I don't think I can name everything good about this place, but the food was absolutely 👌 amazing! The pictures don't do any just. Flavor out of this world! The chef definitely takes pride in cooking. Our server was "OG Logan" he check on us often, very helpful. Also this has to be one of the cleanest restaurants I've been in. If I could give a 10 i would!

We had our 29 year anniversary at Kalbi Ishiban on October 3rd. OMG! The best meal I’ve had in a long time. We had the tuna tartar and the French kiss as an appetizer and then the seafood Shabu shabu for dinner.
Ashley, the manager made the best dry martini and is so friendly, she told me about the seafood noodle soup and the wonderful dishes. we’ve been coming back often since then by the way😁. My favorite place for foid and for a drink in Pensacola. Thank you Ashley ❤️
On our anniversary Our server Bennie was amazing, very patient and discreet ( I don’t like when the water is on you all the time and she gave us privacy ❤️)
The food was absolutely amazing ! Soooo good! And the price was well worth the quality and service🙏🤗

Visiting my son again and just had to stop here for the second time. Absolutely delicious! The tofu appetizer is 4 very large perfectly coated and crunchy pieces in a delicious broth. My son ordered the salmon bento box and I had the eel bento box. The amount of food is crazy for the price. The salmon was insanely good and the eel absolutely scrumptious! The Cali roll and tuna roll were equally as good. The hot and sour soup is a MUST!
The restaurant is beautiful inside, the atmosphere was laid back comfortable.
You definitely will not be let down coming here.

I found this place driving near downtown Pensacola. Establishment looks relatively new with beautiful decor.
I ordered the bulbogi, and my wife ordered the teryiki tofu. It was very flavorful, and the portion was large. Friendly staff. I would return the next time I'm in Pensacola.

We stopped in for dinner one night and found Kalbi Ichiban the service was great and the food was imaginative and delicious. Obviously it is well managed and they have trained chefs in the back. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the bartenders mixing custom cocktails and pouring wine. We tried the Tiger Roll and found it tasty. For our entree we both had a bento box and let me mention this was the largest bento box I’d seen. I guess we should have listened to the bartender. Everything was delicious and well presented. We will definitely be back.

Way overpriced for the food we received. Bland, no seasoning, boiled frozen shrimp and chicken. We were are a party of 7 and literally no one at the table ate their entree. When brought to the managers attention she took $2 off per meal. We paid $260 for food we did not eat. Just don't...she's obviously paid for reviews. The parking lot was empty on a Saturday night.. that should have clued us in.

The atmosphere was amazing. The service was awesome. It's a shame the rolls were so bad. The rice was overcooked and the meat was off taste. Could only eat one piece of each roll and had to choke down a second piece of the one roll. Plum wine was great but more than doubled in price from the brand I buy on a regular basis. All in all if the atmosphere and service weren't so on point I would have scored it lower it's a shame to because I really wanted to like this place but am a big sushi buff (maybe my tastes are to refined when it comes to sushi) but couldn't even eat it. Stick to the korean bbq and instantly there was Christmas music on...not a big fan but if you're going for the bbq not sure yet but don't get the rolls unless you're trying to give the chief some practice. Nothing personal but will avoid eating here in the future. Sry 😞

Pork Bokkuem was fantastic. Well marinated, seasoning caramalized in the hot iron plate, arrived sizzling at our table. The soft tofu stew was not that great. The broth didn't taste like beef broth like it said on the menu, it tasted more like bonito flakes flavor like in miso soup. The miso soup (separate dish) itself was very flavourful. Agnes (our server) was attentive and timley. The ambience of the restaurant is great.

For a long time I've been a denizen of the location on Davis, I would even go so far as to say they're my favorite sushi place in town.
No one comes close to the quality and the freshness of their food and even though I usually get the same thing or some variation, it's always absolutely perfect.
This location downtown has been open for quite a while at this point, and I had visited quite a bit in the past because I live downtown. My initial couple visits were less than stellar, with very inconsistent quality and freshness.
However over the last few months they have not only reached the standard set by the Davis location, I would say they've exceeded it.
Overall the best sushi in town. And a fantastic location and great service and atmosphere, what more could you ask for, don't let this one pass you by, you'll regret it.

