Japanese Restaurant
I took the team there after work. We had a great experience. The sushi and the drink were on point and our server David did a great job. He was very knowledgeable about all the types is sushi. I told him to give me his favorite and he was able to pick the crunchy crunch roll. That’s my new favorite .

We had a fantastic experience at Gochi Japanese The appetizers we sampled during their happy hour were incredibly delicious. The service was top-notch, we had a male waiter ( forgot his name sorry) We'll definitely return and highly recommend this place

Continuing my search for the best Japanese Bento Box lunch in the Horizon West area, and discovered Gochi Japanese Kitchen via Google, and so glad I did! It's one of those places you might never know is there, in a small strip mall off of Hwy 50 (W. Colonial), with almost nothing to tell you it's there driving by, as it doesn't face the main street. It's much larger inside than it looks from outside, as others have said, and it's clean and inviting... a legit restaurant vs so many storefront places intended more for to go orders.
Upon being seated, I noticed there was a central hibachi grill in the middle of the booth table. Apparently, this place offers DIY hibachi grilling, but I did note the menu stated that if the table did not order at least 4 proteins (they looked to be about $15 each), there would be an additional $15 charcoal (fuel) charge. A bit steep, in my opinion, especially if I would be expected to cook my own food, but I wasn't having hibachi at the time. Just thought I'd mention it, because it seems like a novel idea, and not too many places offer this feature.
Gochi has a nice menu, and reasonably priced bento boxes. I found it a bit odd that, when deciding on the traditional teriyaki chicken box, I had to choose between 4 small pieces of California roll OR steamed white rice (I've never been anywhere that didn't include both). The box also included 1 piece of gyoza, 1 very small veggie spring roll; I chose the CA roll, and it also included the standard ginger salad. I went ahead and ordered a side of steamed white rice (who doesn't want rice, without having to miss out on the CA roll?). The other thing that struck me as a bit odd - no miso soup with a bento box?
OK, all that being said... the food. Despite being a bit surprised at no rice and CA roll together, and no miso soup, the quality of the food... for the most part, amazing! Most bento box chicken is plain grilled or sautéed chicken with teriyaki sauce. Gochi's stands out because it's sautéed, fresh, well-prepared chicken, mixed with sautéed veggies. VERY flavorful, VERY fresh, and not at all oily. So many places have bland offerings, but Gochi's flavors are incredible, and despite any of the minor, aforementioned misgivings about the bento box offerings, it's the quality and taste of the food that will keep me coming back for more!
One more thing... the server. David was covering the entire restaurant (it wasn't too busy just after lunch hour, but still maybe 25-30 people at multiple tables). David HUSTLES!! He's so fast, watching him, he was literally everywhere at once, and still took the time to talk with each table, checking in, answering questions about the menu, describing the details and flavors of each dish people asked about... really impressive!
I asked David if he was the owner - because it takes a special kind of person to take such good care of customers, with a well-defined knowledge of the menu, preparations, etc., to help people decide what they might like. David said he wasn't the owner, but had been in the industry for over 30 years! Honestly, he made the experience even better, which was much appreciated.
One serious critique, Gochi... ditch the tap water! Disgusting, even after adding lemon, and I order water with lemon everywhere I eat. PLEASE source your water from your filtered soda machine, or invest in a purification system. Honestly, the horrible tap water flavor could've ruined an otherwise excellent meal.
So glad I tried Gochi (I just won't order water again... seriously, it was that bad)... but I will be back for the food (and hopefully David's excellent service), and I'd even like to try the DIY hibachi sometime... maybe with more people so we'd cover the 4 meat minimum.
PS: Sorry, but I was so hungry, and it smelled so good, that I started eating before I took the pictures. There were actually 4 small CA roll pieces, and the gyoza and small eggroll. By the time I took this picture, I'd poured my side of rice into the bento box.

The rolls were really tasty, I'd even say delightfully delicious. My wife and I often enjoy sushi and rolls. I would definitely come back to this place. However, we live in Miami and just stopped by for lunch on the way. There's a huge parking lot. The dining area is clean, with plenty of space. The service is friendly and fast. We really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend it.

The place looks clean. First time trying. I did take out. No paper menu. Scan QR code to get menu online. The food came in Styrofoam containers, which I'm not a fan of. I ordered Chicken Katsu and Chicken Teriyaki bento boxes, that came with some sides. Overall, the food is more on the bland side. The portions are very small. I wouldn't go back.

