Fun and unique experience with a revolving sushi conveyor belt.
The variety is decent, and everything is fresh, though quality can vary between dishes.
Service is fair, and the self-serve system adds a modern touch. Great for a casual meal, but expect more convenience than gourmet.

wish i could say i love this place as much as the opening. Unfortunately for $4 a plate you are paying to spend 20+ minutes for any sushi to hit the conveyor whatsoever. It did take 3 visits for me to leave this review and each time with hope I am let down again. While the entire aspect of the restaurant is the entertainment of pulling plates off the conveyor, you are let down with the extremely limited selection and forced to order on the above head menu in which will take an additional 15-20 minutes to arrive as well. Love the concept however execution could be exceptionally improved, disappointed to say the least but hopeful improvements will be implemented to support the amazing concept. Also find it INCREDIBLY unprofessional that we were forced to wait 45 mins to be sat yet a group of 4 is able to avoid any wait time AT ALL because they are in relation to an employee on floor. Extremely unsatisfactory, i would suggest to only come in this restaurant on very very slow days. This business is absolutely not well equipped enough to upkeep its demand. What a find! My cousin lives in Tampa and was super excited to finally not have to wait to eat here! We enjoyed the experience and the food! A definite must try! You can talk from the revolving bar or order on the electronic pad at your booth. The food was fresh on both the revolving bar and the menu. The service was very good and the food was good. I enjoyed all the rolls and the Taiyaki was excellent! So good, my cousin and I ordered our own each.

This place was everything I expected! The food is good, and there’s even a robot waiter. Cartoons play when you drop plates into the slot, and you win prizes. Definitely a special place to take family and friends. There’s a large selection of sushi and hot food. I will definitely be coming back soon!

First time doing a sushi go round. It is an awesome experience that anybody who loves asian food should try. Most of the food is pretty good. If you want something quick and easy and are just looking for getting something small, it can be cheap. But if you're trying to do a full dinner, getting all the individual dishes adds up very quickly.

Quality went downhill here fast. Went when it first opened and liked it. Just went again and everything feels dirty. The plates, the conveyer belt, even the serving robot needed to be cleaned. On top of it the whole place had a bleachy fishy stench. There’s better sushi for less in Tampa.

In the realm of "good food," "good service," and "good prices," you're not going to find better than Kura! We come at least once a week. We always enjoy our food and more importantly, we always, ALWAYS, feel welcomed (we have two toddlers)! I can't overstate how hard it can be to find somewhere that feels welcoming to babies/children but this place somehow manages to balance everything just perfectly! Kudos!

Located in city walk of USJ. A well known franchise around Japan. What i most appreciated about this location is the convenient of having fresh sushi after a long day at the theme park. The sushi and other food like ramen and the meats were fantastic. It’s not all you can eat sushi. It’s per plate item that comes thru a conveyor belt when you order from an iPad like device. Very easy and convenient to order from the menu. All the sashimi & sushi were super fresh and very tasty. I would def go back again & again. Only negative if there is one, is that when you make a reservation from their ticket machine.. unless you understand Japanese, it may be alittle hectic or difficult when you try to figure out if your number is called. Bc it can get very busy and the system they use is a little confusing. For locals, its not a problem.

I used to love coming here all the time. I haven’t been here in a month and wow something happened in a month to make this place really go down hill!
First, you have to ask for wasabi and it’s not longer on the table. The server said, “yeah they’re making us give individual portions now”.
The fish quality was not on tonight. The skipjack tuna and salmon toro tasted old and off. Considering these are my favorites, that was a huge disappointment. I tried to order a amaebi sushi but after waiting 25 minutes for it show up, I decided to give up and checkout.
The wait staff is great and I have nothing but great things to say about them. They seem to know it’s absurd to take the wasabi off the table.
This place used to be my favorite and I would eat here at least once a week. I hope the owner makes some changes and enforces quality on fish. If the fish is past prime for sushi, remove that roll until you get fresh fish. Don’t serve past prime fish as you can taste it easily.
Visited 8 months ago
I was really disappointed with my visit. The sushi wasn’t fresh, and I had to wait a long time for it to arrive on the sushi train, which was mostly empty. It seems like they don’t have many customers, but as a customer, I’m there to enjoy good sushi! Unfortunately, the quality was so poor that I’d prefer Publix sushi any day. Also, be mindful of what you get because the cost adds up quickly!

