Had never been before but we had a great time. Always a good sign when locals walk in. We know why too. Great service by Henry who guided us to happy hour & starters. Oysters were top notch but the crown jewel were the Chilean muscles in white wine sauce!!! Omg!! So good we ordered a 2nd order & called it dinner. The chef Zach visited our table & we told him it was the best sauce we’d ever had - 💯 true.
Can’t give our experience enough stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nothing special here. The Caesar salad was average or below a bit, the Mahi flavorless and dry. Do I need to go on? Waiter was friendly enough although I never was offered a refill on my drink and had to ask the hostess to get the waiter to give us our check.

Excellent Happy Hour, we loved the salmon chips appetizer, except the chips could be much fresher and crisper. Love the truffle french fries, came out hot and crispy, could have used a bit more truffles. We got the raw oysters from Virginia, flavor good but you could tell they were several weeks old, a bit dry.
However, our server was great and kept checking on us. We would go back.

Absolutely the worse experience we’ve had
at a restaurant in Orlando. Blu on the Avenue needs to work on so many issues. The server took forever to get us our drinks. Then once we received our food, it was incorrect. When we asked for it to be fixed we finished our food before the side arrived. The manager then asked us to pay for the side before he would take it off. Your incompetence should not be a cost to me. KEEP WALKING.

Went there for the Magical Dinning experience and let me tell you it was far from magical at this place. Our waiter was Seth, beware if you get him. First my drink had no carbonation which is fine I get that happens. After that’s fixed we are told our dinner will be taking longer that expected. Once we finally got the steak after forever it was so unbelievable undercooked it was raw throughout. It was just barely seared on the outside. Then when I told the waiter he wanted to argue with me and say it was medium rare like no. You could easily see that. He quickly came back then to agree with me about it been under cooked, well duh. It finally came back and looked like nothing has changed after waiting forever again. The third time it finally came back it was burnt to a crisp but it was already so late I was ready to leave. And this is the most disgusting part off all. Shortly after the waiter said to the table right next to us in close proximity, “Thank you all for being so low maintenance, I really appreciate it. Some tables are being a pain.” Like what he clearly wanted us to hear that, so rude. It’s not my fault your kitchen has no quality control. He also would take forever to clear any plates and let them pile up, even the he was right there talking to us. And I know it wasn’t just me with the steak, because a lady in the table behind us order hers medium well and got a rare one too! She also sent hers back 3 times and it still couldn’t be made right. I’m not sure what’s going on but management needs to really look into this and hold people accountable.

Atmosphere is great. Food very good, nice selections and specials. Magical dining menu great. Shrimp tempura sushi was delicious..could have eaten it again! Sauce for salmon was excellent. Regular menu lobster Cobb salad was beautiful to look at and delicious. Hot brie dip was so good...but the "toasted " bread needs alot of improvement. Bad supermarket french?bread in uneven hunks dumped in dish and not toasted. Sliced TOASTED quality bread would have taken the dish to 5 stars. The lousy bread was eaten but just so the wonderful cheese could be consumed to the last drop. Kids meal came in a dish that was SO hot it melted the crayon the waiter put it down on..yet grilled cheese & fries were barely warm. But overall we enjoyed a quiet leisurely lunch that ran about $120 with tip..one kids meal, one Magical dining and the dip & Cobb salad. Hardest thing was finding a parking spot lol. Still worth it.

Enjoyed the meal here. Chose to sit inside at a high-top. The crowd was mixed and energized. We enjoyed the filet mignon & sword fish on the Magical Dinning Menu. The food was great and the Oreo desert was a unique treat (very rich). This was on a busy Saturday night, yet the venue was well balanced in terms of clientele, and energy. The service was okay. Waited a bit to long for entrées and deserts. Again it was Saturday night so not a worry. I'll be back. Give them a try!

To begin, when we arrived the line was out of the door because the hostess was not at her stand. Not because she is bad at her job but because she was literally playing the role of a bus boy as well and resetting every single table. We did not get seated till half an hour past our reservation time The ambience is not great. It felt very clinical. The lights were way too bright. Our server did a great job however everything ran slowly. It wasn’t his fault but everything from the drinks to the food came very slowly. Luckily, from the moment we sat down, we decided to order everything at once from drinks
to appetizers, entrées, and desserts.
We were not given silverware or napkins. It took a lot of convincing to get my friends to go to this place for magical dining, I went there simply based on the fact that I was craving that Oreo delight as my dessert. They ran out and gave me basically whip cream, covered in Oreos. I’ve never been more disappointed in my life. I’ve been on a very strict diet, and I wasted my cheat day for this Oreo delight. I honestly feel like I’m entitled to refund for at least the dessert portion. The filet was good and mashed potatoes were very good! However, the portion size is very small for the potatoes. Don’t come for ambience or service but if you have time to wait for your food and drinks, it’s not bad. In retrospect, next year they need to not sign up for a magical dining because they’re not prepared. Or better yet, get prepared and make sure that you have all of the items on the menu ready to be served.