Not happy with any of the food except the ramen. The sushi would have been great if not completly covered with the yellow sauce. Aliitle goes along way.. sevice was great but the sushi was sub par at best. The yakisoba noodles were way so chewy my kids would not even eat them. For 5 people at $200 i wish we could have enjoyed the food at that price.

We're locals to Winter Garden and this is always our favorite sushi and Japanese restaurant in town! In addition to the food being excellent, the service and attention to customer service is exceptional too. On our last visit, my wife had a portion of her meal that wasn't acceptable. Not only was the server very attentive, but the owner even came and checked on us, then they started over with a fresh update of the dish and it was all perfect! Can't say enough about a place with great food AND emphasis on complete customer care/satisfaction. Highly recommend!

The staff are incredible and very kind! They are understaffed and you can see them working very hard to make it feel like they aren’t understaffed.
I’d say this a fairly average sushi place, definitely the best this side of colonial has to offer.
I would have loved if they had physical menus. Their online one is hardly user friendly and it would have been nice to actually be able to see everything they had to offer.
Overall it’s a much needed addition to Winter Garden!

Gochi is the best Asian restaurant around. Especially sushi 🍣 the best I’ve had. AJI comes in 2nd. And Gochi has the best Poke’ around. Their location in the same spot that they originally had their old restaurant. Now it is only Poke’ and everything else is at the location next to state farm and Mosaic church.

I'm writing this review somewhat heavy-hearted, as I recount my recent dining experience at Gochi Japanese Restaurant in Winter Garden. A place that had previously wowed me with its food and service fell quite short this time around.
My 10-year-old daughter and I decided to revisit Gochi after a memorable dinner experience we had 3 years ago. We were seated promptly upon arrival, which was a positive start. The restaurant has transitioned to a digital menu, which was accessible by scanning a QR code on the table - a change that we were comfortable with.
Our waitress, Nayeli, was amiable and took our orders without any issues. However, I was quite disappointed when my food arrived before my daughter's. As a parent, I would have preferred if my daughter's meal was served first, or at least if they had brought her miso soup ahead of my meal.
My selection for the night included Dynamite Sushi, Spicy Salmon Seaweed Salad, and Takoyaki. The Dynamite Sushi was amazing. But my experience with the Spicy Salmon Seaweed Salad was far from pleasant. I discovered a fish bone in my salad not once, but twice, which ruined the dish for me.
My Takoyaki, on the other hand, was deep-fried - a preparation method that I was unaccustomed to and found unsatisfactory.
Furthermore, our waitress was noticeably absent throughout our meal and didn't check on us until we were nearly finished. To add to our frustration, our water glasses were empty for a good portion of our meal and were not refilled.
In light of these experiences, I find it hard to recommend Gochi Japanese Restaurant. Our dinner was a letdown, and it's disheartening to see such a dip in the quality of experience compared to our previous visit. I truly hope they can regain their charm and attention to detail that they once had.

If you are looking for a place to get noodles, fried rice, sushi rolls, teriyaki beef, or amazing alcoholic drinks, this is the place. Check out their menu and come visit. You won't be disappointed! Oh and while everyone was helpful, Summer handled out group of picky eaters with grace and Kyoko was there anticipating our next needs.

I was excited to try a new Japanese restaurant that I've never been to. I got a bento box and my husband got ramen. The slower service was not anyone's fault other than the fact that there was only one guy working. The food was ok, I'd like to try the table bbq if I ever come back.

I can’t remember what left a worse taste in my mouth the food or the attitude it was served with. Sushi chefs have a horrible attitude and were constantly arguing the entire time my family were trying to enjoy their meal. Overall an unwelcoming experience with food that was at best on par with other similar restaurants in the area. And last but not least I did not get his name but one of Gochi’s wonderful, award winning sushi Chiefs was incredibly rude to my wife when she asked him basic questions that any competent busboy should know, let alone a geriatric linecook.

Gochi is great! I've only had the sushi/appetizers, but they are so good. We ordered 6 rolls, with our favorites being the Jaken (recommended by our server - she was right, we liked it so much we ordered a second one) and the Katsu. Their cocktails are awesome too. Really high end and perfectly made. The staff was all amazing, really knowledgeable and attentive, with great recommendations. I know Gochi is in a strip mall, but don't let that worry you, it's really great and would be awesome for special occasions or any day.