Went here on a lunch date Sunday. You sign in at a kiosk and then wait outside of the building to be seated. The wait staff were very friendly and explained to us how everything works. A lot of the plates on the conveyor belt were empty. So I felt like I was paying more attention to trying to find what I wanted to eat. You can order from the touch screen though and the plates you want are delivered straight to your table. My biggest issue is the portion sizes are TINY. You might think $3.70 per plate is a good deal but the bites of sushi are half the size of a regular sushi roll. Was fun once but we left hungry $45 later 🤷♀️

Great experience. Being seated closer to the kitchen will improve the selection choices, but we ordered off the tablet whenever we found there were too many empty shells going by. Vegetarian options on the main belt are limited so order off the tablet for a better selection.

A bit expensive for a kaiten sushi, but worth the price. They are not very common in the US, specially in FL. This is an actual Japanese chain and knows how to do sushi. Also fun to have kaiten sushi in Tampa. The Taiyaki dough is closer to churro than actual Taiyaki, but it tastes very good.

First time at a conveyor belt sushi bar. So fun! They have some nice offerings, such as Hokkaido scallops and uni (sea urchin) sushi. They also have real wasabi.
Prices are decent and service is good. I like that there is a terminal at each table where you can order drinks and deserts and they just bring it to you. No need to get the attention of a server.
We enjoyed the experience, and even got anime buttons to take home! Would go again!

First time at a conveyer belt sushi place, and Kura did not disappoint for me! Will definitely be coming again. Great food, kind staff, and a fantastic set-up. Can't ask for much more than that. Only thing I can critique was that a friend who is vegetarian didn't really have any options, which is surprising for Asian food. I figured that a tofu-based ramen bowl that they had would have vegetarian broth.
Visited 9 months ago
The service and atmosphere was honestly pretty good. The food however, at best it was palatable but the majority of things I tried was disapponting from the ramen to the salmon. Even if you find yourself liking the food the serving sizes are fairly small. However the piece of Tuna sushi I had had me gagging as it tasted like blood and with that alone i cant recommend this place.

A great resemblance of a futuristic sushi experience in Tokyo. It was very close to one I went to while in Japan, and the place was busy while holding quick service and quality food. For 4 of us it was reasonably priced at $200 with beer, Sake and gorged on goodness.
My only critiques were that the promotional items that were advertised were unavailable and they could use at least one more attendant when they have full tables.
Thanks for the great experience, I will be back.

This is a chain that's blowing up around the US with revolving sushi. The service is always good. Be careful going at peak time-frames as it can be busy. However, my wait time said 80-120min on Friday at 815pm, but it was only really about 35-40min wait. The good thing is it's by the mall so you can pop in for some boba or do some shopping prior.
I really enjoy coming here because you can get access to a lot of unique cuts of fish/shellfish that you can get at other sushi restaurants... And at a very affordable price. Botan Ebi aka sweet shrimp for instance is normally $5-8/pc whereas they sell it here for $3.70 for two! Scallop, sea bream, and conch are a few others.
You also earn some $5 discounts from time to time. So that helps out even more.

This restaurant left a lot to be desired. Really, we came as they were advertising a One Piece collab, and my partner wanted to try the gumgum fruit treat they had. Unfortunately, they had run out! It's not their fault, but they should've taken the gumgum fruit placeholder off the revolving tray lol. Other than that, the rest of the sushi/sashimi wasn't that good. If we were to go again, we would take a group of people with us to make it worthwhile. We've had better elsewhere for a cheaper price. Not to say that this was bad, but just that it wasn't up to our expectations. It would also benefit if the tables were clean & the robot that brings out the drink was wiped down, as everything was a bit dirty (and a little sticky...) I will say the revolving sushi is cool, but it's definitely just a gimmick as we had to order from the screen the entire time. Being placed at the end of the conveyor meant that there was literally no sushi by the time it came to us. Which was also ridiculous, considering that there were not that many people there 🥲

Sold out of everything, good luck finding a plate on belt with food on it. Every plate coming around was empty. The one in Orlando is great this one is just awful.

I have eaten at a Kura twice now. Once in Orlando and now here. Honestly this is the worst place you can get sushi in Tampa. The food here always tastes off and it's just not a good value. The ikura was a bit funky. I love uni but this place tastes like it was about to go bad. The cuts of fish are super small. You can go to Samurai Blue, Tori Bar, Izakaha Tori, or anywhere else around here and you would get just as much food that taste so much better for less money. I would say that their food is equivalent to an all you can eat buffet sushi.
The service has always been great there. Servers do a good job there.

My partner and I were so excited to try out Kura Sushi and it was the BIGGEST let down. The biggest draw is that you get to choose your selections off the revolving tray, but there were barely any selections to choose from! You do have the option of ordering directly off the menu and the food supposedly comes to you. We did this with the spicy popcorn shrimp and after waiting 20 mins and seeing no shrimp, decided it was time to leave. We would've had a better experience had we just gone to our favorite sushi spot without all the bells and whistles. Lesson learned.

