We got a couple of sushi rolls as appetizers, and tonkatsu ramen and yakisoba noodles for our meal. They have great happy hour and lunchtime specials (2 for 1 rolls, apps, drinks, etc). I have been coming here for years, and the food never, ever disappoints. It isn't fast food, so don't come in and expect to leave in a hurry.

My favorite place to eat in Florida. Love my steak house, seafood joints and all the native cuisine, but Jimotti's flavors just knock it out of the park. I'd put them up against any trendy, overpriced fancy place in Los Angeles any day depending f the week. Great beers too.

Tonkotsu ramen came without onion or mushroom and the broth tasted a little bland. The spider roll came without eel sauce on top so it was a bit dry. The takoyaki was so soft it couldn't easily be picked up with chopsticks. She said that's how they do it there... Idk. Prices were average, food was average. Nice staff though.

Don’t judge a book by its cover with this one. We showed up at 8pm on a Saturday night and the place was dead. Definitely not the Greatest location but the food was . Great quality Japanese food at affordable prices. Some of the best quality fresh real sushi and sashimi that I have had in a long time. We enjoyed the dumplings, sweet potato tempura, my daughter had the tonkotsu ramen and it was a hit for her. Wife and son split the grill chicken fried rice and they enjoyed.

If you've driven by this place but not stopped in because of the outside appearance do yourself a favor and stop. I drove by for a year before finally stopping. They have amazing Ramen, far superior to that unfriendly place at Henry's depot. The staff has been super friendly and helpful every time. They have quickly became one of our favorites in the area. My fav is the DanDan and the tonkatsu.

It is always nice to try a Japanese restaurant that is Japanese owned. However, I was sadly disappointed by their offerings. The yakinuku/yakitori skewers & fantastic service is hands down excellent!! Their tonkotsu ramen was quite underwhelming, especially if you have tried Domu or Jinya. The broth & noodles honestly tasted like a doctored up instant ramen packet that I could have added by own pizzaz at home. But hey, you won't know till you try it. I did not try their sushi, so I really cannot speak for that. Overall, I would return for their meat skewers alone as those were nicely done!

If you love ramen eat here. Our lunch was fantastic. The gyoza was a good start but the ramen was fantastic. If you can handle some spice I recommend the Dan Dan Ramen with a draft Kirin beer. Man it was such a great combo it made me ready for a nap! My wife loved the Tonkotsu Ramen it was tasty the more notable parts was the perfectly soft boiled egg and delicious chashu pork. All of that ran around $50.

The service was what you would expect on a slower Wednesday lunch: very attentive and very nice. All while our server juggled a 10 top family with kids. She handled it easily without ignoring our needs.

They have outside seating but I couldn't take advantage in the Florida summer but I could see enjoying it on a nice fall day. Will be a constant suggestion for any friends or family flying out of Sanford from now on!

AVOID IF YOU HAVE MELANIN. This was the second Ramen place we stopped at on our way from MCO to Jacksonville. We just returned from Mexico and decided to try Ramen, and this place had 4.5 stars. I accidentally drove past at first and had to turn around. We didn't see that it was two entrances. I got the first parking place next to the door. I got my son out of the car, and we entered. A lady from the back greeted us after standing in place for about five minutes, and the waiter walked in between my son and I and didn't say a word. I stood with our back to the door, waiting on instructions on seating, as a Caucasian couple entered the opposite entrance. They were immediately greeted and told to take a seat anywhere they liked. I looked at the waiter in the face with disgust, and he then acknowledged me and asked if it take out or dine in. I said dine in, and he said have a seat anywhere, and then my son said he needed to use the restroom. The waiter told us it is out back of the restaurant. As I waited for my son to finish using the restroom, I decided I won't be patronizing with this business. I would suggest all melanated individuals to avoid.

