I have found my new sushi place in Colga. Everything was wonderful.
Service- Our waitress was phenomenal. She knew everything about the menu and gave great recommendations. She was so patient and kind. Noticing we ordered an entree that came on a skillet for our 5 yr old (I know, I know, but the kid needs his bulgogi), she set it on a seperate table and brought us a separate plate to keep him safe. She was wonderful!
Sushi chef - very kind and efficient. Service as items were completed instead of waiting for the entire table. Asked how everything was and seemed genuinely interested in our answer.
Atmosphere - small shotgun style restaurant with few tables and bar in front of the sushi counter. Late 90s early 00's hits playing on the radio. (One of our bench seats was sooooo squeaky though).
Food - rolls were well formed and kept their shape (Cali and rainbow). Nigiri was perfectly portioned and so buttery and fresh. Ginger dressing was homemade (different than the pink dressing at the other restaurants in colga, and in the best way). Chicken ramen - daughter (15y) said the broth instantly brought her into a great day. Huge portion, so she had it for dinner and probably lunch tomorrow as well. Bulgogi entree - son (5y) absolutely devoured this. Still a huge portion. So he has plenty of leftovers. Bulgogi was cooked so well and the flavor was great. Bulgogi Cupbap - hubby loved it with the spicy sauce.
They do have lunch specials mon-fri, which I'm excited to see about.
Kids menu - none available.
Seriously, this place was so wonderful we will be coming back.

This is a great little place with a large menu. I enjoyed the atmosphere with music playing in the background. I got in around 6:45pm on a Friday and it was pretty busy. I got lucky when I got here and was able to get the seat I had. I noticed while sitting that people just kept coming through the front door. All of the food I had gotten was fresh, hot, and DELICIOUS! The fried dumplings were the best I've had in a long time. Everything smelled just has delicious. I would get everything I had again. I will be coming back for more.

Quant and very low-key. Establishment is very clean, and the waitstaff was very polite and professional. The server suggested very tasty sushi, the Hawaiian roll, and The Mango2. They were both delicious. Ramen was tasty as well and nice portions. I would recommend this place for a date night or quite intimate lunch date.

Food was not hot. Chicken ramen taste like great value chicken broth and noodles. No depth of flavor. No love at all in the food. Katsu chicken was like a frozen chicken breast patty cooked in a microwave. Portions are big but you only eat it because you paid for it. Not impressed. The sushi must be keeping this place in business. I'll never know because I'm not going back.

I have been going to this place for years and never experienced any issues with the food. I came in about a month ago to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and both me AND his mother got incredibly sick. I threw up in the restaurant while she threw up in the car. I swear I have never felt that bad from eating food in my life. We are not the only people to get sick and they denied that it could be from the food. We are not the only ones who have gotten so sick, Haru do something about that!!!!!

I really used to like this place. I don’t eat raw items, so I was shocked to experience diarrhea two times along with my daughter.
I’ve never had an upset stomach after sushi. To see other people experiencing this makes me sad. I cannot go back…😕

This restaurant is under new management. Our family ordered bulgogi and cooked sushi. The shrimp in the sushi still had pieces of shells on them. We also got food poisoning from the cooked sushi. I would recommend you avoid this place.

Service is amazing but the food just isn’t good, possibly even spoiled. Tried sushi and bulgogi and the bulgogi had so much fat and gristle that I couldn’t eat it. Their air condition wasn’t working and they have fans running which were blowing on the tables. I didn’t feel great whenever I left but I figured it was because I was hot but I ended up very sick. Please be careful eating here.

I have been going to Haru since it opened. The staff are polite and extremely helpful. They make me feel like family every time I go in. The chefs are top tier. They get their fish fresh, and cook everything to perfection. I have never had an issue with any of my food being anything but fresh and perfect. This is by far the best sushi in town. I always get the OMG roll. it’s the best!! The chefs are some of the kindest people I’ve met. They are so welcoming and grateful to have you in their restaurant. I will never go anywhere else for sushi. The atmosphere here cannot be beat!