The food was great. I had the Bulgolgi Korean Dinner. The server was good but the desert took 30 minutes from order to delivery to the table. That might be more on the kitchen but this was still a major inconvenience when we were late for another engagement due to the tardiness of the dessert delivery. Furthermore, the server should have notified the shift manager of the tardiness and some kind of compensation should have been offered for the major inconvenience. Ultimately, this restaurant is worth revisiting because their menu has a lot of options to try.

Way over priced for the amount of food you get. I got the ginger salad and it was smothered in grated ginger, go with the other salad or a soup. Our meal came with vegetables which was two slices of bell pepper and "kimchi" which was lettuce covered in some kind of light sauce reminiscent of kimchi juice. I added a pic of the "kimchi" below. The beef kalbi was not marinated nearly long enough to be flavorful & the pork kalbi was literally just a pork chop with no seasoning.

Normally a good place but dreadful today. Calamari sauce has MSG and calamari was greasy. Didn't get rolls until maybe 30 minutes after lunch mate got her meal. Clearly a lie that big order delayed it since around us everyone got their rolls, even those arriving after ours. When rolls came, one of my rolls was absolutely disgusting with some kind of syrupy white sweet icing on it instead of Kewpie mayo. WTH happened to this place? Prices are high so expectation is higher than this. Get it together. Coming off the top of my list.

Eat here at your own risk and hopefully your experience is better than ours. We had a party of 6 people, they tried to put us in a booth with the leather on the seats were peeling and looked horrible. We had to ask for them to put us in a better booth and when we were seated, the waitress didn’t come by til after 20 minutes where she said she wasn’t told there was a table waiting for her. After we got our drinks and placed our order, we waited 30-40 mins before we got our food which has not good and my yakiudon was cold with mainly onions and barely any noodles. No one in our party enjoyed their meal and it just felt like we weren’t welcomed. The server checked on us maybe 3 times and every time she came to our table she was rushing.
The only thing that was good were the spicy Korean wings which had no spice and my sister said the sunset roll was good.
Overall I would say this place is definitely below mid and I don’t know how they have a 4.4 rating.

I love Kalbi, and it is a go-to. It's conveniently located near downtown and the ambience is great, the lighting, white leather chairs, cozy booths. Whenever I come to grab a sushi roll and miss at the bar, the bartender is exceptional! I bring family and friends here, they enjoyed everything from the egg drop soup to their version of jalapeño poppers and the Korean wings are really amazing! Spicy, sticky, lean & sweet. Perfectly fried. They have a great selection and you can go for noodles 🍜 or something light. The service is always courteous, kind and thorough. Highly recommend.

This was our first time trying Korean BBQ. We decided to stop in on our way back home and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was incredible and the service was excellent. Dylan did an amazing job of walking us through everything. You could tell he was very knowledgeable on menu items and gave great recommendations. We tried the seaweed salad and it was prepared perfectly. The Brisket BBQ was our entree and we chose to use a charcoal grill for a smoky flavor. Overall this restaurant is a definite 10/10. If we are ever in town we will go back!

We wanted to try this place lunch to see how it goes. The food was delicious and for the price we paid was worth it. The service was good and she was very polite and very knowledgeable of the Korean dishes. We were impressed of the inside of the restaurant but not so much of the parking. I can imagine it gets full quickly since it's so small. We will try it again since they said they have ramen. We love ramen and can't find good restaurant in Pensacola who serves those. After two years of not going here the place has changed a bit. I'll still keep the rating because the food is good but the service has gone in the deep end. It would be nice to get an attentive service next time and I could have tipped well.
It has gotten better the last time we ate here. We do like this place better.