I had a reservation for 11am. At 11:06am, they opened the door to say they didn’t open until 11:30am. I told them I had a reservation for 11am. The family next to me pointed next to the door that said they open at 11am for brunch. They came back a few minutes later and said come in and seat ourself. Someone was mopping the floors with what smelled like stagnant water. The strong bad odor never went away. Service was extremely slow. Even though there were only 2 other small parties the entire time I was there and I was alone, my meal took 40 minutes. My water was never refilled until I was done eating. It was empty when my food arrived. My steak was supposed to be medium well. It was burned and hard on one side and brown in the center. I got my dessert to go because it still hadn’t arrived after 20 minutes. The only positive was the potatoes and dessert were delicious. This was my first, and last time eating here. Such a huge disappointment for Park Ave.

Absolutely the worse experience we’ve had
at a restaurant! Blu on the Avenue needs to work on so many issues. We arrived for a 6:15pm dinner took 40 minutes for our salad and another 45 minutes for our entree. When we arrived it wasn’t very busy, multiple tables around us got served and even finished before we even started on our entree. The waiter was nowhere to be found basically ghosted us once we spoke to the manager. The steaks came all under cooked. Manager sent over drinks, food came never checked on us, and food came undercooked. Waited to get it redone, waited and waited so we ate what we could. Asked for deserts to go but had to eat it in a box since it had ice cream. Manager then said “if it will make you happy we will cover the bill” actually what would’ve made us happy would have been a great meal. I do know that sometimes restaurants have a bad day but this was the worst experience from server, manager and food.

Took my husband for Father’s Day as a surprise since we’ve both been wanting to try it out. I loved the aesthetic of the place and in a very nice area. The service started good and then ended terribly; EVERYTHING took the waiter over 10mins to do, he kept talking to the bartender who too was taking forever to make our drinks. The best thing we ate were the starters. My oysters that I requested baked were completely raw. The swordfish & seabass we ordered for dinner was not cooked completely & you can taste and smell that it may not have been cleaned. Super pricey for very little food. 2 of us were $230. My friend ordered sushi and they have a lot of sushi options, but I didn’t taste it. She said it was good and it was priced reasonably. I had the lobster seafood salad with prosciutto and the presentation was absolutely beautiful… however the taste was actually not that great. It was OK. The parking can be a hassle because its winter park. I had to park around the corner and down the street. Service was good. I also had a glass of wine that was on happy hour. Only six dollars. I was astonished by the taste of the food after reviewing the menu. I was so excited to go eat here after looking at the menu online. Them we got served the edamome and it looked like someone just got a bag of edamome out of the freezer at Publix, put it on a plate and served it to us. The shells were very dehydrated and dry to the taste. Then we received our main course. My daughter got what I felt was a wonderful salad and she told me that (even if it looked great) it tasted like a basic salad and definitely needed the dressing as it seemed like the lettuce was also very dehydrated. I got the famed lobster grilled cheese and it was incredibly dry. After about 3 or 4 bites I had to ask for some cheese sauce or something like it to dip it in. The taste of the lobster was good but the sandwich it was in was very dry. As always, I will attempt to try this restaurant again and order something else before I make my final opinion on taste so please check back in a little while to see my update.

NOTE: If this review has helped you in any way, PLEASE like this review so it can be elevated faster for the restaurant to be informed of how well that they are doing! Great food! Great servers. However today we arrived requested to sit outside, there were 3 empty tables 2 in the sun and 1 in the shade. Mind you it was 82 outside. We requested the table in the shade and were told by hostess because it seats 6 we could not have it because we were a party of 4. Wow, talk about horrible customer service. The table for 6 was actually 2 tables a table for 4 and a table for 2, which the table of 2 could have been easily moved to the sun table. For years this has been a fav place to eat. Blu on the Avenue is always a great restaurant option on Park Avenue in Winter Park. If you’re looking for a place that specializes in seafood, including sushi, with some other land dishes, this might be for you! There’s always usually good service here - though sometimes food does take a while. It’s okay to wait in my opinion, as long as the waiter/waitress is good. I’ve been going for years and some of my favorite dishes are the conch fritters, salmon chips, roasted half duck, Florida shrimp and grits, lobster roll, fish tacos, and pork belly tacos! If you’re wanting sushi, the Avenue roll, Angry Dragon roll, and Ceviche roll are my three favorites. I also haven’t tried the “Ocean” category yet, though I would imagine these would be some of the best options from the whole menu. Some dishes aren’t as good as others, like the lobster mac and cheese for instance, but a majority are great and you have a pretty safe chance of having a really nice meal here. I will continue to return and I definitely would recommend it one time!