Service and atmosphere were top tier. The staff, specifically the cashier/hostess, was very friendly and amenable and during that experience (I ordered to-go), I thought I would be coming back to dine in. It’s lovely and quiet and cool inside with a low lit relaxing ambience. For these things I gave 5 stars each… but for the food… easily 1 star. If I could give negative stars I would… and I say that lightly. I ordered spicy tuna roll with Masago followed by the tower sushi (which also came with tuna). In both dishes the tuna was either rotten are starting to go bad. It tasted awful and had a dark brown-gray color to it rather than the light pink-orange color one might expect. In the tower sushi, it’s covered with a bunch of other things, so I did not readily observe the state of the fish (nor did it smell bad) until I actually had it in my mouth. Assuming maybe there was a foul ingredient I did not recognize I ate a piece of the spicy tuna roll and immediately tasted the same thing. I thought maybe the color of the sushi roll at that point before popping it in my mouth was just the flavorings…nope. The Masago that was put on top also had a weird taste to it.
I had also ordered the beef ramen and experienced the same thing. Parts of the beef in my ramen were fresh while other pieces tasted bad like it had begun to spoil. The noodles were also very soggy. The broth was A-1 tho and so were the bits of Naruto. Those were the only good things from my meal…
…and I easily spent $45 dollars on this meal to eat very little of it.

So we have been eating at the restaurant. For a few years now sense Covid. It was always extremely good a well prepared food. We went tonight 6/10/24 an ordered 4 sushi rolls cooked
A one Katsu plate a one bowl. There is between 4 people. Two kids two adults. To start off with the sushi out of the four rolls the taste was bland not fresh. An all prepared the same way. At the time we found out the owners had changed The katsu was just fried chicken. A before you think that’s what it is look up chicken katsu. This was the start for the first distrust of the new management. To further This. Three out of the people had food sickness one threw up an liquid out the bottom. As well as one of the adults the other kid has had stomachs cramps sense we left one adult had extreme diarrhea headed towards Home Depot in Phenix city. I have yet to show symptoms. I will not eat at this restaurant any more. Due to how food was prepared and served short cuts were taken. A the new chefs skills are not on par with last chef. This a warning to local a traveling people. We had so called cooked sushi. I can only imagine how it would have turned out had we went the other way. Rolls were CSU power Philadelphia tornado. And fried snapper which came out not fried. Chicken ramen. An chicken katsu

The best pork katsudon in town! The crispy pork is cut into strips and laid on top a bed of fried rice.. but, not the frozen kind. There’s no peas, or weird carrot cubes. It’s strictly white rice, teriyaki sauce, caramalized onions, and egg.

We ate here today in restaurant. And I was honestly very taken back at the service we have gotten, while waiting for our food— my 2 year old made ONE loud noise and the server came to tell us “if she continues to make loud noises that we have to leave or go outside with her”. This restaurant was NOT busy either. I would understand completely if she repeatedly made “loud noises” but she didn’t it was her FIRST loud noise. I asked him if that was policy and he told me “no there is no policy I just would prefer”.. I am so disappointed, no family should be put through this.
Food came and our shrimp shumai was cold— But they got it reheated for us— the rest of our food was okay

My dish came out almost 40 min to an hour before my girlfriend got her food. If more staff gets hired then this place would be amazing. Right now they don’t handle the dinner rush well.
The food however was great.

I’ve been going here since they opened. The service and good quality keeps going downs. The last two times the server is always forgetting to put our app or entree in. No big deal really, just have to wait a bit longer. (The last two times we’ve been the only table) Today they double charged our card and was basically. Oh well. Call us if it doesn’t get refunded. The server with the pony tail really does care all that much and isn’t the best at his job.

If I can give zero stars I would because what me and my best friend experience at this establishment was unacceptable. My best friend and I decided to give this restaurant a try because its new to Columbus. As we looked at the menu we saw that they had a few things on the menu we could actually eat because me nor my best friend eats shellfish for religious reasons so we made sure to ask questions. So my best friend order the Salmon lover sushi but the waitress got her order wrong due to her not writing it down. Then when my best friend kindly told the waitress that her order was wrong and that we cannot have shellfish the waitress began to raised her voice and argued at my friend claiming she didn't order what she said she did. We are nice people and don't like conflict so this was embarrassing for us. We will not visit this restaurant anymore.

