This place should have a five star rating! This place even beat our favorite sushi spot. Top quality sushi and big portions. We are sushi snobs and we were amazed at how good it was! Also they made some of my rolls without rice for those who are doing keto or low carb. We had the yellowtail firecracker, rainbow roll, valentine roll and the sushi deluxe. Was phenomenal!

the restaurant service was good. There were only a few ppl there. The windows are black so the place. Looked closed. The food was over priced. It was mediocre the eel was cut so thick my husband almost choked on a bone. The bathroom was horrendous and the floors were so sticky I sprayed my feet with lysol before I got on my car. Gnarly bathroom

I will never eat here again.!! We ate at a hibachi table, and I ordered the steak & chicken combo. The 1st sign of knowing I was the food. The steak had absolutely no flavor at all, I think the teriyaki chicken was cooked with soy sauce instead because it was so salty it couldn't be eaten, the veggies were over cooked because they became mushy, and when I asked for more yum yum (white) sauce just to give my rice some flavor, the cook took the bottle of yum yum sauce, and squirted it on top of my entire plate of food with an attitude. But the main thing that took the cake was the cockroaches that crawled across the table as we started eating. When I brought it to the cooks attention all he did was not get off with his hand onto the floor and went back to what he was doing, as if this was a common thing there and not a big deal. As I was getting up to go see a manager, the family sitting across from us yelled oh my God there is a cockroach on our table, just as the little girl said look there are more. When I went to the manager the only thing they did was say I am sorry and offered me a piece of free cake. I said no thank you to the cake, I do not want my dinner, I had only taken maybe 4 bites of my food. They agreed, but after what I had gone through in the restaurant they had the balls to still charge me for the soup and salad that came with my combo meal. I should have just walked out but I think Monday morning I will be making a phone call to the health department

The food here is delicious! I've been here several times and love coming here. Never had a bad experience other than maybe a slowish waitress but it wasn't terrible.
Presentation is beautiful, the sushi rolls are big, and the sashimi fish slices are generous.
They have a great menu of elevated dishes from just your run-of-the-mill hibachi place down the road. Also have a lot of seating in the dining room as well as the hibachi table.
Prices are a bit higher but the quality is worth it.
I posted a photo of their spicy tuna crispy rice.

Great experience start to finish! We came in and started at the bar with a mule and a blue margarita... excellent drinks! Our server was Linda. The sushi and calamari was great. She was so nice and attentive. The chef did a good job and the filet was amazing. Really love the atmosphere and service here.

I’ve got to Aji at least a dozen times, and 85% of the time the rolls come with things that are not listed on the menu. I cannot handle spice well and I’ve gotten rolls doused in spicy mayo or the fish itself is spicy when not listed that way. It’s frustrating to order food or go out to eat, thinking you’re getting one thing and then and you can’t eat it. Maybe update your menus or just make the food as listed so people know what they’re getting! The only reason I’m not giving less stars is because when it’s right it actually is good sushi, and the staff is super great. But unfortunately will not be going back.

We ordered their combination meal for $23.99 each. The combination included a a small portion of an entree, rice, soup, salad and small portion of sushi. The soup was very salty, lukewarm, and not edible. The salad was average with some lettuce and ginger dressing. The chicken teriyaki entree was horrific. It was cold, no flavor, it just sat in the corner of the plate with some sauce on it. The white sticky rice was perfectly positioned in a corner and it did not move. The sushi roll was tough but I did like that they had differ t vegetables to what I’m used to. The beef dish was tough but flavorful and like warm. Our server was very nice. The best part of the meal was the tempura vegetables!

I had a great dining experience at this restaurant, thanks in large part to my attentive server, Zoey, who made sure everything was just right. The tuna kobachi was fresh and flavorful, while the harumaki had the perfect crunch and savory filling. The chicken fried rice was a satisfying, comforting dish, with tender chicken and just the right balance of seasoning.