One of the worst places I’ve been to for sushi and kbbq. There were 4 of us. Portions and cuts of meat are a joke for $100 (super cheap cuts of meats and bland). Egg roll are premade from the grocery store. Sushi was warm when it got to us and we all had a stomachache afterwards. My water had cleaning solution in it. Restaurant wasn’t busy (3 other tables there) and over staffed. We waited 30-40 minutes to receive our food. The dipping sauces were all diluted with water.

Food was good as always but wow the service was not great. We sat at a booth and the bartender was our server. He forgot to bring my husbands drink until my husband asked again. Then he never brought him his miso soup and brought an extra salad. When we got our sushi it took 20 minutes later to get my sons Ramen. I understand the kitchen was busy but communication about this would have been helpful when they brought out the sushi.

5 star ratings are based on my experience going into the restaurant to pick up a To-Go order.
-1 point loss for Food due to the fact that I ordered a side of fries for $4.25 that came in a small container with a side of ketchup. For that cost I was hoping that I would have gotten a bit more than what I paid for. Honestly, the portion I got was maybe worth $2.
The sushi we ordered was FANTASTIC. I ordered the Salmon Skin, Godzilla, Cucumber, Crunch, and New York rolls. They were all delicious and we got plenty of wasabi and ginger.
Hosts greeted me at the door and had food ready to go at the time I was quoted online.

Big and nice cozy restaurant.
Family-friendly.
We ordered Gyoza, shitake meatball, tonkotsu ramen, chirashi, and chicken teriyaki.
Gyoza 4 stars - good.
Shitake meatball-1 stars, way too salty for us. The dipping sauce for this dish was also very salty.
Tonkotsu ramen-2 stars for me, the marinated egg tasted strange, it could have been their recipe or spoiled 🙃the broth was too salty, the pork in tonkotsu tasted good, and the noodles cooked nicely.
Chirashi-4 stars, pretty good. Thick pieces of fish. This is the best dish we ordered today, but it took a while.
Chicken teriyaki-3 stars - taste okay.
Will we be back? 🤔 unsure.

The chicken appetizer was so bland and the chicken was dark, pretty gross. The ramen was not that good either, noodles were average and the corn on the ramen looked and tasted like it was taken from a can. I’m not sure how the reviews are so good on here. Just go to DOMU, it’s worth the wait and drive.

Exceeded expectations! We went to this restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner choice and was not sure what to expect being that it's in a strip mall. But this place exceeded expectations. We ordered some standard rolls such as the California and Philly Roll and a roll I've never seen named the Florida roll (amazing)! In addition to the sushi roll appetizers we had gyoza. For our main meals we selected the beef rice bowl and the shrimp teriyaki rice bowl. I finished it all even after being full from the appetizers! I'll definitely return to this unexpected restaurant that exceeded expectations.

First visit I was SO excited to find decent sushi without having to go into Orlando and ordered edamame with it. This time, I ordered three different sushi rolls with edamame. The edamame was so old it was grey green, with some brown rotten spots, and, even after picking those out of the very meager serving size, they fell apart in your mouth leaving shards of the pods everywhere! It didn't have the lemon or anything else I ordered with it. All three rolls were crammed against each other into one styrofoam container leaving us to pull each piece apart from the others with some pieces falling apart because of it. Sigh... I guess we keep looking.

This is my second bad experience with this company. I ordered Korean beef and my wife ordered sushi. They did not come together. It was more than 10 minutes before the other meal arrived. By then it was cold and it was not good. Tempura was okay but a little greasy. Sushi was good. We were not the only table that did not get to eat together. The waitress said that hot food and sushi come from two separate kitchens so they do not serve them together. I'm at a restaurant for Valentines Day I want to eat with the person I brought with me. I also don't want to eat cold food when the other meal arrives. The waitress was nice and kind but there was nothing she could do to fix it. You need to hire an expeditor. Someone that can coordinate both of your kitchens to get food out to diners so they can eat together and food is hot. Besides the chef that is the most important position in a restaurant. And if you're not cooking at the table sit at a table without a vent because if not you will be listening to high-pitched whistling the entire night.