Both waitress stared while we ate making it so uncomfortable then our waitress never acknowledged us for the special gift as I saw her and the other waitress and waiter do with everyone else. Upon asking, she was very nonchalant about it and walked away but as we left, she dashed to our table looking for a tip I'm sure. Just know that there are people who are very aware of their environment and know good service when given so watch how you act towards people. I'm sorry that I can't change the color of my skin for you to treat me like everyone else.

I have been here a few times. The sushi is the best thing in the menu. The ramen is not very flavorful and the chicken teriyaki is not my favorite. It's diced chicken with some sauce poured on it. I came in and ordered chicken teriyaki to go with a side of rice. The rice was not in my order. So I received what's in the picture and a small cup of soup for $16. Unfortunately that was money wasted and I'm still hungry.

I didn't like the food and the seating next to the wall is not very comfortable. The ramen tasted like just bullion cubes with not much seasoning and they don't offer Sriracha or salt and pepper at the tables, you have to ask for it to be brought out which I found kind of weird? Like normal seasonings aren't just already prepared at the table whereas other places its a common practice like Pho or Samurai sushi.

It's not a bad place. The interior is nice and clean. Clean bathrooms. But I was seriously disappointed by the agedashi dofu. It is nothing like what you normally get in a Japanese restaurant. It was just cubes of battered and fried tofu with a very bland sauce on the side. And the tofu was the hard kind. I was expecting the soft silken tofu in broth with all the toppings. I was curious about the green tea ramen, so I had that. Again, it wasn't bad, but not great either. It's just a vegetarian ramen with a tea bag stuck in it. I don't think the tea bag really added to the flavor of the broth much. I'm willing to give the place another try, but I will try the tonkotsu ramen next time. I wasn't expecting anything as good as I have had in Japan, but when a friend told me there was finally a good ramen place in town I think I set my expectations a bit too high. The service is good. The waitress was very attentive. I think I just didn't pick the best things on the menu.

We have made it here twice now and it did not disappoint 🤤
The second time now we tried another raw sushi roll (tuna lovers) and another deep fried roll (power Philadelphia) and they were amazing and so fresh.
We also tried the the udon soup with fried tofu and it was really rich in flavor. With fresh veggies.
And another all time favorite of ours are Edamame - let me tell you, not everyone knows how to actually add some extra flavor to these but HaRu Sushi did 🎉
If you have not tried this - please sit down and have a meal - it will be well worth it.

The tonkatsu ramen here taste like cup noodle soup. If you want real ramen I wouldn't order that here. The cashu is overcooked and they serve it with a hard boiled egg. The noodles taste like they are from the Nissin cup noodle brand. The broth also has no flavor. I am comparing this to ramen I've had at Jinya ramen.

I've been here a few times. The service is good. I can't say it's the best ramen I've ever had, as the noodles aren't as thick as I'm used to, but still good. They have a pretty good selection of sushi for people who don't really eat the raw stuff like my son. My 12 year old loves the place. My Korean mom is more critical and is just like ehhh it's ok to her. They don't serve drinks off a tap only bottled water and canned drinks so no refills unless you pay for another drink which I don't too much care for at restaurants. So as Columbus didn't have ramen places it filled that niche for now.

Got some Ramen and Sushi from here. The Ramen was fantastic, delicious and tasty with the broth being warm (we got it to go). The Sushi on the other hand...
The Sushi was sub par. The rice didn't taste fresh and the sushi was poorly wrapped and made. The fish was also less than enjoyable. I enjoyed it far less than I'd of hoped but the Ramen made up for it.

Our second visit and enjoyed it greatly! New favorite sushi place. Spring rolls were also delicious, son enjoyed his Ramen and everyone else enjoyed their dinner. Service was great but did take a while to get our food which we understand they are short staffed and they were very busy. Overall love it all

This review is for the ramen exclusively.
Unfortunately the ramen was a big disappointment here. Husband got Tonkotsu Ramen and I got the Miso Ramen. Neither of us were happy with the flavor or quality. Broth was all right, nothing special and the noodles felt cheap and badly cooked. There was a sad egg half with half the yolk missing in mine. Husband said the pork in the Tonkotsu Ramen was small and bland. Eggs in both our ramens were overcooked.
I wanted a good, authentic ramen place in town, but this isn’t it.
The service was great, very friendly. The atmosphere was everything I want in a ramen house. I wish it could have been the quality of ramen I was hoping for.

