This is undoubtedly my favorite sushi spot in Idaho, and I can not recommend it enough! Bar seating lets you place orders directly with the sushi chefs who are very kind and funny! Orders come out quickly and always have a lot of care put into the presentation. Make sure you grab yourself all-you-can-eat dinner prices for sampling all kinds of delicious rolls, including their iconic crystal shrimp!

Love having this place so close to home. The food was amazing! Service was good, but seems to be a young inexperienced staff. Not complaining though everything was great. Seating is minimal (5 tables and decent sized bar seating) so I recommend getting there early before the dinner rush. Definitely going to be a regular spot for me!

The service was atrocious. I came here for my birthday dinner. Usually I go with my dad and he orders for me, but he’s recovering from cancer so he couldn’t be here. I ordered the all-you-can-eat for $32. Many of the options on there didn’t have a description in the menu book so I googled a few of them. They charge you if you don’t finish your food, I want to know what I’m ordering if I’m paying $32 for a meal. The server, a chubby, tan woman in her 20’s, seemed to get really pissed of by this. She brought out my boyfriend’s food 20 minutes before mine (I’ve never been to a restaurant where they brought out entrees at separate times), and by the time my food came out his food was cold. She put no effort into checking up on us once we got the food (total of 1 time in the half hour) and when she did eventually come by I asked for spicy mayo and my boyfriend asked for a refill. We never got either and I had to wave down another server to get the bill which took FOREVER. She apologized for her coworker, at least she was sweet but the rude server has ruined a once-favorite place for me, don’t come here

First time going on Tuesday the 7th of May. They show you the meat they give at the counter where you can sit or at a regular table with 2 or 4 chairs. Expect the Parking to be apart of the theater next door and the other Food and sweat places as well. Don’t worry about it being raw sushi. They also cook the Sushi specifically salmon which is a common choice I’ve noticed from research and also a try for raw for those unsure. Both raw and cooked are very fresh, I did not get sick. They only do Sushi there as you would expect for a cultural perspective. The workers are social and will speak with the care you need. The atmosphere is expected by your point of view by choice wether your paranoid like me or when your looking for a very nice social place by getting out of your comfort zone which was my choice and love that!!! I have not spoken to anyone there but the service, whom are good people. They do what they can to make your service good for you. It looks low class inside to me a little bit but I think it’s nice and simple, despite the plates being more plastic weight form they are good to use as well. Don’t expect The chop sticks to be your only options of easy use or by hand chopsticks They have the choice as well for using forks with your sushi. They will treat you well. They speak English well. You may think they don’t speak well with an accent but, they do, trust me. Which is a plus and helps the business go well for sushi lovers and more of a beginner like me. I love sushi since going to IOU Sushi more than another place where it was made poorly. I will be going there again today with my brother!!!!!
Thank you IOU Sushi, for your service!!! May your best wishes come true for your growth as you do your part!!!!!

I love this place supper good every time we go!They cater to my little one! They make her a peanut butter and jelly and roll it up so it looks like sushi. Makes her supper happy and feel involved.
They always make sure I’m full before I leave.
There is definitely a down fall. We typically will have to wait for our food for awhile which is fine because it’s what we know to expect from here. It is not unusual to wait 30-45 minutes before you get your sushi. I’ve seen people get up and leave because it is taking so long. I order the miso soup. It comes out pretty quick so at least I get something to snack on before our food comes out!
As for the restaurant it self. They could really use a lesson on cleaning. Sometimes there’s food on the floor or, it’s sticky for soy sauce. In between the wall and benches we’ve seen food. The blinds have been covered in, I’m assuming soy sauce.
Having said that the food is so good we go back every time. There is something for everyone here. People who have told me they don’t like sushi absolutely fall in love with the Kaun roll. I love tuna and avocado, so the olo nigiri is my favorite!

Johnny is awesome! Good company at the bar and he is great at reading what you like and making it on the spot! He made my husband the one in the first image off the menu. We call it mac-attack! If you want that, ask for the Mac -attack . Rice at the bottom, spicy scallop with light lemon on top, house sauce and some spicy on that all wrapped in tuna! They are so much fun here !!

Sushi was very plain and my rolls fell apart ... Kids bowl came out about 20 minutes after sushi and had onions and broccoli in it but it wasn't listed in the menu. Service was slow and oblivious. Unfortunately won't be back. I love sushi and this is the closest to my house. Big bummer 😕

Good sushi. A little slow but friendly service. The ambiance isn’t my favorite. Too dark with the black paint for the small space. Not suited for large groups. Recommend trying it at least once and judge for yourself. Nampa IOU.