I visited Aji Sushi and Teppan and had a wonderful dining experience. Our server, Zoey, was friendly, providing great recommendations throughout the meal. I tried the tuna kobachi, which was fresh and flavorful, this went perfectly along side the savory chicken fried rice and crispy gyoza. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the food exceeded expectations—definitely a place I’d return to for its delicious offerings and excellent service.

This is the 2nd time I've been to Aji (first time was years ago, at ate the teppan hibachi table that time, did not review, but it was pretty good, as I recall). This time, stopped in on my own, on a whim, while out Christmas shopping, for an early-ish Sat. night dinner (was about 5pm).
Decided to try the "bento box" (not really a bento box here, but similar offerings) with miso soup, teriyaki chicken, tempura veggies, white rice and the optional California roll (many choices to choose from for the 2nd main item to go with the chicken).
Miso soup - pretty good, basic.
Chicken teriyaki - Boring, bland but peppery, doused in teriyaki. Definitely not grilled as advertised, more like steamed and flavorless (again, except for the ridiculous amount of pepper sprinkled on top). Not like any chicken teriyaki (let alone bento box style) I've ever had.
Tempura Veggies - 3 pieces (1 slice onion, 1 slice sweet potato, 1 chunk - and it was an end piece chunk of basic potato). Now I realize potatoes technically are veggies, but come on... who serves tempura potatoes?!? The sweet potato was tasty. I actually don't prefer tempura (unless shrimp), but every single protein offering on the dinner "bento box special" (4-6pm only Sats.) included tempura veggies - no other options for sautéed, and no substitutions.
CA Roll (they did provide it rolled in roe, instead of sesame seeds)... 2 huge problems. First, it was served on the same very hot dinner plate with the rest of the food (I love hot food hot, but cold - or at least freshly prepared room temp sushi - should NOT ever be served on a a super hot plate!). Completely changed the flavor and ruined the CA roll. I mentioned to a server but was told "that's just how they do it for the dinner combo." I thought she would offer to replace it, but when she said, "Let me bring me you..." she was only offering to bring another plate to put it on, but it was too late, it was heated now. She didn't offer to bring a replacement, and quite honestly, I was so put off by the offering thus far, I just ate it and figured I won't be back.
This meal was a loss. The ginger salad lettuce was quite fresh - and cold, served in a separate dish - duh), but whomever prepared it poured a gallon of ginger dressing on it. Overall, the food was edible, but bland, and definitely not something I'd return again for.

Normally enjoy this restaurant altho it seems to be going downhill. Tonight's visit included extra visitors at our table. Quite a few small flies. Tables around us all had the same visitors. We were joking about trying to out do Mr Miagi.
Food was very bland and our appetizer was cold. It will be a long time before we try them again. Giving the food 3 stars is being generous

We have come here several times throughout the years. The first time was about 4 years ago and we sat at a regular table and it was not good at all. I said I would never go back, but our friends wanted some hibachi so we went and sat at the teppenyaki tables. It was so good and has been good every time we go and do the teppenyaki. We were craving some hibachi and just went and it was honestly the best I’ve ever had! Yum!

The chef was super good and was very interactive with our table, my filet that I ordered was perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic. Food is always yummy, but a bit on the pricier side. Waitstaff is typically very nice, but I had one waitress named Dream who just walked away every time she brought food and never asked how we were doing or if we needed anything.

TERRIBLE!! I would NEVER EVER eat here again. The food was terrible, the service was awful. We had the gyoza and the ago tuna bomb for apps. The gyoza had no flavor and the avo tuna bomb was fried and was so greasy it was barely edible. I had a Fuji roll and a California roll with real crab. The Fuji roll was fried and so greasy it wasn’t even edible. The California roll was bland with no floor. My husband had the chicken teriyaki dinner. The rice was rock hard, undercooked and cold. The chicken was rubbery. The veggies they give with it are fried and of course greasy. We had water with our dinner which is our preference and the waitress never came back to refill them.
Very disappointed especially because this is in such a nice area. Will not be going back and I don’t recommend anyone else goes there either.