This place is great, definitely a unique experience, I’ve been multiple times and will be back. The only issues I have with the restaurant is how small it is and being so great there is typically a long wait time to get a table. But if that’s the biggest issue, first world problems. The food is great, you have the option is pulling premade plates the roll around the bar next to your table, or ordering your own items off of a screen next to your table that will then slide down then bar straight to your table when ready. One strange thing is that the servers essentially do nothing at all here other than get you beverages and seat you, yet there still seems to be an implication of standard tipping, which in my opinion shouldn’t be the case but not a big deal at all I’m happy to give 25%, well worth it for the experience. The average price per plate is about 3.50 which I’ll say is fair for the portion per plate, and if I recall correctly I don’t believe they were charging for beverage refills but don’t hold me to that. Try it for yourself!

UPDATE: I've been like six more times. This place fell off. Bathrooms always dirty, belts always low on sushi, sometimes you'll see the same thing passing by from the time you sit down until you leave. The drink serving robot is busted and sitting in a corner. Expect the soy sauce and wasabi at your table to be empty when you get there, expect to have to ask for things like soy sauce dishes, etc. It's gone downhill bigtime. Maybe it's because we come in too late, idk.

The best thing was the novelty of the conveyor belt. The fish often fell off the rice. I think we needed a larger plate to have our Wasabi and ginger on, but that was inconsequential. Great place for kids to enjoy grabbing the food from the belt!

Came in 1.5 hours before closing (8pm) on a Monday. There was nothing on the conveyor belt at all except some old watermelon. Our screens were under repair or something so we couldn't see any pictures, just order thru the names of the items. We could also only order two things at a time, and everything took so long to come out on the belt. Service was virtually non-existent. Every time we pressed the button for help (to refill soy sauce, etc.) no one even came.
Quality of sushi is so trash too, it's such a waste of money coming here. We spent $108 for mediocre sushi and service when we could have gone to a nice place and gotten a much nicer dinner for that price.
Skip this place like it's the plague!!

This place is abysmal compared to the Orlando location. Not only do they not explain how to do anything, they are understaffed and take forever to simply bring refills. The waitstaff is super friendly and effective, and they were so helpful with finding a space to park my stroller despite the restaurant being compact. They never made be feel like a bother and I greatly appreciate that as it is so often the case with customer service these days. The service system is easy to use, the food is good for a fair price, and the experience is novel (at least to me and my set of experiences). I recommend this place!

I visited Kura for the first time on a Wednesday and was seated immediately. The person I was with had been here before but the ordering process is pretty self explanatory—all orders are put in using the touch screen at your table.
The revolver didn’t have much on it while we were there. I assume that’s because we came in when it was pretty dead. We had to put in an order for all our food.
The food was great! We got the caterpillar roll, crunchy roll, spicy tuna roll, and seared beef. Everything came out in a timely manner.
Will definitely be back!

Pretty “sick” if you ask me. This place is like a casino. They sit you down and you can just start grabbing food and the next thing you know you’ve grabbed 18 plates and your accounts have been liquidated. Anyways, garlic skipjack and umami oil seared beef were the best of what I tried. I was also a fan of the spicy crunchy roll and the mochi. I didn’t try it but I’m told the seared salmon w/ Japanese Mayo was pretty good. There were a number of things that I thought were good or okay and a couple that I wouldn’t get again but you should try it out and see for yourself.

First time here. Tabitha was incredibly sweet, walking me thru the process and making sure I was doing good throughout my meal. Food was fresh and plentiful.
Each plate off the conveyor is around 2.96 a piece. There was a good mixture of nigiri, specialty rolls, and smalls bites including desserts, edamame and cucumber.
If you are dining alone, don't sit at the bar, it's last on the train and by the time anything gets to you, it's gone. You can order off the menu, but it takes a while.
If you come ask for Tabitha and come hungry.

Fantastic place. I love that the food options are rare, you don’t typically see them at common sushi restaurants.
They offer “prizes” after you eat a certain amount of dishes, which is very fun.
Although I enjoy this place thoroughly, I will admit that it is expensive. I didn’t leave nearly half as full as I usually do compared to other places, however, it is still 100% worth it to visit once.