Went to this place with my girlfriend for a nice dinner hoping for good sushi when we went in the place it was pretty packed but that didn’t bother us we were told we can sit where ever we like once we picked a place to sit down we got are menu's right away the same can’t be said for are drinks thought my girlfriend got her water 5 minutes after sitting down I asked for a soda and it did not come out with the water after that we got are orders ready we gave it to the waitress and after 20 minutes of waiting the waitress came back to tell me that they ran out of the soda I wanted I wasn’t mad at her for telling me so late just disappointed she didn’t tell me once she brought out my girlfriends drink I asked for another drink then that’s when she brought out my drink during the 30 maybe 40 minutes of waiting the lady told us that she had lost are orders and then gave us another pice of paper to write are orders on this is when i started to get frustrated all thought I was frustrated I did not show any anger towards the staff because I understand that things could happen when it is a little busy even thought the restaurant wasn’t as busy as when we walked in we were one of three groups left we gave her are orders and we waited another 25 minutes and not once did the waitress come to check on us or even ask if we wanted refills she showed more interest in the older and bigger groups then we finally got are sushi don’t get me wrong it tasted amazing the same can’t be said for how it was prepared it looked pretty rushed which i can understand but still pretty disappointed still did not get a refill I even asked for one and she said she would get to it not once did I get my drink refilled we finished eating are check came out she told us she would put a discount on it because of the wait it came out to 59 dollars for 5 rolls I know sushi can be pretty pricey but even I knew that was a bit outrageous I asked her for a recipe and she said why and I told her we only got one plate of sushi and five rolls and she looked confused on what I was trying to tell her and then waitress said “oh” then started clicking around on the tablet then are total came out to 39 dollars even with the “discount” she even had the audacity to ask for a tip which i understand is okay but after everything that happened to us i was pretty frustrated and i still never got my receipt, i understand that us teenagers are young and don’t seem to care but i still want to be treated the same and have the same level of importance as any other customer i am very disappointed and mad with the service of this place i am at a lost for words on how terrible the service was this place was awful I don’t usually write reviews but this place was so bad and awful that it needed to be said if you think about coming here maybe just get it carried out overall absolutely awful service 1/5 stars

We came in for the 1st time and sat ourselves like the sign said. We asked for 2 waters and 10 minutes later I got my sushi and we had to wait another 5 minutes before we could ask for our waters because they never came. I got my food but my bf didn't get his food until 20 mins after I got mine. He ordered the beef teriyaki but instead received the chicken. Once my bf got his food I started eating my sushi but it wasn't very good. 1/5. We never got asked how things were, never got checked on, updated. We will not return.

Since I have been going to IOU, the service has never been good. The severs don't check on you, don't refill drinks, force the tip with the card payment, honestly it seems like everyone just took a fat bong rip... the last couple times we went in there, the music wasn't on. I saw 4 cooks and 2 servers... they had one dude rolling sushi. It would be nice if the servers had some hospitality, after all; it is easily a $100 date night.

My son and I just left this establishment, and I made a point to post a review right away. Small place, seat yourself - no problem. The lady who came to the table was timid to the point of being incomprehensible, took our drink orders and eventually our food orders: we both had to repeat what we wanted, point to the items on the menu, and hope for the best. His order - chicken katsu with rice, salad, and a California roll- was served to me, and looked okay, but I waited around ten more minutes for my own food - teriyaki rice plate with chicken and shrimp and tempura vegetables. I had heard a lady at the table behind ours asking where her tempura vegetables were, pointing to the menu, and waiting while the mute server seemed to go ask someone behind the scenes about this missing part of the meal. The upshot is that the menu is not truthful: you do not, in fact, get tempura vegetables with your meal. Why is the menu untrue? Good question. The food we did have was bland, virtuously taste-free, and two small ramekins of two sauces (one sweet, one a kind of spicy beige mayonaise) did little to make eating enjoyable. The "sushi" was plain white rice rolled around some bland filling. Our server never returned, and we forced ourselves to eat all we could just because we were paying for it. I have never given zero tip, until today, and though I know the lousy food and other issues were not her fault I just was left beyond disappointed. How this place manages to get good reviews periodically is beyond me, but if you're not a gambler - I would stear clear. Oh yeah, when we paid the bill it was wrong! I had to ask the actually- verbal lady who brought the card reader to correct the bill. Two entrees, one soda, and a glass of water and they could not even get that right. From beginning to end, a terrible experience.