Do not let your first impression of the exterior sway your decision to go in. Place was quiet during a Friday lunch time but I think it's because it looks like a mom and pop diner from the outside. I went based on other reviews as well as the chef's background. The food which is what I was there for did not disappoint. I had the udon bowl, not only tasty broth but loaded with the meat. I also liked that there was no cilantro for the 10% of us that believe it tastes like dish soap lol. Give them a try oh and waitress was super nice too

What a cozy wonderful Japanese family style restaurant. It felt so homey I loved it. Small restaurant. Clean with plenty of seating inside and out. Simple and straightforward menu. We were greeted and seated immediately.
I got the takoyaki as an appetizer. It was so soft and melt in your mouth goodness! I'm a sucker for some good takoyaki. I go all over central Florida looking for the best ramen. So I always try their Tonkotsu so it's an even playing field.
It was good Tonkotsu! Very filling. The noodles weren't My favorite but still very good. The egg was absolutely perfect. Something about the broth felt like it was missing something but I finished my entire bowl happily. But my favorite dish was what my friend got, the Niku udon.
The meat. Cooked so well. The noodles. Chewy and perfect. And the star, the dashi stock they used was DELICIOUS. Probably one of the best udon broths I've ever had. What the tonkotsu lacked in depth the udon made up for in flying colors. Please come check this place out if you are in the greater Sanford/lakemary area!

I’ve never been to the actual restaurant but they do a pop kitchen at Valencia College. I’ve gotten food from there twice and each time it was so good. Surprisingly good food. A hidden gem in Sanford, had hot miso Ramen and some rolls. Only some tiny things made it less than perfect. They were seriously understaffed so our food took a while, I had to ask for my Ramen and my friends were almost done eating. The sushi was good but too warm for me. I like raw fish to be cold but that's just me. The atmosphere is kinda cool, old school Tokyo tiny restaurant. I think Anthony Bourdain would approve.

Nestled away in a charming corner, you'll find a hidden gem: this ramen shop is a portal to comfort and flavor. Stepping inside is like stepping back in time, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels more like a cozy kitchen than a restaurant. The space might be small, but that just makes it feel more intimate, like sharing a delicious meal with friends and family.

And oh, the food! Forget everything you think you know about ramen. This place takes it to another level. We dove into the Spicy Miso Ramen, a fiery dance of rich broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and a tongue-tingling kick that left us wanting more. And then there was the Dan Dan Ramen, a creamy, nutty masterpiece that was pure comfort in a bowl. Each bite was a revelation, a symphony of textures and tastes that left us utterly satisfied.

Don't let the understated exterior fool you. This ramen shop is a culinary adventure waiting to happen. So trust me, ditch your preconceptions and grab a seat. You won't regret it.

This is a great Japanese restaurant. The menu has a wide variety of foods, ranging from sushis to an assortment of noodle/soup bowls. The service is routinely great, and the food quality is excellent. On this day, we selected a miso soup noodle bowl, and the ubiquitous bento box. We also ordered the "take a chance" appetizer, which is a fresh tuna stuffed jalapeño. The stuffed jalapeño was lightly friend and delicious. The other items were also quite good.

I've never had an owner of a restaurant call me stupid under his breath.
I didn't like the Takoyaki I ordered, it was soft mushy and tasted pretty bad.
I asked for a refund if possible and Chef Junichi was pretty insulted, called me Stupid as I was leaving, Childish for not liking things that don't suit my taste and said he doesn't care how his food tastes, because this is how "real" japanese food tastes. The owner is pretty immature and doesn't know how to take criticism about his food I assume that's why he keeps a sign posed on the wall saying
"no refunds"

Food tasted so bad. I tried to return it. But they supposedly have a no return sign posted. They showed me it but it was so small I couldn't read it. The manager - owner, whatever he was is the rudest person I ever had an encounter with. He called my son and I stupid along with many derogatory words I won't mention or care to remember. He shot us birds with his middle fingers. He said he don't care if anyone likes his food. This restaurant needs to close. This man in my opinion is a very nasty person. I am sure he has had bad encounters with other guests. He got real angry and defensive. I would not give it any stars but I had to do I can post.