It decent not the best since I'm from Japan. Waited two hours good thing it's attach the the mall so we just walked around the mall while waiting. Food is just ok. Some idiot took the top of the sushi and left the rice there so the same plate that's half eaten was going around and around
It's definitely pricy. Place could be cleaner.
I know I shouldn't compare to Japan but, cleanliness could be better

Best sushi experience in Tampa Bay Area. Kitchen manager John is outstanding and goes above and beyond to make sure people are happy with their food. Blaze in the front of house has a great attitude and always friendly. Oh by the way the sushi is fresh and the monthly specials can be really unique.
Thank you John, Blaze, and Kura

The concept is great and the revolving sushi worked but it did not have enough food on it, we had to wait for over 4 mins. We ended up ordering from the menu and the service was also slow. Overall I gave it a 4 because of the service and there not being food on revolving machine.

We had a nice dining experience at Kura located ar the Westhore Mall. When we entered one of the servers, Christian, was very helpful and signed us in. We went during lunch time and we didn't wait long to be seated. Christian led us to a table and explained thoroughly the whole process of ordering on the monitor. Ordering everything was easy and we didn't wait long for our orders. He was our server as well and made sure we were taken care of. He provided great service and checked on us occasionally to see if everything was good. The quality of the sushi was great and it was all fresh, and the prices are reasonable. We would definitely go again to this location because of the great service we had. Thanks Christian! I definitely recommend trying Kura, if you have not.

A fun experience!! Unfortunately it felt like there was no sushi on the bar most of the time we were there (didn't replenish). However we ordered what we wanted on the screen. Sushi quality and taste was good (not great). Recommend the seared beef sushi and eel sushi. Mochi was also good and sesame balls for dessert.

Great experience! Food was very good and fresh.
They have a good variety of plates and you get full faster than you think. Even the Cheesecake was great. Only issue sign outside door is a bit confusing, but we just walked in and were able to use the iPad to sign in.

Honestly, probably the worst sushi ive ever had. Employees are so nice but the food is just bad. Nice concept but really low quality and the wait time is INSANE.

I walked into the restaurant and put my name and number of people in my party into the computer. They gave me an estimated wait time of 0-10 minutes, that was fine. 30 minutes later we still hadn’t been called so I walk inside to grab someone, which by the way don’t expect service because there is none in the restaurant. They then called my table but told me that they are closing the kitchen and we will not be able to order anything and only a limited number of food will be on the belt. Why would I go into a restaurant if there was no food, I understand that it was 30 minutes to closing. But what I don’t understand is how I had been there well before closing time and they wouldn’t give us food. Not to mention the staff was incredibly rude and not helpful at all, no sure if I will ever return. Absolutely outrageous.

Out of all the amazing dishes I only got a picture of this sashimi because look at it!! The food is always so fresh and does resemble Japan! Everyone will find something. And most plates are $3 for about 2 pieces of sushi. Every 15 plates I believe you get to play a game like gatcha pon in Japan. Cute little prizes. Wasabi tastes fresh which is delightful. Associates are helpful and attentive. Also, a little robot will bring your drinks sometimes. Will return soon.

Becoming one of our favorite sushi restaurants in the area. It's a Japanese chain restaurant come to the bay area! Love the conveyer belt style, definitely feels like you're in Japan. Sushi is fresh and they even use real crab in their California rolls.

During late afternoon/early evening the choices on the revolving belt was very limited, and ordered items took a long time to come out.

Small restaurant located on the outside of the mall. You will have to get there and sign in if there is a wait. It's a popular place, so just know you'll probably have to wait. Food is good and it's a cool concept.

Amazing place. Awesome food. And honestly I nothing else will bring you to Tampa for this place, they have a Japanese toilet... With a HEATED toilet seat that opens with music as you enter the room.

The place was good but the sushi was not the best

Wait times are usually higher than advertised because it's such a small place.

the food is pretty damn amazing albeit a bit overpriced, it comes out fast and fresh when its to order, one thing that bothers me, as expensive as the meals can be, they still expect you to tip, and that's particularly odd considering that each time I've been here my server only ever brings me drinks, everything else is self serve. my total was almost $70 and the suggested tip was $11.49...... naw ima pass I'm not paying someone 12 dollars to just bring me two drinks, in a place like this where server interaction is basically noting more than carrying out drinks while literally everything else is self serve there shouldn't even be an option for gratuity, in a sit down service restaurant i'll tip %20 bare minimum, but a self serve rotary sushi? no, i'm not tipping, nor should i be expected too.

Concept is great and fun. Definitely worth trying. Sushi was good aside from the rice completely falling apart when being picked up.
Didn't like the cleanliness level and lack of small bowls to pour soy sauce into.

This shop reminds me of my childhood sushi shop. Very classic... unfortunately..
Sushi was not fresh. Apparently frozen items. Octopus was all wet and came from frozen item. Shop was too cold、 selection was so limited. Customer service was ok.Never come back again.
