Elegant Casual Izakaya and Ramen Bar with a twist
Ukiyo was a super enjoyable experience at its price point! The options offered are delicious and varied without being overwhelming or convoluted.
There’s a little bit of everything to get a taste of high-quality Japanese cuisine, but also finds itself in a cozy (albeit slightly cramped) dining floor. We were a bit hesitant to freely converse as we were quite close to other customers, but once the whole room is caught up in conversation it is quite pleasant.
Parking was tricky, but this is not uncommon for Savannah so account for this if making a reservation.
Our waiter was playful and encouraged us to explore some of the options on the menu we would otherwise not have tried which turned out to be delicious choices.
All in all, Ukiyo is a great date spot, even better for double-dates and is a filling, elegant exploration of Japanese cuisine!
Make sure to try the baos and the cocktails!

Came here with my family 12/26/24 for dinner. Our server was Ahdo and he was amazing from start to finish! He was knowledgeable about the entire menu and helped me narrow down my choices due to my food allergies. The food was delicious and filling! The atmosphere was great overall, only issue my family and me had was where our table was located it was a little to dimly lit and we had to use our phone’s flashlight to properly see the menu. But I will definitely be coming back to dine here!

Came here for a birthday dinner with friends and the experience was amazing! Our server Cristina was so kind and helpful, she made us feel welcome and got our orders very quickly. She answered our questions cheerfully and informed us about the menu. The food was delicious as usual; the mentaiko ramen was very flavourful and the pork belly bao buns were tender and juicy. Everyone else got tonkatsu or chicken miso ramen and greatly enjoyed them. Highly recommend:). The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere as well. Can’t wait to go back again!

We had the best experience so far! Our server Ahdawanya was well experienced with the menu and taking care of his costumers. He gave us a well prepared back brief on what he recommended and it was phenomenal! I couldn’t tell you if the food or service was better because they went hand in hand. If you are craving Sushi, great saki and food come on down. If it’s your first time eating sushi ask for Ahdawanya, he will make sure that your experience is worth it. More waiters like him please!

I’m picky. I dislike mediocre food. I was not disappointed at all. My daughter wanted Ramen, but I’m not a fan of Ramen noodles. I just happened to ask the waitress if they had Okonomikie and too my amazement, they did. My daughter had the chicken Ramen my husband ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen to follow with the crispy potatoes which were so delicious I had to order two. My Japanese cabbage omelette was delicious and just as I always remembered. The atmosphere was elegant and the staff was Highly attentive. Make reservations is very simple on their website. The manager came by and wanted to know how our experience was. Which I thought was very thoughtful. I finally left leaving a restaurant feeling fully satisfied for a change. I definitely would return there again

Best Japanese Cuisine in Savannah!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ukiyo with five of my friends, and it was an unforgettable experience. The ambiance is a perfect blend of traditional and modern Japanese decor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The food? Absolutely incredible! Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with authentic flavors. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and melted in my mouth, while the ramen had a rich, flavorful broth that was perfectly balanced. The attention to detail in both taste and presentation was remarkable.
The service was exceptional as well—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The staff was happy to explain the menu and even made some fantastic recommendations.
If you’re looking for a true taste of Japan with an elevated dining experience, Ukiyo is the place to go. I can’t wait to return and try more of their amazing dishes!

Got the Chicken Ramen, pork Gyoza and the Japanese pancake with shrimp. Ramen is the the main attraction here recommend getting the chili oil with the Ramen. The gyoza is interesting, tastey pork belly. Japanese pancake was not great though, the sauce on top made the whole dish taste like sweet baby rays bbq sauce. Also my order took so long to come out every one else had nearly finished eating by the time my food arrived. Server was nice did a good job. Would come back but will be sticking to their ramen.