I went to Aji for the very first time I must say the food was amazing but the service not so much my waiter had taken my family’s orders and had completely ignored me when she came back with the drinks she had finally noticed I didn’t order anything then the waiter brought everyone’s food my father has a gluten allergy so we were completely shocked when the waiter brought onion rings that have been deep fried even after we told her about my father’s allergies my father had to wait even more for the food to be prepared . The food took a while to make but it was worth it

We were a group of 6. We brought our family that was visiting from Colombia but since we sat down in the teppanyaki it was just a bad experience overall. Our server did not even present herself and immediately demanded we order at least 6 combo meals. I told her I had been there before and we always use to share meals and they added the $11 charge per each shared combo. She immediately said oh yes yes sure. Then went to the host stand and send the hostess to tell me specifically that we either had to order 6 meals or more sushi. My family from Colombia left with a really bad taste in their mouth from the whole “experience”
I also had a bad experience when paying since my card was charged (the money was taken out) and then the server goes to the table and infront of my whole family said the card was declined. I showed her the charged has been made and she said oh that usually happens here. Excuse me?
0/10 I would never come back here again. When we left I went to the host stand and asked the hostess what the name of our server was she said dream or casey? Also didn’t even know…
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! the sushi was not good at all. The only time we had fun was when they were cooking teppanyaki (which I tipped the guy $20) the best part was him. The rest sucked!

So many things wrong here. Most importantly whole family got sick. Service was awful. Just an awful place. It’s trying to be upscale and it doesn’t measure up. It was very warm in the restaurant which was off putting. And to top it all off, THE WATER had an awful taste. Please. Go out of business. You obviously couldn’t care less.

I went to Aji Sushi & Teppan with my daughter to celebrate and have some good sushi, but it turned into a nightmare. I saw our waiter only twice, and I had to flag down other waiters just to get her attention. It was infuriating. The sashimi was cut absurdly thick, about 1/2 inch, and had a slimy texture that was downright disgusting. I complained to our waiter, who took the dish to her manager. When she returned, she said the manager wouldn't do anything. I demanded to speak to the manager, who came over and had the audacity to accuse me of eating half the dish. When she brought the dish back, pieces were missing! How greedy do you have to be to tamper with a customer's sashimi platter and lose customers? We stormed out without leaving a tip. This place is clearly preying on tourists and first-time visitors. Despite its potential, the poor food quality and management are abysmal. Every time we visit, it's nearly empty. Aji Sushi & Teppan, get your act together!

Ordered from the “Choose from 2 items” menu and it was delicious! My husband had the Beef Teriyaki and Spicy Tuna Roll and I ordered the Kalbee Beef which is like Korean BBQ and the Aloha Roll. I ended up switching Sushi because my Aloha Roll had way too much cheese and mayo which was tasty but I’m lactose intolerant so probably shouldn’t have ordered in the first place. Anyway, it was all delicious and we can’t wait to come back and check out their Teppenyaki. Our server Bella was the best & so sweet and I hope we get her again.

Over the past 15 years, I've eaten here three times. I'm done. Never again. The first time/experience, they were newly opened. I figured they just had to get the bugs worked out, and it would get better. It wasn't terrible and it wasn't great. The second time/experience, the chef was hating his job and made sure everyone knew it. Food sucked, experience sucked, and the manager did not care. They had been open about a year. I stayed away from the place for many years since, until this last time/experience. I had hoped things had changed in the last decade or so. No dice. Watch out for the "service" charge. Twenty percent added to the bill, party of five. I will never be back. And I will tell everyone.

Aji is the most fantastic sushi resturant in Winter Garden. Their whole team is so sweet. They make the dining experience truly enjoyable. Wasabi was brown on the surface. Indicating too long shelf life and poor training of staff. My tempura came.i had to wave the waitress down several times to remind me that my dish came with tempura sauce. She apologized and finally got me some. My other guest had finished eating before I could eat. Soy sauce I could tell was bulk kickoman from 5 gallon. Not the higher grades sold in smaller bulk sizes. I had to ask and wait for a drink refill. Overall, this, of course, isn't Japanese. It's low service Americanized. I wouldn't bother coming back. Not worth cost, too many problems going on here with poorly trained staff,or staff doing too many duties at once.
The other guest had stake that was over salted.
We eat these food items typically several times a week at various locations
I would add,the location is clean, staff is friendly. The food was otherwise fresh.

