Mujō is one star MICHELIN rated intimate modern edomae-style sushi-ya serving seasonal, high-end sushi & nigiri, omakase-only led by Chef J. Trent Harris.
Wowowow!! I went to Mujō for dinner as someone who really has never had nigiri or craved it (my boyfriend reaaaaally likes this kinda stuff though). I was honestly nervous about whether I would enjoy the food if I hadn’t previously enjoyed raw fish. I WAS SO IMPRESSED!! All of the food was so amazing (except for the uni/sea urchin but I feel like that’s an acquired taste). Even things like mackerel (which I’ve had before but was always way too fishy for me) were perfectly prepared and not fishy at all. There were a lot of other supplemental options, but the staff were not pushy in the least. The chefs were friendly and welcomed conversation if you asked questions. The vibe wasn’t pretentious at all but was definitely luxurious! Even the bathrooms had heated seats and one of the most fancy bidets I have ever seen. This meal was so much fun from start to finish and was such a joy to experience. The price tag is very high but I feel like the experience we got was so worth it. Everything was so thought through, every flavor was beautifully balanced, and they even give you a pretty little Japanese fabric as a thank you for coming.. GORGEOUS!! If I had unlimited cash, I’d come here all the time! Don’t get me started on the ice cream.. it was so perfect.

Mujo has five star potential but I gave it only two stars for a specific faux pas for fine dining.
Let's start with the positives: The ingredients were fresh with fish flowin in twice a week from Japan. The atmopshere was intimate and comfortable. The service aura behind, both, the sushi bar and cocktail bar was what you would find in Japan: more introverted, serious about the craft, soft spoken. The service staff were friendly, attentive and had great attention to detail. You can tell they were well trained in their protcols. Finally, I liked the diversity of the staff for the goodness of that and proving strong training can give you the feel of a cultural experience.
Now for why I am not giving this place five stars...
I have had many omakase experiences, and separately, many Michelin rated restaurants. This is the first Michelin or omakase restaurant that tries to aggessively upsell you. For example, they gave you a menu with nine items to purchase in addition to the omakase. Typically, I would see a list of what they are serving in the omakase instead of a list of things they want me to add-on. This demonstrates where management's empahsis is: on the upsell vs the core omakase menu and experience. Another example, the service staff asked at least three times (maybe four) if we wanted to add more. In all the other omakase experiences I have had you would get more than you could eat and the decisions you had to make were the win pairing and maybe a caviar add on.
Keep in mind the term omakase is Japanse for "I'll leave it up to you" referring to the chef. It is not supposed to be a normal restaurant experience.
To the owners or management, I urge you be more true to the omakase experience and take out the aggessive upsell. Fair if you want to charge more - your clientele is prepared for it. But it's not a great fine dining experience when you are being asked multipel times if you want to buy more.
Overall, I enjoyed my time here and the food was good. It was not the best sushi I've had but it was high quality. Aside from the upselling, the service was excellent.
My friend and I ended the night with a $1,056 bill in which we tipped an extra $250. This was about the same as my bill at Alan Ducasse in Paris (3 Michelin stars). Ducasse was far superior experience and they did not try to upsell me once.

One of the best dinning experiences I have had. The food was fresh and delicious. I can not wait to come back. Service was impeccable.
If you get the beverage pairing, get ready for story time, it was super informative and I found it entertaining. We added Wagyu Temaki Beef Tataki, Caviar Service and I LOVED the Foie Gras Monaka!!!!!!
But let me tell you the bestest thing and personal favorite was THE DESSERT, OBSESSED. It was an overall spectacular evening. Thank you all so much! It was amazing :) oh and they have heated toilet seats 😅
So I accidentally went to the place
next door, so don’t make my mistake.
I recommend the restaurant next door

The imported ingredients from Japan were superbly prepared. The chef and staff demonstrated impressive knowledge and attention to detail. The meal was a delightful culinary journey, leaving us pleasantly surprised by the high quality and expertise evident in every dish. Valet parking is hassle free and most convenient. Make sure you allocate plenty of time to enjoy your meal. If you love sushi and Japanese cuisine, this intimate restaurant is a must try!

Mujo offers some of the highest quality sushi and craftsmanship that Atlanta has to offer. The head sushi chef's here truly are top notch at their craft.
All the sushi is fantastic and mostly imported from Japan. My favorite was the uni, although not the best uni I've ever had, not even close. Again, the head sushi chefs were great. I had a front row view and got to witness his knifework firsthand. Very even cuts, thin slices when necessary.
The space itself has a very corporate feel, with many chefs running around behind the scenes. The music is blaring, and people are boisterous and drunk. It's definitely not a traditional setting or ambiance for authentic omikase.
The service is moderately paced, so you certainly don't feel rushed. The quantity leans towards the smaller side, but for the price, it is reasonable. The supplemental prices are questionable for what you get but still worth trying out. The ice cream is not as good as everyone says it is, somewhat bland... every piece of ngiri was great though, perfect amount of Wasabi and soy. Staff is attentive and responsive, willing to cater to whatever request you may have.
There's better omikase out there. Skip out on this corporate experience and find more authentic spots like hayakawa, omikase counter, or omikase by Yun.