I’ve tried so many times to get a seat here after midnight and it’s always closed. Like at least 4 times. Always on a weekend. For example tonight. Went here for dinner yesterday for our first time ever. Just walking by looking to have dinner somewhere. Im a pretty big food critic. Our server was ok, eventhough he seemed very unpleased. The Calamari was very greasy and tasted like the over used oil. The risotto wasnt very hot, personally just like my food hot temperature. Scallops had alot of unnecessary pepper, so was all you tasted, eventhough cooked very well. The lobster mac and cheese was pretty tasty and had alot of lobster. But my major disappointment was our creme brulee for dessert. The sugar was black and clearly over cooked to burnt, even looking at it. Very inedible. Scooped top sugar off but unfortunately the burnt flavor got into the creme part. Was just disappointed the kitchen staff would serve a clearly over burnt dessert.

We visited here right after the best of winter park awards ceremony, of which this venue won for best happy hour. Ironically, it was still happy hour, and I was surprised at how reasonably the drinks were. They made my old fashioned just how I like, except they use small ice cubes instead of one large cube. My wife loved her pumpkin expresso martini. We got the fondue plate, and conch fritters, and the fondue was amazing for sure. Next time we come we’re going to get the lobster Mac and cheese. Where to start... Our server was AWESOME, so gracious & so refreshingly pleasant! SHAME on me for not remembering his name🫣, but what great service!! 👍 Then the food...Bon Appétit! And my margarita was perfectly done! Love that their menu was on the healthier side. Kudos! Definitely recommending this restaurant!

I went during Orlando’s Bite 30 so I did eat off of a fixed menu! The food and drinks were
very good and the espresso martini is a must! However, the service was a lacking. You often had to ask for things a few times and there was very long wait times between service. I went around 6 on a Thursday so it wasn’t as busy as it could have been. The food is good so I’ll go back but hope the service can improve.

Attended an event in their event room in the back of the restaurant. We received excellent service. The drinks and
hors d'oeuvres were excellent and the bartender and wait staff were top notch. I highly recommend this place for special events or a quiet romantic dinner because they have a divided restaurant and can accommodate both. The atmosphere was grand!

Took my family for dinner at Blue and I will say the food overall was very good. We had the seafood tower and conch fritters both were very very good! I had the black grouper ruben which was also very good and their skinny fries are amazing! The service was slow and the waiter was at attentive but we kept having to reorder our same drinks over and over till they came out. The atmosphere is so so. Probably a better lunch spot than dinner spot.

I think this place is the perfect example of a solid choice for a restaurant. Nothing particularly bad, everything I ate ranged from okay to great (the duck was fantastic!) However, I can't say that the food overall was too memorable. Would I visit again? Maybe. But I can say that the service was spot on.

I'm so mad I am just now discovering this place. Hands down the best seafood I've had in Orlando. So fresh! We had sushi, salmon chips (will be a must every visit), and lobster grilled cheese. We had a wonderful experience for lunch on our 32nd anniversary. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The lobster Cobb salad was fantastic with the bacon blue cheese dressing being one of the top 5 dressings I’ve ever had. The only thing I would not order again is the conch fritters. The taste was good but the insides were not done. This is a common issue at any restaurant that serves conch fritters. The outside is done before the inside. I would definitely eat here again.

I have been to this restaurant multiple times, I have always liked the food but the service/cleanliness has always been lacking.

My most recent trip was a late Saturday afternoon. My wife and I stood at the hostess station for about 5 minutes. Not one employee acknowledged our existence. Several servers and the bartender definitely noticed us standing there patiently and didn’t say anything.

I don’t know who is running the front of the house at this restaurant but they are failing miserably. Your employees should at least acknowledge new customers not ignore them. Needless to say we walked out and spent our money at a different restaurant.

