they had bones, even if it was asked if they were only meat. General Tso's chicken was good (but still Emperor's Choice is better option in tasty and quantity imo). Extremely limited alcohol-free drinks options.
I guess good options if you are on the rush and the place is close, but Ogilvie station has Panda Express and HMart is across the street/bridge.

So freaking good! If you usually only order fried rice and orange chicken, do yourself a favor and try the authentic Chinese Xian dishes instead TRUST ME. I got the lamb noodle soup which was so flavorful, reminds me of my grandma’s cooking. It’s one of my favorite dishes from China and it’s rare to find it in Chicago especially. Also love the cumin lamb flatbread which is also one of my favorite foods. It’s slightly on the saltier side than I would like, I think the cumin already brings out enough flavor.
I also tried the Biang Biang noodles which were VERY. Filling, I wasn’t hungry all day afterwards and skipped my dinner.
Wish it was a bit more affordable, it got a bit pricier over the years but still affordable compared to west loop / downtown prices.
Pickup is a bit inconvenient as they don’t bring to your car if they’re busy and there’s nowhere to park and stop in front of their store.

Xian is a nice cozy place with good service and atmosphere. I ordered lamb cumin, lamb skewers and chicken garlic fried rice all of which was good. Cumin lamb was bomb. Food is on the spicy side but my pallet loves it so I have 0 complains. It would be rude to expect service as fast as McDonald’s because Xian food tasted fresh. Considering that, service was good. I usually always get a bubble tea. I have never had a fresh watermelon bubble tea anywhere. Xi’an adds yakult to it and entire bubble tea combo tastes absolute bomb. I get my bubble tea from here regularly. Staff is really nice.
All in all it’s a lovely cozy place for your weekend family dinners.

The orange chicken was disgusting. I’m so upset I paid $18 for that. It looks like it was fried 3x. No sauce very dry and over cooked. The beef and broccoli was ok not anywhere near the orange chicken.
Reply to owners comment: we picked up the food and we live 7 minutes away so no it has nothing to do with delivery. The chicken looks like it was deep friend over and over again and it was hard and over cooked. I will not come back but no thanks.

It says a lot when you come all the way to Greek Town and choose Asian cuisine, and, trust me, this girl loves good Greek food during the summer.
Xi’an is nestled in the heart of Greek Town and offers a totally different, and highly recommended experience. We love the location in Chinatown, but prefer this area, since it is a 10 minute walk from Union Station.
Highly recommend the Biang Biang Noodles - this is what authentic Chinese cuisine should taste like. They are full of flavor, memorable, and will keep us coming back - even if it is a 50 minute train ride to downtown.
The cumin flatbread is perfectly seasoned, super savory, and pairs well with the soup broth.
The only dish that wasn’t as “wow” was the braised beef noodle soup. It was good, when properly seasoned with vinegar and chili sauce, but just pales in comparison to the other two mentioned above.
They also have a summer weekend special with 50% off of alcohol bevvies throughout the summer.
November 2023 Update: this is one of our must visit places when we are in downtown- in fact, we kinda plan trips to downtown just to come here.
Everything we have tried is really incredible.
- Biang biang noodles - don’t miss out on these. I recommend the wide noodles so they really soak in the flavor of the stewed beef and tomato sauce.
- Mapo tofu - the best we have ever had. Such depth of flavor and the perfect amount of spice.
- Stirfried potato strings - such great vinegar flavor with the slightest touch of heat. Nice to cool your mouth when eating with the Mapo tofu.
- Cumin lamb flatbread- we get this every time we are here. Absolutely recommend.

I had never seen lamb on any Chinese restaurant menu until I learned about Xi'an Cuisine. Located ironically in Greek Town, and, further ironically, priced significantly less, and serving a noticably greater selection of recipes...than other lamb-serving restaurants in the area.
Take-out: Creamy lamb soup with wide noodles, cilantro and hot pepper condiments: I am grateful each were packed separately and when assembled they came to life in a soothingly tasty way. The Lamb kebobs are seasoned uniquely and tasty, perhaps among the best I've had anywhere.

It’s on the ground floor of a condo so there are a lot of balconies attached to this restaurant. The inside decor is nice and comfortable with booth like seating chairs. They have a lunch special from 11am to 3pm. Their food is flavorful and tasty but the sauce was overwhelming and salty and just too much sauce on the food. The fried rice is great bc it’s a vegetarian option and a ton of soy sauce so it’s very flavorful but it will be salty. I tried to ask for vegetables garlic sauce but they don’t make anything to order. I understand the hassles of doing so but many Chinese places will make dishes w garlic sauce or garlic if you ask so I was disappointed. But it’s ok. The shrimp w broccoli lunch special was a good deal w big shrimp pieces for $11 w Vege fried rice included but just salty w the drowned sauce. So overall you will come out full but needing a lot of water afterwards. Nice staff and friendly.

Of course, my favorite will have to be Liangpi, the various meat filled flatbreads, and the soups like noodle soup, and the soup where you take the bread into pieces and soak them in! Even the pepper and spicy soup that I have had for a very long time! There's more: the buns! The sweet and savory ones! Snow taro buns both good and taste so good! Anyways, can't wait to come back for more!

What an amazing place. Chinese food with unusual dishes. We were a group of four old ladies who went there for our ladies' luncheon. Each of us truly enjoyed our dishes. I had a lamb flatbread and lamb skewers. Both were soooo delicious!
Don't be fooled by the entrance, which is a shared entrance. The place is immaculate. The service was awesome. And the food! Oh my. A great place to grab a quick lunch or a nice relaxing dinner.