Strongly unrecommended!
Went here and got the Pork Bokkeum w/ Miso Soup. My friend got the Beef Bulgogi & Hot & Sour soup. Admittedly, the miso soup was above average, but it needed to be. The meal was 18 dollars, I could've go to an AYCE Sushi restaurant for lunch for almost that much money.
Now, the entree and fried rice were bad. There was no heat or really flavor at all to the main entree. I even tried the sauce it was in by itself to make sure, and it tasted like straight up oil. The onions definitely were not cooked enough either, as they had not caramelized at all. And the fried rice was easily one of the worst fried rices I have had. Close to zero flavor, and had an off-putting chicken broth flavor, almost like it was a soup. I would honestly rather they microwaved up some frozen fried rice and served that up instead, which is sad for a restaurant with luxury aesthetic and prices.
The booths were extremely uncomfortable, with a singular rock-hard cushion that does not raise up past my lower back. There is no need to make something look aesthetic if it is hardly functional.
Finally, the service was... Not great. The server didn't really come around all that frequently, and I have to get up to wave them down for my bill.
For 20 dollars a head, this restaurant was horrible. For Pensacola, I can name MANY Asian restaurants with far better service, comfort/aesthetic, and food quality. AVOID!

The food portion size and quality was not worth the pricing. Service also low quality, atmosphere was okay but their food quality does not reflect the asking price at all.
Visited 10 months ago
Food was marinated and seasoned well. Service was good. The only thing I didn’t like is that a tip was automatically added into the bill. If I didn’t pay attention on the receipt, I would have mistakenly given 2 tips. I can understand that if it was a large group but it was just 2 of us.

I will now never give this place my service. I walked in and there was only one table seated. No one at the host stand, no one at the bar. The man at the sushi area saw me when I came it but didn't say anything. I sat at the bar and waited. An older man finally came out after several minutes and he started talking to the seated table. This man also saw I was there. Didn't say a word to me. Just continued conversation. From the topic of conversation it sound like he may have been the owner. After about 10 minutes all together of waiting and being ignored, I walked out. I was really excited to try this place as I absolutely love Korean food but I will never give them a dime now.

(Newest update October 13, 2023)
We have been several other times before this update & brought more friends to try this place out. They also loved it. Specifically this date, though, we went as part of our 30 yr anniversary and tried the seafood platter, and some drinks that were new to us. My husband had never liked any of the martinis I've tried in other places, but we both loved the green tea martini. It was not too sweet & perfectly smooth going down.
(Update: We returned in March 2021 to celebrate a combined birthday celebration for our 2 adult daughters and, again, loved the service & food. We always order big with plans to take home & this time the owner or manager came out to meet us. It was really awesome since my husband is half-Korean & we were able to tell her just how great their food is. I've added new pictures.)
Our family went this past Saturday evening to celebrate my birthday (December 11, 2020) and really enjoyed the food. My husband is very knowledgeable about Korean food, and he was very happy he didn't have to cook everything from scratch at home that we ordered.
There were 4 adults and 1 toddler (they have high chairs) so we had the kalbi sampler platter, bulgogi dish, 2 bibim bop, 1 spicy, steamed rice, fried rice, miso soups, & 2 fried raspberry cheesecakes. The fried rice was good, but everything else was delicious! We had enough left over for us to make fried rice for breakfast (we fried eggs to put on top.) I had the fried, raspberry cheesecake slice with most of the drizzle on the side and overall it was a delicious deesert. I do not have a sweet tooth, so I could not handle the sweetness of the crust, raspberry drizzle, or cheesecake middle part. The textures were creamy & fried just right, however, my family members who love sweets & daughter who ordered one, too, said that it was just right on sweetness! The flavored Sojus were a big hit! We bought a green apple & a strawberry to take home. SO good! I've added more pictures.
One thing I have to add is that we ordered a bottle of wine and was unable to finish it, but was extremely happy to know that since we paid for the price of a whole bottle, it was nice to know we could take it home.
Lastly, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, clean, & the service & cost were just right. We will be going back again!

I keep trying this place but am constantly disappointed. Originally due to little or no service. They would seat you at the sushi bat then tell you they are backed up for an hour. I didn’t go back for a couple of years. But tonight went because my favorite, Khons, was closed. It was the worst sushi roll of my live, a Dragon roll that was touted as. Soft shell crab but it was not, it was just fried tempura and the eel in top has a LOT of strong tasting skin, unlike any I’ve ever had before. I paid and tipped 20% before I told the chef and waitress. Neither cared and just said “see you next time”. Not.