Six of us went for lunch only three other tables had customers as we arrive just after they opened. Service was standard nothing special but she was nice. The food: We waited over an hour for two orders of scallops with rizzuto, three orders of ccblt with fries and one order of side salad, fries with lobster grilled cheese......terrible across the board. Those with sandwiches ended up picking pieces and parts out of them while scraping off the sauce on the ccblt. The lobster sandwich was more then lacking cheese. Rizzuto ah NO! We asked for bread, well it came at the end of our meal. Blu is not worth the wait, price or food. Two stars = one for they are open, second staff showed up to work. We have family in winter park and we visit often, but not visiting here. Go anywhere but here.

I would like to give it 5 stars but my waiter was very inattentive. The lobster Mac & cheese: 10/10 delicious!
My waiter offered to box my plate (which I now regret not doing so myself) and never came back. I called back and spoke to Lindsey regarding my experience and not receiving my to-go bag and was not followed up the next day as she had promised.

Drinks: Ordered a Prosecco which was really dry, like a Pinot but felt more like I was drying André (a dry, cheap, champagne).

Suggestion for outdoor seating- fan. Many restaurants nearby has a fan placed under the awning pointed towards the tables.

I hosted my 30th birthday brunch at blu on the avenue on October 9th and had a wonderful experience! Hillary, the Catering Sales Director, was extremely helpful from start to finish. We were initially looking at another restaurant in their portfolio but Hillary heard my vision and wish list for this event and recommended blu on the avenue instead.

The staff at blu on the avenue were so patient and kind. Unfortunately my mom was running an hour late due to a parking issue with an art festival that day, and I didn't want to start without her. Coming from a catering background myself, I know how frustrating it is for a timeline to get pushed back, but the team at blu acted like it was no big deal and even saved a few hors d'oeuvres for when my mom got there.

Thank you again, Hillary and the staff at blu on the avenue! I highly recommend hosting your event here!

My expectations might have been too high before arriving… however, the sushi menu was very limited. I ended up with the BluBowl which I was pleased with. The pork belly tacos were not as good. The food wasn’t very filling. Prices are well priced so we could have ordered something else if we wanted to eat more. It took quite a while to receive our food after ordering. Our server was good and delivered good service. I’m not local, so this probably wouldn’t be somewhere I will make a point to go again.

Sushi Experience №189

Mediocre, overpriced, disappointed. Would not recommend, except for a cocktail at the bar.
The ambience at Blu on avenue is on par for what you would expect in Winterpark. Very posh and modern, mirror waterfall at the bar, and all around good vibe.
As with most restaurants, I suspect that Blu has been impacted by their ability to keep staff following the pandemic. Server was responsive but was oblivious to the menu and the guests. (Perhaps just aloof or busy, but can't definitively say) For example, the menu offers a daily special and they didn't know what it was. It was also after 15 minutes or so of looking at the menu that he never shared this with us, until asked.
Cocktails, while nice and snappy, were heavy handed with ice, watering down our drinks. (Which in Florida is fine, but this leads into why I feel things are overpriced.)
Food came out at a decent time, but was brought out a separate intervals. (Lobster Mac was first, ~5 minutes later the scallop risotto, then a ~4 minutes later steak filets.) This caused the table to wait for each other's food to be brought out but oddly, the steaks weren't hot when they were delivered.
Food was either smothered in cheese (which I heard was tasty) or the steaks were bland (had a Gorgonzola gravy on them, but had no flavor. Salt would have gone a long way). Honestly, you can make anything taste good drowning it in cheeses, but I wouldn't consider that fine dining.

And perhaps that isn't what Blu is trying to do. However, for my tastes and the amount we spent on the meal, I expected some culinary expertise/professionalism. Where was the seasoning, butter, salt, garlic? Same goes for the cocktails, an old fashioned isn't meant to be iced like a whiskey otherwise you end up drinking a cup of water with a splash of whiskey and simple syrup. Blu on the avenue has all the right pieces and ingredients to be a stellar restaurant, but falls very short on the execution.
TL;DR
Visit only if you have no where else to go, or you like overpriced frilly grilled cheese.

Arrived at location for magical dining experience (which means a modified cost and menu to experience the restaurant in hopes you will return). Our server was polite and super sweet. Food was good. However, I would definitely NOT pay regular full prices for the meal.
We ordered the Caesar salad and sushi. Sushi was dry and Caeser was basic. For the main dish we ordered swordfish with baby potatoes and asparagus. This dish was very tasty. Had two different deserts the Oreo and Key Lime Trifle. These were both average.

