I visited Otoro Sushi + Asian Kitchen for the first time, deciding to stop in for lunch. The restaurant has a great look and is very inviting, making a positive first impression.

However, the service could definitely use some improvement. It felt like I was anything but a priority during my visit. The staff attending to guests seem to be on the younger side, and I think it's important to instill good service characteristics to enhance the overall experience. My server appeared to have a buddy at the bar who, despite not ordering food or drinks, was prioritized over the guests.

Additionally, it's worth noting that there are no lunch specials available, so be prepared for a pricier meal. Two rolls and miso soup came to the mid-$40 range, which seems a bit unnecessary for lunch.

That said, the food itself was fantastic, and as I mentioned before, the atmosphere is really appealing. With a bit more focus on service and perhaps some lunch specials, Otoro Sushi + Asian Kitchen has the potential to be a standout spot.

OTORO is THE ultimate in Japanese cuisine. While this review is long overdue, it is a well-deserved 5-star raving review. We have thoroughly enjoyed many dining experiences and have been thoroughly impressed and delighted every single time. When you visit Otoro, you will consistently find the freshest, most superb sushi, and the finest quality ingredients in all their delicious dishes. Plus, the hospitality and service are impeccable with a presentation that is truly set-apart, tastefully done with modern elegance.

Our visit to Otoro Kitchen was a delightful culinary adventure. We started with the Ahi Tuna Crispy Rice, which was absolutely amazing. The Avocado Balls, filled with spicy tuna, truffle mousse, and sturgeon caviar, were creamy and delicious.

We then shared the Volcano Roll and the Mt. Fuji Roll. Both were fantastic, with the baked seafood topping on the Mt. Fuji Roll being exceptionally good.

For dessert, the staff recommended the Ube Flan. Though we were unsure of what to expect, we were eager to try something new. It had the perfect amount of sweetness, with a flan-like texture that was airy and light. It was divine!

We will ABSOLUTELY be back!

All the food was delicious: tried the ribeye w/ chimichurri, potstickers, and rock shrimp

Everything was so great

The sushi (G14) is a must have if you are like me. I normally don't enjoy sushi but this is cooked and was pleasant

Amazing high quality sushi and food in a casual atmosphere. We have visited many times before but last time decided to try the omakase experience and wow did it impress!! 14 delicious courses prepared personally by chef Jimmy who was awesome to talk to. The food was absolutely delicious , we love the Fatty toro sashimi fresh and melted in our mouth , scallop caviar sushi and others sushi are very high quality level for the food we ordered when we there. We will definitely come back again 😋!

Tuna crispy appetizer didn’t come with tuna and it was terribly bland Lychee martini wasn’t balanced they added lavender and it tasted like perfume.
Short rib entree was good and tender. My wine glass didn’t arrive and I was half way my food. I had to remind the server
This was on Sunday around 12 noon the restaurant was empty we were the first two clients. 20 mins later a couple with two kids showed up. Server was pleasant. No ambiance. Wouldn’t go back.

We ordered many appetizers which were all good. Then ordered the main dishes. One of our diseases was a chicken teriyaki which was horrific. Chicken was overcooked and dry as sand. We asked the waiter who was good to replace the chicken only. He asked if we wanted a new dish we said just the chicken. Needless to say the second batch came out the same. Hard and dry.

The waiter offered us a 30% discount on a dish, even though we didn’t eat any of it. I then asked to talk to the manager who commented and said that the chicken is juicy and that she checked with the kitchen, but she will do an exception and a favor and remove the dish from the bill.

I must say that The fourth time back there, and I will never be back there again Bad service or even the bad food, but only because a very unprofessional manager

Overall good experience except for 2 issues.
1. One of 6 in our group had to wait 10 minutes for their main course while every else received theirs
2. Tip was automatically included at 20% and was calculated from combined service and taxes. Usually when service is included it should only be calculated from the service not taxes and should be no more than 18%. If customer wants to add to that amount it should be at the discretion of the customer.