This place puts the "art" in the culinary arts. Every part of this dining experience is expertly curated like any extraordinary Japanese meal should be: from the place settings to the colors, from the dashi (oh my gosh, the dashi!) to the miso caramel sauce, everything was infused with the simple elegance I remember from the island, while still feeling local and informed by its place.
The staff were excellent and made me feel like a special part of their process. The chefs are consummate professionals; the economy of motion he displayed with his knife-work and shaping technique was incredible.
Some recommendations. The Hokkaido crab is excellent. I was told it arrives weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays; you simply can't pass it up if you happen to be there on those days (though I'm sure it's brilliant on other days, as well). I enjoyed the rare (in America) opportunity to have real wasabi (not your usual horseradish); so any dish that is wasabi forward is great. The spirits and wine were great; cocktails are an excellent choice, and my wife loved the non-alcoholic wine she had. I got the basic wine pairings; it was very good, but I would say (only) one or two were truly transformative during the coursing. Still worth it, I think, but something to be aware of if you are price-conscious.
This isn't the kind of place I can go regularly, but I wish I could. I'll be back when I can.

We have visited Mujo Sushi several times, and our experiences have been consistently exceptional. Our first visit was three weeks after it opened, and even then, the quality of the food was outstanding. The sushi was incredibly fresh, with flavors that were both delicate and vibrant.

I’m baffled at how this place could even be considered for a Michelin star. I’ve had Omakase all over the world, and while the fish was fresh and the nigiri preparation was simple and clean, there was absolutely zero creativity. The food was just fine — a 7/10 at best — and that score is mostly because the fish tasted fresh. In a city with so many innovative Omakase options, Mujo place feels uninspired.
The experience was equally disappointing. The manager was inconsiderate & slightly rude, and the staff hovered uncomfortably close in what was already a cramped space, making the atmosphere feel invasive. In fact they stood 2 feet directly behind us, leaving no room for any private conversation. To make matters worse, the music was loud and the playlist obnoxious, completely ruining any sense of tranquility. For $400 per person, I expect an unforgettable dining experience, but the only unforgettable moment was watching the other side of the restaurant food bar area being bussed/cleaned, complete with sanding the bar — sending dust flying toward food meant for customers. This was a shocking health code violation and an absolute deal-breaker.
It feels like they’re trying to impress in all the wrong ways. The food and experience were completely unremarkable, and I can’t recommend this place to anyone seeking memorable dining. Trying too hard in the wrong areas (sanding the bar after each section clears out) . They should focus on creating a culinary experience. Everyone who comes will be a one and done customer. Not worth the hype or the Michelin star.

We did the private omakase room for 5 and the vibe was perfect. I know some Michelin star places that don't offer the private suite, so that was nice. Had a really great time. Really good drinks. Really fresh sushi. Great experience. Really attentive and knowledgeable chef.

This was my first omakase experience and it set a high bar. Impeccable service with an inviting staff. Chefs were friendly and the food was delicious. Nigiri that melts in your mouth with beautiful citrus smokey and umami notes. Desserts that light the tastebuds. A5 wagyu in a ponzu blend. I am still salivating thinking about it.

We went to Mujo for my husband's birthday and it was the perfect experience for him as he loves crafted cocktails and all things Japanese. You are welcome (and almost encouraged) to ask questions during the dinner. We made friends with everyone in there from Katy at the front to Mike at the bar, to the support staff that is there to move your dishes when you don't even notice, check on you, and give you the best experience. The head chef, Chef Harris and Chef Guson (probably spelling that wrong) were the best and extremely knowledgeable. Tips when you go: eat the entire sushi in one bite and immediately when it's ready. I would also recommend you live in the moment..no need to have your phone out- enjoy it! It was the best birthday gift and I also had the best time. I really want to come back especially because they cater the menu to the ever-changing fish seasons so their menu changes constantly.

Went here for my 25th birthday celebration! My first Omakase experience which also happens to be a Michelin Star restaurant. It is $$$ experience ofc. Valet only and in the heart of midtown.
The restaurant itself is small but beautiful. Simple and elegant design. A very authentic experience. The service was immaculate. There is staff on the floor throughout the experience to answer any questions and to clean up. They were so nice that I asked for a Coke (yes I know) and they got it from next door.
The dishes were well curated and we had a wonderful chef who served us each piece of nigiri by hand. Each with a different flavor profile. The dessert was chef’s kiss. Why I deducted a point is because it wasn’t the best food I have ever had. It was unique yes, but the food was very mediocre. I would not pay that price again for the food I got.
I highly recommend for a unique experience!