I would advise everyone to ignore Rick Goebel’s review. Myself and my girlfriend ate here yesterday 4/26/2021 and had a great time as well as a pleasant food experience. The staff were friendly and attentive. The sushi was great as was the ramen bowl and bulgogi bowl. While dining we watched how patient the staff were with customers and if the waitress were helping a customer the kitchen staff would serve the table.

I am not sure why people have been so generous with their reviews. Hotdog pieces are not sausage, two leaf's of kimchi is not a enough to impart any flavor to a bowl of Ramen and if it's in your name you have to be great at it! It is obvious that the dishes were dirty due to my explosive upset stomach (15 minutes after eating there) . Focus on your noodles, You will never get famous on sushi! Hire and train your staff! You are on the right track, but you have to perform the little tasks correctly, each and every time.

I enjoyed my 1st visit to Haru just now. I was greeted time I approached the door and offered my choice of seating. My server was a sweet guy w/ glasses and very attentive. I ordered the spring rolls and caliente roll and omg! My entire meal was delicious and made with love and care. I have no idea where they found that jalapeno pepper but it's the hottest one I've ever had in my life and rivaled the wasabi.... and I was in burning-mouth heaven. Will return! <3

Probably the best sushi place I have ever eaten at all my life and that is saying something. My husband and I are practically sushi conissuers. We have had sushi practically all over the east coast. This place is phenomenal. Affordable and the fish is so fresh. It is a small and intimate place to eat. Try the orange blossom roll if you love salmon. They have a very big menu. There is a lot to choose from. I did not get Ramen but it looked very good. This is the best sushi place in Columbus for sure. Don't waste your time anywhere else.

Their customer service was kind, personal, and attentive. It's "clean as a whistle" according to my Top Ramen loving kid, who also implored me that we should return. The menu has a great selection. Food is superb and fresh! We will be repeat customers!

I have had plenty of Sushi and this was the best. HaRu is a real Japanese sushi and ramen joint! Hands down best I have had in a long time.

I can't say enough about the senior waiter at Haru Sushi. I think his name is Mikey. It was busy when I came but he was kind and helpful.

Absolutely the best and currently busiest Asian restaurant in town. Plan to show up earlier on the weekend to beat the crowds. Ramen is very tasty and gave me childhood nostalgia. The sushi menu is HUGE but don't let that intimidate you. This place has the best sushi in town hands down. If you like Asian food, you can't go wrong at all with this place. The inside feels very homely and cozy. They have a very polite and understanding staff if you get overwhelmed by the big menu. 10/10 recommend trying this place at least once whether you live in Columbus or are just passing through. :)

Went here for my birthday lunch and it was absolutely amazing. We’re so happy to have a decent ramen shop to go to. That Lion Roll is a MUST TRY! It was so fresh and so delicious that my husband even stole half of it from me. 🙄😂 Our waitress was also very lovely and friendly. Definitely a family friendly place and we’ll be returning often!

Let me start off by saying that not only was the food delicious!!! But the amount of hospitality that we’ve received upon, during and after our visit was one of the best services we received during our time here in Georgia. Our server this week was an older woman who was on top of things just as our server the week before! Definitely a place to visit if you are looking for great food and service in the Columbus area. Alofa aku ❤️
What you see are the following orders:
Japanese Curry Katsu
Bulgogi Plate
Sushi-
Lion’s Roll
Gorilla Roll

I have been a few times since they have opened, and I have loved every visit. I'm glad to have a place that serves ramen in town. The chicken ramen was amazing, and so was the tonkatsu.
The sushi has also been fantastic. Good quality ingredients, lots of variety of rolls (the fried Monkey Brain roll sounds awful, but tastes fantastic).
Would highly recommend! They do get busy around 7pm, and there can be a wait, so I'd suggest going a bit earlier to avoid the crowd.