I had the best time eating the best Japanese cuisine ! The food was 5 stars, sitting at the bar watching the chefs prepare was an experience, the music in the background was perfect as was our waitress ! We loved everything and if we lived in Savannah we’d go at least twice a month that is how rich the menu is !!! Bravo 🎉

I was thoroughly impressed from the time we walked in the door until the check was paid. Audo delivered impeccable table service, suggested pairings, and was quite knowledgeable about the fare and the amazing sake selection. The food was fresh, seasoned to perfection and delicious. Very trendy upscale place, perfect for a date night. Highly recommend this establishment. And will definitely visit again.

Best restaurant in Savannah for ramen, definitely has more of an upscale feel. I sit at the dinner bar, when I’m there to watch the chefs cook their masterpieces and it’s great. Sushi is super fresh and I would recommend this place to anyone who’s in the mood for a good ramen and classy Japanese eat.

We sat at the counter and had a front row seat to watch the food being skillfully crafted by each Chef. Everything leaving the kitchen looked delicious- it was a cold evening and we had Ramen. Full of authentic flavors textures it was very satisfying on this cold night!
Our service food and the atmosphere is a 10/10. Avoid the tourist traps and go here for quality food that nourishes the body and soul. Thank you for being here!

Sushi was ok but everything else were not as good as I remembered. The wagyu steak was chewy. My son liked the pork buns and I didn’t. The Cabernet they offered by glass was blah. So you decide!

Simply awesome. Loved the interior, atmosphere, service and food. We also appreciated it a lot that it was very kid friendly. Several families inside with children. We have a very picky eater at home and even she adored the food.

We came here last year at Thanks Giving as well as this year at TG. so I am comparing the restaurant to itself. Sushi was not bad but everything else was pretty mediocre. What a dissapointment. Service was good but without good food it is not relevant.

We love Collins Quarter, but this place is a disaster. There were many open 4-top tables on a Thursday nite, but the hostess insisted on seating us in a crowded banquette. We waited and waited and waited for a server and when he finally came he was apologetic and professional. However drinks took forever to get to the table and our entrees were served seperately. My wife was finishing her ramen as my pork katsu finally arrived. This is all clearly a management issue since many of the wait staff were just standing around. Suffice it to say, we will never go back.
They did comp our drinks but should have comped the meal and then some. I hope this comment gets to the owner of Collins Quarter so he can remedy the situation

My first time in Savannah, and I decided to stop at Ukiyo for ramen. The atmosphere was wonderful—vibrant, lively, and really enjoyable. I sat at the bar, where Stephanie, the bartender, provided excellent service. Even though it was a busy Saturday night, she was quick to assist me and made the experience all the more pleasant with her friendly demeanor.
The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the kimchi spicy pork ramen and a Black Dragon sushi roll—both were incredible. Overall, it was a great dining experience, especially as a solo diner. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Poor service. Tasteless ramen.
I really wanted to like this place. I really liked the vibe when I entered. I was seated at the noodle bar. I told the hostess I was going to the ladies room, but when I came back my menus were gone. I went to get new menus. Then I waited 15 minutes for a server. I ordered the ramen, which was mediocre at best. The pork was completely flavorless. The jammy egg disentigrared into the broth when I went to eat it because it was so underdone.
Next.

The restaurant was completely crowded and LOUD. I rarely go out to eat in Savannah but when I do I prefer it to be a space where I can decompress and enjoy my food. This environment did not allow for that. I was told upon my arrival to wait up front for my table by one of the managers but wasn't sat for close to an hour. I asked about my table about half way into my wait and was seemingly ignored. I ended up leaving. A server profusely apologized on my way out and was overall super sweet. I couldn't help but feel bad for her. Seems like a very poorly managed restaurant with a great staff.

I love Ukiyo! My partner and I go almost every week. Every staff member is so kind and patient—despite how busy it can get. The food is inventive and delicious. There are always fun drinks and a new sake to try. The atmosphere feels metropolitan and sophisticated, a nice break from the classic southern vibes of other local restaurants. A favorite spot, for sure.