Mujo certainly has a well deserved Michelin star though guests should know they have many more stars, true stars, the staff. we tremendously enjoyed our evening with Chef Jordan, Chef Grace, Jason, Reny, mixologist Mike and many others who passionately attended to every detail making this a magical evening for me and my wife with food that is splendid beyond imagination. Mujo is one of the top restaurants in our country for sure. Thanks to the team and hope to be back soon again.

We went for my partner's birthday and this was our first omakase experience. Our experience included all 15 courses and three cocktails. We enjoyed three gin cocktails (all but the negroni) and they were perfection. Our omakase selection was paired with premium wine and sake. Additionally, we ordered negitoro tamaki (handroll) and the waygu with an optional truffle topping. Although I did not enjoy it because the truffle was overpowering and took away from enjoying the wagyu, my partner really loved it. Keep in mind, I am tolerant of mushrooms but not a huge fan. Service was superb. Two other parts I did not enjoy: 1) the red wine pairing as I am not do not enjoy it. However, the wait staff were very observant and replaced it with a delectable Rose.2) The grilled mackerel was too fishy for me and I did not like it but my partner loved it. Another note is that I only enjoy white fish meat and it refuse to consume cooked fish which has that "fishy" taste. Highly recommend!
The only complaint is that we were caddy cornered and my partner did not have a view of the entire establishment due to a pillar impeding her line of vision. In my opinion, it took away from the experience of observing the prestigious chefs at work.
Some people would say the music is too loud but what I thought it was great to drown out other people's conversations in the room. I thought of it as a way to create faux experience of my partner and I having our own omakase experience while tuning the world out around us. As they say, to each their own.
Highly recommend!

Perfectly prepared nigiri. Very cool atmosphere. Exceptional although a bit unrelenting of service. Best old-fashioned I've ever had.
Bottom line is that you are unlikely to feel satiated unless you buy many of the pricy add-ons. You will also feel "left-out" and underwhelmed as you watch the chefs prepare more engaging courses for the guests around you while you are still on your umpteenth (although exceptional) iteration of nigiri. It's hard to write this review of a Michelin-star restaurant without feeling "cheap" for not happily buying the add-ons, but I think it needs to be said. My party of 2 spent $790 after tax and standard gratuity; in total we ordered 2 omakase seats, 4 of their cheapest drinks, and 1 of the cheaper add-on fish items. We ran to Cookout after to fuel up. While I recognize the value of the Michelin experience to some, I think a less stuffy omakase option would be much more comfortable and fulfilling for most.

Very intimate atmosphere and pristine service. The sushi counter was sanded down after each guest and soft to touch. Very unique. Highly recommend the caviar and the uni nigiri (a la carte). The dessert at the end was also delicious. Some reasons I could not give it a 5-star rating: the high price point for an Omakase service and the reservation windows being extremely limited and difficult to obtain. It took me several attempts to get a reservation for 2. I’ve had my fair share of Omakase all over the US and spent significantly less for the same quality (if not better) sushi/sashimi.

This is not a restaurant. It is an experience.
Although I've done fine dining, I've never been to a Michelin star restaurant, and they did not disappoint. They knew me by face upon entering, any waiter/waitress/sommelier in my vincity was mine, my water was never empty, the music selection was vast, and the atmosphere was chic, intimate, and neat.
As the only single diner, I was placed right in front of one of the 3 chefs, so I had a clear view of all preparation. Since it is omakase, there is no point in saying what I had because you'll likely have something totally different. They do have "supplements" that are constant to my knowledge, and I had the foie gras monaka. Everything I ate had a layers of flavors. A literal oral symphony. The uni (sea urchin) is indescribable.
The bathroom had a bidet, which is a first in any restaurant I've been to, everyone is knowledgeable and warm, they had Japanese chopsticks ( there is a difference in chopsticks!) and anytime I need to get up there was someone to pull my chair out and push me in.
I could go on and on. As a teacher, I can't do experiences like this often, so it was just a pure delight for me.
Just go. It is so worth every cent spent.

I've been lucky to have had several experiences at Mujo, and one things that consistently impresses me is the service. A lot of reviewers have already mentioned the food, so we know the food is good, but the true jewel of this restaurant is the GM, Katy. Her personable manner really makes a real difference from the moment you enter the restaurant to the moment you leave. The first time I ever walked into the restaurant, she greeted me by name and really made the entire experience feel very personalized and special. The little details feel attended to at Mujo, from the folded napkin awaiting you upon your return from the bathroom to the printed menu that’s given at departure. If you’re lucky to be able to snag a reservation, just know that your service experience is going to be top notch.

We were very excited to try Mujo for the first time. We have had omakase in other cities but this was the first time in Atlanta. We were celebrating birthdays for three out of the four of us and thought this would be fun. Unfortunately while the food was good and presented well the music was so loud we could t hardly hear. We even had trouble hearing the waitress. When I asked if they could turn the music down a bit we were told we should just speak louder. One member of our party was also sat on the corner and was awkwardly placed to engage in conversation. The chef, not the lead, barely spoke to us other than to tell us what was being placed in front of us. Only when asked or prompted was more detail provided. All in all we just felt like they were not concerned with our satisfaction and that we were wrong to ask for any change. For this price point I left with ringing ears and dissatisfaction. Maybe it would be ok for just a couple but not for more than that if you want to talk to each other.