Very disappointed. Sushi was overpriced and small and I would expect to receive more for value from a food cart and that isn’t to bash on food carts because i love food carts. I feel wronged. I feel betrayed. and most importantly I still feel hungry. Please work on yourself and try better this year.

This was a lack luster experience. The rolls were mostly just rice with not very much else, and we felt like it was overpriced for what it was. Taste was so so. From the reviews and the price, we expected a lot more than what we got. All you can eat was reasonably priced and may be the way to go for this place, but we didn't think we'd eat more than 3 rolls between the two of us (as that's what we normally do).

I don't think I'll be coming back here again. It's a shame too, because I used to really like this place.
The waitress is very grumpy and not friendly. The sushi tends to have too much rice vinegar in the rice, I don't think their air conditioner was working, and everything is pretty expensive. The floors were dirty.
I'm just going to go somewhere else that could get me better service and better food. There's lots of other places to eat at.

Just like majority of the reviews on here the servers that run this place are incredibly rude. When we walked in and was seated a server took our order and asked what we wanted to drink and when she asked what our son wanted to drink she had a terrible attitude and rolled her eyes. There was one server in there that was sweet but the rest have some issues and don’t know good customer service. Sushi was ok nothing special.

Very small. Sushi was good but nothing over thtop for the all you can eat. Definitely recommend the fried salmon skin roll. service was sadly non existent. Had never been before so asked how we should be ordering as we were given a slip of paper with sushi listed on it. We were told just do whatever. When we wanted to order more we had to get up to ask for more order forms as the two servers were busy watching something on a phone in a back corner.
For what it was I am not too sure it was worth it for the all you can eat, but the specialty rolls that are on the regular menu were pretty good so will probably be back for that.

Truthfully, this is the best sushi. Presentation is always pristine. The service from the waitress’ is subpar, but for how good the food is, it’s easy to get over real quick and you get used to it. We’ve gone here for years and I feel like the quality just gets better. And you cannot beat all you can eat sushi for under $30 a person! Pictured is their Nan Madol. It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review but with the meal I just ate I feel I have to. First time visiting IOU Sushi and I was excited. The server was great, no worries there. I ordered a Rock N Roll Specialty Roll, a standard Spicy Tuna Roll and a cup of Miso Soup. I love Miso Soup but it was the worst I've ever tasted - it was sour. WTH? Then my rolls came. I was shocked when she put the plate in front of me. The rock n roll was $15 and had 8 very tiny pieces with hardly any fish and mostly rice. I've paid $15 for a roll before and have always received my money's worth. Oh my gosh not this time. I was hopeful the taste would offset the size of the portion. Nope. Then my spicy tuna roll was okay but not much bigger and not worth $12. I've never paid $12 for a standard tuna roll. The prices are nowhere near what they should be for what you get. And the rice they use - it's the cheap, super sticky stuff they use in the grocery store sushi. It was gross. I should have spoken up when it was delivered but was with a friend for lunch and was honestly so shocked by the whole experience that I just ate a few bites and then asked for a box.
I am beyond disappointed.

The food is good the past few times have been there however last time I was there a week ago the size of the sushi rolls have dramatically decreased in the cost is a little high now so unfortunately probably won't be returning until they change a few things perhaps get some employees that speak or at least understand English a little better or maybe they do understand but they just act like they don't. Not downing the place like I said food is good size and quantity has reduced dramatically price has gone up. But with the economy I guess I can understand however I wouldn't reduce the quality of the product to try to beat inflation not a great way to run a business.

IOU Sushi has a great all you can eat price for lunch, but a limited selection. You can't get the fancy "dinner" rolls and have to choose from the very simple ones. It's also a mistake for them not to include miso soup and edamame because those appetizers are cheap and would fill people up. The staff was fine when actually serving, but they spent the whole time just chatting (loudly) and I had to go up to the counter to ask for more rolls. They only provided one AYCE roll selection paper. Overall, it just felt like they were trying to save money by limiting how much sushi I could eat in an AYCE format without making up for it in either quality or customer service.