I just moved to Orlando and heard good things about this place, I decided to treat myself to sushi one night , I got take out and the sushi did take an hour to be ready, the miso soup was delicious and so was the salad! However I felt letdown with the sushi, a bit expensive for the quality I was given, was publix- grade sushi and low quality, the fish was warm and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. I’ve had sushi at lots of places and by far I feel like this place isn’t the best, maybe I’ll try the hibachi next time.

Went to AST for the 1st time for hibachi dinner with the family on 09Mar2024. I found it to be overpriced for the overall experience. After we were served and the grill was cleaned, my kid asked for more steak so I called for an additional portion, and I was told that the grill had closed - I then asked if my request could be fulfilled by the back kitchen that was open and serving other dine-in tables. Long story short, this place could not accomodate a side portion of steak for a child, i.e., not from the hibachi grill NOR their reg. kitchen. I was not asking for a freebie, but simply for enough meat to satisfy my kid. This was not an extraordinary request, but a huge disappointment, indeed 👎🏻 This was our first and last visit.

Aji Sushi is a hidden gem with a cozy atmosphere that invites you to unwind. The sushi rolls are fresh and made beautifully. The service is attentive and friendly, adding a personal touch to the dining experience. Definitely a must-visit for sushi lovers in Winter Garden! 🍣

I've eaten here half a dozen times, at least. The atmosphere is always great. The food is quite good. And the service is usually decent.
The teppan experience is similar to other restaurants of this type. Nothing special to write home about, but consistently good food and respectable showmanship.
They have a broad selection of standard rolls and more creative sushi flare, as well as a good selection from the regular kitchen menu. They also have several unique drinks with an Asian vibe - the lychee martini is my personal favorite.
My only minor complaint is that the kitchen is not terribly consistent with their plate timing. For sushi, I can understand, as it comes from a different set of chefs. But the last couple times we've eaten here, we've received main courses before appetizers and salads. And the bar often gets backed up, as well, resulting in significant wait times for alcoholic drinks.
But all in all, I'd still say it's well worth the experience and the price.

I just had take out from here. The portions looked big and the food looked promising. I got the sushi/sashimi deluxe and went straight for the salmon. Usually even at subpar sushi restaurants the salmon has always been the best tasting (in my opinion). It was probably one of the worst tasting pieces of salmon I’ve ever had. I tried the tuna and it was definitely not fresh. None of the fish was. I immediately took the food away from my daughter while I read reviews about this place since someone said they had seen a roach in this restaurant. Threw the rest of the food away. Will never come back. $70 down the drain.

While I enjoyed the company of friends, I must share that the service left much to be desired. No refills were offered, and the water tasted unpleasant. The food, unfortunately, did not meet expectations either. The taste was below average, and the quality was quite disappointing. The prices, especially at $20.95 for a chicken teriyaki plate, felt steep for the small portions—minimal chicken, teriyaki sauce served on the side, terribly cooked vegetables and a very small amounts as well, soggy white rice, and only one piece of lettuce. Despite the potential from a great location and setting, my overall experience fell short, and I'm hesitant to return.

Aji is a fantastic sushi spot I just now got to experience, Selena, the manager, is incredibly nice. The whole team is friendly and makes the dining experience truly enjoyable. The food is top-notch, fresh, and ultimately delicious. The atmosphere is very welcoming and clean. Definitely a go-to place if you love sushi and great service! 🍣✨

I genuinely don’t understand how this place is rated so well. Perhaps I dinned on the wrong day, but I did not have a pleasant experience. The food was lukewarm and overpriced. I appreciate the location of the establishment

I think will not return , sushi was not perfect but not bad taste , prices a bit high

Yesterday we were celebrating my friends birthday with Hibachi, halfway through dinner a roach crawled up one of the soy sauce bottles. I am a licensed pest specialist and I identified it as a German roach, the most infestive species there is. Do not eat here you’ll end up taking home more than just the leftovers.