This was our second time at Ukiyo, and there will definitely be a third, and soon. What a gem! Atmosphere and service is on point. The menu is creative and unique, in the best of ways! You can tell that there is thought and love put into every dish. At the recommendation of our server, we tried the edamame gyoza, the bluefin tuna tartare, and a sushi roll. The star was the tuna tartare which managed to outclass The Vault (no easy task). It was so … delicate and delicious. The sushi roll was really impressive in a town where good sushi is nearly impossible to find. We are planning to sit with the sushi chef for custom rolls on our next visit. And the gyoza was so surprisingly delicious that we ended up ordering another round.
Ukiyo gets a rarely given 5 out of 5 stars.

I hate having to leave the review I’m about to leave. I was very excited to try Ukiyo based on all the good things I’ve heard about it. First off, the food is incredible there. Probably the best Unagi I’ve had and fantastic ramen. The atmosphere is great, appropriate and inviting. Now I can start with the bad. I can almost blame the entirety of the negative review based on our server. She was short and rude. In the over hour and a half we were there we were able to get one round of drinks (the second coming as she handed us our check). At one point it did seem like some back up arrived including a manager, however, since we were a two top I guess we didn’t warrant any extra attention. When we did order the second round of drinks we had to literally raise our voices and flag her down. Then, when we were ready to leave our second round of drinks show up and they’re the wrong drinks. She then throws down the electronic payment and says, “I guess I’m making all kind of mistakes tonight.” During this entire time we were looking at all the other tables in our section shrugging and wondering what was happening as we could see the rest of the restaurant receiving god service. Listen, it takes a lot for me to leave a bad review, I worked in the industry for years, but this was crazy. I’m probably going to give it one more time and see if it was just the server.

We came in on Monday evening and sat at the bar. As soon as we sat down we were greeted with an exciting menu and our bartender, Stephanie, who told us about a new cocktail menu that was created by the head mixologist (Teresa I think.)
We tried 3 out of the several cocktails listed and they were all incredible. The Kodama was our favorite and definitely a culinary experience in itself.
The food is unreal, we hadn’t been here before and we are so thrilled to make this our weekly spot. Seriously can’t believe what we have been missing out on as locals.
Great job to the entire team and the manager who ensured we had a great experience. Can’t wait to come back.

A group of us sat at the bar for our first visit. It was a great spot to really see the entire flow of the well oiled machine that is Ukiyo. Our bartender, Stephanie, was phenomenal. The cocktails we ordered not from the menu were equally, if not better, than the ones from the menu. Her knowledge of the product and food was key in helping us decide what to order. Highly recommend the pork belly buns and the pork katsu! The food was exceptionally prepared and the presentation was beautiful. We will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu!
If you sit at Stephanie’s bar, you’ll be in for a treat and you should be ordering an espresso martini with the Vietnamese coffee!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ukiyo, and I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks for a truly exceptional experience.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the host and seated promptly. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and perfectly set the tone for a memorable meal. The decor was elegant yet comfortable, creating a perfect backdrop for our dining experience.
The menu offered a diverse selection of dishes, each sounding more delicious than the last. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations and accommodating our dietary preferences with ease. The highlight of our meal was the sushi, which was a culinary masterpiece. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was impeccable.
What truly set our experience apart, however, was the outstanding service. Your staff was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that our glasses were always full and that we had everything we needed. They worked seamlessly together, displaying professionalism and a genuine passion for their work.
I would like to commend you, Sydney, for leading such a fantastic team. It's clear that Ukiyo is a well-oiled machine, with every member of your staff contributing to an exceptional dining experience. Your leadership and dedication to excellence are evident in every aspect of the restaurant.
Thank you once again for a wonderful evening. We will undoubtedly be returning soon and will be recommending Ukiyo to all our friends and family.

When I first moved to Savannah I loved everything about the food scene but I was starting to get very worried about one big thing, good sushi.
That is until visiting Ukiyo. Not only is the sushi great but the rest of the menu is pretty dang good too. I like the chicken karaage and pork belly bao buns, ramen always steals the show.
More than all this, it’s a very sleek fun spot with quality service and an excellent atmosphere. Service is very prompt, every staff member is very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. I love hearing their recommendations, it always enhances my experience especially as of late.

