Family-friendly Japanese steakhouse is a showcase for teppanyaki chefs cooking on tableside grills.
Amazing Experience at Shogun!
We recently dined at Shogun in Orlando, FL, and it was an unforgettable experience! We had the Shogun Special, and it was absolutely delicious. Chef Tom was incredible, showcasing his culinary skills with flair and precision. The food was not only tasty but also beautifully presented.
We took advantage of the Magical Dining, which made the evening even more special. The price was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we received.
Our waitress, a young lady, was extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Her friendly demeanor and excellent service added to the overall enjoyment of our evening.
The ambiance of Shogun is perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. The decor is elegant, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a top-notch Japanese dining experience in Orlando. We will definitely be returning!

Shogun Japanese Steakhouse - Rosen Inn, I-Drive
We had a fantastic time at Shogun Japanese Steakhouse for a classic teppanyaki dinner (where the chef cooks on an iron griddle right at your table, making it part meal, part show!). We started with miso soup and a fresh salad with house ginger dressing, and enjoyed two delicious sushi rolls: The Red Dragon Roll (soft shell crab, avocado, cream cheese, spicy tuna, eel sauce, spicy mayo, scallions) and the Unagi Roll (grilled eel, cucumber, eel sauce).
For the main teppanyaki course, we ordered the New York Strip and the Kabuki, which includes chicken, shrimp, and scallops. Both dishes were cooked to perfection with incredible flavors. Watching Chef Tam prepare everything was a highlight – he’s talented, funny, and engages with the table, adding a playful touch to the experience.
We also tried a Ramune (Japanese Marble Soda) in melon flavor, which is always a fun novelty. For dessert, we ended with the Chocolate Decadence Cake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream – a sweet treat that capped off our meal perfectly!
Located in the Rosen Inn on I-Drive, getting there was easy. Just mention to the security guard that you’re dining at Shogun, and you’ll be directed right in. There’s plenty of parking, and the restaurant is to the right of the main lobby. At the entrance, there’s a beautiful display of Japanese armor (yoroi) that adds to the cultural ambiance, and we were also greeted by a hostess wearing a traditional kimono.
Our server was attentive, giving us updates on each course and keeping our table tidy. Highly recommend Shogun for a memorable dining experience and a touch of Japan right in Orlando!

Wow! Our party of 4 enjoyed the chef's skills on the grill. We were definitely entertained. The gyoza was perfect, as was the shrimp special. The meats were all cooked to perfection. The rice and veggies had the perfect amount of flavorful seasoning. We also enjoyed the red bean ice cream and the cheesecake. Everything was great from the moment we were greeted and seated until our departure. We will definitely visit again. 😊

We went for an evening meal and it was a great experience. The food was fantastic and our chef Tam put on a great show. We had two meals. The teriyaki chicken and the teriyaki chicken, shrimp, and scallops hibachi meal. There was certainly plenty to eat with the soup and salad, too. If you have never experienced a hibachi meal, it is well worth paying a visit.

My fiancé and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shogun Japanese Steakhouse, and we were thoroughly impressed with our experience. As someone who has a gluten allergy, my fiancé often faces challenges when eating out, but the staff at Shogun went above and beyond to accommodate his dietary needs.
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. Our server greeted us promptly and took the time to discuss the menu, making sure to inquire about any dietary restrictions. When I mentioned my fiancé's gluten allergy, they immediately reassured us that they could accommodate him without any issues.
What impressed us most was the level of care and attention the chefs took with his meal. They cooked his food separately to avoid any cross-contamination, which gave us peace of mind and showcased their commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction. My fiancé ordered the hibachi steak, while I opted for the shrimp and steak combo. The chef was not only skilled but also entertaining, adding to the overall experience with a bit of flair and fun—definitely a highlight of the evening. This place had gluten free soy sauce which is a huge plus.
I highly recommend Shogun. The experience left us both smiling and eager to planning our next visit!

I came all the way from Philadelphia to visit the parks with my wife and some friends. My wife and I were tired of eating fast food for the last two days so we tried shogun. We are so happy we went. Roland and Francesca really took care of us. They both went out of their way to make our meal so pleasant. Even though it was getting late, they both made us feel welcomed and made sure the food and the service was top notch. I highly recommend shogun if you go to Orlando. It is one of the best options to eat real food after a long day of visiting the amusement parks.