A true Japanese master in Sanford’s backyard. The atmosphere is what one would expect from an old BBQ joint turned Japanese restaurant but the food.

This is by far some of the best Japanese cuisine I have ever tasted and I have traveled extensively throughout the country and world. It’s authentic but willing to be adventurous. Refined yet fun.

The service is phenomenal and the prices are really a steal. What a hidden gem in Sanford’s own backyard. You would have to travel well over 1000 miles to find anything comparable.

I ordered takeout to bring food with me on the auto train. First time here so picked out a few appetizers and sushi. Eggplant with miso was cooked perfectly and nicely flavored. Tofu agedashi was a also nicely flavored. Vegetable rolls in rice paper were very fresh and delicious. The salmon avocado roll was fresh and good. The only item I was disappointed in was the mini salad which consisted of fresh spring mix, but then covered with canned corn. I wasn’t thrilled with the corn idea. The place advertised family owned and I wanted to support them. When I walked in to pick up my order clearly it is a family owned business with well behaved small children in the background and mom and dad working very hard. Looks like they have seen better days as the place could use a fresh coat of paint and a little sprucing up. The outdoor seating is a bonus. Bathrooms around the back of the building were clean and kept up. I’ll definitely give them another try when I’m in town again.

2023 edit. Went back for an early dinner, around 5.30pm on a Friday. The sushi menu was greatly reduced - no nigiri mentioned in the actual menu and the waitress told me that they only had tuna, yellowtail, and salmon. Ordered spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll and a couple of yellowtail nigiri and was disappointed. Sushi rice was very mushy and wet...quality of fish was still good and the spicy tuna mix was well made. Nonetheless, overall, a mixed experience.

Location is random - restroom is out back, interior is very sparse with old booths and furniture, but the food is really good. Had their sushi platter once and tried their ramen tonight. Liked them both.

DanDan Ramen - 4/5

Miso Ramen - 4/5 sometimes, frequently the pork is prepared poorly and resembles licking the underarm of a world class athlete after the competition of their life.

Pork Gyoza - somehow less flavor than the gyoza from Enson market frozen section.

Sushi - an uncanny resemblance to publix day old sushi.

Takoyaki - ball of mush with grizzle in the center seasoned with powerder seasoning that dries the roof of your mouth instantly.

Yakisoba - dehydrated rice noodles with a splash of water to make them slightly tender, then empty a gallon of soy sauce into the pan.

Regular staff customer service - 4/5, they are generally nice and don’t normally mess up anything on orders.

Owner customer service - 0/5. The owner of this place gives you an authentic pre WW2 Japanese experience. Extremely entitled and incredibly rude to women. I placed an order over the phone totaling over $100 and gave my card info to the nice woman on the phone. I asked my sister to go pick up the order since it had already been paid for, this was my mistake. The owner refused to honor the transaction and threatened to call the police since she was not the card holder (whatever, I understand). So I rush out the door to show my ID and card. I arrive at the establishment to be told that my card is illegal (not sure what gave him that idea, again whatever, I’m hungry and I like the Ramen here). While his staff rung up the order again so they can swipe my card to ensure its real, my sister suggested that the reason the name on the card did not appear below the signature line was due to it being manually entered over the phone, the owner then says “I’m not talking to you, I’m talking to him, you are not legal”. Finally I pay, leave a 20% tip, and go home to eat my now soggy Ramen. I would love to say I am never going back, but I need to find an alternate Ramen spot before I write this place off forever.

Sushi Experience №139

2nd time and last time. Disappointing and overpriced for portion size and ingredients added (including amount of broth).

The first time I tried this place out, I was excited because it is fairly close to home and even more close to work. I felt like ramen (which I do quite often) so I got my usual, Tonkotsu ramen. I also ordered grilled yellowtail body for my partner. I arrived and picked up my bags and thought they’d felt unusually light for what I’d ordered but I didn’t think too much of it. We finally sat down to eat, back at our room and the fish was not only over-cooked, dry and flavorless, it was severely small for a $20 fish order. It came with a TINY side salad, that was put in the same box as the fish which obviously wilted the leaves. My ramen, I thought was small for price and skimp on ingredients (vegetables and noodles). I was also annoyed that only HALF of 1 egg was used. But that’s just me.. Again, let’s consider price vs. portion size. I figured with inflation and possibly bouncing back from this, may have reflected in this and decided to give it a go again when the moment arose.