Sushi Experience №193

Went for magical dining and I would go back no matter the time of year.
The food was delicious, it's to hard to pick from their menu because it was all so tasty. My mother ordered sushi and when it says spicy tuna believe them. It had a great kick and the fish was fresh. I ordered the curried class and that curry sauce was full of flavor and brought out the brine in the clams.
I highly recommend the duck main course, especially if you enjoy kimchi. The kimchi barbq was the perfect blend of spicy sweet, and I'm not a big fan of duck. My mother got the shrimp and grits and the grits were so creamy. I did want a bit more jalapeño flavor to it but it was the right heat level for her and the shrip were a good portion.
The desserts was simple but tasty. I took the dessert to go since the portions are decent enough to fill you to bursting. My boyfriend said it was one of the best things I have brought home.
The wait staff was polite and friendly. I have a tendency to chat people up while I'm at their restaurant but the hostess and the waitress were the sweetest. It's a small place so we sat right in front of the hostess stand and had a nice little conversation on a slow labor day lunch.
The place is in Winter Park and there's a certain quality to be expected. This place is a demure minimalist style but meets the quality you expect at the hot spot of winter park.
I highly recommend this restaurant whether it's magical dining or not. The food is great, the waitstaff is kind, and the resturant has a great upper class but still cozy feel.

Was excited to try this restaurant with the magical dinning menu however two out of the three options were not available so I ordered the scallop risotto instead; the flavor was great but the plate was at room temp. Was not told about staffing problems until almost an hour and a half into the experience and received my plate thirty minutes after that. At no point did a manager come out to explain the situation but instead left the waiter to explain. This was not a good first experience and unfortunately, due to the events of tonight, I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Sushi Experience №197

Let me preface this by saying the waiter was doing his best and was genuinely sweet, and the cook - who was the only cook for the night - was working super hard keeping up with the orders of the whole restaurant by themself. I wish them both the best, as this review is not about them: this is about the management

As just mentioned, there was only one cook working tonight, and my party was only made aware of that after already waiting an hour into it. This was not acceptable - period. Management never should have allowed this to happen; either they should have closed the restaurant for the day or they should have given guests the warning that there would be a wait prior to seating, so we could have made the choice to be waiting. Furthermore, managers never once came over to check up on the tables despite the situation and left the servers to handle everything. This was cowardly behavior on their part.

My party had a reservation made days in advance for 7:30, so there was ample time during the day to let us know about the staffing situation ahead of time. We arrived on time, placed orders in at 7:50 and waited over an hour to get the update about the staffing situation. We then had to wait until 9:30 for our food, did not receive our checks until 10:10, nearly thirty minutes after we finished eating. This was a two and half hour experience of mostly waiting with little communication from the staff and ZERO communication from the management.

Having only one cook meant that the cook's attention was going to be spread, having to cook everything all by themself. As a result, the Lobster Mac and Cheese I ordered was cold, the fish tacos another person at my table ordered were soggy, and another person's salmon was undercooked. Again, this was not the cook's fault - this is entirely management's fault for keeping the restaurant open despite staffing and for rushing the cook.

One person at our table has been to this restaurant before and has said the food was good, which is how I know this is not the norm for the restaurant. However, this was my only experience, and it will be my last experience. I hope the servers and the sole cook tonight are being taken care of and paid appropriately, because that's the bare minimum this management team owes them for putting them through a shift like tonight.

We went during Magical Dining, and thank God, because it was not good! Food was very subpar...Ceasar salad tasted like water and was wilted, the roasted duck was ok but sauce was very salty, and the key lime trifle was only cream. Additionally, we waited a very long time (over an hour) despite the Restaurant not being busy...we went on a Monday night. Our waiter was doing his best, but it seemed like he just couldn't catch a break. I know Magical Dining allows customers to try out new restaurants, but unfortunately, we will not be back.

Enjoyable food, friendly staff, not good service.

Okay this was my second visit.
Both visits service was struggling, we had new servers both times and they were not knowledgeable about the menu. The first visit the restaurant was out of a lot of things, the second visit we really didn't get too many recommendations. Both times weren't super busy but service was slow.

We ordered oysters, they were okay. We also had the conch fritters, pork belly tacos, curried clams, Cobb salad with lobster, salmon chips and baked fontina - all pretty tasty.

Overall there's better options, it's not too bad if you're okay with inconsistent service - our server was friendly just her first day and no one really helping her, no manager stopped by.

As a hospitality professional many steps were missed. I hope they get better.