One of the best meals of my life. From start to finish, the ambiance was amazing with the music and strategic lighting-I felt like I was at home in ATL! All the employees were extremely nice and I had some great conversations and enjoyed myself. Food quality was perfect, My personal favorites were the Japanese barracuda, the ossetra caviar plate, and the otoro/uni handrolls. Miso soup was also above and beyond, amazing deep flavor and color that I’ve never tasted before with Miso. Sesame Ice cream was unbelievable to finish, extremely complex delicious flavors. Had a great time and would love to come back soon. Freshest and best Omakase in Atlanta.

There’s so many great things to talk about when it comes to Mujo. From the fact that their fish is flown in daily from Japan to the excellent beverage pairing they offered to the best tasting caviar I’ve had, everything was great about this place. Our chefs were well versed on the menu, the wait staff was well versed with the drinks and menu options s as well. We tried so many types of fish, many of which we’d never tried before. Though there may have been one or two that had a slight fishy odor, every fish was so fresh and well prepared by each chef. We came for our anniversary and are looking forward to coming back soon. My husband whom isn’t the biggest lover of all things fish like I am even was so impressed and happy at the end of the night. We tried squid, sea urchin, mackerel, tuna, barracuda, and so many other fish. It’s a 10 sashimi plus two to three appetizers and two desserts menu so come hungry. Be prepared to drop some serious money though and enjoy every minute of this omakase experience. This deserved the Michelin star that they received recently.

The service and attention to detail this restaurant takes is unmatched by any restaurant I have dined at. Even when compared to the other Michelin starred restaurants in Atlanta, this one stands above all others.
The staff is able to anticipate your every want/need and will take amazing care of you. The vibe is very chill and relaxing. The music is tasteful and played at an appropriate volume.
You get the feeling that your are welcome and respected which is sadly becoming excitedly rare for restaurants in Atlanta.

Mujo does so much right I can’t say they did anything wrong. If you visiting this restaurant park is not a problem there is valet parking after your dinner finishes you will be out 7$ plus tip. The restaurant can be missed easily the restaurant signage is very small and at night nearly invisible. First of all if you can get a seat here on Resy if you don’t cancel within 3 days if you can’t make it you will still have to pay the booking fee. When you walk in the atmosphere is mood setting. Even if you arrive early they sit you at the bar and your can order off their insane drink menu. Seriously, it is 30 pages with like 300 wines, sprits, cocktails and other drinks but at the same time there is 600+ bottle of wines on there. Once your table is ready they will transfer your drinks over to your spot at the table. The fish is deboned already but all sushi is prepared in front of you. They even have fresh wasabi and it is real
wasabi not horseradish/fake stuff, it is pasted in front of you. A5 wagyu was expensive on the menu but it was worth it, I recommend you try it. The menu does change daily according to Mujo but my meal was amazing but something to note is if you want to order a side dish or drink and can only do it in the first hour and 30mins of the 2 hour plus dinner. Be prepared to stay at least 3 hours when you visit. Throughout the night Mujo can offer a few surprises throughout the night but your experience may vary. Another plus is they give you a list of all the dishes they served at the end no need to remember name just remember order if your favorite. Overall I loved this place top 3 of all the restaurant I visited in Georgia not just Atlanta. The tastiest and best dining experience of my lifetime so far. The Michelin star was well deserved. Appreciated all the staff, including Chef Harris, commenting they’re committed to maintaining the standards worthy of it every year. A special shout out to our chef David! Incredible.

I’m always a little torn reviewing omakase experiences claiming an edomae style because 1) I’m not Japanese so what do I know really, 2) I shouldn’t have high expectations because ATL isn’t really known to be a hotspot for Japanese cuisine, 3) I don’t know how much leeway is normally given to a type of cuisine before it becomes fusion or some sort of abomination. Feel like it’s all relative depending on how much of a purist you are I suppose.
With all that said, I’ll start by saying the service I had at Mujo was hands-down some of the absolute best I’ve ever experienced. Walking into the restaurant feels a little cozy but the darkness keeps it from being too claustrophobic. The walls could extend to infinity for all I knew. The dining area is sparsely lit but lit well enough to keep your focus on the food, the chefs, and your dining companions. Meanwhile the staff is ready in the shadows to hop in and assist you at every moment. You can make a mess and they’ll smoothly swoop in and keep your space uncluttered of errant rice or sauce. Early on in the omakase experience I lowkey was worried because I didn’t want the residue on my wooden chopsticks to alter the flavor of future dishes and, to my surprise, they were swapped out and I could continue my meal without having to voice any concerns. I realized after looking around I was maybe a little underdressed but other than me noticing it myself no one made me feel any sort of way about it.
The food was excellent. My wife and I had the omakase. I had the beverage pairing which was very thoughtfully presented and explained. We shared some addons that were shareable - the wagyu, Hokkaido hairy crab, and the Japanese mackerel. Also we both got the fatty tuna temaki (hand rolls). All the food was tasty, as expected at this price point.
The slight issues I had was cost and fish variety but with the obscenely great service and knowing ATL is a bit further from Japan.. I’ll give them a pass. But similar west coast experiences would probably be about 25-33% less in cost and maybe 15-20% more fish and might have more locally sourced seafood presented. Not sure I’d want anything from Lake Lanier in sushi form though… so yeah, we’ll take what we can get.
For the uninitiated, most omakase experiences at nicer sushi restaurants can be such a fun and interactive way to eat because almost every sushi chef I’ve dined with has been awesome at explaining and talking through their process and Chef Trent was no exception. Ingredients, sourcing, preparation methods, almost anything. It’s a very unique and personalized form of dining and in combination with Mujo’s excellent service my wife and I had a great dinner. There were some nice little touches throughout the 2.5 experience and there may be some seasonality with it so I’ll leave some surprises outside of the review. Overall we were impressed, and will definitely try them again.