The food is just ok. And the prices are very, very high. The food quality doesn't equal the price.
Unfortunately there are not too many japanese restaurants to choose from in this area.
They Jack up the price by not letting you make alterations to any of the menu items. For example, if you don't want to white rice, they will charge you for a side order of fried rice. And have you throw out the white rice rather than not serve at all.

The front desk was very helpful by giving me plenty of updates for the table and the wait time. Spicy Edamame was very good as well as the shrimp tempura. Great recommendation and good service from my waitress Delaila.

Oh my goodness, let me tell you about this incredible restaurant! From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with the warmest smiles and the coziest atmosphere. The menu is a culinary delight, offering a wide variety of mouthwatering dishes that are bursting with flavor. The attentive and friendly staff made my dining experience even more enjoyable. I can't recommend this place enough, it's a definite must-visit!

I’ve been coming here for 13 years and the portion size has gotten smaller. I love this place but should include meat portions on menu for regular dining

Overall Aji is such a great place! Great service, food, and atmosphere! Especially when you go to Hibachi, the cool tricks and fire really set a mood of adventure when wanting to have good food with a little bit of fun!

This restaurant has been amazing for years, whenever it’s my birthday this is the first place I think of to get dinner. It’s very clean and the food is incredible. Also the service has always been great every time I come.

Our favorite sushi restaurant in Orange County. Plenty of sushi roll options. Sashimi and Sushi combo serves generous slices of sashimi which is always fresh, high grade. Wasabi is made fresh every day in-house. We go several times a month.

It has been 4 years since we last ate here when a roach fell on our table. This weekend was our first time back for a friend's birthday and it was every bit as disappointing. The rice was one big sticky ball, the crispy chicken was soggy and the service was fair.

This has always been my favorite place to go when shopping around Winter Garden Village. I have been here countless times, taken my out of town family, etc. I went last night to take my family out for some sushi for my daughters birthday. It was 7:30 on a Sunday when we got there, so it wasn’t busy, but they asked us to wait 5 minutes for a table - then sat us at one of the 10 empty tables. We sat there until around 8:10, when we finally decided to flag someone down to get something to drink and food ordered. There were 6 of us (one of which was a sleeping 4 year old, another was a sleeping 1 month old) they added an 18% service fee, I’m guessing since there was “6” of us. We had no refills the entire time, ordered 5 basic rolls of sushi and edamame and paid a total of $93. I can safely say I won’t be returning, and will now be looking for a new go-to place.

Took my son and family here for hibachi to celebrate his birthday, to my surprise+embarrassment (because I had brought my whole family here for the first time but I had been a couple times before) my son found a ROACH crawling around his dinner plates while we were waiting to be served. It totally tarnished the mood and the reaction we received from the staff was very nonchalant and whipping 10% off… Never patronizing this place again.

Ashley the bartender was very friendly. Our server Mook was very attentive and the Gentlemen who did the Hitachi grill was funny and amazing. Great experience. The only down side was there were very young children who continously yelled and screamed during the grilling experience. Very distracting as we were there to have our own adult experience and celebrate my Nephew's birthday. Other than that... it was a fantastic experience.

Came in and asked for tap water for my toddler. She(the manager, I believe) said no. Apparently it’s complimentary only for paying guests. My son was literally crying as we left. We have been there many time including Mother’s Day since it’s only 1 minute away from our house. Last time we will be there. Hope it was worth saying no to a very simple request. Bonefish, the neighboring restaurant, had no problem giving my little guy some water.