I ordered ramen to go with gyoza and a side of poke. The food is fine. The tonkotsu broth is more like a Shoyu broth instead. And oddly they served the soup in an extremely shallow dish like a plate with a lid which kept it from being soup. The cha-syu was quite good actually. And the pork gyoza wasn’t bad. I’m from Hawaii though and their idea of poke is almost insulting. It had no true poke flavor and it was mashed up and put onto two separate tortilla chips for some reason. I know the chip thing is like a weird mainlander adaptation and I understand you have to adapt flavors to certain demographics to survive but this is NOT poke. Not worth the $7.50. Otherwise the service, the restaurant itself and the food were all good! I will try eating in next time.

We waited over 30 minutes and never had a server come to our table even after we said something to the hostess and bartender. The place looks good but no service.

It's a nice looking place. The sushi was decent but was wrapped okay. Some of it was falling apart. The staff were friendly. Venturing off to other sushi places in the area.

Not good wrapped sushi, small portions, had 5 rolls and only 1 was flavorfull
Okay taste, but service and atmosphere is great.

By far, some of the best sushi I've had anywhere near Winter Garden or Clermont in a long time. We got a Big Kahuna and Wonton Roll, both cooked, and the flavors were fantastic. The Pacific roll is large and slippery, but so refreshing. We also got actual Crab Rangoons and the Tuna Poke on happy hour. The poke was a tad spicy, but not surprising, and the rangoon was fresh, didn't taste like fake crab, even if it was.
The interior is modern and clean, almost a "nice" restaurant, besides being in a strip mall. Like Servando's next door (Mexican), it exceeds expectations for its surroundings. Gochi has some impressive copper exhaust vents for cooking at the tables, should you choose.
Only complaint is if you go for happy hour and wait fifteen minutes before it ends for your waitress to come back to the table, the button apparently disappears from the computer and you're paying full price for a beverage through no fault of your own. I guess you have to get up and find your server to let them know before 6pm. Insignificant compared to the food experience, but annoying enough to alter the "happy" experience.
Other than that, I highly recommend. The interior deserves more visitors.

My experience at this restaurant was remarkable from the moment I walked in the door. I was welcome with love and the server was attentive and she knew what she was talking about in regards of the menu. This family owned restaurant is great for big groups or even a date night with your husband. We love coming here!!

We used to go here all the time but not anymore after our last experience. Servers need to be more familiarized with the menu and the customer service needs some work. My husband and I ordered $130 worth of food, everything was fine except for a sushi roll that I specifically asked the server if it was spicy prior confirming it was not at all. It was extremely spicy (I’m not trying to be a Karen or sound crazy I promise it was so spicy) I think the sauce had a Sriracha base which the menu does not state. After only taking one bite, I asked if I could possibly change my roll out to a basic California roll (we would pay the difference) , our server came back and told us not the manager, but the head sushi chef said we would still have to pay for the roll they’ve taken away as well as whatever new roll I wanted. Keep in mind they were not busy at all or I would not have even bothered to ask for a new role I would’ve just thrown it out. Unfortunately we will be going elsewhere for now on. The server let us know she took half of the roll off our bill herself which was very sweet (this incident did not affect her tip) but at that point it wasn’t about the money for us. It was the lack of basic knowledge their servers have on what they are serving as well as the lack of customer service. Time to find a new Korean bbq and sushi spot !

I asked him to lightly fry and not cook the fish then when I got it the fish was well done it was fried too much. And it took a long time to get your food.

Very good japanese food (very good chirashi bowl and hamachi kama. Shrimp tempura was ok), and excellent service. Thank you Dina. Surprisingly moderate prices as well, especially for the higher quality of food that you get. They also have above average range of choices in their menu.

We've been here several times now and it's been delicious every time. Rolls and nigiri were fresh and delicious. Curry was a great addition, my daughter loved it! Tonkotsu ramen was rich and flavorful. Gyoza was a great start to the meal.

We have been back three times. Our food never disappoints and we always leave full and happy! We love the family atmosphere since we have a young daughter.
When we left tonight, it was raining. We were walked out by one of the guys with an umbrella! Thank you!

Overpriced for what you get / small portions. Food was generally tasty but not notably so. Asked for shrimp sauce and was given a small bit only to find out later on they charged us $.75 for it. Apparently making a change in a dish asking for all carrots is another dollar. A lot of nickel and dime treatment. Save yourself the money and the disappointment and go to Pei Wei or somewhere else where they know customer service and don’t up charge you for everything.