Mujō is an inspired place with an absolutely wonderful atmosphere. The stark black walls combined with the black clothes of the servers and muted lighting makes the excellent service just blend into the background. The brightly lit bar and kitchen area you sit at focuses you on the sushi that is absolutely delicious.
The fact that the Michelin guide isn't in Atlanta means that this spot is not going to get the recognition they deserve, but the experience easily rivals any Michelin restaurant I have been to.
Thank you for a wonderful time!
Edit: now that the Michelin guide is coming to ATL, get in before you have to wait a year! Seriously amazing food, seriously amazing people here. The precision is unreal and combining that with the quirky, southern (or ATL) charm is something that I think mujō can teach many Michelin restaurants to grow into a further towards

Dined there and this is probably a high 3 for the price to food ratio
Pros: omakase non-sushi items are all excellent (both savory and desert), almost which this was kaiseki / non sushi instead given strengths
Cool sleek interior and ambience
Most of service
Accommodating of both dairy and kosher restrictions
Cons: service as far as sake pouring was a bit intrusive because of how fast / often came to pour. The servers also moved very quickly, spilling water on our area once and pushing my friend and a woman into the bar seating since not patient enough to wait for them to be ready 😅
Sushi rice - the rice tasted very strongly of vinegar and overpowered almost every dish we had with the exception of 2 of the 10 nigiri (could only taste wasabi in 1 so lighter flavors didn’t stand much of a chance)
Price / value ratio: in nyc which is a pricier operating market this omakase price would get you much better nigiri

Great: I’ve been there 3 times and fully enjoy the food; service is impeccable. Wine is amazing. Ambiance is special!
Bad: The menu cocktails are just okay; unbalanced in my opinion. The strict reservations/cancellation fee that doesn’t even allow you to move your reservation is extremely harsh; make sure you really want to go and don’t have any emergencies.

I wanted to like this place. The ambiance, setting and overall organization is solid. However, the experience is garbage for the price. You pay 500-750 a person to be rushed through a few small plates and some nigiri. There is a luck of the draw depending on what chef you’re assigned as to whether you’ll get any background or explanation whatsoever on what you’re consuming. Even then, none of the chefs appeared to be engaged at all or have any personality. We were lucky enough to have the one chef who literally did nothing more than name the fish you were being provided. We couldn’t understand a word she said though and had to resort to looking at the menu they provided post-meal. I urge you to look elsewhere for an omakase experience in Atlanta as this just isn’t it.

The food was mediocre at best. Under seasoned, gummy, and average in quality. Don’t bother purchasing the wine pairing. They are not meaningfully selected by course. In reality, you’re purchasing an experience and ambiance both of which are enjoyable and beautiful. The staff was kind and efficient. However, not worth $1000 price tag for two people, especially considering food should be what makes your restaurant shine not the decor.

Mujo's goal is to separate you from as much of your money as possible. The sushi is very mediocre. The staff works hard to sell you supplements that are subpar and overpriced; they hope that their "elite" status and "tough to get a reservation" glow will compel you to buy the $150+ drink pairing instead of the $95 pairing; they charge you $8 per person for the tap water. The head chef completely lacks in personality, which actually matches the sushi pieces, which lack personality. A party of two will leave $800+ poorer for the occasion and feel like they could have done just as well spending $120 at any run of the mill sushi place around town. Save yourself from the agony.

NYC prices, Columbus (Ohio) Omakase. Serene setting, focused service, subpar sushi. Edomae-style nigiri requires extra prep and care. I have no doubt that the crew excels in this area, but we found the output to be wanting: a number of pieces were gummy (not as fresh as should be; maybe because prepped earlier in the evening?) and a number of pieces lacked sufficient zest. Simply stated, there are many sushi restaurants in Atlanta that offer a superior omakase. None of them come close to Mugo in price. There is a lot of flash, but the reality is that it is designed to suck out your cash. Don’t believe the hype, go elsewhere.