I should have taken a picture bc they say a 1000 words. The habachi grill chef was cool and funny. Food was ok. I did not choose this place for Magical dining. We had late reservations and this was last minute spot. Food was salty not great. I will say their desserts were awesome. It was dark and old looking. Dead vibes. Small room it felt old they need to refurbish. The server was nice but mediocre. It was fortunate for staff that gratui was included bc I would have tipped according to service given which was at most 10% efforts. Nothing special or better than carry out service. Drinks were pretty but lacking. I wish I could give half stars like 2.5.

The food was nasty the soup wasn't cooked down enough so it was grainy. The wait was ridiculous for 2 people and the cups were dirty. For the amount we spent we should have just stayed home or went to McDonald's. I've never been to a Japanese steakhouse this bad. I personally wouldn't waste the money here.

This is my second time eating here. We ordered both app specials ( red dragon and a shrimp one) both were amazing. The size and price of the sushi really can't be beat. My main reason for returning was for the red dragon roll.
The chef said he's usually the sushi chef (not sure if this is true, or just part of the act) but did an amazing job at entertaining us and preparing the food perfectly, my son asked about an onion volcano- our chef did just that and more.
I will say after reading reviews that the service did take some time, but because we went in knowing this before hand it wasn't something that subtracted from the experience.... I just made sure to order more apps. (Gyoza's are super yummy)
I would recommend, like most hibachi places, that you assume you'll be there for at least 1.5- 2 hours.

Meal service didn’t start at table until over an hour after seated. Food was okay … I’ve had better. Would not recommend based on time it took to eat. 2 chefs accommodating 7 hibatchi tables is rediculous. Not surprised that this place isn’t open more days during the week.

Great experience with Chef Roland, he was very pleasant and entertaining. The food was great and I was positively surprised at the quality of the sushi rolls. All the staff was remarkably friendly including the hostess and waitress whose names I regrettably have forgotten. Great staff and experience!
I did feel like the music choice could have been a bit different - for as much as everything else is themed towards Japanese homage, like the suit of armor and the kimonos donned by the staff, the classical piano music gave more of a jazz lounge vibe. Would have loved to hear something more matching of the theme, like some traditional koto music.

I am happy for those who happened to have a unique experience enjoying a delicious food and warm atmosphere at Shogun Japanese Steakhouse. Neither me nor my husband experienced anything like that there tonight. We left the restaurant hungry and humiliated. We came to the restaurant at 8:45 pm and asked a hostess if there was any table available for us. She entered our names into her I-pad, asked if we stayed at Rosen Inn where Shogun is located and suggested to return to the restaurant in 30 minutes. We followed her advice but when returned back she couldn't find our names in her computer although confirmed that she remembered us. To make things worse, she said that there was no place for us. We asked for the restaurant manager. But the manager didn't bother to come. The hostess added that although she was sorry she could do nothing because there was no waiters to serve us. I am not sure whether it was a comedy or tragedy but our experience was really 'unique': neither food nor waiters were available for us.

shogun has been one of my fav restaurants for years. it is remarkably and reliably excellent! ate there with a group this past thursday night. teri and yadeliz were personable, welcoming, and attentive. chef tam & chef roland were amazing culinary performers as always--their entertainment skills only matched by the food quality and taste. i ordered the teppan (filet mignon and chicken with fried rice, and drenched it in shogun's addictive ginger sauce). every bite was perfect. and even though i was stuffed, i ordered dessert--the red bean ice cream is a delight!

My daughter and I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 6 years (not including Covid (2020-2022 and Roland had been our Chef each time and had been nothing short of amazing. Yadeliz Guzman was originally a front desk associate at the hotel which she was welcoming and great so we were delighted when she started working at the Shogun Resturant.
Yadeliz had been beyond sweet professional and just a delight. Kudos to Yadeliz and Roland

Updating this after 7 years..... Man has this place gone down hill. Service was incredibly slow with the server giving me someone else's sushi. The dinner service was not great at all. The chef was very condescending towards a Guest at our table, and when the seafood was brought out, everything was on the same tray. The amount of cross contamination was abysmal. The lobster tasted of shrimp and was overly salty. The same overly salty taste was present in the steak. The chef also left the flat top multiple times during the service. At the end of the night, the checks took well over 30 min to be delivered. I witnessed tables next to us get their meals and checks way before ours. On top of getting the order wrong. Definitely do not recommend this place. You are better off visiting Kobe or Bennehana

Horrible experience because we had reservation at 6 pm and had to wait 30 mins to be seated while it was empty.another 30 they took order and it the cook came after 30 mins. If you are planning to waste 1.5 hour and for food you are welcome than to come and eat at this place. The server seemed nice to answer the questions I had. However on the other side I saw she was taking every single order from each person from my table like every 10 mins which is horrible. Food was average and there was nothing special about it.