Truly a South Pacific vibe. Our favorite sushi. Always made beautifully and is so good. I love the Kaun roll the most. My husband always tries something new and hasn't been disappointed yet. It's got a laid back vibe, kind of "sports bar". Love the names of food on the menu. You can tell it's a family run establishment and I love hearing them banter in their native language. They all have an easy smile and welcoming, friendly vibe. We love this place.

The sushi is great but it is PRICY. Sushi is never cheap, but for the all you can eat lunch (with a limited set of selections) it is almost $30 per person. Service was also slow, but the chef knows his craft so it still gets 4 stars.

It is a culinary experience for you eyes and taste buds! I leave one star open as it was better before Covid and shutdowns. I hold the last star for the day we see the return of that over the moon quality of ingredients we had before. But still better than all the other sushi I go to.

Can't stress enough just how good sushi is at IOU. We've traveled the northwest eating sushi everywhere and we know sushi. Sit at the bar and share conversation with the makers who are incredibly fast..even when busy. If you're inexperienced, get a Cristal Shrimp, or Nan Madol. You will dream about it after that.......

This was a horrible experience. The waitress did not seem to care, she sucked at her job. I wish I could take my tip back. I paid and asked her where my other order was and she forgot. We will never come to this place again. Horrible horrible horrible.

This is my go to place for sushi in Nampa. I love their variety and freshness. While their individual roll prices are a little high, their all-you-can-eat price isn't too bad, it is about the price of 1.5-2 rolls. I enjoy sitting at the bar and asking the chefs to go off-menu and they seem to enjoy this.
The staff here seem to have fun at their job with lots of laughing and joking around. That is always a welcoming experience.

Great server-customer relations! Sushi is always good. Wish the "all you can eat" price wasn't so high, but I guess 1 roll should be plenty...not! Lol!

You'll apparently from what we saw, get good food and service if you sit at the bar, otherwise not worth the $62 of hard earned money spent.

Fantastic service! Fantastic sushi! Order the Madison roll. It is truly a top notch roll in the treasure valley.

Their food is great but the service is pretty bad if you're not sitting at the bar.

My partner got the all you can eat sushi, I got the teriyaki rice plate with beef and shrimp. Service was a little slow, but they were busy and friendly.
My plate came with 6 tempura shrimp, a bowl of salad, a mound of rice, and a bowl of teriyaki beef with broccoli and carrots. There were also two sauces, not sure what they were for, neither looked like a tempura dipping sauce I was used to.
The shrimp was a little underdone-very light colored and only a little crispy. But I dunked it in the Sriracha mayo and it was yummy.
Very good sushi. I'm sure we'll go again.

Sushi was not that good, my wife don't eat sushi so she ordered a chicken & shrimp teriyaki plate and it took them an hour to cook it, made us late for the event we were going to

Hawian style sushi. In my opinion, there is no better sushi in the valley. Staff is hospitable but have suffered with wait service from time to time.

We went IOU almost weekly when we lived in Nampa. The food was always fresh and the staff was friendly. We now live in Yeton Idaho and wish there was an IOU here. If we had one here they would be the number one sushi place in the area. Nobody here even comes close to IOU

Placed my order in door dash. Order was confirmed and I was charged. I get a notice that my dasher is on the way and then they say my order was canceled. When I called and asked why the guy said "our door dash is broken. " he was rude and said "I don't know what to tell you, call door dash for a refund". Doubt you care but you lost my business.

I can not give an accurate food
review, because we never actually ate. We sat waiting to be acknowledged for 15 minutes. Others that came in after us and sat at the bar were greeted with smiles, laughter and menus. It was not until we started putting our coats back on and discussing where we would go instead, that we were asked what we'd like drink (still with no menus) we declined as we were already getting up to leave
Other reviews state its a place for locals and newbies are treated rudely or not acknowledged. I should have listened to those reviews vs the ones that go "at least once a week"
BTW we went to Golden coral across the parking lot and were treated with excellent service by Christian, and awesome food.

They outdid themselves this time and have forever earned my business. Not only were they lightening fast, they customized orders based off of our personalities. I came with a group of 4 and 2 of them were new. They were equally impressed and like me, are die hard sushi lovers. I also want to point out that this is a freedom loving business that takes good care of it's guest.