Not impressed. Ordered delivery and the food is mediocre. I ordered seafood udon and it's lacking flavor and seafood. For the price I would expect entire pieces of shrimp not cut in half. Whole scallops, again not cut in half and better flavor. I ordered a tempura roll that was very breaded...overall not impressed with the quality vs price

I was here last week for dinner with my family and my sister's family. In total there was 9 of us. The service was beyond terrible. I had to request things over and over again, many items just did not come even after being requested. At one point the waitress brought 4 out of the 5 children drinks we ordered, when we highlighted this to her, it took her 25 minutes for her to bring my son's drink. He finished his meal without the Shirley Temple. I myself ordered a martini initially and when that was finished asked for a glass of wine. The waitress did not come back. The buser came to the table to pick up dishes and I asked him to tell my waitress I am still waiting on a spoon and a glass of wine. He came back with the spoon himself and I asked him if he told the waitress about the glass of wine, and he said yes. She did not come back. I saw another waitress, and asked her if she could get my waitress. The waitress never came. It's finally bill time and she came with my bill and my sister's bill, shamelessly adding gratuity to each check. I put my card in the credit card folder and waited another 15 minutes, and she did not return to pick the card up. At this point my kids are outside, as it's been an endless wait game during the most uncomfortable dinner ever. I get up and go to the front and ask to speak to the manger. The manager (likely owner) comes out, and I explain all of the aforementioned. Her response? "So you're upset because she wasn't fast enough?" At this point I realized, that I was wasting my breath, told the manager to remove the gratuity because I did not receive any "service" and left the establishment. I will not go back, which is disappointing because it is close to where I live and it actually used to be good.

HORRIBLE!It was 2;30 pm Sunday Mothers Day. I was alone and told it would be 15 minutes to wait to be seated at the Sushi Bar. I walked over to see how crowded it was and it was totally empty.I asked the two hostesses to call teh Manager who said I need to give you great service so you will give me a great review. I said how can you gaslight means dismiss me and treat me so rudely when you could put a check mark next to the california roll. Geez how rude especially that I was alone on Mothers Day.I am never going to this rude place again no more AJi Winter Garden. I can spend my money elsewhere. Unheard of. Just be considerate of your customers and they won't open an account to slam you for your poor behavior. Shameful

I came into Aji with my friends after walking around the grove. We sat on the patio and had a couple of drinks, the Lychee martini was so good! Our server was so nice and patient while we ordered and gave us recommendations such as the tuna kobachi which is now a favorite of mine. Definitely reccomend and will be coming back to try hibachi!!

I like to give places the benefit of doubt, but there is no doubt in my mind that Publix sushi is infinitely better than this place.
I am literally sitting here right now, watching SIX sushi “chefs” pound out sushi only marginally better than the garbage sushi one would get at some all you can eat buffet joint. It’s… humblingly sad. Yes, that’s a new word.
Our opener was spicy garlic edamame, which was a spectacularly odd failure, because it was over cooked mush AND cold… All while masked with an over powering melange of garlic powder and spicy seasoning.
The hot sake was tepid at best, and room temperature by the time I finished my 8oz carafe. However, as a positive, my wife’s Kirin Light WAS cold, and her glass was clean - plus one for that, I guess?
The rice in all of our nigiri/sushi was dry - like desiccated. The fish was bland to the point of nonexistent flavor or texture. The mayo sauce, far from being used as an accoutrement, was slathered on anything that it came with - imagine tuna salad, except on NyQuil and acid, with a better fish after taste.
Also, I never was offered (nor received) the miso soup and salad that came with my “Sashimi & Sushi Deluxe”. This was probably to my benefit, because my disappointment meter was already pegged at “Kim Kardashian is an accepted influencer of todays modern western society”, and could not possibly accept more disappointing inputs.
I guess, in the world of Winter Garden haute cuisine, this place is socially acceptable. But in the real world, this restaurant is a utter and complete bomb.
If you are looking for good - or even marginal - sushi, then anywhere else but here would be a winner… I guess $100.00 worth of sushi just doesn’t get one very far anymore.
At least my dogs will have something to snack on tonight. Even though they lick their own heinies, I’m sure they’ll be disappointed too.

A fantastic upper scale sushi restaurant in the Winter Garden villages. Their rolls are fairly large and some even come as 10 pieces. Very tasty, and good quality. Chef Leo does a great job and is an asset to the establishment. The ambiance is hip, cozy, and very inviting. Time well spent.