So, I’m going to keep this simple and straight forward.
1. You’re on I drive aka international drive but the prices for hibachi etc.. are similar even with on outskirts. It’s not inexpensive it’s not super expensive. You’re paying for good fresh food and entertainment from the chef.
2. Food is fresh and it’s good! Good portion as well.
3. Service from management, to our waitress this evening, to the chef were all on point.
Thank you to the manager this evening and to everyone who treated us great this evening. This was delightful after coming from the Japanese festival!

The family on left side of table got to sit nice and comfortable but for the other 2 families we had to squeeze into the other side of the table. I mentioned it to the host that I did not have room my knees were hitting my daughters chair and she still did nothing.
I’ve been here several times and this has been a horrible experience. When I go out to dinner I like to be able to sit relaxed and enjoy. Instead I had to sit with my knees in my daughters chair, hit elbow to elbow and had no room for my soup, salad or dinner plate in front of me

The reason I'm only giving one Star. The lady who took our phone order told me that the food would be ready in 40 to 45 minutes and that they would call me when it was ready. An hour went by and I called them and I got the answer machine. Then I called back again and the lady picked up and I said I've waited over an hour for my food .i askef if it was ready. she said yes. We went into the restaurant and we still waited another 15 minutes and they still hadn't bagged it up And we just left. Then she's gonna call me 15 minutes later after i left and ask me
do I still want the food. I told her it was sushi .sushi's not supposed to be just sitting out like that and she asked me did I still want it. I said NO. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. And ithe service was sooooooo slow .. She shouldn't of gave me a time, and never apologized for giving me a time ⁰to pick it up ,if they couldn't get orders out in a TIMELY MANNER! And the young girl never moved with no urgency. If you have hours to wait. Then this is your place.

The worst service and the worst food that I have ever received in my life. Wr had a reservation at 8.00 pm for teppanyaki. It was around 9.20 when the cook came to the table and that was after we told them that we were leaving. The sushi we ordered was horrible, plus we had hair in it. The Miso soup tasted weird, and it failed to keep its texture even I stirred it several times. You can see the picture of it. We ordered a bottle of wine so I told them that I would pay only for wine, but when I checked the invoice, I realized they added gratitude as well. Their hostess and waiters are very inexperienced, to say the least. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE (I CAN NOT CALL IT A RESTAURANT) TO ANYONE.

It is modernly designed located behind the Rosen. It is an intimate space. The service was slightly slow as they were short staff. The waitress was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks are more so on the weaker side. Sushi was a little sticky but fresh. The chief was a substitute but did an amazing presentation.

I came here with my family (7) of us on March 16, 2023. We had a reservation for 8pm, we called and moved the reservation to 9pm. We got there at about 8:30pm and we were told that we would not be able to be seated until 9pm. We waited and went back inside about 8:57pm, we were seated and the hostess came and spoke to us and we did not get a waitress until about 10 minutes afterwards. A family of (10) came after us and we noticed that they were getting more attention than us from the get go. Bear in mind, we are black and that family is white. Our waitress took our drink and food order before the family that came after us and they were served drinks, appetizers, soup and salad before us. We sat down for one hour before we even got our drinks. At this point we were ready to just pay for our drinks and leave but then she brought out the soup and salad at the same time. I work in food and beverage and when serving soup and salad you serve soup first and then you serve salad. Her (Yadi) I think our waitresses name was, her bringing out both one time to me felt like they were rushing us to eat. The hibachi chef that went to the other table from I saw him I knew he was supposed to be our chef. The hostess and the manager I’m going to assume kept looking at our family and whispering to each other. You can tell we were being profiled. The only highlight of the night was our chef ‘TAM’. He was having arm pain and because he saw that no one was coming to our table he came and took excellent care of us. Our waitress even got our order wrong. And during the middle when we pointed it out to her she said we should just tell the chef like girl that’s your job. I would never return because first impressions last and that was the worst treatment I’ve ever received in my life. If you’re a person of color maybe think twice before coming to this restaurant because you might just receive the same treatment me and my family did. Shame on you Shogun but you guys should definitely give TAM a raise cause he is the best !