This restaurant has become my favorite whenever I need to use Union Station. Food is excellent, portions are generous, staff is kind, and service is fast.

Real hand pulled noodles (w/ lamb is great, the broth is very lamb-y 🤩). Lamb flatbread was also very tasty

Their hot chili chicken is amazing.

Great hand pulled noodles with good portions for a reasonable price. Takeout is a little inconsistent with sauce and flavoring, but it's usually so good that it's easy to overlook.

First time trying this place, wish I had stopped in earlier. Got a few dishes to go, focusing on the Xi'an dishes available in the menu. The veggie flatbread was good, although slightly too salty. Really enjoyed the sesame noodles as well, will go back to try the hand pulled.

If you want traditional Chinese food, avoid this place. Very expensive dishes and weird taste. The restaurant is much worse than the one in Naperville.

It is a great Chinese food place with a lot of authentic Chinese food dishes, large portions, and priced very well.

Ordered the Pepper Steak, definitely was not real beef. Meat was fatty and not lean. Tasted like some other animal.

The best hand pulled noodles in Chicago ❤️

Absolute worst Chinese food I’ve ever had!! The chicken protein in all 3 entrees was disgusting, very chewy and soggy. Soggy and oily crab rangoon. Rice was inconsistent and dry. Plus, I ordered a shrimp noodle and was given a shrimp fried rice (on top of the 3 dinners I ordered, which already came with rice). I would not order from here again and definitely not worth the $70 spent. I want a full refund, I’m so disappointed in the quality of the food. Shame because this location is conveniently 2 blocks away.

Just spent $60 on take out and threw it in the trash. Vile, greasy, and flavorless. Don’t know how the ratings on Uber Eats are so high. Chicken pieces were just fatty and gross. Truly awful

The food was terrible. Bland, sad and disappointing. The braised beef noodle soup was basically chicken broth with gray chunks of meat in it, not anything like braised beef noodle soup. The dan dan noodles were stale and had an “old” aftertaste. I ordered from this place before and thought it was good but something went horribly wrong today.

Outstanding hand pulled noodle soup with lamb. Ask for the braised lamb. Mmmmm. Try the cumin lamb flatbread. Everything is fresh. Prices are downright cheap. Skip the American Chinese menu and get the authentic stuff.

We stopped in here for a late dinner and were happy with our decision. (Truth be told, we headed to Greektown for Greek food, but they had all closed early)
Friendly staff, great service, and some amazing Chinese food were what we got instead.
This is some of the best Chinese food I've had, and would recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Chinese food in the West Loop. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Ordered from the restaurant directly. It was suggested by Google and stated it was similar to MCCB and Yu's Mandarin. not really. We ordered spring rolls, pork ribs with garlic, dang dang noodles and Hibachi styled buttered noodles with veggies. The spring rolls were good, the noodles were not buttery like Hibachi style but they were good. The dang dang were disappointing they tasted like over cooked noodles. The pork ribs were flavorful but a bit tough. Sadly, we were at a hospital near by and therefore we asked for utensils. They didn't send any utensils or chop sticks.

Everything here is amazing. Try the teas and dinner/lunch combos.

The prices are kept the same and the quantity has been decreased drastically. I ordered 2 dinners and I see 3 pieces of chicken in the meal. Mongolian chicken is just onions and 2 piece chicken. Very dissapointed. This is 3 rd time happening to me in a row.

We found our go to Chinese spot. Clean, fantastic service, and food is 5/5. Recommend.

Everything was delicious. The hubs and I got a little bit of everything and the staff did a great job of staggering the service so we weren't overwhelmed with everything at once.
The lamb stuffed bread is definitely not something to miss. It far exceeded my expectations.

The food ordered for its high price was mediocre and small serving. The potstickers looked like ones you could get at a frozen food section in a grocery. I really felt like the quality does not justify the price at all.

Order Biang-Biang noodles and the pepper and spicy soup via Uber — this hit the spot! It was slap yo momma good! Very flavorful and they didn’t skimp on the spice (even included a side of chili oil). Would recommend!

We ordered four dishes but half of them were mediocre. The other half were probably average or slightly above average. Their server was good and tried his best to help us communicate with the kitchen though.

This is a 3.5 star rating. I finally made it to Xi’an Cuisine to try the flatbread sando (cumin lamb) and it was good. However, the meat was too dry (it should really be moist and succulent) and the flatbread was a bit too hard and chewy. The saving grace was their delicious walnut shrimp in mango mayo. It was very tasty, but they could have had more shrimp like other chinese restos I frequent.

It was ok. I don't plan on returning. Got the dinner special with sesame chicken and fried rice. The fried rice was extremely salty and honestly uneatable. Seemed like they overdid it with the soy sauce.
The chicken was alright. The highlight of the meal. Vegetables were nonexistent, not good. I don't really know what's up with the great reviews. ML Kitchen on Taylor St. is 15 min walk away, and has the same meals for 10.50. ML kitchen is by far better.
I would stay away. Go to ML kitchen instead for chinese in the UIC/Greektown area.

The restaurant exterior initially made us hesitate, but I am so glad we had dinner here! Everything we had was absolutely scrumptious. Having been to Xi'an before, I highly recommend this restaurant's biang biang noodle and flatbread. We also got the spicy fish fillet -- AMAZING. You can tell that the fish is of high quality from the texture. The garlic eggplant is solid too. I hold ecru garlic eggplant dish up to my mom's standard, and this one stood up to the test. I'll have to come back!