Every so often, when I get the urge for some ramen, I return to roll the dice on this place because I want to like it, but it continues to disappoint.
One time I went, they had no ramen spoons, which is a bizarre issue for a ramen joint.
Once, my ramen sat on the counter for about 10 minutes before it was delivered to my table.
On my last visit, I ate a couple of starter plates before any drink (or water) was put in front of me. It wasn't the bartender's fault; I felt bad for her, but she was making drinks for an entire restaurant on her own while servers loitered around the bar like lost sheep. She had no support from a barback and had to get ice herself a few times, which only added to the delay.
In general, it's just a poorly run restaurant. There seems to be a breakdown in communication between the kitchen, bar, and front of the house. That evening, the bartender seemed unsupported, which was unfair to her and the customers.
It's a lovely space, and the food is alright, but for the price you pay per dish, the service feels chaotic at worst and lazy at best.

Really good Japanese food, it's upscale Japanese bar food with an American twist on a few dishes. Don't expect to find too many distinctly Asian flavors, though, as this is geared towards a larger audience, that is not a bad thing though because it does that very well.

best sushi in savannah! also the non-sushi food was excellent!

Service was terrible, we were completely ignored- nearly 45 minutes before a server came to our table and almost an hour until we even got water. The food on the other hand, was phenomenal. The peanut noodles are a 10/10. Don’t recommend going during busy times.

Ukiyo Izakaya & Ramen Bar in Savannah, GA, is a must-visit for Japanese food lovers!
Here are some of the reasons why I love Ukiyo:
- *Delicious and flavorful dishes*: From their delectable ramen to their mouthwatering buns, every dish on the menu is bursting with flavor. Their cabbage pancake, wagyu buns, chicken ramen, and duck ramen are highly recommended.
Excellent service*: The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They'll help you choose the best dishes based on your preferences.
Overall, Ukiyo Izakaya & Ramen Bar is a fantastic addition to Savannah's dining scene. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine or just looking to try something new, this restaurant is a must-visit.

Unbelievably delicious.
- Chicken Bao Nashville Hot: 8/10. It was hot but I wouldn’t have called it “Nashville” hot.
- Edamame Gyoza: 10/10. So good we ordered a second round.
- White Dragon roll: 10/10. Delicious
- Tuna Tartare: 5/10. It was okay, nothing special. Just tuna and chips.
- Tokyo Cosmo: 10/10. So smooth and delicious.
- Spicy Mango Matsuri: 7/10. Boyfriend: “it was pretty good”
- Yuzu Gimlet: 10/10. The subtle apricot taste was MMMMM. So good.
Note: they do not do anything special for birthdays. Just in case anyone is wondering

We put our names down and waited 20 minutes for the table. I got a message saying the table was ready, when we came back the waiter who put our names down told that we could sit at the bar because no tables were available. More than that he was very rude. Would not recommend this place to anyone! Waste of time. Incompetent and mean people that cant do their job well.

Best Bao buns I have ever had, great layout, professional staff, reasonably priced too. Sushi was fresh and delicious.

Phenomenal doesn't even begin to cover it! The menu is incredibly well designed and served family-style. Hands down the best ramen I've ever had, not to mention their variety of perfectly prepared sushi. This place was perfect for date night with a smooth atmosphere and great cocktails. Highly recommend!

This place is a little gem. Parking is not fun but this place is amazing. My favorite BAO Bun I've ever had I tried the chicken one (so tasty). The peanut cucumber thingy was absolutely amazing as well. The staff was so pleasant and helpful with any and everything. Will definitely come back and try more!

I was amazed by the fact that authentic Japanese chefs were in charge, and the cuisine was exceptionally tasty. This is the first restaurant that I thought the sushi tastes good and fresh. The flavor is not Americanized it actually taste like REAL JAPANESE food <3 i will definitely come here often!

Literally the only negative is the price. But it’s worth every penny. Some of the best flavors I’ve had outside of japan. I wouldn’t say the food is traditional but the flavors are complex and subtle. Really enjoyed it. Service was great! Have gone several times and plan on continuing to go.