I was charged a “sharing” fee bc my 2 young kids shared a kids meal. I’ve never been charged a sharing fee anywhere else. The hostess took forever to seat us. Then she seated us toware my dad who is in a wheelchair was in everyone’s way. We should’ve been seated differently. Bad experience overall. Never going back

Would happily recommend this to anyone who’s down for hibachi and an overall great atmosphere. Thanks Shogun!

We visited this restaurant on 9/8/22. The food wasn't bad, but definitely not worth the $250 we paid for it. But that's not why I'm giving this place one star. However, the sushi is really good! The reason I didn't give it at least 3 stars is because of how we were treated and cheated. We brought our daughter her our last night in Orlando because she really wanted to dress up and go out for a special dinner. The hostess was nice, and so was our server, Thu. However, their smiles came with strings. For instance, Thu was quick to ask me if I wanted steak and lobster when I was trying to decide, which I agreed to simply because it was one of the items I was thinking of getting. My husband ordered the New York strip. When they brought the check, however, they'd charged us for the Emperor, which is filet mignon and lobster, and they must have found the smallest lobster tail they had and served it, and then they divided the New York strip between my husband and me. The chef, though gifted at making you laugh and keeping you entertained and distracted was one of the worst. Why? Because all through my rice were egg shells because of all those tricks. Additionally, he was dropping food everywhere. The meat portions are already small and there he was dropping pieces of the meat on the floor. Not to mention, he stumbled when he made it to the table. Honestly, I thought he was drunk. But perhaps it was all a part of his act. I was not about to spoil the dinner for my daughter. She had a great time and was happy. After the trauma she's been through, the last thing I wanted to turn the night into was a show. So, I'll keep the fact that it wasn't the quality of service I'm accustomed to receiving at a Japanese steakhouse for what we paid, out of her ear gate. Needless to say, I wouldn'trecommend this place unless you're okay with taking chances. I'm sure they have great days and better chefs. Also, I'm sure they keep their best pieces of meat for preferred customers. Oh, and keep an eye on the ticket as they automatically add 18% gratuity to the ticket. The server folded the ticket down so that we couldn't see that portion. But hey, at least we got to see a show. Use caution and wisdom.

Ambiance was good, but the dinner show, food and service were average. It was definitely not worth the $150 we paid for two people teppanyaki dinner show. We were very disappointed that we were mislead to come to Shogun and not able to use the teppanyaki groupon as the owner said groupon is for apparently another specific teppanyaki groupon. The only thing memorable from this dinner was the green tea ice cream because it had a strong green tea flavor which tasted good.

The cook was funny and very good, waitress was very attentive and when i ordered a soup she ended up giving me the soup and salad for free and drinks refill were free also. My family got the hibachi and they really enjoyed it. I got couple sushi rolls for my dinner and they were pretty good.

Even tho we had a reservation, had to wait 45min just to be seated and another 45min for the server to come get our order. 2 chefs and 2 waitress for the whole restaurant… need to hire more people

We just went into the sushi area. Got the spicy tuna, yellowtail roll, California roll, gyoza and cheesecake. Everything was tasty and served quickly. Staff were friendly and approachable.

Good food, good drink, good service, and it was entertaining watching the cook prepare our meal (first time). It was worth the price.

First things first, the service was excellent. We got offered a hibachi table before we even decided whether we wanted to do hibachi or sushi. That allowed us to do both. Food was delicious. The hibachi experience was standard, not too exciting but not disappointing in any way. Good food, good time and company. Recommend it!

We are fans of teppanyaki and this Shogun was a great choice. We have Shoguns back in Texas and this one was very similar. We tried the chicken, steak, salmon, shrimp and scallops. The chef was entertaining and the staff was very patient and helpful. The pricing was very reasonable for a Japanese restaurant. We had a real good time and experience here. Enjoy y'all!

I did not have a good experience at this establishment and it wasn't the how the food tasted but how I was treated. Everyone should be treated equally regardless of race, color or nationality. I will never go to another restaurant like this again. Thanks

It was a little hard to find but we had the best experience! Great show and family friendly 💕 food was decent. Ginger dressing was watered down.