The restaurant is beautiful, and appears very clean and tidy
The food just ok. My dragon roll was not freshly fried but clearly had been cooked hours ago as it was cold and had lost its crispiness as freshly fried fish should be.
The tuna fresh seemed odd in color, a too red that did not seem natural
The rice also made me think it was not fresh
Everything flavor and in preparation seemed off… not made in the moment as one expects of sushi
Also ordered the calamari app.. fried too long and therefore a crispiness that tasted of oil
But the restaurant is beautiful! And servers were friendly.
Friday night 5 pm … I really expected to have a fantastic meal but it missed the mark for me

What a great and unexpected find during a quick stop in a shopping center strip mall- (the way much of Pensacola is designed).
Sushi is my go-to “self care.”
Food is medicine. I almost always take out and/or sit at the sushi bar where I can enjoy the art of preparation and ogle the amazing fresh bounty of the Gulf of Mexico and array of beautiful seafoods from the oceans of our Mother.
The restaurant is not huge, but their little hostess was a ray of pure sunshine who cheerfully accommodated me there.
I am on a project in Pensacola this month and found myself in a different part of town. I had been picking up sushi from the downtown neighborhood co-op grocery (which is also good…but it runs out early in the evening). Happy I took this serendipitous detour.
My delightful young server, Emmanuel was terrific- very attentive without “hovering” and he opened a new bottle of wine for my glass. It was also…delicious.
I chose the Ichiban Roll, because you always choose a restaurant’s signature roll the first visit, right? It was immaculate prepared, fresh and delicious.

Honestly the sushi was awful, my lobster tasted like it was old. And the roll itself was loose and not packed well. I Honestly expected more. They did offer to get me something else but I also tried my husband's and I wasn't a fan of his either. I paid my bill and left. 👎

Kalbi Ichiban has outstanding food dishes. The food comes out hot and fresh everything. My favorite is the beef brisket and pork belly! Highly recommend!

Beyond Amazing. We chose the grill pit beef/chicken/pork combo as well as the seafood combo, and it was unreal. Would highly recommend that anyone looking for a wonderful meal and memory to remember to visit Kalbi Ichiban. Will definitely he here the next time I'm in the area.

Delicious food just not enough. So, kinda pricey for what we got. That being said I would definitely come back and try other things. We came late and not too hungry. Glad about that since serving sizes are small but typical for sushi 🍣. I think its worth trying out. There are a lot of variety of both Japanese and Korean. I have yet to try the Korean bbq side of things. That will be for my next trip. Thankful that we have this in Pensacola.

Went to lunch with some coworkers and I'm kicking myself for not knowing about this place sooner, even though I've driven by a hundred times. It's a little off the downtown "walkable" distance but worth the journey. It starts with an atmosphere and decor that's a step above the usual "beach vide" feeling that permeates Pensacola. It has a much more Vegas vibe which I've missed.
The calamari appy was crisp and delicious with a mayo-based dip and strangely pico de gallo. The bibimbo was DELICIOUS and the sushi (Pensacola Beach roll) was amazing. Yes, it was way more than someone should have at lunch and I couldn't eat it all, but it just means I need to come back for more.

3rd time here. Delicious sushi! Price is very fair for the quality.
First time visit had Louisiana roll (my favorite)Miami roll tasted good but needed some color too it so it was more visually appealing. Conch doesn’t have a really nice color, you know? But taste was great. Tuna tataki was perfectly cut and size
And the key lime pie martini was insane! Tart and sweet just like a key lime pie. House sake was ok, not anything special.
So this third visit (forgot what I had 2nd time) my daughter in law and I went for lunch, mainly because we love the key lime pie martinis but the sushi is freaking awesome so I had Pensacola beach roll, she had a deep fried roll. I don’t like fried rolls but tried hers and it was delicious!
Can’t wait for my next time.

My fiance and I visit Pensacola quite often and Kalbi Ichiban is always our first stop! From the wonderful korean BBQ to the hand mixed sake, there's something for everyone. There is sushi suited for beginners all the way up to high quality cuts for frequent diners. I tell everyone to visit when the are in town.

WOW what an eating experience. My Husband and I had bento boxes, shrimp teriyaki and one salmon Teriyaki. Both came with a choice of soup, and sushi rolls. Either TunA or California rolls 8 pieces.
The price is 24$each.
The best bento boxes and sushi we have had in the area. Will be going back.
My husband says he wants to run through the. Menu. I agree .
Our waiter was Joe. Loved him
A must place to eat

Great Sushi and Korean food, friendly staff, and very clean. The atmosphere is superb as well, and they pay attention to details. Excellent restaurant

We had to wait over 30 min to get to go order. Eggs drop soup was not good. Hot & sour soup was not hot. Bibimbap was good so did the poke bowl.