This is one of the best restaurants in Atlanta right now… No exaggeration if you want to spend at least $300 per person you must eat here!

The restaurant itself is very beautiful and well designed, but if you’re looking for a true traditional Omakase experience, I don’t recommend dining here. There are other places in the city that are much more worth the price. I have had a real Omakase experience in a few other restaurants (& in Japan), but here it feels very contrived.
I would like to mention that my partner was running late and they did the best to accommodate him upon his arrival and catch up dishes, which I appreciated. Overall, the staff is friendly and attentive, but almost to a fault. It feels like they are rushing you with every course.
In my previous experiences elsewhere, the chefs want to speak to their guests to make sure they are enjoying everything/explain where things came from. However, at this restaurant, it seems the chefs aren’t very friendly and it feels like they don’t want to explain or answer any questions about the food.
The dishes themselves were just okay. The only thing that was memorable to me was the dessert (which was excellent and beautifully plated). But at a sushi restaurant, the dessert shouldn’t be the highlight.
Overall, it’s incredibly expensive for the experience and IMO, not worth it.

Upscale omakase dining experience. Not the appropriate venue to photograph food. Extremely limited seating, maybe enough for 14-16 patrons max. Meals are coursed, but a touch on the speedy side. Each menu item is thoroughly explained in both origin and preparation. Sushi is served from lean to fatty, which I enjoyed. The foie gras, wagyu and sesame ice cream were all to die for. The entire staff worked symbiotically to ensure a premier dining experience. Certainly a one-of-a-kind, luxury affair.

It’s not Edomae style Omakase. Not worth the money at all. Shari was not properly seasoned and the chef who made Nigiri was not skillful and probably didn’t know how to cut fish in a proper way. I would wait for reopening of Omakase by Yun.

It was the worst experience in a restaurant I ever had, not to mention that there was mistreatment by the manager, and the food was NOTHING exceptional.
To summarize the most overrated and overpriced restaurant in Atlanta. Here I share my experience: (PLEASE READ FULLY)
1. Your staff don't let you eat in peace or enjoy the conversation. The servers were on top of my friend and me all the time, asking if we had finished. They were trying to take away the dishes all the time while we were still working on them. They won't let us talk all the time; they were on top of us, pressing us to eat quickly.
2. They threw a whole glass of wine on me and the guy next to me due to their rush to make us eat quickly. They kept running their hands across the table, trying to remove the dishes, even though they noticed we were eating. The gentleman beside me was completely wet after the waitress split the entire glass of wine on us. I understand that accidents happen, but this was only caused by the eagerness of trying to make you eat quickly and putting hands in and out of the table all the time.
3. The manager needs to be fired ASAP. It was the last nigiri (they hadn't even delivered it to me), and she approached me and told me are you going to eat it, or are you going to skip it? Because we are closing in 30 minutes. I was shocked.
EXCUSE ME? It is not supposed to be one of the top restaurants in Atlanta where basic rules of hospitality should exist? How a manager approaches a client, while the food is not even delivered, to say they are closing soon, please eat or skip.
My friend and I ended up skipping dessert and leaving. We felt rushed, harassed, and disrespected by the manager and also by the entire approach to the experience.
To summarize:
- The truth is that the food is 5 points. Tastier sushi can be found anywhere else, even so in delivery.
- The service is terrible. Not only because they mistreat you, but they also make you feel like you have to eat quickly. And worst of all, it's the most overpriced and overrated restaurant I've been to.
- Last and not least important. Gang music in an omakase place.

Service was excellent, very friendly and attentive staff. The drinks were on point, if a little pricey for Atlanta. The sushi quality and preparation were not on par with similar places in other major cities. The wasabi was overpowering on the initial pieces. Balance improved on later pieces with feedback, but the fish quality was still lacking. The fatty tuna had a very disappointing, tough connective tissue running through the piece. Not sure if it is a fish quality or preparation issue, but ultimately this place is not worth the price or the hype.

Top tier sushi up there with Nakazawa and Ginza Onodera in NYC. Cannot recommend enough and make sure you follow their guidance on the sake/wine.

Came here tonight for a special dinner, having never tried an upscale omakase experience we were super excited. The service was top notch, very clean restaurant and modern decor. The appetizers and nigiri were very good but I feel like the value of the extra side dishes just wasn’t there. The cocktails were very good albeit also overpriced. Overall we enjoyed our dinner experience (minus the explicit rap music at times) and the head chef could have been a little more personable to make the experience feel more special.

I want to remain anonymous so I’m writing the review from a friends account. I had a great experience with the staff. I’ve experienced many omakase restaurants over the years, but I was highly disappointed with the quality of fish and interaction with the chefs. They came across snooty. In all other experiences not at mujo the sus and executive Chef have been informative, interactive and proud. These two just knew that their *** don’t stink and it was super unfortunate because I come to Atlanta a lot for business, and looked forward to being a regular.