That was a few months ago. Fast forward to tonight, where I ordered 3 Tonkotsu ramen, 1 with a chicken replacement, and edamame. I open my container and I see mostly noodle, almost no broth I go for my chicken and it’s what I can only describe as 2 chicken blobs, wrapped in foil. But I’m hungry, fresh off of work, on my Friday, so I eat it anyway. The noodles are overcooked/soggy and my 1/2 an egg looked like it had been sitting somewhere in the open, for hours. My edamame is very obviously in its beginning stages of spoilage, seeing as the white fur spots looked like they were boiled or rinsed off, and there is a slight slimy texture inside, if they are not fresh, or at the least stored properly. I ate a few, my daughter ate a few. I’m tossing the rest.
1 Tonkotsu order was for my daughter, 1 was for my nephew. I introduced my daughter to ramen a while back and she fell in love with it. She took a few bites and set the mostly uneaten container back down and didn’t touch it again. Low and behold, the noodles are soggy and the broth is obsolete. I’d say 1 actual cup, at BEST. Although the best looking batch, my nephew, thank goodness, ended up being too tired to eat his.

I passed the order up, the night prior, for fear that I would’ve been cutting it too close to closing time after my shift and didn’t want to risk being served subpar food. I figured a Wednesday would work out better, since I’d had a few items to order and there was supposed to be an incentive (according to the home page of the website) of 20% off. I’d hoped that they were still open and just my luck, there was a couple, still dining in. With about 45 minutes until close, I ordered, and was taken aback when the hostess said “about 5 minutes.” I just knew right then… -__- I’m willing to overlook the presence of children because it’s a family owned business and genuinely not a big deal, especially considering culture. However; needless to say, the Wednesday ramen dinner discount was not added, I’ve received overcooked noodles for ALL 3 orders, outdated edamame, and disgusting chicken. Disappointed is not the word I want to use right now, after paying the amount that I did but I WILL say, the broth IS very flavorful. That has been my only compliment, alongside hospitality, from the hostess, with both experiences.

This place has better ramen and tasty broth than I had at DOMU east end market. I had a better experience will come back to this place again.

Worst takoyaki I've ever had. Felt like a coagulated, scorching ball of wet dough with a single rubber-like piece of octopus.

The spicy miso ramen was underwhelming. The broth was okay but the pork belly was dry and the noodles might as well have come from a Cup of Noodles.

Tried this place for the 1st time today 2.24.22 Spicy miso ramen, over cooked noodles that tasted and looked more like angle hair pasta. Not good 😐 the pork chashu was not good. Disappointed!

This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Orlando. I am a Japanese and tried many Japanese restaurants in this town but Jimotti made me so nostalgic about Japan the most. I tired Tonkotsu ramen and the noodle, the soup and everything in it was so good and pretty filling. What I was surprised was that their salmon and avocado roll was so tasty. The ratio of rice and fish was great and the temperature of the rice was perfect which is hard to have in America. We will come back here to try more foods! (there are so many foods I wanna try) Thank you:)

The most underwhelming, over priced (for the portion) sushi ever. Rolls only came with 6 small pieces for the same price of a roll that everywhere else would come with 8. They were rolled very averagely, about the equivalent of what I roll when I make sushi from home.

The staff was super friendly and the food was good. The only issue I had was that they would not substitute vegetables in place of the noodles in the ramen. I was told if they substitute for one they have to do it for everyone and they don’t have the time for that. I am dirty keto and I have been to several ramen places that will gladly substitute, some charge extra and some don’t. I was willing to pay extra but was still told no. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I ended up ordering several appetizers that were very good. I would go again for just those, but if I want ramen I will have to find someplace else.