Outstanding. Very fresh, and the textures were awesome.
I had a spicy yellow tail roll, my son had spicy tuna roll, both great.
The shrimp fried rice was probably the best I have ever had.
It's in a strip mall but do not let that turn you off. Inside was clean, and the decor was all new.
I believe David was our server, he was outstanding.

I predict great things for this restaurant. Very clean, open, state of the art establishment nestled into what looks like a brand new plaza in Winter Garden. Sushi boat was huge and very fresh, delish! If Nigori Saki is on the menu, I get it. This time it was so good, I got two. There's some Korean choices on the menu as well and some of the tables allow you to cook right at the table with Copper Air vents over head which was very cool. If you've got Korean BBQ on the brain, come here. Friendly open atmosphere. Was a great meal that we all enjoyed.

I tried the grilling side and it was delicious. We go for sushi here a lot and always wanted to try the fire grill meal. It was fun with a great selection of meat. Fun time with the family.

I tried the new location twice in hopes that I would have a better expierence a second time. But sadly I was wrong. Food is below average with high prices for the quality of food. Even the quality of sushi has gone down from their old location. The amount of food you get at the grill is slithers of meat and veggies for a high price. Regular menu items were served cold. If your looking for good Japanese food, this place ain't it.

If I could I would give no stars. The first time we went there, it was ok, so I decided to give it a second chance. And that was a disaster! The yakisoba was inedible, it seemed reheated, with a strange flavor, I took a bite and put the plate away. We ordered plain noodle, without sauce, so there's no mistake but... it came sprinkled with pepper! We returned it. A type of sushi with only rice, no seaweed, came almost empty, had a tiny piece of fish and a lot of rice. And to complete the meal, the little glass of orange juice was fill half with ice. The manager came to the table and said if I wanted a full glass of juice I would be charged double. I will never go back to this horrible place.

Awesome, restraunt cook food yourself. And has a great atmosphere. Very well laid out. To give everyone there space. With special Copper exhaust fans, that come down and hover above Your table.

Indulged my father on his desire to get at-table bbq with charcoal grill (not electric or gas) and found Gochi Japan Kitchen out in Winter Garden. The space is clean and bright and well designed with wide grill tables to accommodate both the grill and all the plates.
They have pre set combos but we picked our own selection of Berkshire pork sausage, shiso pesto chicken and Korean marinated beef (bulgolgi, just say it!) along with a pick 3 veggie combo of onion, shishito peppers and king oyster mushrooms. They bring out a sweet and a spicy dipping sauce and salt if you get a ribeye or NY strip.
We also got an eel roll and an order of yakisoba and I’m glad we did because while I acknowledged the menu said meats are 3-5oz portions I didn’t realize how small that is. But the overhead must be significant considering the cost for the ventilation not to mention liability of placing a bucket of hot coals in a table, so it’s fair priced at $8+ per meat when you consider all that.
It was a wonderful experience and everything was fresh, the charcoal really does add an extra layer of flavor. Surprisingly the shiso pesto chicken was my favorite, with a unique herbal bite to it.
Service was friendly and attentive. I’m not in WG often but it’s well worth the drive when you want REAL grill flavor! — at Gochi Sushi.

Went on a Saturday evening to find some good sushi. I didn't have a reservation, but didn't need one as it was not crowded at all. I was invited to sit in the sushi bar. I scanned the qr code to get the menu, and decided with the chirashi bowl. It came in a pretty quick time, and had an ample amount of various pieces of fish as well as cucumber. However, I noticed that it was missing some fish eggs and salad that I thought would come before my meal. When mentioned, I was immediately given my salad and provided a very nice amount of fish eggs for my chirashi. I did enjoy my chirashi with the fish being fresh and plentiful. The rice was warm and the cucumbers added a nice crunch. I also wished the wasabi and ginger came on the side instead of directly on the bowl. But the presentation of the chirashi was very nice. For 24 dollars, it was a good value.
The service from my server was prompt and friendly. Other than the minor mishaps that were previously mentioned, they were quick and helpful in responding. The atmosphere is pretty casual and quiet, with soft rock music in the background. I did recall seeing tables for hot pot as well as a bar for drinks.
Gochi is located in a strip mall in Winter Garden not too far from the downtown area. There is an Aldi and a church in that plaza as well. Overall, it was worth the drive for a good chirashi.

We did the grilling experience where you have your own grill at the table. It was fun doing it with friends but I feel like it needed a little bit more. We had to add on a couple more things to actually make us full.