We chose Mujo to celebrate a birthday, and the food and the ambiance were excellent for a high-end dining experience. What stood out for us, though, was how the chefs, servers, manager, etc. went above and beyond for us.
The food and drinks here are delightful and high caliber. I am pretty picky when it comes to seafood, but I loved every bite of food I had at Mujo. The highlight for me was the dessert - there’s nothing like it in Atlanta.
Our sushi chef, Gusan, was so kind, talented, and engaging. The sous chef, Marc, was quite charming, easy to talk to, and made us feel very relaxed and welcomed.
FWIW, I am honestly shocked at the two star review complaining about the chefs at Mujo (especially given all the other raving reviews), and after our own experience, I doubt the reliability of that review. Each person at Mujo was warm and professional, and the team there really is top notch. Hope that’s helpful when you’re considering whether to pay a visit here!
10/10 would recommend.

Absolutely stunning experience from the moment you walk in the door. The hospitality is next-level and the ambiance is so unique; it feels like you’re at an intimate, high-end sushi restaurant in NYC or Tokyo, but the music reminds you that you are still very much in ATL, which I LOVED! It’s fine dining with swag.
The omakase was the best I’ve had in the city yet; of course the fish was delicious and expertly prepared, but the rice took things to the next level. It was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and served at the right temperature. Each piece of nigiri was so well balanced because of this. And the dessert… I still dream of it every night!
Mujo is taking the Atlanta dining scene up a notch, and we are lucky to have them. If you’re looking for a place for a special occasion dinner, this is it!

Incredible experience unlike anything else in Atlanta. The service by both our sous chef and the service men and women was on par with what I had just experienced at a 2 star Michelin restaurant a few weeks prior. *wink wink Michelin people…come to Atlanta!!*
Each piece of nigiri was exquisite and the small plates served prior to the nigiri had very complex and well developed flavors.
We did the more expensive beverage pairing. I learned a lot and the pairings were great but I’ll probably will go with the cheaper pairing next time.
The music was a tad bit loud but you felt like you had escaped reality for a moment while dining.
Last but not least, the sesame ice cream paired with green tea was an excellent ending to our meal! Can’t wait to return some day in the future!

An unparalleled experience in the Atlanta dining scene. Everything was exquisitely prepared. Pairings we're excellent and the staff was personable and helpful. We went as a special occasion and wouldn't have changed a thing. Our pairings we're excellent but also the cocktails were just as tasty. Thank you to the chefs, the staff, and all the folks involved.

I had high expectations and they were exceeded. Even the cocktails - which are expensive at $20 -$24 - were exceptional. Prices make sense when you realize how many people are working to serve you and how small the experience is and how good the food and quality is. Wine suggestions were on point. As others have said, this would be Michelin starred if it were in Chicago or NYC. Next time we’re doing the beverage pairings!

This was truly a fantastic experience and dinner. I am honestly surprised there are any low reviews and I will address those further down if you care to read, but onto the Food!
The service here is absolutely over the top. They wipe your tray down after every serving, your glass is never empty, you never lack for anything. We ordered a bottle of Sake and our glasses were never empty until the bottle ran out, every single little detail is taken care of, the only thing they dont do is feed you.
For the food, it was incredible. Every bite I thought to myself this is the best bite of sushi I have ever had, and then it just kept on going. The whole course is wonderfully curated and everything is absolutely mind blowing. I have had very very few things like it.
Drinks were spectacular, cocktails were very sophisticated and had wonderful flavors while still being absolutely approachable. They also had a Sake Sommelier! We were able to talk to her about what we liked and she recommended an excellent bottle for the meal. Don't feel obligated to go for the drink pairing if you have a preference (for example the pairing only comes with 1 sake for the whole course).
Onto the complaints. One review said that a chef was unapproachable and didn't want to talk. While I cannot comment on that, I know our chef talked with a solo diner the. entire. service. Very friendly, always willing to share about what he was doing and just chit chat. Another complained about choking, which is very serious, but I'm not sure how that is a fault of the establishment unless they refused to help.
It is EXPENSIVE. But if you have the funds to make a trip here, I highly recommend it. It was me and my wife, we did 2 add ons each, and had a bottle of Sake and squeaked in just under $1k.

My husband and I love to eat at omakase style restaurants so this was not our first. We thought the food was delicious, albeit overpriced. (We don’t drink and spent over $400 a person.) Some of the dishes didn’t quite hit the spot for me but I would give the food 4/5 stars.
The servers outside of the sushi bar were amazing. They made us feel at home, educated us about what we were eating and were really engaged with our group. We never wanted for anything— they were on it if we need drinks or plates removed. 5/5 stars.
We ended up giving 2 stars overall because of the way the chef and sous chefs carried themselves. They were smug, not engaging and pretentious. When a member of our group asked a question to one sous chef, he told us he was “not in the mood” to answer. I have never, in all of my restaurant experiences, been so uncomfortable with how I was treated. It was difficult to enjoy my meal.
We will not return nor will we recommend this place to anyone.