We had visited this place for the first time two weeks ago and decided to try again to see if the service & food was just as good a second time. The answer was yes. Alicia our waitress was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about all the questions posed to her. She recommended the Ahi Tuna Crispy Rice. It had a great spicy taste and the crispy rice mixed with the tuna, jalapeños, ginger is really quite delicious. We also enjoyed the Curry Udon with chicken. For dessert the Tempura cheesecake was unique to us and really quite tasty, accompanied by vanilla ice cream, blueberries and whip cream

This is by far my favorite sushi restaurant! The restaurant is very modern and clean. It has an amazing bar with very delicious drinks. The staff are all very tentative and on point never missing a beat! I recommend sitting at the sushi bar to be able to experience the amazing chef jimmy himself. The quality of the food here is top tier and their attention to detail is impressive! There isn’t an item I’ve eaten at this place that I wasn’t happy with! Go wild and try out the omakase experience it’s a must try for a wild adventure. You can get that Miami boutique sushi experience for cheaper and just way better! Absolutely love this place!

I just had the most incredible dining experience at this sushi restaurant! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, but it was the food that truly stole the show.

The Ramen was hands-down the best I've ever tasted - rich, savory broth filled with tender, juicy pork and springy noodles that cooked to perfection.

But the real star of the show was the G14 Roll - a masterful combination of flavors and textures that left me speechless! The delicate sweetness of the seafood, the crunch of the tempura bits, and the tangy zip of the sauce came together in perfect harmony.

Overall, this place is a MUST-VISIT for sushi lovers! Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Do yourself a favor and run away from this place!!!
My husband and I wanted to have a nice dinner with good sushi, well...it went terrible. We had 3 rolls, 4 hand rolls, 2 sake and 1 bowl of noodles. I ordered a glass of wine which never came but I was charged for it, the bill was $150 and we left from there starving!

I got tired of driving all the way east for decent sushi. I’ve been on a hunt for a while and landed here. This has quickly become our go to sushi spot. The ambiance is chill and cozy but more importantly the food is amazing. Both my wife and I love sashimi/nigiri and we found that they have some of the freshest. I get this dish called Nigiri Moriawase, an assortment of 12 nigiri’s, I keep coming back for that. Anyways, great spot if you enjoy great sushi.

My wife and I's "Go To" restaurant for Japanese food when choosing local eatery. The rice, which is just as important, if not more important, than the fish, is of excellent quality.

Chef Jimmy knows where in Japan the fish is imported from rather than a vague "the fish is imported from Japan"-type statement.

The rolls combine both classic and non-classic, ingredients, which is paramount importance in staying in the "who-of-who's" of cuisine, today.

I love this place because the fish quality is great, rolls are delicious, and they cater to gluten free people. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Something to note, they charged my husband and I the “large party” automatic 20% gratuity and charged us full price on happy hour items. I’m not confrontational and I would have tipped that much anyway, so I just paid. However, I don’t appreciate when waiters try to sneak extra charges..

This is such an incredible hidden gem! 10/10! We came in from a recommendation from a friend and it was worth it! We love sake, only to find out they have a huge variety with great descriptions. For sake we had the 1000 dreams which was fabulous and followed that with the Hana white peach sparkling, which if you like a little sweetness and floral notes is amazing.
For food we got the lobster karaage which was fried, garnished with a bit of Mayo and lemon grass. It was super light! We also got the Avocado ball which was very unique with the truffle mousse on top. If you like caviar and truffle it is definitely a must try. We got the grilled octopus app, which my husband and I have to try octopus at every restaurant we go to, and we both agree that this was amongst the best we have ever had. As a finale we got the king crab sashimi which was warm and buttery, and the amber jack carpaccio. This place is spectacular and we are surprised it doesn't have a location las Olas!

We absolutely love this place! It's the most delicious, clean tasting sushi in town and we've liked pretty much every roll we've ordered. We love to sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs make sushi and the staff always interacts and is very friendly. This is a family owned place and the owners are super sweet and even gave us a little taster of something new they were working on that day. The restaurant is usually very quiet, but eating here is always a peaceful experience.

My family and I just had the most amazing food and service for my father in laws birthday. EVERYTHING we had was amazing and we ordered a lot. You really can’t go wrong here.

Justin is a best in class server. He was the nicest, most amazing, and all around great guy. Truly can’t say enough nice things about him. He deserves an award.

Shawn is an awesome manager. He cares about his customers and employees and it shows. He made time to share in our experience and hospitality is second to none.

HIGHLY recommend you drive out if your way to have the experience that is Otoro. A million and then some out of ten.

We visited the restaurant for the first time. Amazing discovery! The oyster special was out of this world. Fantastic sashimi, nigiri and rolls . Great selection of sake. Service was great! Food was served in a timely manner, still we didn't feel rushed.

EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE. I finally found an amazing Asian restaurant! I never write a review, but this restaurant deserves a review and more. The incredible experience was a wonderful combination of ambiance, service, and, of course, the food. Tyna, the beautiful and attentive person who took care of us, kindly explained and recommended her favorite plates and beverages. It just so happens, Tyna was the head chef of Otoro, so she is an absolutely amazing treasure of Otoro culinary knowledge. Head chef Jimmy-San and his team prepare food to perfection. Every plate is a joy to the senses. If you’re looking for extraordinary service and extraordinary Asian cuisine, Otoro is a must!! Started off with some very tasty krab rangoon, delicious. The Brasied short rib dish was amazing. Added a side of Brussels sprouts and they were to die for ! Service was great. So glad I came across here

I really liked this place, and I know there are tons of sushi 🍣 restaurants, and everyone swears the one they go to is the best lol but try this one out u won't be disappointed! The nigiri was great and good quality fish.the chef has his own specials that you can try (omakase) I didn't have the chance to do so but next time I will and I'll post about it . I had the salmon nigiri and sashimi, and it was delicious, and you must must try the roasted garlic salad!
The wine was delicious, and they had a napa Valley cab for $54. You can't beat that. I will definitely come back and take more pics and try more items.

I spent over $70 on a to go order. I said no prons on my sushi and I made it clear (she even repeated the order) when I got home there was prons on top and when I asked for one side of spicy mayo in person for my to go order they have to charge $1 which I didn’t have on me and run back to my car but they couldn’t just give it to me.

As a sushi lover, I must say this was the best meal I have had in some time. We started with the Kani rangoon and the crispy, yet tender, fried baby octopus with yuzu aioli (Idako). We followed it with the G14 roll made with spicy yellowtail, spicy tuna, cream cheese, and avocado that is then flash fried. We then had the sea bream sashimi and a few pieces of otoro nigiri which were so fresh and creamy from the fat content in the tuna. Then came the creme de la creme, the aburi sake toro!! It's a soy brushed, then torched piece of toro topped with a drop of cilantro aioli and black caviar!! Best piece of nigiri I have ever put in my mouth!!! My friend ordered the curry udon as they were sold out of tonkatsu ramen, but he wasnt dissapointed. I tried a bite of it and the noodles were next level! We were stuffed after all of that and I wanted to skip dessert but I am so glad I didnt! I had never had ube before today and it was stunning. Beautiful color and smooth texture with a crunch for contrast, it made the perfect finish to the perfect meal! Our server, Tyler, was very knowledgeable about the menu and each dish came out promptly. We will definitely be back!!!!!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I came here to review the restaurant for the city of plantation. Food dining experience page. I waited at the door for a few minutes before taking a seat at the only seat near the door area. A few minutes later I had a server approach me to ask me if I can not sit there and the owner/manager asked him to have me move and wait somewhere else. “The manager/owner really doesn’t like people sitting there” Based alone on this experience I will be writing about it in the dining section of plantation let’s eat! Hands down my favorite Asian restaurant in town!!! The food is to die for! The staff is the friendliest ever and the atmosphere is amazing, it's so great to come here with friends or with your family, it's perfect for any occasion, we love visiting with our baby, and every single time we feel like royalty, they are such nice people who truly love what they do!
If you are a true sushi lover I recommend the omasake experience with Chef Jimmy-San and mommy, you can thank me later!!

I have went a couple of times with my friend and we loved it. The shogun noodles with tofu and the tsunami roll are amazing. Our waiter Tyler was very respectful and helpful. Not only that but he is a very sweet and handsome young man. He made sure that we were happy with the service and the food. We will definitely be back!

I’ve been a customer for over two years and always loved their food, however I placed an order recently and had an unfortunate experience as I found a long hair inside of my rolls. I sent an email twice, spoke to the manager and they just seemed to NOT care at all. No resolution was given till these days.

We ordered curry udon and a roll.. can’t rmb the name. Both were very good. The roll was pretty crunch and was full of things I love. Katsu was a bit dry but it was fine after dipping into the curry. Nothing special though.

We went for a casual lunch but would like to try other things in the future. It is a little pricey.

I chose this place to have my anniversary dinner tonight and it was amazing! Food was incredible and the service was excellent. Our waiter was on top of everything, we had the grilled octopus and dumplings for appetizers and my husband had the stir fry steak with peppers onions and rice and I had the yummy rolls. The whole time we were there we had food on our table, everything was timed perfectly. I can't wait to go back! Thank you!