Great, gigantic sushi rolls! Beautiful, upscale asian decor throughout, but obnoxious background music that does not complement the otherwise nice atmosphere.

We celebrated a birthday last night at this restaurant, over priced food. Our waitress wasn’t friendly at all. She definitely didn’t deserved her $30 tip from my check alone. I wasn’t impressed by our entrees, the sushi was good beautiful restaurant. We spent $189.

The sushi was fresh and delicious. It did take quite a while to get it after ordering and it was a bit pricey. Overall, still a great experience and I will be back.

Calling this a Korean BBQ experience would be an embarrassment to both the culture and the actual experience. The meat isn’t marinaded, you pay $50 essentially for like 6 slices of meat, it’s not very appetizing either and the sushi options are subpar at best. Have been through many many KBBQ places and this is the most overpriced and overrated places i’ve ever seen. No all you can eat option and you don’t really get what you’re paying for. I don’t even leave reviews like this but this was truly horrible

Very good sushi, clean with nuanced flavors. Try the Korean chicken wings, they are fire!

Wow! Freshest Sashimi and Beautiful Presentation!
We were in town for UWF's graduation this past weekend and stopped by Kalbi for a post-event dinner. We opted for sushi and sashimi options as a lighter alternative to BBQ. Truthfully, Kalbi's sashimi was the freshest I can remember ever having eaten! The presentation was also impeccable--the photo says it all! Another person at our table had the Mango roll alongside more sashimi--also excellent. My fiancé had Beef Bulgogi, which was very yummy.
For dessert, we shared a super yummy deep fried ice cream--check out the photos for details.
Finally, a big shout out to most excellent service which matched the quality of the food. Logan, our server, took great care of us and was super friendly an "on it"! We will definitely be back on our next trip to Pensacola!

We were excited to try the place and met with some friends for a casual business meeting. However, it was not a good experience. Our server encouraged us to try the coal burner and we all agreed it sounded fun. It was not. Our main course was brought out before our appetizers and the fire would not stay lit. The server had to keep trying to get it to work and we could smell the gas really strong- so much so that our meat tasted like gas because he couldn't fix it. Eventually, the owner came out and swapped it out for another one (all the while our raw food got passed around between three different people while they tried to figure it out). After swapping out that burner, it started and stayed lit for about 5 minutes, this process went on (no exaggeration) for a total of 45 minutes of having to flag them down to restart the burner. We asked twice if they would just take the meat back to the kitchen and cook it because it was no longer even entertaining, it was frustrating. Every time we would try to talk about any business, we would be interrupted and eventually decided to have the conversation another time. Our entire meal was ruined, for everyone. I have an onion allergy and stated it from the beginning. I was brought fried rice with onions and then when they took it away, was told they would bring me some other rice (which I never did receive). When the check came, my husband decided to wait, as we didn't want to create a scene in front of anyone and it was already embarrassing enough. The total bill with tip was $370. My husband called the next day to talk to the manager who said he would refund us the money for the coal but nothing else (this never happened) and he told my husband to call back. So my husband called back and talked to the owner, the owner asked why my husband didn't say anything the night before, and he explained it was a business meeting and didn't want a scene. Honestly, he shouldn't have had to ask for something to be done. The management were all aware of the issues. The owner said he needed to investigate it more and would call us back and it's now been 2 days and no return call. I don't know anyone who would be pleased with that experience especially for that amount of money. The bill before the tip was $293.54.

Nice salty, warm miso. Nice crisp, fresh salad. Wish you could upgrade to an avocado salad, but the ginger salad was very good. Friendly, clean, nice ambience, very welcoming to vegetarians.

Me and my husband went in and decided to try the shabu shabu and we thought because it is expensive that it would be good but the flavor was horrible. It tasted like water filtered by a dirty old sock,. The only good part was the seafood on it because you can’t really mess up fresh seafood. The sushi was good but the extra $70 for the shabu shabu (2 meat choice) was horrendous.