We were sorely disappointed. The sushi was very poor quality and way overpriced. Everything about the sushi just felt cheap. My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki roll and there was nothing teriyaki about that chicken. It was basically canned chicken. It was definitely not worth the $60+ we paid. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

My fiance and I went in for the all you can eat lunch and it was amazing. 11/12 that we ordered we ate. The twelfth one was too spicy 🔥 for both of us. But you know what it was a great little date out and it was very delicious. Left with our tummy's happy and full.

Great sushi, all you can eat (though if you want any specialty rolls it’s more, and if there’s leftovers they charge you extra). Long wait times, lack of communication (they were out of something so they just didn’t include that in our meal, but didn’t tell us. They just brought our rolls out missing the 2 that we had ordered), soy sauce clearly isn’t kikkoman.. they, like most restaurants, I’m sure, refill their soy sauce containers. This soy sauce was thick and didn’t taste quite normal. It didn’t taste like it had gone bad, but it’s clear it wasn’t right. Aside from those things, great place for sushi!

The reviews about bad customer service are no joke lol. I have social anxiety already so it’s already hard for me to order and communicate, the lady who works there litterally stared at me (rudely) while I looked at the menu! I’ve never had sushi before so whenever I’d ask her what something meant she would look at me very rude! I’m wondering if she didn’t know English very well? Well I mustered up the courage to ask if they had a bathroom, she looks right at me and IGNORED ME! The guy heard and pointed it out to me. My anxiety was at an all time high here. I felt sooo awkward and just very very uncomfortable, like I was a burden. Sushi was decent (I’ve never had sushi before)

Slow and discourteous service, poor quality sushi, and they charged us $30 per person for dinner all you can eat on a Wednesday night instead of the $22.99 written on their menu. They only explained it away with, “the price went up.” This was our second significantly negative experience at IOU Sushi, and we won’t be returning.

The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the sushi is good and the guys who make the sushi are nice. We’ve been coming here for a while because we like their sushi a lot, but we have had a couple instances where the waitresses are unprofessional and lazy. Today was my last straw when we walked in and she loudly and visibly groaned when she saw us come in because it was so inconvenient for us to come pay for a meal and make her have to actually work for a couple minutes. As we sat down the waitress was loudly and visibly having an argument with another costumer, she was telling the costumer she was wrong and rolling her eyes at the costumer. As she walked to the kitchen near where we were sitting she loundly stated that she hates when costumers come in around closing time while she was looking right at us. She came to us to take our drink order and was very unfriendly in doing so. As she walked away to get our drinks, my fiancé and I walked out. This is not the first time we have had attitude from this specific waitress, but it will be the last. We will not be paying to eat at a restaurant where the waitress is giving us attitude for being a loyal costumer and I will not be paying to tip this girl. I work hard for my money, so if she can’t work at all for hers, then we will be taking our business elsewhere.

Sushi is ok at best. Bad part is the service. No acknowledgment when entering, no smile, no friendly service. Expect long time to get drinks and get served. This is the only place in town that has all you can eat sushi.. If it wasn't for our love of sushi, we wouldn't be coming here.

I'm really sad to say but I was super disappointed in the sushi!! The rice was hard and yellow colored the fish was fishy and old tasting. It really warm inside of the restaurant and the food was warm when it came out and I'm talking about my sushi rolls. The menu was all these different roles with different names but literally had the same ingredients in most of them and they came out with no sauces on them or anything very dry.

I can't believe, this place uses so much rice like no one else. There is almost no fish or fillings inside the roll.. the rice Is also packed on sushi, not like real sushi rice is fluffy.. Customer service is really bad. No one offered or asked if we will order more. The server didn't brought some dishes that were ordered. Also brought some rolls that didn't belong to us. The only thing was ok is upside down shrimp, but again why does it need to have about 2 tablespoons of rice in it. IOU please remember Sushi is not all about rice, it's about your customers.. if you feed customers rice it means you are loosing customers. Remember it's better to eat less and quality,,,,, not quantity. I also hated that sushi was warm. Because they use warm rice. It feels like sushi is bad especially when I has raw fish in it. To be honest with you it's about time to learn how real sushi is made. Also be alarmed many of their sushi says deep fried and it be regular roll, it could have fried tempura shrimp inside instead.

Great dine in experience tonight. Server seemed to be the only one on the floor but was still very attentive. Sushi was great, tempura was great, and the jalapeños were amazing. I left a personal belonging in the booth on accident and the server ran it out to my husband before he left, which I really appreciate. Thanks!