This is the best sushi spot I’ve ever been too. The Mount Fuji roll is what I get every single time and it is delicious. I also love getting the crab wontons 🤤 the service has always been great even been there for a birthday and it was a great experience with great food

I must say they have the fastest service. The place is busy when we arrived but we were able to sit right away. Night atmosphere. As soon as we sit the staff approached us right away and got our drink and order. After a few minutes our order came. I was surprised because it likes less than 5 minutes waiting. Mostly with other restaurants like these you at least wait 10-15 minutes before you get a portion of your order. I must say I highly recommend this place and the food taste great too. Pepper steak and bang bang noodles are good food. We will visit again to try other menu.

I Was looking for a new spot to have sushi a we came across Otoro. We were super excited but it wasn’t what we expected. My friend and I had the Sunkiss drink it tasted watered down the lemon drop was ok. We ordered 5 rolls and I don’t know why but everything was so bland if it wasn’t for the sauces it wouldn’t taste like anything at all. Now I do want to add that I do give the food 3 start and that’s because the fish is super fresh is not fishy at all is great quality, The decor is beautiful love the esthetic. My partner and I don’t mind paying for expensive sushi since she is a sushi chef but this place is over priced for such bland sushi. I’m pretty certain we will not be visiting this establishment anymore.

I'm a NYer visiting from out of town and came across Otoro. On entrance, I immediately noticed the modern ambience. I was seated quickly and the server, Stephane, was an absolute pleasure. He suggested the best recommendations and was extremely friendly and easy to connect with. The food was delicious.

The only reason im giving 4 stars is because of the great service they had. Mia was our server. Super attentive and all of her coworkers were passing by and checking on us. Ordered couple appetizers were Okay (fried calamri, and veggi dumplings). Then i ordered chicken karaage and a steak noodle dish. Chicken smelled and tasted super funny, beef was chewy and the plate smelled funny. I returned the chicken but felt bad to return the second plate. Apart from that (service, drinks and ambience are great) but too bad i wont go back again.

Found this place by mistake as its hidden in a little plaza near the 595. The service alone deserves a 10 out of 5 its that good. Several severs checked on me and family to make sure we were being helped. Now for the food, I really enjoyed the spicy coconut soup with mushrooms, really savory and I enjoyed the Tsunami roll. The winner dessert though is the pandan creme brulee, pandan is an East Asian plant that is used in sweets, this overimpressed me and It's a must try when you come here.

Who could imagine that this restaurant in Plantation has food in a class of its own?! My daughter introduced me to Sushi, and I liked it a lot. I have never tasted or seen dishes prepared as beautifully as they do at Otoro. The food is fresh;The restaurant is so clean yet inviting.
I usually go for lunch when it is quiet, relax, finish some work, and go back home. The shopping center is ideal for those living in the nearby apts recently built and especially for those living at One Plantation. Regardless of where you live, take a ride to Otoro!
The staff are extremely accommodating.
If not a fish fan, they offer a duck dish and some beef dishes,too. They do prepare their dishes how you want .
The bar area is just lovely. Comfortable with beautiful colors that enable you to relax.
It is truly a treasure.

The sushi was great and pretty although there are other sushi restaurants that are just as good at a lower price. The "mama's ramen" though tasted like the $1 maruchan Ramen that you get from Walmart. The meat was tough and hard to eat and not the soft chashu pork that i was expecting. Not worth the price. I enjoyed the curry udon though and the chicken. It tasted like thai curry.

Everything about this place is absolutely wonderful. The food is absolutely incredible and the service is even better (a family owned business). There were 4 of us dining , and the girls had the omakase and the guys had steaks. Everything was soooo fresh, high quality and delicious. The value you get out of the meal/price is exceptional. Started off with the Scratch Dumplings and they tasted like something out of the frozen food section at Trader Joe's....good, but nothing special.

The Miso soup was delish and I recommend it.

Had Pad Thai and it was very tasty 👍🏽

Also had some 🍣 that was high quality and delightfully prepared.

I can say that without a doubt, this is the best sushi restaurant that I have been to in South Florida (and I have been to alot). The fish is so fresh it feels as if you are eating at a 5 star restaurant in Tokyo. I ordered the Chef’s nigiri and they did not disappoint. There is so much love and passion that the sushi chefs put into their work that it is intoxicating. We sat at the sushi bar and chef Jimmy was not only knowledgeable but just such a fun and wonderful person to be around.

Highly recommend the Omakase experience- not only is it the highest quality ingredients but they also hook it up!