A dining experience on par with the Michelin starred restaurants I've been to. A dining experience unlike anything in Atlanta.
Can't wait to go back.
The manager, Katy, will meet you outside the restaurant and know your name before you even have a chance to speak it. If you're arriving early or waiting for some of your party, you'll be seated at the cocktail bar to wait and drink. In our case, we were brought right to our seats.
We were offered a drink pairing and some additions to the tasting menu for the night. My partner and I both opted for cocktails and saké, but I hope to do the drink pairing next time. Their sommelier was able to answer any questions we had about drinks, and her recommendations were spot on. We also ordered their caviar dish, which was excellent and I'd recommend - although it did seem a little misplaced as a French-style dish on an otherwise Japanese-style menu.
The zensai (appetizers) offered before the nigiri tasting started were all excellent in their own ways. You're able to converse with the chefs as they work in front of you throughout the entire tasting. We were offered 10 courses of nigiri as part of the tasting, with some options for off-menu pieces that we opted for as well.
The dessert was excellent and paired with some green tea before the meal came to a close. We were given copies of our menu for the night, incense, and because we went to celebrate around my birthday, I was given a card signed by the staff.
Expect to pay between $300-$500 a person depending on pairings or extras. A price I was happy to pay given the level of service and food. I've paid more for meals I was less happy with. Can't wait to go back!

The service and experience are both out of this world. They know your name the moment you walk in, and your every need and desire is anticipated and proactively accommodated. I recommend for the experience alone. The food was very good, although I would not come back for the food absent the experience. Do not skip caviar service; it's phenomenal. Atlanta needs more places like this.
I recommend putting your name on the list for nights you want reservations. I did so and was able to get in much sooner this way.

An Atlanta restaurant and dining experience worthy of the hype. Which is rare. Fantastic service. Incredible and fresh sushi, also a rarity on Atlanta. Top notch service for a new opening. The entire omakase experience is on par with what you'd find in NYC or Tokyo. And the cocktails, especially the Negroni, are well worth it.

5* on quality, 3* on inventiveness, 2* on vaLue. Didn’t like the constant up selling. Should have given out the menus of what they served in the beginning. Nigiri sushi very small, fish sliced very very thin, but excellent quality. Expect to spend $400 pp. Really nothing special other than the quality of fish, service and venue. If you like rather loud explicit rap music the entire time you eat this is the place.
Good service/ A little pushy to buy supplement which is very small for 25$
Chef does not engage very much unless he knows you.
Other reviews seem to be written by the PR company?friends?

From the moment you walk in the door, it’s obvious that every detail has been carefully considered. We approached the front door and it was opened by the host who greeted us and showed us to the bar while we waited for the rest of our party. The cocktail menu was carefully placed in front of us as the bartender pointed out “must know” details. Once ordered, the bartender prepared a tray containing each ingredient and tool needed for the cocktail and prepared it in front of us while talking about each ingredient before finally presenting the drink with a mujo stamped ice cube. Phenomenal.
We we’re shown to our seat before the cocktail was finished, so staff brought them to our seat for us. Our waiter presented the menu and set expectations for the meal. After we ordered, the food started to appear and every single course (of which there was many) was incredible and perfectly timed - It never felt rushed or too slow. Their sommelier walked us through each wine pairing with expert knowledge that was as approachable as the wine itself.
Everything about this meal was thoughtful and well executed. More importantly, every dish was delicious, fresh, and impeccably prepared.

Food, drinks, decor, and service all truly top notch. Best edomae sushi within 500 miles, easily (maybe in the US? will reconfirm after revisiting NYC and west coast). You are welcomed into a garnet jewel-box that warps you into a land without time or an outside world (like a casino, but in the best possible way). Every dish is a piece of art. With that, they offer an excellent wine, sake and cocktail selection. Perfectly balanced Japanese-style whiskey highballs. Spot on choices for the wine+sake pairing - highly recommended. Cannot say enough about the quality of service. Wonderfully courteous, knowledgeable and professional, but with a human touch that elevates the experience even more. There is so much love put into every aspect - the dishes, the drinks, the handmade ceramic plates and sake cups. You show up for sushi, you leave surprised by this wonderful moment you got to share with the terrific people that you came with and met there. And yes, the sushi. That's Mujo.

Entered and ordered an amazing cocktail(silent bishop). Was sat before I could take a sip of it. Had the omakase like everyone + the drink pairing and the negitoro temaki add-on. Later ordered another cocktail, also excellent (tea House Negroni). Quality and presentation were spot on as was the service along the way.
Choked on a nigiri maybe 5 courses in, stumbled around the restaurant trying to find a restroom or exit, single restroom was full. Ended up vomiting in the alley trying to survive. Tried to close out and go home. Staff insisted I finish the food regardless of my general inability to appreciate it having recently thrown up 8 feet from my seat. Still paid $411.88 + tip.
To be clear, food and service were impeccable. My experience wasn’t great because I was choking and had to run to an alley outside, which ruined the second half of it.