I have a friend who always raved about Jimotti's but I never had the time whenever I was in the area. As fate would have it, I finally had some time after a job in the area! I'm pregnant and had a STRONG craving for some ramen and so glad I did because I literally just ate the best ramen I've ever had in my entire life. I ordered the Dan-Dan at the suggestion of the front of house and I wish I could rewind time and eat it again. The chef is so talented and I'm so happy I finally tried his food. I'm just gutted I never tried it sooner! I can't wait to go back.

The fried Oysters were soft and the presentation of the food was delightful!

Absolutely best Poke Bowl I've had in years. If you are into simple presentation, but wonderful flavor then I would highly recommend this place!

Sushi Experience №167

MY FIRST TIME HERE: I walked up to the door at 1:45p and the sign says open to 2p for lunch. I walk in and first thing I see is a mom rocking/cradling her newborn infant as a little girl is walking around her. I think “awww” because I love babies.

Waitress with cool hair asks “table for one? You can sit anywhere you’d like.” I sit and order my food quickly because I know they’re about to close. 1) DO NOT get the takoyaki, they’re microwaved I’m sure. 2) Miso soup is good. 3) DAN DAN was recommended by the waitress and it did not disappoint.

I’m eating the food nonstop as I know the clock just hit 2p. I finish the soup and put it to the side, waitress drops off the checkbook and says “no rush” and takes the empty miso bowl. I dig into the delicious DAN DAN and I’m putting a spoonful in my mouth as the dude from the kitchen walks up to my table WHILE SPOON IN MY MOUTH and grabs the checkbook, and I have to cover my mouth to tell him I haven’t even looked at it yet. Dude opens the checkbook, shoves it in my food stuffed face, and tells me I need to pay and go because they need to close.

Bruh I just got my scorching hot food, and it’s barely past 2p!

I drop the chopsticks and the spoon, I paid, I gulped down the ice green tea I haven’t even touched yet, and I GTFO outta there without finishing my DAN DAN and having only touched one takoyaki ball. It’s whatever, the balls weren’t fresh anyway.

I wish I could say this was my first and last time here due to the rude dude’s lack of decency and brazen audacity, but I have to admit the DAN DAN was good, so I don’t know I may come back closer to opening rather than close IF there is a next time.

RUDE AF.

The decor was not the greatest but it felt peaceful. Better lighting and greenery would give this place a big lift. If I had to rate it it would be a 2 out of 5.

I ordered several dishes based on my mood and the menu but I will definitely be back to try the Ramen!

The shrimp fried rice was okay. It was a touch underseasoned and it left me wanting more garlic or sesame flavors. I would say if it had more flavor it would have been a 5 out of 5 but this night I'd say 3 out of 5.

Fantastic ramen. We had sake, 2 rolls, and the tomato ramen and spicy miso ramen. The tomato ramen is surprisingly fresh and has a wonderful balance of flavor from the cilantro and bone broth. The miso ramen is nice and spicy, but rich and creamy. The rolls, veggie and spicy tuna, were fantastic, spicy tuna being my favorite and actually having a little kick unlike some places. It's a small shop, but such good food. Worth the 25 minute drive for me! Will be back!

wow, best ramen in Sanford hands down. I brought a good book to read while I had some hot tea. I had a beer after the tea, read some more and relaxed. Ended up ordering the spicy miso ramen with a side of Karaage and gyzoa. Everything was excellently delicious. I wouldnt be surprised to see myself here at least once a week. They also had some good music playing wasn't too loud or anything but it was some great 80s stuff. This is now my favorite spot...

I don't think the customer would take her time to take the dish with the sponge in it back to the restaurant if it was no true.. I AM sorry she got a rude response. That happened to me one time, when I found a nail in the food. This is unacceptable, and restsurants should be clean, & have the workers wear nets on their heads & gloves when working with food.If a restaurant's kitchen does not have these things, then I don't go to those restaurants.
A word to the wise restaurant owners should be sufficient.