Our service was amazing and the atmosphere was cool, but the food was just okay. The only thing that really wowed was the tuna tartare and the chilled peanut noodles.

The interior of the restaurant is stunning and matches perfectly with the core aesthetics. The food is excellent, and they offer a variety of cocktails. I highly recommend their cocktails, especially the warm sake and kimchi ramen. The kimchi was so delicious I added a chili bomb. The flavor was on point, and my family thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Our server, Jesse, provided exceptional service. She was knowledgeable about the menu. She offered us alternatives/add-ons. We felt cozy. We will be back, and I’m bringing my friends here. If you visit, request her section for the best experience.

1st time at Ukiyo tonight! Have heard great things about it and we were blown away by the excellence at this restaurant👍 Most delicious fresh food and fantastic service. Our waiter Ahdo was over the top fabulous. We asked him to choose our dinner for us & after a few quick questions he nailed it! We enjoyed every savory bite. Highly recommend🤩

Mediocre experience. Not even authentic...also...For a restaurant group that needs support from local consumers...they dont even support other local businesses... Go figure.

Ukiyo is so much fun! We came here for a girls night and the service was amazing. There was a wait for a table so we sat at the bar, where we were immediately greeted by Clarissa(?) she was so kind and was an AMAZING bartender. I ordered a cosmopolitan to start off and it was the smoothest cosmo I’ve had in a minute. We also ordered sushi and bao buns. The food was delicious and fresh and the food runners were so sweet and contributed heavily to the fun trendy environment of this place. I’m a shut in who doesn’t get out often, but Ukiyo has an amazing vibe that welcomes all without sacrificing quality. Well done yall 🩵

I can see why Ukiyo is up-and-coming in Savannah. It's right on Bull next to some well-known drinking holes. It's a hip place that attracts anybody with a love of asian cuisine. Unfortunately, it also attracts bad attitudes. We had a great server, but she misheard one of our orders and the waitstaff was a bit short with dropping off dishes. The staff also tried to deliver orders to our table we didn't ask for. We had to ask our server for utensils by the time we were already served.
Other than that, the food is great for vegetarians and vegans alike. Pork broth is delicious!

Sat there for over and hour. No water, no service no nothing. Finally left hungry after sitting there looking stupid for so long. Me and my husband will probably never be back.

Sorry to say, Ukiyo is all looks and no substance.
Everything was bland, Nashville hot chicken bao buns? Bland. Veggie ramen? Bland.
Service was inexperienced and forgot my husbands sushi order, tried to make it right after we asked for the bill, but it was too late.
We won’t be back unfortunately. It’s too expensive to continue to eat out at disappointing restaurants.

Had an amazing time at Ukiyo! Went there with one of my best friends from Philadelphia, and we couldn’t stop raving about everything. The Agedashi tofu? Crispy and just perfect. I tried the Anzu spirit too and is so refreshing! Our server knew their stuff, giving us great recommendations! The sushi was out of this world, fresh and flavorful in every bite. Highly recommended Ukiyo if you’re craving some top-notch Sushi!

I just started going here since June. At first the food was great and It was the best ramen I’ve had in the Savannah area. Within the past two months I’ve been here twice and ordered the tonkatsu ramen each time. One time I have gotten food poisoning from it and the second time I went the broth was nearly tasteless and nearly inedible. This restaurant has been getting much more busy and the more busy it gets the lesser the quality is. I usually sit outside but every time I go inside it smells like dog pee. My husband can also smell it. I’m disappointed because I used to love coming here.

Our server, Ryan, is amazing! Friendly, funny, and always makes the best recommendations when we come in. My husband and I are both vegan with a few food allergies, so we tend to stick to our tried and trues when we go out to eat. However, all of Ryan’s recommendations have us trying something new every time. I’ve never ordered something here that I haven’t loved. I would give it 10 stars if i could!