The wait staff were amazing. Roland our Hibachi chef was personable and entertaining but more importantly his food was delicious!. Normally I would need a box to take home half my food BUT the taste was so good I cleaned my plate. I ordered Hibachi Shrimp and I got a lot of them. Also served with at my request zucchini only for my veggie, deliciously charred and flavorful. Fried rice also amazing. Will be back!

Just go to Kobe’s or Benihana. This was disgusting. The sushi wasn’t fresh at all, the salad was pitiful. Service was weird. All of our stomachs hurt after eating here. I wish I could give them zero stars, but unfortunately I have to give them one.

I am writing as an Asian who has had traditional "Japanese Steakhouse" experience.
It's all about entertainment, the chef performs tricks in front of you and it's interactive, but don't expect the food to be superb. No doubt the chef is very professional and nice, food quality is up to standard too, just don't expect to get the full Japanese experience. If something Americanised suits you I think it's worth a try.

We ordered the all inclusive dinner ($37). Included 1 of 3 appetizers, soup, salad, the main entree and a dessert. One of the appetizers was an 8 piece sushi roll called the lemon drop, unique and delicious. The other was edamame and spring rolls, also very tasty. Disappointed in the salad but only because the ginger dressing was very thin and saucy. Entree was the shrimp, scallops and salmon. Shrimp and scallops were perfectly cooked and tasty. Salmon did not meet expectations, a thin fillet that was bland. The amount of food was way too much, only able to finish about half of it. The cheesecake was ordered to go, we had to ask for the strawberry sauce and whipped cream which wasn’t included in our to go bag. Roland was our chef, very entertaining with his chef skills and jokes. Really enjoyed having him prepare our dinner, put on a great show. Service was a little slow as it looked like they were short staffed. Overall a great value of food for the money, would not recommend the salmon however.

Updated Review▪️▪️▪️
Finally was able to go since it’s been closed down for COVID19. This place is older, it was here before Kobe and a lot of other Hibachi restaurants in Orlando. I’m talking about since the 80s maybe early 90s. But we enjoyed our food and the cooks were entertaining. They had the barriers up to separate guests from each other and all the staff wore masks. It was funny to watch the guests and other tables freak out over the fire..🔥🔥The food is awesome..

Tam the cook was very disrespectful and when he was "confused" about our order instead of asking, he told us what he wasn't going to do. After a miscommunication about an order he had an attitude the rest of the night. food was good.

My husband and I ate at the bar our first couple of nights. The food was good, sushi was tasteful. However our issue was with the bartender Carol. The first night service was okay, good enough that we came back again. The second night we went she brought up some negative comments about covid restrictions, immigrants, and political opinions. Specifically she said, “The government wants people on unemployment so the illegals can come in and take their jobs” Firstly, as a child of an immigrant that is extremely offensive. Secondly, not only did this make us uncomfortable but politics should never be talked about with or around guests. We were planning on staying at the Rosen inn on our next trip to Orlando, but after these events we will be looking elsewhere.

Kind of dated and touristy, but it is International Drive. It's located in a hotel behind a gate. Must tell security guard you are going to the restaurant. Our chef was nice and entertaining. Server was very nice. Food quality is ok, nothing fantastic. Must arrive exactly at reserved time, no earlier. Pretty pricey.

Terrible experience!! Went there for Father’s Day with my wife. Tam the cook was not friendly with the African Americans sitting at table. He spoke to table telling us Happy fathers Day while only looking at white male to reference. I was the only father at the table but I was black. He kept telling the White male he had his back. I guess he did he gave my wife’s shrimp and my shrimp away to white couple at table who never ordered shrimp: Filled the white male at the tables plate with rice and gave the blacks and Latinas small amounts. worst fathers Day experience ever. Waitress was the same. Catered to white couple asking if they ere ok or needed anything but never asked us the black couple at the table. How can this be happening where we spend our hard earned dollars?

A lot of micro aggressions we did not appreciate from Tom. We felt we were picked on at the table this isn’t the first time. My husband is black and the only black guy at the table so it’s extremely annoying because others think it’s funny when it’s not. Calling my husband “daddy” or “I love you” only to him at the table is annoying. Towards the end the chef noticed our change in mood and he apologized. But it’s not the first time. We love hibachi but will not be returning here again. The hostess was sweet and the lady at the bar was sweet as well. We have a sense of humor but when it becomes the whole hour and half of just us two being picked at while there was a whole family there and another two people.