Wow and I mean it. Went with a friend first time last night and the food was amazing but I have to tell you one young lady there really stood out she said her name was Abbey and that she hasn’t been there long but her smile her vibe and just all around demeanor was outstanding. Great job Abbey you made 5 stars ⭐️ into 100 stars keep doing what you are doing it works.😃

This place will take you on an experience of a lifetime! They serve some of the best Asian inspired food in all of the East Coast. I would highly recommend giving them a try. They are a bit of an upper class restaurant but they never disappoint!

I’ve been here 4-5 times now and every experience has been very similar: food is pretty good, atmosphere is alright, but the service is GARBAGE. Waiters take forever to take your order, appetizers can take 30+ minutes, and no one checks in on you once your order is placed.
For how expensive this place is, not worth going to until their operations improve substantially, in my opinion.

Pluses: The interior design is outstanding, and the service is friendly and accommodating.
Minuses: When we visited, the music was way too loud to permit normal conversation. They said they could lower the volume of the speaker over our heads, but we didn't notice any change.
For what it's worth: The clientele was about 80% college-age, which is fine but might explain the peculiar music mix, which seemed inspired by "24 Hour Party People."
The food: We enjoyed it, but our selections were anything but inspired, and we didn't see an Asian face anywhere in the food prep area. Looking forward to exploring the menu further.
Will we go back? Probably, if only to hang out at the bar.

LOVE this place !! i always crave their kimchi pork belly ramen and it always hit the spot when i visit !! pork belly bun was fluffy and delicate and very delicious !! cucumber with peanuts chill oil was very refreshing, it’s a palette cleanser !! black dragon sushi was okay, i am not sure it is worth of the price. even though the food and the atmosphere of this place is amazing, the reason why i have 4 stars for this review is i been to this place multiple times and their service is very on and off. i personally had two times that host was mean to me and my friends for no reason and had menus throwing on our table when we asked one. sometimes we go there and have the best/regular restaurant service that you get from any restaurants. overall, good place to visit and have some yummy food !

Went with a group of friends last night and the Chicken Miso Ramen was just we needed in the cold rainy weather. It was so flavorful and filling. The portions are honestly enough to share and the service is always great! Definitely my favorite ramen go to!

The restaurant looks amazing and we had a few good dishes but we had some very awful ones too. It was very bizarre. Sashimi was great, fried rice was the worst I’ve ever had. When we asked for a side of rice our server said they were all out. I asked the food runner to grab us one and it came immediately. How would a sushi restaurant or any Asian restaurant ever be out of rice?

Ukiyo is an inauthentic experience for those that care more about style than substance. The place is too loud and too cramped the food is generally flavorless except for the burnt taste from the okonomiyaki that came out overcooked. The service was average. All around it’s a subpar restaurant that honestly shouldn’t be as busy as it is. The decor is not bad though that’s why it gets 2 stars.

It was a good experience to dine at Ukiyo, it’s a ramen bar/ modern Japanese restaurant, the ambience is lovely m, I would recommend to make reservations the place is usually packed and quite busy hence long wait! This as my second time visiting the place, the drinks were amazing specially cocktails and they do carry some local Japanese sodas as well with the glass beads so it’s fun! We tried he white dragon sushi roll it was a amazing and delicious I would definitely recommend trying out their sushi it’s made in front of you if you are at the noodle bar and the quality is great! That being said the chicken ramen was not that great compared to my first time, it lacked flavor altogether and had less seasoning, same goes for the special ramen of the day so kind of disappointing in those terms but I do not want to conclude as a bad experience altogether. I liked the place overall and a good place to try out of you are into Japanese food! Overall it was a pleasant experience

Went on a girls trip with my mom for a few days and this was one of the highlights of our trip! Hailey was great and my mom (usually the super picky one and hard to please) said everything was 5 star! The specialty roll with lobster was great and the tonkatsu! Only comment would be to let people know the espresso martini comes with cinnamon on top there’s a lot of people who don’t like or are allergic! It was very good disregarding the cinnamon! Will definitely recommend to others and will return our next stay in Savannah!

I made a reservation and When we came in they made us wait almost 30 minutes without any acknowledgement and the music was too loud can't even hear each other. The vegetables romaine was too spicy and didn't get a warning.
